i will be totally honest with y’all i can’t see Hobie (ATSV) in a romantic relationship ever. like, i can’t see him seeing anybody ever as “the one” or even having multiple partners or anything. I can barely see him having friends outside of the ones he already has. I can somewhat see the “are we dating or are we not dating” thing being something he gets involved in, but not really. i think a lot of people either don’t know or just forget that he’s probably homeless and that his world is shit rn and that stuff he needs isn’t easy to come by 😭😭 and a lot of homeless people just don’t have time/energy for shit like romantic relationships and the stuff he’s doing canonically because they’re so focused on trying to survive. That’s why when I make posts about him casually flirting or whatever it’s never serious, it never goes anywhere, because honestly! Between music shows, trying to find your next meal, fighting the power, trying to find a shelter for the night, helping other homeless people and others in need as both a civilian and Spider-Man, dealing with dimensional threats, trying to find a place to get clean, i just don’t think Hobie has time to even consider it. Sure, maybe there are facilities in the HQ to make it easier, but after that stunt, i think he’d avoid using them as much as possible. do you see what i mean??

Bought my first foundation since Fall '21.

#gotta cross out the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk out of my foundation wishlist #I was originally gonna wait till the sephora spring sale on April 5th but noticed the Armani Beauty website had a better deal #also there's makeup that's cheaper on the brand's own website than sephora and this foundation was no exception #I was hoping Jouer would be empty by the time I purchased it but it's reached the scrape-stage so I'll give it 5/6 more wears at most.#the way I had contained myself these last few years to finish all the high-end foundations I had hoarded to combat trendy consumerism-#b4 getting anything new. okay facing consequences of my actions

#I thought I’d gotten away with it this time #okay it’s 3am and I may have discovered something that completely ruins me #everyone is asleep so I can’t tell if this is me being sleep deprived or not!#so I need to sleep now but I haven’t cleaned my code up or written my answers #I do Not have time #if I don’t sleep now I’m gonna be having a bad time tomorrow morning and I am significantly less productive rn than I could be #with other people around I kinda need that y #so I should go to bed. but also. this code needs cleaning. but also. even if I fall asleep now I’m only getting like 5 hours MAX #I need a good few hours tomorrow morning to have a shot at doing this properly #so it would be more useful to sleep now and wake up as early as possible than keep going tonight bc I’m not going to finish tonight #okay. fuck. I hate this #if I could think straight I’d be able to fix this easy which is probably a good reason to sleep #it’s just an annoying logical problem that I gotta follow through bc currently I’m stuck between three possibilities and there might be more #I have these two rasters and I gotta calculate the area overlap #the first method counts the number of presence points in each (probably) and then counts the number in overlap raster w manually set values #the second counts total predicted points and points where they’re predicted to be alone and does a calculation with that for each species #that one with all points from both species + pseudoabsence. vs method 3 which does that with just individual species coordinates #method 1&2 are now homologous now I JUST caught the logical error but method 3 is what he gave us #but actually he might have fucked up in not including pseudoabsence #i don’t know if method 3 works for two different species either honestly #it gives me results I like much more (my overlap is 100% for one of the species and that shoooouldnt rlly happen even if it’s possible) but #I think it might actually just be wrong because it can’t account for #wait so the line is taking the prediction for all coordinates for each species for each species’ initial coordinates. and not pseudoabsence #and that set of predictions for each species coordinate set is then taken and yeah it’s no longer comparable you can’t count each alone #not with two different species bc you need an overlapping dataset to do that OKAY I have solved that logical problem my initial method works #which is annoying bc the result sucks but whatever I checked the rasters and it’s actually identical so #okay now I’ve figured that out. twenty minutes later. sleep I think it’ll help most #luke.txt

It’s hard to make music when you have no instruments or software or skills or talent and also you don’t actually know how to play anything or make music and you’re dumb as hell

I don’t understand computers.#I have an ooooold laptop buried in a box someone with sooo many unfinished songs. albums and albums worth. mostly just missing vocals #I used to sit and work on music for hours and hours #pretty much the only productive thing I did my first year of college was make an album #and now I’m just like… I don’t understand how anything works. I’m so old.#but I guess it’s… ya know… it’s been awhile and you can’t just expect to jump back in with the same skill and comfort #you’ve got get all the tedious beginning stuff out of the way. that’s just how it goes. it builds and builds.#it’s the opposite of eating an elephant. it’s frankensteining and elephant. gotta do it piece by piece.#basically I got another hand me down laptop. clean slate freshly wiped.#then I spent about 5 hours just setting it up and thennnnnn getting a bad virus bc I’m stupid as hell and don’t want to pay for software #I lost my software installer I already had so I rushed to 🏴‍☠️ the first decent one I could find #and then when I got warnings I said ‘meh the antivirus is probably exaggerating’#ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? i saw Jesus Christ Superstar for the first time the other day and while I had a bit of a hard time following the plot i do have to say i really relate to jesus having a full on panic attack about being crowded and grabbed by random peoples like yeah buddy same

I love running so much. Like it’s not complicated you don’t need to be good at it you don’t need to go out and buy xyz beforehand. You don’t even need fancy running shoes really if you’re just running on your own. All it is is just “can I run? Do I want to run?” And if the answers are yes then you can just go out and run! You don’t have to be the fastest person in the world. There’s no standard. You don’t have to run a sub 25 5k or anything you just go out and put one foot in front of the other and enjoy it. Running is literally the best more people should do it

If I can cut a couple seconds off my average 5K time then I’ll be happy!#Like I dropped from like a 30 minute 5K to just over a 29 minute 5K and I was so happy with myself #And even when I’m not running competitively like get me some good tunes and give me like a half hour I’ll be good for the rest of the day #The conditions don’t have to be good either like I’ve ran in the rain it’s the best thing ever #Anyway yeah. If you want to do something productive go on a short little run!!! It’s fun I swear #No matter how slow or fast or whatever you may be. Don’t care abt anyone else #And a word of advice to any fellow XC runners: don’t beat yourself up over times. Especially if you’re on a team and competing #It’s one thing to know you’ve gotta improve a little and it’s another to be down in the dumps over a bad race #Trust me I’ve been there it sucks. a PSA for anyone dressing as Ron Mael for Halloween

(Or any other time of year, because that is also completely valid :))

Idk if deciphering horrendously pixellated scans of old magazine articles is a talent unique to me, but I managed to decipher the entirety of that Groom at the Top one so here you go: Ron's hair regimen.

The article is from 1974, so Sparks would've been living in England at the time and thus the Yardley brilliantine will be most authentic -- but if you're in the US and want to grab everything on one trip to Walmart, there's another brilliantine from a brand called Tres Flores. A bit stickier and shinier, but it works just as well.

And okay, Ron didn't actually use Aqua Net, but the hairspray he mentioned is no longer made. Everything I've ever read about 1970s hair care, though, says that all the "dry look" spray products for men were basically just repackaged Aqua Net.

So without any further ado, let's hear the facts from Ron. (Article transcribed below)

"First of all it's essential that your hair is fairly short. Remember that maintaining this style involves a daily ritual every morning. Otherwise it won't last very long."

"To start with wash your hair, to get rid of all the grease from the day before. After it's washed leave it quite damp, don't towel it off too much. This is quite important."

"Then spread some Brylcreem on one of your index fingers, rub it between your palms and apply it to the hair. Then do the same with an equal amount of Brilliantine."

"Next you have to comb it using preferably the wide end of the comb so that it leaves wide tracks in the hair, for some reason it looks better if you have fairly fallow grooves running across your head."

"Once that's done you can then spray it with a kind of lacquer called Brut Extra Hold Hair Spray. After that you're all set for the rest of the day. It's a long process, about 10 minutes every morning, but once you've done it you can forget about it for the next 24 hours."

"If you suffer from electricity in the hair you can add some anti-static spray -- the sort that's meant for records. We tried it for a while. I don't know whether it cured the static, but it sure does wonders for the hair."

So successful has Ron's image been that he is quite prepared to adopt it for the rest of his life.

"I've got quite used to it now, it's become a habit. It's my natural style. I'm not trying it out to see how it works. This isn't a phase I'm going through. This is the way I am. Till death do us part."

Naturally enough as with all progressive ideas, there are many drawbacks to the Ron Mael look. Ron is only too well aware of them.

"When I'm walking on the streets I get people yelling wanting to know who let me loose or telling me how much I look like their father. Also having short hair means you can get very cold in the ears at times."

But there are still advantages.

"It's a good way of starting conversations at a party. All you have to say is, 'So what do you think of my hair then?'"

A couple tips from me: "quite damp" doesn't mean "still dripping", you'll want a VERY generous fingertip full of product if your hair is a bit longer (like present-day Ron length), and try to fuss with your hair as little as possible when combing it into the desired shape so that it doesn't lose too much of its hold.

Not gonna lie, I'm still looking for a more "socially acceptable" way to wear this stuff as a female, 'cos it makes my hair feel soooooo soft and nice, and it smells fucking AMAZING...
