yours and Ash-AUs' bases have been a smash hit! It's awesome to see the designs that people who may not have lineart chops but have Design Vision have been bringing out with them

It's also nice to give people the opportunity to make their characters in a style they may not feel confident drawing themselves. I know my style is difficult for most and could be frustrating to draw. It is for me still sometimes, too. XD

A while ago someone else actually also called her "Snow Pea", and I drew this in reply! At the time I said that it is her name when she's all bundled up to go outside in the snow. I bet the first time she went out in snow, she did get covered in those annoying little iceballs on her footpaws and where her fur is longer, and she hated pulling them out afterwards, so since then she's been good about dressing for the weather.

it's possible to transfer things pretty quickly between two computers using shared folders and an Ethernet cable connection (as in, plug one end of the Ethernet into computer A, the other end into computer B). Most programs store settings locally, so as long as you can find those and move them along with their executables, you should be able to recover your settings as long as the program is windows 10 compatible

This is a rushed and not great explanation, but it's 100% free and something your computers can already do safely 😅 I can dig up better info/instructions if you'd like, but it's definitely worth looking into

Finally, thanks to @crane-among-celandines for pointing out something I should have realised, that migrating from old to new may well also migrate all the below-the-radar junk and cruft that moving away usually leaves behind!

I’ve concluded that the risk of clogging my new machine with invisible rubbish outweighs any convenience provided by automated migration, so I’ll test-install my “old favourites” one by one from a thumb-drive to see if they’ll work, get the latest downloads of everything else, make sure the new machine is working at best speed and THEN do the cosmetic stuff of themes, profiles etc.

It's more time-consuming than direct migration, but it’ll also teach me the quirks of the new operating system. I’ve already found out how to move storage defaults from one drive to another and create one-click Shutdown and Restart desktop buttons, and there’s plenty more to learn.

Including how pushy Microsoft can be. I opened MS Edge to get Firefox, and got this:

Needless to say, Firefox is installed (and my FF proflle flawlessly transferred from the old machine, another thing I’ve learned to do!) and I’m now studying this because MS Edge has really stroked me the wrong way...

Meanwhile, as often happens, the old machine seems to be working better than it’s done for months, though at the same time I saw a notification that Win 8.1 stops being supported in January. Clearly I’m doing the right thing at the right time.

@hyratel ABSOLUTELY so Don't Starve is a horror survival game in which a seemingly (<- key word) random group of people living in the 1920s are brought into a dark world ruled by a shadowy Queen and populated by all manner of monsters. among those monsters are Krampii, as in multiple Krampuses, and even a boss who is the apparent King of the Krampii. HOWEVER some years ago now a new playable character was released, along with a very short backstory:

tl;dr if you don't feel like watching, Wortox was a Faun/Imp/Fae of some kind (the in-game cosmetic for his appearance in the short refers to him as a Faun, he refers to himself as Imp, Devil, and Fae) who was "friends" with a Krampus who instilled in Wortox an extremely fucked up sense of morality. but Wortox is by nature - perhaps partially because he wasn't originally a Krampus himself - a good and kind person so eventually when he witnesses Krampus attempting to kidnap a baby Beefalo (exactly what it sounds like, a wild bovine calf), he intervenes to rescue the baby. BUT in doing so he inadvertently activates a curse (which he has apparently had for an unknown period of time) which causes him to absorb the soul of Krampus, and in doing so taking on the appearance of a Krampus himself (albeit much smaller than the other Krampii roaming the Don't Starve world)

a LOT of lore in Don't Starve is delivered via in-game lines, which players see when having their character examine various things (almost literally everything in the world can be examined). in these lines Wortox talks about having come from another realm which is apparently inaccessible to mortals, mentions having a mother "somewhere", and makes a lot of extremely cryptic comments about the rules of Imp society.

HOWEVER because of his fucked up sense of morality, Wortox interprets the world through a very different lens and therefore everything he says must be taken with a pinch of salt (he hates salt). so the connection between these lines is my own interpretation. my theory is that based on the above canon information, Wortox may have been taken from his realm by Krampus when he was very very young, perhaps too young to understand why, but maybe having something to do with his curse.

i'm gonna stop there cause this post is getting long and i can talk about Don't Starve and its various characters for untold lengths of time but that's the background for my theory!

Something I've not been able to understand is why can't people respect someone else's decision to not have sex with anyone ever? Why does this enrage people so much?

Just remember this: You are not entitled to your own opinion about someone else's sexuality. This includes relationship status as well. Not everyone needs to date someone.
