What progress looks like:

It's not linear, but it is a lot of fun to practice! I'm really proud of getting through my first whole pound (plus about another half of Other Wool). I can't wait to see what the next pound turns out.
Edit: I dyed the purple and straight orange but the blue was dyed by Kate Westburg (woolgatherings on Etsy) and the orange-and-blue was dyed by Kim Hamand (JakiraFarms on Etsy).

Rediscovered my little pile of swatches whilst looking for that laminated conversion chart.
I don’t swatch very often, and even then I usually never complete the last stitch so to unravel it and use the yarn to start the project proper….
When I do swatch to keep, however, is with my handspun. Here we have the very first thing I ever spun

Making some progress finally on this wip that's been on the pile for a while.
It's my homespun wool, Dorset horn potentially? And then dyed with some commercial green, and black tea for the brown.
Took a little time to get back into the swing, but its going really well tbh, not making many mistakes touch wood.

I have done up more singles. The purple is SO SOFT. I love it so much. Such fine squish and the texture gives me the good brain. Unfortunately I have no idea what I did to get that result. My hand carding technique is basically:
1. Wool on cards
2. Brush brush brush
3. ????
4. Spin single
Tumblr media
The spring green is the last of my pre-card stuff I did. I much prefer the rolag-to-long draw than combed top-to-anything. Even if my rolags are basically long dust bunnies, haha.
I'm debating on what to ply together. I'm wondering if the blues and the white would look like a wave (ala Katsushika Hokusai). I think I might save the yellow and see if I can't do a nineties inspired throwback. All the eyes must bleed!
