Hey! Im rereading rule one and i felt awkward saying this in a comment but i just wanted to mention how much i really like your characterisation of the cullens and how youve chosen to write them. In general your writing is very well done and intriguing but the way youve chosen to go about some things is very fun. Its been about a year, maybe a year and a half since i last read rule one especially the earlier chapters and im at the point where nessie steals sadie's dog and im just like... Woah. Holy shit. Youve really nailed down the horror of nessie? Like u know its good if its making me go oh holy shit bc im pretty immune to a lot of horror centric things like this. Idk i guess i forgot just how horrifying you made nessies pov of things so it really punched me in the face in a good way. I really admire how youve gone about this fic in general tbh bc you have this sense of creeping horror that actually hits bc its not ignoring the bad elements of canon and the canons bad implications and ur actually confronting them head on in a realistic way while also not going overboard and bashing on canon? Idk its a really precarious balancing act youve got going on but its real inspiring to see how well u do it. What was your thought process for nessies characterisation like? Like how did u arrive at the point we see in the fic. Sorry if this is all over the place its 6 am and im just in awe and really enjoying re reading rule one and i thought itd be cool to let u know how much im enjoying ur writing choices! I guess I just felt fascinated by the potential consequences of Renesmee growing physically at such an accelerated rate. In Breaking Dawn (and the Twilight Illustrated Guide), it's indicated that she has a complete understanding of what is said and done around her, but she still acts like a child. She's still a child. And I find it interesting to imagine what a person would be like if they feel like- and indeed, are -a child but have capabilities that exceed their age and size and don't have worldly experience to match their mental awareness.

I've read fics like "Wedding Crashers" where Renesmee is written as Veruca Salt-level spoiled, and she is positioned to have shades of that, being raised in a family that has bottomless money and seeing evidence in her first year of life that she is so important to everyone she knows that they will put their lives on the line for her. If she fully understood everything that was happening around her during Breaking Dawn, what must all of it have looked like through her eyes?

The book mentions that she only ever sleeps in someone's arms, never in a crib, because she lives in a house of sleepless vampires. Has she ever been denied anything? If so, what? And how did it feel? Pretty much everyone adores Renesmee, or is fascinated by her. One of the first people she laid eyes on imprinted on her on sight. She was brought to the most feared vampire in the world and touched his face, and then the bad guys went away and everyone was happy. She remembers all of it. She understood what was happening. How would that affect a kid?!

And, like the fic kind of explores, a lot of the things she's learned about her family and their lives before she was born would send some pretty concerning lessons about morality that I think someone would have to confront down the line- whether it be her family, or someone Renesmee meets who objects to being treated the way she's learned to treat people, or just Renesmee herself if she happens to learn better without being given reason to.

I just really enjoy exploring the duality of Renesmee as someone who was practically designed in a lab to be hugely entitled and selfish but also just a child who wants everyone to have a good time. She doesn't quite believe her actions have consequences, because everyone in her life is ready to fix anything she does and no one will hold anything against her because she's three and she doesn't know any better, and she's consciously aware of all of it, but also she is three and she doesn't know any better. Imagine an actual three year old, with all the tendency toward misbehavior that entails, but make them 1. capable of going anywhere they want, 2. superpowered, and 3. very aware that they won't get into any real trouble for whatever they do. Her heart's in the right place, but she's a kid, and a kid whose few life experiences to draw on, to guide her judgement, are all bizarre.

To answer your question about balancing a realistic tone without bashing canon, I guess my approach has been to kind of just go "Yes, and" to most things that are established in the books. (The exceptions, as mentioned in some of the chapter notes, being the child grooming and the idea that venom removes melanin; those two things I just got rid of.) I try not to go, "That's stupid, and here's why." For any given thing that the books hold to be true, I try to have a response of, "Okay, but let's look at the consequences." I won't take away anyone's happy ending, no matter how dubiously-obtained I find it, but their actions to get there still matter. I'm glad to hear you found it effective!

I always love getting comments about Renesmee's characterization! I love it, because the fic isn't even about her, so I love to know that a relatively small aspect of it stood out to you.

Also, thank you for specifying that you're rereading the earlier chapters, because I'm super self-conscious about those. 🤣

Mars Pisces Transit Experiences

Couple-a observations as Mars went thru my empty 10th house in Pisces:

🐟 At 0°, my neighbours made the area smell like rotten fish for like 2 days lololol. So on the nose. Pisces is in my tenth so this was an opposition to my Venus in the 4th

🐳 I encountered nasty fish smells frequently while out and about, and more often towards the end of the transit

🦈 At 29° Pisces I started overreacting to things and situations because I misinterpreted the person’s intention—I really regret a specific moment 😬 cringing at myself

🪼 I hadn’t been drinking much before Mars moved back into Pisces but the urge came back. Never went overboard tho; I think Saturn in Pisces makes alcohol less fun in general

🦀 When Mars was conjunct Neptune I experienced all sorts of delays. My day still ended up okay but I ended up late to things and just… cried in public hahahah

🐬 I’ve been trying to figure out where my career is going. I don’t know for sure, but I think for more healing and getting closer to my highest self, I have to start making art again. There’s no other non-destructive way to handle my emotions that isn’t destructive (besides a rage room)

🐡 I also realized some power dynamics that I was unconsciously holding onto that aren’t worth the effort, especially at work! I’m learning to choose the correct battles and let others take control

🐙 I’ve decided to stop masking my face so much. I hold it a certain way to look more open but I’m not actually open… doesn’t make sense tbh

🦑 The theme of embracing suffering rather than running away from it came up. I’ve been in a bad mood, just letting it happen. Literally listened to “Let It Happen” by Tame Impala during the solar eclipse and it was thrilling

🦭 I got a new piercing on Mars-Neptune day AND a photo of my aura. My aura was a beautiful shade of green with some yellow and orange. The interpreter told me it showed a lot of change and growth. She also said more change is coming and I can feel it 🩵

🐟 I read a lot more about spirituality, auras, and performed several rituals based on astrological transits, and they’ve been incredibly insightful

16. if you’d grown up in a different environment, do you think you’d have turned out the same?

Ohhh boy. This is a doozy.

I absolutely would not have turned out the same at all. I grew up in an area where I was sheltered, didn’t know anything about racism, sexism, lgbtq, or any religions, really. I transferred schools in my early preteens to a less sheltered area, and it was a completely different experience. I faced people being racist, sexist, and openly homophobic. It seemed that everyone liked making fun of the ‘new Asian kid.’ I was in toxic friendships, and frankly, wasn’t that great of a person myself after a year there.

I didn’t know the hurtful words and actions targeted towards me were racism, sexism, or any sort of discrimination until a year or two afterwards. It definitely took a toll on me, and I was depressed for a while, tbh. Then everything went downhill, when an event caused my mother to have a mental breakdown, and we had to move back to the sheltered area in which we lived before.

That’s when I figured out about how she had traumatized, mentally abused me, and was toxic to my mental state. I could finally put a finger on what anxiety was, what depression was, and why I had felt those things. I grew to resent her, and still do, at least a little. I realized how toxic my family environment was, and knew I had to leave, preferably as soon as possible.

I was religiously coerced to continue participating in that faith until I left for college, and I’ve never looked back. I’m agnostic now, and am happily so. I was able to see what life was really like, and to be able to see life without any sort of tinted shades or hands blocking my vision.

If I grew up differently, I can’t say I’d be the same person I am today. I don’t know what I’d be like if things had turned out differently, but I’m happy to be who I am today.

28. on a scale from 1 to 10, how hard is it for someone to get under your skin?

Tbh, I’d say a 5-6.

It really doesn’t take too much to get under my skin, but I don’t quite show it often. I don’t have much energy as of late, so I think I’m leaning more towards the ‘don’t give a fuck’ side of things recently.

Ack, sorry for going a bit overboard and tmi back there ^^;;

hi hello the whole experience is still so surreal to me but i'm going to document as much as i can in this post while it's still fresh in my memory :^) note: i didn’t reread this since i’m literally just rambling everything and trying to recollect what happened HAHA read... with discretion? - FAN ENGAGEMENT - so this was my first time at kcon and i was super confused with everything, but luckily i went with a friend who already had experience from going previous years (@ftwonwoo HI TRACEY). we were lucky enough to get three seventeen audience passes from the vouchers that came with our concert tickets (( WHICH ARE COMPLETELY RANDOMIZED I MIGHT ADD )). i reaaallly wanted hitouch and was willing to pay up to maybe $50 for it but seventeen was in high demand so every offer i found was $100+ OTL. i mean i was able to afford it, but i didn't think it was worth buying for, maybe, 40 seconds of interaction ;_;. waiting in line was like a blur to me i just remember thinking it was hot because we were told to stand in line outside with no shade at all. i was straight up sweating buckets and also screaming internally because i was going to look like a mess in front of seventeen AHAHAHAHA. i kept admiring some of the fans in line who made the effort to have really nice rose quartz serenity outfits while i was wearing like......black lmfao good job kellz what the heck were you thiNKING. the only rose quartz i had on me was my phone case and this headband i made that said 최한솔 (chwe hansol) on it which i’m 120% sure vernon didn’t see it Bye

okay so all hell broke loose while seventeen were coming onto stage one by one, and unfortunately i missed them walking onstage since there was this girl in front of me―who i thought was a fansite bc she had a camera with detachable lens―holding up an ANNOYING AS FUCK POSTER THAT BLOCKED MY ENTIRE VIEW. i told her to put it down (several times actually) and when she did, i immediately counted the members and noticed hoshi wasn't there?? i was a little disappointed for a sec but i understood he needed his rest so it was for the best, so props at pledis for not letting him attend for the sake of his health ;_;. they first introduced themselves and oh my god Y'ALL hearing "SAY THE NAME, SEVENTEEN!! hi, we are seventeen!" is so goosebump inducing lol i've heard them say their signature greeting so many times through my laptop screen but it's a whole different level hearing it in person. okay fast forward my memory kind of gets broken here but they basically answered a few questions (i remember them naming s.coups as the dad and jeonghan the mom of the group) and they also had a mission every time they rolled a dice. dino - random dance to dnce's 'cake by the ocean', seungkwan - favorite pop song (he sang adeles's 'when we were young' OMG THIS BOY'S VOICE IS HEAVENLY I NEED A FULL VER ASAP), seokmin - random dance to big bang's fantastic baby (before he danced, he threw the dice into the crowd which was sO funny and unexpected, i didn't see where it went but he had his hands together afterwards and looked like he was apologizing LOL also s.coups was literally on the floor dying of laughter), joshua + jeonghan - aegyo, mingyu - sexy dance to justin timberlake's 'sexy back' (he was really into it at first doing body waves and then he got shy, it was so cute LOL), wonwoo - i think he also got favorite song? he sang 'see you again' and it was nice hearing everyone in the room singing along with him!! i was worried that they'd be tired from flying in from chicago hours before the event started, but they were all really energetic and lively and cute. after this segment ended, it was time for the hitouch and it was so interesting seeing how each member interacted with fans since it... really reflects their personality if that makes sense?? i think s.coups, mingyu, and vernon probably had the best fan interaction. they never wiped off the huge smile they had on their faces and s.coups was legit CLASPING each fan's hand instead of giving high-fives alfkjalskfjaljsk. the hitouch went by really fast and on the screen, it showed their faces one by one and i remember fans screaming the loudest for jun omfg he is sooooo handsome;; well all of them looked really handsome tbh and i really liked jeonghan and woozi's chokers :^). minghao had a really cute smile the whole time too!! after they left i went outside and really just sat there letting it all sink in that i saw them.... me.... with my own two eyes.... seeing their adorable faces and laughs and interactions with each other and then suddenly realizing i probably won't be able to experience this again LOLLLLLLLL okay no need to be dramatic onto the next part - SATURDAY CONCERT - it was unannounced that vernon, joshua, and s.coups would be the MCs in the beginning so it was the biggest surprise of my LIFE i think i went a little overboard with the screaming at times rip but vernon was such a natural at emceeing!! his english was flawless omg and joshua, s.coups, and mingyu did a really good job too! the concert stage was set up as.... i guess you can call it a 360 stage? so sometimes the artists entered in from the sections where audience was sitting. i knew they were coming from between section 110 and 111. 110 was the section i bought for combo saturday and sunday tickets, but i sold it for saturday's concert because i found better seats, but it was still the section i had for sunday's concert, which seventeen didn't attend AHAHAHA wow is this what i get for being greedy and purchasing closer tickets just for saturday??? ehhh it's okay, the seats that i had were far on the right and they entered in the aisle on my far left so i wouldn't be able to see them anyway LOL. seventeen's first performance had unit stages, which went in this order: performance unit - swimming fool > vocal unit - 입버릇 > hip hop unit - check in. and then there were other artist stages afterwards, but they came back to perform other tracks (don't wanna cry, rock remix, and aju nice). the vcr kcon played before seventeen’s second performance was amazing, it was quite similar to the kcon japan vcr, except for LA they had a different logo which i'm sure a lot of you have already seen lol. i think some fans were calling it a hearbeat logo which is genius imo it's an actual representation of what my heartbeat looks like when i see or hear anything seventeen related!!!!!!! throughout their performance i remember seeing jeonghan, seokmin, and s.coups coming to my side of the stage the most. they were so cute always waving to fans are i practically walked out of the venue a jeonghan stan. ((( i’m joking vernon’s forever my number 1 but JEONGHAN GAVE SUCH GOOD FANSERVICE ))) s.coups was also a really eye-catching performer. the way he vibed during check in was out of this world I FELT SO BLESSED TO BE ABLE TO SEE IT PERFORMED LIVE INSTEAD OF WATCHING 394839 FANCAMS OF CHECK IN PERFORMANCES AND ALSO during tock remix, there was this part in the choreo where they look up after vernon / seokmin’s part and the lighting in the venue shined down on the stage floor, coups looked completely like an anGEL and don’t even get me started on vernon because i felt like losin’ my goddamn mind whenever he appeared on the big screen i know i might sound biased but i think seventeen were the best performers out of attending artists;; they really engaged the whole audience, from having everyone chant 'seventeen' in unison before they even performed to having everyone do the mansae move with them during their random play dance / pinata time;; it was an amazing experience and it honestly felt like a mini seventeen concert LOL. i had to hop on a flight four or five hours after sunday's concert with barely any sleep;; my flight consisted of nothing but listening to the Al1 album OTL post-concert depression is already hitting me hard HAHA i really hope in the future i can see them at one of their tour stops one day ugh i love seventeen so much;;;;

FAM Leader 1: Personally I really like Innisfree Green tea seed serum, it really lives up to all the hype. When I started using it my skin became so soft and cleared up a lot (though, I still get breakouts). Also, blotting paper can be a real lifesaver sometimes when your face is super greasy and you can’t wash it.

FAM Leader 2: I’m another FAM leader whose skin literally goes from dry to oily for absolutely no reason. Head’s up, prepare yourself for a very long list.

During the dry times here are some of the moisturisers I liked (I alternated around but recently just been using Mamonde)

Lush Celestial - light moisturiser for the day

Mamonde Moisture Ceramide Intense Cream - super thick but makes your skin so dewy and glowy and soft

The Face Shop Rice Ceramide Moisture Cream - a bit heavier than Celestial but makes your skin so smooooooooth

L’Oreal Age perfect night cream - super heavy! Put on at night and BAM your skin won’t be dry anymore!!!!!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance - IF UR INTO WARM TONED STUFF THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It does have some fallout but it is so effortless to blend!!!!! The shimmer shadows are kinda not the best but they’re still pretty!

Maybelline has TONNES OF GOOD MASCARA!! Push-up Drama, Lash Sensational, Colossal Big Shot

Revlon False Lash Butterfly Wings - I honestly think this is a GREAT dupe for Benefit They’re Real, one of my fave mascaras

Maybelline lipsticks!!!! I’m not entirely sure what the name is but I think it’s called Color Sensational? I have the colour 275 and it’s called Crazy 4 Coffee SO PRETTY

On the note of lipsticks, Urban Decay 1993 is the MOST BEAUTIFUL BROWN LIPSTICK EVER!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok I should calm down now

Mac lipsticks - I have shade Velvet Teddy and it is SO BEAUTIFUL I always get complimented on the colour when I wear it

Maybelline Fit Me foundation, I used dewy and smooth and absolutely LOVED IT, but the shade range is a bit funny so I had to move to higher end brands to get the shades I wanted //:

Urban Decay Primer Potion - literally your eyeshadow WILL NOT BUDGE OR CREASE

False lashes - I like 117 and 149 from Eyelure, 120 Demi Wispies from Ardell, heaps from Daiso

3ina (Mina) in MC - beautiful lipsticks, highlighters, and blush. Also heard good things about their foundation too (according to my friends and family)!

Hourglass Sculpting Brow Pencil - dude idk how to tell you how much I love this thing but I LOVE THIS THING

Random FAM leader comment: if you’re looking for eyeshadow, go with Zoeva palettes, they’ve got really nice colours with strong pigments and these are pretty affordable ($38) as compared to so many other eyeshadow palettes!!

Makeup wise I have a couple favourites. Maybelline fitme matte and poreless foundation, maybelline hypersharp wing eyeliner (the shape of the pen are just so so precise and the formula is not bad- especially for how much it costs). Colourpop lipsticks, eyeshadows and highlighters are also to die for- the pigment is amaaaaazing.

These are the products that have kind of stood out for me and I highly recommend checking them out!
