Maybe I just need an older brother to bully me and shove his cock in me and tell me that I was *made* for him. That I'm nothing but his perfect cock sleeve that mom and dad made for me.

if it isnt too sensitive a topic, would you be willing to talk about your grandfather? were studdying his work in my collage course and id like to know more about what role he played in your life
Tumblr media
Hrmm. Well... I suppose I can appreciate the interest and how you've come to me as the best source, instead of haughty old historians that have written some silly books you might've read, who may dare claim they know as much about my grandfather as I do or feel they have anything interesting or valuable to say!
Tumblr media
Now that the thought of all of you on that course learning about him through such ridiculous means is getting me all riled up, I feel like I can't NOT say anything now.
Tumblr media
I never met him, I was born a little too late for that. It wouldn't have been possible as he spent most of his final years stationed in a top secret research center in space and they weren't letting just anyone up there without a good reason. MY reason obviously should've been a good one and if they wouldn't have thought so, they'd be wrong!
Tumblr media
If only I could've been the one on the ARK with the honor of learning directly from the man himself, instead of that other member of the family who took it for granted because as far as I know, she didn't even want to be a scientist, so she was around all that knowledge and opportunity and never even took advantage. Ugh.
Tumblr media
Anyway. For as long as I can remember, he was a part of my life, through the words of others. Being the greatest scientist of his time and therefore the most important and notable member of the family at the time, naturally he was going to be the common subject!
Especially being that I was lucky enough to be born as the son of his son. That's something I was proud of from the moment I learned, as early as I became an actual sentient being with thought. Which was earlier than the development of your average child of inferior intelligence, by the way!
So of course, I was immediately fascinated. His long, impressive, successful career as a scientist, making many groundbreaking advancements in the world of science and always striving to accomplish more immediately became one of my greatest fixations.
My father's past and business was such a bore in comparison, even if it did end up becoming useful to me later as a source of income for me to get myself off the ground and pursue better, far more interesting and valuable things. Anyway, let's not get too off topic here.
Tumblr media
Naturally, I wanted to learn more about my grandfather in any way I could, through reading about as many of his recorded ventures and accomplishments that were made available to the public and that I could access.
A lot of it was from the news and much older books than later published garbage out there today. I was very precise and careful with my sources, only getting them from those who got their information directly, observed his work themselves and the most important and valuable of all, the things that were published by himself!
This was only as much of what was revealed to the public about his work, mostly pre-the-ARK-type-stuff because they obviously weren't sharing any of the top secret operations going on up there to the outside world. I didn't get any more access to it than anyone else, though I certainly would've deserved it.
I also had a more personal look into him with a couple of photos, though not as many as I wish. Most were from being a parent to my father and uncle but the rare few outside those fascinated me most. He had also written letters to my father, though they were quite a bit older because contact was very rare.
They didn't tell me as much about what he was getting up to on the work side of things but I was interested in learning about the person he was too. I'd perk up whenever I did find him mentioning or at least alluding to things he was working on. Or the rarest but most valuable parts of him documenting a day or two of life!
Tumblr media
It wasn't that long until I learned of his passing. I didn't know the details, nobody told me and now I understand that it's because they didn't really know themselves, obviously, but I just assumed it to be because of old age at the time. I was disappointed that it sealed the fact that it was absolutely impossible for me to ever meet him.
Tumblr media
Anyway, then I got access to some of his lecture tapes! I'd try to put myself there and imagine that I was his student as I watched. It really did feel like learning directly from him, the closest I could get to the real thing. It was very informative in a few areas I was interested in and very inspiring. I still hold a lot of valuable knowledge from them today.
There was nobody else in this family I felt connected to the same way. He was my hero for being a man who was passionate and devoted to science and made a name for himself by leading an impressive successful life, making an impact and being praised for his brilliance worldwide. I wanted the same! To be recognized and hailed for my own intelligence and potential I already started to recognize in myself at a young age.
He helped me realize my passion and who I wanted to be, I knew I needed to be a brilliant scientist too! If he could do it and become so famous and renowned, so could I! Finally, people would focus on and talk about me in the way they really should, remember my name and hail me for my genius and skill as I deserve! He gave me the hope and the desire to work hard and achieve my goals.
And so I started setting my own goals and trying to create my own things. I wanted to be a great scientist just like him but of course I had to eventually stray from the trail of his footprints and take my own path, to prove my independent genius and potential. It allowed my intelligence, knowledge, and experience to continue to expand. And look where I am today, now I'm the greatest scientific genius of all time!
But decades later we would cross paths again when I recovered his diary. I was thrilled to get my hands on something so precious and valuable and finally learn from him on truly the deepest most personal level, where I'd learn about the research facility and a top secret project he was working on and decided to get some use out of it!
That didn't quite go as planned in the end and I ended up finding out things I wish I hadn't as he'd planned to destroy the world, including his own grandson... To find out after all those years that the very person you held such deep admiration and idolization for was almost the one who caused your destruction... I don't want to talk about this any more.
Tumblr media
Well, there you go. Some information from someone much more knowledgeable and actually equipped to speak on the matter.

hiiii i’d love to hear your thoughts on the hiatus revisionist history if you feel comfortable sharing :^)
ouhhh yeah ofc ill try not make this too long cause its not like groundbreaking nor like complicated yk i honestly just think both when they say they were still friends AND never spoke are both true statements like... 3-ish years IS a long time, especially for two guys who spent. nearly 10 years together almost Constantly yknow? so...
a lot can change and shift in those 3 years. if we look at like... the lead up to the hiatus you can definitely see patrick be a lot more distant with pete (except for a few examples that are like... oh ok you weirdos made up for a week huh) and its obviously from all the tension and just, natural drifting cause of that tension and then the start of the hiatus i really think they did not speak much at all, both because of the grieving of the "loss" of the band and the anger that grieving would fuel, etc. like even if they always thought it was always an hiatus, theyre dramatic, if they dont do it anymore for any length of time its like the end of the fucking world <3 so start of hiatus i feel like, they did not speak and that was when patrick would like... not return calls to pete, or talk to him much, he probably was fully in like... trying to gather together stuff to make his solo projects and we all know patricks just MIA when hes in creating mode, and he was 100% using that to deal with the "loss" of fob, we then get to pete's divorce and i feel like around this time they wouldve reconnected a bit again but maybe after a bit of back and forth (eg the "what do u want" text bit), a good example of them reconnecting in some form would be pete suddenly bringing out his stump club shirt in 2011 like a month after his divorce
Tumblr media
i feel like because of his divorce and ofc patrick being around for all of his relationship with ashlee, they would have reconnected in a time that pete wouldve needed comfort and familiarity and it had been over a year since the hiatus started so the initial grief and anger wouldve 100% died down and i feel like this is when pete would have said like. you dont even know my son, etc, like patrck was also at petes place for a good chunk of time in april 2011 which is only shortly after pete brings out that shirt, however, some shit happened after this that we literally have no clue What and they kinda fall out again, maybe not fully like what happened at the start of the hiatus but definitely a falling out again (eg patrick saying in zane lowe "i thought we were [fine] but then you--") and fast forward then to all THAT stuff with SP being redone and redone way more angrily and then we get to death of a pariah and it kinda really makes them reconnect but like... less to do with familiarity (repeating the cycle of how they got into a tension-filled mess that resulted in the hiatus in the first place) and more to do with, lets rebuild, lets do this different, lets go back to our roots and do it to create again, lets go back and relearn what made us best friends in the first place and we can really... really see that, i wont show it but the leaked picture of pete and patrick at patricks wedding in 2012 really shows the like, rebuilt relationship i think, the youthful joy again that just wasnt there on the lead up to the hiatus nor in patricks depression-filled frenzy with SP and then. well. it kinda just never broke after that, amen. so basically. yeah they both WERE still friends/considered the other their friend but also they probably didnt like each other much/didnt want to see the other for at least TWO chunks of time during the hiatus until the Actual Healthy Reconnection circa early 2012-ish where they dont just reconnect in a way they were used to but instead in a way that was to rebuild from the ground up. this part is a little speculation cause im not pete nor patrick but i feel like because patrick normally isnt that explosive and open about his mental health, pariah just kinda forced the both of them to REALLY talk, because, patrick had put it all out there, there was no taking it back, pete now knew how patrick felt and well. as patricks biggest hypeman he couldnt let that go and it just forced patrick to just fucking talk about how he felt for once, which allowed pete to recontextualise shit and also heal from shit which in turn let him help patrick heal a bit, esp with those early songwriting hang outs p2 had, which then in turn made patrick more open to asking how joe felt which allowed joe to feel happy to come back to fob which in turn rebuilt fall out boy. etc. yeah. anyway hi. i love to ramble

By far, the hardest thing I've experienced writing a long fic is being able to tell if a chapter is still following the overall narrative thread. It gets so much harder to weigh what belongs when so. much. has already happened. My deleted scenes doc is about to be long enough to be its own story 🙃
And I know this isn't unique. Stuff needs to happen before bigger stuff can happen, and its forgivable if that stuff isnt groundbreaking. But it sure would be nice if I didn't have to write the same scene three times before realizing that it doesn't belong!!!

house of leaves thoughts. also if anyone cares i did end up liveblogging a lot on the post about a check mark
i think the weird gaps in the chapter (section?) titled "holloway" r representative of the way the darkness in the house kind of like. eats at things. it eats the buttons off coats and bits and pieces of the explorers' markers. it ate holloway and now its eating his chapter. this isnt like a groundbreaking thought i just kind of was thinking maybe zampano wanted to censor this section somehow? i think i was thinking of johnny's description of it being as tho ash fell onto the pages lol. anyways. an idea 👆🕳
another thought it i like that this note of the minotaur is shaped vaguely like a bulls head 🐮👍👍👍👍👍 ive been doodling minotaurs lately but i dont know how i would feel if there turns out to be a physical creature living in the (darkness of the) house. minotaur or otherwise. i think its easy to hunger for answers but the vague existence of anything at all in the halls is also intriguing plus it keeps you Thinking about what is going on...
ummm i did like the discussion on the differences between the minotaur/labyrinth myth and the navidson record. like what would navidson's shameful burden be, and if he didnt create the labyrinth than who did? stuff like that. fascinating ::-)
this book is buried under layers and layers of unreality. its hard to remember this is All One Fiction Novel and not a coalescing of so many different authors.

listen, you dont have to like genloss, but you gotta learn more about the shit youre critiquing.
First of all, theyre streamers. of course the acting isnt gonna be great. ranboo specifically said he preferred being behind the scenes as well. this isnt hollywood. its twitch. (not to mention there were legitemate in universe reasons for them acting like that)
also, afaik, it wasnt backed by misfits??? they said they paid for it himself on his most recent stream. no sponsors or anything either.
if youre gonna make a whole account shitting on someones passion project, at least know what youre on about. dont just make up shit to get mad about.
its literally a freely available horror series on the internet. if it was something from disney or wb then id understand where you were coming from. but its not.
lastly, and most importantly, dont main tag. fans dont wanna see this shit. youre just gonna upset people.
i understand where you're coming from 100% man. the biggest problem a lot of people have is that this was hyped up so much for two years as like, a groundbreaking project that's never been done before. and we got some cool stuff for sure! but it fell short of expectations for a lot of people.
also idk why you're bringing up the funding, i don't think that's been brought up in any of my posts (and good for him for paying for it all! it's cool it's self funded and he was able to do that at such a young age!)
you're right, it's not from a big corporation. but this has been hyped for two years and talked about so highly it was bound to fall short sometimes. if it hadn't been so hyped up and advertised as such an impressive story i wouldn't have half the problems i do. its the fact we've known about this for two years and expectations were built that weren't reached.

I remember people were very happy with all female characters in JJK too, but then it kinda uh, what even happened to them? All the interesting stories they sort of started are now god knows where, they're as flat as cardboard at this point, and we're kinda far into the series. Maki’s arc could've been so much better, but it all felt dragging to me at this point. It was in the middle of that other storyline that I was much more invested in, so jumping to whatever Maki was doing felt weird, but it's only how I saw it.
I honestly think JJK was overhyped; it carried itself very strongly all the way to Shibuya arc, then the anime helped a ton, and then given into account gege’s condition, the series started to drag. It also did introduce very cool female charas but then ultimately didn't do anything groundbreaking with them. Nobara was killed off, Maki’s arc being warped around that psycho guy, etc. I might not always agree with hori’s depiction of the girls but ye at least they do stuff and play actual important roles. Ochako gets so much hate but she's a solid character at least. Though I don't like compare the two. But yeah
honestly i never really understood all the hype around jjk girls... like they're written ok, but maybe its just personal preference bc i didnt like any of them that much... nobara was fine, maki was fine... but they all feel very same-y. which isnt a bad thing if its gege's type, but i like there to still be variety in characters yknow.
and yeah, a lot of untouched potential.. i mentioned it a while back, but even until recently yuki was a pretty wasted character - stated to be of the strongest grade yet we saw nothing from her until now, and even then while shes able to stand up to geto w help she still got kinda stomped from what i can tell lol. and given we're likely in the midway/second half point of jjk's story as a whole.. its not a good first showing imo
even the animation is kinda overhyped for jjk. i dont like the filter they use over some fights. its all bc of jjk and csm that people want mappa to animate everything... and some of the stuff is done really really well, but it really set some sort of "standard" for most anime fans on how shows should look regardless of schedule.

in your opinion what’s ur top 4 worst dc writers and top 4 worst marvel writers (and maybe top writers too for both?)
even writers i'd put at the top i have issues with sometimes or im not willing to commit to them being good for the future i dont wanna get too friendly w these bitches
tbh most writers write for both marvel and dc (and other stuff) so theres only rly one list and it’s more than 4 because i’m jessie, 25, and i never learned how to shut the fuck up
frank miller - has wronged me personally as well as just. being a bad person and that showing in his writing
dan slott - will see a spiderman franchise doing perfectly fine, ask who is going to fuck this up for the rest of time? and not wait for an answer
grant morrison - just never seems to care about the history of the character theyre writing. like there's jsut no substance because they pretty much do whatever they want regardless of the consequences
charles soule - has wronged me personally. writes comics for years and fails to convince me even once that he likes the character
scott lobdell - just. a fucking idiot. just dumb as all fuck w the atrocious choices he makes in his writing. an honest to god moron
dc: tom king - just writes in circles whist thinking he's saying something profound. he isnt
chuck austen - makes some balls to the walls insane choices no one asked for. sees a woman, fuckin floors it. yes she hulk SHOULD fuck juggernaut and anyone who disagrees doesnt understand redemption
bendis - just. wildly shifts from writing good shit and then some absolute nonsense. often tries to take established characters in new directions and it WORKS sometimes ie daredevil identity reveal but other times its a shitshow ie mcu tinged guardians
brian azzarello - edginess isnt a skill. i would know
favourites that i like but exist eternally on thin ice
mark waid - basic action superhero genre shit w a real intelligence and thoughtfulness which is what makes comics more than just silly little picture books sometimes
ed brubaker - has a classic spy brand throughout all of his books without it being repetitive or boring or out of place
ann nocenti - really DEVELOPS her characters. no character shes ever written has been the same at the end of her run. you believe that theyre really gone through some shit
greg rucka (elektra vol 2 notwithstanding. i do not perceive it) - just fuckin. GOOD honestly. innovative stories without the need for continuity events, care about what hes writing
peter milligan - this is a me thing i think. i just find his writing kinda comfy. ive read elektra vol1, justice league dark vol 1, xstatix more times than i can count. theyre nothing universe changing or groundbreaking and they dont really matter in the grand scheme but i have Fun. his red lanterns book give me bleez content. i owe him my life
john byrne - his superman stuff has real like. soul. and u cant write superman without it. ppl talk about frank miller ~~~~defining batman or daredevil or whatever but byrne's superman is what Defining a character looks like imo

Star Trektrospective:Star Trek IV the Voyage Home
Tumblr media
Next on our look at the Star Trek movies ,one of the most sucessful Trek films until the 2009 reboot
Plot : James Kirk (William Shatner ) and his crew are in trouble but when Earth is threatened by a probe, using a Klingon Bird of Prey ,Kirk and co go back in time to retrieve the only species that can communicate with the probe :Humpback whales
So I have grown to really enjoy this film ,I honestly think it is a very enjoyable romp, and is one of the best films in the series .....Which is weird for me ,cause by all accounts, I should despise this film ,cause on paper it sound unappealing to me:A time travel heist comedy and well 1.I am not a heist film guy 2.Humor in Trek has always been a mixed bag 3.I watch Star Trek to see people in the future doing future stuff 4. I find fish out of water humor grating ....Which just shows how good this movie is ,and really that most premises can work if executed well
However before I praise the movie,I nedd to point out the one thing that doesnt work .....And also preface it by saying this :I am a big beliver in "Suspension of disbelief " ,I dont really need explinations for every little thing ......That said I think the probe, which is the main antagonist of the movie is kind of too absurd even for me . Its a big tube that will destroy the eath unless it hears some whales .Now it intentionally mysterious ,and I get the practical angle :The movie isnt about the probe, its about saving the whales, and the probe is just a way to get the plot moving ,give a sense of danger......But on the other hand it is so vague ,I cant help but ask question that I know dont really matter. Also it makes the moral kind of odd when you think about it : Save the whales or a tube will kill us all .However the probe doesnt matter that much ,and the rest of the film is so good it doesnt bother me
But lets get into stuff I like ,which includes the message of svaing the whales.Director Leonard Nimoy clearly cared about this topic and used the film to spotlight the issue in an entertaining way
Now Leonard Nimoys strength as a director is really his sense of fun and character which is to say this film works because the characters work . Somethiung my good friend @metropolitan-mutant-of-ark pointed out is our heroes are super confident,so ya never feel embarassed watching them even when they are the fool .I also like that they are trying to blend in enough ,but its not that much of a priority ,so they arent over the top wacky but the right amount of odd to be funny .Also like that the film doesnt go for the cheap joke :Checkov iscaught by American military during the cold war.....But they dont dismiss him as a Soviet spy and instead think he is just a crazy guy(Well actually they use another term that hasnt aged well ).Also no worrying about "Changing the timeline" ,when they give the formula for a groundbreaking invention to a guy in exchange for some help ,they just dismiss their worries as "Eh maybe this guy invented it " ,that is so refreshing .Also the film is just funny, from Spock and Kirk meeting a punk to Bones balking at 20th century medicine
LEts get into the cast :Veteren actor Robert Ellenstein is pretty excellent as the Federation Council president .WE also have the always great Brock Peters lending a sense of authority to the character of Admiral Cartwright ,though sadly he is mostly an expositionary character here, though in Star Trek 6 his role is a bit meatier .Our main guest character of the movie is Gillian Taylor played by the very talented Catharine Hicks ,a whale biologist who looks after two whales ,George and Gracie ,who becomes an allie to Kirk, and has a cute semi romance with him though it doesnt go anywhere and honestly thats kind of refreshing .I think Hicks does an excellent job,I like that she realizes something is off about Kirk and Spock....And when Kirk tells her he is from the future.....She isnt pissed off or calling him crazy,,,,,She is more just amused ,like she still doesnt believe him but she is like"OK now I am just intrigued wherte this is gonna go ".My favorite character however is the Klingon Ambassador played by John Shuck ....Oh god I LOVE this lunatic ,John Shuck is giving it his all as this ranting and raving ambassador who wants Ki9rks head. When I first saw this and the way Shuck performed it ,I thought he was the villain .....But no he is just some guy ,and I love that .The Klingon Ambassador is so over the top I love him ,hes in his own movie and I am so glad he came back in Star Trek 6
We also have Robin Curtis returning as Saavik ....Only to leave the franchise forever.Jane Wyatt returns as Spocks mother Amanda from the original series in a solid scene, but of the returning guest stars the best is Mark Lenard as Sarek,Spocks father, who gets a strong opening scene standing up to the Klingon ambassador ,and a sweet scene with Spock
What really makes the film work is the main cast .Nimoy has worked with these guys for years ,knows their strengths and uses them to their best abilities .The one who gets the short end sadly is George Tekai ,but that was due more to bad luck of his sub plot falling apart .Nichelle Nichols and Deforest Kelley are good as always ,but I think the scene stealers are Waler Koning (Who gets the funniest scene where he is asking random people on the street where the Nuclear Vessels are ) and James Doohan ( Who pretends to be a brilliant professor in order to get free plexi glass and ya get to see him hanging out with Bones which is fun ).Spock gets a good ark as he isnt all himself due to his resurrection and gets back in touch with his human side .I also think this might be William Shatners best performance in the Trek movies, not his boldest or most dramtic ,but he has such a gift for comedy and the dinner scene between him in Catharine Hicks is so excellent
One minor thing I like about the film is the federation scenes ,I like seeing the various aliens and creatures that are apart of the federation,it really gives the feeling of multiple worlds joined together
I also think this is the Trek film with the most impressive special effect:The whales! The film does NOT use real whale, they are mechanical ,and I had no clue they were till last year
OVerall this is a cozy film, the Trek film to watch when you just wanna have fun
@ariel-seagull-wings @metropolitan-mutant-of-ark

i dont wanna join the discussion too late but i read all that eddie stuff and literally im so relieved other ppl feel this way and i have so much to say abt it. so many things sucked this season anyway akshdkjsd but i will NEVER understand the fandom. they have so many incredible characters to pick from. eleven played by the incredible millie bobbie brown, lucas who has one of the most compelling personalities when others dont have a personality at all and max who has so many interesting dynamics with everyone including him, will who was unfortunately reduced to being a sad gay boy but is STILL such a good character, ROBIN who is probably neurodivergent and canonically a lesbian. also about max - she's a morally gray character which is never seen. she didnt save billy because he didnt deserve to be, and there are characters that are just so lame and plain and "the good guys" like h*rry p*tter saving draco in that one fire scene. max isnt just a bland hero, which is even groundbreaking for a character. but nope. they go with steve and eddie the white guys and ship them and uggggh. someone said people would ship jonathan and argyle if they were considered more attractive and ITS TRUE. people will ship anything. they used to ship billy and steve but not these guys? its weird. man, even murray is a more interesting character. going back to the max thing, you have peter parker, another white guy, and ppl freaking out over how he wanted to kill that guy in nwh. im telling you, its groundbreaking, but they'll ignore interesting stuff in characters who arent cute white boys 🙄🙄
don't worry about it! and OOF EXACTLY thank you for the hp comp like that's exactly what i h8 abt people's obsession with these bland yt men. i swear fandoms have not progressed in some regards like so many of them are stuck in the 90s/2000s but instead of that decade's yt man we have this decade's yt man. nothing else has changed. women and poc are still discarded and minimized and villified regardless of their role in a story; the actors playing them are STILL sent d*ath threats for... doing their job? existing? and it's so tiring and sickening honestly. lucas and max and el and robin and even will are wonderful characters who are genuinely engaging to watch; at a surface level there are already so many fascinating things to analyze about them and all of them are played by capable actors. i truly am sad that people don't give them the credit they deserve. and the same goes for so many other fandoms with those same issues.
i'm generally not a fan of shipping and i'm not as into it the way a lot of people are. like i have my few romantic pairings that i like and that's about it, i'm not that intense about it. but that's me! i know everyone else has their preferences and they're absolutely free to like what they like, but it's a problem when people start gatekeeping and almost force others to like the ships they like, especially when those ships are typically comprised of canonically cishet white men. it takes the fun out of shipping and the joy out of watching a show or film. it takes the conversation and filters out what should be engaging and distills it to something so lacking of substance. the st problem just speaks to that larger issue imo, and it's very concerning to me that in 2022 fandoms still haven't moved beyond it - if anything, it's gotten worse.

anyway uhh jokes and the mayhem aside i am. not looking forward to the eminent discourse and the hsr vs genshin situation flaring up again thanks to W + ratio incident.
(ensuing ramble dont mind me)
and like. for me im kinda like? idk not distraught enough to call myself torn or anything but it sure is a bit of a Huh moment to look at the way hsr operates w the community and all compared to genshin.
btw i have no like great morsels of wisdom here im just word vomiting some thoughts lmao
but like. logically (or should i say. rational- *GUNSHOT*) and purely from i guess the "hoyo" slash business pov. its 2 different games from different teams that belong to different genres and operate in vastly distinct environments in terms of like. competition and player retention. a turn based game like hsr isnt the kind of like. groundbreaking juggernaut that genshin was and is to this day (like. the famous "genshin killers" wya lmao). so to a certain extent at least its like. i can see how it affects this stuff i guess. genshin to this day hasnt felt the true pressure and need to care abt the community the way hsr is clearly angling more for.
but also imagine genuinely whiteknighting the genshin side of things to just settle for that excuse alone WDJWJKJWDKWD no fucking way 💀 like. that is Not the point im making at all. bc there comes a certain point where its just. yeah theres arguments to be made abt how the games differ and how hsr incentivizes pulling for and makes more new 5* charas and has no open world so needing to distribute f2p pulls thru other means is a must etc etc etc. but theres a point where that just falls flat.
and while i do agree the genshin community can strike up shitstorms that are more about outrage than anything substantial like. first anniversary with google classroom and all of that being a good example. but having Been there. while it was taken too far at points the reality of that saga always was about the cumulative community feeling hitting its breaking point. it was a lot of things accumulating and piling up in terms of frustration that led up to that 2.1 meltdown and honestly hoyo can only blame themselves. no need to relive that one too much my point just is that while for me (at least for now) im not feeling any of that like. deep hollow disappointment at realizing genshin will never truly beat (and arguably, i dont rly think its ever wanted to) the allegation of. the hsr team just being allowed much more freedom in terms of fostering goodwill w the community and stuff. i can still genuinely understand if this ratio thing for hsr ends up becoming another final straw for that feeling to rise up again for some genshin players. bc just like 2.1 this too is a cumulative thing. hsr is getting new gamemodes. constant massive QoL. freebies and limited-time events with permanent story and gameplay content. responding to and addressing tons of player complaints. genshin is... attempting some QoL? a tiny bit? like its just a whole situation.
and that feeling genuinely sucks. obviously dont attack random people like the cast or minor devs with no executive power or google classroom. or fuel this whole hsr vs genshin tribalism thats apparently athing. thats so stupid. fuck off. if i see another assassination attempt on dawei bc of hsr getting free fucking ratio i dont even know what to say 💀
but still its easy to be all "wow entitled terminally online gacha players" and yeah that can be true but i also dont like reducing all of that long term resentment from unaddressed complaints and issues and tiny disappointments accumulating over time for people who very much love genshin and want to be able to love it even more. to just like. haha greedy people want freebies. ofc hoyo doesnt owe us shit its a company and even with hsr this generosity shouldnt be turned into some parasocial "oh theyre on our side" thing. its just two games that want to make money. genshin and hsr both.
but it still sucks that theres such a discrepancy. and as long as ur not being toxic about how and when u express it i think that feeling is completely fair and valid. its not nice being passionate about a game and its potential while investing time and possibly money into it and still getting treated like shit year after year just bc genshin is still too successful to be forced into caring about us peasants lmao. venting and memeing and even sending appropriate complaints to hoyo are all fair game to me lmao. go wild
tho i will have to say that i do think the ultimate antidote to that feeling of disapppointment in particular imo still consists of touching grass like. its not good to be overtly attached to this stuff on an emotional level. i get why people would end up in that position esp given how genshin literally started during quarantine and was a massive source of comfort and joy in incredibly tough times for so many (myself included). but still. hoyo is simply not ur friend and ultimately its still just a couple of gacha games. finding other sources of happiness and comfort is v important. but being affected by this baseline isnt an individual failure or something wildly unreasonable at all.
for me im not too emotionally affected or anything but i cant deny this thing does have me thinking a good bit. as someone who naturally gravitates more towards genshins open world and its style of worldbuilding and aesthetic and its characters so even if i do enjoy hsr overall its just. a bit of a bitter taste u get in the mouth from all of this.
im not interested in discoursing on this or even like. protesting against hoyo particularly bc its clear that the genshin team has chosen its stance on the matter and i doubt another incident will really sway them much. the push will need to come from elsewhere if things are to ever change. im happy to get these freebies in hsr and i hope the game continues evolving and getting better bc it sure does have its flaws too. and the same for genshin. in a way a lot of the good in hsr is due to the hindsight 20/20 from genshins pitfalls and problems too (as well as arguably the literal sink or swim hsr faced from the poor reception to aspects of 1.0-1.3). unfortunately i doubt genshin would have the guts or be given the resources to retroactively address and fix those very same things in their own game. which is a shame.
anyway i dont have any particular point im going for with this i suppose i just wanted to get these silly thoughts off my chest. L + ratio to W + ratio was hilariously iconic and im still incredibly hype for all these things hsr has given us to look forward to even if the discrepancy with genshin does cast a shadow over this a bit. and i still love genshin and will keep playing it and keep hoping it can improve over time and get better. ultimately i care less about free ayaka at AR 42 becoming reality because "ratio hsr!!!1!1" than the devs genuinely investing the time and effort needed to make this game all the things it has the potential to be going forward. but im not holding my breath.
so yeah. if u stuck all the way with this whole situation u get a sticker. many thoughts in the head and you people following me are stuck with them im afraid JKJKDWJKWDJKDW

i do think the max0r videos are funny but i completely understand thats not for everyone. humor is subjective and i havent played any of the games he makes videos about and i get that if you like something and want to share the love then a guy low-key or high-key making fun of the game isnt what youre up for
its just dumb because those things all have the same game tag so yt assumes thats what you want
algorithms are a plague upon mankind
suddenly lucilius is making a lot of sense
i genuinely don't know the guy so i'm not judging him on his content and all honestly
but ff15 is overhated ever since its releases and you cannot say anything positive about this game without hate coming your way because people need to complain
the screenshot was just because it happened to be this one video coming my way, but it's not the only video that does that. Every single time i rewatch a sad scene from ff15 i get hundred of videos rec about "here's why ff15 was a massive disappointment" "here's why ff15 sucks" "here's why ff15 was so bad"
so i have genuinely no reason to give any second of the day to another creator popping up on my recommendation telling me ff15 is bad, even if it's to make an humorous point. Like wow........ you think ff15 is bad..... so groundbreaking...... you're truly a free thinker...... no one ever had this opinion in their lives before....... as if there hasn't been constant content about how bad ff15 is those past 8 years.... as if ff16 didn't do its whole communication on "we're not going to be bad like ff15 🥰".... truly your opinion on it is very unique and i'm sure will bring a totally new light on the game....... you convinced me 8 years later.....
it wouldn't piss me off nearly as much if it wasn't for the fact that hearing all those negative takes on the game genuinely had me stall if for years because it turned me off from it, only to give it a shot after i dreamed about it out of nowhere (this happens a lot with me, fictions show up in dreams begging me to pay attention to them and who i am to deny it), and despite coming in expecting all the flaws i've heard about, i had such an emotional journey with this game that really little game can properly compare to that it genuinely pissed me off even more that i even gave a second of credit to the mass mob blowing up the flaws of the game to the point of ignoring the way it still is a beautiful game, even if it's a flawed one.
so you can imagine on my hand, just looking out for some scenes that really impacted me on youtube, to just have Youtube telling me "huh... but don't you know the game is bad? here, let me show you. the game is bad. why are you crying. We said it's bad. Here's a funny video about why it's bad. because it's really ridiculous you're crying really. don't you know the mass is always right." like god.
but i'm all with you on the fact algorithm are a fucking plague and it's really just very annoying when you're into something that's like vaguely controversial because you can't just be enjoying it in your corner. Algorithm will be so desperate to feed you more stuff to keep you hooked on the platform it'll just throw you things that drive engagement. And negativity engages people more than positivity.
Anyway i've always been team "Lucilius is right" (my only issues with Lucilius is how he treats his primals, aside from that i'm totally 100% supportive of his motivation that both god and the world suck)
but istg i have this long beef with Youtube on that regard (you'll notice the post i reblogged to add the screenshot is from 2021, in which i was complaining about something i was already experimenting for years). This is not a small term irritation. It's been my nemesis for too long. this is a burning hate that will never waver. they made me this way.

I’ve seen some people complaining that Harry’s outfit was “disappointing” and “underwhelming” or whatever, and it is really sad to see that, cause his outfit was actually really on-theme - camp is not meant to be something specific or expected, it relies on being unexpected and in-your-face enough to make other people look twice but also representing the identity of whoever’s wearing the piece in a way that person feels comfortable with.
If you compare Harry’s look to Billy Porter or Ezra Miller it will obviously look understated since their outfits are very dramatic and over-the-top and even theatrical, and I’m not complaining cause they look fabulous!
However, if you take a look at (to give an example of a straight man who actually followed the theme) Darren Criss’ outfit... it looks a lot like what we’ve seen Harry wear on stage. And it fits the theme, cause stage!Harry is very very camp and flamboyant, loudly enough that people see that as his default, the masculine pieces with bright details and strong lines. So, that’s what was expected from him.
As co-chair he needed to surprise, but stay inside the overall theme - and going for the glitter, the sequins, the drama was the obvious option. But as his stylist says in the interview they gave, that was not Harry, that was not inside his off-stage comfort zone and wouldn’t have represented him in a way that felt... him. So, they went with the not so obvious choice, and focused on the details. I’m not sure who else could’ve pulled that whole outfit off, and that’s the point! This is Harry experimenting with his style to fit his personality and identity - going from his previous very masculine style with a few feminine details to this very genderfluid, almost feminine look. With it he is showcasing a very delicate and elegant side of camp in contrast to the other host’s neons and feathers and ruffles. It is supposed to make you challenge your conception of what camp is, that’s the whole point.
PS; if you are honestly grouping this look with the horde of cishet men that dared to go to the fucking MET GALA in black suits with the tiniest detail and called it “camp”, I hope you get new glasses cause you are not seeing right.
