i don't know if i ever mentioned his age? he's 15!

also, he’s mexican!

he has a black cat!! her name's kuro because...y'know. she's a black cat. pluto's a simple guy, alright? lol

he absolutely loves music! he likes most songs/genres, but he really enjoys vocaloid and cutesy songs (though he won't ever admit it).

a couple of his favorite songs are shama by niru kajitsu (miy_yuu's cover to be specific!) and otsukimi recital by jin.

also he knows every single lyric of renai circulation.

he has terrible posture. please help this boy. he's already 5'3". save his soul. (he's the shortest one in the main 4 ahaaa)

he supresses his emotions a lot of the time, even happiness. he doesn't wanna deal with any of that, no sir.

he's good at staying quiet. like, it's almost scary how silent he can walk across floors.

(he's spooked koko about a million times because of this. at first it was unintentional, but now pluto has some fun with it.)

he types pretty normally when it comes to texting, like;

he'll die before he uses an emoji. he's fine with emoticons like :), but he will Never use emojis.

he'd probably wear crocs. he tucks his sweatpants into his combat boots. he's a fashion disaster.

he barely listens in class, and yet he somehow always gets decent grades. koko mourns dramatically about this.

he doesn't like most coffee or tea. if he really has to, then he'll drink iced coffee. honestly? he just likes cold water.

sometimes he writes in this little pocket journal. he'll kill anyone who tries to look through it, because, y'know.

he's terrible at any physical activity, especially push ups. please, he is just a noodle.

he, of course, really digs space. it's one of his biggest interests! he's bursting at the seams to infodump, but he doesn't wanna bother anyone, y'know?

he chose the nickname pluto because he is very cool and edgy and it just kinda stuck.

he's surprisingly kind sometimes? because he's really observant, he catches on if he sees someone being...off or sadder than usual.

he'll try to just. give the person a small gift/note, and he'll run off like a dumb tsundere lol

he doesn't watch a lot of anime (or shows in general), but he really enjoys the disastrous life of saiki k (because who wouldn't?). he and koko watch it together whenever they're feeling shitty.

he's 16, but he's in the same grade(??? whatever the word is) as pluto! funky birthday tingz, y'know?

he's half indian and half filipino, which explains his last name (castillo-madan)!

anyways. in canon, he chose koko as a nickname instead of niko (though he'll def accept that nickname too) because it was a nickname that navya called him as a kid, and he just vibes with it.

(also, he wanted to avoid as many nico nico nii jokes as he can)

he watches a lot of anime! he's the reason why pluto got into vocaloid, too. he stans miku and also momo kisaragi. what a king.

he LOOOOVES the movie kimi no na wa/your name. zen zen zense is one of his favorite songs, like, ever.

his fav anime (animes?? i never know which one's right...) are mob psycho 100 and march comes in like a lion.\

he's loud and energetic and tries his best to cheer people up!! he also has owo bracelets, because he's just Like That.

he has adhd! he's trying his best.

he's very passionate about the things and people that he loves!! when he gets a new interest, it hits *hard*. he'll get absolutely hyperfixated on it.

his favorite show ever is probably avatar: the last airbender. he stans zuko and toph.

Symphogear G Episodes 09-13

In the distance, that day, when the stars became music.

Here we are! Last string of this season. I’m honestly surprised by how my thoughts about this season changed doing this rewatch, I wonder how much it’ll still change based in these last 5 episodes. Regardless of everything I’m glad, is good to know we changed. XD

We have a lot to go through so let’s go.

Episode 9 is a pretty good one. For starters, we get some answers to the questions I had on my mind from the last, so I’m very grateful for that. We also have great emotional moments with most of the cast so bonus points for that.

I especially like Chirs in this episode, from she having dinner with Tsubasa, to she being relatable character ever in that training sequence, to her moment with Hibiki when she shows her affection for her in both a harsh and lovable way. She shone in this episode like no one else and I love it.

The FIS girls also don’t get behind, in this episode it feels like each one of them is broken and divided by their personal feelings and their sense of duty while we as an audience can see that this is just Ver playing with them like puppets and it made me feel so sorry for them, I just wanna give them a hug.

There’s just one thing that I didn’t like here and it was the fact that they discovered everything about Miku way too fast. I think if we had more time to “grief” over her that moment in the end when she shows up in the Shenshoujin would be more impactful both as a plot twist and as a cliffhanger, and also more emotional to both the viewers and characters. But even with this detail I really like this episode.

Episode 10 is another great one, probably my favorite of this season.

Miku’s song is great, Shenshoujin is dope and the way it works is fantastic. Miku fighting Chirs is pretty fun, that moment Tsubasa steps in to help protect Chirs and Shirabe is just amazing, and seeing Ogawa run on top of the water just makes the whole situation even cooler.

Kirika’s side of things is probably the worst of them all. Since she didn’t tell anyone she suspects being Finé every time she mentions disappearing sounds empty because the other characters haven’t a single clue about what she’s talking, but if you put that aside it works.

But by far the best of this episode is Hibiki and Miku’s confrontment. That short conversation before they start fighting is probably one of the most honest and heartfelt conversations we had. Their battle is simple but the emotions on that combat were just so high that they didn’t need a lot to make that work. It’s probably my favorite Hibiki x Miku moment in the whole series, I just like how in here they seem to be in an equal foot with each other, there isn’t someone whos trying too much or trying too little, they both want the best for their friend and they both have the resolve to stand by their beliefs (even though Miku got a little brainwashed there) and do what they think is the correct thing to do, is truly an amazing moment.

In summary, the fights are all good, the emotional conflicts all work and the emotional climaxes work out as well. We can see the struggles of each character and how each of them has big burdens laying around their shoulders. It is a great episode.

It’d have been even better if the final scene was just Hibiki and Miku being hit by that beam, but still, it’s a very solid episode.

Episode 11 starts very weirdly, I even had to double check to make sure I was watching the right episode because of how confusing it was.

I think they've missed a scene that would serve to connect the events from the last episode to this one because everything looks very off. For starters the whole thing with Chris joining the bad guys and then all of sudden they got Miku in an infirmary bed, and while I can fill the blanks and say to myself that Chirs is plotting to destroy the Staff of Solomon and I can assume that they caught Hibiki and Miku while they were falling after being hit by the beam, I still wish that had been shown or at least been mentioned in the episode.

But after this convoluted start the episode picks itself up and it gets good, is not best and I didn’t get anything interesting to talk about but it was still good.

I said I don’t like the Finé’s successor plot, and I still don’t. But seeing glimpses of Finé taking over Shirabe in this episode was really good, I like that moment when Genjuuro is handing Shirabe’s pendant and they talk like if it Ryoko was there and not Shirabe. It's very subtle and it works very well, that was something I didn’t really pay attention to while watching for the first time. That aside though, Kirika’s whole speech, because she thinks she’s the one just, makes me tired.

One last thing that I want to mention: Ver is a disgusting character and I just wanna see him die. Like, congratulations to the writers of this show for making such a hatable villain. Gosh, this man grinds my gears. ANYWAYS...

I think Episode 12 is the one I have fewer things to comment on. Not because I didn’t like it, but because almost everything that happened here was just the culmination of some events that happened in episode 11.

Maria’s side of things was probably the saddest one, seeing her sing trying to reach out to other people and not getting a single reaction was heartbreaking.

Kirika and Shirabe battle get to end and I think I’d care more for it if I wasn’t so done with Kirika at this point. But seeing Shirabe being saved by Finé was actually pretty cool.

Tsubasa and Chris fight, on the other hand, was pretty good and it gives my favorite moment of this episode when Chris calls Tsubasa as “senpai”. It’s just so good to see how they’ve grown to like each other and see how good they work together. This is such a great friendship I love them. Also, they made Ver run away like a scared cat and took the Staff of Solomon back making him frustrated as hell so I’m happy.

Sadly my happiness went away for a little bit. Yeah, I... don’t like this finale.

They have some things that work if we look at them separately but when you put them together it feels like there’s something still missing.

Like, Maria getting in the Airgetlám for the first time is cool, I remember freaking out when the six of them got in their X-Drive and I had a similar reaction this time as well, Shirabe going full megazord mode was awesome, and I also like when Genjuuro slaps Ver in the face by saying that he won’t kill him and he’ll have to go to a trial like a normal human being instead of becoming a martyr or a hero.

But this episode loses to me because the final battle isn’t against a person, isn’t against someone who they can talk to and understand each other like in the last season, and yeah you can argue that they have chosen to do things this way to represent the Moon Ruins being activated again and that the Curse of Balal is already showing signs of being reinsured, but this doesn’t take away the fact that it made the finale lose its magic.

At the end of season one, I was heartworm and happy like I’d seen something unique with a nice message, this time the message is still there (and thank God that is, it shows they didn’t lose the essence) but because so many other things were treated with more importance if felt just like an ending any other show could pull it off in the same way.

I still love symphogear to death, but I think this season has dropped a few ranks in my favorites list.

And we reach the halfway point of this journey! I know I’ve said this before but I can’t believe I’m managing to keep up with all of this. Thank you for keeping up with me, and sorry if I thrash talked way too much. I usually go for 4-4-5 blocks but since tomorrow is Sunday I’ll try to go for 5 episodes instead of just 4, I don’t know if it’ll work out since there’s precure stuff I need to do but regardless of that I still wanna try. 1. if you could pierce somewhere other than your ears, where would it be? I always thought eyebrow piercings were cool.

2. if you could be in a movie franchise (already made or a book that should be made into a movie), which would it be? Does Pokemon count? Because Pokemon.

3. what are your feelings on bangs? Bro I absolutely adore bangs, they are so cute.

I haven’t asked it because I’m afraid of getting disowned by them if they realized I was gay.

24. did you have a teacher growing up that helped you through a difficult time? who were they? Uhhh not really? But I really loved my 7th grade science teacher, he was fun. I can’t really think of any hard times I’ve had to go through but I think my first math help teacher in high school was really kind and caring.

It feels like a very loving song and makes me believe that some people truly do care. Buuut romantic wise, Guide You Home from Spyro DotD sounds pretty romantic to me. And for familial love, I Want to Know from Kill la Kill sounds quite loving and precious.

And the secrets that I want to share have most likely already been shared. A funny one I like to share is that I used to play ACWW under the covers at night when I was supposed to be sleeping. 53. if you had the means to start a charity, what would it be a charity for? Literally anyone anywhere who doesn’t have clean water. EVERYONE should have clean water.

54. what is your favorite hairstyle for yourself? Bangs down, hair long and poofy and wavy, with small pieces of hair on either side of my face pulled back into a tiny ponytail. Bonus points if I have little baby curls popping out from underneath, which I naturally do most of the time. I wish I had the energy to curl my hair more often.

55. what is your favorite memory from being 13 years old? This is when I was in 7th grade. Ironically that was my fave year of school. I was first introduced to anime, vocaloid, cosplay, cons, and really it’s just when I first got into music forreal. Some hilarious memories I have is my friend and I ditching class to go hang out with IT who couldn’t care less that we were there. We drew on their whiteboard and talked to them about nerd things since they were also nerds.

56. what is a movie that shaped who you were as a person at a young age? Omg, Thor lol. Pretty self explanatory if you know me well.

Zero Escape taught me so many and explained them through science and made them seem totally believable (please play Zero Escape). Morphogenetic field theory is pretty cool. Basically it’s an invisible field where you can transfer thoughts to another person. There have been experiments that prove it (people ask group A what is the picture of that they show them, none of them guess right. The people tell group A it is of a dog. Then they ask group B the same question and they all answer dog. So group A sent their thoughts to group B through the morphogenetic field.) so idk I wouldn’t be surprised if it was real. Also the many-worlds interpretation. Basically it’s about how there are many timelines and parallel worlds that exist. But I guess something basic that I totally believe in is alien life. There is literally no way there isn’t another lifeform out there in the ever expanding universe. Also 9/11 was totally all done by the US to start a war to make money.

89. what is the first memory you have of oppression/discrimination? it doesn’t have to be about yourself. There was a mentally disabled kid in our class in elementary school and people bullied him all the time. I remember one time I got paired up with him in a project and everyone started laughing and I got so pissed I yelled at the whole class for being dicks to him. Also just in general the R word used to be used really often. Luckily my generation grew up being taught to never ever use that word.

91. what is a lyric that you hate? why do you hate it? There’s a song I really like that has a pretty homophobic/sexist line in it that bothers me really bad. But THE SONG SOUNDS SO GOOD AUGHHHH. The line is, “if you can’t be a man suck a fuckin’ dick”. Song is Mature Opinion (ironic I know) by Kenichiro Nishihara (but he just made the background music, the rapper is a different person). It’s so annoying because it’s exactly the type of sound I ADORE...I usually skip the line on purpose anyway.

96. how do you feel about your mother? I love my mom and I appreciate that she at least tries to be considerate of my feelings on certain political topics. She is slightly more open than my dad is about that stuff. She used to be a lost worse growing up with her anger issues, but she’s getting better. It worries the HELL out of me that she thinks being bisexual is worse than being gay or lesbian. It makes me not want to ever come out to her about my pansexuality (I’ve resolved years ago that I’d tell my parents if I ever got into a serious relationship with someone who is not a straight cis boy lol). I appreciate that my mom listens and shows interest in some of my hobbies I talk to her about. I wish she’d open up to more genres of music. I love how much she loves and cares for me, I’m pretty sure I’m her best friend. I’ll always be there for my mom when she’s grieving. The way she chews with her mouth open and talks with food in her mouth drives me up the fucking wall. I know my mom worries about me and my mental health and I am grateful for that. I love it when my mom plays the piano music I request her to play. I love it when she actually likes certain songs I listen to. I wish she’d play video games with me lol. I wish she’d care less about swearing and cleavage. I appreciate that despite growing up in an incredibly strict Christian household (literally her dad was the principal of the Christian private school they went to) she gave me a more freeing childhood and went way easier on me than her parents did on her. I wish she’d love animation and action movies more. I love how she’s always willing to help me with making my cosplay. I love doting over our cat together. Idk, I have a lot of feelings about my mom lol.

Symphogear Episodes 09-13

This is our symphony of loving each other.

Here we are, final of the first season. Boooooy, can you believe I actually pulled it off???? OOF. I hope I can keep going with the other seasons.

I have a lot to go through today so let’s not waste time stalling on an introduction! Here we go!

Not a lot happens in Episode 9. I believe this was the “calm before the storm” episode, so I don’t have a lot to say. For some reason, in my mind, this date thing happened in season 2, but I guess Koi no Okehazama being released in an S2 single messed up with my brain.

I like Tsubasa’s live, it’s not as iconic and the camerawork isn’t as good as the one from episode 1, but FLIGHT FEATHERS is one of my favorite songs so I think this makes up for it. I think more important than all of that is Tsubasa’s words after her performance, it’s touching for the viewers and shows more development on Tsubasa’s side, and all of this happening in the same venue as Tsubasa’s trauma happened makes it even more valuable. But I think what sticks with me the most is this line:

Even if we can’t understand each other’s words, if we can communicate through music, I want people all over the world to hear my songs.

As someone who’s a fan of asian music, these words mean a lot to me since often the number one argument people will bring up when I say I like some artist from the other side of the world is “do you even understand what are they singing?”. I guess I have nothing else to say, yall probably understand how I feel.

If the last episode was the calm before the storm, this one was the vicious wind that blows announcing the storm so you can run as fast as possible to take those clothes you left to dry in the sun. XD

Again, not a lot to comment here. We see the tension rising and most of the episode is dedicated to action, you can already sense the smell of the final boss. hat The highlights of this episode are the reality check Genjuuro gives to Chris that culminates with she finally joining forces with the girls, and that moment when Hibiki is being the most Hibiki possible by saying that she’s happy she doesn’t have an Armod Gear so both of her hands are free which means she can hold Tsubasa and Chirs at the same time. Honestly, this moment is so adorable, HOW TO NOT LOVE IT???

The storm is here!!! This episode was TENSE as heck. I forgot to take notes several times, so let’s see what I can remember.

First, I always thought that the revelation of Finé’s true identity would be something that would cause more shock and bring up more reactions from the characters, but neither Miku or the staff of Section 2 had a bigger response to it. As intrigued as that let me, I still love the fight between Genjuuro and Finé and BOI how powerful Genjuuro is, he was cracking a complete and activated relic with his bare hands!!! This man is a beast.

The moment when Finé reveals herself to the girls and brings Kadinger up is awesome, and also that flashback explaining thing was great for me because I completely forgot that it was a thing, I thought Ryoko was Finé since the beginning of the symphogear project, but no she just took over after the first relic was awakened (which is an information I’ll have to keep in my mind because I have a lot of chronological doubts about events that happen in later seasons).

But without a doubt, Chirs’ moment when she uses one of her missiles to reach whatever -sphere she was (I wanna say she was in the stratosphere but I’m not sure) and she sings her Superb song and shoots back directly at Kadingir’s shot is the high point of this episode, and even though she was the symphogear yielder we’ve seen the least the moment she “dies” feels very heavy and is the best way they could’ve ended Episode 11.

SIDE NOTE: That “this isn’t an anime” girl is fucking annoying. If this was a one time joke it would work perfectly, but she says this line almost EVERY TIME SHE’S ON SCREEN and it’s not funny at all. Back to our regular schedule.

Episode 12! AAAAAAAA THIS EPISODE IS SO GOOD. The way things get solved in the end is pretty “meh”, but still this is a fucking great episode.

I love the sense of despair that’s in the air at the beginning, and more importantly, I love that Finé is a smart villain who builds up a machine who doesn’t get inoperational after its first use. XD

But by far the best thing here is how freaking cool they make Tsubasa be here. I thought I couldn’t love Tsubasa more than what I already do but rewatching this episode made me remember why she’s my favorite and I wanna tattoo all of Tsubasa attacks all over my face.

Her fight with Hibiki is so nice, I love how she makes Hibiki stop, she may not know how to deal with the beast but she knows how to reach out to her friend and that’s what she does. She drops her sword, she let her defenses down so that she can be attacked, and after all that, she hugs and talks to Hibiki without moving a finger to hurt her. I love this woman.

Then her fight against Finé. Brilliant, just brilliant. She fooled Finé and fooled me as well because I didn’t think she would go to destroy Kadinger itself, gosh sometimes I love having a bad memory because reviving this moment was just so epic. OOF. She destroyed that thing all by herself. BY HERSELF. Gosh, I can’t even put in words how much I liked this whole thing. I think is time to buy a synonyms dictionary.

The ending was fine, I’m used to this kind of thing from the precure movies. It was a nice moment but not as cathartic I think they wanted to be. I think if the people were singing another song maybe it would work more for me, but then again there’s not a lot of songs known by the civilians that the could sing here instead of the school anthem so... Regardless, when Synchrogazer started playing there I got chills and I believe that’s what matters.

Marvelous episode. Just gorgeous.

Episode 12 got me out of words and 13 took out the rest of the vocabulary I had.

I used to like the first part of this episode more, but now rewatching I think I reversed my feelings towards this episode. The fight at the beginning is fine? Yes. The plan they come up to fight Finé merged with noise was clever? Absolutely. The emotional moment of people supporting Hibiki works here? It definitely does, way better than the moment of the last episode. I can’t deny that.

However,

What we get from the second part is way better. Symphogear is about different people connecting together and believing in human connections. That’s why the ending isn’t a fight against the villain, it’s a long conversation followed by an external influence.

It rubs all over your face all that goodness we all need in this world, and as uplifting as they are with their messages they still manage to keep things realistic (to some extent) by saying that not everything is all flowers. Like Chris says “Not everyone’s dreams can come true. But everyone should have the chance to try”. That’s the best ending we could get.

This show has its flaws, but it gives warmth to the heart and they have things to say. Go watch Symphogear. I can’t say for the other seasons, if you read my other reviews I think that’s clear that my memory is kinda shitty, but at least give it a chance to the first one. It’s a wonderful show, and I’m so thankful that I made this blog so I could have something to encourage me to go back and rewatch it.
