big ramble about mike's love languages and how that relates to his relationships with will and el ahead!

its just occurred to me that in s3, during lucas and mike's little "how to apologise to a girl when you're gay and dont have any instincts in a straight relationship" crash course, the one thing mike did actually understand as relationship advice from lucas was "girls like presents." that's the thing he focused on the most, which was a great segue into a silly montage of lucas, mike and a very fed-up will running around the mall trying to buy gifts for the girls.

however, el doesn't give a damn about presents, not really. she doesn't really react to the flowers he gives her in s4 - she cares more about the note and what it says (and what it says does not please her.) el's love language appears to be words - she keeps mike's letters, and she's acutely aware of what they all say. she needs mike to *say* that he loves her - him showing how much he cares is not enough for el. so mike focusing on giving her presents was never going to work. his way of showing affection/love is not what she naturally recognises.

but yknow who does canonically like presents?

the only advice mike's able to take from lucas' girlfriend apology training speedrun is the one that applies to him. mike's love language is receiving gifts. this isn't a "mike's so selfish" dunk post because hes literally thirteen and it makes sense to him that if he likes presents, el must like presents too. everyone likes presents, right? but it just further shows the disconnect between them. they can't recognise what the other person needs. (side note, el never gives him any presents or compliments him during the course of their relationship if i recall. mike isn't receiving love in a way he understands either.)

when mike fucks up with el, he needs a training course from lucas on how to fix it and he still doesn't understand what's going on (and lets not forget mike is smart as fuck, he should logically be able to work this out.) then, like four hours later chronologically, he fucks up with will. he visibly realises he's fucked up as soon as he says the infamous INMFYDLG line and without anyone telling him to, he travels miles in the pouring rain to fix it. notably, with words. will is also not interested in presents. mike isnt often (maybe ever?) shown giving him a present, but he gives will plenty of heartfelt words and verbally appreciates will. in season 4, he fights with will and el on the same day AGAIN, and what does he do? he brings el a plate of eggos, which she rejects by not touching them. they fight more, "a fight you can't come back from." and then later, his apology to will - he doesn't bring any gifts or peace offerings, he just calmly talks to him and apologises sincerely. and it works perfectly - they're back to sharing their feelings with each other and being best friends. the tension in their relationship is basically gone after that.

on a related note, let's look at what will and el do when they first see mike after a year, mike! six months. el plans a whole day together, doing all this crazy fun stuff like breakfast burritos and rollerskating, and mike goes with it but his response is noticeably a little confused. think about mike as a character - he's nerdy, a little awkward, he likes comic books, video games, movies, and stories. he's got his close friends but he's not really a social butterfly. he'd probably be just as happy to go home and watch movies together and hang out, rather than meet a bunch of el's "friends." it all goes to shit, as we know, which is neither el nor mike's fault, but it does.

will brings the painting to their reunion. will has been working on this painting for like a week, probably. he's poured tons of effort and time into it. he obviously doesn't get a chance to give it to him until the van, but when he does?

mike loves it.

that awestruck smile - this is for him and will made it. and we know mike particularly likes receiving will's art, he's been shown to have more of it on his walls than even joyce does. this is also why mike is so confused - these tags perfectly describe why mike is so messed up about the painting, imo. he likes gifts, and brings one for el, but el doesnt give him one back. but then will does, and he loves it, but will says its from el.

but this also explains why after the painting reveal, mike looks a little bit like he might know something's up.

gift giving/receiving and words of affirmation are the love languages that mike understands best, remember. so will byers, visibly emotional, has just given him an epic speech about how great "el" thinks he is, while presenting him with a handmade gift that's perfectly thought out for mike's interests that he poured hours of work into. let's not forget mike is very intelligent. i dont think he's fully oblivious like fandom thinks he is - when it comes to mike wheeler feeling appreciated, will has absolutely nailed it, and that's his downfall when it comes to hiding his feelings. he's too good at knowing what makes mike feel loved. so now mike's got to deal with will's perfectly adapted tokens of love and how instinctually easy he finds it to please will, vs his girlfriend, who never really makes him feel appreciated, and his own inability to make her feel appreciated

i hate being reminded that it even exists 😭 out of grim curiosity i usually check to see whats going on at each release but its just..........................................its just so bad...............................................................................................

like its so out of character that i cant consider it canon even if i wanted to......... and its so BORING too!!! its so lame...........its So lame...

it doesnt make me sad anymore at least it just makes me laugh now (especially now after book 2) but like....darkly...just like... Oof...... oof......... but yeah the way clem is written specifically is actually laughable im sorry but that really is tangerine

i hate when characters get reverted just to retell the same story. like its doubly insulting. and its pretty much what tillie did with clem. and its BORING!!! and i just have to reiterate again that its also laughable. its just....painful honestly 💀 the plot is boring the characters are boring clem is a mess and her pre-existing (EXTREMELY IMPORTANT) relationships to characters from the game are basically non-existent. and we're not having any INTERESTING discussions!!! what are the themes what are the messages what is tillie trying to say here? im getting a big load of reused character arcs and what feels new falls flat on its face. clem isnt even a shadow of her former self shes a different character entirely. and she is crying waaaay too much. shes got the anger of S3 clem and not even a Fraction of the emotional regulation S1 clem had. and she was 8 then....

and her naming her prosthetic 'kenny' is fucking stupid

ive seen some people say that it would actually be an interesting comic if clem was removed from the story but i dont agree. its fucking lame and boring. i love the zombie setting for the stories it allows a writer to tell. for the emphasis on character it allows. and this is probably the most boring piece of zombie related media ive ever laid my eyes on. this definitely feels like it was written by a romance writer trying to figure out how the zombie setting Works as a storytelling device. with a beloved preexisting character that theyre Also trying to find the voice of. and we're watching it in real time. and its Painful.....

S4 will Always be the True end to clementines story. its too perfect. and it also marked the end of telltale. it was a love letter to the series. its very fitting for both clem as a character but also as a last goodbye from a beloved studio. the still not bitten teams signatures on the hallway walls always gets a sob outta me. that final goodbye... clem was meant to spend the rest of her days at ericsons with the community she helped cultivate. ive said it a million times but her losing her leg is Symbolic. the first episode isnt titled "done running" for no reason. clem never Liked being on the road. all she ever wanted was a safe place to call home. with people she trusted and loved. and now the comics are retconning all of that just to retell the same story but Badly. why should i give a shit about that?

whats unfortunate is that i DO think there are still things that could be explored with a post S4 clem. shes got what she wanted: a home. (relative) safety. community. however she has new limitations due to her injury. how would she adjust to this? after spending so many years on the road? after having to do so much independently? only having herself to rely on for the most part? these are the goals im trying to achieve with my own short little fic (that ive been working on for too long):

she would never Want to leave ericsons. home is what shes been looking for since S1. but now that shes Safe. now that she can turn off survival mode a little bit and actually Relax for once. shes going to begin Processing EVERYTHING shes been through up until this point. the true healing starts Now. but she cant run from it. so how would she reconcile these things? the whole point of ericsons was that they were a community of traumatized kids who found love and support in each other when they had nothing else. aj says it himself (S4 is Very clear in its messaging). THAT is the perfect setting for clem to ALSO have this grieving/acceptance process that she Desperately needs. everything shes been through up until this point is going to hit her like a truck. the true healing starts NOW. shes no longer fighting for her life 25/8. and when the brain can get out of survival mode it begins True processing mode.

one of the issues with the comics is that it puts her BACK into survival mode. but of clems own choosing! no matter how much her processing hurts and no matter how much she could want to run from those feelings, she has always wanted True Community more than Anything. having to reconcile those feelings is interesting! i Do think tillie is trying to have some of these conversations. but they all fall flat. her understanding of clem as a character is weak. and the environment shes in is not conducive to the healing process she wants clem to have. its a mess. i will always stand firmly in the camp that these comics should have taken place in the gap between seasons 3 and 4. that change alone wouldve boosted the comic. but unfortunately they chose.....This

sjdsjsd sorry to be that person but what are your thoughts on adrinette's development throughout the season?? it's so wild to me how their relationship evolved sm in just 11 episodes

it IS wild!! Especially after watching them just make insane heart eyes at each other for 4 seasons before this!! Im proud of them. look how far they’ve come :’)

I’ll admit tho that I do have some mixed feelings lol. Because tbh I actually really love the status quo of miraculous ladybug. I know everyone has been itching for adrinette or another side to officially get together for years, but I always just loved the dynamic of each side as it was originally. dont get me wrong, im Thrilled to see adrinette saying I love you and holding hands and being the cutest couple ever 😭 and it always made the most sense for adrinette to be the side that dates prereveal. Im happy for the development! But at the same time I do miss adrien pining for ladybug. When I see ladynoir onscreen together now they’re just so cute and theyre great friends and partners and they’ve left the drama of s4 behind which is nice bc that was hard to watch dhdnd. But at the same time im like aw I want him to be in love with his lady! </3 and ive been waiting for a ladrien interaction to no avail 😔

It’s really interesting how they flipped/reversed the love square briefly to have marinette pursuing chat noir and then she flipped back pretty quickly while adrien continued to pursue her as marinette. There’s been so much love square development this season that it gave me a little whiplash in the beginning lmao. if u have been following me for a while h probably know im a big marichat fan. So obviously I was losing my mind over all the marichat this season. I was always rooting for marichat interactions but I was never delusional enough to think we’d get THAT lmao. so ofc I was ecstatic! But at the same time I was like wait! No, not like this! Bc I was never rooting for a love square “reversal” so much as a LS “expansion,” if that makes sense. Like I wanted marinette to fall for chat and adrien for marinette, but I didn’t want them to fall out of love with OG crush. I was hoping for the dramatic “oh no, im in love with two people!” thing and them having to reconcile those feelings and then at the reveal they’d realize they’d fallen in love with the same person twice. I’ve just always thought of adrien being in love with ladybug as kind of a defining character trait for him, so it’s sad for that to be seemingly gone, but also i dont really believe it is? maybe just suppressed atm bc his love for Marinette is taking priority.

Man I probably sound whiny and entitled rn complaining that my favorite side of the square got so much attention and that adrien is openly in love w marinette now, which ive wanted for a long time lol. I dont mean to come off that way!! Im really enjoying the adrinette and the love square development! it’s just going differently from how I imagined it would so im trying to stop pushing my expectations on it and just enjoy what the writers cooked up for us. im excited to see what happens next!

SOMETHING I NOTICED ON REWATCH OF LMK S3 (this is a semi-long ass rant and I’m very sleep deprived you can stop reading after Redson lmao):

BABY REDSON HAS A CIRCLET. ON HIS FUCKING NECK. The circlet is a torture device created by Tang Sanzang, it tightens when a spell is chanted out (Tang Sanzang freed Monkey King from Five Phases Mountain and put a circlet on his head. When Monkey King was disobedient, the circlet would tighten around his head. - The LMK Wiki) so.. Tang Sanzang put the circlet on this INFANTS neck (assuming he can control where it appears, I know next to nothing about The Journey To The West and I’m strictly speaking about LMK) While I understand why Tang Sanzang put a circlet on Redson in the first place, it’s still horrifying to think about the placement. And it leaves me wondering if DBK and Princess Iron Fan ever used the spell. (Probably not tho- DBK and Princess Iron Fan are good parents I dont really care what anyone else says)

What I do find strange though, on MKs Lego figure his headband has a circlet design on it. WHAT are they implying??? Is he gonna get circleted-? is that the right way to tense that?? IS MY MONKEY MAN GOING TO GET TORTURED or is it just another comparison to Wukong?

AND EVEN WEIRDER. The ONLY figure that doesn’t have the circlet on his headband is when he’s working!

WHAT ARE THEY IMPLYING?? WAS THIS ACCIDENTAL and am I looking WAY too deep into this because I’m running on 2 hours of sleep and festering with autistic hyperfixation on this show? We may never know. ALSO ALSO Y’know how young Sun Wukong has the circlet on his head?

Do the different locations of the circlet do different things? It’s very strange why Wukong would have it on his head while an ACTUAL BABY has it on his neck BUT AT THE SAME TIME NE ZHA ALSO HAS IT ON HIS NECK

SO DOES THAT MEAN THAT THE CIRCLET BEING LOCATED ON THE HEAD HURTS WORSE THEN IT BEING LOCATED ON THE NECK?? MK also gets a circlet in the show, although it’s very brief,

In the S1 Pilot “ A Hero Is Born “ he gets one when he first unlocks his powers and attacks DBK. So is the circlet connected to Monkey Kings powers? since that’d be the ONLY way MK could even get a circlet at the time (and still now, I seriously doubt Tang would stick a circlet on MK)

CIRCLING BACK TO NE ZHA REALY QUICK: why does he have a circlet? WHAT did he do to deserve it? (I think I remember reading somewhere that he fought/killed Ao Bing, Ao Gaungs son) From what we know he was always doing what he was told, he fought against the Brotherhood when they first invaded, along side Princess Iron Fan and Erlang. So..like..why? Why does he have a circlet? And we can see that its not a necessity for all celestial beings. So does he obey out of fear and not loyalty? And is that why he was so hell bent on not letting Monkey King get the map and the rings in S3? Was he absolutely terrified to fail because of the circlet? But that doesn’t make sense, maybe he was only terrified of the Samadhi Fire. Even when he was young he had the circlet, what did this man do.

Some characters in teen wolf are very 50 50 for me and some of those characters are malia, kira, allison, and derek. Most of them are females and that is bc the writers put all of their best into lydia.

Kira is one of the main characters that i dont like and that is bc how she was introduced was very weird. Eavesdropping on a convo and then just being like 'yeah those dreams mean ur gonna die :D' like sorry bro that is NOT the way to go if ur trying to make friends. I think the ppl who screwed her over the most was the writers bc i feel like if she was just a character on her own she wouldve been fine but it felt like she was there purely for scott. I get it, tv shows need romance most of the time but scott is never single ever. Like maybe s3a?? And even then its still sorta allison. Kiras scenes with malia were so good and i thought when they were dancing in the first ep of s4 i was like i think this would be a good dynamic. And in s5 when she has to capture the electricity or whatevrr malias there and shes giving her encouragement and i thought that was awesome. I feel like bc they made her there just bc of scott it made me iffy abt her character. Shes a kitsune who has lightning powers u couldnt give her some scenes were she wasnt with scott or doing stuff by herself??

Allison is another case like this. She has such good moments when its just her archery and doing stuff by herself or with lydia. S3a shes being herself and shes finding stuff out and still having to deal with ppl sorta dustrusting her bc she was an antagonist at the end of s2 and i think its annoying that they put isaac there as a love interest. Isaac and allison as separate characters or a dynamic?? Amazing. Awesome. But making them so sexual tension wasnt fun bc a. Allison was mainly using isaac as a rebound and b. when she was dying she was just all like scott its been you all along and that fine first love but to isaac??? That shit is painful af like imagine ur being kinda with a girl and then u think ok finally someone loves me finally someone is in the same boat of ppl being distrusting but then she dies and not even a glance? Idk just felt bad. Allison was so close bc when she was on her own she had such good scenes and i wish she had more archery scenes and ones with lydia. It was also like the parallel u couldve gotten with isaac and allison fighting together or smt???? Like with the end of s2 with allison shooting down all of the wherewolves and then s3b and shes fighting WITH them???? Like bro wasted potential.

Malia is just a character a 50 50 chaarcter cuz there is some questionable things she does but shes pretty cool with the whole 8 years coyote thing and with being blunt but idk i think i just am 50 50 on her lol

Lydia is the absolute best bc omfg she had some dating but overall she mostly figured stuff out herself and she had good sideplots with being a banshee and i thought her ajd parrish havibg that weird... smt was not needed but i did like the aspect of before she found out abt her sonar scream she needed to learn how to fight and i think it woldve been cool if they were not freaking tension filled. She was a strong character and they def put everything into her bc holy crap. Idk to me shes a big 10/10 character.

Derek is just freaking annoying man. Like sleeping with the enemy so many times? And he also never has smt besides a family problem or smt abt the person hes sleeping with. I was also kinda annoyed abt how isaac leaving after derek throws the glass never gets resolved. I feel like he also doesnt grow as a character much. Like two seasons hes like my sister died my uncle did it and family fire and my ex is the one who caused most of this and then s3 and its i slept with the enemy and my sisters back somehow after the family fire that my other ex caused and then s4 is braedens season and she was again so cool as a character on her OWN nd then the inly interesting thing was that he needed to learn how to use a gun. And then s5 he was barely there and s6 he was barely there so he didnt have growth i feel like. Not to say he wasnt hella funny at times

They all had good moments though like malias plot abt her mother was interesting (even if i couldnt really follow along) and kiras whole skinwalker thing which i was disapointed abt bc i wanted her to stay for s6.

They also make ALL the female characters be romantic with scott of least ONCE. Lydia kissed him, allison, kira, malia (which i thought was weird that they just, got rid of that in the movie and developed it in like 20 episodes and was rushed as hell) and then allison again. Please give me a character that isnt somehow drawn to scott i beg

A few more ideas from the roomates au:

BEFORE

Everything takes place after s4 vol.2 but Eddie didnt die obvs. And Max survived but she is 85% blind and her legs dont work that well still. Probably she's got a service dog thanks to the government (I very much like this hc).

Nancy ended up breaking up with Jonathan during the battle against Vecna/the MindFlayer. Also told Steve that she's in no way interested in his dream life and the 6 little nuggets thing. That she thinks he needs to find someone else who wants the same.

Robin (with Steves help obvs) asks Vickie out and they go on some dates, but soon realizes that they are too similar, practically the same person, and they just end up being very very good friends.

Also, she realizes that she doesnt identify estrictly as a woman and does a lot of research to then identify as nonbinary and uses both she and they pronouns.

Steve is supportive as always, altho he is a bit slow and fucks up a bit in the beggining. But he loves them so much and he corrects himself pretty quickly.

Eddie and Steve start to hang out a lot after the battle. In the beggining they just want to take care of Dustin and make sure he's alright. Also, Dustin needs to be around Eddie cause he almost died and he doesnt want to let go so Steve needs to make sure both of them are safe. they take turns driving him (and the party) around town.

Idk how, but Family Video didnt get distroyed and Steve and Robin are able to get Eddie a job there after all the ordeal.

Eddie thrives annoying Steve when they work together. Basically flirting nonstop.

Steve starts annoyed but with time he just gets more and more flustered. Robin likes to tease him about it. But they also make sure he knows she's there if he needs to talk about it.

How do they end up roomates you ask

Steve parents are practically nonexistent since for ever, but after all this shit goes down he wants some place to call it home and Robin is his home, his person.

Robin is very tired of her parents asking them if they're a couple and she's tired of faking being straight. So one day, after breaking up with Vicky and feeling the exhaustion from not being able to be themselves at home, they ask Steve if he wants to get a place with her.

They both are so excited about it.

They tell Eddie and Nancy the next time they all hangout (they do weekly drinks and movie at steves house)

Nancy wants to help them get a nice place so she gets pretty into searchmode.

Eddie just smiles and cheers about it. And they make sure their place is big enough so they'll be able to host not only them for but the kids (not that they're kids anymore) too.

if you have the time would you talk about what you expect to happen in season 6 of MLB?? And what you WANT to happen??? What's your wishlist!! I know it's supersupersuper early and we have to wait forever but it's fun to speculate, isn't it hehe

I personally hope it'll be the most LadyNoir Season there ever was mostly because I'm still sad that season 5 only had a few crumbs after the first few episodes. And that with Strike Back being the perfect set up!! What the heckie!

honestly im not too sure what to expect in s6. i find that mlb is a show that is simultaneously predictable and completely unexpected all at the same time. but also its messy. and they like being subversive. but also they dont forget things. but also they take so long to address certain things sometimes that it makes u think they did forget?? (also sometimes they do just forget certain things)

like how they spent s4 driving a wedge between ladynoir and spreading the burden of world-saving up between all their friends and classmates only to cast all the other miraculouses away and make ladynoir need each other more than ever. and then in s5 they kick things off w ladynoir having this tragic love that twists into being so painful that they seek each other out as adrienette and dont even retrieve all the miraculous until the end of the season. and ladynoir gets their feelings just like suppressed and sidelined. but also adrienette meets trouble in their relationship via all the adult disapproval and meddling but by the end they seeeeemingly seem perfect and happy

i feel like the interesting (and fun for me) thing to do with that is to unravel the cracks in their current world. while it seems as though gabriel made a 'good' wish, the fact of the matter remains that wishes should never be made. our protagonists' lives would not be in this state if making a wish did not come with unforeseeable consequences!! i think s6 will show that not all is right with the beautiful world presented at the end of s5, and they've already teased some of that with lila and her acquisition of the butterfly miraculous. obviously, as the two characters that are tortured most by the narrative, adrichat and maribug will face so many consequences of gabriel's lies, notably maribug, because she's helping uphold these false pretenses, because only she knows the full truth

i truly believe that adrien and marinette getting a wonderful lovely fairytale kiss at the end of the season puts them in this light as a loving couple who will never break up. and ive seen speculation that fans think that they would 'never' do that because breaking up would mean that 'love square can never get together post-reveal' which is just. untrue. like they would get over that so easily. even if they revealed right after breaking up. they'd talk it through eventually and realize all the problems their secret identities caused them. also the whole point of this show is that their love is doomed because of said identity secrets soooooo

anyway people have also said adrien would never break up with marinette. i agree. i think she will be the one to do it. like she WOULD break up with him if she thought being with her was dangerous or bad for him or if she plain did not deserve him. she is very much prone to denying herself happiness despite constantly being in pursuit of it. and i think this will happen either mid s6 or at the end of s6

if it doesn't then well... come back and call me a dumbass. but its a 26 episode season and a lot happens in one season when it comes to this show

also i hope giving her classmates/friends all miraculouses backfires. i know in the future they have a full team but besides bunnix (and alya and nino) i feel like a lot of what consists the future team is up in the air. i feel like something regarding holders losing miraculouses or getting their identities compromised in a dangerous way is up in the cards! also, things will happen to the world that feel weird and they'll have to solve it. also, i believe its possible that it will be exposed that a wish was made and ladybug will have to suffer with the consequences of not admitting to the world that a wish was made and that she 'failed' (and chat noir will come to her side and defend her maybe hopefully)

Things I dont get. When people say Steve was a jerk before becoming better person. Is it bad that I say I dont honestly ever seem him as jerk? Even before he was nice to Johnathan? Johnathan was a creep. Barbara was obviously jealous an based Steves personality on what she sees on other popular people. From my view of Stranger things steve was really nice. Even to Barbara. For the most part, I just see Steve having shitty friends. And falling into the problems of popularity.

Steve didn't hang out with the right crowd, that's for sure.

On the surface, yeah, he is a nice guy. He cares about Nancy. Yes, he did beat up Jonathan, but that was because he thought he and Nancy were doing stuff behind his back.

I haven't seen S1 in a while, so the details are fuzzy.

Barb and Nancy were the studious best frie ds that were the "perfect" kids, while Steve was the popular jock that probably wouldn't want to be caught dating an "unpopular" girl. I understand why Barb didn't like Steve because she knew he just wanted to "get into her pants," and she was right, but it's not like Steve left Nancy after that night. That wasn't his ulterior motive, however, so I understand that.

I don't know if you ship Stancy, but I don't. I think that ship has sailed. Especially by S4, yes, Steve and Nancy do have feelings for each other, but not the same life goals...

Jonathan's character is on the back burner at this point, so idc about Jancy right now. Wait. I do like Jancy, but S4 was all over the place with them. It's up to S5 to change my mind.

AHH YES SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY I FELL ASLEEP AND THEN FORHOT ABOUT IT BAHAHHAA!!! SO.

its set in s4 vol2, in a universe where nancy and robin go to hold of the bats and steve and eddie go defeat vecna (they all want to keep the kids as far away from the upside down as they can). now, things go a little differently. the bats begin to come through the vents in eddie's trailer, and nancy, being nancy, is like right. no ones dying today. not on my watch. so she cuts the rope, leaves robin calling after her, and goes to hold off the bats. they start attacking her, yes, but she has her gun. mild wounds appear, mostly on her back, but shes smart, and she knows what shes doing, so they all stay mild.

but then she hears robin.

then she sees robin.

she comes galloping out of the trailer, a tangle of limbs, screaming nancy's name as if her life depends on it.

nancy's heart drops.

because this wasnt part of the plan. robin was supposed to stay nice and safe whilst nancy shouldve taken the hits, shouldve pulled the shortest straw. and she was always planning on coming back to robin in the end.

then robin screams, and screams some more, and then nancy opens her mouth and does the same because now the bats are on robin.

nancy goes ballistic.

shes shooting blindly left and right, but all thats ringing in her ears is robin's pleas. every time she thinks shes done it, thinks the bats are all down, ten more come from each direction, sinking their claws into her flesh.

after around five minutes, she does it.

bat carcasses litter the ground. the ones that are still twitching she stomps on, hears their final breathes leave them.

far away, bleeding and bare, lies robin.

nancy chokes back a sob.

she runs over to the girl, cradles her in her arms. nearly collapses in relief as she realises shes still breathing.

robins death scene is along the lines of eddie's. nancy tries to comfort her, tries to convince her it'll be okay, that steve and eddie'll be coming soon and they can get her to a hospital, but robin just hums. nancy tries to lift her up but robin whimpers (and the wounds on her own back are starting to sting like a bitch, not that she would ever admit that), and grips onto nancy's arm, weakly. says no, no hospital, it's too late. says its not worth it, my times up.

says i love you, nancy wheeler, and i always will.

and nancys like love = platonic bc shes a girl 👍 got it.

she dont got it.

robin seems to see it in her eyes, sees that she thinks robin views nancy as just a friend, and grips tighter around nancys forearm.

says no nancy. i love you.

oh, thinks nancy. oh.

because she realises, after all this time, that she feels the same way.

and she wants to open her mouth, wants to beg the girl dying in her arms to just explain a little more. but before she can do that robin wheezes again, and chokes out something else.

she asks for steve. asks when he'll be there (but nancy knows there wont be time. and she think robin does too). tells nancy to make sure he takes care of himself, and he doesnt blame himself for what happened. make sure he knows she loves him more than anything.

nancy shakes. she's holding down sobs, making sure she doesnt jolt robin with her twitching limbs. she nods. she says yes, of course. of course.

then robin starts to cry. and soon nancy does too.

robin croaks about steve, about the kids, about her, her voice damp with tears. and nancy holds her, steady in her lap. she positions herself so shes draped over robin, and wraps her arms under her - a hug, sort of. in a little makeshift way.

nancy burrows her head into the crook of robins shoulder, coated in blood. she holds her tighter, can feel the girls strength escaping.

dont go, she croaks, muffled. dont leave us.

im sorry, says robin.

its not fair, she whispers in retaliation. i hate it.

anything nancy wheeler hates should be running for its life, jokes robin. youre incredible.

come back to me, nancy pleads.

youre incredible.

robin goes limp in her arms.

AND THEN. OOH BOY. THEN.

cut to around ten minutes later. steve and eddie come back from killing vecna (which ends the same way it did in canon). nancy's still sitting with robin's body, just staring straight ahead, shaking like crazy. eddie sees them first. nancy and him lock eyes, and nancy shakes her head. shakes her head as in dont let steve see.

dont break him again.

but its too late.

steve lets out a cry, a choked sob that so clearly was meant to be much more. long story short, he breaks down. he's screaming, crying, scratching at eddie when he tries to restrain him. he crawls over to robins body, gently cradles her out from nancy's lap and into his arms, screaming. robins head lolls back in his embrace, and her unstaring eyes meet nancy's. its only for a split second, before steve repositions his hands so he can properly hold robin. but she sees.

nancy cant move, cant do anything but follow steve with her eyes. again, shes shaking like a leaf in the wind, like shes about to fly off at any moment.

steve keeps whispering no, no, no. no, no. no. his whispers turn into screams, which turn into sobs, and he pulls robins body further into his arms, drapes his larger frame around hers, and breaks. eddie's distressed, keeps trying to gently pull him back, into an embrace, but steve wont have it. he screams, claws, kicks eddie, spits in his face even, at one point.

it takes nancy to even get him to look up.

she tells him what robin said. tells him how much he meant to her. tells him she loved him more than anything.

but she still left me, he whispers.

nancy pulls him into a hug. he doesn't fight back, but he still wails. they sit there, shaking and crying in a tangle of limbs for around two minutes, before steve pulls away and goes back to hugging robin's body, pressing kisses to her cold forehead and begging for her to wake up.

ANYWAYS - they have to leave robin's body. nancy's already injured and cant stop shaking long enough to be able to even clench her fists, and eddie has to focus on getting steve out, because he's in no condition to do that himself. steve throws a fit obviously, doesn't want to leave her, ad eventually ends up having a panic attack, which is when eddie and nancy gently escort him and themselves back through the gate.

now, the rest of the group's story follows canon. max still dies for a minute before el saves her, and still ends up in a coma. nancy and eddie find lucas and erica holding her, wailing as the paramedics arrive (erica asks for robin in a shaky voice, fiddling with the hem of her dress in the way eleven year olds do, and eddie's heart breaks).

then theyre in the hospital. nancy and eddie've managed to get steve to at least stop sobbing and screaming, and he sits, shaking, in a hospital chair, staring blankly at the wall with a very anxious looking dustin hovering beside him.

eddie asks about robin. asks what happened.

nancy snaps. she cant help it. it always went like this - something terrible would happen, something bad, and nancy would bottle up all of her feelings until she was bent of shape. barks out an 'i dont want to talk about it' before dropping her head to her chest and breathing out. she apologises, after a few seconds. eddie understands. he's very good at that, nancy realises.

they get the update about max, gain the knowledge that shes alive, but in a coma. nancy holds lucas as he cries, feeling as if the situation is all too familiar. but she doesn't break. not yet. because she has to stay strong for her family.

the day passes. lucas and erica decide they'll stay the night in max's room. eddie helps nancy get steve settled in his house (which - nancy isn't comfortable leaving him alone in that state, but it's not like she can take him home to her parents). nancy goes home. she doesn't hug her mother. her dad is asleep.

she goes straight up to her room, and screams. she screams and screams and screams. she tears a poster (the tom cruise one) off her wall, and rips it up, feels the fragmented edges of the paper underneath her skin. she grabs her pillows sitting neatly on her bed and throws them against the wall, watches them thud against the plaster. with a sweeping motion of her arm, her ceramic piggy bank is pushed from her desk onto the floor, and she stomps on it. over and over and over again, still screaming. she can feel the shards underneath her shoe, can feel them breaking more and more with each blow of her foot. there are tears streaming down her face, and she lets out a cracked sob, that turns into another scream. she can feel it rushing out of her throat, feels the way it scratches at the back of her neck till shes hoarse.

it takes ten minutes of that until her cries die down. she doesnt sleep that night - doesnt sleep for many after that either - and instead sits on her carpet, runs her fingers through it's thick strands, and shakes.

miles away, underneath nancy's world, underneath hawkins, It opens it's eyes. It sits up. It is given a choise, and It takes it.

Robin Buckley went into that gate, and a month later, Kas comes out.

AHHHHHHHHHH THIS WAS MEANT TO BE JUST A QUICK SUMMARY OF THE FIRST CHAPTER WTF WHY DID IT TURN INTO AN ESSAY. AND YEAH. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE TURNED INTO AN ACTUAL MULTI-CHAPTER FIC (FIRST CHAPTER IS IN THE WORKS AS WE SPEAK) BUT YEAH - COMPLETELY NANCY WHEELER, RONANCE, PLATONIC STOBIN CENTERED (i put steve and nancy througb the ringer in this, sorry). BECAUSE IT WILL HOPEFULLY BE A FIC, I WON'T TELL YOU THE MASSIVE PLOT TWIST/CHANGE/IDEA THINGY FOR THE END SO TEHRE'S NO SPOILERS BUT MY GOD - ITS FUCKING ANGSTY.

Here me out. I think s4 could be philoise. Sophie is not introduced yet & even if the ball happened in s3 dont forget there I'd suppose to be a gap between their 1 meeting to when the story takes off. Plus 1 of the reason we're polin now is because they don't want to aggravate the fan, well the same applies for philoise. Add the actress playing Marina is sick she might not be up to return to a project so close to what she's going through her story could be wrapped in 1 scene or with her not even present in s3, paving the way for s4 philoise.

Okay so before I answer this I'd first like to encourage all of you to support Ruby Barker, who plays Marina. Like I always do. She's an amazing actress who has been trough a lot and deserves all the love.

Now for those of you who don't know the context, Ruby Barker was quite open about her hospitalization in May 2022 due to mental health problems. She has subsequently been posting pictures of what we assume is a happy and healthy path to recovery. BUT we haven't heard anything about her taking on new projects. Which likely means she's not ready to go back to work yet. (And honestly, acting, is a job, glamourous as it is, if any of us had a job that caused us to have mental health struggles, the least recommended thing would be to go back to that job, until healing was well and truly accomplished)

Because of the situation with Marina's actress I do think s4 is going to be Benophie. I love Phillip as much as any other Philoise fan, but 1) Benophie fans were left pretty high and dry after they polin season was announced 2) Eloise has a lot of growing up to do, before she's ready to start her journey towards true love. At least with Benedict, we know he is open to finding love.

I disagree with what you said about not wanting to aggravate Philoise fans. Because, and I say this with all the kindness in the word, Philoise fans are less rabid than Polin fans. They're even less rabid than Benophie fans. (by a landslide but they are). You will find that when push comes to shove, Philoise fans will be happier to wait for s5 than Benophie fans ever would (and I say this with all the love in the word, Benophie fans, you are as scary as the Polins)

In fact, with the recent recasting of Francesca, there is a possibility that s4 will mash up An Offer From A Gentleman and about half of what happens in When He was Wicked.

I'd also like to add something very very obvious about TSPWL. that for Philoise to happen benophie NEEDS TO EXIST FIRST. at least one quarter of TSPWL involves Eloise and Phillip going in and out of My Cottage. The philoise proposal happens in Sophie's study and the scene where Phillip saves Benophie's son from a fever is pretty pivotal for Phillip and Eloise character development. Netflix can't just cut that part out and I will seriously riot if they decide to substitute those scenes of Philoise bonding with Benophie, with Kanthony or Polin.

the point of showing in s1 and s2 how much closer Eloise is with Benedict than she is with the rest of her siblings. Is to draw a parallel of how they both fall inlove with people who love them and accept them for who they are. Both in Sophie, who has always seen Benedict as his own person, and never confuses him with Bridgerton #1 or Bridgerton #3. And with Phillip who sees everything that people consider flaws in Eloise and celebrates her for it.

isn't it also interesting that Eloise and Benedict have the only 2 Bridgerton spouses who have suffered childhood physical abuse as well. Because here are two people who need to be loved so desperately it hurts because they have received so little love in their pasts, and that just tugs at that weak spot inside of Benedict and Eloise. Because they can give all the love and they just want to feel needed but still maintain their independence and holding on to their right to do what they want in life. Sophie and Phillip not only need them, but also support their individuality and encourage their self expression to the extreme.

So when the Philoise season does come Benophie kinda needs to have already happened.

Honestly, it took me a min to process this weeks episodes.

I have been reading people thoughts about the episodes, and i miss when the Islanders had their own personal opinion on MC.

I'm also getting tired of FB desperately trying to make LI so shady in this case, Lewie, for me.

Like pls make up your mind. Is Lewie a sweet guy, or is he a red flag. Is Jamal the chilled cool guy, or is he a snake. Like i get there has to be drama but why is everything surrounding MC at least season 2 and 4 we had Priya/Noah/Hope drama Lottie or mc/Rocco/Marisol drama and 4, the whole Lexi/Kobi/Valentina.

If this is an attempt to bring back the story line of MC and Bruno, they are failing horribly.

At this point, i just feel like Ozzy is obviously the main character, I like him, but i really wanted to pursue and look into the other routes before his slow burn.

I did like that we finally got to interact abit with amelia and she wasnt mixed in the drama, but Pls for the love of god just get over what you have to say because i promise you i dont care if its anything Zeph involved.

I liked Lewie getting jealous, and im not gonna lie. i liked the whole (Suresh/Arlo) moment looking at each other through the dates, i wish we could have flirted like we did then, but i was a Suresh Girlie. But definitely, last season gave me whiplash, and i was hoping for a cleaner route the first time around.

The whole recoupling was so rushed like i was literally just coupled up with Lewie the night before????

Also once again FB WHY ARE YOU MAKING HIM GO TO TALK TO CHLOE BEFORE US, then coming to me to sneak away with you at the day beds???

I'm calling it now, FB IF I SNEAK OUT AND I FIND THIS MAN WITH CHLOE IN A COMPROMISING POSITION IM RESTARTING MY ROUTE AND STICKING IT OUT WITH OZZY.

Like i love Lewie but i hate how they are doing his route filled with sneakiness.

Something bugging me is that we can't seem to talk to other ppl unless it's LI related. In Season 2 my MC was hooping around in my noah route. Right now, i feel like i barely spoke to Jamal or Roberto. it's either flirt with your first LI or Ozzy. Maybe they change it later. Sorry for venting!

Every single season since s2 we've all been like bring back s2. give us what we had back then. and I know when s2 was out people complained that MC was constantly in someone else's drama and it was too centered around the villa and not us. but why didnt they tweak that just a tiny bit instead of giving us the most boring season of life with s3. s4 I think is the closest we ever got to s2 because we actually had routes that season but we also had one of the ugliest MCs of all time. no need to drudge up the past on s5...I was a suresh girlie too and man they put literally everyone in hell every single week. I have some ptsd after that season and still havent been able to replay it. I know we said we wanted recouplings back after having zero last season but we actually wanted some control over them!! we didnt want fb to just dictate them all over again. fb lowkey has ruined the LJR route for me. one I hate that those THREE guys all have the exact same route. and then if you aren't romancing the other two u literally never see them or talk to them. S2 I never romanced Ibrahim or Gary and was never coupled with them but I actually got to know them and even though we were just friends I knew so much about them. We know nothing about the other guys. Some people have sent me asks about head canons for Roberto and I havent been able to answer them bc I literally dont know that man. the only people I know are Ozzy and Lewie and even then the convos have been kind of surface.

what do u think the st fandom is gonna be like after s5 drops and finishes.. like idk but I've just been wondering cuz this is the last time we're getting a new season 🤔 do you think it's gonna stick around or what? I noticed that usually after every season the fandom goes kinda radio silent after around a month but the fandoms still actually p active after s4 so. I wonder if the potential spin off is gonna keep the popularity up or even surpass it a la brba and better call saul(not that I think st is as good as those shows but I think they're both kinda iconic in their own ways)

i think stranger things will have a similar kinda legacy and impact as harry potter. the last movie came out in 2011 and its still a MASSIVE fandom and community that write, make fanart, make edits and gifs, collect merch, the whole shebang. the storys long done but the fandom has never died. i just went on ao3 and guess how many pages i had to go through just to reach a fic that came out more that two days ago….. TWENTY!!!!!???

stranger things is one of the only fandoms for a fictional media ive seen that is similar to the size and commitment of the harry potter fandom. i would say star wars also is a close comparison but a lot of people have mixed feelings about all the new ones (rightfully so honestly. daisy ridley slays but why the fuck did reylo kiss. thats not at all how you write enemies to lovers.) most star wars fans just love the classics like empire strikes back so the fandom isnt as strong as harry potter. and it doesnt really feel too much like a fandom in the same way that stranger things and harry potter do. i could go on about this but i’ll go back to my original point.

i dont think any passage of time will negatively affect the success of this show. you know how youve probably seen a bunch of iconic classic movies from the 70s, 80s, and 90s that your family got you to watch? this will be the show of the 2010s that future generations will watch because their parents loved it. its not even that the show will go down in history, it already has!! its so cool to really look into how much of an impact this show has actually made. im really glad ive been able to witness it and have been watching the show since it first came out.

another thing that’ll probably keep this show iconic and new generations watching it is the kid actors. these are all of their first “big break”. theyre all probably gonna go on to play so many more iconic roles into their adulthood and eventually people will look at them in stranger things in the same way that we currently look at young winona ryder in beetlejuice. thats mad trippy to think about tho. in my head theyre all perpetually 14.

i think this fandom will always be active because there is just SO MUCH to talk about!!!! and this would be the case no matter what they ended up doing with the relationships and characters, but once byler is canon that’ll definitely play a huge role in keeping the fandom alive. people who have never seen the show will probably start watching it after they hear that the main characters are gay. no one will ever stop writing byler fics. people who really really love a specific couple or ship dont ever really lose interest. if you love the characters and love them together, that love never just goes away and people will ALWAYS want more content so theyll always love reading fics and seeing fanart. snowbaz is a good example of this. i read carry on when i was 16. i just turned 23 and i read snowbaz fanfiction all the fucking time. im currently reading one thats amazing and they update weekly and every monday i get so excited to read a story from characters that i was introduced to SEVEN YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!! that’ll probably be the same case for byler. and lumax too.

i think the spinoffs will definitely be talked about but i dont think theyll be the reason the fandom stays alive. i honestly kinda would rather it be more separate from the og stranger things. i hope its good and treated in the same way that fantastic beasts was treated and not the shitty new star wars movies. and you didnt ask this but i also have a hunch that the spinoff will be about kali.

to sum all that up, no i dont think this fandom will ever die. its so iconic.

What do you think of Millie saying that mildew’s relationship is stronger than ever now after season 4? I know she probably doesn’t know how season 5 is gonna go but it’s kind of making me lose my confidence a little about Byler /:

i understand that, and i honestly felt the same initially, then i realized it literally doesnt matter. actors always put their two cents in interviews, but its not a reliant source because they dont write the show. millie also had a number of questionable takes to begin with, such as preferring brenner as el's more prominent father figure than hopper apparently; its yikes

i also believe this with brett. his opinions about byler gives me reassurance that we're not delusional, and its nice to see people from the cast talk about it in a positive light, but its not something im completely relying on. i mostly just treat it as crumbs

noah is kind of a different case because he literally plays will, so im giving his statements a bit more credibility even if hes a little biased with byler.

but other than that, dont fret anon :)

look back to the various evidence we collected in the past 3 months. look at the tumblr follower count. in the rate we're growing, we're gonna surpass de*tiel. it shows we're far from wrong in how we interpret the show and mike and will's relationship.

look at the ratio between malware and byler from all social med sites when it comes to content.

look at the script poll votes where barely anyone voted for the monologue, even with the bylers' help.

and lastly, the most important evidence of all, just have to look at the clear visual hints and narrative cues in the show. will has done nothing but lose in the show. the most basic of conflicts when it comes to a good story is giving the character struggles in order to give them the most satisfying conclusion. they established will's wants this season, and that want is spending the rest of his life with mike. if they dont give him that, its not a satisfying ending, and it simply doesnt make narrative sense if it doesnt give some form of catharsis to the audience after emphasizing on his struggles so much for 4 seasons straight. they want us to feel for him, to feel sorry for him. with this said, they are basically obligated to give him his ideal happy ending. and that ending only makes sense with mike.

also consider the framing of byler's shots specifically, the way they approached the individual arcs with mike, el and will.

remember that s4 is supposed to make you feel like you lost, and that includes the characters. will thought he lost mike, but with how mike confided and reassured will in the end as his final moment, and not with el, is crucial. consider the fact theyre bringing back older dynamics and they will not be introducing new characters in the final season. and also obviously, the framing of the final scene.

this got long but i totally feel you, byler doubt is the worse orz i hope this helped a little bit to alleviate that ^^

well jenkins won my poll from a while ago so i guess its my time to talk about jenkins. lemme kinda go back to the beginning about it.

So, Season 12 is when i started being a blaseball fan. I officially on the site roll up to the canada moist talkers on the election sunday that the big siesta starts so im out here like what the fuck is going on while my pal corvoda is a decent bit more interested than i am at that point but i digress.

I miss the coffee cup and related events and i finally start showing my face in the discord, i think i got started on jenkins because i had stumbled across some of the blaseball rp twitters and wanted to join in, so i picked a blaseball player who didn't have a twitter at the time which was jesús and jenkins and i picked jenkins.

there is a message specifically telling me that jenkins doesnt get much love compared to other players on the team and lemme tell you, i took that PERSONALLY.

the first couple things i learned about jenkins was assorted stuff from their wiki. Flaming eye, gamer, and from greer's wiki i think i learned that jenkins and greer were.... something. relationship something.

after a while, i took a crack at making a jenkins interp that combined two other interps i had seen, big lizardy jenkins and mostly humanoid jenkins and ended up with salamander jenkins, eventually switching over to leopard gecko jenkins.

the thing that both entertained me and made me sad is that nothing ever really happened to jenkins. this player who i loved so much didnt recieve a stat buff till late expansion, despite being active with the same stat total since s4 election. sure they got crows mod but rarely did they play in bird weather just cuz of how weather works.

if i can be salty a little bit, i've always had a weird relationship with greer because of how much we focus on her. i know buff greer was funny and it definitely is super funny dont get me wrong but jenkins was a great pitcher until the stat creep hit. we still has to spend several elections on greer because she was a fan favourite. i feel in my heart that if it had been jenkins in that feedback there probably wouldnt have been as much of a push to get them back and idk that always scared me.

its not that jenkins was truly irredeemably bad at the time but compared to a player like greer? if we had to choose between greer or jenkins in something i know greer is winning and that does weird things to my brain sometimes idk i will digress again

jenkins being an active player vs kennedy trevino tyvi who are (were, in tyvi's case) fuckin dead is a wierd space to be in too. especially now that jenkins is on the tacos in new era i rotate between happiness that the tacos like them and deathly fear that theyre going to misconstrue something about them because jenkins is just so specifically Talkers-fied that you really had to be there for the jenkins conversations to understand jenkins' vibes. Its one of those things that like, jenkins was an s1 talker, they had all this time on the team so you just Got the vibes.

my sad thing about jenkins on the tacos? i feel like i cant talk about them anymore. my jenkins is talkers jenkins and i dont know the tacos and i am afraid. this is not my jenkins good anymore this is a whole other jenkins now and i think.... thats really the thing thats fucking me up about this new era. but at least jenkins is doing okay last i checked.

uhhhh lemme actually say some fun headcanons here... Jenkins has a math related degree in Orb Studies and can determine the exact salt content in food just by licking it. they eventually get a pet gecko named Adkins.
