Me about rdr2: This became my entire fucking life for a good couple of months. I would play it for 7 hours straight without getting up because I would forget I needed basic things like food and water. I researched all the lore three times over and I would become so overwhelmed at how good this game was that I would randomly want to cry. It made me so so excited every single day and gave me so much happiness and then. It stopped??? It was as if not long after I learned everything, the extreme obsession over it died. Something I felt like I couldn’t live without is now something I CAN. I don’t feel the need to engage in anymore. Like at all. I still love the game and I will always cherish it but. It’s not the same as it was before.

“this was a bit more abstract but i always found the chase scene to be something like arthurs ‘final judgment’ and punishment. after all that time lewis had concluded that arthur shouldnt have been, and wasnt part of the gang. he wasnt ‘one of them’ anymore and had to be discarded.”

because i love one of us, the song, a lot. and i really think in the context of msa it should be a song between lewis and arthur. it could also be lewthur if you push it but theres no romance involved in what im aboutta say

rant starts now (theres a TLDR too)

“are you one of us?”

this kinda goes with the drawing prompt, but like its a given that arthur was searching for lewis, and vice versa. and i feel like after actually finding each other and conflict arising, the fact that they were both outcasts of the gang for separate reasons was more obvious. arthur was outcast because of his anxieties and guilt of the cave incident, while lewis is outcast for. well. being dead and filled with uncharacteristic rage. that judgement idea up top is important for lewis’ side, but i also find arthurs unsure, terrified, yet resolute search for lewis also resonating with that lyric. he still really wants things back to normal too, he wants lewis to be one of them again, while lewis had firmly concluded that arthur was not one of them

“i know that this sounds crazy. waitin’ for this moment, can you see me?”

ok i lied this song is related to vivi too. this is lewis talking to vivi, and i feel the best comparison i could make would be that moment in the mansion where lewis stops attacking in front of her, and vivi is on the cusp of grabbing his anchor, the heart. lewis knows this whole situation is crazy to her. that hes her boyfriend, that arthur killed her boyfriend, that, in his eyes, arthur is a horrible man. lewis wants to reassure and protect vivi through it all, even if hes protecting her from the wrong entity. im sure lewis had been waiting forever to reunite with vivi. seeing him cry over her at the end of ghost made me feel like it was a regular occurrence. ‘waiting for this moment’ could also refer to how this is a pivotal moment for arthur as well, who had spent forever finding lewis and finally had results. to be honest, the mansion was like an inciting incident that made everything more intense from there on out. plus, ‘can you see me?’ is a typical ghost line whenever they interact with the living, yknow?

“cause i know that you are there”

this is arthur talking to lewis, at least indirectly. his search for lewis prior to the mansion was very irrational to say the least and ironically, filled with emotion. especially since he was the only person looking for lewis. but maybe part of it felt like his duty to find lewis as well? for lewis’ benefit and not his own, seeing as he was willing to trash his well being for the search. talking to ghosts irl must feel like talking to a wall anyhow, so arthur trying to search for lewis even though hes already dead would feel like that too. still, he is determined and knows lewis has to be out there. hed probably die trying to find and bring back lewis. which has almost happened several times, mind you

“this darkness is my signal, come and find me”

this is lewis talking to the gang indirectly. the theme of spooky things being related to darkness kinda influenced this, but it felt like lewis was waiting for the gang to find him, right? he had a mansion to reside in, even resting in a coffin. he wasnt doing any active searching from the beginning i presume. although, the fact that purple magic, his magic, stopped the van in front of the mansion makes it feel like lewis found the gang as well

uhmm TLDR one of us is a song about arthur and lewis trying to achieve their biased goals. arthur tries to find and bring back lewis despite the hopelessness and finding out lewis was already dead. lewis trying to kill arthur and protect vivi from nonexistent threats, due to his lack of knowledge. its about how theyre both outcasts of the gang, for different reasons, and how the fact they dont acknowledge this could harm them. its about how irrationality and a lack of information has gotten arthur unfairly hurt, and vivi dragged along, and lewis causing damage that he wouldnt have if everyone just had the full picture
