We can never throw enough people overboard to win approval from our enemies. Should we try to argue that we're as "normal" as those who organize against our civil rights? Forget it! I am queer and proud of it.
If you want to be a better DM or D&D player in terms of understanding taking risks, conflict, plot, romance, finding the balance between being a team player and being in the spotlight, railroad vs. sandbox, and honestly basically any question you might ever have about RP, please drop whatever the fuck you're doing and watch the Persephone Valentine episode of Adventuring Academy. I am absolutely serious. It's phenomenally good discussion between Persephone and Brennan. It's also very funny.
(also I think it will come out in free podcast format on Oct. 25 if you don't have a Dropout subscription.)
If ur not careful I might have to watch torchwood… do u recommend or is it an affliction you would not recommend to others?
hehehehehe >:3c gottem boys
no fr like. you have to look past the fact it's a low budget bbc production at times and embrace the slightly see through lesbian alien with foot long fingers that can read minds. you have to embrace the sex alien that absorbs people through her pussy. crucially, you have to watch it in as few sittings as possible. the only proper way to watch torchwood is to watch the entire thing absolutely nonstop and nothing else in between until your brain falls out through your ears :)
HOLY SHIT I just stumbled across this article from the end of last year and I am fucking cackling please read it they got every possible fact wrong in the most hilarious way. Some highlights:
"Will Byers, Stranger Things’ gay star, is a bisexual...he is also deeply in love with Mike Wheeler, a poor choice for his first crush"
"Will, played by Finn Wolfhard, is in love with his best friend Mike Wheeler"
"They defeat the aliens and restore order to Hawkins...Will and Eleven are still in love"
"Will ends up with the woman he has been lusting after for a long time. The key to finding love on Stranger Things appears to be opening yourself up to change"
"Noah (Brian Geraghty) confirms to Will (Finn Wolfhard) that Will is gay and in love with Mike"
"As the scene cuts to a young girl in a hospital bed, the audience recognizes Mike as her. Mike’s hand is bandaged and he is wearing a gown in the hospital. In the end of the clip, we get a glimpse of a creature from the show’s first season. When the creature approaches Mike, he has slit his throat with such force that it appears to crawl toward him."
"Will’s father, Jonathan, is dating Nancy Wheeler, one of Will’s friends."
"In a recent episode, Will was shown in a gay scene with another character, Mike"
"Schnapp recently praised the lack of LGBTQ representation on television, just weeks before his comments. According to Schnapp, she finds it amusing that television does not show much representation of LGBTQ+ people"
Hi hello I see you hatoful boyfriend posting and would love to hear your favorite wild thing about that game (I have only ever seen people stream it and know very little and love hearing the wild bits)
oh jeez. ok. i hope you're ready for a wild ride. Hatoful Boyfriend spoilers under the cut, as well as some.... screenshots
im a depraved little freak so im a sucker for the True Ending. Prior to the True Ending, its a (fairly) normal dating sim But With Birds, including school festivals, class hikes, and Legumentine's Day (where you can buy seeds for the birdie of your affections). in the true ending, the player character is straight up killed halfway through the school year and the POV flips to the boyfriend birds trying to solve the murder in one of the wildest tonal shifts i have ever seen in video games.
while this is going on, the bird school goes into lockdown because the Player Character was the only human at bird school and the humans see her death as a threat (there's this whole thing about the bird/human war that only just ended) (the birds won). listen. listen. You, The Player Character, were Dismembered, and your body parts scattered through the school. In A Bird Dating Simulator. its such a wild left turn from the rest of the game which was fairly normal, as far as the game could be. the boyfriend birds are stalked through the locked down school by a bleeding scarecrow monster.
Apart from the True Ending, which takes about 4x as long to complete as any of the other routes, the other routes are... pretty wild in their own right. here's some screenshots from the normal routes.
and aside from THESE, just... the sheer amount of worldbuilding that went into Hatoful Boyfriend. On the surface it seems like a goofy dating sim (and to a degree, it is!! there are some genuinely cute moments!!) but just under the surface is a story about a bird flu vaccine gone wrong, birds gaining sapience, a war (that, again, the humans lost), tensions between the species, war crimes... its insane how much detail there is about a silly game about going to Bird School, Which Is For Birds.
there is also a lady birdie who rides a motorcycle. The motorcycle is not bird-sized. she also drives at 2 miles per hour because she takes road safety extremely seriously. im sorry if this is incoherent but thats just how this game is. it's 99 cents on Steam right now. im begging you all to purchase it and see what i mean

Five years later, Liam’s right back where he started. In a lot of ways it’s like he never left. In a lot of ways it's unrecognizably different. Things never change, and things never stop changing; a difficult dialectic.
In which Liam, Theo, Scott, Isaac, and Jackson, on the run from hunters and making their way to the rest of the pack, have to figure themselves, and each other, out.
Or, coming of age on the run.

Birdie wing is excellent because it goes from the very human struggle of trying to carve a life out for yourself and your family while having the least robust support systems to a woman shattering her cybernetic arm from hitting her ball too hard in a mutating golf course owned by several mafia bosses in a bet to see who gets the profits out of a casino they killed a man (with a bazooka) to get built
