If you really think about it your tumblr blog is an exemplar of the ship of theseus in the modern setting. The changes in urls/icons/themes/pronouns over the years, the following->mutuals->unfollowing/blocking cycle, the ever-changing fandom content... My blog doesn't look a thing like the beginning stages of its conception. If I go back and look at the way I talked in posts & tagged when I first made my blog I'd probably feel the urge to shoot myself because my blog's fundamentally different now. I'm fundamentally different now.

Les Mis adaptations and apolitical appropriation
I think it's no secret on this blog that I love the original Les Mis 1980 concept album in French, and that I also love comparing different versions of the stage musical. I've noticed that Les Mis seems to get progressively more vaguely apolitical as time goes on, not only in the way it's viewed in our culture, but in the actual text as well.
It's natural for specifics to be lost in adaptation. It's easier to get people to care about 'the people vs. the king' in a relatively short musical rather than actually facing the audience with the absolute mess that were 19th century french politics (monarchist orleanists vs monarchist legitimists vs imperialist vs bonapartist democrats vs every flavour of republican imaginable). Still, I feel that as time goes on, as more revivals and adaptations of the stage musical come out, the more watered down its politics become. Like, Les Mis at it's core is just meant to be a fancily written, drawn out political essay, right?
In a way I feel that the 1980 concept album almost tried to modernise it with its symbols of progress. Yes, through Enjolras' infamous disco segment (and other similar allusions to the ideals of social change), but perhaps most interestingly to me, through one short line that threw me off when I first heard it, because it seems so insignificant, but might actually be the most explicitly leftist line of all of Les Mis.
"Son coeur vibrait à gauche et il le proclama" (roughly "His heart beat to the left and he proclaimed it" i.e: he was a leftist) Feuilly says, while speaking of the now dead général Lamarque in Les Amis de L'ABC.
What's that? An actual mention of leftism??? in MY vaguely progressive yet apolitical musical??? More seriously, this mention of leftism, clashing with the rest of the musical due to it's seeming anachronism, is interesting not because it's actually more political than anything else in Les Mis, rather, because it's not scared to explicitly name what it's trying to do.
But we've come a long way from the Concept Album days, it's been 43 years, and Les Misérables is now one of the most famous and beloved musicals in the entire world. It's been revived and reimagined and adapted in a million ways, in different mediums, in different languages and countries, and it's clear that it's changed along with it's audience.
On top of pointing out a cool line in my favourite version of the musical, I wanted to write this post to reflect on the perception of the political message of this work. We as a Les Mis fandom on Tumblr are very political, I don't need to tell you that, however, I feel that because this very left leaning space has sprung out of a work we all love so much, we oftentimes forget to revisit it from a more objective point of view.
Les Misérables has a history of being misrepresented, this has been true since it's publication, since american confederate soldiers became entranced with their censored translation Lee's Miserables. However, with it's musical adaptation, this misinterpretation has been made not only more accessible but also easier. As much as I love musical theatre and I think it is at it's best an incredible art form able to communicate complex themes visulally by the masses for the masses, I think it'd be idealistic to ignore the fact that the people who can afford to go see musicals regularly are, usually, not the common folk. Broadway and the West End are industries which, like most, need money to keep them afloat, and are loved people of all political backgrounds (and unfortunately, often older conservatives) not just communists on tumblr. We've seen the way Les Miz UK's social media team constantly misses the mark regarding different social issues, and the way Cameron Makintosh has used the musical to propagate his transphobia, and most of us can agree that these actions are in complete antithesis with the message of Les Misérables as a novel.
But I must ask, how does Les Mis ,as a West End musical in it's current form, actually drive a leftist message, and how are we as a community helping if every time someone relating to the musical messes up if we just claim they "don't get it"?
I'm thinking in particular of incidents like last october, where Just Stop Oil crashed Les Mis at the West End. Whether you think it's good activism or not is not the question I think, this instance is interesting particularly because it shows that, outside of Les Misérables analysis circles and fandom spaces, it is not recognised as an inherently leftist, political or activist work, and instead of just saying they completely missed the point of the musical, I think it'd be interesting to take a step back and look at what the musical as it stands actually represents in our culture today.
I don't pretend to have all the answers, so I won't try to give one, but I do hope we can reflect on this a bit.

Here is an intro post. Important stuff above the cut, less important stuff below the cut
• Tbh I don’t really care what you call me, but most people call me Hare so you can do that if you want
• I am a minor
• I am biromantic asexual
• My pronouns are she/her
• I try as hard as possible to be respectful and kind but I am not 100% educated so if I make any mistakes/say something offensive please please let me know. I don’t want to cause any harm and I want my blog to be a safe space for anyone
• If you are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or any other type of shitface then I will block you. Don’t try and interact with me
• I am a Christian but I don’t blog much about it. I am a Christian in the sense that I believe in God and Jesus rather than using a book to back up my bigotry. I want to break the assumption that all Christians are horrible people but I do get that some people have trauma and other things so if you don’t feel comfortable interacting with me I do understand :)
• I post mainly about any Six Idiots content and British shows like Doctor Who and Torchwood
• But I do go on tangents about other stuff. Mainly 80s movies that I remember every five months: Bill and Ted, Dirty Dancing, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, the Outsiders
• I absolutely love musical theatre and have a musical theatre sideblog @raouls-fine-horses, my favourite musicals are Phantom, Les Mis, Little Shop, and Groundhog Day but I’ve seen so many I can talk about them all for hours
• My favourite tv show is BBC Ghosts but some others I absolutely love are Doctor Who, Yonderland, Futurama, The Addams Family (1964-1965), How I Met Your Mother, and Horrible Histories
• I really love talking to people so if I mention here anything you’re interested in please message me, I love to chat :)
• I have an Etsy shop that’s just starting out and would very much appreciate you checking it out
• Thank you for reading my intro post :)

Any thoughts about Stobin's reaction to the 80s masterpiece that was the musical Chess? I have a feeling "Pity the child" would do a number on Stevie boy... "Pity the child who knew his parents; Saw their faults; Saw their love die before his eyes; Pity the child that wise; He never asked "Did I cause your distress?"; Just in case they said yes"
Prefacing this with: You literally asked for this
Tumblr media
Listen. Listen. LISTEN. I have been holding back on projecting too much on Steve, specifically with him being a lifeguard with an outdoor pool but also must admit that I have had to hold back on making a poto reference in RASEPSM because it hadn't come out yet. Physical pain from that.
But you came to me, on this blog with my headcanons, with the musical that I have such a clear memory of listening to for the first time in the most Steve Way (cleaning an outdoor pool in the rain with nothing but a bra and short shorts on, no clue what the hell I was getting into with this musical)
Chess is one of those batshit musicals that has a bunch of different versions and reorderings. (More drastic than just moving I Dreamed A Dreamed to after Lovely Ladies in Les mis 2012) so, unlike my OBC (i think? it may have been the west end version. it's been years) first time listening, we are saying Steve got the original concept album in fall of 1984. Not because he'd heard anything about it, but because he's spent two weeks listening to the Voulez-vous album after Nancy and he broke up and the music of Chess is written by the two B's of ABBA. It's a natural transition for a man who has a secret musical theatre stash.
(he doesn't really need to SEE them, he just likes listening to them. figuring out the plots by the songs. Also he's in love with Julie Andrews this is fact [aren't we all, though?])
He likes to listen to musicals while doing water tests and vacuuming the pool, but it's November so he doesn't do that, just. Lies on the floor of the livingroom trying to figure out what the fuck is happening in the musical. It is difficult. (He thinks there's a love triangle between the American grandmaster man, the Soviet grandmaster lady, and her loyalty to her country. Takes YEARS for him to figure out he's wrong. Just like meeee)
He likes the motifs, (Budapest is rising my beloved...) and how dramatic everyone is about this tournament. One Night in Bangkok is a fucking bop and a half. (I love how there's some interpretation of Freddie being ace because of the line "I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine"[objectively iconic ace line in a pretty queer song], versus whatever the fuck Raúl Esparza had going on in 2018 that was. Uh. Not what I'd call an asexual interpretation of the character in that song but my god i doubt anyone was complaining.)
But. Pity The Child hits a bit close to home as he lies on his back on an immaculate carpet in a hollow house. Especially if you consider his mother may have used him to fill the emotional void where his father was supposed to be and put her emotional baggage on him with his father away on business and being unfaithful. (and also if you headcanon Steve as bi because that song is queer. I'm just saying. it is. even without the line "I was a fool and probably queer" but that line is there so. make of that what you will) And the line "I wouldn't call: a crazy thing to do/Just in case she said who?" STEVE LINE STEVE LINE
But also. That entire musical is chock full of people belting their hearts out about struggling to choose what they want. How they're supposed to go, what they're supposed to do. It's not about chess, or the cold war (well. It IS but...) It's also a lot about people wanting to be someone they aren't, and concerned about how they are perceived. Hmmm. HMMM. INTERESTING.
Like. Heaven help my heart?? I know him so well?? post s2 broken hearted Steve is called tf out. Basically the entirety of tape 2 of the concept album knocks Steve on his ass. Mentally, he is here:
Tumblr media
And ofc Robin finds his little mixtape of sad musical songs is like "steve. why are you obsessed with this musical. I am IN drama and I haven't heard of it. what the fuck. there's russians. we aren't fond of those guys." and steve has to go
"Robin listen. The guys from ABBA wrote the music and it's KINDA queer, and also please listen to this song. you can't even tell who's russian it doesn't matter"
and robin listens which finally makes her realize
"wait. why did you get this to begin with? Just because of the ABBA guys?"
"Robin. I have a collection of possibly every officially released musical from the past twenty years. I just like 'em. Have you heard Colm Wilkinson's voice? Julie Andrews? ABBA guys were a bonus."
and now I'm thinking of Musical Theatre actor Steve but let's not get a head of ourselves but also imagine... steve on broadway and robin in the pit as trumpet... being besties
anyways yeah I think they'd like the musical Chess.

Do you have any tips for someone wanting to start a bracket?
I’m not an expert on brackets, but after finishing my first and starting my second, I have a few tips:
Make sure you make the bracket size something you can handle. While the Best Snubbed Musical World Cup had 170 submissions, I chose to use preliminary rounds to make a 64 musical bracket, rather than a 128 or 170 musical bracket because I knew I couldn’t manage a bracket with that size.
Take proper care when seeding the bracket! The top contenders should face each other in the later rounds, not the earlier ones! This will make the last rounds more exciting and ensure 2nd and 3rd place go to worthy contenders. The Best Musical World Cup would have had a far less thrilling final if Fiddler and Les Mis faced off in Round 1! You can seed the bracket based on your own opinions, or use some other statistics. I used the votes each musical got in the preliminary round to seed the Best Musical World Cup bracket.
If you are using a side blog to run the tournament, make it a day or two before you start posting! Posts from brand new blogs will NOT appear in search results or tags, which I learned the hard way.
If you want people to find your tournament, use LOTS OF TAGS! Make a tag for your bracket, and tag posts with topics relevant to the tournament. For example, I use #musicals, #musical theatre, #musical theater, #broadway, and a few others on all the polls. If your contestants have tags (like if they are characters or shows) then tag those contestants in the polls they appear in!
If you need tips on more specific things related to brackets, feel free to ask!

Rules : 🎶 when you get this, list 5 songs you’ve been listening to & tag 5-10 people.
tagged by the lovely @krocodilf (literally you have me like 😊🥰🥹 bestie omg!)
Can't Get You out of my Head by Kylie Minogue: 2001 pop that reminds me of my childhood, kinda a mix between lofi and pop that makes me dance in my chair when i am writing papers
Telephone by Lady Gaga and Beyonce: i live on a university campus so i walk everywhere, and this song is perfect for walking to and i just love mid-2000s pop, always makes me feel better
Borderline by Tame Impala: i have seen so many edits to this song (especially of leo going to pissg) so i like to sit and stare at walls and think about the silly sports people while i listen to the synth and the strong bass line. it makes you feel like you're in an alternate reality
Death of the Phone Call by Whatever Dad: calm french music with acoustic guitar >>> i like to listen to this while im studying, its like a comfort song for me, feels like a warm hug (and Whatever Dad is so underrated, even if you don't like/understand french it is so sweet, like a lullaby i love it). ii name all my playlists after drinks, and this is in my "butterfly peaflower tea" playlist that i use to fall asleep with
Tonight - Quintet from West Side Story and One Day More from Les Miserables: i love musicals, and west side story and les mis are two of my favs. these songs in particular are the end of act i, all storylines collide songs where all the characters sing at the same time and its just this pleasing wall of sound that makes me melt! truly exposing myself as a theatre kid here but i think the fact i run a blog about athletes makes up for it
again thank you to nikka for the tag, and if any of you @neybappe @neyxmessi @dykemar @lioneymessilva @ksiminii want to do this, feel free because i would love music recs!

DUDE i didnt know you liked musicals! For a good 3-4 years this was a theatre blog so im always excited to hear the newer mutuals i followed for anime reasons are also into musicals. What are your top 5 favorites?
i think enstars has a connection to musical theatre. just a theory *staring at my mutuals*
MY TOP 5???? thats hard i love so manyyy aough okay Okay . how to order this..
1. newsies
it being my first full show to be in makes it really special for me. like not only did i learn So much, it was my one escape from my troubling situation so i associate it with home kinda. the stage at the time felt more welcome than anywhere else as a 15 yr old.
i loooove the music.....i will sing the entire soundtrack and ruin my voice idc it has no skips (the bottom line is fun! it reminds me of sweeney todd HSUDKFHJ)
plus, it's like So fucking funny. newsies humor gets me
2. be more chill
yeah okay so bmc used to be my favorite, like i'd vowed to call it my favorite forever because i was So attached. and i still love it. totally kinned jeremy in middle school i literally got a blue cardigan to dress like him (and the gender envy for will connolly was my life for a year) MY BMC ERA WAS SO. god, i got my MOM into it. i'm very normal about my interests.
the humor in it also really gets me, and bmc gives me the same nostalgia feelings as newsies.. it's like, oh god you are So familiar and precious to me! augh!
3. the lightning thief musical
george salazar did bring me here, you're right. (bmc is the reason im here is how influential i think it was on me tbh)
i looove the lightning thief novel and the musical is sooo percy is painfully relatable. good kid hits me like a fucking truck i love that song.
THE MUSIC OF TLF IS JUST. IT FEELS LIKE HOME. not because of nostalgia (also because of nostalgia) but! it's like, inner child ig. i used to listen to the soundtrack when volunteering at an animal shelter. so i associate it with summer. and also Ough. just OUGH!!!!! yknow???? i wanna see the lightning thief musical live So badly
4. les miserables
hehehe hello saddest fucking thing i was in! les mis is brilliant, i LOVE watching the anniversary performances! (we dont talk about the movie) it's just so. so so heavy and depressing but the score is beautiful and the story hurts And i got to die on stage which was my favorite part. my favorite song is Look Down just because i had such a RAD solo in it. i got to walk/run through the audience singing and jumped onstage.
5. how do i piiiick augh okay Here im just gonna list the rest that i like because i cannot choose a 5th favorite
-six
-heathers
-into the woods
-book of mormon
-mean girls
-come from away
-rent
-guys and dolls
-little shop of horrors
(i sorta know spring awakening and falsettos, but ive yet to Actually delve into them. ive been meaning to for yearsss)

10, 19, and 25! 💖💖
thank you my love!!
10. origin of your username?
aaah i'm so happy you asked this bc both of them are actually references to some of my favourite movies/musical theatre related things!! my main username comes from les mis bc that's the fandom where my blog started:
Tumblr media
for my writing blog, i wanted something a bit more neutral/subtle, so i went all the way back to my roots and found this little gem:
Tumblr media
now intrepidaceous isn't actually a real word as far as i know, but trepidatious/trepidacious (there are different ways of spelling it, yes i checked) is, so i used that spelling. all of this is just a long way to say that i wanted to use something with a nice sound that i felt some sort of connection to. and i do wanna feel intrepidacious 😌
19. where do you write?
oh god, everywhere. mostly at my desk or in bed, but i've sometimes written on the train, in class, or literally while walking
25. a neglected work you wished you would finish?
there's two of them, and both are les mis related (i've not been writing for marvel long enough to consider anything i haven’t finished writing 'neglected'). i've been wanting to write a sequel to "i (want to) believe" ever since i posted it, and i still have an unfinished fantasy au fic called "paris, burning" that i wrote for nanowrimo back in 2015. i don't know if i'll ever return to either of them ever, but i do wish i'd written/finished them 💀

Stuff about me and this blog, I guess...
I decided to do here the same fixed post/bio info/DNI I did on my sibling sideblog.
Who am I?
I'm Puddin, or Angel. I'm 25 years old when Big. I'm a Genderflux person & my pronouns and forms of address are (they/them, he/him or fae/faer, Mx., sibling/sib, etc)! I'm also oriented aro-ace. My smol age ranges from 7 to 10 years old. I've been age dreaming much more than regressing for some time now, but I still consider myself a regressor (and also a dreamer).
I'm ADHDer & have generalized anxiety & specially strong social anxiety. I also have chronic pain due to fibromyalgia and C-PTSD & I dream and regress to cope with all this!
My special interests are reading, coloring & music!!! I love symphonic metal & power metal, and I think there's no place with better music than Finland! I love musical theatre & Les Mis is my favorite musical!
Recently I discovered podcasts and audio-dramas so I'm hyperfixating hard on The Magnus Archives, and other spooky, thriller and mystery audio-dramas.
You can also find me on:
My sibling sideblog @bigsibpudding where I welcome all smol ones, as long as you're not k!nk!
And my activities sideblog @puddings-little-coloring-book where I post and share coloring pages, worksheets, puzzles & activities for printing that I find on the internet!
Do not interact if:
n/sfw, k!nk, c/gl, d/d/lg, d/d/lb, m/m/lg, m/m/lb
4bdl, m4p, nom4p, p3do, s/hota, l/oli
th!nspo, pro 4ana, pro m!a, etc
g0re, depression blogs*, self h4rm, su!cide, etc
racist people, 4nti LGBTQ+, enby and/or aspect exclusionist, tr4nsmed, 4nti CGLRE & meanies in general
* I have nothing against people who use tumblr as a mean to vent about their experience with depression and mental health, but this kind of content usually triggers me and I've been working hard to accept that my mental health is also important so I try to keep myself from having contact with content that can be harmful for me.
Kiddos who are part of a system are as welcome as regressors and dreamers! We do not discriminate here!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Warning:
I don't belong to any specific community, but I won't accept people who discriminate against the CGLRE community in my blog. I understand people who might have bad experiences and trauma associated with certain terms used by this community, and I think it's their prerogative to not interact with members of said community for the sake of their wellbeing and mental health, but in no way shape or form I'll ever accept people comparing this community with k!nk.
Like I said, I don't belong to said community, but I don't forbid their interactions so if you don't want to see CGLRE interaction/content you might want to be careful here because I interact/follow/reblog with/from quite a few people who do belong in this community!

tagged by @allgaslynobrakes to do this lil tag game! (actually it's a big tag game so i'm putting it under a cut)
1. Why did you choose your url? wanted to start an f1 blog, was absolutely spiralling over drive to survive season 2 episode 10 aka the 35 minutes of television that cured all my mental illnesses. gaslypodium felt like a fitting encapsulation of my brand

Geese Theatre
Describe in your own words Geese theatres' key theories.
Geese Theatre focus on the rehabilitation of offenders through the medium of Drama and Theatre. This has been proven to develop social consciousness, self control, self-esteem and responsibility in offenders, deterring them from crime again. Geese have three key theories that they apply when facilitating their participants, all of which encourage them to think deeper into their thinking and feelings and evaluate the person they really are underneath how they portray themselves.
The first theory we learn about in the Geese Theatre handbook is Social Learning Theory-
This is using social interactive intervention to facilitate a new skill for the participants. It uses a process of applying a specific skill, so that once all the steps have been completed, participants should have successfully acquired that new skill.
The steps are as follows:-
Assessment/Self Assessment- Teaching what a specific skill requires to be successful e.g- Teamwork requires trust.
Instruction- Recommended procedure to follow for practising that skill. E.g practising teamwork would involve several team building exercises, showing participants how to operate as a contributor towards a team.
Modelling- Facilitators giving examples of the skill, this would normally include how NOT to approach the skill.\
Multiple Practise- Practising the skill whilst increasing difficulty and realism each attempt.
Testing- Testing the skill and giving appropriate feedback, where positive reinforcement is essential in encouraging participants to stick with the process.
Real world practise- An opportunity for participants to practise this skill in their everyday life.
When Geese talk about why this sequence is so important, the following is quoted-
“The sequence offers an important conceptual framework for helping participants to develop new skills in a conscious and structured way” (Mountford et al. 19)
This shows how offering this process would leave an impact on participants, asking them exactly why each skill is important and would benefit them daily leaves an impact which would hopefully lead them to approaching situations better in the future.
The second theory is called Cognitive- behavioural Theory
When I first stumbled across this I had a reasonably wide understanding of what it entails. This is due to the fact that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is used very often in modern day as a psycho-social intervention to treat mental health, it challenges any cognitive distortions and helps to develop personal coping strategies, improving people's control over their emotions. Geese Theatre uses drama as a vehicle through this theory to challenge and explore the beliefs and attitudes of offenders that may lead to them displaying anti-social behaviour.
Geese explain that offenders often unknowingly place themselves in habitual cycles, which are self-sabotaging and often lead to offending behaviour. By using drama to facilitate this change, Geese starts a conversation which asks ‘Did your choices affect you positively?’ Most of the time that answer is no. They will then ask “What can we do next time to prevent negative outcomes due to personal actions?’
They use the example of exploring a victim's experience on the receiving end of antisocial behaviour. They would create a scene in which somebody would play the victim of something like Robbery, this would help by showing that other people are becoming hurt by their actions, holding them responsible for their actions.
Geese also explain that offenders often have the fixed vision that they are a victim to the system- and other people should feel the pain they do. This is a belief of self-sabotage as they can end up incarcerated due to the extent of their actions, modifying this belief so that offenders feel empowered by opportunity of personal growth, often leads to less offenses in the future.
The final theory is called Role Theory-
This is the idea that we all play a role in society, and that we have total control over how we play roles in our lives. Role Theory is a way Geese can identify skills and roles that offenders could benefit from developing.
They say -”Role Theory observes how we all play roles in our lives which generate behavioural archetypes associated with that role in any given context.” (Mountford et al., 2002, 19)
This communicates how offenders often stick to a role that does not benefit them, for example, young offenders can present themselves as incapable of work (even when they are) because they feel like nobody would hire them. This is them intentionally placing themselves in an unemployable box, Geese’s role theory  would come into play here by using drama to teach different job roles to offenders. Such as, the role of an employee, which would benefit them by teaching the behavioural archetypes of succeeding and retaining a job. The biggest message Geese are portraying here is that personal roles are dynamic and can be consciously chosen to benefit your quality of life.
What specifically stood out for you in the Geese theatre reading? (Give 2 examples. Be specific. Did it make you think about something - if so, what? Did it raise questions for you - if so, what are they?)
The first element of Geese Theatres practise that stood out to me, was the concept of ‘The Mask’ this is a metaphor for analysing the inner processes that support the roles we play. It is essentially the ‘front’ we portray to the outside world. Geese attempt to ‘lift the mask’ and go inside the heads of offenders to uncover hidden thoughts and attitudes. This eventually leads to behavioural change as it proves that their inner process leads them to offensive behaviour, challenging the conflict right at its core. What particularly stood out to me, was when it stated that participants would often practice this concept on a fictional character. I think this is such an interesting practise as it shows participants that this can be practised on everyone, meaning people probably perceive them in a way where they believe they are not conducting themselves authentically. I had a think about the character of ‘Javert’ from the musical ‘Les Mis’ and attempted to analyze the hidden thoughts there. This was very interesting to me as it allowed me to see that charter through a deeper lesne, and understand the behaviour that occurred as a result of the inner thoughts. Javert-
Presents himself as a powerful and lawful man, hungry for social justice. Blinded by this and unable to see the good that ex-villain Valjean does for the community. Inner thoughts- disappointed in previous failings to catch Valjean, frustrated he failed his life missions. Feels as though he has nothing else to live for.  The result of this inner process was his ultimate demise. However the chance to analyse those inner feelings, may have led to an emotional breakthrough that could have eventually prevented the dark end to his life.
Although this may be considered a far fetched evaluation, I can confidently say that I understand why completing an exercise like this would make an offender feel more able and comfortable to analyze themselves with intention to change their damaging inner processes.
Another concept that I was particularly interested by, is the section that focused on working with resistance, particularly ‘Responding to Resistance’
Geese explain how oftentimes offenders are very resistant to participate in drama because of a fixed idea they have that drama is ‘Silly’ and ‘Just childrens games”. Although this resistance is a difficult bridge for a facilitator, Geese explains how it is important to ask yourself ‘What is causing my person or group to feel resistant or afraid?’ and then ‘How can I modify my approach to accommodate this?’ Offenders often don't want to be tricked into becoming vulnerable, a great facilitator would respond to this fear by ensuring the practise would be entirely based around their boundaries. What particularly intrigues me was that facilitators can utilise resistance to their advantage, participants who are particularly resistant and are seeking out to sabotage the group are often seeking an outcome that works for them in that situation. In this instance, facilitators could respond to the participant in a conversational manner, giving them a response they were not expecting. This encourages new energy and tension into the group, which can be interesting for the participants as it demonstrates how conflict and interpersonal tension can actually lead to creative solutions, not just a power struggle which is more than likely what they are used to.
How does the work of Geese theatre company join up with the wider world of Applied theatre and the idea of dominant narratives?
Geese Theatre company are a perfect example of an Applied Theatre company, they work with marginalised groups in modern society and instigate a conversation that leads to social change. They utilize many techniques that other forms of Applied Theatre do, all of which centre around the voices and capabilities of those in spaces where mainstream theatre doesn't normally exist. The idea of ‘dominant narratives’ is a pattern I would argue is present in many forms of applied theatre. A dominant narrative is the dominant social argument applicable to certain social groups or events. An example of this in relation to Geese Theatre is that offenders don't have the capability to change and are the poison that must be controlled in our society. Another example of this looks back at my first blog post where I explored the Theatre and Health company, Target Theatre. This is the company that explores the views on the elderly in our society and the hidden fears they face. The dominant narrative this company takle is the idea that Elderly people have less to contribute to our society as they are not as physically and emotionally available as the younger generation. Both of the dominant narratives I have outlined above are particularly ruthless, but the function of Applied Theatre in relation to these narratives is to inspire that social change that is so desperately needed, yet this form facilitates that change in a marking and inspiring manner.

Feels a little silly to post about this, what with the fall of civilization intensifying around the globe as each new month of this nightmare year passes and whatnot, but:
It's 2nd Barricade Day today and I feel melancholy.
I feel melancholy because today, I realised that no matter what, I can't say we when I speak about the Les Mis fandom anymore, it's them, and I think it's going to stay that way from now on. Obviously, I haven't been active in ages anyway, but today, I found the right words to explain the feeling to myself.
I used to feel at home in that fandom, more at home than in any fandom before or since – and now that home is gone, and there is something else in its place, something that may feel right for others but is not right for me. And it feels so silly to feel sad about not being in a fandom anymore, but there was a time Les Mis and the fandom were pretty much my whole world, or at least a large part of it, and it just makes me feel melancholy to realise how much things have changed since then.
I still think the musical is a masterpiece of musical theatre. Assuming there still is musical theatre in our corona-ridden future... I think despite my feelings about the fandom, I will always feel at home watching it, no matter what, and thank goodness for that.
Incidentally, I think I want to change my icon/header combo, I've had this Les Mis set for ages and it's time for something else. Does anyone have recommendations for blogs that post nice icons/headers, art or nature or stuff like that?

My 30 days of Autism Acceptance!
So I saw the autism acceptance prompts that @autie-jake posted, and I thought it would be a good idea to do them! I’ll have these tagged with #30daysofautismacceptance if you don’t want to see them and just want to see the characters! It’d be appreciated if you could check them out, though!
April 1: Introduce yourself. Talk about who you are as a person.
So I guess I never really introduced myself as a person on this blog, so I guess now is a good time to do it! My name’s Alex, I use they/them pronouns, and I’ll be 18 on the 24th! I love video games, especially Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Undertale, Danganronpa, and The Sims!
I also watch a lot of anime, some of my favorites being Cells at Work, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (I’m about to start part 4!), Ouran High School Host Club, Sailor Moon, and Black Butler! I also cosplay (thought not as often as I want to, though hopefully that’ll change soon) and run my own Etsy store! Most of my life revolves around fandom, my friends are nerds and/or cosplayers, my walls are decorated with prints and posters (some of which is mine), and I wear either a fandom or band t-shirt almost every day.
I also perform in musical theatre, with some of my more recent shows being The Little Mermaid, Les Mis, and Hairspray! I plan to do some more theatre starting in the summer or fall, when I can audition for some more professional local groups for adults.
Some of you might have seen me mention that I’m Jewish, but that mostly applies to my ethnicity, as my Dad (my Mom’s Catholic) was gone a lot when I was growing up. I’ve identified as a eclectic Pagan Witch for about 3 years now, after a long time examining myself for what religious path is best for me, if any at all. I’m also a kinnie (my main sources being Homestuck, JJBA, and Danganronpa), as well as an age regressor to cope.
I hope you’ve learned some interesting things about me, and I can’t wait to do more prompts as the month goes on!
