“That soon?” your group manager sighed a few feet ahead of your desk. He'd been frustrated at whatever conversation he was having over the phone for the last ten minutes now. You tried not to pay it any mind but it was getting harder now that it got him so worked up his voice could be heard through the entire office.

Your coworker Doyoung looked at you and looked like he wanted to cry. You tilted your head a little confused at what happened to him.

“If he’s this mad about something you just know the rest of us are going to get dragged in too?” he groaned before you could ask him what’s up.

“Who is he even talking to?” you asked him while rolling your chair away from your computer.

“The boss” Doyoung sighed. “The boss as in the ceo you idiot” he continued when you still looked confused.

You mouthed a silent ‘oh’ quickly understanding why your boss was so frustrated. You didn't know much about the ceo except for the fact that he only recently took over. His father retired less than a year ago and you all got the announcement that the current ceo took over only three months ago.

The Yoon company was huge and had establishments all over the country, even some internationally. You figured he would eventually visit each office to oversee what everyone was doing (read: stress everyone out for a twenty minute visit).

Before you could groan at the thought of it your manager got off the phone and clapped to get everyone’s attention. “So that was the ceo’s assistant” he said tiredly, “he’s coming this Friday”

It was almost comedic how instantly everybody complained. You couldn’t blame them. That was three days away, was he insane?

“The problem with Mr Yoon is that if you’re not ahead of the work, you’re behind. So even if we’re for the most part caught up with everything, he’ll likely find a way to complain about our branch.” You watched your manager scan through his personal spreadsheet that kept track of everyone’s work and current projects before he turned to you. “y/n I hate to throw this on you but you and Mingyu are the only ones not currently working on any specific project. Do you think the two of you could get started on that project for the Yang family?”

You knew what he was talking about. It was a project that you were supposed to work on in a month. “If we get it started early maybe he’ll cut us some slack on taking our sweet time with that project for Miss Park”

You nodded, agreeing to get started with the presentation for it. You’d essentially be doing this alone because Mingyu was still on a leave for visiting his family and he’d get back after the ceo was done visiting.

The next two days you spent getting less than three hours of sleep. At first Doyoung encouraged you to just half-ass the presentation but you knew that there was still the off chance that the ceo still went through the work thoroughly, if he did you don’t know how you’d be able to explain why the work was done at such a low level.

You managed to scrape together getting most of it done. The entire project was nowhere near done but considering the actual meeting for it was two months away, getting the presentation done already would surely put you and the office in the ceo’s good books.

Sipping your coffee, you trudged to your desk and stifled a yawn as you settled your things down. Looking at the calendar on your computer you confirmed it was Friday, meaning the ceo that made your last few days hell would be coming today.

You arrived here earlier than usual so you could make sure everything was set up correctly and quickly get one of the supervisors to double check the presentation.

“Look alive, his car just pulled up” Doyoung muttered, walking around your desk to get to his own and get his own belongings settled.

You sighed, mentally preparing yourself for the day. You just knew it’d be a long one.

The double doors pushed open, revealing who you assumed was the ceo. You knew he was young but you didn’t think he’d be that handsome, and oddly.. familiar? You didn’t even realize you were staring until Doyoung tapped you and beckoned you to get back to work.

“Everyone, this is Mr Yoon, the new ceo” your manager stepped aside to allow the ceo to take the center.

“It’s nice to meet you all, my name is Jeonghan. I look forward to seeing what everyone in this branch is capable of” he smiled.

‘Jeonghan’ talked to your manager before sauntering over to your desk, a polite business smile on his face. “I understand you are the one working on the Yang family project Miss..” he looked for your name tag. When he saw it you swear something in his face changed when he sneered speaking your name.

He looked back to your face, observing you before the corner of his lip quirked up. “It would seem like you are this branch’s most capable employee, Miss y/n”

“Oh I wouldn’t say that-” you tried to object.

“Come with me. Bring the presentation materials with you” he turned, not willing to hear any objection from your manager.

You hadn’t practiced presenting it, barely rereading any of the actual information on the slides. For the most part, you’d have to wing it.

As expected, the presentation was somewhat of a mess. The lack of sleep got to you so you weren’t as engaging with the presentation as you’d usually be, on top of that whenever you looked over at Jeonghan it felt like you were tripping over your words even more. It almost felt like he was staring and smirking at you on purpose.

By the time you were done with the presentation it was time for your break. You needed to unwind after the morning you had, scrolling through your phone and checking for any food places nearby that were open. You’d forgotten to pack a lunch and usually you’d deal with it, drinking an extra coffee instead but you desperately needed to just eat anything good to get your mind off of your annoying ceo.

Before you called and ordered, you figured you’d ask if anybody else wanted something too. You first asked your manager and were about to ask Doyoung except the ceo decided to strike up a conversation with him. Too hungry to wait you decided to just walk up and ask, it was your break anyway who cared?

“Hey Doyoung, I’m headed out for lunch. You want me to grab you anything to eat?” you asked him, not paying your ceo any mind while you felt him staring at you.

“Sure. I’ll text you, thanks” he smiled.

Before you headed off you decided to ask the ceo too since he seemed like the type to hold a grudge if you didn’t. “I’m alright, thank you for the offer”

“Here’s your food Doyoung” you smiled tiredly while you handed your coworker the bag.

You sat at the table with your own lunch, getting your food out and scrolling through your phone. You got a notification from that dating app you’d been using for a couple months now, answering the texts from the guy you’d been texting back and forth for a while now. His name was Minseok, you were originally supposed to go out with him a few days ago but had to take a raincheck to work on the project.

Just as you were about to text back that you too were excited for the date tonight, you felt your ceo looming over your shoulder.

“y/n. After you’re done with your break, come see me in my office” Jeonghan said plainly before stalking off.

You gulped, trying to shake off the nerves before focusing on your meal.

You weren’t sure if you wanted the break to end quickly or drag on. On one hand you wanted to get whatever Jeonghan was going to say over and done with, but on the other hand you didn’t want to have to actually deal with whatever he was going to say.

When your break did end, you were hesitant to see him, contemplating outside of his door for a few moments before sighing and biting the bullet. You straightened out your attire before walking into his office and walking toward his desk.

“You asked me to see you, Sir?” you smiled curtly.

“Take a seat” he pointed in front of the desk, opposite from him. “I’ve been thinking, I eventually need to stay in one branch and I want that branch to be this one” he tapped his desk while he spoke uninterested in his own words.

“The reason I’m telling all of this to you,” he circled his desk to stand directly at you. Eyes looking up at his, you gulped taking in his appearance. You really did not like him but you couldn’t deny he was good looking, bangs falling neatly over his eyes and looming over you like you were his prey.

“I’m telling you this because I want you to be my assistant” he smiled, despite that you felt like it was a trap.

Your mouth went dry and you forced out your next words, “assistant?”

“Don’t make that confused face, it makes you look stupid,” he laughed, causing your blood to boil. “You have excellent organizational skills, I could really use that in an assistant”

As much as you hated his guts, it was a good opportunity. If you worked up from his assistant you could eventually be a branch manager yourself one day. But the thought of working with him seemed like hell. Still, you bit back the bitter taste in your mouth, “I’d be delighted to, Sir. Thank you for the opportunity”

“Excellent” Jeonghan clapped, “your first task will be planning out my schedule for the new year. Make yourself comfortable and work at that spare desk over there” he dropped his planner and notes from his former assistant onto your lap before heading out of the office.

You stared at the mess for a few seconds, feeling yourself get more annoyed by the second. “Oh and y/n” he popped his head back in the door, “you’re not allowed to clock out until all of that is organized, understand?”

And he left again before you could confirm or oppose his decision. You decided it was useless trying to argue and settled with texting Minseok that you’d have to take another raincheck. Judging by the way he read the message but didn’t reply, it was safe to assume that it might not ever be rescheduled.

Hours passed and you were still only about halfway through planning the ceo’s schedule. You knew everyone was clocking out when you saw Doyoung wave pitifully at you through the glass door.

“You haven’t changed one bit, you know that?” Jeonghan piped up when the entire floor left for the night. In all honesty you’d forgotten he was still here considering he napped at his desk the first chance he got.

“What are you talking about?” you frowned. What did he mean? When did he ever know you prior to this?

“You never speak up, do you? Even back in high school you never did” he laughed mockingly.

High school? Okay, what was wrong with- oh. Now you remember. Yoon Jeonghan, you don’t know how it took so long to put two and two together. You were both in the same honors class in high school and constantly competed for the top spot. You didn’t necessarily resent him much at first but given how he was constantly pushed by his family to be the best, he loathed you for coming in his way of it. Because of this, he eventually made your life a living hell too, so you graduated hoping you’d never see him again.

“Remember now, huh? God I hated you, always being such a nuisance” he sneered down at you. You didn’t process him closer to you until he leaned over your desk and now face to face with you. “How does it feel to know you ended up below me anyway?”

You didn’t want to start an argument with your new boss, especially considering you’d be working with him at all times now. But you remembered his comment from earlier and it annoyed you how he spoke to you like you were inferior to him.

“It doesn’t feel like anything. Because I know that I at least earned my spot here, all you did was happen to be born in a good family” you watched as his smirk turned sour, anger crossing his face before he laughed lowly.

“You’ve got some nerve for talking to your boss like that. I could fire you right now, you want that y/n?”

The taller man laughed at the fear that flashed in your eyes. “Oh you poor thing, ran out of arguments?” he pouted condescendingly. “You were so confident a second ago, is one little threat all it takes to mess you up?”

You didn’t respond to his taunts, biting back your tongue so you couldn’t respond. It was pointless, he wasn’t the type to let you go easily if you argued back and he wasn’t worth losing your job over.

“You’re really boring me now y/n” he chuckled, “come on fight back a little, yeah?”

You turned to look at his face but gasped when you realized he’d gotten even closer, his face mere centimeters away from your own. “Jeonghan” you sighed, eyes fluttering shut to avoid his hard stare.

“Who gave you permission to call me by my name? You’re just my employee y/n. You worked so hard when we were younger just for you to be my lowly employee” he laughed in your face.

His words caused small tears to swell in your eyes and you tried to blink them away before he noticed them.

“Isn’t that just so cute?” Your boss cooed, wiping at your tears, “don’t cry baby”

You let out a small gasp at the pet name, desperately hoping he wouldn’t notice.

“You like that, huh?” Jeonghan observed your face, drinking in your appearance, looking a mess as a result of his harsh words and treatment. “Wonder what else you like” he mumbled, slim fingers moving from your cheeks to slide over your neck, eventually settling on your shoulder.

“Get back to work, yeah?” he left before you could say anything else. You watched as he walked away, taking this as your chance to leave. He could ridicule for it tomorrow but you couldn’t stay here any longer, not when you felt the need to kiss him right there.

Get a grip! You hated him! And he hated you, albeit that realisation did sting a little.

Ugh and you couldn’t even avoid him anymore, you were literally his assistant now there was no avoiding him. Whatever, he’d get bored of trying to get a rise out of you in a month or less so all you had to do was put up with him until then.

Ok y'all I have promised my beloved mutual @pop-squeak that I would write a post on my most beloved invasive marsh plant, Phragmites australis also known as the common reed. This thing is so invasive that it is considered a model for invasive plants as a whole.

Some things before we start

Most of this is focused on Virginia since that's where a lot of the research on this bad boy is being done but it does exist elsewhere

I will have citations at the end if you want some more reading

This is based on research I did for a paper like a year ago so there might be new research I am unaware of due to having other classes to do

I am an undergrad!!!!! I am generally new at this but I am fairly familiar with this specific subject and trust that everything in this post is accurate, but in general with invasive species it is a heavily nuanced topic that can be very complex. This is my best attempt to simplify this species for general consumption since I think its just really cool and important to coastal botany rn.

This thing lives in the marsh which is the area often between forest and the ocean/ body of water of varying salinity. This thing loves moderate salinity marshes since it can somewhat resist salt water intrusion. This is a part of what makes it so invasive especially in this era of severe sea level rise. Many coastal forests are dying as sea level is rising pushing the marsh farther inland. Part of the problem is that many native species can not move as colonize the new land as fast as the common reed can.

Phragmites as is incredibly good at reproducing and growing so close together that nothing else can live even close to it. It makes clonal offshoots of itself (THEY CREATE CLONES OF THEMSELVES?!?!?!?!?) and creates networks for communication. this dense packing leads to a monoculture where for miles in the strip of marsh 95% of what you see is phragmites. It is a magnificent and horrifying sight as you see the dead trees in the middle of these fields of phragmites knowing it was only 5-10 years ago that that was where the forest line was. It is the beautiful horror about being slowly consumed by the ocean. This monoculture does not only apply to flora but also fauna.

Farmers often actually welcome phragmites to their land and are resistant to get rid of it. This is because as native species have died off, phragmites has been able to colonize these areas fast enough to help resist further salt inundation and prevent flooding. This unfortunately is only a band-aid solution, especially in southern Virginia near the Chesapeake bay which has some of the highest rate of sea level rise in the country, since native plants and diverse marshes make them more resistant to flooding. It is better than nothing though, so we must keep in mind transition plans for farmland when trying to manage phragmites. We practice science to help every day people, not in spite of every day people. They should be included in all management decision making. We work for them not the other way around.

Competition is the name of the game for Phragmites. It beats is competition not only with its cloning abilities (there's a lot more to this but i had to read like 7 different papers to figures out wtf anybody was talking about so I'm not going into it) and sheer density, but it can also just poison the other plants around it. It can release a toxin that inhibits growth and seed sprouting in other species. It is also resistant to flooding and drought and it has been found that ground disturbance can make it spread faster. This makes it highly resistant to most disturbances that occur in marsh and wetland habitats.

Because it is resistant to like everything it is so hard to kill. To the point where some of the people who management have told me that eradicating it for an area is near impossible and an unreasonable expectation. Reduction has become the best case scenario. This makes early identification important. You can try to kill it by herbicides, mowing, fire, smothering with a plastic tarp, throwing a bunch of salt on top of it, and flooding with fresh or salt water.

The common reed is an interesting mix of being both a native and invasive plant. Phragmites australis has a subspecies native to North America, but this subspecies has been largely replaced by a more aggressive non-native European subspecies. Phragmites can grow from three to thirteen feet with broad sheath like leaves. Its considered one of the most invasive plants in the worlds having a broad geographic range. It exists on every continent except Antarctica.

As someone who has been in a field of them you can not pull these out of the ground. The tops break off but you have to dig them out of the ground if you wan them out. Also just a pain to walk through.

Music I think Top Gun characters would listen to.

Iceman: Tom will listen to anything, however, he has a massive soft spot for female power vocalists. It's become a running joke that if you ever need to find Iceman, just listen for Celine Dion. Aside from that, his most played artists are Carrie Underwood and Mariah Carrey.

Hangman: Realistically, Hangman would listen to country radio with some classic rock mixed in. His all-time favorite artists are James Brown and Led Zepplin.

In my head, however, he has the same music taste as a middle school boy but on a 3-5 year delay and is currently in his Sicko Mode era rn.

Rooster: I think we all know the answer to this. The sheer amount of 80s music rooster has downloaded is almost concerning.

Maverick: Pete Mitchell is the quintessential Bruce Springsteen fan. Aside from that, he'll listen to just about anything.

Bob: Bob has an extensive vinyl collection which consists almost entirely of oldies. His most played artists are Bobby Vinton, Johnny Tillotson, and Patsy Cline.

Coyote: 2000s club hits. It's such a problem Cyclone created a tip line to report anytime Flo Rida or Mike Posner is played out loud.

Hello, theres something i’ve wanted to ask your opinion on for a while now if it’s ok with you. Lately, I’ve been hearing rumors that Guizhong might become playable in the far future from reincarnation or revival. I’m not sure if these leaks are to be trusted, but it begs an interesting question for me: if Guizhong were to be brought back from reincarnation or otherwise, would the impact of her death still carry it’s weight? Or would it be undermined because “oh its no problem she can just be brought back from the dead lol”? Could it be done well at all if handled correctly? This is something thats been on my mind for a while since i started seeing these leaks. I wanted to ask you because you seem to be the right person to discuss this with.

I already talked about the way we can meet all dead characters in the main story, which i think would be enough to get them released as playable, without undermining their deaths

but even if hoyo doesn't get my genius and objectively correct vision, i still think she can be brought back in different ways without it feeling cheap. bc like to be fair to hoyo, they did their setup. i've wrote extensively about how guizhong haunts liyue, both map and story. its not like she just died and they're immediately bringing her back, she was gone for hundreds if not thousands years, it affects both the country and entire adepti polycule. zhongli is clearly still in the mourning, ping went into old woman exile, etc. her return will not erase thousands years of acute grief bc we as players also had time to play the game with guizhong-shaped wound in liuye for literal years, so its already not possible to be "no problem lol".

more problematic is which way they'll do it, bc if its smth repeatable, then like yeah, its a problem bc then what, everyone can be just brought back? that would be garbage.

but if its v unique and specific for guizhong, smth that won't work for anyone else, it can work fine. like we still have several chekhov guns in liuye - zhongli has her puzzle, memory of dust, which supposedly has all her knowledge, and we know gods can put their conscience into objects, like raiden literally lives in her sword rn. so like, it could be guizhong's personality matrix. then there is zhongli's deal with tsaritsa, like what did he sell his literal godhood for?

so overall i think hoyo can pull it off gracefully enough if they pull their A game writing and not like, inazuma fallout

i mentioned this before but i'm actually glad they brought kiryu back for y8 now. as much as i liked y6 it had. a lot of problems n i know ppl who understandably didn't enjoy the main story of 6 at all. watch GC Vazquez's y6 vid to get what i mean if u don't know (edit from the future: now that tehsnakerer's vid is out i recommend his more but you can watch both if you want)

(i thought i said this here before but i guess not? maybe i only said it on priv-) i think what little i've seen of y8 so far feels "kinder"? more "sincere"? as a send off than 6 despite the cancer thing ykwim. idk if that makes sense when i don't fully know the plot yet. basically it's better bc ichiban is there or something i can't explain it properly rn it has good vibes ok !!

i hope kiryu has a good time n it looks like he will bc ichiban got him finally singing judgement (his canon favorite song!!) again

like, i am at the end of my rope with this environment. my situation is technically less hopeless than it was growing up since i was on track to die or be homeless before 25 for most of my life, and i'm now in college with plans to move to a specific place that i know i love and have good reason to believe i can get by in. but the fact that i got out once and had to come back, got out another time and had to come back. people who haven't had to live somewhere like this just have no idea. yes, i'm being very 1st world problems rn. i'm sorry. but this is real trump country, like, trump owns and regularly visits a giant golf course and country club in this town. i've been being treated like a freak by people here because i like walking, i like art, and i'm generally oriented against greed for my whole life. i know that sounds dumb, like, very childish. but it's true. those aren't things that i want to be unique about me, i don't like standing out because i, like, read books. i was literally bullied for reading books all throughout school, as were other kids who read or had esoteric interests. that's the culture here

so i’ve had join problems for like 3 1/2 years now and they just got diagnosed like 2 week’s ago, turns out i have runners knee

so i feel bad because 1. it feels lit not as big of a deal as i feel like it is (it is a big deal, it’s impacted my life (thank you therapy))

2. i’m worried that pt and more exercise won’t make it better (i’m on my schools swim team, so 4 practices a week during the season, plus a swim meet on friday)

and 3. i feel like (at least for now) i need more support. my pt doesn’t start until february and i can’t remember the last day i haven’t been in pain or had sensations that are probably due to nerve wackiness. i have used a cane in the past and it has helped me immensely. but i feel bad for wanting something that works for both legs. i’ve literally have had 2 dreams about me having forearm crutches.

i’m just really exhausted, sorry for dumping this all on you rn, i feel like even though i was listened to i still was just told to exercise and loose weight

i’m gonna throw like a billion disclaimers on this that, in addition to my usual line about just being Some Guy on the internet, i am definitely responding from a place of trauma here - i don’t know your body & you are the authority on your experiences, i’m just tossing some stuff out there based on my experiences, which might be totally different in other (or underlying physical processes yadda yadda) ways. also like big tw for medical neglect

so. i ran cross country in high school and my joint pain originated in my left knee at age 16, no specific injury or incident, RICE etc barely did anything. xrays and mri showed nothing. tried cortisone shot, euflexxa injections, some sort of topical steroid that was originally used on racehorses, nothing. because i was a runner no one ever considered it could be anything but an orthopedic issue.

i had two exploratory arthroscopic surgeries (which i’ve since learned are as effective as a placebo) with extensive debridement - first dx, plica syndrome, “we have no idea why this was this bad,” cleared to run again after post-op PT, pain came back even worse after ~7 months.

second dx, grade II chondromalacia patellae aka runner’s knee. told never to run again. i knew in post-op PT that something was wrong, this wasn’t the same pain as recovery previously, it felt like the underlying issue was still there. this wasn’t pain of healing, it was making something else worse. my physical therapist didn’t believe me, just kept pushing me, literally told me once that there was no way i was in that much pain. the pattern of swelling, location & sensation of pain, nerve symptoms, etc never made sense to anyone, no matter how many people they called over to poke & prod.

i don’t think i’ll ever know why, especially when he then didn’t fucking do anything with this information, but one day he had me try a lumbar extension stretch. you know the scene in the little mermaid where she’s propping her upper body up with her arms on the rock, waves crashing behind her, triumphant music? it’s basically that pose. it was both the single most excruciating and relieving thing i’ve ever done; even my chronic migraine of 2 years lessened. but we proceeded on a normative linear recovery arc, i got cleared from PT, the pain was better but still there.

flash forward four more years of intensifying pain - first my other knee, then the bottoms of my feet, then more constant and prominent in my lower back, then my upper back & worsening of the neck pain i’d been told and believed was from looking down at books/phone, what i now know as neuropathy increasing all the while - using a cane, then forearm crutches, then a forearm rollator, then a mobility scooter, spending more & more time unable to leave the bed - and i stumbled across an article about ankylosing spondylitis that matched my history fucking eerily, right down to the car crash as a younger teenager. it turns out AS commonly first presents with knee pain, not back pain, in juveniles.

so here’s what i’m gonna tell you: even if it’s “only” chondromalacia, your pain is real and serious and you should listen to your body. and, with again the mega disclaimer that you might be experiencing something totally different, i gently suggest:

read my posts about AS. read my google doc about AS. read anybody’s posts and articles about anything that originates with knee pain, especially if it involves neuropathy.

keep tabs on your body and don’t believe anyone who tells you something is normal until you’ve investigated it for yourself. does your neck hurt? how much? how often? what about your upper spine, between your shoulders? your lower back?

try a lumbar extension stretch, just in case.

if you haven’t been to a rheumatologist before and it’s at all possible for you to do so, do it. if you have a GP and can get a blood workup from them instead, do that. more info on blood testing here - but keep in mind that negative blood work doesn’t rule anything out.

if you can get forearm crutches, one hundred thousand percent do it. make sure they’re sized properly - more info on that here.

do whatever you possibly can to shore up your trust in yourself and your experiences. surround yourself with as many people as possible, in person or online, who believe your pain and make you feel solid in your knowledge of yourself. i’m a big fan of putting up signs with reminders if you can. whether you have chondromalacia, something else, or a combination, your pain is real, it is disabling, and it is in your best interest to develop strategies to cope with the systemic gaslighting that is existing within an ableist society & medical system.

if there is literally anything at all i can do to encourage you, answer questions, etc, please feel free to dm me or send another ask any time. my whole fucking heart goes out to you - you are not the only one who’s been through this, and that is both the horror & deepest relief of chronic pain. so much love to you, may you receive everything you need.

at Bank A (aka my primary bank), i have two savings accounts in there: one of them is my concert account, and the other is the primary debit acc i use when purchasing things slash depositing slash depositing into my concert acc etc

i don't touch the concert account At All by giving myself an ultimatum!!! some are drastic (aka i convince myself that i'm gonna trip and get a gash if i don't deposit) and some are moderately... drastic-ish (aka i restrict myself from buying myself things until i deposit)

the account in Bank B is my backup acc!!! i already know that the ticket buying process in 2025 will be hell so i also save up there in case for some reason, my accounts in Bank A get declined

the account in Bank C is also a backup BUTTT i've reserved it in the case of me going to concerts outside of the country (i am maybe getting delusional but i am Also manifesting actually) :D this is because Bank C is famously good (from where i am atleast) for only having minimal to no conversion convenience fees when u withdraw from internation ATMs!!!

Backstory under the read more!! (CW for parental abuse/neglect, murder/death, cancer, adult student/professor relationships, and cheating)

They're a trans masc he/they (and a beta in the abo server I use them in) and a human disaster

Their backstory varies depending on where I'm using them, but generally:

Francis was raised on a farm in Canton, Georgia by Adam and Hope Jacobs. Due to his maternal grandparents having doubts about their daughter marrying a "country bum" rather than a businessman, both parents projected high expectations on him. Throughout school, flawless grades were expected of them, especially from their father. Adam was never impressed or even satisfied with Francis, and while Hope was happy for a long time and even defended her son from verbal abuse (frequently leading to Adam lashing out at her as well) while he was making straight As, the instant his grades dropped lower in high school, she completely ignored him and grew cold.

This led Francis to rebel, and from there the story kind of varies in terms of their childhood, but the common denominator is them or someone they know getting accused of something they didn't do, and managing to find the true culprit, leading to a passion for investigation that in turns lead to them straightening up their act for the sake of getting into a good school (specifically UCLA) and becoming a private investigator.

From there once more the story varies, but the general idea is:

They have a professor (who I've gone through a few names and designs for) looking for a successor of some sort and, despite him being married with kids, he pursues Francis sexually and Francis just can't bring themself to protest. He's the first person to take interest in them, him being their professor could lead to problems if they reject, and they are just. Genuinely attracting to him. When he starts persuing them kind of varies depending on the universe, but in the main server I'm using them in rn it's about midway through college.

There's also a couple versions of the backstory where the professor is simply a higher up at the firm Francis works for, just kind of depends on what "version" of Francis I'm using.

I always write the professors death the same: his lung cancer caused by heavy smoking for years progresses, and just before he dies his husband finds out and confronts Francis. They have a small physical altercation but nothing more. However the whole scenario makes Francis realize how horrible the whole thing is, and he resents the professor. The professor ends up dying alone not much later.

From there Francis becomes a PI in LA, and then after that things vary WILDLY depending on what's going on where I'm applying/rping them. My favorite is the main server I use them in, where they decide to become a professor at a university in Japan (where the server is set) to spite their past one.

Their story always intertwines w my besties OC Milo and they have the BEST dynamic and I can totally give some examples if y'all want but it's basically deliberately weird guy (Milo)xguy who is weird without realizing it (Francis) and it's perfect.

And yeee. I love my Guy :3

okay i was answering this the other day but then my computer shit itself and force reset and i lost my response so let me now give you a full rundown of the amount of bullshit i've been dealing with

or tl;dr i'm doing kinda bad rn but u know. i'll get through it.

so in order of least to worst

i need to find my dog a new vet which means my next weekday off i have to call multiple places and inquire about what they charge for certain testing and meds which is going to be a fucking pain. plus expensive. also his dumbass decided this morning to dive into a pile of birdshit on the sidewalk so i had to go out after work and buy him a new collar. ough.

i need a root canal real bad but the place my dentist originally referred me to DOESN'T take my insurance. i called other places and was either rejected or left on read. my own primary dentist i called a whole ass week ago and they also left me on read. the problem is i need an endodontist specifically bc the tooth already has a crown on it from a cavity i had filled previously. i can feel it more and more and i'm lowkey freaking the fuck out. i hate teeth. i hate them so much. i wish i could just pluck it out and replace it with smth cooler.

i have multiple coworkers making me and collectively everyone else at my job completely fucking insane. bc they're completely fucking insane. i am in actual hell daily and i am praying the one at least quits soon. not going into detail on here bc sliiiiight paranoia but. please god just know it's bad. like really bad.

ummmm my mother still doesn't know (?) i'm on hrt. i have no idea how bc my voice is like. deep. noticeably. also i don't know if i'll actually be prepared for the expected nuclear reaction of my family. which i mean fuck them but also good lord the trauma of it all.

oh yeah and the general transphobia raging in this nightmare country. which i try daily to ignore. especially living in ohio.

but in better news i'm finally receiving help??? i have a psychiatrist appointment soon and in a month or so i'll be contacted about a therapist. finally going to get diagnosed with shit and also validation on my abuse and all that. i think i also kinda...got an ocd diagnosis during my assessment. which is already a lot. like emotionally. since i've had symptoms since i was around 10 or so. i think finally having professionals tell me my pain is real and being able to name it is going to end up making me cry lol. i've just been through so much and treated so god damn badly you know.

but aside from all that things are okay. i actually like coming home now. i rearranged the living room a bit last night and made it more cozy.

What's wrong with orientalism in TMNT? || It's actually more probable that the creative team of most media don't go through fans' content, to avoid fans claiming plagiarism if the content does something a fan has also done. I'm not saying all creative teams stay away from their fans' content, just it's more likely they avoid it. Unless you have significant proof? || Your blog's cursor animation is cool.

1. not to say that tmnt is "irredeemable" or anything like that, but orientalism and anti-asian stereotyping has been a bit of a recurring problem throughout the franchise history ('87 especially... some of the lotus blossom episodes were hard to watch). for the last ronin lost years issues in particular, now that mike is going through parts of asia (japan, korea, china, mongolia so far), it really kind of becomes evident when taking into consideration how each country is depicted. more under cut cuz this got looooong

the second and third issues that partially took place in korea especially bothered me, since i'm ethnically korean with a family history on both sides of the border. unified korea is either portrayed like one of those neon, oversaturated, exoticizing pictures of east asian cities (see issue 2's cover) or dirty and full of violence, corruption, and criminal activity, depending on which side of the border mikey's on at the moment. the orientalism here is in this portrayal of koreans as a dirty, violent other for the turtles to judge and beat up. hell, donnie even calls them uncivilized:

what the hell man, i thought you were cool. also, the writers saw fit to... turn all of what was china into a nuclear wasteland after a 9.6 earthquake in beijing? despite china being massive??? this is a confusing decision and i can only wonder why it was made

the parts of the comic that take place in japan and mongolia feature characters that seemingly exist only to help mikey on his journey and train him. i fucked up here and accidentally deleted a huge chunk of this paragraph, and i'm neither japanese nor mongolian, so i can't and will not get into the specifics because i really don't want to put my foot in my mouth talking about the specifics of cultures and ethnic groups that i'm not a part of

either way, asians in the last ronin: lost years are portrayed as an "other", a contrast to our american (mike explicitly refers to himself as "american" in issue 2) protagonists. they're either violent goons for action scenes or wise, hospitable mentors for mikey to learn from, but so far we haven't seen many asian characters outside of these two roles

unfortunately i think orientalism is something thats kind of hard to avoid in a franchise like this, where its primarily non-asian, american creatives writing stories that feature asian (japanese) characters and cultures for almost 40 years running (i checked, and i think there's only one asian american working on tlr:ly as an associate editor). ideally creatives would avoid orientalism and instead treat asian characters like actual people instead of "the other", but...well. yknow. to clarify, it's perfectly fine to like tmnt, hell i'm a MASSIVE fan with a decent collection of comics on my shelf. but i think its something that we as fans should be mindful of when engaging with the source material and fan works. sorry if my explanation is a little scattered, i need to go get dinner rn haha ^^"

I've decided to not tell at this time specifically due to cultural beliefs and my position as an expat, but if this is something you want to pursue i would look into cost of living calculators to find a place that is more affordable than here, then consider things like language, culture, government etc to see where is suitable to move.

Again to be clear, a lot of people are moving to or considering my destination already so it's not like no one knows. And a lot of black ppl are leaving the US in general rn with the two biggest reasons being more affordable living and higher quality of life.

I know political problems and climate issues are global but you gotta understand the US is like... really really a shithole. It's just a fancy shithole with great press. I stand by what I said when I called it the worlds only 1st world 3rd world country. Loads of us don't have clean water or medical care, it's full of unhoused people, infant mortality rate is abysmal, birth rate is tanking, we have the most gun violence, and as if shootings weren't already a strangely American phenomenon, deaths by suicide are even higher. Add to that the fact that the government is literally imploding and has already gone full blown fascist. It's a corrupt police state oh and also it allows chemicals in body products and food that are banned in a majority of other countries.

It's...not actually unrealistic that there are better places to live.

There are also unique things to consider when it comes to the accessibility that being from America offers (which is, again, why I'm going to be fairly private about this).

There are a lot of places that are more affordable than the US. They just may vary widely on accessibility and other factors important to you.

She would probably really enjoy sweet foods. Probably things like fruits, candies and smoothies. She’s not really one for meat but she’ll still eat it, she just doesn’t like most meats. She prefers more fruit or vegetables. She’ll eat most what you put in front of her unless she really really hates it. She doesn’t really have any reason though other than ‘this taste nice :)’

She doesn’t like spicy or bitter foods like chili, brussel sprouts or peppers.

Fate is really interested in history and different cultures! She could listen too others talk about their culture/history for hours, or talk about her own. She also became really interested in Pokemon when coming to Aevium, they kinda reminded her of the Familiars from her own home but they were also different.

Math really bores her, it mainly stress her though she was never good at it. She also finds things that require a lot of patience/stillness boring. Such as fishing, meditation, chess, etc… She just can’t handle it, it’s the under stimulation.

Positive to a fault, Fate doesn’t like to be sad or upset. She hates seeing those she cares about be upset or anything negative. She also doesn’t like to think nothing but the best is going to happen. However she doesn’t want others to worry for her or annoy others with her problems. This leads her to thinking her problems aren’t as bad as others. She’s basically gaslighting herself. She hates seeing her friends upset, she doesn’t want to put them through that. Even if it negatively affects her.

🌀 Where is your OC from? Where were they born? Do they still live there, if not why did they move? If they still live in the area how has it changed since their childhood? How many places has your OC lived in and where has been their favourite?

Fate’s actually from the world of my original story! She nor Calamity are not tied in anyway to said story tho aside from being from the world. I was too lazy to think of a new world lol. I don’t have a name for the specific world (I need to get on that), but I call the story Strange World (for now I want to change it but I can’t find a better name that fits rn). I don’t know exactly where they fit into the timeline but tbh it really doesn’t matter. Given it’s a chill found family story, and Fate lived in a completely different area than from the Strange World cast. Closet thing Fate shares with them is that she too got eeby deebied like the main character, Allie lmao.

I shall now stop talking about my other ocs and actually answer the questions. Fate lived out in the country in a small village / town out in the forest. It was a very magical area, where the magic could be quite unstable at times so not many people lived there. Fate- uh obviously doesn’t live there anymore. It was pretty much where she lived her entire life though and she always wanted to explore outside of her tiny town. She however didn’t expect said ‘seeing new sights’ to involve getting sent to a whole different world.

I could literally not tell you why but I’ve always thought of Fate’s voice being a weird mix between Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie from MLP. Something upbeat and energetic but also soothing? She is a horrible singer though, loves singing but she is tone deaf as fuck she just s c r e a m s.

Honestly though, she would probably have an accent. However no one in Aevium can place her accent give she kinda from a whole different world. Fate literally had to research different regions and their voices to find the closest sounding one because people kept asking her. So she can have something to say it isn’t a good idea to say you’re from another world when someone asks.

(assuming this is in ref to my disability post) honestly there's lots of things to say this about like. seriously. yes, fuck america's disability system.

but overall i try to avoid saying things like that. for a few reasons. you didn't ask but i'll tell bc tbh i feel like it needs to be said?

first of all, america (as a country not a region, more specifically USA, but i may use them interchangeably here) is not the only country with widespread systemic issues. and there's a problem with acting like it is. (not you, anon, just ppl in general) because!! acting like the united states is the only country that perpetuates systemic violence/oppression/etc dims the light on other countries that are also perpetuating it, which lets them get away with a lot more. talk to a large handful of europeans or other white non-americans and they will more than likely not see an issue with their own countries. they condemn america while having the same systemic problems in their own region.

i am so tired rn and i never articulate well in the first place so i hope this makes an ounce of sense. pls continue to bare with me.

second, it's sooo shitty to not recognize the pure privilege we have living in america. yes, there's so many problems. but even as a person who lacks privilege in some areas — as someone is ethnically INDIGENOUS to this land (and has suffered at the hands of my ethnicity's most common oppressive problems: poverty, addiction, abuse, loss of ancestry, etc), as someone who is disabled, in poverty, plus sized, as someone with a mixed ethnicity family, lesbian — i still know that there is privilege to living here. yes, a lot of the privilege that others have here (cishet, thin, abled, wealthy white men being the really shiny example lol) is stripped from me, yeah shady stuff happens here within our government just like everywhere else, but like... for the most part, i can say things "freely" without fear (again, for the most part).

and like, with war happening in so many places... so many lives being lost... like... i'm grateful to be where i am. would i love to not be in america? somewhere with a prettier view? lively culture? sure, sounds nice. but it's not realistic and i have to be okay with where i'm at.

Update On This Bitch Ass MF

Alright, my brain is short circuiting, and I'm just screaming into the void rn so, update ahead, enter if you dare (update under cut cause it's a little liggity long)

So, you didn't know unless you were there during the "My computer didn't fucking work" era that started my big ol' hiatus, but I got a new computer (woo hoo! :D) and it was working perfectly. Emphasis on WAS. Turns out, living in the country, I'm too close to town to get to get rural wifi, which is fast as shit, and too far away to get town wifi, which is somehow even faster? Anyways, I knew of this problem when I moved into the house, but it's my family's homestead, I moved here when I was in highschool, yadiyadaya, no need for fast wifi just a couple years ago. HOWEVER! Now that I have a crazy good computer (I'm talking liquid cooled, built it myself, named it TheBeast) I need at least alright wifi, right? Well RECENTLY it's gotten WORSE! Somehow, it got worse than it already was! Which means, and keep in mind, I got petty enough to time it, but this delay in wifi has caused me to wait up to 14. WHOLE. MINUTES. Yes, you read that right: 1. 4. Obviously I'm not gonna just deal with that without, you know, being a little bitch. I have a new wifi provider that I'm going to be testing soon. Hopefully, cross your finger dear reader, I can stop waiting 14 minutes for my college work to load. Oh yeah, I got college stuff to do, specifically taking a creative class because I thought I was out of practice in writing. It's actually really helped! But, the topic, wifi, is that the new router should be here by Wednesday, and I should be able to test it out, maybe fix some errors and stuff that have been happening due to slow wifi.

So, wifi segment over. If you read this far, thanks. I really only made this because I'm frustrated af rn, so reading me type out my rage is something you didn't need to do, so thanks. BUT WAIT! THERE'S FUCKING MORE! (At least in the bad new segment, good news is at the very end, sorry!)

PAYDAY. 3. Hot topic right now, right? Well I had been tying to sign in for A FULL WEEK! SEVEN FUCKING DAYS! I did everything, like, legitimately everything, but caved at 4 days, and contacted the Nebula help line thing. Everyone was very nice, the costumer service was great, a tiny bit slow towards the end, but they had a good reason. I told them what was going on, they were very nice, accidently gave them the wrong Nebula Starbreeze account at first because I'm dyslexic as fuck, still very nice, much better than my conversation with like, the EA or Epic helplines (very long story), and eventually they got to the root of the problem. My problem was that it kept giving me a Nebula Data Configuration Error, every time I booted up the game. Tried everything, like I said earlier. They get to me 3 days after I told them all my special information and all the steps I took to try and troubleshoot on my own. You wanna know what they told me? Of course you do you've read this far. Let me preface this with the fact that I am just mad, and they were very polite about this, and the team is doing the best I can I'm absolutely sure, BUT THEY TOLD ME IT WAS SUCH A SPECIALIZED ERROR THEY NEEDED TO PATCH IT IN THE NEXT UPDATE! Now, I don't know if this was intentional, but they gave me the rough date for the update, but I don't know if it's the real big one everyone's waiting for, so I'm not going to tell you guys because I value their mysteriousness and don't want leak something that starbreeze was only telling me to let me know when to try and play the game again so that I can contact them if it didn't work. I don't know, it'd probably be super cool to be known as the user who knew when the update would come out, but it feels wrong to leak something like that if it is the correct date for the big update and stuff. So now I'm stuck, just listening to Gustavo Coutinho's fucking banner music for Payday 3 from youtube and not being able to watch the gameplay and stuff. And I heard there were cutscenes? CUTSCENES?! I am so excited to see those. WHEN I CAN PLAY THE GAME. (I feel like that one Fair Odd Parents meme omg)

Working on redesigning EVERY. SINGLE. CHARACTER. That has ever left the recesses of my mind for an upcoming comic I'm gonna try and make, once the whole wifi situation is fixed. Working on the new chapter of The Golden Tempest (I almost posted this with it's "inside name" hehe, too bad you'll never know what the files are called), and working on From the Eyes of the Payday Gang, or at least trying to. I'm thinking of doing a grocery store worker at the grocery store the Payday gang all has to take turns going to the store but whole store knows that they're all like a family or some shit because they are all idiots and all use the same car because it's not in the fucking budget to get another car, so they have the escape van and the "family car" and that's it. Holy shit that was a weird lore tangent, but anyways, comic maybe coming, Payday related content definitely coming, some more surprises and goodies in the works, so expect this account to be much more active. Today is the first day off I've in I don't know how long, but a long time, and so just expect some text stuff from me, since my computer can't apparently handle doing anything on CSP because of the wifi situation.
