5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?

so on the one hand, my danny phantom fics always get a lot of attention and it always leaves me a little surprised, but on the other hand, that fandom is very fic focused, so at the same time it Doesn't really surprise me when i get a lot of kudos for them. what surprises me more is how much other fandoms DON'T comment or bookmark or follow fics lol. i was seriously spoiled with those lol

as for a fic that's gotten more feedback, uhhhh hm. a couple of my dp fics have done better than i thought they would, yeah, but i also have this bleach fic that's in second person that seems to have come across really well, so i guess that one's the most surprising lol

aftershocks has done really well, but that's not surprising considering the talent that went into it, the fact we updated every week, and the word count, but it still baffled me as we were updating it how well it was doing lol

15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?

definitely my rottmnt separated au (chapter 1 is posted on ao3 as sunset hues, jetpack blues (SHJB)) lol. ive been putting a lot of effort into it, more than i give most of my fics, tho i'm realizing now as i'm working more on planning i may have jumped the gun a bit and posted it a biiit early?? but also i wanted to post it on my birthday so i'm not so concerned about that kdshbfhdsf

when i post chapter 2 (which is basically done except for the final revision i need to give it), i'm gonna reread chapter 1 as well and make sure it's up to date with the minor stuff i left out bc i hadn't nailed down some specifics yet (but dw, it'll be Very minor and won't effect the plot lol)

besides that, i have oneshot prompts i wanna fill out and i have a fic in the works i'm calling Fallout, which is inspired by fall out boy songs (which ive been thinking about since like february/march when "love from the other side" dropped lol)

i also lowkey wanna try to get a fic done for danny phantom's 20th anniversary in april but idk how that's gonna go lol. i'm still very focused on ninja turtles

16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?

of my 54 works on ao3 Fluff seems to be my most used tag with 10 times, which is. lowkey a surprise LOL. Hurt/Comfort comes in second with 7 (tied with "not beta read" and a tag for a danny phantom fic event) and Angst is in third with 6 (barring the two that i'm not counting lol)

going by just my rise fics, first place tag goes to Donatello and Leonardo are Twins (TMNT) with 6 of my 8 fics (ao3 says 9, but one of them is aftershocks, which i won't include bc it's a collab) and only reason it's not all 8 is bc i didn't tag it in fics where it's not a main focus lol

oh god that's a lot more than i thought, uhhhh

i have a lot of stuff i Really enjoyed tbh. there's a fun little action sequence i wrote for a later part of SHJB that i liked (that i'll prolly have to rework a little), there's a few Other parts of my prewritten SHJB stuff i enjoy, there's a bunch of stuff in my rise august fills i really liked...

but i think for a single line/passage, i'll go with this bit from the beginning of my fic what's in a name? (which is also posted here on tumblr!!)

Donnie, not bothering to look up from his phone, flaps a hand in the air dismissively. “I keep all my anger bottled up in here,” he taps his chest, “and hope one day it will just kill me. Like a normal person,” he adds, as if what he just described is unequivocally a universal experience.

this entire piece was a lot of fun to write and there's some more silly lines in this i really enjoyed but i think this is the one i think about the most, like the exchange directly after this lol

Leo purses his lips and steeples his hands, holding this fingers to his mouth. “So that’s a yes to the mad, then.” “Or it could be, like, the coo-coo for cocoa puffs type of mad!” Mikey chimes in, crossing his eyes and swirling a finger beside his ear. “Y’know, like British people say.” “Ew,” Leo says, because that’s all that needs to be said about that.

Hello hello! Ive been gone a while. Lots of things have happened, and I'm still in the thick of my final year project, but it's (mostly) coming to an end mid-Feb! Thought Id do a little post (mainly for me and the 4 followers I have) on my current WIPs Ive picked up, and what I plan to be doing. Personal update under the Read More.

First of all, I have like a million art and fic WIPs related to Immortal Desires and Perfect Match 2. No biggie, I just have... lots and lots of thoughts about Poly!PM MC and Poly!ID MC. Yes, this means I do have a fix-it fic about how that end of book confession goes... maybe even a rewrite of the entire last chapter... but hold that thought!

Now that I'm a little bit more versed in Twinery (see second point below for why), I'm a little bit tempted to make my rewrite interactive as well. Just text tho lol, but either way, an ending rewrite is a ways away, and also I kinda wanna wait till Bk2 is released to really start working on it. (I didn't realise ID was GOC so you bet I binged it within three fuckin days when I did. It's a bloody amazing book. I also finally finished my playthrough of PM2, so that explains why these books are giving me immense brainrot.)

SECONDLY, 'A Date with Bryce Lahela' is about halfway done! I'm not exactly sure if I've ever shared the idea publicly to the fandom, but this is the basic gist of it: Date is an attempt on my end of trying to recreate those TF Date Specials, but with the one and only Bryce Lahela. Cool, right? Unfortunately, it's only in text format, bc I'm learning Twinery Harlowe.

What's left of Date? When can I play it/a demo? Pronoun choices, smut scenes and equipment variations, a whole activity is uncoded, trackable achievements, load/save functionality, and after that it's just making sure the whole damn thing works. As for a demo... ;) .. ... Joking. The entire predicted gameplay is short enough to not really need a demo, so there won't be a public one. I aim to have this done by, god, hopefully end of the year? This damn thing's been sitting in my WIPs for two whole years, so I would really like it done and over with, haha, but it's a lot of work for one person.

THIRD, I have a 1.2k word rewrite of Foreign Affairs Ch12 Tatum diamond scene that has been in the making, and rotting away in my WIPs, since 2 April 2021. Honest to god, it's a little bit of a vent fic, and I've been slowly chipping away at it whenever I've been stressed. The rewrite isn't because I see the scene as bad, but I do wish there was a liiiiiittle more hurt/comfort in it lol.

FOURTH, well... I have a few Bryce x M!MC smut fics that, uh, really should be finished and see the light of day. Or, at least escape the WIP folder and experience the cool damp corner of my tumblr blog.

My 3D animation final year project wraps up a couple of weeks before my graduation. I knew the workload was going to be larger than what I've had with my previous 2D animation projects, but boy it really hits different when you're actually working on it. I won't go into it too detailed, but if you're curious, feel free to ask about it!

My 2023 started off as a... mixed bag. Low lows and high highs, I guess. Won't go into it, but yeah, not great.

Me having Date in semi-working condition is purely because of a NYE group gift exchange and my hubris at making a working product within 2 weeks. It was... yeah, no, I've been humbled, but man was the result such an endorphin rush.

I've also got really into making custom content for The Sims 4, so that's where the bulk of my free time went, really. I'm active in a few TS4 discord servers, so if you see mothy-simmie, say hi :P

oof this is a tough one since I’ve only just got back into drawing back in December/January after like 8 years of not drawing shit and so i haven’t really made that many pieces!! also a lot of my faves are my current wips since I’ve been on a roll and improving a lot lately!! but here goes, in no particular order

I absolutely love the pancake one!! loved making it and love how it turned out

also this one (can’t show the whole thing on here since i dont want to go to tumblr jail AGAIN lmao but you can find it on twitter)!! this was my first ever spicy piece and i had so much fun drawing it!!

another one from around the end of april that i never actually finished and i now really REALLY hate the way it looks lmao BUT it has a very special place in my heart bc it made me realise how much i could do actually!! really raised my self esteem at the time and motivated me to improve!!

basically this bitch walked so these bitches could run (another 2 of my faves) sorry ani is still a wip but i can say for sure it’s gonna be one of my faves

I have a lot in mind but I just need to sit down and actually make them which is the hard bit lmao also ive been fucking around with 3d in blender/forger so I’d love to get to a point where I can actually sculpt and not ruin the thing bc I don’t know what certain functionalities do (tried to make a ref sculpture of cobb and fucked up by merging up a blob that WASNT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO FIX THAT so yeah not doing that again lmao)

I ended up not creating goals for H2 2022 ….

Anyway, today is 1st January 2023. Before creating my 2023 goals, I wanted to go through the lows and highs of 2022:

HIGHS

- seeing May KAOI visualize our vision for PINPOINT brand and packaging was really cool

- found a new author who I really enjoy reading for fiction (Taylor Jenkins Reid!)

- i was really happy during my sasin graduation day in April and again in October to just take photos. Its always a good time with my sasin friends and as time passes by, the more grateful i feel towards grandpa for supporting me and pushed me to go to sasin. Of course, i’ve always felt super lucky and blessed to have my sasin friends … but the feeling just increased recently for some reason haha

- May was such a good month. Mine, Erika and May’s join birthday dinner at Gigi’s was so nice, it felt great to see everyone and the strawberry cake from Brooklyn Baker was divine!

- i got to see mrs.brinn before she moved to jordan … it was good to see her and it feels kinda weird that she left thailand … i guess some people really do enter our lives for specific seasons, not forever

- when nont was away on exchange, mum and i barely fought … it was a good opportunity to spend some more time with each other and i really enjoyed our girl time together

- London trip!!! It felt exhilarating to travel again … my heart was so full! We had a really tight schedule and i felt like i was gasping for air every day, but i wouldnt have changed a thing…. I was sooooo happy to get to see Annie and Mikee again! And of course, Harriet and Proud! And of course, travelling with mum was fun and seeing nont and his accommodation and stuff was a kinda proud moment

- Just discovered that Homework’s spinach cheese pie is really one of my faves!

- i actually feel sooooo lucky that all my managers and Nestle have been kind, sweet people who I click with … I’m so grateful to have met P’Som, P’Tung and P’Lek!

- James’ party in October was the first time I went on a night out in a super long time … maybe even the first in 2022? Not sure lol but it was fun and it was a high for me because it reminded me how fun it was to go out and meet new people … the memories from these kind of nights are irreplaceable, truly

- christmas lunch at Sweet Pista was delicious! Really been craving for the anchovy fries

- NYE dinner at Via Emilia was really good … def one of our new faves as a family i think!

NOT SO HIGHS

- the top of this list is probably my health …. Since the beginning of the year, for the first time ever I had knee, ankle and foot problems … its such a hassle because it really hurts after I walk a lot, and i hate to be the debbie downer of the family. My acid reflux hasn’t also been great, its still a WIP … and my TMJ disorder got worst towards the end of the year …

- as mentioned in the previous post, i think i struggled the most mentally and emotionally in the first 4 months of 2022 … after that, it got better because ived tried to accept my work situation more, but i think it’d be a bit of a stretch to say i felt amazing … which is fine, it can be a work in progress, at least i felt a bit better

Helmsley can't claim that he doesn't know what grievances started this war, what has lead so many of his friends to join with the traitor Duke Tony. He shares so many of them, but he made his choice, years ago, and he'll stay true to it.

As the Batman fic is the one she knows about and has the temporary title of "Exit, pursued by Aunts", I present the most recent paragraph.

AU Meme - Day 13 - Buddy Cops/Detective

Fandom: Wrestling Characters: Darby Allin, Sting, Ricky Starks and Taz Rating/Warnings: Gen fic

Starks was a loud-mouth braggart. The worst of it was, he was probably as good at being a detective as he thought he was. That was why the Bureau had put him and Hobbs (of course 'and Hobbs') on the drugs running case out of Jacksonville. Darby, meanwhile, knows he's "the posterboy for tweakers" (thank you, Ricky Starks), and you know what, he's sure he'd ace this undercover mission in other circumstances, but he's been given the straightest arrow since Joe Friday as his partner. Darby understands why departmental policy is no-one goes undercover alone, but he knows how he's going to infiltrate the biker gang with a sideline in meth (or the meth gang with a sideline in bikes, opinion varies), but he has no idea how Sting plans to because the man radiates "don't mind me, busy being responsible and good." Everyone knows he ought to be Bureau Chief and the only reason he isn't is because he doesn't want the job, because he doesn't want the IV antacids Taz says are required to cope with the agita that inevitably comes with it. Darby plays his face as strong as he can while Sting turns up on the Friday. In a suit. In a biker bar. It goes as well as expected. "I just want a beer, alright." And it's like Sting straightens up and suddenly realises that Sting is not a small man - not as big as several of the bikers, but serious enough that they aren't going to do anything. Somehow it works, Darby spends more time in the bar, but they just accept Sting as a businessman who has to commute and uses the bar as a good place to break, and maybe spends more time there than he intends, and more money, and more time and money on some of the girls. Darby isn't sure how that slow (really, really slow) but steadily progressing investigation descends into him and Sting fighting their way through the gang and eventually Sting riding a monster truck over all their bikes. He is reasonably sure he heard maniacal laughter out of Sting. He definitely heard Taz laughing. In fact, he's not sure if Taz is ever going to stop laughing. "Are you not surprised?" Because, see also, Straight Arrow Sting turning out to know three monster truck owners well enough to ask to borrow their pride and joys ... "You do know he was like Californian trick surfing champion ... thirty, ... no forty years ago. You don't grow out of that kind of stupid." Well he never!

1. what fandoms have you written for (but do not currently)? - harry potter, muse, merlin, supernatural, doctor who, sherlock

2. what fandoms are you currently writing for? - kpop only

3. how long have you been writing? on this blog? - my first actual fanfic would have been when i was about 8? it was for sailor moon but it was literally only in a journal i had. i presume that counts. so that would put us at 24 years lmao - on this blog specifically, since april 2017

4. on which platforms do you post your stories? - here and AO3

5. what is your favourite genre to write? - aaaaangst lmao and horror/suspense. i love really dark things, and have always had a fascination in writing things that disturb me? i think its from an analytical or psychological perspective, exploring the limits of humanity and processing for myself why these things make me uncomfortable/where i feel them on my body/what is fear vs disgust idk. also very much enjoy fantasy/supernatural.

6. are you a pantser or a planner? - almost always i have a plan, however there are some fics that come out of nowhere and i just have to write them. examples of this are enough and love; always

7. one shot or multi-chapter? - i usually try very hard to keep things as a one shot, and reserve series for things that actually have substance enough to extend past 3 chapters. lately, all my ideas have been very plot heavy or come from worlds i am very interested in exploring and/or have aspects of emotion i want to work through. if i cant keep it to a one shot (like...under 30k) i will make it a series and ill be angry at myself lmao

8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion? - anywhere from 5-9k is a solid, average chapter length for me. some chapters, in hero for example, need to be more than this because theyre the heavy plot chapters. i have been trying not to focus on lengths anymore, just want to write until the story is told

9. what is your longest published story? is it complete? - the longest story ive ever written is 154k in a different fandom and yes its complete. at the moment, hero is breaching 98k and i imagine it will be my longest when its completed

10. which story did you enjoy working on the most? - when it comes to series, hero and time runner will, and always will be, the most special things ive ever done. i feel at home and myself when im writing them. im in love with writing them. the ideas are so strong, and the characters are so loud and clearly defined it just is the best time making art ive ever had. - for one shots, light sakura was truly catharsis. i needed to write that. its the most personal, vulnerable thing ive ever written and will probably never produce something like that again unless theres another major event in my life. also absolutely adored writing molotov cocktail and empty vessels. those are both the easiest 30k ive ever produced

11. favourite request you’ve have written and why (if any?) - brooklyn is burning was technically a request and im extremely partial to it

12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories? - oh yeah. usually my female characters are working through bad relationships or finding their voices, seeking identity and power in worlds that dont necessarily provide that. i write what i feel and what ive lived, the worlds around the characters are just exaggerations of reality and my imagination. theres always a little piece of me in my stories, and usually that piece comes down to them learning to trust which is something i struggle with

13. current number of wips? - please i cannot share this number, not when im ashamed of the amount lmao

14. three things you have noticed about your own writing? 1. smut is insanely hard for me 2. fluff is almost impossible, and could be considered my weakness. happiness is an external feeling, an outward experience. im a very bodied writer and finding joy or finding small bits of romance is difficult (largely because i live alone) so i will over explain aspects of the idol character or highlight small actions in the effort of holding onto them 3. i am still learning to trust the process

so. it’s finally time to talk about [my] nano.

i’ve kept my nano project pretty under wraps so far, mostly because it’s been out of my hands. i wasn’t actually planning on doing a for real for real nano; instead, i thought i would dedicate some time to my fanfic (spoiler alert, but i haven’t yet) or work on finishing up revising fairbone (spoiler alert: i did revise one chapter, but i still have like half of it left to go and a nov 30 deadline...rip). if that didn’t work, i thought i would pick a wip i started over the summer or one i had half developed (let’s just say the ideas note i have really boomed over the summer and like...yeah). in conclusion, there were many wips ready for me to work on them, including ash heart, which i really want to write but haven’t figured out how to.

instead i started a new wip.

well, it’s not necessarily new, persay. it’s an idea i’ve had stewing since like late september/early october and planned out a good portion of. however, deciding to start it was a last minute decision - and by last decision, i mean that on october 31st i finished developing the barebones of character development and basic plot lol and then gave it a go. it’s honestly been going crazy well. as of today (november 9th), i just hit 21.2k words. i’m hopeful about this year, while also not wanting to jinx stuff, but like...wow. but writing is has made me realize that, wow, this book is going to be crazy long probably...like i’m 21k words in and we’re still like in the exposition idk what’s going on. but hey, i finished planning out the rest of the basic plot for it today!!!

right. onto the wip details.

honestly, the only reason i haven’t introduced this wip is because a) i want actual stuff done on it and like a proven commitment, because i feel like too often i introduce wips i don’t actually go anywhere with and i hate it, b) i don’t have a set title and c) i actually have no idea how to summarize this.

the novel i’m working on right now is the first of a projected trilogy. i say projected because i have a vague idea that it belongs to a trilogy, but like not a lot of plot except some vaguely connected ideas that should happen in the future. in it, i used a lot of characters from these violent ends, which i tried to write for camp april 2020, but like just their basic barebones; i changed a lot to fit the story, of course.

not to sound nerdy, but it is like....harry potter inspired, but ONLY in the magical boarding school sense. of course, right now all i have is magical boarding school shenanigans, which i don’t really like because i feel like it unfairly sets the book up as like fun magical stuff when it’s really about murder & politics & student activism (+ a lot of other things ending in -ism). the whole activism part came from watching the trial of the chicago 7 and i was like, bingo, this is what this story needs.

kay but ANYWAYS. onto the story. like i said, i can’t really summarize it, but there are lots of themes of classism, feminism, the affect on youth and youth’s effect, manipulative adults, revolution, terrorism, sibling dynamics and found family vibes, like all that stuff...packaged into a magical boarding school off the coast of maine setting...recipe for disaster!

mainly i’ve been writing in ophelia’s pov, because she’s my main girl and she’s problematic, but also she’s trying her best and just having a little difficulty fitting in. some other main characters are her twin brother, sebastian, and two other boys, asriel and vincent, who have an initially animistic relationship with ophelia (& kind of each other?) but it’s like enemies to friends (to lovers?).

anyways. here are some carefully curated excerpts below the cut:

i. vincent and asriel meet on a train (ch. 1)

The boy pursed his lips together. “It’s unusual,” he said, finally. “That’s all.” But he was looking at Vincent as if he was noticing him, which meant he was lying, or at least withholding the truth about something. He added, “You’re not from around here, are you?”

“Do you mean geographically?” Vincent replied, raising an eyebrow. “Because I’m from New York.”

A small glimmer of a smile appeared on the boy’s lips, though it vanished as quickly as it had come. “From the Magical World,” he clarified.

“What gives it away?” Vincent asked sarcastically, waving a hand across his body. “My impeccable taste?”

“Among other things,” the boy said.

ii. sebastian and ophelia discuss grief on a ferry (ch.2 )

“You and mom talked?” Ophelia asked, surprised. She hadn’t exactly been keeping track of them, but she was sure she and Sebastian had spent much of the day together, as they were wont to do.

Sebastian looked at the floor. “Yeah,” he answered, hoarsely. “At least she wants to talk about Des. Dad doesn’t, and neither do you.”

Ophelia sighed, wondering why, today of all days, her sister was haunting them. Maybe it was because there should have been three people heading to Rijevduct, instead of two. Maybe Mother Magic was reminded of the loss of one of her own.

“I’ve let her go,” she said. “You should too. We have too much of our lives ahead of us to mourn Desdemona forever.”

“I don’t mourn,” Sebastian said, words uncharacteristically sharp. “But I do grieve.”

“Isn’t that basically the same thing,” Ophelia mumbled, closing her eyes and feeling the press of a headache behind them.

“Sorrow,” Sebastian said, the word a soft shudder. “And sad endings.”

“What?”

“That’s what makes a good tragedy,” Sebastian answered. “I read it in a book.”

iii. headmistress alexeyev gives a speech (ch. 2)

“Eight years ago, seventy two students were slaughtered here. Some died on the very spot where you now stand today.” Ophelia glanced down at the floor, seeing the motion repeated instinctively around her as well. She looked over at Sebastian, who had closed his eyes instead, a pale flush meeting the faint color in his cheeks. His throat bobbed as he swallowed, tennis shoes scraping against stone as he toed them against the floor, as if he was shaking something only visible to him off.

“It was a tragedy,” Headmistress Alexeyev continued. “I say this because it is the truth. It was a tragedy, and not one that should never have happened.” She inhaled; Ophelia saw her chest rise, shoulders with it, in a sharp motion before she exhaled, body rearranging itself into poise once more. “I speak of this to tell you to assure you that Rijevduct is safe. I know there have been continuous doubts over the security of this school since that day eight years ago. I cannot, of course, guarantee that you will not come to any harm here. I cannot tell you that Rijevduct is the safe haven you were taught it was growing up; events have already proved that it is, in fact, not as impenetrable as one might think.”

Ophelia frowned, confused as to the line of reasoning. She had thought the whole point of the year of transition was to make sure that Rijevduct was infinitely more safer than it had been—and they had all been under the assumption that Rijevduct was virtually impenetrable until the massacre, which had led to the heightened security measures they saw today.

“I can, however, promise you that I, and everyone here today, will do anything in their power to keep you safe,” the Headmistress said. Next to Ophelia, Briar bowed her head, lowering her eyes and swallowing, the action almost a convulsion of her throat and mouth. Ophelia brushed her hand, lightly, in question, and the other girl just shook her head, looking away purposefully, so that Ophelia lost sight of her face and her sad eyes.

“These next three years will be far from easy. Gone are the sheltered lives where your parents could kiss your injuries goodbye, or sing you to sleep at night. Rijevduct is far from the cold, real world, but it is close enough when it comes to not asking you what you want first. This is an adjustment period. This is learning how to survive—and I will tell you this; surviving means many different things to many different people. You will have to decide on your own what this will mean for you, and how you will apply what you are taught here to your futures. Be wise. Be proud. Be humble. Cry. Laugh. Live. As your Headmistress, I, along with your professors, will be here throughout your time.” She raised her glass, “To the worthy,” and then drank, turning and walking back to her seat, which she lowered herself into gracefully.

iv. sebastian pov! (ch. 3)

There was a dead girl in Sebastian’s first period Magical Theory class. She was sitting diagonal from him, on the Glass side of the classroom, in an empty chair, staring straight ahead at the chalkboard. Sebastian tried not to look at her too obviously, his eyes straying from the open book in front of him to her cautiously, beneath the sleeve of his sweater.

She was sitting blankly in the chair, scraping her shoes against the ground, though they could not leave any scuff marks. Though she was the same faded shades most girls were, Sebastian could make out her pleated pale blue plaid skirt, which brushed around her knees, and the stained white blouse that might have once been spotless, but had been marred forever by the circumstances surrounding her death—objectively, that was to say, with blood. Her dark brown hair fell into loose curls around her shoulders, little silver studs glinting dimly, unable to catch the light. Her knee high socks now pooled around her calves and ankles, revealing a rotting bandaid on one of her knees. One of her tennis shoes was peeling at the toes, looking as if it had been ripped apart.

Her fingernails had all been pulled off. Sebastian was good at analyzing ghosts by this point; he recognized the bloody flesh and bone of the nail bed. There was also blood matted across her head, trickling down her temple, with bruises covering her body; they peeked out from beneath the collar of her shirt, blackened across her cheekbones with a sunken quality in particular to one of her cheeks, as if the bone had begun to cave.

Subjectively, she was far from one of the worst that Sebastian had seen.

Reflections: Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? Definitely more, since I'm coming off a 15 year dry spell. I'm loving that Kathryn Janeway and Chakotay have really sparked my muse. I've never been this prolific a writer! I'm loving every moment of it!

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? I tend to not skip around my fandoms, so I prety much stayed with my predictable J/C and Voyager.

What's your own favorite story of the year? Oh man... For me it's a cin toss between The Times They Are A Changing (Who knew I had an epic in me??!!) and Come Healing. Come Healing has spawned a whole new world for me.

Did you take any writing risks this year? So many. I posted Times as a WIP, unfinished. I'd never done that before and the fact that I stuck with the story, as long as it was, and it didn't 'get away from me' is a miracle. I'm currently in the middle of a WIP that I really need to get back to. (Before my reading audience starts to riot. LOL)

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? Last year my Word count goal was 100K and I wrote over 150K, so this year, I'm sticking with the 100K, with an eye for that 150K again. My goal is to finish a lot of the WIPS (non-posted) that I have started and just stay as prolific as I was last year. Fingers crossed I can keep up the pace!

My best story of this year: Best story this year? I think Come Healing. It's one that even I like to re-read a lot. LOL

My most popular story of this year: I'm going to say Times They Are A Changing, but I wonder if that's because it was posted as I went, so each chapter got reactions. It certainly has the most comments over all.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I think I'm going to say The Face Of The Enemy. Folks, I think, tend to stay away from these stories because of the 'kid', but, the story is ultimately about Chakotay's reaction to the Vori, it's parallels to the Maquis and Cardassian fight and the fact that his son is half Cardassian.

Most fun story to write: The Explorer. The whole 'toss the POV' moment at the beginning was a lot of fun to write. As was that whole entire scene with them demoting each other as they spoke.

Story with the single sexiest moment: 25 Years Earlier. I'm rather proud of the sex scene. Even though I forgot to describe Chakotay taking his pants off and now that's all I SEE when I read the damned thing. LOL

Most "holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: You Are Here Under The Authority of Me. Living Witness Janeway forcing Living Witness Chakotay into a Vulcan mating/bonding ritual, complete with proximity bracelets. Much pain if he tries to run away from her. Muhahaha. (I loved this universe, I need to go back and play in it.)

Hardest story to write: Come Healing. It's hard subject matter, and I ran into stubborn muse meets deadline issues and literally had panic attacks. But, the finished story is so, so worth it!

Biggest disappointment: I've got a lot of stories started that I've promised. One is a Western that I really really wanted to have done by now. It's not.

Most unintentionally telling story: You Are Here Under The Authority of Me. Haha, wait... ;) It tells you that I am a devious, devious, author.

Did you reach last year's goal? Reached it and sailed past! My goal was 100K words. I ultimately wrote 151K. Go me!!

urgg i really wish i could make video tutorials and stuff for blender and hairs :( I have tried about 3 or 4 times to record/stream and it is so laggy and just pure shit on stream and twitch. updates for the #fans:

i am not dead. i took a hiatus from working on AtDaS for a while bc i had a Lot of other shit going on but now i have a real job in my field (pog) and have started working on it again. (also i just can't be fucking bothered to fill my queue lmao)

the hope is to have another chapter out in time for april 16th/23rd since that's another fun anniversary. not sure if i'll make it there because the middle section of this is still very... improv-y? like, the story outline for AtDaS is basically just:

episition chapter (POSTED)

next scene of SFeli subplot (DONE)

FLRciano subplot proper introduction (DONE)

next scene of darkroom subplot (planned-ish, partially done, but i got stuck on it a while back for a reason lmao)

stages subplot ("planned" in that i have fragments of vibes and a general kind of escalating arc, but not really anything that can be specifically outlined perhaps? like i know where this is going and how it's going to get there but unlike the other arcs where i know what certain scenes are going to be ahead of time all i can really say is that these are going to be RAW dialogue that i later go back and add tags for because that's the best way to write barely-not-arguments)

the rest of the SFeli subplot ("planned" in that i know where it Needs to go, but there's complicated shit here that i need to figure out. FL (probably) doesn't have enough material in the right places for me to be able to stretch this for how far it needs to go, but we'll get there when we get there)

the rest of the FLRciano subplot ("planned" in that i know where it needs to go, but there's a lot of stuff to sort through here because there are very particular kinds of energies that im looking for with this subplot? the "proper introduction" gets one set of the criteria across, the finale section gets another set, and the 170 is going to be :chefkiss:. you'd think this would be major beats only but it's actually kinda the opposite of that - it's the lucidity (and anti-lucidity, which is not the same thing as un-lucidity) that matters more. either way this is more about picking specific points to riff from and then exploiting the uneven distribution of these points to create ENERGY energy)

the rest of the darkroom subplot (this needs to go places but i have no idea how im going to get it there lmao. this subplot is VERY likely to get cut tbh, or at minimum cut down. there's very little that it does that the stages subplot doesn't do better and what little this does that that can't could be condensed into like. one scene. rip)

stages subplot finale/third type of magic (has been DONE since like september lmao)

a few scenes either directly preceding third type of magic or in between it and the finale chapter for each of the subplots. mostly thinking of FLRciano 170, but there's other shit that could maybe go in here too. (PLANNED though placement as you can guess is WIP, mostly because there's a REALLY cool scene that im somewhat including with third type of magic that i really don't want to cut, but it leaves off on a WAY wrong tone to directly join with the finale chapter)

finale chapter (all DONE minus like four paragraphs that i got stuck on rip. also has been done for a very very long fucking time, one of the scenes in here was the first thing i wrote of this before i even had the idea to turn it into a fic)

expologue short-chapter (basically DONE though i might change some things here)

so that's about where that is. ill probably want to get a similar amount of content out to what i did for the first chapter, which will probably be 5-6 "standard" length scenes instead of a bunch of snippets (because most of the snippets were exposition of sorts). which means the chapter's about 30-40% done depending, because ive got those two scenes complete already and ive maybe got a few other pieces of things that could go here.

so, there's that! and god one of those scenes fucks so hard. a chess game as an exact metaphor is far better than i was hoping for but i sure did find it lmao.

also i got a new ipod bc my old one Broke broke and it's got sick ass theming lmao ill post pics at some point maybe.

also the entire album of Until by Fewjar fucks. so fucking hard. all kinds of pogger energies and god the songs flow so well on the actual album instead of youtube.

KZK Discord Digest [Week of May 30 - June 7 Pt.1]

SUMMARY: There's a big thing we're doing that I'm gonna split off into its own post so people can directly reference that. Plus this post is gonna be enormous. Pt.2 should be up shortly after this one. It’s been a busy week!

After months of trying to land a rental and a job in VA so they can move, Kat and April have decided, fuck it, they're going - some generous friends will be having them stay there until they're able to find a place of their own. The PODs are already being loaded. Kat will likely not be able to make / release new things for 2-3 weeks while they move and get settled. On top of that, he has to put his cat Ishizu to sleep soon - she's developed kidney failure and the only treatment would involve dialysis and subq fluid injections, so the difficult decision was made to let her go.

Kat05/31/2019 @everyone Keeping the productivity train rolling. Decided to pick up the Direwolf plush today to break up the monotony of setting up devkit stuff and arting. Here's a preview of one of the steps of making a 3D model. This color vomit is not just awful to look at. It actually serves a very important purpose. Once I've finished the low poly model, I will bake these colors onto it, and my software will be able to use these very distinct colors as a 'Color ID' Mask. It'll save me a bit of time later setting up all the markings during the final baking/texturing phase. Stay tuned for more updates.

Kat05/31/2019 @everyone Been a busy day for announcements the last couple of days. Apologies for nuking your notifications. So update on the job situation.

As of this moment, my fiance and I are on the brink of burning one of our last few bridges with no way of going back. Her job has failed time and time again to work with her on scheduling for travel, and through no fault of her own, could be jobless by the end of tomorrow. Monday she flies up north for an interview, and if they don't hire her, we're out of options. She'll be jobless and we'll be stuck in Louisiana for at least the next six months which is far from ideal.

I say this because I need to start looking forward toward new projects. I'd intended to get the Direwolf update out before I started anything new, but this move has already caused so many delays and problems, that things are now piling up and I need to keep my income stable if I have any hope of qualifying for a place on just my income alone. So I will do my best to get the plush av out, get the freeby dev kit out, then I will be moving forward with production on a new avatar, while simultaneously working on the remaining bug fixes, missing features and general QoL improvements for the Direwolf.

I promised the update, and as usual, I've dropped that ball. For that I am sorry, and I can only hope for your forgiveness and support as my Fiance and I try to transition through this exceptionally difficult time in our lives.

I hate this state. I hate the people here. I hate being alone all the time. This move is supposed to help fix most of that, and putting out new content is the only way I can make that happen. I hope you all understand. Thank you.

KatLast Saturday at 7:08 PM @everyone Update on the devkit progress: The Paid devkit will be getting a 1.2 release to address some minor issues bugging me, but that's not happening just yet. The freeby kits have been finished. Now I'm penning up the documentation and usage instructions. Those should be available once I get back from Dallas.

Speaking of Dallas, I will be gone for Sunday, monday, and tuesday. Its cheaper for us to book a hotel room and stay two nights to wait for her return flight than it is to drive back and forth (a total of 12-15 hours of driving for two round trips to dallas) so I'll be camping out in my hotel room with my switch and laptop xD. Hopefully I will have some good news on monday.

KatLast Sunday at 11:13 AM @everyone so.. I will not be going to dallas, as originally planned. Last night my eldest cat ishizu got very sick. I'm sitting at an emergency clinic right now and wont be home in time to join. So please.. do me a favor, send @AprilsaurusRex words of encouragement for her interview. I'm not able to be there to support her on this trip and its tearing me apart.

KatLast Sunday at 1:07 PM @everyone At home now, waiting on news of the blood test results. Doctors had to sedate her to draw blood because she was fighting back so badly. Normally i'm there to calm her down but the clinic was exceptionally busy and I desperately needed food in my stomach. Total costs are already up around $400 for the IV(sever dehydration from constant vomiting), blood work, and the exam fee. that, compounded with the expenses to book the flights for this interview have taken a bite out of my savings so.. expect some sort of sale or something soon. I'm going to use the unexpected next few days home to focus on work. Thank you all for your support, patience and understanding.

KatLast Monday at 3:01 PM @everyone Going to try to keep this brief today. Lab results came back early yesterday for my cat(I spent all day just.. processing, and... preparing myself for whats coming.). I've been reviewing her bloodwork and doing my best through research to interpret the results, along with the information provided by my vets. Her kidneys are in bad shape, and the only 'treatment' now is dialysis and weekly subcutaneous injections of fluids to combat dehydration. I can barely give her a syringe of chicken flavored medicine, let alone get her to sit still long enough to give her a shot. They had to mildly sedate her to even draw blood so... I've made the soul crushing decision to.. stabilize her for now, make her comfortable, and set a date. She will be buried next to my other animals.

As for moving... My fiance and I decided 'fuck it'. Job or no, we're leaving. Thanks to some generous friends in the area, we've got a place to stay while we find a place to live or while she looks for a job should the worst happen and Geico fall thru. I've already ordered the pods and i h ave 15 days to load it before city officials fine me for the pods overstaying its welcome. That'll arrive on the 6th so.. basically everything's on hold at this point while I move and prepare myself to say goodbye to my beloved Ishizu. I got her as a freshman in highschool. I'm going to miss her. so much. I dont want to put her to sleep but weekly injections, stress, and constantly being dragged to a vet where its cold and sterile and constantly stinks of fear is not how I want her final days to play out. I didn't come to this conclusion easily, and even now I wish there weer another way.

Some of the stuff was sold recently when our car broke down, but some of it, like the freeby will o drakes, the murk beast, and the mana machina, haven't seen the light of day since their initial release. Also available is the darastryx, the winter hunt freebies (wings, horns, tail, ect), and a bunch of LEs released for the Sergals, Fennecs, Raptors, Central Dragons and Rift Dragons. I hate that I have to do stuff like this but I will have no time over the next 2-3 weeks to produce any new content, and this is my best chance at staying afloat financially while the move happens. A fond thank you to everyone for their support and kind words. It means the world to me. Ishizu is home with me now, and has spent the majority of today relaxing and resting. She's yet to eat anything, but she's drank a bit. Hasn't used the restroom yet though which has me really worried.

KatLast Wednesday at 12:32 PM @everyone If you're wearing a Kirin Alloy and your neck/spine guards attach to your HUD, this is a bug with Firestorm, not the avatar. I've just tested a freshly unpacked copy on the Default viewer and it works just fine for me. So make sure your viewer is up to date, and if it is, send a bug report to the Firestorm devs. Thank you.
