#saint.txt #long post #ishgardposting #tl;dr in my personal project one of the big things is that (one) military has had to evolve alongside gryphon riders for a long long time #who's biggest threat are information gathering and the fact they drop flechettes and are nigh-untouchable by anything even each other #even with firearms (which are still very early tech-wise) so anti-air defense is paramount #the biggest results being that *everything* has a roof on it to mitigate stuff falling from the sky. #cities are cramped and avoid open space as much as possible. anti-bird spikes but scaled up on steep roofs so that birds can't land. #buildings are made of non-flammable material like stone when possible. open areas exist mostly as corral zones so that tired birds #must land there and can be easily surrounded on the ground. #but the flashiest is killwire which is basically just wire strung between tall buildings that discourages flight below a certain level #and is difficult to see especially at speed or at night #and if you hit it. well. the idea is based off motorcycle accidents where people have hit wire fences on farms so I'm sure you get the idea #not all of it will apply to Ish.gard but I highly believe that's exactly why Ish.gard is 98% built out of stone #as are all their forts and important structures like bridges. I know!! Shannon keeps posting weekly countdown things and every time I just stare at it like what the fuck do you mean Stellarlune is almost here. It's been two years since the last book I don't know what to do with myself. So much new content! An influx of questions!

And then of course for me on top of just new content thoughts it's like oh hot damn how is my goal for the wings au drawing so near. How can it be this close. Because ideally I'd like to finish it before the new book is released as like. The end of that era and moving into the Stellarlune era.

And like...I think I might actually be able to do it??? I haven't said anything but like I'm legit getting really close to the end. I don't know how many chapters it will take, but I'm almost done with chapter 41 (there are 38 published rn) and like. The final events are arriving. I don't. I don't know what to do or feel about it I just keep writing.

Three weeks. There are three weeks and then. Stellarlune. Wdym Unlocked didn't just come out and we don't have to wait two years what do you mean the two years have already happened

I don't have a concrete story but the initial idea was that cas was friends with swk in the brotherhood days and stuck with dbk after everyone else got sealed away and the whole consumption incident went down since she had nowhere else to go (and conveniently was the only lady around that he could ask for relationship advice when courting Iron Fan). They didn't expect Cas to live this long, only really expecting to have her around through her natural lifespan but they noticed she wasn't aging so now she gets to be their babysitter for date nights! Through the years she's been something of an aunt/sister figure and has become fiercely loyal to the family despite having no desire to take over the world. Redson built her electric bass and the armor she wears over her gems, the Bass has 2 extra buttons on it- the fire button spews fire out of the pipes and the Bull button unsheathes her sword from the neck of the instrument since she can't exactly walk around with a sword on her hip so easy these days. She travels with a heavy metal band across the continent- i like to imagine her intro episode has the crew excited about a big band coming to the city and while they wait they run into redson and annoy him cause he's bragging about getting exclusive vip passes to the show. The crew would expect someone mean from the music and the from the rest of the family but Cas is super welcoming and nice when the crew sneak backstage to bother redson some more XD

Being a 9-1-1 fox fan and a teacher is so interesting and fun bc we took our preschoolers to the local fire station today and one of my only thoughts was about the 118 going offline for a bit just to give local schools and daycares tours. Special interest brain rot.

#we're a small town and only have the one fire station and there are clearly vast differences between the TV station in LA versus here #but that just made me want a midwest 9-1-1 spinoff more than ever #picture me this: 9-1-1 heartland or some bullshit. opening scene is the playboy young captain on his first day #we get to see him and his crew start their shift they arent in a big city like LA but they're in the twin cities or madison or cedar rapids #and we gwt to see them have a normal day. they go to a few calls. they have a class come in. they go to more calls. but its boring #boom. disaster. five-alarm fire #center of town. our crew is the first on scene but uh oh! flashback. hot playboy captain is a kid now. we see a similar five alarm fire. #the captain in charge? same last name as our current hotshot captain. its his mother. we see her lead her team. a few people from when #she was around are still there #helping out the kid. we go back to the flashback. she's leading the charge. she isnt captain but shes in the running #and shes trying to prove herself. she pushes herself too hard. she ends up injured. paralyzed from the waist down. #flash back to current day. our new captain who has been cocky all day backs down and keeps a level head. but as soon as hes in his office #he bursts into tears. his mother killed herself two weeks before his promotion to captain. no one knows yet #idk some more drama #but like imagine #i also like the idea of a smaller town station where everyone is volunteer firefighters bc there's not enough reason to keep a group #full time while there arent emergencies every day. but i did think that might get boring and hard to write for. but like what a real story #one a lot of peopme see #anyway
