okay facing consequences of my actions
#I thought I’d gotten away with it this time#okay it’s 3am and I may have discovered something that completely ruins me#everyone is asleep so I can’t tell if this is me being sleep deprived or not!#so I need to sleep now but I haven’t cleaned my code up or written my answers#I do Not have time#if I don’t sleep now I’m gonna be having a bad time tomorrow morning and I am significantly less productive rn than I could be#with other people around I kinda need that y#so I should go to bed. but also. this code needs cleaning. but also. even if I fall asleep now I’m only getting like 5 hours MAX#I need a good few hours tomorrow morning to have a shot at doing this properly#so it would be more useful to sleep now and wake up as early as possible than keep going tonight bc I’m not going to finish tonight#okay. fuck. I hate this#if I could think straight I’d be able to fix this easy which is probably a good reason to sleep#it’s just an annoying logical problem that I gotta follow through bc currently I’m stuck between three possibilities and there might be more#I have these two rasters and I gotta calculate the area overlap#the first method counts the number of presence points in each (probably) and then counts the number in overlap raster w manually set values#the second counts total predicted points and points where they’re predicted to be alone and does a calculation with that for each species#that one with all points from both species + pseudoabsence. vs method 3 which does that with just individual species coordinates#method 1&2 are now homologous now I JUST caught the logical error but method 3 is what he gave us#but actually he might have fucked up in not including pseudoabsence#i don’t know if method 3 works for two different species either honestly#it gives me results I like much more (my overlap is 100% for one of the species and that shoooouldnt rlly happen even if it’s possible) but#I think it might actually just be wrong because it can’t account for#wait so the line is taking the prediction for all coordinates for each species for each species’ initial coordinates. and not pseudoabsence#and that set of predictions for each species coordinate set is then taken and yeah it’s no longer comparable you can’t count each alone#not with two different species bc you need an overlapping dataset to do that OKAY I have solved that logical problem my initial method works#which is annoying bc the result sucks but whatever I checked the rasters and it’s actually identical so#okay now I’ve figured that out. twenty minutes later. sleep I think it’ll help most#luke.txt

⇢ Authors note: This is my mini series for the summer! Get your tissues, things to take your anger out on, and sit back and watch the drama unfold. Shall we begin?
The winter’s coldness is hardly enough for you to bear. Even though it’s just the beginning, Seoul is known to just go from season to season without a fucking warning. Not only that, but the first snowfall is going to come soon. The weatherman has been talking about it non-stop for the past few days. It’s going to be a brutal one he says but he says that every year so why believe?
Turning off your alarm, you take a few minutes to collect yourself and stretch. Barely any sleep once again but that’s an everyday thing now.. without Jimin. It’s been some rough months not having his body wrapped snugly onto yours. These days you long for his touch, but completely dread at the same time for very good reasons.
Your kitten greets you with small licks on your thigh in which in return you pet her head softly with a smile.
‘‘ At least I still have you babygirl. You keep me company. “ You coo softly while grabbing your phone off the charger. Texts from your best-friend just spamming you with love and apparently she’s coming over. Great. That’s normal.  But one text catches your eye. Jeon Jungkook.
You furrow your eyebrows as your finger slides to open it after typing in your password. In relief, he’s just checking up on you as always. Rolling your eyes, you muster enough strength to actually pull yourself out of bed. The cold tiles hit your feet like icicles. You jump from from foot to foot cursing yourself for not turning on the floor heaters as you walk out the room. Clara, your kitten, follows you out purring nonchalantly with a few meows here and there.
‘’ Alright Clara I hear you. Im getting your food now.’’ You chuckle, grabbing her food from the bottom kitchen cabinet right under the sink and pour her half a cup of cat food and a whole bowl of water.
After snacking on your morning granola bar you prepare yourself for your morning routine. Shower, brush teeth, skin care, get dressed, clean. Your phone dings once more just before stripping yourself of your clothes. You don’t bother to look it’s probably just a social media notification.
Drying your hair with a towel as you get out the steaming hot shower, you head straight for the mirror. Dark circles remain under your eyes from months of barely any sleep. You sigh, and gently rub under them. Jimin is the cause of this. Why would he do this to you. Surely enough he would not like to see you like this at all. The worriedness he would have over you is huge. But he has moved on and you just have to accept it no matter how in-love you still are with him.
As you clean up around the living room, another ding from your phone occurs. A groan escapes your lips as you place the pillows back as they should be. In hopes of it just being your manager giving you some good news, you let out a sigh and plop yourself down on the grey suede couch. Three new messages. Jeon Jungkook, who has text you twice, and Ryan your bestfriend.
‘‘ Damn it Ryan why must you consistently text me twenty four sev- “
“ Beause I need to know if you’re okay.”
You jump and drop your phone onto the hardwood floor from the voice that comes from around you.
“ Holy fucking shit you scared me! “  You whine, turning around to face your best-friend. She smiles and holds out her arms for a hug. You roll your eyes and open yours waiting for her embrace.
“ Oh i’ve missed you so so so so so so so-”
“ You just seen me yesterday..” Your voice sarcastic and bland as you let go of her. You sit on the couch first followed by Ryan sitting right next to you.
She looks good today, the navy blue coat she has on suits her very well. Although, you cannot figure out why she decided to wear leggings today. It’s going to rain a bit later but you disregard that seeing as though she’s the fashion deisgner and not you.
You. The model and seemingly ex girlfriend of one of the biggest solo idol in the world right now. Thats what they call you in the news, headlines in magazines, and real life as if you don’t have a real name and just was his acessory. Your modeling career had taken off way before dating him. The world, or Seoul to say the most, didn’t acklowledge you to that point yet.
“ Okay but still. You know we should be roomates. It’ll be easier for me to watch over you. “
Your head turns towards her quickly shaking no, “ I don’t need to be looked over im 20 years old.”
Silence takes place for the next few seconds. You know what she’s going to say next but pray she doesn’t. Those words will just make you even more upset. It’s already enough you have that constant reminder in your head.
You watch her fiddle with the rings on her index and pinky fingers. “ But you know… you haven’t been the same since you and Jimi-”
“ Don’t fucking say it. I don’t want to hear it.”
She sighs harshly and stands up, “ Im just worried about you Yn”
“ Don’t be. Im fine. “ That lie escaped your tongue way too easily.
Truthfully you haven’t and won’t be fine. Everyday there is something new about that girl and Jimin on twitter. Gossip pages, twitter fanpages, and online entertainment pages just always talking about them. They did this, they did that today. Oh we caught them going to this and that restaurant. That used to be you and him.. but now everyone has forgotten about you and focused on them.
Ever since you’ve told reporters and paparazzi repeatedly that you will not be holding or going to any interview they just stopped. A few calls here and there to your manager about scheduling one but she knew you didn’t want to do them so every request is denied. Although its been a year and some change, they still seem to want your side and your opinion to weigh in on. I guess that’s what happens when you date an Idol.
“ The door.. Y/N the door somebody is at the door.” Ryan says, tapping you over and over. You shake your head interrupting your thoughts for the time being. A few more knocks come through.
Finally up onto your feet you harshly walk to the door with each step making noise. It’s to early in the morning for someone to actually be knocking at the door right now. Whoever it is better be dropping off some sort of package, or they’ll surely get a piece of your mind.
Your frail hands grab onto the doorknob and swing it open. Your eyes almost pop through your sockets. How? How did he know you were here? You certainly did not tell him your knew address.
There he stands, his tall frame looking down on you. Lips formed into a tiny pout along with his eyebrows scrunched slightly. His brown eyes forming an ungodly stare into yours with his specs on.
“ Yn! Do you know how worried I was about you? Why did you not answer my messa-”
“Jungkook how do you know where I live?” You pace your hands on your hips, raising an eyebrow at him. To your knowledge, you never gave Jungkook your new apartment address.
Jungkook swallows slowly and puts on his best innocent face on. Oh please like that would work in this moment right now. The only person who has this address is Ryan because she’s the one who helped you move. Even if you had the choice of not giving it out to Ryan you would of but you couldn’t do that to her. She would of been so upset.
Ryan’s voice blares in the background full of excitement. Here we fucking go. “Jungkook! Come in Come in.”
“ Ryan says I could come in.” He says quickly, brushing past you and removing his shoes.
You heavily sigh and slam the door shut. What is this a family reunion? On your way back to the couch you notice them laughing and giggling like two five year old children. They don’t even notice you when you sit right across from them.
You study their expressions. Their chemistry is something so strong. The way their eyes light up when they meet, the way that Jungkook smiles and scrunches his nose more often when she’s around. You miss that. You miss doing that.
“ So are you both coming along this afternoon?”
Your attention focuses back on them. Of course you weren’t paying attention once again.
Your eyes slowly meet with theirs, “ Huh? Where are we going?”
“ Kookie finally bought a house! He wants us to come tonight for chicken and beer. You’re coming right?”
A sharp pain goes through your heart. If the both you you guys go then theirs a possibility that Jimin was invited too. After all, that is his brother. If Jimin comes then he’s most likely going to bring Isabel. A recipe for disaster. Your poor heart, that most likely could not bare the sight of them infront of you, would shatter into a million pieces.
Jungkook’s expression is ready to burst into happiness or to turn into a pout awaiting for your answer. If you let him down he’ll surely be mad at you. But putting yourself before him this time would be the right thing to do right?
“ Listen Jungkook I.. don’t think I can go.” You start off, playing with your hair with your head down.
“ I’ll space you two apart.”
Your face automatically lifts itself up in shock. Somehow, that little confirmation of Jimin being there, gave you some hope. Hope for what though?
 “ Wha-what do you mean?”
Jungkook sighs heavily with his hand going up to his brown hair running it through lightly. “ I’ll make sure you two are distanced apart. You don’t want to come because of Jimin but I’ll make sure I’ll invite more people to keep you company and away from him. Okay?”
“ Please Yn. I’ll be there too.” Ryan begs, laying her head on Jungkook’s shoulder. Jungkook smiles a little, caressing her cheek with his other hand upon waiting your response.
Weird. When did they get so close?
The first thing you want to say is that you really could not go. But they already know the excuse now. You might as well just give in.
‘‘ Fine. What time tonight? “
Tumblr media
Skincare and makeup products are scattered everywhere on your vanity. You needed the perfect look for tonight that says ‘Yes im doing fine without you’, but in reality you’re doing worse. This is the night where you’ll actually see him. Damn it’s been a while.
After you apply your highlight you step back and take a look at yourself. Not bad at all. You smile to yourself and start cleaning up the mess of products you had  distributed across the vanity. A new text appears on you phone as soon as you gather everything up and put it back in it’s place. Grabbing your phone, it’s Ryan giving you the address to Jungkook’s new house.
You sigh and mentally prepare yourself, ‘‘ Okay Yn. You can do this. It’s just one night of conversing among people. Who knows, maybe you’ll meet someone new.”
Before heading out you grab your coat and scarf. Clara follows you all the way to the door letting out her little meows once again. You bend down to pet her head lightly with a smile. “ Clara im coming back. I’ve put food in your bowl babygirl.”
She purrs under your touch then walks away to settle herself in her bed. You take one last final look at your decent sized apartment before heading out.
The subway ride was agonizing pain for you due to it being 30 minutes long. Well, at-least you can ride the subway now. Your mind wouldn’t even of thought of that when you were with him. Everybody would have noticed you and bombard you with questions.
The outskirts of Seoul is peaceful and quite. Not many people live over here. Mostly famous actors and idols. The taxi takes a few minutes to get to the fairly clean subway station. Once you’re inside you take a good look at the driver who seems to be eyeing you in suspicion. You pull out your phone and read the words to the address exactly to him. The taxi man pulls of into the empty streets of god knows where.
All it took was a ten minute ride and then you’re there. The taxi man pulls up to a security guard booth. Just beyond the gates is more street but  by squinting your eyes you can make out just a few newly built houses.
‘‘ Who are you here to see?” The taxi driver says.
“ Jeon Jungkook.?
The driver talks to the man for a few seconds before you see the security guard pick up a phone and start dialing. The security is extremely uptight, thats good. After a few moments of speaking the security guard finally opens the gates to be let through.
As you pull up to the house you’re automatically mesmerized on how big and beautiful it is. There’s fresh bushes and some white roses growing in the front of it complementing the white modern style home. The roundabout is full of luxurious cars, in which might be all the other guests.
‘‘ 10 dollars’‘ He says. You give him the ten, thank him, and grab your purse, closing the door behind you.
Your eyes meet face to face with the expensive house. Behind you is the tire wheels backing up and running off back down the roundabout. The time on your watch reads 8:15. Only fifteen minutes late, not bad right?
With each step you take fear quivers inside of you. What if he opens the door? What if that girl opens it instead? The wind blows harsh-fully hitting your cheeks making them turn slightly colored. You raise a small, shaky fist to knock on the door. Your blood turning cold, and face turning pale already. Your anxiety already taking its place inside of your body.
The door swings open revealing Ryan smiling from ear to ear. She pulls you inside without even a greeting. You kick your shoes off in a hurry as she pulls you more and more inside. Scanning the area around you, its a nice huge place. First the both of you pass the entrance, then the chef sized kitchen, which then leads you to the spacious living room where everybody seems to be sitting.
All eyes are on you now with some familiar faces and some not. They smile and greet you one by one and you slightly bow your head with a fake smile.
‘‘ Ah Yn, nice to see you again huh.’‘ Hoseok, the smiley one says, getting up from his seat to greet you once more.
‘‘ Nice to see you to Hoseok. Is Chae-Yeon here? I’ve baked the cookies she likes.’’  You say, holding up the big tuba-wear of freshly baked cookies. Nobody can resist those.
‘‘ No she had to work sadly, but I will enjoy them for her.’‘ He chuckles, bringing the tuba-wear out of your dainty, cold hands.
A very familiar voice booms from behind you causing you to turn around. “ Yn! You actually did come!’’ Jungkook, the owner of the voice exclaims. He wipes his hands with a napkin just before pulling you into a hug.You pat his back just before letting go.
Ryan smiles and shakes her head, “ I told you she would come.’’
Only one hour and 30 minutes into the festivities and half of the people here are drunk or nearly there. You on the other hand do not drink at all. Staying sober throughout this whole party is a must. Who knows what would happen if you start drinking and saying things.Ryan seems to be doing good with Jungkook who’s laying on the floor laughing and cracking jokes with her head laying on his stomach giggling along with him. The others have casually invited themselves into the guest game-room to play some pool.
You just sit there on the couch, munching on a cookie and smiling and laughing here and there at one of Seokjin and Jungkook’s back-to-back jokes that seem to never leave the air.
Only for a knock on the door to interrupt  their flow of jokes.
‘‘ I got it I got it.” Seokjin stammers, placing a beer bottle down and stumbling towards the door. You freeze, face turning pale once more. It’s them. It could be them. Your teeth find their way to your lips and you begin to chew on it excessively.
Ryan notices it and automatically gets up from Jungkook, ‘‘ Come Yn, lets go see if the game of pool is interesting.’‘
You nod your head slightly as you get up from the couch. What are you worrying for? You look extravagant tonight. No need to worry yourself.
Just before taking your first few steps you stop, that voice. That oh so familiar voice begins to inch closer and closer. The famous laugh that he always tries to stifle by putting his hand over his mouth, that you’ve always thought was so fucking cute, fills the air.
You don’t know what got over you, but you sit back down dragging Ryan down with you. “ Yn? What are you doing I thought you wanted to avoid him.’’
‘’ No it’s okay. Im going to be fine.’‘ You say, awaiting upon his arrival into the room.
The footsteps are haunting you with each step they take.
one..two..three..four..five..si-
‘‘ Everyone, Isabel and Jimin are here.’‘ Seokjin stammers, smiling wide clearly drunk from all the beer consumed.
Your eyes go directly towards his. The pit of your stomach flutters with nervousness as you hold the long stare with him. His facial expression shocked but not showing it at all. His partner, who’s arm is linked with his, smiles brightly at everyone bowing her head slightly to them including you.
‘‘ Sorry we are late. Jimin didn’t want to come out of his home studio but I’ve made him come along with me.’‘ Her voice gentle and soft.
‘‘ Yn I forgot let me show you my new painting i have received.” Jungkook says quickly, trying to escape you from the awkwardness. You can bare it though its not as bad as you thought.
‘‘ Maybe later Kookie. I’m going to grab some juice.”  You say, getting up from your spot. You brush past Jimin lightly with Ryan tailing along with you.
The spacious kitchen was perfect for you to escape for just a moment. Silence is golden. Ryan sighs, pouring you and her a glass of juice. Nothing is to be said yet. But you know she really wants to have her input.
Raising the glass to your lips, you take a sip letting the tanginess run across your tongue and down your throat. ‘’ Say it Ryan.’’
She puts her cup down and looks at you with your eyebrows furrowed, ‘’ You aren’t fine. Please just avoid them for the night.’’
You knew it was coming but you have to face the fact that they area couple anyways so why avoid it? Maybe your mind will finally accept it to see it in person.
‘‘ I have to face it one way or another so why not now?’‘
She shakes her head in disapproval, finishing the rest of her juice. “ No you don’t. You’re making yourself suffer and I don’t like it.’’
‘‘ Yn.. did you make these cookies?’‘ A voice says behind you. Ryan’s eyes go wide and then looks at you signaling for you to not turn around. But you do it anyways.
Isabel. How dare she call you by a pet name? You don’t even know her like that and she’s doing this. Anger wants to get the best of you but you remain humble and calm.
‘‘ Yes. Is there a problem though? Are they not good?’‘ You say, putting on your best innocent act.
She smiles as she moves a piece of hair of her perfectly framed face, ‘’ No they are great! I was wondering if i can have the recipe.. for Jimin’s purpose of course.’’
You breathe through your nostrils with your eyes closed. She knows what she’s doing. She likes seeing you suffer huh? ‘’ You can follow any recipe online. I just add almond extract and substitute white sugar for brown.’’
Ryan shakes her head slightly while sticking her cup into the sink. ‘’ I’m going to be back I have to use the restroom.’’
Once she leaves Isabel’s smile drops.’’ Almond? Im- Im allergic!” She says, semi yelling at you. You’re shocked more or so at the sudden outburst that you can’t speak. You had zero knowledge of her being allergic, it’s an accident for sure.
“You did this on purpose!’’ She says, tears filling her eyes as she goes into a coughing fit.
Shit. You didn’t know if anyone was allergic to nuts here but you had put it in anyways because that was the secret ingredient
‘’ I- I didn’t know im sorry is there anything I can do?’’ You say, guilt taking over you while you rush to her side patting her back.
‘‘ Get off of me! You did this on purpose! You never liked me anyways. Jimin! Jimin!‘ She scream’s, coughing and wheezing making her face red.
Multiple footsteps rush into the kitchen. You don’t know what to do at this point so you just back away and let whoever take over. All the commotion going on and yelling is starting to give you a slight headache. All of the boys surround her, bombarding with questions and asking each other what to do.
‘‘ What’s all the yelling about? What happened! “ Jungkook exclaims rushing towards her hunched over body.
‘‘ What’s going on? “ That voice that haunts you everynight finally comes inside the kitchen. When he see’s Isabel he automatically rushes towards her side. It pains you to see him rush to another woman’s body. But that figure is no longer yours so he has every right to do that.
‘‘ She-She put almond in the cookies on purpose! She’s trying to–to-’‘ She manages to wheeze out before another coughing fit.
Jimin’s eyes meet yours full of rage but then taken over by concern. He knows your hurt. Still hurt from the past and from this very situation now. You don’t manage to keep eye contact, so the floor is your eyes’ bestfriend right now.
‘‘ Yn. is this true? Why would you do that?”  He says, eyes never leaving yours and voice soft.
You shake your head quickly, “ I didn’t know she was allergic. I always put almond extract an-’’
“ You knew better than to put any type or form of nut in a dish when bringing it to ones house. You never know if someone has an allergy to it.’‘ Jungkook scolds you, eyes furrowed in shame.
‘‘ Don’t blame her. She didn’t fucking know.” Ryan’s voice enters the room in madness. She comes to your side with her arms crossed. Your own personal savior. Without her, you’d still be feeling guilty and taking the blame.
‘‘ Besides, you knew better than to invite him if you knew he was going to bring the girl he cheated on her with.. right?’‘ She says, cocking her head to the side as her attitude takes over.
The room is silent again. Good girl Ryan.
Isabel lifts her head in disbelief along with Jimin. “ Listen that’s beside the point. Just don’t do it again.” Jimin says, focusing his attention back on Isabel. He reaches into her purse to grab her Epi-pen.
His scolding is enough to send your eyes into tears. You shouldn’t of agreed to come. This is a disaster. You take the tuba-wear of cookies from the counter on your way out of the kitchen and dispose of them. Your vision is blurry and you don’t know where your going but you just need some air. You make lefts and rights down long and short hallways till you reach a room that has a balcony.
You slip on who-ever’s house slippers and open the sliding door revealing the winter’s cold harsh air. You lean on the railing and close your eyes breathe in and out heavily.
Wiping the tears away, You open our eyes and look straight ahead. The whole city is lit up such a beautiful view for a sad moment. The sad moment is cut short by the sliding door opening and closing. You don’t bother to turn around it’s probably just Ryan checking on you again. When are people going to stop doing that?
“ Yn.”
Thats the last voice you wanted to hear.
‘‘ Are you happy? Happy for scolding me infront of everybody.”  You sniffle, wiping away your leaking nose.
You hear some rustling before something is placed on your shoulders. You look down at the material and shrug it off of you.
‘‘ Give it to your girlfriend.”
‘‘ I can’t let you be cold. Put it back on.’‘ He sighs, picking it back up and coming closer to you. You both stand side by side. Jimin puts his jacket around you once more and before you could re-do your action just before, he speaks.
‘‘ Shrug it off again and I’ll scold you. Do you understand?’‘ He says firmly.
You don’t bother to speak. Silence is golden.
‘‘ Listen.. i know you still aren’t over the fact that we are through but-”
‘‘ Shut up. I don’t want to hear it. Please go tend to your dying girlfriend.’‘ You say, sarcastically.
He huffs, “ She’s resting right now. She wouldn’t have to be if you wouldn’t of put-’’
You turn towards him slowly and meet his eyes daring for him to finish the rest of his sentence. ‘’ Don’t you fucking dare Park Jimin.’’
‘‘ Honorifics.’‘ He says, slightly looking down at you due to the height difference.
‘‘ You’re right Jimin-ssi.’‘
Jimin’s expression is taken a-back. You knew that one honorific word would hurt him.
‘‘ If we are done speaking I will take my leave now.” You say, eyes never leaving his as you take off his jacket and toss it to him, leaving him outside in the cold
This night was one of your worst mistakes. You thought you could handle it, but couldn’t. So maybe Ryan and Jungkook were right. Maybe you can’t handle it at all..

the living is wise
part one, part two, part three, part four, part five, part six, part seven, part eight, part nine , part ten, part eleven, part twelve, part thirteen, part fourteen , part fifteen, part sixteen, part seventeen
Living alone allots you certain privileges. Coming and going whenever you please, buying whatever food strikes your fancy at the moment. One of those privileges, you thought, was being able to sleep in on your one Saturday off in a month. The trilling of your cell phone tells you another story. You let it ring three times before you grip it tightly, squinting before bringing it up to your face. It’s Bruce. You let out a huff, but swipe to accept the call.
“You have about a minute to buzz us in before three highly trained professionals break into your apartment,” He tells you. You can imagine him on the sidewalk looking up at your apartment, calculating all of the ways he could get in without using your front door.
“Just three?” You yawn into the phone.
“Bruce Wayne would never be caught breaking into some shabby apartment building in the middle of Gotham. My kids on the other hand, I have no control over.”
You groan, but roll off of the bed and onto your feet. Bruce lets out a small laugh, and nods to Dick to open the door as he hears you shuffle around, then hit the buzzer next to your front door. “The elevator’s broken again, by the way. The super has been ‘trying’ to fix it for a week now.”
Tim lets out a moan of despair at seeing the out of order sign, but dutifully pivots to the stairs. Bruce hangs up with a smile, starting the trek up to your third floor apartment.
                                                        *
Your apartment looks unchanged from the many other times he’s been there, aside from the box in the corner filled with cartridge cases and DVDs. Your cats are nowhere to be seen, and there's an open cereal box on the kitchen counter.
"I thought you said you have been packing," Bruce says, pulling off his gloves as he walks around. His kids are doing the same, exploring every nook and cranny (that they hadn't already seen on a computer monitor).
"I have. You can see the box in the corner, can't you? That's all packed up, babe." Bruce narrows his eyes. He doesn't appreciate the sarcastic tone of that babe. You roll your eyes. "Alright, I wasn't expecting you guys to be here at the ass crack of dawn to help me move. I thought you'd be here at like, two o'clock or something. I was gonna get up and start frantically shoving shit into boxes at noon."
“The early bird catches the worm,” Dick chimes from the kitchen, already pulling your dinner plates from a cabinet. You scrunch your nose at him. The other two Wayne kids take that as an invitation to start going through things as well, opening drawers and taking things off of shelves. They find the boxes you bought in the closet and set to work packing.
“There are uh. Boxes in the closet for the figures you’ll come across. Please put them in the corresponding box. I’m gonna go to my room.” You go down the short hallway off of your kitchen and shut yourself in the room at the end of it. You kneel and look under your bed just to make sure, but sure enough, there are Tigger and Little Bit, huddled under your bed, eyes wide. “Yea, I know.”
You spend twenty minutes working up the energy to change into regular clothes, and by the time you’re pulling on some jeans, someone knocks. “Yea, you can have some of my snacks, but don’t touch the Cheez-Its, I’ve been saving those.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever had a Cheez-It,” Bruce speculates from the other side.
“Oh fuck,” You mutter. You open the door for him, letting him sit on your bed as you continue to get dressed. He looks at you appraisingly while your shirt is off, and you roll your eyes. “Your kids are right outside and I know for a fact these walls are thin. I’ve gotten noise complaints.”
Bruce just smiles knowingly, then wrinkles his nose as he watches you pick up the dirty clothes off of the floor and dump them into a large box, then do the same with the clean clothes hanging up in your closet. “Shouldn’t those be separated and folded?”
“Have you ever done your own laundry, rich boy? No? Trust me, in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter. I was just gonna wash ‘em when I got to your house anyway. Who cares about wrinkles?” Bruce opens his mouth to respond, but you’re faster. “Yea yea Alfred does, I know. I’ll deal with him later.”
Bruce says nothing, just watching you quickly, albeit messily, pack the rest of your closet. He gets up to help you pack up your various knickknacks around the room, but stops when he sees you hesitate. He can tell what you’re thinking already. “I do want you at the Manor. We’ve already cleared out space for all of your things, believe it or not. Don’t throw away who you are to fit into my life. Please.”
“I just feel so...juvenile, compared to you. You have great artworks and books signed by the authors and expensive vases just hanging around. I have anime figures that are depreciating in value by the day and this old Yu-Gi-Oh! comforter my mom wouldn’t throw away, and now I won’t throw away. It just seems so...out of place for me there. Your house has been featured in maybe a dozen magazines! My apartment has only been featured in my 2AM snapchats to my friends.” You wrap your hand around a small plushie, seemingly testing its weight in your palm. You’re mentally testing its weight in memories. Is it dear enough to you to go with you into this next phase of your life?
He comes up behind you and places a hand on your arm. “My house is a façade. It’s perfectly tailored and manicured to look the way it does, to keep up my billionaire persona. None of those paintings or books or antiques hold any value to me. Most of them were bought at charity auctions or brought into the house by Alfred. These,” He gestures to the things hanging up on your walls and sitting on your shelves, “things mean something to you. They hold special meaning, or memories for you. Your stuff makes you happy, and that’s all it needs to do. It’ll fit into my home just fine, because it’s your home too now. Feel free to fill it with as much stuff as possible. God knows it might actually need some redecorating anyway.”
You’re about to open your mouth to respond when you hear scuffling coming from outside your door. You set your plushie down with a slight downward quirk to your lips and turn towards the door. Dick bursts in just as you hear “Bruce!” and ‘Father!” come from the living room.
“Okay nothing is permanently broken, first of all, but do you think your landlord will still give you back your security deposit if the ceiling fan became a floor fan?”

(Hello! I've wanted to write an enemies to lovers style story for a while now so here you go! I really hope you enjoy it!)
He glanced down at his phone. It was 7 am which gave him about an hour before work. He flicked off the TV and went about trying to find some breakfast. The pantry didn't yield many results but he did manage to find two packets of apples and cinnamon oatmeal. Honestly he never bought breakfast stuff because he didn't usually get up in time to eat it. He hadn't been sleeping well lately. After heating that up along with a small cup of coffee he sat on his couch and took out his phone. "Let's see who's on the schedule for today. Ok me, Darrell, Michelle, and…. Lexi." He hated Lexi. They had gone to high school together and she was the single most annoying student in his entire graduating class. When she had first been hired on he'd asked Michelle to please try and not put them on shifts together. Michelle did try but sometimes it couldn't be helped. He finished his oatmeal and downed his coffee already in a bad mood. Twenty minutes later he was showered, dressed, and on the road. He technically could've walked to work, as it was only a couple blocks away, but today he decided to drive. He didn't want to chance Lexi asking to walk home with him. It seemed like she just couldn't take a hint. Always asking him questions and acting like they were such good friends in high school when that couldn't be further from the truth. He parked and walked over to the door. The lights were still off and the door was locked. He checked his phone again and realized he was still fifteen minutes early. He sighed and sat down on one of the benches outside. He wasn't two minutes into a youtube video when Lexi walked up. "Great" he thought "she can't even wait till we're on the clock." He braced for impact, expecting her to sit next to him and make small talk in her annoyingly high pitched voice but she didn't. She just gave him a small wave and sat down on the bench across from him. She was wearing a sweater and leggings instead of her usual tank top and overalls combo. She had her hair in a messy bun and her face was pale. She untied a hoodie from around her waist and used it as a pillow against the wall. He stared at her bewildered for a second, but he wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth. He pressed play on his video and continued watching it until Michelle unlocked the front doors. "Hey guys! Thanks for getting here so early! Darrell had to take his mom to a doctor's appointment so it'll just be the three of us for an hour or two. Lexi I want you on the register and Tyler I want you to reshelve all of the stuff from yesterday." Lexi shook her head " Actually would you mind if I reshelved today?" They both looked at her surprised. Lexi always asked to be on the register. "Uh yeah I guess as long as that's ok with you Tyler." He shrugged "Whatever, I don't care either way." Michelle nodded "Then I'm going to open the register." He made a mental note to keep an eye on Lexi. Something was up with her and he was going to figure out what. He put his lunch in the store room fridge and grabbed his vest from the rack. It'd been a long time since he'd worked the register but he'd manage. The first hour was rather uneventful. He'd cleaned the front counter, swept, and made sure the displays were all in order and now he was...bored. Only a handful of customers would come in before school let out and until then all he could do was stand there. He was trying to balance three books on his head when Darrell walked in. "Hey! What's going on?"
"Not much. What's going on with you circus boy?"
"Oh you know acrobatics, juggling, the whole nine yards." Darrell smiled
"Hey what are you doing up here anyway?"
"Lexi asked to do the reshelving today so I got stuck up here."
"Wait, she asked to do the reshelving? You usually can't force her to do it let alone have her volunteer."
"I know but that's what happened."
"Weird? Anyway, do you know where Michelle is? I need to figure out what I'm doing today."
"She's in the office."
With that Darrell walked away and Tyler went back to his balancing act. Not five minutes later Darrell was back.
"Hey Michelle needs you to help Lexi reshelve that stuff. She wants me to take over up here."
"Aw come on man can't you do it?"
" Well I could but Michelle said you and well...I don't wanna."
He sighed "Fine whatever but I'm putting my headphones in. I can't listen to her voice all day."
"Whatever boats your float pal. I'll be up here." Darrell put his feet up on the desk as Tyler stomped back to the store room. Why would Michelle ask HIM to come back here? She knows how he feels about Lexi. He threw open the door and was surprised to see Lexi blowing her nose into a well used tissue. Her pale face now had a bright red nose in the middle of it. She was sitting on the floor, books and tissues scattered around her, using her hoodie as a makeshift blanket. She looked up at him like she was about to say something but started coughing instead. It sounded wet and harsh. Well at least now he knew why she was acting so weird this morning. He knelt down beside her and before he could stop himself he had his hand on her forehead. She nuzzled her head into his cold hand and smiled. She had a fever, and a pretty high one at that.
"How long have you been like this?"
"It started yesterday. I didn't start really feeling bad until I was already here and by then it was too late to call in." Her voice sounded like it could go any minute and she was shivering. He took off his jacket and put it over her legs. She smiled and nodded in appreciation, just before her head jerked forward  "hhehITSHichu hhehITSHICHU" She sniffled and Tyler handed her a roll of paper towels from the cleaning supply cart. She blew her nose again for what felt like a full minute to Tyler and even then it didn't seem to help her much. He was now facing an internal dilemma. Even though he despised Lexi he didn't think he could leave her like this. No one deserved to suffer this much, not even her.
"Look if you want I'll reshelve the stuff for today and you can go home." She looked at him curiously "You would do that for me? I thought you didn't like me?"
"I'd do that for anybody. Besides fat lotta help you'd be. I doubt you can even stand up by yourself let alone help with all this. Now go tell Michelle you're leaving before I change my mind."
She smiled at him "Thank you Tyler I really...hhehitshichu *snf* appreciate it."
"Don't mention it...really don't and bless you by the way." She tried to push herself up and ended up falling forward holding her head. The pressure in her sinuses was crushing. Tyler sighed "I guess you'll need a ride huh?" She nodded and started coughing again. Tyler rubbed her back as she slowly started to breathe normally.
"Stay right here. I'll ask Michelle if I can drive you home real quick and come back okay?"
"Okay."
With that he walked over to Michelle's office and knocked on the door.
"Yes, come in. What can I do for you?"
"Well I was wondering if you and Darrell could handle things on your own for a minute. Lexi's really sick and I was gonna drive her home."
"Really sick? Poor thing, what's wrong?"
"Coughing, sneezing, fever, I found her on the floor of the store room shivering. I don't think she can stand up for too long." Michelle frowned "That sounds pretty bad. Tell you what things looks like things will be pretty slow here for the day. Why don't you take the rest of the day off and stay with her just to make sure she's alright?" Tyler's eyes widened. He didn't want to drive her home in the first place and stay with her?! Out of the question. But then again it'd been a long time since he'd gotten off early. Between work and school he could use a little time to himself. He could drive her there, drop her off, leave, and they would be none the wiser. He smiled to himself "Yeah boss I can do that." Michelle nodded in approval "Good now here's twenty dollars. Go to Walgreens on the way home and get that girl some medicine. Maybe some soup and tissues too." He took the money and sighed. Michelle was too sweet for her own good. Oh well an extra stop wouldn't take too long. "I can do that. I'll make sure she knows it's from you." He started to walk out "Oh and Tyler? You're a good man for doing this." He shook his head "Anybody would do this. It just happened to be me this time." With that he walked out and made his way back to the store room. He found Lexi asleep on the floor, a paper towel still held up to her nose. He hung up his vest, grabbed his car keys and her purse, and picked her up bridal style. She weighed almost nothing and he figured she'd be easier to manage if she stayed asleep. He walked out to his car. Unbeknownst to Tyler his coworkers were watching from behind the shelves. "Looks like I'll be getting my ten bucks soon." Michelle said smugly. Darrell rolled his eyes "Really? And what makes you think this is what gets them together?" Michelle's eyes twinkled as she watched Tyler gently set Lexi in the back seat of his car "I just have a feeling."

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Can you share your most memorable holidays with Kylo, Charlie and Sackler? Thank you
How would Kylo or Charlie handle Christmas in isolation with just you. - Anon
Merry Christmas!  I hope you’re having as lovely a day as is possible in the current circumstances!
Thank you for this Ask.  After some thought, I combined it with another, which I hope is okay for the both of you.
This features HC’s of a socially distanced Christmas with Kylo, some sweet Charlie and Henry, and ... the “Touch” series holiday special.
TW: The second story has a reference to an age gap, and the third contains some smut (because Sackler).
Kylo - A very social(ly distanced) Christmas
This is your third Christmas with Kylo.
Your first was spent with your family.  It had still been early days in your relationship, but in spite of some worries, they had easily welcomed him into the fold.  (Your parents were probably just glad you were finally dating someone.)
Your second was spent with his family, after many months spent encouraging him to reach out and reconcile with them like you knew he wanted to, but would never admit.  You had begged, bargained and blackmailed your boss for the time off over the holidays, and travelled all the way to the States with him to witness a family reunion that was twenty years in the making.  It was worth it.
Your third Christmas is different.  Thanks to the pandemic, travel to the States is out of the question.  Even driving a couple of hours up the road to see your parents is forbidden, thanks to the government’s last-minute decision the weekend before Christmas.  So the two of you are spending Christmas alone together.
But between phone calls and Zoom calls with family and friends, you don’t actually manage to have a minute to yourselves until the evening, once “dinner with the family” (a very strange setup using both of your laptops) is done, and the pans and dishes have been washed or abandoned in the sink to soak until either of you can be bothered to deal with them.
Even though it’s just been the two of you in the apartment all day, the space has been filled with voices and laughter of friends and loved ones almost the entire time.  Only now that the calls are done do you actually have space to appreciate the silence that falls between you as you flop down on the couch next to him, and he throws his arm around your shoulder, pulling you close.
“Thank fuck that’s over,” he grumbles eventually, his deep voice breaking the stillness of the room.  “And to think you were worried today was going to be too quiet.  Jesus, I’m exhausted.”
He enjoyed it, really.  You know this.  He knows you know this.  But he’ll never admit it.  And that’s okay.  You love your grumpy man just as he is.
“Poor baby,” you murmur, causing him to glare at you.  “You’re probably much too tired for one more present.”
"What present?” he asks, in a would-be casual voice.  Trying to sound as disinterested as possible.
Smiling, you toy with the top button on your blouse.  That gets his attention.  “You’ll have to unwrap it to find out,” you say.  “But that’s probably too much for you seeing as you’ve had such a hard day.”
But it turns out he isn’t at all as exhausted as he’d claimed.
And he loves his final present.
Charlie - A family Christmas
Charlie was upfront about it right from the start.  He and Henry were a package deal.  Love me, love my son.
That’s why it took so long for things to really get going between the two of you.  He didn’t want to introduce you to Henry, only to have you fade out of his life a few months later when you inevitably got fed up of the tedious responsibility of, effectively, parenting another woman’s kid.
The age gap didn’t help, either.  You were at a stage in your life where you should be figuring out what you want to do with your life, partying with friends, without a care in the world.  Not settling down with someone who has already quite thoroughly fucked his life up, and has the baggage to prove it.
It took you a good six months to convince him that you understood all his worries and concerns, and you simply didn’t care.  There were heated discussions, tears from both of you, and a breakup that lasted all of a week ... until Charlie finally came to his senses and realized that he could trust you.
So it means a lot that you’re finally here.  Your first Christmas together with Charlie and Henry.
You and Charlie are exhausted.  Henry woke you up at the ungodly hour of half past four to open his presents, and is showing no sign of flagging.  Meanwhile, the two of you are on your third cup of coffee each, and it isn’t even time to have lunch yet.  But Henry is having a great time with his new toys, and Charlie’s arm is warm and reassuring around you as you both stand in the doorway to the living room, looking at the mess of wrapping paper with a mixture of despair and amusement.
Charlie leans in, nuzzles his nose against the side of your face, before kissing your cheek.  “You still sure about this?” he asks, gesturing at the chaos before you both.  “This is what it’s like.”
“I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life,” you tell him.  There’s more you want to say, but at that moment Henry calls for both of you, demanding you come and help him begin assembling one of his new Lego sets.
You’ll tell Charlie later, you decide, as you settle down on the floor and pull the instructions out of the box.  You’ll tell him how happy you are.  How lucky you feel to have been invited into their lives.
He and Henry are a package deal, and you love them both.
Sackler - July in Christmas
“Why the fuck is the apartment so warm?” you demand, when you arrive home after your shift on Christmas Eve.  Some jackass in a ten grand coat told you that you ruined Christmas for his entire family because the product his wife wanted was out of stock, so you might be feeling a little bit Grinchy this evening.
Adam doesn’t have a straight answer for you.  He also insists that you stay out of the living room, so after your shower he makes you eat dinner in the bedroom.  It’s all very suspicious.
“I feel like I’m a prisoner,” you comment, after he accompanies you to the bathroom in case you look in the living room.  “I didn’t do it, officer, I swear!” you call through the door, while you pee.  Then you brush your teeth, remove your contacts, and run through your skincare routine.  If you take much longer than usual, it’s just because you’re being thorough.  Not because you’re trying to annoy him.
You emerge from the bathroom a good fifteen minutes later, to find him still standing there, looking pissed off.  You give him a shit-eating grin.  He grabs you, turns you around, and pushes you against the wall.  “You’re under arrest for taking too long in the bathroom,” he says, his breath hot in your ear as he grinds against you.  “Spread ‘em.”
You sleep very well that night.
Christmas morning dawns.  Outside it’s snowing, but inside your apartment it feels hotter than the summer your family went to Vegas.  You wake up from a very pleasant dream to find that it was not, in fact, a dream.  Adam’s face is buried between your legs, his nose nudging at your clit as his tongue works its way inside you.  You curl your fingers in his hair, and he hums in response, sending a pleasant shockwave of shivers through you, but he only looks up once you’ve cum for the third time.  “I need you to stay in here for, like, one more hour,” he says, by way of a greeting.
“Is that why you woke me up like this?” you ask, covering your face with your hands.  “To ensure my compliance?”
“It’ll be worth it, I promise,” he says, rolling off the bed, and stretching.  “You’re going to love it.”
“Ugh,” you say.  And then you roll over, and go back to sleep.
When you wake up again, it’s because Adam is basically sitting on top of you.  “It’s ready,” he says.  “You just need to put this on first.”  And he hands you -
“A bikini?” you say, bewildered, when you unroll the bundle he handed you.  “What the - why?”  Then, you notice that he’s wearing what are possibly the ugliest pair of floral swimming shorts you’ve ever seen in your life.  “Seriously Adam, what the fuck is going on?  It’s Christmas Day, it’s blizzarding outside, and you’re handing me swimwear?”
“Yeah,” he says, like it’s a no-brainer.  “Put it on.”
Grumbling, you crawl out of bed, and get dressed as requested.  It fits, but coverage is minimal, and you guess that’ s probably the point.  He stares at you with a huge grin on his face the entire time, like the massive perv he is.  And as soon as you’re ready, he drags you out of the bedroom and down the hallway.
Outside of the living room, he pauses and turns to you.  “I know we’re not doing gifts this year because we’re trying to save money,” he says.  Which is true.  This apartment is too small for the two of you.  You’ve both mentioned that it would be nice to move somewhere with a second bedroom, although neither of you have yet mentioned why you feel that way.  “And I know we’re both kind of like fuck Christmas.  But you’ve been working so hard these past few months.  And I thought ... you deserve a holiday.  So, I did a thing.”
Without further ado, he opens the door into your living room, and pushes you inside.
Your mouth falls open.  The room has been transformed.  The sofa has been pushed back against the wall and the armchairs and coffee table have completely disappeared.  In their place are a couple of sunloungers with beach towels on them, a little table between them covered in your favourite drinks and snacks, and even a couple of mini palm trees in pots.
But most incredible of all ... there’s a freaking paddling pool, which looks big enough for the both of you to fit in it.
You know he’s looking at you, waiting for your reaction.  But you don’t know what to think, or do, or say.  So you just stand there like a moron, staring at the scene, and opening and closing your mouth like a fish.
“Is it ok?” he asks, eventually.  “You aren’t mad that I fucked up our living room, are you?”
All you can do is shake your head.
“Do you like it?”
You nod.  And because you can’t say anything, you throw your arms around his middle.  Hopefully that’s enough of an answer, because it’s all you can manage right now.
How the fuck did you manage to get so lucky?  Adam gets it.  He just gets you.  He’s the first person who’s ever bothered to take the time to try to figure you out, so he’s the first person you’ve ever begun to open up to.  And this right here?  Is the most thoughtful, ridiculous, best gift you’ve ever been given.
Adam wraps his arms around you too, and squeezes you so tightly you can feel your ribs creaking.  “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he says, and he begins to rock you gently as you start to cry big, fat, happy tears.  “You’re perfect, you know that?  And I really fucking love you.”
You’re not perfect.  Just like he’s not perfect, and this setup isn’t perfect.  (How the hell are you going to get all that water out of the pool when you’re done?)
But this moment is perfect.
And god.  God.  You really fucking love him, too.

Crossed Wires
Thank you @pridelumos for trusting me enough to write this request!
This is the first one I’ve ever done so I hope you all enjoy it!
Word Count- roughly 2,200.
Warnings- mentions of murder, guns, sex, drugs. My terrible writing.
Tumblr media
The ticking of the office clock was the only thing breaking the tense silence. Yet another day had passed and not a single tip, clue or evidence was sent in. You sighed loudly and got up from your desk. The evening sun still flooding the room in a warm glow.
‘Someone’s in a good mood,’ Agent Roger Knapp commented on your louder than normal exhale.
You shot him a look as you poured yet another cup of coffee, The third of the day. ‘It’s been weeks Roger, weeks. We still know shit.’ You’re fresh, not three years out of the academy, still  chomping at the bit to make a difference; after all you’ve heard about the emerging ‘drug war’ in Mexico.  The more….seasoned agents have gotten cynical over the years. Unless it falls into their lap they don’t bother to investigate.
You dropped into your comfortable office chair and slumped over the desk. Letting out a frustrated groan. Honestly? If you knew the adventure that was about to ensure you’d  wish for a few more of the lazy office days.
----------
Miguel Ángel Felix Gallardo, arguably the most wanted man in Mexico, leaned back in his office chair. Specially designed with French leather. Not for the faint of heart. He too let out a frustrated sigh.  The Gulf was weeks away from overtaking most of the land border into the United States. All he’d been able to do was sit back and watch it happen.
He sighed again and stood up to look out the window. The fading rays of sunlight doing nothing to ease his apprehension. The Gulf was mere weeks away from securing the majority of the land border between Mexico and the United States. It would lead to a drop in profits; and an increase in problems. As if he hadn't had enough, Tijuana and Sinaloa were in a war, Pacho had him in a vice grip and Maria was gone. Fled. Kids and all.
Miguel lit a cigarette, as he watched the ash tip onto the stone balcony he realised there was no point in wallowing. This wasn't going to sort itself. At least this may be something he could fix. Miguel caught his jacket from the coat rack and slammed the door behind him.
If he had known the events of the next few days maybe he would have gently closed the door instead.
----------------
You stood at the side entrance of the offices, leaning against the door frame and watching the Guadalajara streets begin to light up with nightlife and music. You glanced back at the building you called a workplace for a moment. Your eyes scanning the stonework. When you laid eyes on him, however.  your jaw dropped to the floor.
Strutting up the steps to the main entrance. To the United States DEA base in Guadalajara Mexico was none other than the man that had saved your life almost two years ago.
Miguel Ángel Felix Gallardo.
*Sinaloa two years prior*
As the first female in the DEA you felt as if you had a point to prove. This was your shot to do it. The biggest night time raid the DEA was about to undertake in the city of Sinaloa. Three houses, two down, now it was your turn to show off all you had learnt. It's not an Old Boys Club anymore.
In the end it had all happened so fast. First you lead the team tactically into the premises, cleared the perimeter. You did everything by the book. After that night you learnt that rules become blurred south of the border quite often.
There was a sudden whirr of bullets, frenzied screaming.... an odd smell of smoke. Fear overtook you when you heard the order coming from your Walkie Talkie. Two words registered. 'Ambush... scatter.'
You gripped your gun so tight it was a miracle it didn't snap in two. Barely taking in your surroundings you ran. Hastily. The streets passed in a blur. Your lungs felt on fire as you slowed your steps. Slowing to a stop, leaning against a building. The panting made the footsteps approaching behind you inaudible, it was far too late by the time you noticed.
The sickening click of a gun being drawn from its holster behind you caused your face to drain of blood. Trembling you slowly turned. You were staring down the barrel of a gun.
Seconds ticked by. The masked gunman's hand trembled. In that split second a gunshot rang out.. as you were thrown to the ground. You kept your eyes squeezed tightly. A warm hand ran down your arm. Daring to open one eye was the best and worst thing you ever did. You opened both. A pair of deep brown eyes stared back. Entranced. He helped you up, how kind of him.
Once steady on your feet you got a good look at the man. Time for round two of heart attacks of the day. One of the most wanted men in Mexico had his hand in yours, his other holding your elbow to keep you steady. He looked, well, he looked concerned.
'Estas bien mija?'
Your mouth opened and closed.
He chuckled. 'We,' he gestured to the giant of a bodyguard standing over your would be killer's corpse. 'saw what happened. He was on our hit list anyway.'
You felt your cheeks heat up. His voice was like melted butter. He squeezed your hand. 'I hope I'll see you again... agente.'
 ------------------------------
A bunch of roses with no name attached appeared at the office two weeks later. After getting a LOT of shit from the other agents you figured it could only be Miguel who had sent them. Two days later a necklace arrived. Your internal monologue went a little like ‘Oh no Oh no Oh no no no no no no’, especially when you realised the butterflies before evening opening the little box tied with a red ribbon.  He’s a goddamn Narco. You’re meant to be putting him in a prison to rot.
You threw the flowers out and hid the necklace in your wardrobe. Get rid of all keepsakes and therefore all memories. He’s not for you. It’s not right. It’s damn illegal.
Now here he was walking as calm as could be into the lion’s den. You stayed watching his cool demeanour. His cockiness. That blue suit, that jet black ha-no stop. You didn’t even notice the small smile appearing on your face as he disappeared indoors.
Realising the worst thing you could possibly do was follow him. So you waited. Hiding behind a tree. Smooth. Real smooth. He emerged from the building about twenty minutes later. You almost deflated in relief as the car turned the corner and sped off down the next street.
Naively thinking it was safe you returned to your desk. Only to have Roger and Chief Jamie Kuykendall waiting with eyebrows raised and an unreadable look on their faces. Jamie was the first to speak. ‘We-um- we had a visitor.’
You acted confused. They fell for it. ‘I- we- Felix Gallardo was here. Looking to give us information,’ he finished.
‘Wha- what?  How? Why?’ you babbled.
‘We don’t know the specifics. That’s the problem, we haven’t the faintest idea why he wants to give it to us. All we know is. He’ll only give it to you.’ Roger intervened.
Your jaw hit the floor. ‘Me?’
‘No, he came all the way in here to ask for the Pope. Yes you,’ Roger snapped.
Jamie handed you a scrap piece of paper. ‘He asked to meet you for dinner. He’ll give you the information then.’
Your brow furrowed. The moral compass going into overdrive. He’s a narco. He saved your life. You’re just getting information. Pushing all the thoughts aside you nodded slowly. ‘I’ll do it. It’ll be okay.’  Whether you were convincing them or yourself is still up for debate.
You didn’t sleep at all that night. The bed was uncomfortable, the night was too humid, the pillows were uneven. All excuses you convinced yourself were the issue. Sitting straight up at dawn you stared at the wardrobe. The necklace. Sneaking up on the shelf you caught the box and pulled it down. Inside lay the most beautiful silver and diamond collar.
Slipping it on felt right, It fit like a glove. The dress you chose was a bit risqué to say the least. But you know, we have to give him something to look at. Grabbing your purse before leaving you noticed a driver and his car outside.
‘Para ti Senorita,’ He opened the door. Champagne and truffles awaited. The smell of the new leather filled you with apprehension as the streets rolled by, before long you were in an unfamiliar part of town. The filthy rich side. The driver pulled up to a villa straight out of a Hollywood movie. The old fashioned villa, complete with a football field sized yard  and outdoor pool was a stark contrast to the cramped apartment you called home.
Feeling slightly out of place you followed the driver to the entrance. He pushed open the door to a beautifully ornate interior. A butler handed you a glass of champagne and led you to the outdoor terrace. A table for two was set, with a view overlooking the city. It was almost too much. Almost. You took a seat at the table. Admiring the white table cloth and, of course, the vase full of roses as a centre piece. You nervously tugged at the necklace, anxious for Miguel to arrive. Still mixed feelings on the whole deal.
‘Hola Senorita,’ that voice, It stirred something in the pit of your stomach.
‘Hola.’ There was a slight bit of tension in the air as he sat across from  you. The look in his eye was mischievous, bordering cocky.
‘Antes de cenar agente. Tengo un regalo para ti.’ He pushed a brown envelope across the table. You let your fingertips touch it before he lets it go. You take another glance back at him. The cockiness is gone. This is the envelope with everything in it. Names, addresses, routes. You tapped your fingers on it for a second. Contemplating. Eventually deciding against better judgement you slipped the invaluable information into your purse. A look of relief washed over Miguel’s face.
It honestly took you by surprise how funny he could be. You felt a six pack coming on before dinner was even served. The tension disappeared. As the wine flowed you felt more at ease with your supposed arch nemesis. His shoulders slowly dropped throughout the meal. Simply enjoying the company. The butler cleared the dinner dishes away. As he did so the sound of slow classical music filled the night air. Bringing with it Miguel’s invitation for a dance. Slightly embarrassed at the prospect he put you at ease by assuring you he didn’t know the steps.
He held your hand in his. His grip around your waist was both comforting and reassuring. You simply melted into the embrace. Resting your head on his chest. The sound of his heartbeat was music to your ears. That moment, nothing could ruin that picturesque moment.  The smell of his expensive cologne, the feeling of his cool shirt against your skin.
You gazed up at him, his beard tickling your upper lip. You felt a smirk, his hand around your waist tightening. Oh dear, no. You place your hands on his chest where your head once lay. He looks at you, concern filling his eyes. ‘Que pasa mija hm.’
‘I-I.’ you fumble. ‘This,we,’
He stopped dead in his tracks. Moving his hands to hold your shoulders gently but firmly. ‘What are you worried about?’
You stared down at the floor. ‘I can’t be a notch on your belt Miguel. That’s not what this is, I'm a DEA agent. Of course I’ll be forever grateful for saving my life but…. But I just-’
His grip became slightly firmer. Barely noticeable but yet, you felt it. ‘I’m not going to bring you to my room mija. If you do decide to, it'll be because you want to. Not to, what, thank me for the information? That’s not what this is.’ His tone was reaffirming. Yet Calming. His juxtapositions were almost overpowering. How could one man be so much Ying and yet, so much Yang?
You held his hand. Entwining your fingers with his. ‘This is the way it has to stay Miguel,’ your voice cracking slightly. This is the way it has to stay.
You quickly wiped a tear from your cheek. With mascara threatening to run you turned to leave. Picking up your purse you took the first steps. Before bidding adieu to the glorious villa you  glanced back at the Narco standing in front of you. ‘If you have any more information you know where I am.’
With that, you bid the man that firmly held your heart farewell.

The Possibility Of You And Me 🎄 Chp. 1
Fic Summary: Arya is in her mid-twenties and is in a place where she never thought she would be. With friendship and courage she's ready to start a new chapter, back to her love of acting--Meeting new people,,,But she never expected to see the one person she thought she would never see again... ;)
Chapter 1 AO3 Link
Side Note: Okay, so this is a different story that I wanted to write. Be prepared, Gendry and even Arya might sound OC during a few flashback scenes, maybe not actually-- BUT this is HEA, so remember that :) This first chapter, I hope, will get you interested to read more so here you go :)
Chapter 1
It was Christmas morning, and all Arya Stark could do was groan. She rubbed her sleepy eyes before she briefly looked at her window, watching the snowfall endlessly. She sighed, turning on her side and closed her eyes, wanting sleep to take her again and back to that dream—
Just then, her bedroom door opened, and two young voices screamed, "Aunt Arya! Aunty Arryya!"
Arya opened her eyes again, rolled them playfully, and scoffed, getting up before her three-year-old niece, Jaena, and five-year-old nephew, Ned, jumped on her bed. "Happy Christmas, you little elves," she said, watching her niece and nephew continue to jump on her bed.
Jaena giggled. "I'm not a elv—I'm a woof!"
Arya nodded, knowing what she meant to say. "Yes, you are a red wolf," she said, finally getting up from bed and stretching her arms and legs. She then walked toward her bathroom to brush her teeth. She looked at herself in the mirror while brushing her teeth. After, she quickly brushed her hair. After putting her brushes away, she looked at herself in her long-sleeved gray knit blouse and matching pajama bottoms. She shrugged and thought she looked presentable enough.
"Grannyy told us to get you!" Ned yelled as he finally sat down on the bed.
"We can't open the prezz-ents until ev'ry one is downsairs, Aunty Arryya," Jaena yelled as she continued to jump.
"Mmm...I figured," Arya murmured as she opened her closet and wrapped a warm purple scarf around her neck. She slipped on her Ugg slippers. "Okay, you two, let's go open presents." She grinned at them.
"I wanna jump," Jaena said. Ned jumped to the ground and started running toward the hallway, raising his hands and screaming, "Happy Christmas! Happy Christmas!"
Arya chuckled. She looked at her jumpy niece and smiled. "Okay, you wolf, it's time to go." She quickly grabbed Jaena mid-jump and carried her tiny body as she started to walk out of her bedroom. She looked at her niece's red hair and playfully messed it up, making the girl giggle. Arya smiled and then said, "Let's first get some cookies."
"Yay!" Jaena screamed as she held on to her Aunty.
As classical holiday music played in the background, friends and family of the Stark's were around the heavily decorated Christmas tree. The tree had grey, blue, and purple colored ornaments and colorful lights not just wrapped around the tall tree but all around the family room and the house.
Arya drank some coffee before placing the mug on the end table beside her. She sat in an oversized armchair, farthest away from the Christmas tree and everyone. She snuggled with her new knitted blanket that Sansa made for her.
Minutes later, Arya looked up from her phone and saw Robb and Talisa sitting on the floor, closest to the tree. Their kids wrapped tinsel around them. Young Ned went to sit on his mother's lap while Jaena placed a sticky bow on Robb's head.
Arya chuckled as she saw her parents sitting next to each other on the couch, holding hands, and whispering to each other. Sansa and her boyfriend of many years, Arya lost count, Theon Greyjoy, sat on the other side of the tree. With Sansa's help, he was trying on the turtleneck sweater made by her.
Arya sighed, taking another sip of coffee, observing her cousin, Jon, making sure his pregnant wife for the fourth time was all right laying on the chaise lounge, and hearing Ygritte saying for the fifth time, "I'm fine! Argh!" Arya was distracted that she didn't listen to her best friend, Daenerys Targaryen, sit beside her.
"Oh, wow! Did Sansa make this? It looks beautiful and feels so warm," she said, taking some of the blanket from Arya's lap.
Arya half-smiled with her brow raised. "Mmm... Sure, you can take some of it."
Daenerys smiled, placing the blanket over her lap. "Even though the heater is on, I forget how cold it can still be up here!"
Arya leaned into her friend, "I missed you."
Daenerys leaned into her in a half hug before releasing her. "Same here," she smiled before looking at everyone in front of them. "I was wondering why you were way over here and not with everybody else."
"Just a habit, I guess." Arya shrugged her shoulders.
Daenerys shivered in her silk pajamas before raising the blanket to her waist. She then put her hair behind her ears and said, "Thank you for these earrings; they are my favorite present so far."
Arya nodded. She saw the silver dragon earrings shimmer beautifully with her fair hair. She reached over to the end table and grabbed a slim box, opening and revealing theater tickets. "I can't believe you were able to get these tickets."
"I know you're a fan of the director, so voila!" She grinned, hoping to see more response from Arya. She then gave her a sympathetic look. "I'm worried about you, Arya."
Arya looked startled as she said, "What—Why?"
"Since you came back to Winterfell four years ago, all you do is work, come here, eat then sleep, then start again. When was your last audition?"
Arya sighed, not wanting to talk about this. "You perfectly well know, Dany. Four years ago." She leaned back into the chair. "I gave up acting long ago."
"You should have never listened to that jerk from Essos. After that, you lost a part of yourself. I want to help you get back to what I know you love."
"That part of my life is over," Arya said solemnly, then shrugged, looking ahead.
"You're just going to do an endless stream of jobs, including giving lessons on how to ride a horse for the rest of your life?"
Arya crossed her arms. "Maybe...Look, can we drop this, please?!"
Daenerys sighed, then shook her head. "Fine." She loved Arya like the sister she never had and remembered what it was like to see her on stage and dazzle in front of everyone. "Arya?"
"Yeah?" She said, staring ahead.
"I'm moving back to Westeros."
Arya turned her head quickly to look at Dany. "Really?" Skype, text messages, and e-mails were not enough forms of communication to talk with her best friend. She barely saw her in person in the last four years.
Daenerys nodded with a smile. "I applied for a few positions at magazines and publishers over here and got hired in King's Landing."
"Congratulations. You're a great writer-- I'm so happy for you." Arya squeezed Daenerys' hand.
Daenerys squeezed back and said, "I've found a condo and plan to move in after the New Year, and I need a roommate."
"Okay..."
"Will you be my roommate?" Daenerys asked with a hopeful expression.
"What?!" Arya's eyes enlarged.
Daenerys nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! It'll be great, and you can find a job in the world you love!"
"Wait—I...Oh Gods," Arya muttered. She felt all of a sudden everything was happening so fast. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath then let it out. She did this a couple of times before opening her eyes. "I don't know..." she said with honesty.
"Look, Arya—I'm sorry that I just sprung this on you, but I think it's a great opportunity for you."
"What if I don't find a job in the industry?"
Daenerys scoffed and said, "Always thinking negatively."
Arya raised her hands in surrender. "I'm thinking realistically."
"There are so many opportunities in King's Landing. I know you'll find something." She assured Arya, bumping her shoulder gently with hers.
Arya nodded. "I'll think about it. That's the best I can do right now."
Daenerys smiled. "Okay."
Arya wanting to change the subject quickly, said, "Hey, do you want to see a video I took last night of young Ned and Jaena sneaking up on Jon in the kitchen, and he screamed like—" She showed Dany her phone when suddenly Jon's very high pitched scream was heard, making both laugh out loud.
"What are you two laughing at?" Sansa asked, putting on a kid's version of reindeer antlers on Jaena.
Arya raised her brow. "Oh, you want to know?" She pressed buttons on her cell, and a second later, various chimes were heard around the room.
"That's me!" Young Ned said, still sitting in his mother's lap as Talisa and he looked at her cell phone.
Robb laughed and said, "Oh, this is wonderful."
Ygritte laughed, looking at her phone, "This is going to be my ringtone."
"Arya!" Jon screamed from across the room.
Arya chuckled and looked innocently across the room at Jon. "What?" she asked.
"You sent it to everyone!" Jon yelled, shaking his head. The video was being played over again, even making Arya's parents laugh.
"Oops," Arya said with a shrug.
Days later, before the sunset, Arya rode her favorite horse, Nymeria, toward the edge of the woods. She stopped and looked out at the town of Winterfell below. It looked like a lively town with snow and lights clustered all over.
"There you are," her father, Ned Stark, said as he approached with his horse.
Arya turned around and saw her father dressed in one of his bulky coats. She smiled.
"Have you made your decision?" Ned asked. He got off his horse, and Arya followed suit.
She walked around her horse to stand next to her father, looking over the town. She felt her eyes were getting glassy. It was a mixed emotion of missing her family but strangely excited to find what comes next. She looked up at her father's face, and in a shaky voice, she said, "Yes." She made the decision days ago.
Ned nodded and formed a small smile. "Good." He wrapped his arm around his daughter. "We're going to miss you," he added. She wrapped her arm around him and leaned into him, knowing she would miss her father the most.
A week later, Arya found herself in front of a modern designed condominium building.
"It's so big." Arya looked up. "Which level are we on, again?"
"We're on the eighth floor," Daenerys said as she grabbed a box from Arya's hybrid vehicle then closed the door with her hip.
On the other side, Arya grabbed her luggage or instead just her bag, realizing all her clothes were scattered on the ground in the back seat. She sighed, realizing her niece and nephew probably did this; This made her chuckle.
Daenerys smiled. "What's so funny?"
"I think in retaliation to moving away, Ned and Jaena took all my clothes from my luggage and scattered them on the ground."
Daenerys laughed. "Lovely—Do you want me to help?"
Arya shook her head. "I got it. I'll see you up in our condo."
She nodded and said, "Okay—I'll order take out."
"Yes! I'm starving." Arya smiled before looking at the mess of clothes in front of her. "Those little—" She laughed again before she started to fling her clothes in the luggage piece.
Holding luggage pieces in each hand, Arya walked inside the lobby. With her left knuckle, she pressed the button for the elevator. A minute later, the door opened, revealing someone she had not seen in years except in her dreams.
She spoke without thinking. "Gendry?"
He first looked at her in confusion before recognition set in a second later. He gave her a half-smile. His eyes met hers with gentleness. "Arya," he said calmly.
She didn't expect the way he said her name to take her breath away. She gulped, unable to speak. She stepped into the elevator with her luggage.
They were less than a meter away from each other as they continued to stare at each other. Arya didn't see Gendry move away. He continued to stand where he was. Her eyes didn't leave his, even as the elevator doors closed behind them.
End Note: I know, there was just a little Gendry at the end, but of course MORE is to come!! <3

I’ll Be Seeing You
Tumblr media
Written for: @star-spangled-bingo 2021!  (& All Caps Flash Bingo!)       Words: 1526  All Caps Flash Square Filled: Learning Together Pairing: Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes (Stucky) Warnings: none, all content SFW.  Summary: Bucky and Steve go on their first camping trip together in ninety years. When Steve forgets to pack his own tent, the cool night air turns steamy...
Tumblr media
“You two all ready for your big camping trip?” Sam asked Bucky and Steve as they loaded up the latter’s SUV.
“Sure, you don’t want to come with us?” Steve offered again as he stuffed two extra-large sleeping bags into his trunk.
“Am I sure I don’t want to be out in the hot sun for three days with nothing but mosquitos and Lyme disease?” Sam laughed. “Yeah, I’m sure. Besides, someone’s got to protect and service while you two are out in the woods playing Rambo.” Sam wished both his friends a safe trip before jogging back inside the compound.
“Which one of us is Rambo?” Steve asked Bucky.
“Get in the car, Rogers.” Bucky shook his head. He hopped into the front passenger’s seat and waited for Steve to slip behind the steering wheel.
“This is nice.” Steve gripped the steering wheel eagerly. “When was the last time we went camping together?”
“Twenty-Nine? Maybe? That one year we were in the scouts.” Bucky tried to recall.
“So, a solid ninety years ago? This will be fun.” Steve seemed confident. He started his vehicle and began piloting it out of the Compound’s long driveway. They still had a journey ahead of themselves until they reached the nearest campground in Virginia.
“You know, Shuri taught me that you can put music on these things?” Bucky indicated his smartphone. “So I asked her to help me do it. This is one of my favorite songs.” He tapped on the first song in the playlist.
As the song began to play on the SUV speakers, Steve was first impressed that Buck had figured out how to work the Bluetooth thing in his car. He then began to listen to the song. It was I’ll Be Seeing You this particular recording was being sung by Billie Holiday and still had that microphone crackle that all old recording once had. The song went on to say how Billie would be seeing someone in all their old familiar places. Lovely summer’s days, the moon and even the park. Steve understood why Bucky would like the song so much. It was how he’d always felt about his best friend.
There wasn’t a day that went by when Steve didn’t think of Bucky. Not before or during the war and certainly not after. He often found himself “seeing” Bucky everywhere he went. Whether it was imagining the two of them dining together in a small café or strolling together down a Brooklyn street. But you don’t have to pretend anymore. He reminded himself as the song reached its conclusion.
“Now this next one is because I know how much you like the movies.” The unmistakable tune of Somewhere Over the Rainbow began to play next. Steve couldn’t help but sing along.
“There’s a land that I’ve heard of, once in a lullaby. C’mon Buck, Sing with me!” He insisted.
“I’m not going to do that.” Bucky frowned.
“It’s just us, who are you trying to impress?” Steve laughed. “Someday I’ll wish upon a star…”
“And wake up where the clouds are far behind…” Bucky crooned reluctantly.
“That’s it!” Steve nodded, encouragingly. “That’s where you’ll find me!”
Bucky always hated singing, but music and movies made Steve happy. Especially back in the pre-serum days when he was weak, nothing brought a smile to Steve Rogers like belting out his favorite tune. So Bucky was going to suffer the entire four hour car ride to the camp ground just to watch his best friend light up beside him. He’d known for almost a century that he’d do anything for Steve Rogers.
“Well, here we are.” Bucky announced as if Steve wasn’t the one following the GPS directions to their campsite. Steve parked his SUV in the designated parking spot and the two began unloading their gear. “Should we start with the tents first or get a fire going?”
“I say divide and conquer.” “Steve breathed. “Get the most out of what little daylight we have left. I’ll pitch the tents and you can get the firewood?”
“Last one to finish has to cook dinner?” Bucky suggested.
“Bring it on.” Steve agreed.
While Steve dug around in the trunk of the SUV, looking for the tents, Bucky skulked off into the woods in search of firewood. Twenty minutes later, Bucky had a decent pile of wood gathered and started building his fire. He noticed Steve had managed to only set up one tent so far.
“Rogers, where are you sleeping this weekend?” He asked nodding at the single tent.
“Yeah, about that…” Steve rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. “Apparently we only packed one tent.”
“That’s my tent.” Bucky commented, continuing to work on his fire. “So really, it’s not that we only packed one tent it’s that you didn’t pack any tent.”
“It appears that way.” Steve sighed, dropping his hand to his side.
“Don’t worry Rogers, my parents taught me how to share. There’s plenty of room for both of us.” Bucky smiled and turned back to his fire which he was just about to light.
“Only seems fair I cook dinner.” Steve offered. “I’ll finish setting up camp. That give you enough time to finish the fire?”
“Fire’s finished.” Bucky said, fanning at his small spark. After a few seconds, he produced a small flame. “All that’s left to do is kick back and watch you cook.”
Bucky set up the two foldable chairs Steve had managed to excavate from the back of the SUV and took a seat. He was sure to angle his chair so that he could watch Rogers single handedly unpack their equipment. It wasn’t a particularly warm night, but carrying the equipment certainly had Steve sweating. He peeled off his sweat soaked shirt before hefting their cooler out of the vehicle.
“You know Rogers,” Bucky commented getting out of his seat to remove a beer from the cooler. “I’m not that hungry. He twisted the top off his drink and pressed the bottle to his lips.
“We haven’t eaten all day.” Steve huffed as he watched his friend down the cold beverage. “How can you not be hungry?” Bucky just shrugged in response. “We could skip dinner and go right to campfire songs…” Steve teased.
“I’d literally rather chop my good arm off.” Bucky countered.
“Fine, fine.” Steve shook his head in surrender. “What’s your opinion on s’mores?”
“You’re not going to stop until I do one of these manufactured-idealized camping moments with you, are you?”
“I’m not going to force your hand Buck…” Steve laughed.
“Where are the marshmallows?” Bucky rolled his eyes.
Three bags of marshmallows, several chocolate bars and a sunset later, Bucky and Steve sat in their folding chairs and watched their fire die down. Bucky stretched and yawned, now full of gelatin, sugar, crackers and chocolate he was ready for bed. Steve couldn’t help himself but yawn too.
“Ready to hit the hay?” He asked his best friend.
“Yeah I could call it.” Bucky agreed.
He got to his feet and made his way over to the tent. Bucky kicked off his shoed and climbed into the tent. Steve followed him. He turned on their magnetic tent light so that they could get ready for bed. As both men stripped down their boxes, Steve noticed for the first time to amount of scars covering his best friend’s body. He couldn’t help but wonder what the hell was strong enough to scar a super soldier.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” Bucky commented sarcastically. He felt uncomfortable under Steve’s gaze.
“I-I wasn’t…I Just…” Steve fumbled for an explanation. Bucky watched his friend’s cheeks flush in the dim lighting. The two were so close together in the tent they could practically feel each other’s breath.
“Oh these old things?” Bucky joked. He trailed one scar that ran across his chest and up over his shoulder. “Most of ‘em don’t hurt much anymore.”
“What about the other ones?” Steve sighed, his breath shaky.
“You get used to it.” Bucky shrugged.
“Could I…” Steve reached out cautiously. His fingers brushed the same scar that Bucky’s had just traveled. His friend shivered slightly at the touch. “Sorry…” Steve started to pull back, but Bucky caught his wrist.
“it’s okay, I’m not made of glass.” He said in a gruff tone.
The two men locked eyes. Bucky wasn’t sure if he leaned into Steve or if Steve had moved towards him, But the two men shared a silent agreement as they pressed their lips together. It was everything Bucky had been dreaming of since before the war. Bucky moved his arms so that he was holding Steve and just as he was about to part his lips, he felt Steve’s hands push his shoulders away.
“I’m sorry!” Bucky apologized immediately.
“No, No.” Steve mumbled rubbing Bucky’s shoulders. “I’m sorry. It’s just…I’ve never done something like this before.”
“Neither have I. Do you want to stop?” Bucky asked with genuine concern.
“No.” Steve answered.
“Can we just, ah, take it slow?” Steve bit his lip.
“As slow as you want, Baby.” Bucky promised, gong back in for another kiss.

Synopsis- Changbin left you for a new love but what happens when you interrupt his wedding with a surprise.
Angst and fluff... I got carried away
5.3k words
Warning: cussing that’s it.
This was requested. Thank you to the person who requested, I tried to make it angsty towards the end
Unedited
——————————————————————————
Some things were not meant to be. It was clear to you, to Changbin, and to everyone around you that you two were not meant to be. Never was. You both tried so hard in the relationship to make it work but he fell in love with another girl. Someone from his work. “Changbin, can we talk?” He ignored you, too busy smiling at his texts. “I have to tell you something important.” He said as he looked up at you. You sat down ready to listen, waiting patiently to talk to him about your relationship. “I’m in love with someone else…” Despite knowing that you two didn’t harbor feelings for each other, you still couldn’t help the tears that stung your eyes. “Oh…” That was the only thing you could manage out. You felt sick to your stomach and your news was long gone by now.
“I’m leaving tomorrow.” Changbin sighed out as he hugged you. It was just a friendly hug. The tears spilling from your eyes now, wet the shoulder of his shirt. “I wish you well.” You truly did. You wished Changbin well with his newfound love and all things in the future. He spent the rest of the night comforting you and packing. While you sat on the bed watching him, he was packing quickly, happy that you were being so understanding. “I’m setting this by the front door so I don’t wake you when I leave.” “So you are leaving before I get up?” Changbin nodded and you sighed. Might as well say your goodbyes now. “Changbin, this has been an interesting relationship and I’ve had fun. I hope that she loves you too because you are a great guy. I wanted to say my goodbye to you now so...goodbye.” Changbin smiled and wished you goodbye as well before laying down to sleep.
The morning sun peeked through the curtains and you looked longingly at the empty spot next to you. You had been up for an hour now, not being able to go back to sleep. The bed seemed comforting despite being cold without Changbin’s warm body next to you. In reality, you didn’t want to get up and see the empty half of the closet and the random producing gear not there. It was normal for you to have someone living with you. A sigh left your lips as you sat up. The hunger for food forced you to the kitchen to make some noodles. “I have to get used to being alone, Ziggy.” You said, talking to your brother’s cat who was meowing for you to feed him. “See, if Minho would stop taking in random cats then he might have room for you.” A small laugh slipped from your lips as she dove head first into the food. You grabbed your own food and took a bite only to rush to the bathroom to throw it back up.
You weren’t sick. There was no way. You hadn’t left the house in the past month due to getting laid off and Changbin didn’t get sick. That’s when it hit you. A few weeks ago, Changbin was feeling extra stress and you opted to help him relieve his tension. It led to a long steamy night that was platonic. You rushed to slip on your coat and your shoes, running out the door not bothering to lock it. Your neighbor was a mean woman who had a reputation of hitting people, no one dared to commit a crime in your area. The shop was open and you looked at the choices of pregnancy tests. “I’d recommend grabbing one of at least three different brands dear.” You looked to find a woman in her early thirties who seemed to have been through this process before. “I’ve been in that same position. It’ll be scary at first but you’ll love it later.” Grabbing three tests, you thanked her and checked out.
Back at home, it was a waiting game. You slumped to the floor when all three came back positive. It was definite. You were pregnant. Changbin didn’t pick up when you called, in fact, the phone didn’t even ring. Minho texted asking if everything was alright, something about sibling telepathy. You found out, Changbin had blocked your number and blocked all mutuals. Now you were stuck to grow and raise a child on your own. “Minho. I need you here.” Your voice was shaky and urgent. “I’m on my way.” He didn’t bother knocking knowing that you wouldn’t answer. Instead he rushed straight to your bedroom to find you huddled up in a ball. “Are you okay? I’ll go punch him for blocking you.” “I’m pregnant.” That was all you could say and Minho fumbled for his phone to call Changbin. “Don’t. He doesn’t want me in his life anymore.” “He should still know. It’s his kid too.” Minho dropped it after you shook your head again. “He made his decision.”
——————————
The following weeks were spent over the toilet in the morning and searching for a temporary job through the day. Somehow, some way, you had to find a way to make some money to support your kid. Eventually, you stepped into a small tattoo parlour, the smell of gel deodorant overwhelming your senses. Surprisingly, you didn’t get nauseous at the smell unlike the coffee shop. “Hello, may I help you?” A familiar woman in her mid twenties came to the front. You recognised her immediately. “Lisa!” “Wow, _____! I didn’t recognise you for a minute.” You laughed and agreed that you have changed quite a bit. “How is Changbin?” “He’s gone now. Found a new love.” Lisa offered you a kind, sympathetic smile. “Well, I hope you are doing well. Let’s sit down and talk, it’s lunch anyways.”
The two of you caught up, gossiping about everything that’s happened since High School. “So he left you pregnant?” Her face was contorted in disgust conveying her annoyance. “I didn’t find out until he left.” “I swear, I’m going to hit him really hard. The nerve he has to block you after that.” Your laugh echoed through the parlour at your friend’s support for you. “So you never told me why you were here.” “Oh, yeah. Do you think you could get me a job here? I just need something that I can do to make money. Even if it is cleaning toilets or something like that.” Lisa beamed wide at you. “I’m not putting you at the toilets. That’s disgusting. We have been short staffed in the tattoo section since our front desk person quit and I was forced to the front.” You could work at the front desk. “When do I start?” “Tomorrow.”
The day went by fast and you found yourself laying in bed for the night feeling giddy that you found a job. Minho of course was the first one to know about it and he congratulated you. “I’ve been wanting a tattoo. Where did you say you work again?” “The tattoo parlour down by the candy shop.” You could hear the distant sounds of scribbling on paper over the phone. “I’ll be there tomorrow.” Before you could protest, Minho had already hung up. “Why is he like this?” Ziggy meowed and curled up next to you, falling asleep. You sighed and plugged in your phone soon doing the same. Maybe you can do this by yourself. Yeah, you can. There’s no maybe about it. With Lisa and Minho by your side, you had this in the bag.
Your morning went by smoothly, aside from the cat knocking you down. Lisa smiled at you as you entered the store. “Hey, babes. Ready for today?” “As ready as I can get.” She showed you the ropes and introduced you to the two other tattooists. “This is San. He’s the best at colored tattoos. And this is Jongho who’s the best at the chromatic tattoos. I am the best at lining I guess.” Lisa shrugged and you kept the information in your mind. You still had an hour before the store opened so you decided to talk to the others and get to know them before setting up your area. At eight o’clock sharp the bell rang and you looked up. You laughed a little as you watched the figure walk up to the desk. “Don’t you know it’s mean to laugh at potential customers.” “Sorry, Minho. What brings you here today?” Your brother smiled at you before explaining the type of tattoo he wanted. “Okay, I’ll get one of our tattooists to draw it out and get you inked up.”
His face dropped when he saw you bring Lisa out. “Lisa?“ “Minho!” You laughed as they talked while she drew a small cat for him. “Let’s go to the back.” The shop was quiet as you waited for customers to enter. “You look bored.” You jumped as Jongho came up beside you to sit down. He smiled and took out a sketchbook. “The mornings are usually quiet like this. Everyone is at work.” “It makes for good drawing time, too. We can create new tattoos or inspire other designs.” San added while grabbing another chair to sit on the other side. “You guys drew all these by yourselves?” You asked in amazement as you looked at the drawings that were scattered and framed around the room. “Most of them. Some came from our mentors.” Each drawing was carefully sketched and lined with love for the work. Your gallery view ended when Minho came out with tears in his eyes.
“Why’d you let me do that? It hurt.” The boys snickered while you sighed. “As I recall, you were the one that wanted it.” “No remorse for your older brother. I gave you my love and siblingship and you give me no respect.” Minho was always dramatic when he was in pain. You swore up and down that Shakespeare would be jealous. “Suck it up, buttercup!” “Ugh.” You rang him out and laughed as he mumbled about something random on his way out. “Your brother is funny.” “He’s dramatic, San. I can’t with him sometimes.” The clock ticked by slowly and the boys kept you company while they drew. The bell rang announcing a new customer. “Hi, I need a tattoo.” You smiled at the customer who was a girl that couldn’t be older than nineteen. The bell rang again, an older woman entered behind her. “Did you already talk to the lady for a tattoo.” “Yes, mom. I was trying to.”
After looking around, the girl decided she wanted a flower tattoo on her hip. “Can you do it?” She asked you. “It’s nothing against you guys but I’d feel more comfortable with a girl.” “I don’t do tattoos but my friend Lisa can.” Soon, the others became busy as more customers came in. The buzzing sound of the tattoo guns soothed you. The door opened revealing a taller man, about 5’10. Instantaneously, you were mesmerised. “Excuse me?” He waved his hand in your face. “I’m sorry.” “Is San busy?” You blinked, trying to remember if he was. “Yes, he is. Do you need a tattoo?” “Yes, I do. I guess I am early for my appointment.” Your finger scanned down the appointment book until you found the 5 o'clock slot. “Seonghwa?” He nodded. “San should be done soon.”
You were correct. San finished up his client quickly and took in Seonghwa while the other customer paid. Jongho finished quickly after and joined you. “Looks like Seonghwa is here?” You nodded surprised that he knew the customer. “You know him?” “He’s been getting tattoos for a year now.” Seonghwa didn’t seem like he was the type to get tattoos. “Really? He looks like this was his first time.” “Nope.” Jongho told you more about Seonghwa. “He really has a sleeve tattoo?” Now that you think about it, he was wearing a coat when he came in. “Yep. He’s working on the other arm now so he comes in at least once a month.” It was silent for a few minutes until Jongho spoke up. “Do you have any tattoos?” You shook your head. “No but I want one.” “What kind?” He tilted his head, curiously looking at you like a puppy would.
“A sunflower. It reminds me of the little girl I used to be.” Jongho smiled and nodded. “That’s a cute idea. It suits you.” “Do you have tattoos?” The boy nodded and unbuttoned some of his shirt to show the tattoo that cascaded over his chest. You looked in awe at his tattoos, almost reaching out to touch them but stopping yourself from embarrassment. “They’re so pretty!” “San-hyung did them.” The detail was immaculate. “Are you stripping down for her or something?” The two of you turned to see San and Seonghwa walk out. The tattoo that was freshly done, was covered up and you frowned. However, you did notice it was down towards the front of the forearm. Jongho looked anything but embarrassed about the ordeal. “She asked if I had tattoos.” “Does she have any?” You shook your head no before he could answer. “She’s a tattoo virgin! If you get a tattoo, you have to let me do it.” San pleaded while the rest laughed.
It was well into the night when the parlour closed. You cursed yourself for not bringing a coat and walking here. The air nipped at your skin as soon as you stepped outside. “Hey! Don’t think you aren’t going anywhere without protection.” You squinted into the dark to see Lisa emerging with Jongho. “I’m fine.” “You’re pregnant. You’re not fine.” That’s how you found yourself walking home with Jongho. When you stepped in front of your apartment door, you could hear the neighbour screeching. “I don’t think it’s safe here. That right there sounds scary.” “She’s just a little, old, mean lady.” His face scrunched up. “Those are the worst.” “I hope it isn’t that far to your home from here.” Sighing slightly and shook his head. “It’s only a few blocks opposite of the parlour.” “Jongho. Why don’t you come in for dinner. As a thank you and so you can warm up, your nose is red.”
He smiled and you worked on dinner. Jongho found himself playing with your cat while looking at the plethora of pictures on the wall. A few of you and Minho, a few of you and Changbin, a few of you, and a few of Minho. A laugh escaped his lips as he looked at a picture of you where you shaved your eyebrows off. “What are you laughing at in here?” When you saw where his gaze was directed, you yelled and pulled it off the wall. “I already saw it.” “It stops from further embarrassment.” A little bit later you served dinner. “Mmm. You know who would like this even more than me?” “Who?” He took another bite, relishing all the flavors. “San and Seonghwa.” “Do you think either of them will take leftovers?” Yes, he nodded. “Is Seonghwa even going to be there tomorrow?” Once again, Jongho nodded. “He’s getting a tattoo cover up on his other arm?” “What is he? Rich?” Jongho laughed. Tattoos were pricey, even small ones were. “I don’t know.”
Jongho left your apartment full and happy. Somehow, he squirmed his way into doing the dishes for you. “It’s the least I can do since you made me food.” He had argued with you for ten minutes until you gave in to him. The small tupperwares were filled with the food and ready to go tomorrow. You decided that you wanted to freshen yourself up. A nice long shower warmed you up and prepared you for sleep. It had been a long day at the tattoo shop and you enjoyed it but it left you sore. Ziggy curled up on your chest and purred. “That tickles.” You giggled out making the cat meow at you for moving. “Okay, okay. Sorry.” With the cat on top of you, you slowly drifted to sleep. Somehow, you didn’t move all night while sleeping and neither did the cat so when you woke up you winced in pain.
When you looked in the mirror to check out your outfit, you noticed your stomach protruding a bit more than usual. “I need to set up an appointment to go to the doctor. Just to make sure you are healthy.” You decided on a simple loose sweater today, not wanting to make the same mistake as yesterday. The shop was warm when you walked in, a sign that someone had been there for a while. “Hey, sunflower!” “Who-oh hey, San.” His sleeves were rolled up while he cleaned and you could see the tattoos residing on his arm. “You seemed to be fascinated by tattoos there, sunflower.” “They are so cool. The amount of work that goes in it is impeccable.” San smiled and helped you put your lunch in the fridge. You decided to stand today instead of sit by the cash register. “You look tense.” “I’m sore.” San grabbed a painkiller and gave it to you. “Here. You need it. People are going to be scared if you are squaring up to them.”
—————————————
Months passed by and you fell in love with the parlour. San, Jongho, Lisa, and even Seonghwa have begun to feel like a family to you. Seonghwa even came in early just to talk to you. Sometimes he’d come in on days he didn’t get tattoos just to hang out. This day wasn't any different. The door opened showing Seonghwa walking in. You went to greet him when you stopped and stared. He wasn’t in his normal leather jacket with a random rock band t-shirt, rather now, he was in a plain white sleeveless shirt. Finally, you could see the tattoo collection he’s been working on. “You’re staring, Sunflower.” You jumped as San came up behind you to greet Seonghwa. In return, Seonghwa smirked at you getting called out. “I’ll be right back, hyung.” He nodded and watched as San made his way to his area to disinfect.
“You looked lost, princess.” Heat rose to your cheeks at the simple nickname. “I-I like your tattoos.” “Thanks.” While San took his sweet time, Seonghwa teased you endlessly. “So I heard you went to the doctor yesterday. How’s the baby doing?” “How’d you find out I was pregnant?” Seonghwa smiled and pointed back at Jongho’s area. “He keeps telling me, he’s going to be an uncle.” You made a mental note to hit Jongho for not talking to you first. Either way, he is right, he will be an unrelated uncle as will San too. “Yeah, I found out that Lisa knows the gender and plans on throwing me a gender reveal party tomorrow.” “Am I invited?” You smiled. “Of course, Hwa! You are family.” Seonghwa opened his mouth to respond but San chose that time to call him back. Watching him walk away, you sighed. The words he was going to speak were lost scattered in the air like dust particles.
Lisa told you to dress nicely so you put on a dress that revealed the baby bump that was now growing bigger and bigger. You didn’t bother with make-up because you knew you were going to cry today whether it was from joy or the hormones. The shop was eerily quiet when you entered, but then again, it was a party and Lisa loved being extra. “You know, you guys are going to scare out the baby if you pop out of nowhere.” “You ruined our surprise.” You laughed at Lisa coming out from behind the counter. The other four spilled out into the room as well. Minho, Seonghwa, San, Lisa, and Jongho were there to celebrate you and your baby. “I can’t wait so are you ready for the reveal?” You nodded. “Then pull the plastic off of Jongho’s arm.” There was the signature black plastic they used to cover up tattoos.
“You did not get a tattoo for my gender reveal.” Jongho nodded. You stepped forward and carefully peeled the plastic from his arm to reveal a Sunflower colored in with yellows and pinks. “It’s a girl!” Minho screamed as he saw the colors and you hugged the nearest person to you and cried. “She’s going to be beautiful just like you, princess.” The chest you were crying into vibrated with the hum of the voice. You looked up to see Seonghwa smiling down at you. “Did you just call me beautiful?” “Yes.” Your hug became tighter and the others went back to get some cake. “How about you let me take you on a date.” “You aren’t going to leave me because I’m having a kid are you?” Almost offended, Seonghwa backed up. “Of course not. If this goes well, I’m not going to care if you have a kid or sixteen of them.”
————————————
The date went extremely well and you started to see Seonghwa more often. He went with you to your doctor appointments, stayed up with you in the middle of the night when you were craving random things, and he helped you with chores. Sometimes, he came into the parlour to bring you a random thing you didn’t know you were craving. You two were peacefully sleeping when you woke up in seething pain. A wet feeling soaked through your night dress. Another sharp pain. “H-Hwa?” You stuttered out, trying not to scream. Seonghwa woke up and rubbed his eyes. “Yeah.” “She’s coming.” He bolted up and helped you change your dress because you complained about the feeling. The entire way there, Seonghwa sped with his blinkers on and constantly checked on you. “Are you alright?” “FOR GOODNESS SAKE. I LOVE YOU, HWA BUT IF YOU ASK ME THAT ONE MORE TIME, I’M GOING TO SHOVE MY FOOT UP YOUR ASS.”
The doctors took you into the hospital room and prepped you for the latent phase of labor. While you waited for the dilation to increase, Seonghwa called the others and it seemed like they raced there because within minutes, the entire group was surrounding your bed. “I’m going to be an uncle.” “We all know I’m the real uncle.” “Shut up, Minho.” The boys bickered back and forth while you felt another contraction. Hours of pain and pushing later, your baby lay in your arms. “What’s her name?” The doctor asked you, wanting a name for the birth certificate “Aurora…” Jongho was the first one to hold the baby aside from you. Seonghwa pouted but still let him hold the child. “Hi, Aurora. I’m your favorite uncle. I’m uncle Jongho.” “Seriously. I’m the uncle. I’m the favorite.” Minho whined as Jongho passed along the baby.
——————————
It’s been three years since Aurora was born. Three years since you fell in love with Seonghwa who has been a father figure to your kid and a great boyfriend. He stayed at home while you went to work to support the family. Every once in a while, he brought the little girl into the parlour to bring you food and she visits the others when they aren’t busy. The customers absolutely love her. “Hey, mama! I brought some...umm...food.” “You did?” Aurora nodded while you swept her bangs out of her face. “I think we need to cut your bangs again.” “Cut...my...bangs?” You pointed to her hair. “Is that my favorite little niece?” “UNCLE JONGHO!” She squealed and ran into his arms while you were left to check out the customer. Seonghwa laughed as San came out as well. “We all know I’m her favorite.” Aurora played with Jongho’s hair while he went on break.
“Hey, this came for you today.” Seonghwa remembered while pulling out a fancy letter. You took it and opened it to pull out a letter. “You have been invited to Hwa-Young and Changbin’s wedding in two days. We hope to see you there.” “Isn’t that your ex?” San asked and you nodded. “Seonghwa, will you go with me?” “Of course, princess.” He kissed your cheek before calling for Aurora. “Aww, can uncle Jongho come over tonight?” “They all can. I’ll make dinner for them.” She cheered and hugged everybody goodbye before grabbing his hand. “Did I miss Aurora?” “Yes, Lisa, you did.” Lisa grumbled and pouted before going to clean her equipment. “YOU’RE INVITED TONIGHT FOR DINNER!” You yelled towards the back and she yelled out an okay.
——————————
You and Seonghwa dressed up in your best outfits. Your daughter was dressed up in a pretty pink dress and had her hair braided courtesy of Lisa. The trip was short as the wedding venue was only a few miles away. “Oh, hello! You must be Changbin’s friend!” A pretty woman made her way up to you. “Hi-“ “Can you help me get ready, please?” You looked at Seonghwa, a bit overwhelmed but still going to help and he nodded taking Aurora to find a seat. “Sure.” The woman grabbed your hand and dragged you to a dressing room. “I’m Hwa-Young! Changbin’s fiancée. I invited you because I saw photos of you together and decided you two were great friends.” “Actually, I hope you don’t mind but I’m his ex. Don’t worry though, I have someone else and I’m here to show my support.”
Hwa-Young pursed her lips and smiled. “It’s okay. You seem really nice anyways.” She stepped into a magnificent wedding gown and asked you to help her tie the back. It was a struggle but you managed to lace it up and tie it tight like she asked. “You have a pretty little girl.” “Thank you.” She’s Changbin’s too, you wanted to say but you kept it quiet, not wanting to ruin the event. Hwa-Young thanked you and rushed to get to the doors. You slipped inside before the band started and found your seat. “She’s really nice.” You whispered. “Mommy, shhh.” Aurora hushed you and pointed at band playing. Gasps sounded through the crowd as Hwa-Young walked down the aisle. The ceremony was beautiful and well executed. After the I do’s and vows, it was time for the party. You mingled with Changbin’s siblings when they realized you were there. They played with your daughter as well.
Then, he noticed you. He was confused why you were there because he didn’t invite you. “What are you doing here?” Could’ve been a better way to phrase that. “Congratulations, Changbin. I’m here to celebrate your big day.” “Look, if this is because you managed to find feelings for me-“ Seonghwa walked up to you, handing you a drink. “Is everything okay, princess?” Changbin shut up immediately. “Oh there you are, Binnie! I see you found your ex slash friend I invited. She’s really nice. Have you seen her daughter?” “Daughter?” As if on cue, your daughter ran up to you. “Mama!” You lifted her up and Changbin’s eyes widened. “Binnie? Is it just me or does she kind of look like you?” He noticed the similar features. “How old is she?” “Three.” His face dropped. “When’d you find out?” “The day after you left.” Aurora smiled at the faces that Seonghwa was making to distract her. You’ve definitely noticed that she had Changbin’s smile.
You asked Aurora to introduce herself. “My name is Aurora.” Changbin looked in awe at his daughter that he never even once wanted to know about. “I want daddy to hold me!” She reached for Seonghwa and Changbin felt his heart drop. It should be him she’s calling dad. Seonghwa took Aurora and led her to go see the other kids. “I want to talk to you about her.” “I never knew.” Of course he didn’t, he blocked you. “You were the one who left me and blocked me. I tried to reach out to you but you never answered me. I was left all alone to raise a child. If I didn’t have Seonghwa and my friends to help me-” You hissed out stopping for a breath, annoyed at his pathetic excuse. You’re starting to regret coming to the wedding. “I didn’t want to think about you. I wanted to focus on my new life. I didn’t think you’d get pregnant.” “I came here on good terms and was willing to let you visit your daughter but now, I don’t know if I want to.”
You turned away to grab Seonghwa and Aurora to leave but Changbin stopped you. “You said she was my daughter so I have a right to see her and visit.” Now, this was ridiculous. Luckily, Hwa-Young turned up the music and distracted the people from the argument going on in the corner. “You have NO right to see her. You didn’t even bother to let me tell you. Hell, with the way you are acting, you don’t deserve to see her until she’s old enough to make her own damn decisions. Congratu-fucking-lations. You ruined your own damn life.” At this point his wedding was forgotten. With anger in his eyes he spoke up. “LISTEN. SHE IS MY DAUGHTER. I WANT TO SPEND TIME WITH HER. SHE SHOULD BE CALLING ME DAD, NOT SOME RANDOM DUDE!” The music was forgotten as people looked towards the drama.
“I CAME HERE IN PEACE WANTING TO CELEBRATE YOUR DAY BUT SINCE YOU WANT TO BE DRAMATIC LET’S BE DRAMATIC. THAT RANDOM ‘DUDE’ IS MORE OF A DAD TO HER THAN YOU WILL EVER BE. THAT RANDOM ‘DUDE’ WAS THE ONE THAT TOOK ME TO THE HOSPITAL AND HELPED ME RAISE HER. THAT RANDOM ‘DUDE’ IS THE FUCKING LOVE OF MY LIFE SO FUCK OFF CHANGBIN.” Changbin reached for you one last time but you slapped his hand away. In your way out with your daughter and boyfriend, you apologized to the crowd and wished Hwa-Young well. With tears forming in his eyes, he watched you walk away. The rest of the party went on but he was only half there. When it came to gift time, he opened a small gift that was from you and Aurora.
It was an 8x10 photo frame of Aurora smiling. A card was put to the side explaining that it was his daughter. He realized that you had in fact planned to keep quiet and tell him about his daughter through this gift. Now he screwed up what was supposed to be the best day of his life by being a selfish prick. You on the other hand were defending your daughter and he couldn’t blame you. He couldn’t blame you for yelling at him and refusing him to see his daughter. He couldn’t blame you for calling him out. Changbin set the photo to the side and finished opening the rest of the presents. None had any meaning to him. They were stupid housewarming gifts like a blender and a mixer. At the end of the party though, his sister slapped him and called him out for being an ass.
You felt no remorse for Changbin. Jongho and San were at the house when you got back home. “I’m going to take a shower. Have uncle Jongho change you while daddy gets changed.” Aurora nodded and ran to jump on uncle Jongho to tell him what you said. You washed all the bad thoughts off of you and changed into a simple set of pj’s. When you went out to the living room, you found Seonghwa, Jongho, and Aurora playing hide-and-seek. Your daughter giggled in delight when Seonghwa found her. “I gottcha. Come here you little munchkin.” She ran away from him and you laughed as Seonghwa chased her around the living room. “Ah you’re too fast for this old man!” He slumped to the floor and she walked over and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Catch me daddy!” Seonghwa got up and ran after her again, this time catching her and smothering her with kisses.

Anything For You
Pairing: Kristanna
Word Count: 3,688/AO3
Summary: Anna agrees to go camping despite her uncertainties, but Kristoff has a few tricks up his sleeve to make their experience more comfortable.
Author’s Note: Hi all! Here I am, once again writing about a topic that I know nothing about. I’m sure I got something wrong haha. I’m also the most indecisive person on the face of the earth, so I couldn’t decide how to end this. I don't even know if any of this makes sense tbh XD I hope you enjoy it regardless!
“I don’t want you to leave,” Kristoff sighed.
“I wish I could stay, but we both have work in the morning and I have to drive home.” Anna wrapped her arms around him. “I’ll see you on Friday.”
“I actually wanted to talk to you about that,” he said sheepishly, before pulling away and rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. “You didn’t actually plan to do anything except hang out this weekend, right?”
“No,” she shook her head. “Did you have something in mind?”
“Well, I was hoping to go camping. I haven’t been in a long time - since before we got together - and I’d love for you to come with me,” he explained, before hastily adding, “But only if you want to, of course.”
“I’ve never been camping before,” she responded, feeling a bit uneasy about the idea. Any vacations that her family had taken had always been to some kind of fancy resort; the thought of camping had never crossed her mind as a thing people really did until she was a teenager.
“I know, and I know it’s probably not something you’re thrilled about, but it’s only for two nights. I really want to go hiking and fishing before it gets too cold out.”
“Okay,” she nodded. “If that’s what you want to do.”
“Really?” he asked, his face lighting up.
“Of course! Don’t be silly.”
“This is going to be so great,” he smiled. “I wasn’t sure what you were going to say, but I’m really glad that you’re willing to come along.”
“I’d do anything for you, Kristoff,” she promised, giving him another hug for good measure. “I’ll let you know when I get home, okay?”
He nodded. “Okay, drive safely.”
“I will.”
She spent the entire twenty minute drive agonizing over what the weekend would be like; she knew nothing about camping. In her head, all she could picture were tents and sleeping bags in the middle of the cold, dark woods. She was so focused on her thoughts that she had no recollection of the actual drive; with a sigh, she made her way inside, taking notice of the fact that the lights were still on, which could only mean that her sister was awake. She kicked her shoes off in the entryway and texted Kristoff before venturing in.
“Hey,” she called out as she approached the living room.
“Hi,” Elsa responded, not taking her eyes away from the book she was reading. “How are you?”
“Pretty good,” Anna responded, sitting on the opposite end of the couch. “I’m going camping this weekend.”
Elsa looked up at her younger sister and blinked a few times in disbelief. “You’re going camping?”
“I know,” Anna cringed. “But it’s something that Kristoff really likes to do, and it’s not like I’ve ever done it before, so I don’t really know that I’m going to hate it.”
“I don’t know, sleeping on the floor in the middle of the woods sounds very unappealing to me.”
“Yeah, but we’ll be in a tent.”
“What about bugs? Or bears? Or the countless other wild animals that lurk in the woods?”
Anna shrugged, a bit of anxiety rising in her. “I’m sure we’ll be fine.”
“And what will you eat? Where will you go to the bathroom?”
“I don’t know, Elsa,” she answered exasperatedly. “Look, I’m going to go and if it’s really awful then I’ll just request that next time we get a camper or something. But I don’t want to disappoint Kristoff and say ‘no’ off the bat because he does everything that I want to do.”
Elsa nodded thoughtfully. “That’s really nice of you. I don’t know if I would be willing to do the same.”
“I have a feeling that you’ll feel differently if you ever love someone,” she muttered under her breath, sliding off of the couch. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go figure out what on earth I’m supposed to pack.”
She headed upstairs to her room, and sat down on her bed before grabbing her laptop and logging on. After a few minutes of research, it became clear that she didn’t have most of the things that were required to go camping in the fall, and amidst her anxiety returning, she decided that a quick call to her lifeline wouldn’t hurt.
Kristoff answered on the first ring. “Hey, Anna.”
“Hi, honey. Do you have a minute?”
“Sure, what’s up?”
“So, I’m trying to figure out what I have to bring with me this weekend, and I’m having a bit of a hard time because I don’t really have any of the things this website says I should have.”
“Like what?”
She squinted at the screen whilst reading off some of the items to him. “Waterproof boots, a rain jacket, a sleeping bag...sleeping pads? I don’t even know what that is.”
“It’s like a cushion that you put down so you aren’t sleeping on directly on the hard ground,” he explained. “It’s also an extra layer of insulation.”
“Gotcha,” she remarked. “Will we have time to stop somewhere so I can get these things?”
“Don’t worry about it, I’ve got it covered.”
“I have total faith in you, I do - but unless you have a pair of boots in my size laying around somewhere, we will have to stop and get them.”
“It’ll all be taken care of,” he assured her.
“You know what? I’ll go to the mall and buy the stuff I need before we leave on Friday.”
“I don’t have any issues with stopping,” he promised. “You don’t have to rush out and go buy a bunch of stuff.”
“Alright,” she said, cautiously. “Can you text me a list of clothes I should pack? And what type of bag I should pack them in.”
“Absolutely, but you really won’t need as much as you think you do.”
“That’s easy for you to say; you’re a human furnace. It’s probably going to be very cold at night and everything I’ve read says to wear lots of layers.”
“Just...trust me,” he breathed, in a rather content tone.
It was both comforting and alarming to her. “I trust you.”
“Please try not to worry about it, it’s going to be great.”
She smiled to herself. “I’ll try.”
“Good, now try to get some sleep, okay?”
“Okay,” she agreed. “Goodnight. Love you.”
“Love you, too.”
“And don’t forget to send me that list!” she called at the last second, and she heard him laugh before the line went dead.
Her phone buzzed a minute later; she glanced down at the text that read, Warm clothes, toiletries, backpack. Don’t overthink it. Love you.
She couldn’t help but roll her eyes; it was the opposite of helpful. Regardless, she sent back a message thanking him, setting her mind to doing more research and getting the necessities at the mall.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A trip to the mall after work on Friday was not enough to quell Anna’s anxiety about the camping trip; she still felt wholly unprepared, even as she was sitting on the floor of her bedroom, folding her clothes and allowing her mind to race. A soft knock on the door brought her back to reality. She looked over, and Kristoff was leaning against her doorframe.
“Can I come in?” he asked.
“Hey, I didn’t know you were here already!”
“I texted you, but it’s not a big deal. Elsa let me in.”
“Sorry, my phone is charging over there,” she said, pointing to her desk.
He sat down on the edge of her bed and watched as she hurried to throw her clothes into her backpack. “Is that my hoodie?”
“Maybe.” She shoved the sweatshirt into the bag and changed the subject. “I went to the mall today.”
He cocked his head. “I promised that we would stop to get the stuff that you needed.”
“I know. We still have to stop at the camping supplies store for my boots. The sporting goods store at the mall was all sold out and I need them.”
“We’ll get them. What’d you get at the mall?”
“I bought wool socks. And a puffer vest and a fleece jacket. I already had a hat and a scarf and mittens, of course.”
“That sounds good, you won’t feel cold wearing all of that.”
“I had to go on a wild goose chase for leggings, though, because all of the Victoria’s Secret leggings I have are made of cotton and that’s not a good material to wear while camping, apparently.”
“You did a lot of research about camping, huh?”
“I had to, my boyfriend was being intentionally vague,” she remarked, narrowing her eyes at him.
“I wasn’t being intentionally vague,” he corrected. “You’re not an avid hiker and camper, you don’t really need special camping-only clothes.”
She zipped up her bag. “But you like camping, so this is probably not a one time thing - unless you plan on going without me after this.”
“You’re always invited,” he assured her. “Are you ready to go?”
“Yeah,” she nodded. “I feel a little unprepared, though. Are you sure that I have everything I’ll need?”
“Yes, I’m sure,” he chuckled. “It’s going to be fine.”
Anna stood up and unplugged her phone and it’s charger, stuffing them both into the side pocket of her backpack. She slid one of the straps over her shoulder. “Ready.”
He followed her down the stairs and to the front door, where Elsa was waiting.
“Be safe,” she said, pulling Anna in for a hug.
“We will,” Anna assured her. “See you on Sunday.”
“Have fun!” Elsa called from the doorway as they walked out.
They climbed into the car, which was parked at the end of the driveway, and Anna set her backpack on the floorboard near her feet. Kristoff started the engine, then leaned over the center console to reach something in the backseat. Upon turning back around, set a box on her lap. “Here, these are for you.”
It was a shoe box. She flipped open the lid and inside were grey hiking boots with purple accents and laces. Her breath caught in her throat. “You bought me boots?”
“Yeah, you said you needed them.”
“You remembered my shoe size?”
“...Yeah?” He raised an eyebrow. “Was I not supposed to know?”
“No,” she shook her head. “I only dragged you shoe shopping, like, once so I didn’t think that you knew what size I wore.”
“You didn’t drag me anywhere,” he corrected. “It’s just something that I paid attention to. I know for a fact that you know my shoe size even though I’ve never bought shoes in front of you.”
“I do,” she nodded, looking down at the box again. “Thank you for thinking of me.”
“Anything for my girl,” he grinned, shifting gears from park to drive.
The drive up to the campsite went by fast; the roads were empty and they were able to enjoy each other’s company and talk as they made their way through the mountains, as well as stop at a diner for a quick meal. After an hour on the road, Kristoff pulled into a parking lot surrounded by lush green pine trees.
“This is the place?” she asked, a wave of anxiety rushing over her. The sky was overcast and it was a little foggy, and on top of that she couldn’t see any visible trails or signage from where she was sitting. She figured that there had to be one around here somewhere.
He nodded, parking on the far end. “This is it.”
He climbed out of the car and went around the back to open the trunk. In the meantime, she opened her own door and twisted so her legs could hang out and she could put her boots on. She toed off her sneakers, and slid her foot into the first boot, realizing for the first time how heavy they were.
Kristoff appeared in front of her. “You need some help?”
“No, I’ve got it,” she answered, tugging the laces through the hook eyelets. When they felt tight enough, she tied the ends onto a knot and started with the other boot. When she finished, he held out his hand and she took it before hopping out of the car.
“Put your sneakers in your backpack,” he recommended. “You’ll be dying to take those off when we get to the site.”
“Okay,” she agreed. She did as he said, squeezing the shoes into the bag and then slid her arms into each of the straps. She closed the door and walked back to the trunk, growing concerned when she realized he hadn’t brought that much stuff along with him. “Where’s all your stuff?”
“It’s right here,” he said, patting the duffle bag.
“There’s no way that that’s everything we need for two nights.”
“Everything’s in here,” he assured her.
“You’re joking, right? Where’s the tent? The sleeping bags? Food and water? They can’t all possibly fit in that tiny bag.”
He placed a hand on each of her shoulders. “Anna, relax, you’re working yourself up over nothing. I’ve got it all covered, okay?”
“Okay,” she nodded, exhaling shakily. She wasn’t quite sure if she believed him, but he was the camping expert.
He removed his hands in order to close the trunk, and then took her by the hand. “Come on, we’re going this way.”
He led her toward a densely packed area of trees, no path in sight. She gulped. “We aren’t going to be following a trail? We’re just going to...walk in the woods?”
“Yup,” he answered.
“That doesn’t seem very safe,” she remarked.
“I know these woods, we’ll be fine.”
Although he was trying to be reassuring, it was not helpful in the slightest. Her mind was wandering - what would they do if they encountered a wild animal? Or if they got lost - how would help find them? Would they starve to death or freeze to death? Meanwhile, Kristoff was as cool as a cucumber, forging ahead and seemingly doing so without a care in the world.
They walked for a long time, much longer than she had imagined they would. The woods were damp and cold, with lots of ups and downs in the terrain. A slight separation formed between them, and she trailed behind him, struggling to keep up. They kept the talking to a minimum, until she recognized the area that they were in.
“Hey, haven’t we passed these trees before?”
“No.”
She wiped the sweat off her brow with the back of her hand. “Are you sure? Because I swear that I’ve seen this fallen tree.”
“It’s your mind playing tricks on you,” he assured her. “Just keep walking, don’t pay too much attention to the trees because they all look alike.”
She threw her head back in a moment of frustration and groaned, but did as he said and kept walking. She kept reminding herself that he knew a lot more than she did, but it was incredibly difficult to not worry about their safety. Her feet were starting to ache from wearing the unbroken-in boots, and carrying the weight of her backpack was getting harder and harder on her back and shoulders with each step. When it had started to become noticeably darker, and they were still walking, she spoke up again.
“Kristoff?” she called, a little breathless from the thin mountain air.
He turned around. “Yeah?”
“Shouldn’t we stop somewhere soon? I know that you’re the camping expert, but it’s getting dark out and we still need to set everything up.”
He stopped for a moment, allowing her enough time to catch up to him before they continued. “The site is just a little bit further ahead, we’ll make it.”
“I trust you, but you’re making me a little nervous.”
“You have nothing to be nervous about,” he assured her, in a sincere tone.
She stopped dead in her tracks regardless. “No offense, but that’s something a serial killer would say.”
He raised his eyebrows. “Did you just accuse me of bringing you out here so I could murder you?”
He reached out to take her hand and she took a step back, crossing her arms over her chest. “It’s just a little too convenient. I may be a lot smaller than you, but I could kick your ass if I have to.”
“That won’t be necessary,” he chuckled, motioning for her to continue following him.
She did, though she tried to keep a safe distance in case she had to run. “You’re just acting so...strange.”
“You’ll see why as soon as we get past this cluster of trees.”
Suddenly, the land in front of them cleared into a wide open space. He pointed to a rather large campground that was not populated by tents, but rather by a few wood cabins. “There. That’s where we’re staying.”
Her heart was racing, now. “But those are cabins.”
“I know.”
“Wait, are we not sleeping in a tent?”
“We’re not,” he said, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. “Surprise.”
She shook her head in disbelief. “I’m so confused.”
“Look, I know that you’ve never been camping before, and I really wanted you to come along, but I knew that you were a little uncomfortable with the idea of sleeping outside.”
“You did this for me?”
“Of course,” he said in a low voice, before pressing a kiss to her temple. “You agreed to come because you knew it would make me happy. The least I could do was make sure that you would be comfortable.”
“But I just…accused you of being a serial killer. And I threatened to beat you up.”
“Because I spent an hour and a half leading you in circles around the woods and deflecting your questions to throw you off.”
She blinked a few times, unable to slow her pounding heart or her racing mind. “I don’t know what to say.”
“How about we go check it out?”
“Okay,” she nodded.
The walk across the field was much easier than their trudge through the woods.
“My truck is actually parked right over there.” He pointed to the right, and though it was hard to see, there was a parking lot just past the furthest cabin on that side. He then pointed to the furthest cabin on the left. “We’re staying in that last one on the left.”
“How did I not see any of these?” she asked, dumbfounded.
“Because I parked on the far end and took you through the woods, behind the cabins. If I had wanted you to see them, you would’ve.”
“This isn’t technically camping, you know,” she pointed out.
“It’s glamping,” he smirked. “Besides, we can’t have you freezing to death out there.”
She frowned. “I just feel bad that you got jipped out of a real camping trip.”
“I didn’t get jipped out of anything,” he promised. “We can go hiking and fishing, we can build a campfire right outside of the cabin and look up at the stars, and best of all, you’re here with me - that’s the most important thing.”
In no time, they were walking up the stairs to the small deck of the cabin, where two chairs and a small table sat. He pulled a key out of his pocket and unlocked the door before leading her inside. It was much nicer than she anything she could’ve expected; a large, comfortable-looking bed in the far corner, and a couch near the front door. It was cozy and quaint, and the absolute opposite of sleeping in a tent in the middle of the woods.
“It’s not fancy, but there’s a bed, and a bathroom, and a kitchenette,” he said, pointing out each of those areas as he said its name. “I already stocked up the fridge, and look! We have electricity and heat, but there’s also a fireplace and we can keep a fire going.”
She was at a loss for words, and frankly, a little disoriented. The boots, the cabin, it was all so unexpected and so...thoughtful. So romantic.
He glanced down at her face and squeezed her shoulder. “What’s on your mind?”
“I’m just a little shocked, that’s all,” she answered, her voice soft and shaky.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” she nodded. “I totally wasn’t expecting this and I’m a little overwhelmed, but in a good way.”
“Do you need to sit down?”
“No, no,” she said, frantically waving her hands around as she spoke. “It’s just that I agreed to come camping to make you happy, and even if I absolutely hated it, I’d still do it again because I know you love it and I love you so I want you to be happy all the time, of course, but then you turn around and do this amazing thing to make me happy, and even though I’ve known for a long time that you’re the person I want to be with for the rest of my life -”
“You want to spend the rest of your life with me?”
“More than anything,” she breathed. “I’ve never been so certain about something.”
“I feel the same way,” he cooed, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “I want a lifetime with you.”
“I didn’t even know that loving someone this much was possible,” she mumbled, reaching up to his face and gently brushing her thumb against his lips before settling it on his cheek. He leaned into her touch, pressing a kiss to her palm. “I really can’t believe that you did this.”
“You make me so unbelievably happy,” he confessed, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer to him; she closed her eyes, taking in his smell. He smelled vaguely of pine and body wash and sweat, and she was sure that she smelled the same. His leaned down, his breath was warm on her face when he whispered, “I’d do anything for you.”
She softly pressed her lips to his before leaning back to meet his gaze. “How about we make good on that promise, then?”

Take A Chance On Me
Ship: Royality
Word Count: 3,127
Warnings: Mentions of being horny, breakups
--
If you change your mind, I’m the first in line. Honey, I’m still free. Take a chance on me.
Patton had never been one for sunbathing, but he was rather inclined towards any activity that involved Roman. The warmth was like a blanket, keeping him cozy and safe (though Logan would warn quite the opposite, going on a lecture about the dangers of overexposure to ultraviolet rays). Patton was with Roman, that was safe enough for him.
“He just wasn’t my style, I guess,” Roman said, continuing on his rant. Patton was trying to listen, but the sun was putting him to sleep. He wondered if Roman would have to wake him with a kiss.
“What is your style?” Patton teased. “A knight in shining armor?”
“Hey, knights have to be strong under that armor. If a buff strong man wants to suplex me then he can go for it.”
“What if he has a frog face?”
Roman thought for a moment. “I can live with that. If he keeps his helmet on.”
Patton laughed, which made Roman laugh, which only made Patton laugh even harder. He moved his hand, letting it brush up against Roman’s. He wanted to grab his hand. He wanted to take his face and kiss him senselessly.
But the timing wasn’t right.
“Carlos sucks.”
Roman shrugged. “He’s fine. I don’t regret dating him or anything. I think it could’ve worked out if things were different.”
“Things?”
“If we were a year younger. If I didn’t know what I know now.”
“And what do you know now?”
Roman moved his hands to his chest- away from Patton- and looked to the sky. He didn’t answer, but Patton could hear him humming under his breath. It was a song he recognized from Into the Woods but he couldn’t think of a title. The two went back to cloud gazing and laid in silence. He closed his eyes, tucked under the warm blanket of sunlight, and tried to fall asleep.
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around
Roman and Patton had been friends for longer than either of them could remember. But what Patton does remember is years of movie marathons and blanket forts with a projector turning the ceiling into the galaxy. He remembers losing a tooth when they were ten and Roman pulling one of his own out in solidarity. He remembers that wasn’t a pretty picture.
He remembers being thirteen. He remembers clearing “Am I Gay quiz” from his search history time and time again. He remembers watching his friends start dating. He remembers thinking of Roman.
Roman was someone Patton always considered fortunate. Roman never had to come out, no one ever expected him to be one thing or another. Patton remembered when they were twelve and Roman told him about how he learned how to kiss in a game of spin the bottle.
Patton remembers feeling jealous. Not of Roman, but of those who had the honor of kissing someone so carefree.
The honor of kissing Roman so carefree.
He remembers being thirteen and laying by Roman’s side as Dumbo played on screen. He wasn’t watching, there wasn’t any point.
“Roman,” he whispered, “when did you know?”
Roman glanced at him in confusion. There wasn’t much light, but his braces shined from the television screen. “How did I know-“ Patton turned away. “Oh.”
“I’m sorry.”
“No, no, hey,” Roman whispered. He grabbed the remote and hit mute, giving them a moment of privacy. “You don’t, really. You just find someone attractive- and sometimes you don’t even know what that means- and you just... figure it out.”
“That sounds so simple but-“
“It’s not,” Roman sighed. “It’s not simple. But you’ll figure it out, okay?” Patton didn’t look convinced. “You have a whole lifetime to figure yourself out.”
Patton grabbed the remote, turning the volume back on and making it just louder than comfortable. “Thanks, Roman.”
If you’ve got no place to go, if you’re feeling down
He can still remember being angry, boiling with rage just after homecoming. He found Roman crying in the school parking lot. There was still an hour left of the dance.
“Roman?” he whispered.
“P- Patton, I- What are you doing here?”
“Roman, I’m here. What happened?”
Roman wiped at his eyes, stepping back into the shadows to try to hide. Nevertheless Patton knew that his cheeks were stained with tears and his eyes were red with pain. “He broke up with me,” he whispered. “At homecoming, of all things!”
“He’s an asshole and he doesn’t deserve you,” Patton said. “Can I hug you?”
Roman gave a weak nod and let himself fall into Patton’s arms. “I’m sorry, you shouldn’t have to see me like that.”
“Roman, please, don’t apologize for feeling.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Hey, hey, listen to me,” Patton said. “My date and I were going to go get ice cream. You should come, I think it’ll help.”
“I’m not going to third wheel on your date.”
“Oh, no, we’re just here as friends.”
“Still-“
“You need friends right now.”
“Okay,” Roman sighed. “Okay.”
Patton smiled and took his hand, walking him through the parking lot towards the only lit car around. “Roman, I want you to meet Logan.”
If you’re all alone, when the pretty birds have flown Honey, I’m still free Take a chance on me
It was March when Roman and Carlos broke up. It was mid-April now. The four of them were tucked up in Patton’s living room, watching the rain outside. Virgil, Patton’s new roommate, was half asleep with his head on Logan’s shoulder.
“Go fish,” he said, barely coherent.
“How are you this tired at three in the afternoon?” Roman teased, grabbing another card.
“Movin’s hard,” he yawned. “Logan, got any aces?”
“The only ace I have is myself,” Logan said. “Go fish.”
Patton grinned. “Logan made a dad joke!”
“Fuck.”
“Didn’t you move in a week ago?”
“Roman, be nice,” Patton said with a frown. “You can’t move in on day one.”
Virgil flashed him a smile and took a card. They continued playing for another hour or so before Virgil actually had fallen asleep. Roman and Logan had carried him off to his bed while Patton loaded up a movie. The storm was coming in harder and no one wanted to leave.
Gonna do my very best and it ain’t no lie
Patton smiled, quick to take Virgil’s place against Logan’s shoulder. He gave a fond sigh, accepting his fate. After knowing him for years, one simply grew accustomed to Patton’s displays of affection. (And, while Logan would never admit it, Patton’s friendship was the perfect way to stave off touch starvation.)
As the movie started, Patton could see the sad glances from Roman. He reached out and grabbed his hand, watching Roman’s eyes light up like the same old galaxy projector they’ve used for years.
If you put me to the test, if you let me try. Take a chance on me. Take a chance on me.
He had Roman exactly where he wanted him.
We can go dancing, we can go walking, as long as we’re together.
It was the first clear day in a week. Roman was stealing Patton from Virgil for all of it. They were hand in hand walking through the park on the way to Roman’s house. It was a perfect day.
Listen to some music, maybe just talking, get to know you better
When Patton and Roman were little they could lay in the same bed and feel all the space of the world between them. They were so small and the mattress was only a continent. But they’re bigger now, adults now, and the two of them on the same float drifting in the middle of Roman’s pool didn’t offer the same space. The sun was still beating down on them, but it felt different now. Their skin was still damp and Roman kept his arm around Patton’s waist to stay afloat. Patton could feel his breath on his skin.
It was hot. And Patton was dying.
He pressed his hand against the side of Roman’s face and moved even closer, smirking as he did so. He waited a moment for Roman to respond, loving the way he turned bright red. Patton held his breath and rolled off of the float, taking Roman down with him. When the resurfaced Roman’s hair was stuck to his face and he was coughing up water.
“You FIEND!” he yelled, splashing Patton with water. “Ugh! It’s in my nose! Fuck, it burns!”
Patton only continued laughing, watching Roman’s every movement. Behind him, things were blurry. They didn’t need to be focused on because Roman was there and he was the most important person alive.
Maybe he just needed to put his glasses on.
He swam over to Roman and grabbed his hands, pressing their foreheads together. “However can I make it up to you?” he teased.
“I-”
“Yes?”
Roman moved away, taking his hands back to himself. “I think we should, uh, dry off. I’m going to take a shower. If you want to too, you can- wait shit-” Patton almost felt bad for how flustered he was. Almost. “I just mean like after I’m done and-” He stepped out of the water, and grabbed a towel, wrapping it around his waist.
“I know what you mean, Roman,” Patton said. “Go dechlorinate yourself.”
“Right,” Roman gave an awkward wave, hanging his swim trunks up on the towel rack and heading inside.
‘Cause you know I’ve got so much that I want to do When I dream I’m alone with you It’s magic
It was later that month when they saw each other again. It was different from their typical meetings, Roman had called him late at night. “Hey,” he whispered. “I’m sorry if I woke you.”
“You didn’t,” Patton lied. He glanced at the clock. Just past one in the morning. He held back a yawn.
“I- It’s stupid, nevermind. I shouldn’t be bothering you right now.”
“Roman. You’re never a bother to me.”
There was a moment of silence, and Patton wondered in Roman had fallen asleep. All he could hear was breathing.
“Roman?”
“Do you, um, want to watch a movie? Like we used to?”
“We both know you’re not calling me at one in the morning just to watch a movie,” he said.
“Oh.”
“I’ll be there in thirty minutes.”
You want me to leave it there, afraid of a love affair
He walked into Roman’s bedroom exactly twenty-seven minutes later. He slipped his shoes off and let himself fall into Roman’s bed. “Welcome back to childhood.”
Roman brushed his hand against Patton’s. “Yeah. Just like childhood.”
Patton wanted to grab his hand. He wanted to take his face and kiss him senselessly.
“So, why did you call me?” He decided to let that choice be Roman’s. “You must’ve wanted to talk about something.”
“I was thinking,” he admitted. “About Carlos.”
Patton felt something settle in his stomach. Something bad.
“And I don’t like thinking about him.”
“Are you upset about the breakup?”
“No,” Roman said. His fingers brushed against Patton’s again. “You know me. I don’t like to regret the past.”
“Do you regret the breakup?”
“No, Patton, stop.” He sighed. “I regret being with him. And I don’t like that.”
“Oh.”
“He was a rebound, I guess. A distraction. He loved me and I loved that. I loved the attention.”
“Sounds like a few old memories of mine.”
“I was too busy waiting for someone to love me back. And now, I’ve been waiting for so long that I don’t know if he’ll ever-”
“Roman.”
“Yeah?”
“Shut up and kiss me.”
But I think you know
Roman moved so slowly and carefully. Patton held his cheeks in his hands and pulled him forward, kissing him like there was nothing else in the world.
That I can’t let go
“There isn’t a world where I don’t love you.”
“Oh,” Roman tiredly murmured. “Does that mean we can kiss again?”
Patton pressed a tender kiss to his cheek. “You need to sleep.”
“No, I don’t.” Roman yawned. “I need you.”
“I’m here for you, Roman.” Another kiss. “Now go to sleep.” And the world went quiet. And the world went black.
Oh you can take your time baby, I'm in no hurry, know I'm gonna get you You don't wanna hurt me, baby don't worry, I ain't gonna let you
They decided to wait a few days before telling everyone. Roman, however, wasted no time stealing every bit of Patton’s affection. “I’m starved,” he’d said. “I’ll die without your kiss, my love.”
“You’re being dramatic,” Patton said, pressing a kiss to Roman’s cheek as he made pancakes. Roman was holding onto his waist, resting his head on his lover’s shoulder. “I love you, Princey.”
Roman hummed. “Love you too, Pattoncake.”
“Awww. Roman that’s adorable.”
“Only because you are.”
Patton squealed, turning around to hide his face in Roman’s chest. He was a blushing mess; he felt like Roman when they were merely flirting.
“Your pancakes are burning, darling.”
“Fuck the pancakes, my face is burning.”
Roman laughed and flipped each of the pancakes quickly before lifting Patton’s chin and kissing him softly. “You’re too easy.”
“Could’ve said the same about you in that pool float.”
Roman kissed him again. “You’re going to be the death of me.”
“That’s how I wanna go,” Patton said. “Now go, sit, I need to make sure these don’t burn.”
Let me tell you now
They decided to tell everyone at the next game night, though it never really came to that. Logan had walked in on them making out in the kitchen, muttering “Fucking finally” before grabbing a soda from the fridge and walking out.
Patton blushed and hid his face in Roman’s chest as they both failed to hide their laughter. “I suppose we should get back to cards.”
Roman hummed, snaking his arms around Patton’s sides and pulling him close. He pressed a kiss to Patton’s lips and let it melt into more as sugar dissolved at his touch. “I have much more fun things in mind than cards.”
“Baaabe.”
“Yes?” Roman asked, kissing him again.
“If you two don’t get your asses over here I will stab you both,” Logan called.
Virgil then continued, shouting, “STOP BEING FUCKING HORNY!”
Roman laughed. “Let’s get back to cards.”
My love is strong enough
They settled into a nice routine. They spent more time together, yes, but also readjusted to spending time apart. Being a couple felt natural, it was hard to imagine living any other way.
Patton was laying in bed, squinting at his phone screen without his glasses. He smiled, half asleep but not willing to end his conversation so quickly. Roman was gushing about some book series or maybe it was a YouTube video, Patton really couldn’t tell. But it didn’t matter, seeing the stream of texts was comforting enough.
Pattoncake: Wait, hold on
Princey: ???
Pattoncake: I love you <3
Pattoncake: Okay, keep going
He smiled at his phone. He knew there had been times in life when he had been hurt. Upset. Injured. But Roman made it feel like nothing bad existed. Roman made everything feel like love.
To last when things get rough It’s magic
“Fuck,” Roman groaned.
“What’s wrong?” Patton asked, leaning against his shoulder.
“Tomorrow got cancelled due to weather.”
“That’s Florida for you.”
He groaned in response. “Florida can suck my dick.”
“But then I’d be out of a job.”
Roman’s face went bright red as Patton laughed, pressing a kiss to his cheek. Patton said, “We can still be gay in the rain.”
“Not with the other gays though.”
“We can be gay together. We can hang out with our friend gays.”
“I guess.”
“There’s other events,” Patton reminded. “Just let the weather pass. I’ll make tomorrow special.”
You say that I waste my time, but I can’t get you off my mind
Roman was out getting groceries while Virgil and Logan were sneaking into his apartment with every rainbow thing they could find. The apartment was covered wall to wall in flags and lights and for some reason a framed picture of the kiss scene from Love, Simon that had not been there before.
“Patton, I don’t intend to sound rude, but,” Logan looked up and down at Patton’s rainbow suit, “is this, perhaps, a bit superfluous?”
Patton adjusted Logan’s lapel pin, a heart in the colors and arrangement of the demisexual pride flag. “I’m dating Roman, if it’s not extra it’s not us.”
Logan rolled his eyes but gave a fond smile. “I will never understand how I am friends with either of you.”
“Yeah, yeah, love you too. Now I need you and Virgil to show how much you love me by leaving, Roman will be back any minute now.”
No, I can’t let go
Roman’s hair was sticking to his face when he came inside. He dropped the grocery bags by the door when he saw everything around him.
‘Cause I love you so
“Patton, what the fuck is this?”
“Surprise,” Patton said. “Or should I say ‘surpride!’”
Roman smiled, picking up the grocery bags and putting them properly on the counter. “You look ridiculous.”
“Do you not like it?”
“Oh, Patton.” Roman pulled him in close, holding his cheeks in his hands. “I adore it.”
Patton leaned into the touch, pressing their lips together. “I adore you.”
“Not as much as I adore you.”
“Hmm, nah,” Patton hummed. “I think I love you the most.”
“Is that a challenge?”
“Maybe,” he said with a smirk. “OH! I have to show you something!” He grabbed Roman’s hand and they ran into the living room. Patton pressed play on his phone and grabbed Roman’s hands.
“You can’t slow dance to Troye Sivan.”
“Maybe not,” he said. “But I want to. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
If you change your mind, I'm the first in line Honey, I'm still free, take a chance on me
Patton pressed his head against Roman’s chest.
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around If you've got no place to go when you're feeling down
“We should stay like this forever.”
“What? Dancing?” Roman asked. “People have died from that.”
“No, not dancing,” Patton said. “I mean...”
If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown Honey, I'm still free, take a chance on me
“Together. Forever.”
Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie If you put me to the test, if you let me try
“I agree completely, my love.”
Honey, I'm still free, take a chance on me

one summer night... (prompt from @jessx2231: sitting on the porch at night) | Summer Soft Series on AO3
.........
Some hellbeast of a bug buzzes his ear and he flails wildly, both desperate to not have it touch his face and not actually make contact with whatever the hell that was. He doesn’t mind walking home from the store, in fact relishes the solitude of it, but these flying monstrosities inhabiting this town can fuck right off.
“Did you just have a stroke?”
“Oh jesus fuck!”
David feels a year of his life vanish into thin air, both from fright and sheer embarrassment as that disembodied voice takes form in a very amused Patrick Brewer sitting on Ray’s front porch.
“Sorry David, didn’t mean to startle you.”
Instead of responding, David holds his finger up as he takes a few steadying breaths, eyes narrowing as Patrick’s smile just grows wider. Why does he have to have a smile like that? And why are David’s lips nudging up to smile back? Enough of that.
“Does Ray know you’re loitering out here?”
“He does. But, point of fact, I’m not loitering. I live here.”
Wait, what? He’s known this man for weeks now and he’s just finding out that he lives with Ray?
“Really?”
“Yeah, I rent a room upstairs. Sorry, I just assume that everyone knows everything about everyone in this town, so I never mentioned it.”
“Hmm, okay, just...processing this new information over here.”
Patrick chuckles in that warm, rumbly way that he does and David’s rogue stomach does a little churn. He’s not sure what to do about his body’s growing awareness of this little business man that’s dropped into his life, so he does what he’s been doing for the past week and ignores it.
“While you’re processing, I’m gonna go grab a beer. Wanna join me for a drink?”
He doesn’t hold back the minor cringe at the word “beer”, which Patrick sees and probably misinterprets, so he quickly speaks before the wrong idea can be formed.
“Do you have any wine?”
Patrick’s smile is back immediately and he nods as he stands and heads inside, leaving David standing there completely unsure of what he’s doing. He can’t help his anxiety from bubbling up question after question into the front of his brain. What is this? What does this mean? Does it mean anything? Of course it doesn’t. This is Patrick. He’s not interested in David like that. Why would he be?
“”Hey, can you…?
David’s pulled from his anxiety spiral at the sound of Patrick’s voice to find him on the other side of the screen door, hands full with their drinks.
“Oh, yeah, let me,” David stutters, quickly pulling the door open so Patrick can step back outside.
“I figured you’d want something chilled, so I went with Chardonnay. I hope that’s okay?”
“It’ll do.”
Honestly, his standards where alcohol is concerned has sunk so low since living here that he’ll drink just about anything, except Mutt’s moonshine. That’s a mistake you only make once.
Patrick returns to his spot on the stair and David contemplates what to do. He could stand here, awkwardly, or risk doing permanent damage to his white denim. He’s not sure which is worse. So he has no real choice to throw caution to the wind and sits.
It’s just past dusk and the evening around them is growing darker, Ray’s porch light and the lights from the motel down the block illuminating the vast nothingness around them. It’s oddly calming in a way. He can hear Patrick’s fingernail picking at the label on his beer, making him realize just how close they’re actually sitting.
“I feel pretty stupid that I didn’t know you were living here until now,” he admits.
“Eh, I hadn’t supplied the information either, so I guess it’s on both of us.”
Oh...wait.
“So, when you offered up your place for me to stay during the whole...lice debacle,” he pauses, allowing the full body shudder to pass before continuing. “You were offering up what, Ray’s couch, or...your…?”
The chuckle Patrick releases gets caught in his throat a little and it comes out more like a cough and when David looks over at him, he’s pretty sure there’s a little redness coloring those pale cheeks.
“I guess I hadn’t really thought that through.”
Hmm… Interesting. Or is it? David’s history of turning nothing into something is longer than a CVS receipt, so he’s mentally stopping that train of thought. Remembering his wine, he takes a long sip, cringes, and goes back in for another. It’s bad, but it’s cold and he likes the company.
“Luckily, that tragic chapter of our lives is over and we hopefully will never have to think about it again.”
“Cheers to that.”
Patrick tilts the neck of his beer towards him and David lifts his wine, smiling at the soft clink of glass against glass.
“So, Patrick, what else is there to know about you that I’ve neglected to learn?”
Patrick shrugs, but David spies his lips curving up a bit behind the mouth of his beer bottle, and yeah, that sparks some real curiosity about this man he’s obviously not given enough attention to.
“Nothing much, really. I’m just, honestly, really happy to be working with you at the store. I’m enjoying the challenge…”
“I’m a challenge?” David interrupts, his incredulous expression marred by his inability to fully wipe away his smile.
“The store is a challenge, David. You’re…”
He falls quiet and David arches an eyebrow, lifting his free hand to motion for Patrick to continue.
“I don’t know. You’re...you. I’ve never met anyone like you before, and I...I like that, I guess? I never know what you’re gonna say or do next, so yeah, maybe you’re a bit of a challenge, too. But a good one.”
David’s a bit dumbstruck. He’s never had someone say those things to him in a way that wasn’t an admonishment before. It’s an unsteadying feeling.
“I’m glad to have made an impression,” he says quietly, quick to hide his face behind his wine glass and his feelings under another long sip that ends up draining his glass.
Patrick notices, because of course he does. He’s rather attentive.
“Want another glass?” he asks, and David’s thrown off again by Patrick’s open expression of hopefulness. But he’s going to head home. Another glass will lower inhibitions and the wall he’s constructed around his heart to stop himself from getting hurt by nice guys like this. Patrick won’t mean to hurt him when it happens, so it’s best to keep things professional.
“Thanks, but I’m good.” Standing quickly, he waits for Patrick to stand with him, but he doesn’t. He just sits there, his broad shoulder propped against the side of the porch rail, smiling up at him in that genuine way that he’s mastered. He holds out his hand and for a second David freezes, unsure as to what he’s doing, but thankfully, quickly registers he’s offering to take David’s wine glass. Their fingers brush a little and the tiny hairs on David’s neck prickle his skin, but he’ll just pretend that it's from the warm summer breeze that’s surrounded them like a blanket.
It’s gotten a tad bit too cozy on this porch.
David’s a few steps away when he hears Patrick call out to him.
“Goodnight David.”
Smiling softly, he wiggles his fingers in a small wave before turning back towards the motel.
“Night Patrick.”
….....
The scratch of Patrick’s calloused thumb against the side of his neck feels so good that he can feel his body leaning in closer, pressing Patrick’s back harder against the porch rail as his moan of appreciation vibrates against their joined lips. Patrick’s free hand anchored in David’s back pocket clenches and their kiss goes molten, both of them delving deeper as if their mouths are performing all the things their bodies want, but aren’t currently able. The porch light is out, casting them in blissful darkness, masking roaming hands and stubble chafed skin, but David’s more than a little desperate to find some real privacy.
“When’s Ray getting home?” he pants into Patrick’s mouth, not giving him a chance to respond as he captures his lips again for another breathless kiss. He tastes of beer and pretzels from their short excursion to The Wobbly Elm, excusing themselves after only twenty minutes to go back out to the Rose Family car and fog up the windows, a move they will both be teased about forever by Stevie and Alexis who found them an hour later half dressed and dazed.
“Soon,” Patrick manages to whimper, “very soon.”
David has half a mind to drag Patrick inside and up to his room, but they’re both too worked up and he can’t emotionally handle Ray walking in on them, which he’ll inevitably do. It’s happened already.
Twice.
So, he does the last thing he wants to do. Pulling his mouth free, he angles his head enough to let his forehead fall to meet Patrick’s, indulging himself for a moment in the exhilaration of hearing Patrick’s breath heaving just as hard as his own. God, it’s intoxicating being wanted.
“You wanna sit for a while?” Patrick eventually asks and David answers with a tiny nod, made a bit awkward with their foreheads still pressed together. The laugh they share helps release a bit of the adrenaline and electricity, but David feels it spark anew when Patrick drags his hand into his lap as soon as they’ve sat down on the step.
“Do you have plans Sunday night?”
“Who would I have plans with except you?”
“Stevie?”
“We don’t make plans.”
“Right,” Patrick says with a smile, “well, I do, so can you add an overnight date with me to your very busy schedule?”
David’s smile widens at Patrick’s ears going pink, his inability to hide his blush even when he’s being assertive one of his most adorable qualities.
“Okay, but I can’t do Stevie’s again. Now that I know that she’s still sleeping with Jake, it’s all a little too...complicated.”
“Agreed. Some neutral ground would be ideal. Maybe one of the nicer hotels in Elmdale?”
David likes how that sounds. Leaning in, he runs the tip of his nose against Patrick’s temple so he can whisper softly into his ear.
“Somewhere with room service.”
“And late checkout,” Patrick agrees as he turns his head, quickly capturing David’s lips in a sneaky kiss.
It’s only minutes later when Ray finds them, once again caught up, with David’s hand trapped behind Patrick’s head and the porch rail, mouths kiss bruised and fingers grazing skin beneath hems and collars. By some miracle, Ray’s on the phone and greets them with just a knowing smile and a wave, quickly disappearing inside, but leaving the inner door open and efficiently, and undoubtedly unintentionally, ending their private moment.
Since they’re so close, Patrick walks him back to the motel, kissing him again against the door before mumbling “Goodnight David” against his cheek.
David’s “Night Patrick” is texted to him moments later, prompting Patrick to look back at him from down the street and blow him an exaggerated kiss.
…....
The condensation from Patrick’s beer drips down onto David’s wrist and it makes him shiver, the cold water a welcome contrast to his overheated skin. It’s a hot night, still in the high eighties past 8 o’clock and humid, making his thin t-shirt stick to the sweat building at the small of his back and between his pecs.
Stevie’s laugh precedes her as she pushes out onto their back porch, one hand clasping an overfull glass of red and the other holding the door open for Twyla following behind her. Twyla’s cut her hair so the warm summer breeze catches the now shoulder length strands as she smiles and sits cross legged against the porch rail, her sunny disposition a perfect match to the warmth radiating deep in David’s chest.
“Is it almost ready?” Patrick asks, his words making his chest rumble and David’s body vibrate from how close they’re plastered together on their loveseat style lounger. As they’ve settled into their new home, they’ve created these little special places, like the oversized soaker tub and the breakfast nook that faces the morning sun. Knowing they didn’t need to make room for potential future kids allowed them to build their home around their family of two and it’s honestly more than David could have ever dreamed up.
“Needs another half hour or so,” Twyla responds, before launching into a long story about all the different models of ice cream maker she tried out before finding the perfect one to give David and Patrick as a wedding present. Of course, because she’s a millionaire, she chose the most expensive home model, which David has thanked her for countless times.
“It’s definitely our most used wedding present,” he reminds her, which makes her smile.
“What about mine?” Stevie asks, each syllable dripping with her signature mix of boredom and sarcasm.
“You didn’t get us anything,” Patrick responds before David even has a chance.
“Incorrect. Need I remind you that it was only due to my meddling that the two of you even got together? And it was my apartment where you, you know,” she lets her words trail off as she nods pointedly. “And it was me who talked sense into you, David, when you wanted to drag Patrick to New York and leave me all alone.”
“Ah, yes, how could we forget. Thank you, Stevie, for your completely selfless gift of...um…”
“Friendship, David, the word you are looking for is friendship,” Stevie supplies, entirely too amused with herself.
As she takes a few large gulps of her wine, David tries to think of a witty response. But Patrick turns his head in that moment and presses a soft kiss into David’s hair and his brain turns to absolute mush. So, Stevie wins this round, but he’s really okay with it.
They do, eventually, eat some of Twyla’s ice cream, a delicious concoction of chocolate, pistachio and marshmallow swirl. Considering her disastrous attempts at edible smoothie recipes, she’s surprisingly good with her ice cream flavors. As the night goes on, Stevie gets more than a little tipsy, but so does David, and he laughs at his own slurred speech after saying goodbye from his now permanent spot on the loveseat.
“It’s a good thing Twyla stayed sober,” Patrick says from the patio door, the sound of his flip flops hitting the wood making David smile as he knows that means he’s coming back to sit with him again. Leaning his head back against the cushion, he focuses on the string of edison bulbs they have framing the overhang, made brighter now that Patrick has turned off the porch light.
“We should tell them to get an Uber next time. Twyla is a really entertaining drunk.”
Patrick’s warm body joins David’s on their loveseat and David lets out a happy grumble.
“So are you.”
Patrick’s voice is soft and rumbly, his mouth hot against David’s temple as he slowly drops kisses on a path towards David’s mouth.
“I’m not drunk,” David protests, even though he knows he kind of is, but he also knows how much his husband loves it when he’s a little ornery.
“Mmhmm…”
Patrick’s response is mumbled against David’s mouth, his hands greedily dragging David towards him by the back of his neck. David’s more than a little tipsy and he goes with it, welcoming the heady rush of desire mixing with the languid pull of the alcohol, making everything feel hazy and oh so good.
He’s barely maneuvered himself onto Patrick’s lap before his sweaty shirt is being dragged over his head and all the privacy they finally have is taken full advantage of.
Later, skin still pink from their shared shower and eyes closing against his cool pillowcase, David searches for Patrick’s hand between them on the mattress. It’s only when he has those familiar fingers, calloused from his guitar string, wrapped tight in his does he let himself fully drift off to sleep.
“Goodnight David,” he faintly registers hearing Patrick whisper.
“Night Patrick” he replies, or at least he thinks he does, but it could all just be a really amazing dream.

Something Good | knj
Tumblr media
summary- you’d known from the moment you’d laid eyes on him, Namjoon was good.
rating- e for everyone? lol
word count-  3395
pairing- namjoon x reader
genre- fluff
Warnings- lots of emotions, possibly kinda angsty?
a/n: possibility of a smutty part 2 if people want it?
Namjoon-
Namjoon was tired. He loved his life, he really did. He loved his career, he loved Army, he loved his bandmates. He could not have asked for anything better. But today, Namjoon was tired. He was worn out, and he just wanted to drift into the crowd unseen long enough to get his coffee and go back to his hotel room. He was dressed casually, jeans and a dark blue cotton t-shirt paired with a black baseball cap and a gray jacket, hood up. He wore a mask across his face, but with how smoggy it was in the city, that didn’t make him stand out.
He found a small coffee shop that looked fairly empty and ducked inside, quietly giving his order to the first employee, an older woman with a kind smile who nodded, writing “John” on his cup when he said Joon but he didn’t mind. His eyes flicked to the young woman who began mixing his drink, her pretty hair bouncing with her movements, languid and quick. She hummed quietly to herself, so quietly he couldn’t make out the song, but her sunny disposition made his mouth curve up into a smile.
“For John?” she smiled brightly at him, and he nodded, handing her the money and taking his change.
“Thank you.” he responded kindly, reaching out to take the drink.
Her eyes widened, mouth falling agape as she looked up to hand Namjoon his drink, their fingers brushing slightly as she handed it off. Namjoon felt a spark run clear down to his toes, and he met her gaze with similar surprise.
“Kim Namjoon?”
Y/N-
“Kim Namjoon?” you breathed, recognizing that voice anywhere.
Your skin was electrified where it touched his, and your gaze shot up and locked with his. Kim Namjoon, leader of BTS was standing right in front of you. The man who’d taken control of your every unconscious moment, drifting through your dreams like he owned them. The man you’d almost watched grow up on any screen you could get your hands on. You knew BTS had a concert in the city in a few days, but it never crossed your mind that he would appear in the small coffee shop you wasted your days in, barely making enough to cover your rent.
“Please don’t scream.” he begged, not in a conceited way, more desperate, exhausted.
“I won’t.” you promised.
“Thank you.” he whispered in a sigh of relief.
Namjoon flashed you a smile, which you only caught by the crinkle in his eyes. He turned to walk away and you stood there, frozen in place until your heart kicked into overdrive. This was your one chance. You hopped over the counter and dashed after him, skidding to a stop in front of the door just as he was about to open it.
“I’m sorry. I know you’re probably tired of fans approaching you, and I swear I’m not insane. I’ve been your fan for a while, but I’m not going to pretend I really know who you are. I would like to, though. I might not know everything about you but after watching you from the sidelines, I can tell there’s something different about you. You’re good. I could really use some good in my life.”
Namjoon’s eyes met yours but he didn’t speak, his gaze just searched yours. For what, you didn’t know.
“You don’t have to decide right now. Look, let me put my number in your phone, so you have it. You can decide if you want to text me or not. I won’t be offended if I don’t hear from you. But I think I could be something good for you too.” you offered, heart pounding with adrenaline.
Seconds passed before Namjoon nodded, something about the spark in your eye drawing him in and begging him to trust you. He dug in his pocket and pulled out his phone. You gently took it from his grasp and input your contact information, hitting save. You looked up at him as you handed it back. He looked at the screen momentarily.
“Nice to meet you, Y/N. Have a good day.” he said softly before exiting the shop and disappearing into the crowd.
When your shift ended two hours later, you were still in shock. Namjoon. Kim Namjoon had been in your coffee shop, had touched your skin. You shivered at the memory, a smile gracing your lips. You began walking home, ready to crash into your small twin bed inside your shared apartment. The sun began to set just as you crossed over to the shadier area of town, the only place you could afford to reside. You looked at your phone to check the time, and noticed a text from an unsaved number.
Namjoon [8:37PM] Hey, Y/N. It’s Namjoon.
Your heart thundered in your chest. He texted you. This had to be a joke.
You [8:39PM] Hey! I didn’t think you’d actually text me. How are you?
Namjoon [8:42PM] Honestly, I didn’t either. But you were so honest and open I figured it couldn’t hurt.
Namjoon [8:43PM] I’m okay, just tired. It’s been a long day.
You [8:44PM] I’m glad you did. I’m pretty great now. What made it a long day?
Namjoon stared at your message, unsure of if he should be truthful in his sour mood or pretend everything was fine. You’d only just met anyway. But something about you, it just made him feel like you’d get it. That you’d understand. He decided it would be okay, and he needed to let it out.
Namjoon [8:47PM] We had dance practice today for our upcoming show and I kept messing up and making everyone start over. I just couldn’t focus.
You [8:50PM] Are you working yourself too hard? Maybe you need to take a break.
Namjoon [8:53PM I don’t have time to take a break. Our show is in two days and we have to be ready.
Your heart ached for him. He had the weight of the world on his shoulders and he couldn’t spare a few minutes to prioritize his health?
You [8:55PM] Have you ever tried meditation or anything?
Namjoon [8:56PM] No…
You [8:59PM] Okay, hear me out. There’s this app I use when I’m stressed. It helps you meditate and has scenes with nature sounds to help you calm down. It’s even got a deep breathing feature to help you breathe. I listen to the sound of the rain when I just need to disconnect from the world and it always puts me at ease. You might try it.
Namjoon [9:00PM] What’s it called?
You [9:00PM] Calm. :)
You didn’t hear from Namjoon for a good twenty minutes, and you were starting to wonder if you’d said something wrong. You sighed, setting your phone down and curling into the blankets, disappointment crawling its way into your heart uninvited. That was, until your phone started ringing and Namjoon’s name flashed across your screen. Your heart lept into your throat and you slid the answer key across the screen.
“Hello?” you tried to make your voice even.
“Hey. Sorry. I hope it’s okay that I called. I didn’t feel like typing.” he chuckled, seeming in a much better mood.
“No that’s fine!” you assured him.
“I love this app. Thank you for recommending it.” he praised.
“Oh, Namjoon, haven’t you heard women are always right?” you giggled.
“So I’m learning. Twice now you’ve been right.” his deep voice held a smile you could imagine if you closed your eyes.
“So you feel better? More relaxed?” you verified, turning to lay on your back and close your eyes while you relished in the sound of his voice.
“Much better. Thank you.” he said sincerely.
“Next step is a bubble bath and a face mask.” you teased.
“Ah, I think I’m okay for now.” he laughed, letting the warm happy feeling settle in his chest at the sound of your voice. Namjoon thought you had a beautiful voice. It fit you. Soft, gentle, but with a little mystery and a hint of mischief.
“I’ll convince you one day. It’ll do wonders for your skin.” you explained.
“Are you saying I have bad skin?” he scoffed playfully.
“Stop fishing for compliments.” you chastised. “You know you look great.”
Namjoon’s deep laughter floated through your ears like your favorite song. You giggled to yourself, his laughter was contagious.
“It’s weird how comfortable I am with you already.” Namjoon admitted suddenly, “I feel like I’ve known you forever and we met today.”
“I know exactly what you mean.” you agreed easily, buds of hope blooming in your stomach.
Tumblr media
In the long months that followed, Namjoon visited you every time he was near. He texted you or called you every day that you were apart. He couldn’t always talk for long, but a simple “good morning, have a good day” if that was all he could manage. There was something about the spark in your eye that drew Namjoon in, and he wanted to make sure you knew he was thinking of you. He wanted to keep you.
The sun had long gone to sleep by the time Namjoon and his friends finished their dance practice and headed back to their hotel for the night. The dark skies had opened up and began to let the rain trickle down, thudding against the window in a soothing rhythm. Namjoon immediately thought of you and your love of the rain. You’d told him on more than one occasion that the sound of the rain coming down was one of the most calming sounds you’d ever heard.
“You coming?” Tae asked, waiting by the door with one of the umbrellas as the group left the vehicle for the safety of the hotel.
“I’ll catch up with you guys.” Joon smiled.
Tae shrugged and jogged off.
Joon waited until Tae’s form disappeared into the large rotating door to turn his attention to his phone, pressing the facetime button on your name. When your face popped up on his screen, surrounded by a thick comforter, he worried he’d woken you up.
“Joonie!” your smile lit up like the sun and Namjoon felt something warm fill his chest.
“Y/N.” he greeted pleasantly.
“What’s up Joon?” you asked, the smile not leaving your lips.
“It’s raining here, and I thought maybe you’d like to listen?” he asked quietly, suddenly unsure of the gesture.
“Omg Joon! That’s so sweet! I love the rain, almost as much as I love you!” you giggled, and though Joon knew you didn’t mean it like that, his chest stirred.
Joon turned his camera around to show you the darkened night sky and the rain that fell rhythmically on the rooftop of the car, the windows, racing down.
“I want to see your face, Joon.” you whined a bit.
He turned the front camera back on and smiled at you. Your face lit up and you just watched him watch the rain, eyes flickering back to you every once in a while.
“Hmmm… this is so soothing.” you hummed quietly, making sure your voice didn’t overpower the rain.
“I think of you every time it rains.” he admits, barely above a whisper.
You were quiet for a moment, and Namjoon was almost afraid to look at the screen before he heard “I miss you, Joon.”
“I miss you too. We’ll be in town in the next month or two though.” he soothed you, noting the way your eyes filled with tears but they didn’t spill over.
“But I want my best friend here now.” you sighed. “It’s colder when you’re not here.”
“I know what you mean.” Namjoon agreed, an involuntary shiver washing through him as he turned the heat up in the car.
“Tell me what you did today.” you smiled, Namjoon could tell you were getting tired.
He spoke gently, voice low in an attempt to lull you to sleep. He knew you pushed yourself too hard, stayed up too late. You worked multiple jobs to keep yourself afloat and assist your family in any way you could, and Namjoon had offered on many occasions to help you out financially, but you had refused, stating that he was your friend, not your ATM.
Your stubborn personality was one of the most infuriating things about you, and also one of Namjoon’s favorites. When you’d set your mind to something, there was no going back. You never backed down when you were passionate about something, and you were passionate about Namjoon. Too many times you’d watched him get close to people who only wanted him for his fame or his money. He acted like it didn’t hurt but you knew. Each time he was betrayed it was like a piece of him chipped away. He smiled though. He never stopped smiling.
Sometimes Namjoon felt like BTS and you were the only people in the whole world he could trust, aside from his family.
“... then Jin tripped over Tae and busted his ass and we couldn’t stop laughing.” Namjoon recounted dance practice and watched your sleepy smile spread over your face. “We decided to call it quits for the day and here we are.” he finished.
“Mmm.. I’m glad you had a good day.” you mumbled from your half-conscious state.
“Thank you, Y/N. You should really get some sleep.” Namjoon told you.
“You’re right… I can’t keep my eyes open. Thank you for calling me, Joonie. I love you.” you spoke slowly, eyes threatening to drift shut.
“I love you too, Y/N. Sweet dreams.” Namjoon said, but his words fell on deaf ears as your eyes had already closed.
Namjoon knew he should’ve ended the call, but his eyes watched your peaceful expression, a hint of a smile lingering on your lips. He watched you take deep, even breaths. He studied the way your eyelashes fluttered when you stirred. Namjoon’s chest tightened as he gazed upon your features. That was the first night Namjoon came to the realization that he was in love with you.
Tumblr media
Of course, you’d known you were in love with Namjoon much sooner than the dense man had realized his own feelings. You never showed it though. You didn’t want your feelings to make things weird, as Namjoon’s presence in your life was the only thing keeping you centered. Namjoon was where you went when you were angry, when you were scared, when you felt alone. He was your anchor in a world that tried to sweep you away into an empty abyss. He was your home.
Namjoon was the only person in the world who seemed to understand you completely. You’d never really felt like you belonged anywhere, constantly yearning for a place that felt safe. With Namjoon, you belonged. You were safe. Protected. You were valued and revered and you could let your walls down and melt into your best friend’s embrace, knowing he’d always catch you. You knew there were millions of girls who wanted his heart, who were in love with the idea of him. You knew who he really was though.
You were the one who stayed up talking him through his dark moments. You were the one who held him and stroked his hair when he fell apart. You were the one who listened without judgement, who understood him just as much as he understood you. You were the one who never used him, never left him, never let him feel abandoned. You were the one who waited up, pretending you couldn’t sleep just to hear his voice for a few fleeting moments as his day wound down into the quiet night. Everything Namjoon gave to you, you returned with vigor.
That’s why, when his plane landed in your city, you were the first thought on his mind. You were the one he wanted to run to. You were the one he wanted to wrap up in his arms. And that is exactly what he did as he arrived at your apartment, dressed to blend in, knuckles rapping at the door excitedly. You flung the door open, jumping into his embrace as he pulled you tight against him and shut the door behind your bodies. You breathed in his scent, your senses flooded with Namjoon. You could finally breathe again.
You felt your body go pliant in his grasp. His strong arms held you close, his breath tickled your ear. His heart beat just as fast as your pounding one. Your best friend was finally home. Well, he didn’t live with you but in your presence was the place Namjoon felt the most himself, so he might as well have been home. Namjoon was completely overwhelmed with emotion at finally being by your side again. He didn’t know what came over him. He didn’t have time to use rational judgement, didn’t have time to think. Everything in his being needed this. He needed you.
As soon as your feet had touched the ground, before you could release yourself from Namjoon’s grasp, his lips found yours. In that moment, time stopped. Your heart stopped beating for a moment, then immediately began hammering in your chest. You kissed him back after a moment of letting the situation sink it, everything inside of you seeming to reach for him. You wound your fingers in the hair at the nape of his neck and his arms tightened around you, pressing your body against his as his lips worked against yours.
Had it been minutes? Had it been hours? You weren’t sure. Time wasn’t real when you were in Namjoon’s arms. All you knew is it was far too soon for your liking when he pulled away to catch his breath, his forehead resting against yours. His chest rose and fell rapidly and his eyes met yours. You shivered at the intensity, the adoration in his gaze.
“I’m in love with you.” left his lips before he could even register what he was saying.
Even though he’d only realized this fact a few months prior, Namjoon had been in love with you the better part of a year. It really hadn’t taken long for you to wrap yourself around his heart so completely that he couldn’t possibly want anyone else. He’d been waiting ever since that rainy night in the car to come home to you, to wrap you up in his arms, to risk it all and tell you exactly what you’d meant to him.
“I had a whole speech planned. It was going to be much more romantic. But I can’t think right now. All I know is I’m completely in love with you, and I really hope you feel the same way or this is going to get really awkward-” he began.
“I love you too. I’m in love with you, Joonie. I’ve been in love with you. You’re everything.” you sighed contentedly, leaning your head against his toned chest, listening to his heart beat like a hummingbird’s.
His fingers tenderly snaked their way under your chin, tilting your face up to meet his gaze. His lips found yours once more. This kiss was slower, more intimate. This kiss held everything the two of you couldn’t express with words. All the heartache while you waited for him alone. All the longing you’d felt, thousands of miles apart. This kiss was a thank you for your continued friendship, a promise of so much more to come, a whisper of love drifting between your connected lips. It was everything you’d both been holding back for almost a year.
Your whole body trembled and tears forced their way down your cheeks against your will, and Namjoon moved his lips to your cheeks, kissing them away. He knew. He understood. He felt it too. He led you to the couch, consuming you in his embrace, letting you be at ease for the first time in months. Namjoon finally let out the breath he’d been holding since, well he wasn’t sure how long. It felt like he was breathing for the very first time.
“Please say you’ll be mine.” he whispered, almost inaudibly, as he trailed kisses along your ear.
“I’ve always been yours, Joon.” you whispered back.
And it felt like the beginning of something good.

We need to talk was never a nice message to receive out of the blue, especially late at night. And when it was received from a friend that you were semi-regularly sleeping with, it was arguably worse.
    No. Definitely worse.
what’s up? you replied to Roger, your palms already starting to sweat.
    can I come over?
can u tell me what this is about first?
    something to do with us
Your palms were certainly sweating now. You were unsure how to reply, and, while you hesitated, you received another message.
me and brian were arguing about something
    Well, that wasn’t exactly news.
do u need to talk about it? you replied. what’s it got to do with me?
can I just come over please?
    You sighed. yeah ok
    Time to wallow in anxiety.
Roger was at your door twenty minutes later. You could tell he’d just come straight from work at the pub.
“It’s late, so don’t be too loud,” you said as you let him in. “Lucy’s asleep. And I should’ve been in bed half an hour ago.”
“We both know you weren’t going to be in bed half an hour ago,” Roger said. He raked his fingers through his hair. He still needed a haircut. You wondered idly if he’d ever get around to getting one, or if he’d just let it grow until he looked like some seventies rockstar. “But this won’t take long, anyway.”
You crossed your arms. “Well, is this a sit-down sort of conversation?” you asked, shifting from foot to foot. You hoped Roger couldn’t tell how nervous you were. There was no way to predict what he was about to say. Was he suddenly in love with you? Was he suddenly in love with someone else? Did someone die?
“No,” Roger said. “I’m too pissed off to sit down.”
“What did I do?” you said. You tried not to be immediately defensive, but you could hear the sharpness in your tone.
Roger shook his head. “No, nothing. You didn’t do anything. I’m pissed at Brian.”
“Oh.” You uncrossed your arms. “So why are you here? Just to vent?”
“No,” Roger said. “Can you just let me explain?”
    “I’m all ears.”
“Brian made some…” Roger’s lip curled. “…joke about how I’m not ‘manly’, or whatever.”
You took a moment to process this. “That’s what this is about?”
“Yeah,’ Roger said, tetchy. “He made a joke about it. Brian. The least manly guy on the planet. And then Fred and Deaks laughed at it. It’s fucking stupid. Freddie literally wears eyeliner sometimes.”
“You can be manly and wear eyeliner,” you said.
“You can be,” Roger said. “But Freddie isn’t. Not most of the time. He’s a feminine guy. Which is fine, obviously. But what I’m pissed about is that Brian’s waltzing around with his skinny legs and fluttering eyelashes calling me ‘not manly’.”
You snorted a laugh. “Fluttering eyelashes?”
“Oh, don’t laugh at me, I know you’ve seen it, that’s not a weird thing to observe about him.”
“You’ve got skinny legs too, though, Rog,” you said.
“These?” Roger marched over to the wall and stuck one of his legs into the air – not very far, he was hideously inflexible – and propped it against the wall. “These legs are thick. With two Cs.”
“Get your foot off the wall,” you said, and Roger let his foot drop. “And they are not thick. They’re twigs.”
    “Brian’s are twiggier.”
“Sure, okay,” you said with a shrug. “What’s your point?”
“My point is, I am not unmanly. I am manly as fuck.” Roger gestured to himself, as if that was supposed to support his argument. “And Brian and I started arguing about it, and started listing everything that makes someone manly, and long story short, you need to do up me the arse.”
You opened your mouth, then closed it again, then opened it for a second time. “I’m sorry?”
Roger crossed his arms resolutely. “We need to go shopping and buy you a strap-on so you can fuck me. Just really go to town.”
“How on Earth,” you said, “did you come to this conclusion?”
“It takes the fuckin’…” Roger searched for the right word. “The fuckin’ manliest of men to get railed, and particularly if you’re a straight guy, like me, getting railed by a woman. Because I’ve heard that that isn’t easy. There’s a lot of– of preparation involved, and stuff. So. If you fuck me, then I can tell Brian that I’m manlier than him. And I know you still haven’t fucked him yet, because he would’ve brought it up when we were arguing. Am I wrong?”
You needed a strong drink. “You’re… not wrong about me and Brian not… doing that yet, no,” you conceded. “But I am… struggling to follow.”
“What’s there not to follow?” Roger said. “So when are you free? This weekend? We can go shopping. Brian mentioned once you two had been to a sex shop just out of town, so it’s nearby. We can get lunch or something afterwards.”
“Brian mentioned…” You held up your hands like stop signs. “Wait, wait. Can we just hold up for a second?”
    “What?”
You stared at Roger, slightly disbelieving. He stared at you, disbelieving your disbelief. You took a beat, and then spoke. “First of all…” You immediately aborted, shaking your head. “You know what? I’m not even going to ask you to further explain the reasoning behind this. I don’t understand, and, frankly, I don’t know if it’s worth my time trying to understand.”
    “I already explained–”
You shushed him. “I’m still talking.” You placed your hands firmly on your hips. “So, new ‘first of all’: do I get a say in this? Did you consider that perhaps I wouldn’t be at all interested in spending money on a strap-on and fucking you?”
Roger just stared at you, blank-faced.
You sighed, your hands dropping. “Yeah, okay, fine, you got me there, of course I’d want to do that,” you muttered in defeat. You shook your head. “Rog, do you even actually understand the – mechanics behind all of it? Have you thought about the fact that you may not like it?”
“It’ll be fine,” Roger said. “We’ve managed everything else we’ve done so far just fine, haven’t we? If I don’t like it, I’ll just say so. But don’t tell Brian I didn’t like it.”
“When the hell would that come up in conversation?”
“Oh, he’ll want to know,” Roger said seriously.
“Then he can ask you,” you said. “I don’t want to get involved in this stupid dick measuring.”
Roger’s eyes went wide, a lightbulb springing to life. “Good thinking,” he said. “Dick measuring.”
    “What?”
Roger’s face fell. “Actually, no, I’m pretty sure his dick’s bigger than mine,” he muttered in thought. He cocked his head to one side. “But is my dick prettier than his?”
    He looked to you.
“I’m not even going to try answering that,” you said, deadpanned.
Roger waved a hand. “Whatever. We can decide for ourselves next time we have a threesome.”
You were a little taken aback by the nonchalance of the comment, as if having threesomes was now just a casual Friday night, which it certainly wasn’t. Your first threesome (closely followed by your second, a few days later), had been a few weeks ago now. You’d been talking about getting together again soon, but it was difficult to coordinate such a thing, and, as much fun as it was, it wasn’t high on your priority list. But apparently, according to Roger, it was right around the corner. You couldn’t help but wonder what sort of conversations he and Brian had been having about it behind your back.
You rolled your eyes, heaving a sigh. “Men.” You started shooing Roger out the door. “Yes, we’ll go shopping on the weekend. Please actually do some research into anal sex, though, okay?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Roger said, and you knew that there was no way he’d remember to do that.
You opened the front door, and he hovered. “So when do you wanna… do it?” he said, giving you a cheeky smile that he knew you loved.
You scowled, trying to smother your own smile, and his smile widened. He could tell. You were terrible at hiding.
“We’ll figure it out later,” you said. “Can you get out of my house now? I want to sleep.”
“Can it be soon, though? I want to rub it in Brian’s face as soon as possible.”
“Fine,” you said. “Next week, whatever. Just text me.”
“Yes,” Roger hissed in victory. “Thank you! Don’t tell Brian!”
“Fine, whatever, goodbye,” you said, and he finally left, strutting away.
-
The weekend shopping trip didn’t pan out. You were asked to head into work last-minute, so instead, after work, Roger came over, and the two of you browsed for options online. You were a little wary that Roger’s eagerness seemed to stem not from actually wanting to be fucked, but wanting to be able to brag about being fucked, but you went along with it. You found a strap-on that seemed fairly basic – you’d never done this before either, so you didn’t want anything overly complicated – relatively cheap, and the reviews seemed promising.
You and Roger split the payment. Then, while you had him there, you looked up instructional information on anal sex, and forced him to read it. Although, to be fair, you were reading to learn as well. You could see it slowly starting to dawn on Roger the fact that, yes, there would be a large object going into his asshole, and that it would take some work to get it in there. He chewed on his lip.
You hoped he wasn’t going to back out. If he did, then he did, and that was fine, but then you’d have an entire strap-on that would be going to waste. Maybe you could just use it on Brian instead.
Then, of course, somehow, thanks to Roger, you ended up watching guy-getting-fucked-by-girl porn, and you took note of the way Roger’s cheeks flushed and his breathing sped up, the way he watched with rapture, his pupils blown. He kept up commentary as well, pointing out things he liked the look of and things he didn’t.
So it seemed he was genuinely interested in it, after all. Good. You were, too, and watching porn of it only made you more eager for the real thing.
You noticed Roger having to shift himself every few seconds, adjusting his jeans, so you reached over and began palming him, feeling him harden beneath your hand. The high-heeled woman on screen called the man she was fucking a little bitch and rammed her silicon dick into him, and the man moaned. Roger hissed, “Fuck,” and batted your hand away to undo his jeans, unzipping the fly, so you could wiggle your hand into his underwear. Barely even looking at what he was doing, he pushed your dress up your thighs and returned the favour, massaging your clit.
Jacking each other off, side by side, while watching porn, wasn’t something you thought you’d ever done before. Roger came first, and as soon as he did, he reached forward and snapped your laptop shut as you reached for a tissue from your bedside table to wipe your hand clean.
“I’ve heard plenty of those guys,” he said, tucking himself back into his jeans and sliding the laptop out of the way across the bed. He rolled onto his stomach, settling between your thighs. He was still breathing heavily, pink-cheeked and a little sweaty from his orgasm, and he looked gorgeous. “I wanna hear you now.”
He didn’t even bother taking your underwear off – he just pulled it aside to make room for his mouth.
-
The strap-on arrived about five days later, and you sent Roger a snap of the box. can u put it on for me? he asked.
So you did. It took some figuring out, and you were still fully dressed underneath it, which looked a little silly. It felt odd, to have weight at the front of your pelvis where you were used to having none. You sent Roger a snap, pulling a dumb facing and making a peace sign in the mirror, jutting your hips forward.
not really what I was expecting ngl, he replied, and you snorted. do u like it? feels ok?
yeah, you said. so when do u wanna meet?
send me a photo of u wearing nothing but that and I can make time to come over rn
You laughed. I’m free saturday night
I got work sat night :((
    till when?
    10-3. AM.
    ew
     ikr
come over before then, you said. come over at like 7
u want me to come over to urs and get fucked in the ass then do a 6 hour shift at work
was that not clear? You bit your lip, then went for the jugular, smiling to yourself as you did so. or are u not manly enough to handle that?
fuck u, Roger replied immediately. see u at 7 on saturday. DONT TELL BRIAN.
-
You were half-tempted to tell Brian, just for the hell of it. But you didn’t, even when you and Brian ran into each other at the library the next day, and ended up sitting next to each other, flirting with each other over text underneath the table as your books sat, untouched.
You and Brian also sat untouched. He had a lecture to get to, and, as tempting as it was to let him fuck you in the library toilets, your ‘no fucking at uni’ rule still stood.
So by the time seven PM Saturday rolled around, you were feeling a little pent-up. But you swallowed it down as best you could – you didn’t want to push Roger into anything he wasn’t comfortable with just because you were horny.
When he turned up, he had a glint of excitement in his eye. You knew that glint well – Roger had been fairly vanilla before he’d started sleeping with you, and nothing was more enticing to him than the prospect of trying anything new and a bit left of field.
“Show me, show me, show me,” he said as soon as he stepped in the door, and he followed you, a spring in his step, to your bedroom, where the strap-on lay on your bed, next to a heavy supply of lubricant.
“Oh, man,” he said, his eyes wide. He picked it up by the dildo, and turned to you, looking almost amazed. “This is gonna go in my bum.”
You spluttered out a laugh, and then Roger was laughing too, and both of you were struggling to breathe.
“Way to ruin the fucking mood,” you said, wiping tears from your eyes.
“Well, it’s true!” Roger said. A few bubbles of laughter escaped from him, and then he took a big breath and finally let the strap-on drop back onto the bed. “And I have thoroughly washed every nook, cranny, crack, and crevice of my entire body, so I hope it does go in my bum, otherwise that would have been a bloody waste of my time.”
“Hygiene would have been a waste of your time?” you said, quirking an eyebrow.
“This was ridiculous,” Roger said. “It was, like, pandemic-national-state-of-emergency-everyone-cleanse-yourselves level of hygiene. I haven’t been this clean since before I was born. And,” he added, swaggering over to you, far too proud for someone who’d just said the word ‘bum’ twice in about five minutes, “I’ve been practicing. So you’re welcome.”
    “Practicing?”
Roger’s hands came to rest on your hips, and he bit his bottom lip, waggling his eyebrows at you. “Oh, yeah. With my fingers.”
“Oh,” you said, pleasantly surprised. “How many times have you fingered yourself, then?”
“Like, three times since last Saturday?”
    “And?”
“It is… weird and uncomfortable.” Roger shrugged a shoulder dismissively. “But I haven’t been able to find my G-spot, so I imagine when you find it, it’ll make everything way better.”
“Oh, so it’s up to me now, is it?” you said.
“You’re the one fucking me,” Roger said.
You supposed he was right. “And how many fingers have you managed?”
Roger glanced away. “Uh, two,” he said, a little embarrassed. “It’s kinda hard when you’re doing it yourself.”
“Wow,” you said, your voice lilting suggestively. “So hot. You’re turning me on so much.”
“Hey, you asked,” Roger said indignantly.
“Yes, that’s true. I’m sorry.” You leant forward and gave Roger a soft kiss. “I’ll make sure you’re nice and stretched out for me, okay?”
Roger nodded, and grinned. “Okay.” His grin brightened. “Brian’s gonna be so jealous when he finds out.”
You rolled your eyes. “Enough about Brian, Jesus.”
“All right, all right.” Roger kissed you, and you both quickly fell into the familiar routine of it, the push-and-pull, give-and-take of it. You expected the gentleness of Roger’s kisses now, and it was all too easy to lose yourself in them, undressing each other with ease. You knew to tug on Roger’s hair every now and again; he knew you liked the feeling of his hand pressing on your lower back.
You found yourself on the bed, wearing only your bra and underwear. Hands were roaming further downwards, kissing were growing longer, needier.
You paused before things got carried away, rolling on top of Roger and straddling his waist, leaning down to kiss his neck. “How do you wanna do this?” you murmured, ghosting your lips along his skin.
Roger sighed, languidly rolling his hips up against yours. “The stuff we read said doggy style is easiest for your first time, right?”
You could feel his throat vibrating against your lips, and you kissed his pulse point, humming in agreement.
He moaned softly. “But… just doing this is really good too,” he murmured.
You smiled, and captured his lips in yours again. You ground against him, just a little bit, loving how he kissed you harder in response.
So you kissed like that for even longer, until your mouth was swollen. You almost forgot entirely why Roger was here, just enjoying the intimacy, but then you noticed you had to piss, and when you sat up you spotted the neglected strap-on at the foot of the bed.
“Oh, wait, hold up,” you said with a chuckle.
“What?” Roger said, sitting up beside you. “Oh, yeah, that.”
You both laughed, and you gave his thigh a light slap. “I’m gonna pee. I want you on all fours when I get back, all right?”
“Bossy,” Roger muttered, and gave your butt a light pat in return when you climbed off the bed.
When you returned, Roger wasn’t on all fours – he was inspecting the strap-on, his bottom lip jutting out slightly in concentration, a line between his brows.
“Nervous?” you asked, and he looked up sharply, surprised at your entrance.
“A little,” he admitted. He ran his fingers along the dildo, and gave you an anxious smile. “I hope I like it.”
You shrugged, and fetched one of the bottles of lube. “If you don’t, it’s nothing to worry about. I think it’s great that you’re trying.” You gave him a quick kiss. “All right, hands and knees.”
He got into position, and you ducked around him to kiss him again, stroking along his side soothingly. You drew back, and settled behind him with a determined sigh.
    “Okay,” you said.
Roger peered around himself to look at you. “Do you know what you’re doing?”
“I’ve never done anal, so not really, in all honesty,” you said. “But I have plenty of experience stretching out myself, so I’m gonna go with a similar method. It’s tried and true, after all.” You patted Roger’s arse, and he jumped a little, then laughed.
“You have such a cute butt,” you remarked, giving one cheek a squeeze. “It’s all round and perky.”
“Oh my God, stop,” Roger groaned in embarrassment.
“I mean it!” you said with a laugh.
“I know you do, that’s why I’m saying stop. And, for the record, I know I have a cute bum, you’re not the first person to tell me that. But I don’t need to hear it when you’re about to – y’know.”
You grinned. “Sorry, sorry. I was trying to make you feel more comfortable.”
    “Just please get started.”
“All right, all right.” You pressed a kiss to the base of his spine, then poured lube on your fingers. “Ready?”
    “Yes,” he huffed. “Go.”
Fingers dripping, you circled his entrance, massaging it. You could feel his whole body seize up immediately, like you’d electrocuted him. You squeezed his hip, and just kept working him open until you could push a finger in.
“Relax for me, Rog,” you said, rubbing his thigh soothingly. “You’re so tight.”
    “I’m trying.”
“Stop trying,” you said. “Stop thinking about it. Hey, why don’t I just…” You reached around and ghosted your hand over his dick. He was soft, so you worked to get him interested, lightly jerking him off when he nodded his head.
“Okay, yeah, that’s better,” he breathed, and already he was relaxing more around your finger.
“Can you do it?” you said. “Sorry, it’s just a bit hard for me to do both.”
Roger hummed, and leant down onto one elbow, getting his balance. His fingers brushed yours as he wrapped them around his cock, and you gave him one final squeeze before you let go.
You could wiggle your finger around now, and you worked a second in, twisting and scissoring, dropping little words of praise and encouragement when Roger began to open up. It made your wrist and fingers ache, but you didn’t care.
You pushed your fingers in a little deeper, and Roger twitched in discomfort.
“How you going, you need a break?” you said.
    Roger grunted. “I’m fine.”
    “You sure?”
    “Can we just… switch positions?”
“Sure.” You eased your fingers out of him, and he fell onto his side, rolling onto his back. He was pink and sweating.
You patted his knee, and grabbed a pillow, and he lifted his hips so you could slide it underneath him. “We can stop whenever.”
“I know,” he said. “I don’t want to. I want you to fuck me.”
You shuddered. “Yeah, okay. How about I suck you off for a bit, take your mind off it?”
“All right,” Roger said, and you settled between his legs, slipping his half-hard cock into your mouth.
You were careful not to get him too excited, but he moaned softly, his hand twisting into your hair. “Fuck, your mouth,” he breathed.
You got an idea. You pulled off with a wet sound, wiping your mouth on the back of your hand. “Rog, curl your legs up to your chest a bit for me.”
    Roger did. “Why?”
“I’m gonna try like this, okay?”
He nodded. “Yeah, go for it.”
You poured more lube onto your fingers, and then went back to blowing him, feeling him swell in your mouth, and made sure to take him deep as you pushed two fingers back into him.
Roger made a strangled sound, and you paused, glancing up at him, but he blurted out, “Keep going, keep going, it’s good.”
So you did. You were able to work your fingers even deeper, and then you began searching for his prostate. You knew it was hardly the best blowjob you’d ever given – you kept getting distracted by what your hand was doing – but it seemed to keep Roger’s mind occupied enough to stretch him out.
Then the pads of your fingers brushed over what must have been his prostate, because Roger stiffened, crying out. “Oh, Jesus, fuck,” he exclaimed. “What the f– Oh, that was my G-spot, wasn’t it?”
You nodded, mouth still full of dick, drool dripping over your lips, and Roger chuckled at the sight. “Okay, I can see why people like this now.”
You focused back on your task. You began sucking him off properly, swallowing around him, and he moaned appreciatively. “Fuck, sweetheart,” he said.
Then you did a bit more prodding, and pressed against his prostate again, and he gasped. “Mm, fuck,” he groaned. “Christ, that feels so good.”
So you did it again, just massaging the area, and Roger’s dick twitched in your mouth. “Oh, oh, God, fuck, oh,” he blurted, his voice climbing in pitch with each oh. “Ah, fuck, no, I can’t, you gotta st– ah, mm– stop stop stop.”
You did, pulling off him with a slurp. You kept your fingers inside him, but moved them away from his prostate.
He was panting, and he scraped his hair away from his face. “Ah, God,” he said weakly. “God, I need to come. Can you fuck me now? Is this what it feels like when I get you all worked up and you start demanding that I fuck you?”
“I imagine so, probably,” you said. “You just really want to have something inside you?”
“Inside me, yeah,” Roger agreed. He laughed. “Which is… an unfamiliar need.”
“I don’t think you’re stretched out enough,” you said. “Another finger at least.”
“All right, yeah,” Roger said. “Go ahead.”
“You want me to keep sucking you off?”
“Not… right now. I need time to cool down a bit.”
You chuckled. “Okay.” You pressed a kiss to the inside of his knee, and then slid a third finger in. It went far more easily than the first two, and Roger just sighed at the intrusion, his eyes closing.
There was still some scissoring and wriggling to do, but the only sign of discomfort that Roger signalled was the occasional shift. For the most part, he just let it happen, until you were able to fuck him with all three of your fingers.
You found Roger’s prostate again, and he hissed. “Mm, God, fuck me,” he moaned, almost obscenely, and you stopped in surprise, laughing slightly.
“What?” he said, looking down at you.
“No, nothing,” you said quickly. “Just… wasn’t expecting that.”
    “What?”
You took half a second to register that he really didn’t seem to know what you were referring to. You didn’t want to make him feel embarrassed, so you said, “Nothing. How do you feel?”
    “Good. Really good.”
“Good.” You eased your fingers out, and Roger moaned again. “I think you’re ready.”
Roger sat up on his elbows. “Fucking finally. Get that thing on.”
You snorted. “All right, all right. You’re welcome.”
“Sorry. Thank you for fingering me, I know it took forever.”
You gave him a smile as you climbed off the bed. “That’s okay, I was happy to do it.”
You put on the strap-on. You were just fiddling with the buckles when Roger crawled over to you, and sat back on his haunches on the edge of the bed.
“You look really good with that on,” he said, his eyes roaming your body.
“You think so? Doesn’t look too silly?”
“Knowing that you’re about to fuck me? No. Not silly.”
You grinned. “I’m glad you’re so eager.”
Roger nodded, licking his lips, his eyes wide.
You went to the lube, and slicked up the dildo. You had to admit, there was something really hot about watching your hand slide up and down your dick, even if the dick was fake. Just the action of jacking yourself off was enough to turn you on. You felt powerful.
“How do you wanna do this?” you said, turning to Roger.
“I– I wanna ride you,” Roger said, his cheeks turning redder. “Can I do that?”
“Yeah, we can try that,” you said. You settled down on your back in the middle of the bed. “I’m ready when you are.”
Roger took a steadying breath, and then crawled over you, straddling your hips. “I can’t believe I’m about to do this,” he muttered.
“You don’t have to if you don’t want to,” you said.
“Oh, no, I want to,” Roger said. “I just never imagined I’d want to. Funny how life turns out.”
He positioned himself above the strap-on, and you held it steady for him. “Easy does it, yeah?” you said, and he nodded, then started lowering himself down.
His eyes went wide, and he stopped almost immediately. “Ah, shit,” he panted.
You rubbed his thigh. “You’re all right, you’ve got this.”
He nodded. “I know, it just…”
He took a moment, and then kept going.
By the time he was fully seated, he was trembling from the effort, his skin glistening with sweat.
“How does it feel?” you asked gingerly, smoothing your hands up and down his thighs. It felt different to feel the weight of someone seated in your lap. Different, but definitely something you’d be happy getting used to. “You all right? Doesn’t hurt?”
“I feel… really full,” he said weakly.
    “In a bad way?”
    “N–No. Good way.”
    You beamed. “Good!”
Roger gave you a wobbly smile back. “I…” He laughed. “There’s just so much of it. I don’t even know what to do right now.”
“Just start moving,” you said. “Move your hips. Just find out what feels good. Take your time, I’m in no hurry. We’ve got plenty of lube.”
Roger nodded, and then gave his hips a gentle rock forward. He made a small sound.
“Yeah, like that,” you said. “Just like that. You’re doing so well.”
Roger started rocking a little more, and his eyes slid closed, his brow furrowing.
“You can lean on me,” you said.
Roger did, bracing himself against your shoulders. “Is this okay?” he said.
“Perfect,” you said. You wanted to press forward to give him a kiss, but you didn’t want to jostle him too much, so you instead turned your head to press your lips to his wrist, and just kept running your hands over his thighs.
He started moving with more purpose now, and the look on his face and the sound that fell from his open lips made your core throb.
“F–fuck,” he whispered, and you felt his thighs clench has he lifted himself up off the dildo and back down again.
“God, Rog,” you breathed. You moved your hands to his hips, and started gently rolling your hips up to meet his.
    “Oh,” he moaned.
You fumbled for the lube and drizzled some onto your hand, then started lightly dragging your fist over his cock in time with his thrusts.
Roger swore, his hips jerking forward into your hand. He sat back and started dragging himself up and down the dildo, experimenting and exploring, and then slowly picked up speed, beginning to bounce in your lap, just shallow bounces, and you pumped his cock, and he started letting out little ah, ah, ah sounds that were somehow both stupidly hot and stupidly cute at the same time. The natural rasp of his voice sounded fucking phenomenal.
You were in awe. “Shit, you look incredible,” you said.
Roger smiled down at you, and then he must have hit some spot inside him, because his smile disappeared from his face, replaced by what you could only describe as an O-face, and he stilled in your lap, shuddering. “Oh, fuck,” he whimpered. He leant forward again, on your shoulders, and slowly circled his hips, fucking himself slow and deep, his head hanging down between his shoulders, gasping moans dripping from his lips like honey. You slowed down your fist, swiping your thumb over the head and twisting leisurely, rolling your hips up to his nice and slowly.
“You’re so vocal for me,” you murmured appraisingly. “Sound so perfect.”
    Roger moaned again.
“Yeah, like that,” you said. “Feels so good to be so full, doesn’t it? Can’t help making all those pretty sounds.”
    “Yeah,” Roger ground out.
You could see the tension in his arms, and you used your other hand to card his hair from his face. It didn’t matter, though – his hair fell right back into place.
He went very still very suddenly. “Ah, fuck, fuck, more lube,” he grunted.
“On it,” you said. “Wanna hop off?”
Roger nodded, and you helped him up. He collapsed beside you on the bed, and you poured so much lube onto the strap that it dripped onto the bed.
“Do you want to keep going?” you said, and Roger nodded.
    “Yeah.”
“Can I try fucking you like this?” you asked, settling in between his thighs.
Roger moaned, covering his face with his hands. “That’s so hot.”
You playfully threw his legs open wide, and he just about squeaked, and then you drizzled some lube onto your fingers and said, “Just gonna put my fingers in you, okay? Get you nice and wet for me.”
“That sounds gross,” Roger said with a giggle, but he let his arms fall beside him, and his legs more open still.
You eased a finger into him, then a second, massaging his opening, and he hummed. “It feels so much nicer when I’m not so clenched up,” he said.
“We got there in the end, didn’t we?” you said. You withdrew your fingers, and Roger sighed.
    “Okay, you ready?”
“Yeah. You better fuck me good.”
“You may have to help me,” you said with a slightly nervous grin. “I’ve never done this before.”
“It’s okay,” Roger said. “I’ve never been fucked before, so we’re both in the dark here.”
You took one of his knees, bringing it over your hip, and then braced yourself on the bed and took hold of the strap-on again, sliding the tip into Roger.
“Slower, ah, slower,” he blurted, and you froze.
    “Sorry.”
“It’s okay,” Roger said tightly. “Keep going. Not too slow, just a little slower.”
So you did, and Roger didn’t stop you again. You stopped about halfway, and then, feeling a bit silly but hoping you were guessing right, pulled out a touch and thrust shallowly back in.
Roger’s mouth fell open. “Ah, Christ.”
    “Good?”
    “Yes. Good.”
You kept it up, going in just a little more each time until you were all the way in. Your thighs burned. You never realised how strenuous this was. You’d have to give the boys more credit.
Roger looked almost in another dimension, like he didn’t know what to do with himself, his eyes wide and his mouth still open.
You leant over to kiss his jaw. “You all right?”
“Yeah,” he said. His eyes flicked to you, and his pupils were huge. “Yeah, I’m– I’m great.”
“I’m gonna keep going, gonna do a bit more, okay? Tell me if it hurts.”
    Roger nodded.
You leant back a little, and then started thrusting, trying to copy what you liked on yourself, hoping it translated.
Roger let out a stuttering moan, and gripped the sheets beside him. “Oh, yes, fuck.”
So you kept going, hitting him deep. The sounds he was making were unlike anything you’d heard from him before – moans, but loud, punching out of him, and whining sobs. His fists twisted in the sheets.
Then you shifted, changing your angle, and he very nearly howled. “Right there, right there, please, fuck, don’t stop!”
Thank God no one else was home.
“Rog, touch yourself,” you said in a rush. “Come on, I wanna see you come all over yourself.”
Roger’s hand went to his cock, and he started fisting himself in time to your thrusts. His eyelids fluttered. “Not gonna – last long,” he gasped.
“Doesn’t matter,” you said. “God, Roger, it’s so hot how much you love this. You look fucking perfect, getting fucked like this.”
Roger moaned, and he begged you to go faster, so you did, and his hand sped up, matching you. He squirmed.
An idea sprung into your head, and, biting your lip to try to hide your smug smile – unsuccessfully – you said, “You gonna come on my cock, sweetheart?”
Roger let out a sound that was half a moan and half a laugh, and managed to get out, “God, I fuckin’ am.”
    “You’re so close, aren’t you?”
Roger nodded frantically, his face flushed.
    “How close?”
“S-so close,” Roger whined. “Fuck, ah.”
You had to pause to shift, and then you started fucking him again, and you must have done something right because Roger’s back was arching and he was begging you to fuck him right there, yes, so you did, and then two strokes of his hand later he came, white splattering all over his chest and stomach, and his chest was heaving as you slowed down, easing him through it, same as his hand.
You were sweaty and exhausted and unbelievably horny, but it was worth it to see Roger’s face when he’d come. It seemed to take forever for him to come back to Earth, and you just rubbed his thigh soothingly as you waited.
Then he looked down at you, blinking those big blue eyes, and you couldn’t help but laugh. “You with me?” you said.
Roger nodded wordlessly, breaking out into a dazzling smile that was equal parts delighted and bewildered, and you laughed again.
“Holy fuck,” he said. He moved a bit, and then his face screwed up. “Ah, sensitive.”
“Sorry, it’s– I’m, um, still inside you,” you said.
Roger shuddered. “Why does that sound so hot? It shouldn’t, but it does.”
“I’m going to pull out,” you said. “Sorry if it’s uncomfortable.”
You slowly pulled the strap-on out of Roger, and he didn’t say anything, but his nose was scrunched.
You climbed off the bed and fiddled with the strap-on, unfastening all the clips and buckles, and letting it pool at your feet, while Roger reached for a tissue to wipe himself down. “I’ll clean this later,” you said, and joined Roger on the bed.
Roger pulled you in for a kiss. “I think my mind just exploded.”
You grinned. “Oh, really? I couldn’t tell.”
“Shut up.” Roger kissed you again. “We need to do that again some time.”
“We will,” you said. “I own that thing, you know. We can do this any time. Maybe next time we can have a go at me being in charge. Y’know, really in charge, like that time at my place.”
Roger breathed out shakily. “You have no idea what the thought of that does to me,” he said, his voice rough.
You wiggled your eyebrows, grinning salaciously, curling into him, smoothing your hand over his chest. “Maybe we can try tying your hands up, really drag it out, edging you for, like, an hour.” Roger’s breathing grew shallow, his eyes darkening. “See if I can make you come just from fucking and fingering you, not even touching your dick.”
“Fuck,” Roger hissed, and kissed you hungrily.
You tried to suppress your grin, but it was difficult, and you made a pleased noise against Roger’s lips, coming your fingers through his hair.
By the time you broke apart, you were aching. “Who would’ve thought you liked being dominated and pegged, huh?” you said, tapping his cheek with the palm of your hand.
“I’m so glad we started hooking up,” Roger said earnestly. “No other girl I’ve been with has suggested it. Who knows how long I would’ve gone without trying it? Could’ve been years.”
You chuckled. “What a tragedy that would’ve been.”
“You’re telling me. Dodged a fucking bullet.”
You both laughed, and you gave him a soft kiss. “Well, now we’ve done this once, should be easier next time. We can try out whatever you like.” You paused. “Given that we have the time to stretch you out properly, and when no one else is home…”
“I can prep myself,” Roger said. “Make life a bit easier. But why do we have to be alone?”
You gave him a look. “Uh, did you hear yourself? You were like a porn star. Uh, yeah, fuck, right there, uh, harder, fuck me, uh.”
Roger blushed profusely. “I did fucking not sound like that.”
“You most certainly did,” you said. You squeezed his hip. “It was hot as hell, don’t be embarrassed about it. But unless you want Lucy or the guys to know without a doubt that you’re being fucked in the arse, I’d suggest we wait until we’re alone.”
Roger grunted, and then yawned. “Ah, God, I could fall asleep right now.”
“You can’t, you’ve got work,” you said. “In…” You checked the time. “An hour and a half.”
Roger’s eyes closed, and he nodded sleepily. “I do,” he murmured. “But I’m also so tired.”
“You’re covered in almost every substance known to man right now,” you said. “You need to shower.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Roger said. “Can you carry me?”
You snorted. “In your dreams. You big baby.”
    Roger smiled. “Worth a shot.”
“Come on.” You rolled off the bed, staggering slightly as your thighs protested. “Man, I’m gonna have to do some stretches or something,” you said. “I swear a pulled a muscle.”
Roger’s eyes cracked open. “Did you hurt yourself?”
“No, just my thighs ache like a bitch. Doesn’t that happen to you?”
Roger hummed, his eyes closing again. “A bit. Guess I’m not as focused on it when I’m trying to get off. You don’t really notice it as much.”
“Hey.” You picked up the bottle of lube on the bed and threw it at him. “Don’t fall asleep.” It bounced off his ribs, and he recoiled.
    “Ow!”
    “Get up.”
    He moaned in protest.
“You’re disgusting.” You gathered up your clothes. “I’ll see you in the morning, I guess! Have fun getting fired!”
“No, no, I’ll shower, I’m coming,” Roger said. He took a deep breath in, and then hauled himself into sitting position, then rolled off the bed. He held out his arms, trying to hide his wincing. “Ta-da.”
“Well done, you stood up,” you said.
    “Thank you.”
You couldn’t help but smile as you shook your head. “Stop being cute. Go on.”
Roger grinned, and headed towards the door. “You think I’m cute?” He tossed his hair over his shoulder. “Someone told me today they think I have a cute arse; would you agree?” He gave it a little slap.
You raised an eyebrow. “‘Someone’, huh?”
“Yeah, no one important.” Roger disappeared out the door before you could respond. “Come join me and my cute arse in the shower,” he called.
“Yeah, all right,” you called back. You dumped your clothes on the floor again, and hurried after him.
As a thank-you for this evening, he kissed you until you couldn’t breathe and fingered you in the shower until you’d come twice, completely shaking apart, having to lean against him for support, your knees weak. When you eventually climbed out of the shower – both of you now well and truly satisfied – you took one look at the mirror and said absentmindedly, “What if next time I fucked you from behind, facing a mirror?”
Roger made a sound that was almost a word but not quite, his towel dropping from his hands.
You turned to him, laughing, as you wrapped your towel around yourself. “What?”
    “Are you serious?”
“Why, does that sound like something you’d be interested in?”
    Roger nodded eagerly.
You shrugged a shoulder. “Yeah, we can do that.”
Roger surged towards you, kissing you heatedly, gasping into your mouth about how hot you were, about how you’d fucked him so well. You had to slow him down eventually – you could feel that both of you were getting too riled up, and one of you had to be the responsible one.
But it was only when Roger realised that he was running late that he actually finished getting ready. You were sitting on the edge of your bed, and he gave you a firm kiss on your lips and a quick you’re literally perfect you’re the best friend ever. He had just ducked out of your bedroom door when you called, “Wait, Roger?”
He popped his head back in. “What, what, what is it?”
You opened your mouth, and then closed it again. “Nothing. Sorry.”
    “No, c’mon, what?”
“How would you feel about, uh, me fucking you while Brian fucks me?”
Roger groaned, lightly banging his head on your doorframe. “Jesus Christ.”
“Sorry!” you said, holding up your hands in defence. “Sorry, bad idea, I just thought of it and I just–”
“No, I meant, like, Jesus Christ, I am about to leave for work and you’re giving me a fucking…” He sighed. “I have to go before anything more comes out of that mouth that will wind up with me pouring beer everywhere or smashing a glass because I’ll be too distracted thinking about it. That’s not a solid yes, I don’t know if I’m all that on board for Brian seeing me – like that, but I will still be thinking it over until my brain fries in my skull, so cheers for that. I’m going now, goodbye.”
“Bye!” you called after him. “Sorry!”
“Fuck you!” he called back cheerily, and you heard the front door open and close again.

New Haven Police Department Part 2–Thomas
Tumblr media
Part 1
Thomas's POV
I continually checked on Y/N the closer we got to the station. The more I looked over at her, the more I decided that I should take her to the hospital instead.
"Where are we going?" Y/N groaned in pain as she tried to sit up.
"I figured I would take you to the hospital instead of the station," I stuttered as I glanced back over at her. "Besides, if I took you to the station, they would just turn around and take you to the hospital. So. . . One less stop."
She smiled weakly as she reached over and grabbed my hand. "It's going to be okay, Thomas. I promise."
I tried to send her a reassuring smile, but even I could tell that it was fake. I sighed before turning my attention back to the road. Soon, we pulled up to the hospital. I instantly jumped out and ran to Y/N's side. I opened her door and helped her out. I wrapped my arm around her waist, supporting most of her weight.
"Thomas," she said, breathlessly. I stopped walking and looked over at her, my heart dropping when I saw how pale she was. "I can't. . . I'm dizzy."
Right as she said that, her knees gave out. I instantly caught her, picking her up bridal style. I carried her inside, instantly catching the attention of a few nurses in the ER.
"What happened?" A nurse asked as they brought over a gurney.
"She was shot in her side."
"How long has she been bleeding?" A doctor asked as they had me place her down on the gurney.
"About twenty minutes?" I said, unsure. "Maybe less."
"Okay, let's take her back. We need to get her sewn up. Double-check for internal bleeding. We need to get that bullet out of her. Now. Keep an eye on her vitals."
I watched helplessly as they rolled her back into an operating room. "I'll be out here," I said under my breath.
I looked over when I felt the receptionist watching me. "Is she your partner?" She asked, pointing at my uniform.
"Yeah," I stuttered. "She is."
"Well," she smiled at me, "don't worry. She's going to be just fine. You can wait out here."
"Thank you," I said, letting out a sigh of relief as I looked back towards where they had just taken Y/N.
"In fact," the receptionist continued, "can you come over here and fill out the paperwork? Something tells me you'll be able to answer the questions we need."
                       * * * * *
About an hour later, the door finally opened and the same doctor that took Y/N walked towards me. I jumped up and met him in the middle of the floor.
"How is she? Is she going to be alright?" I rushed out.
"She's going to be fine," the doctor nodded, smiling knowingly at me. "We got the bullet out of her with no problem. Actually, that bullet made it so she didn't bleed out on your way here. She lost a lot of blood and it'll be a while until she's back at work."
"She's fine," I said more to reassure myself than anything else.
"She's in full recovery," he clarified. "We got the bullet out, stopped the bleeding, and closed the wound. She'll need to stay here and recover for a few weeks and depending on her heeling, she may need to go through some physical therapy."
"Physical therapy," I repeated.
"Yes, but it's nothing too bad." He said quickly. "Just the basic therapy, rebuilding her strength. Pretty soon, she'll be right back on her feet, next to you."
"Thank you," I said, letting out a sigh of relief. "Can I see her?"
"Of course," he said with a soft chuckle. "Follow me."
I held my breath as we walked down the hallway. When we stopped outside a door, my heart jumped into my throat.
"She's awake, but still a little groggy. You can go in," the doctor said, looking between me and the door.
"Thank you," I said. He sent me a nod and a knowing smile as he turned on his heel and walked to help other patients. I hesitated, nervously wiping my hands on my pants. After I built up as much courage as I could, I knocked on the door.
"Come in," I heard weakly come from inside. I took a deep breath before opening the door. When I saw Y/N lying in the hospital bed, my anxiety peaked.
"Hey," she smiled up at me. Her smile fell when she saw the look on my face. "Thomas, I'm fine."
I stared at her, struggling to breathe. She sighed as she reached her hand out to me. "Come here," she whispered. I walked over, my breathing speeding up.
I took her hand and sat next to her bed, scooting closer to her. "I'm so sorry," I rushed out. "I was just. . . I shouldn't have let you take that. . . He was aiming at me, not you."
"Thomas," she tried to cut me off.
"It's my fault."
"No."
"Yes," I said, my voice breaking. "You got hurt and it's my fault. Someone I care about got hurt and it's my fault. Again. Why did I think I could get close to someone and not hurt them?"
"Thomas, stop." She cut me off as she pulled on my hand, pulling me down towards her and pressing her lips to mine. I sighed against her lips as I instantly started moving my lips against hers.
I broke the kiss, leaning my forehead against hers as we caught our breath. "I'm sorry, Y/N."
"It's okay," she sighed. I leaned back, looking down at her as I ran my fingers through her hair. "I'm fine, Thomas. The doctor said I should be back on my feet in a couple of months."
I nodded, trying to calm down the nerves in my stomach as I scanned her face. I sucked in a breath as she reached up, cupping my cheek in her hand.
"I'm fine, Thomas. I promise," she whispered. Before I could say anything, there was another knock at the door. I jumped up, moving back a little, as our police chief walked in.
"Hey, you two."
"Hi, Chief," Y/N smiled as she slowly sat up.
"Hey, Vince," I said, shaking his hand as he looked over at Y/N.
"How you feeling, kiddo?" He asked her.
"I'm okay," she shrugged. She glanced over at me, her eyes sinking when she saw the guilty look on my face.
"I talked to your doctor," Vince continued, completely oblivious to the looks Y/N and I were sharing. "He said that they are keeping you here for about two weeks, maybe three. After that, he says that you shouldn't be back to work for a few months."
Y/N nodded as Vince continued to go through her time off and what would happen.
"You take your time getting better, okay kiddo? No need to jump back into work when you're not 100% better."
"Thanks, Vince."
"I'm just happy you both are okay." He said, looking between the two of us.
After going over her time off, he left and headed back to the station. When he left, I looked over at Y/N nervously biting her bottom lip. She laughed as she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"We should probably talk about. . . What happened," she said, her cheeks burning.
"Yeah," I chuckled awkwardly. I sighed as I sat back down and scooted closer to her bed, taking her hand in mine.
"Y/N, I've been through a lot ever since I woke up in the box. I escaped WICKED, several times, I took them down, I killed Janson, we got everyone out. Almost everyone."
"The two someones you lost," she whispered, looking down at our intertwined hands.
"Newt and Teresa."
I finally said their names. I haven't said their names out loud since I lost them. I looked up at her, my anxiety going away when I saw her smiling at me.
"You aren't going to lose me," she whispered. "I promise. I'm not going anywhere."
"But. . . Y/N, we're both cops. We're here because we got cornered by a group of old WICKED guards. They shot you, Y/N."
She cut me off by grabbing my cheek and pulling me down towards her. I pressed my lips to hers and instantly felt Y/N smile into the kiss. As our lips moved in sync, she pulled me closer. I was too caught up in the kiss to remember where we were. Without breaking the kiss, I stood up and laid next to her.
I pulled out of the kiss when she sucked in a breath. I leaned back, pressing my forehead to hers as we caught our breath.
"I'm sorry," I said under my breath. "We probably should slow down. Especially since you just got a bullet taken out of your side."
"Yeah, probably," I chuckled, leaning back. I was about to get out of her bed, but she stopped me. Instead, she pulled me over, leaning her head on my chest.
A few minutes later, I felt her breathing slow. I looked down at her, a smile forming as I watched her sleep. I carefully reached up and moved a piece of hair out of her face.
"I promise," I said under my breath, "I'm going to protect you. I'm not going to. . . I can't lose you too, Y/N."

From the angsty-ish prompt you just shared: Everlark “It’s all YOUR fault!” “Don’t fucking touch me.” Can't wait to read your little brain concoction, I just know it's gonna be amazing! :D xx
I’m terribly sorry for not answering this sooner, considering it was sent ages ago. I hopped on Tumblr a few days ago and noticed this lil prompt chilling in my inbox and I’m in retail now so I thought I’d put the two together. Please ignore the misspelling of the F word, I don’t swear so I just prefer to write it this way. Hopefully, anyone who sees this enjoys it, and again, I’m always open to new prompts.
///////////////////////
Katniss pov
“Don’t fcking touch me” I growl, as his body looms over me, his arm nearly whacking me in the face.
“Well maybe if you’d finished the returns yesterday we wouldn’t be in this mess”. With a click, he hangs an orange dress on the rail in front of me.
I squat down and begin rifling through baskets for any more tops.
The plastic boxes scrape as he drags them across the floor behind me.
“Quit making so much noise!”.
“It’s all your fault!”.
“What did I do?.
"Look at this mess Katniss”, he snaps. I glance over my shoulder to see him tossing cotton pads and shoes out of one of the boxes. Hats and baby socks go flying, and stained pajama trousers litter the floor.
“As if that helped” I reply snarkily.
“How complicated is it,” he says, scrubbing his hands through his blonde waves. He turns around to look at me. “This was all organized when I left. There are tags on all of this junk, how hard is it to put it in the right box”.
“That doesn’t matter”.
“To you! I’m the on putting up with Effie when she’s telling me off cause she keeps finding swimsuits in the winter department”.
“Oh please”, I roll my eyes and get back to digging. “Effie loves you”.
“Take some responsibility Katniss, I can’t bail you out all the time”.
I drag three t-shirts from beneath some damaged makeup and I attempt to brush the brown stains off of them. Do people really think we can’t tell that they’ve bought something and worn it for weeks before returning it. You’d think if they’d try to scam the system they’d at least chuck the clothes in a bucket of water. I lift the shirts to my nose and gag. They reek of sweat. I toss them over the railing, into a box at the back of the fitting room. I’ll get Gale to reduce them later, surely some fool will buy them.
Peeta starts humming behind me and I’m bumped forwards as he squeezes past me.
I jump to my feet. This space is too confined for two people let alone the six rails of returns, dozens of boxes, and four or so baskets that have been haphazardly left spilling onto the shop floor.
I throw my arm out to stop him as he tries to go past me.
“That’s meant to be folded,” I say nodding towards the dad jeans in his hands.
“No”, he reaches into a bin of hangers and retrieves one. “Jeans are supposed to be hung”.
“Give it to me”.
“No”.
I reach for the denim as he lifts his arm up, his green employee shirt stretching thin to accommodate for the movement. He’s not that much taller than me and I could easily grab the leg of the trousers but I know he enjoys these childish stunts.
“See you’re the one wasting time now”.
“A please wouldn’t hurt” he grumbles.
I go to grab the jeans and he leans backward, holding them out of reach, causing me to retreat. No way do I want to be near him. I glance at my watch. 11 am. Has it only been an hour? I have three more till my first break. This is why I don’t do double shifts, I somehow always managed to get lumbered with the goody-two-shoes who seems to take up all the space with his muscular build alone. Why couldn’t they have put me with Rue. The petite little thing who always did what was asked and scuttered around like a mouse, so she was never in your way.
“Look at the sticker,” I say gesturing to the one stuck on the right leg of the jeans.
“It’ll crease” he pouts. I hide my half-smile at proving him wrong. He’s never liked not getting his way. It’s just a shame I’ve always enjoyed it.
“Fold it”.
He drops his arm and begins doing as I ask. “I have a name y'know”.
“Not like that” I interrupt, trying to grab it, “No, you’re doing it wrong! Fold it in half”.
“I’ll fold you in half”, he grumbles shoving past me. Clearly, he’s still upset that I avoid using his name as much as I can but what does he expect. I’m not here to make friends, and the less I have to talk to a six-month retail newbie the better.
I squeeze into a small room adjacent to the fitting room and begin stacking some of the boxes so that they’re ready for being dragged back to the correct department. After a few minutes, a voice calls from the shop floor. I peak outside my room and see his head pop up from behind one of the rails.
“Do you wanna help me put some of this back?” he says quietly, gesturing to the rail that loaded with returned bras and teddies. Of course, he wants help with the women’s lingerie. Twenty-six departments and that’s the one he chooses. I ignore the warmth in my cheeks and struggle to get over to him.
“Only so I don’t have to stay late with you again”. I grab a handful of the underwear.
“Aww but we had so much fun last time” he teases sarcastically, bumping into me again. I almost snap at him to quit touching me but I know that’s what he wants. He just enjoys getting a rise out of me, since I’d been the one to start this nonsense his first week here.
“I’ll start with the…”, he starts looking through the hanged lingerie and then he glances at the one’s in my hands, “non-wired bra’s, Katniss you can start with the push-up bra’s. I’m sure we’d both appreciate that” he teases, with a wink. I avoid his gaze and bite my tongue as he swipes two items from my hands, a bunch from the rail, and sets off.
The nerve of some people.
The nerve of him.
Stupid Mellark.
As the hour goes by we trek back and forth, sorting the underwear by size and colors, everyday use and special occasions. Each time he passes me he tells a few lines from a story, something that happened to him years ago. At first, I found it annoying, not only that he talked but that he’d tease you with a few lines and then leave only to do it time and time again but as the minutes passed I began to look forward to the words that’d spill from his mouth. Sure, he could just shout it. The store isn’t that busy since its a Monday morning; the children are at school, and the men are sleeping after working most of the night, and he’s only a few rails over most of the time but I let him play his game and tell myself that it’s only so I can hear the end of the story.
By the time half twelve has rolled around, he’s finished his anecdote, and we’re on the last few items for this department. My cheeks hurt from hiding my smile and I eagerly wait for the fool to start a new story. I’m sure he’s got a ton up his sleeve and he’s just waiting for the right time to voice them. I glance around at the silence, confused as to why he’s stopped speaking.
“Well say something” I implore, searching for any hint of his head. I return to the fitting room and peak behind each of the rails before returning to the shop floor. Where did he go? There’s no mess of the floor indicating that he’s found another task to do and I would’ve seen him if he’d returned for more clothes. I stalk around, confused. Having someone leave isn’t that uncommon, considering we’re constantly understaffed but having been around Peeta for so long I’ve grown accustomed to his heavier footsteps.
I startle as a hand lands heavily on my shoulder. I whip around, flinching as my braid smacks me in the face. “Where’d you go?” I ask breathlessly. How did he sneak up on me? I need to pay more attention.
“I found a bag behind some of the nightwear. It looked like someone forgot their shopping and it had some er, adult toys from one of the other stores. I figured I’d deal with it so you didn’t have to”.
“You’re not supposed to be in nightwear”, I scowl, “You’re supposed to be with me”. It’s only after I’ve said it that I realize how that sounds. I’d meant that since we’re both on returns we should be sticking together but I know that I’ve just given him another thing to make fun of me for.
I ignore the odd warm feeling that settles in my stomach when he grins at me. “Aww you scared of losing me Katniss?”.
I stay silent, embarrassed at my poor choice of wording. I’ve never been good at saying what I think.
“It’s okay”, he says gently as he steps back. I almost sigh in relief, grateful that I don’t have him so close to me. Not that I didn’t enjoy it. It’s just, distracting.
“I’m not going anywhere”.
I evade his eyes and nod in silence. What a fool I must look like.
A voice breaks out over the intercom and I recognize it as Haymitch, one of the more lackadaisical security guards. “Staff announcement”, he grumbles “Peeta to childrenswear, ya got some clothes to fold”. With a crackle, it switches off and I hear Peeta chuckle. He stretches and I avoid looking at how the material clings to him.
“Good timing hey, you get your quiet at last” he teases, as he heads towards the stairs. “Give me a call if you need anything alright Katniss”, he pauses and it’s only then that I realize he’s waiting for my response. I nod and murmur a “yeah” but he’s so far away I know he doesn’t hear me.
He stalls for a moment longer and gives me another smile before turning the corner and ascending the stairs to the second floor.
I stand still, the smile no longer on my face as I realize I got what I’d asked for. Now I’ve got a pile of work and the next six hours - including my break - likely on my own. No stories, no-one interfering with my space.
Just what I’d wanted, and yet, for some strange reason I just… I miss him. And I hate being so alone.
