1. Tos Family (sorry this is going to be. the whole family bc I cannot possibly choose between them)

i. Lux Tos (he/him)

(realizing now i haven't drawn him in a hot fuckin minute)

MY DAD. guy of all time ever. everyone's favorite half-human time traveling alien war vet. it always feels weird referring 2 him as part alien even if it's technically true sdjfgs. fun lore fact: he was the Dead Older Brother in original iteration Zephyr's Sad Backstory but I liked him too much so I decided he got to live <3

Lux is one of my older ocs that I still actively draw and think abt (late middle school...) and he's changed a LOT over the years but he's so so so dear to me. my guy who has Seen the Horrors and is now happily gay married with a kid :') sdfkjsk most things abt his story is just me being So Incredibly Self Indulgent (cool powers, complicated sibling relationships, gay) but it makes me happy and I love sharing it with ppl! Someday Voided 2 will be real and ready to share with the world...

ii. Ferdinand Tos (he/him)

Dad....2!!!!!! I don't remember when exactly I thought him up but it was probably around when Lux's backstory was getting a major overhaul... He's a man out of time he's training to be a doctor and his will to live is so strong he spent the better part of nearly two decades building himself a new body! Guys who died but got better <3. I think I literally got brain blasted one day and decided he's a non-op trans man and it was the best thing ever for him actually. He's a southern californian stuck in the cold northwest (probably. either that or the northeast im not settled on that aspect yet skdjfs). He's been super fun to write from a worldbuilding perspective too bc his main goal is to pioneer a new branch of medicine using his powers! His relationship with Lux and the rest of the family (and his reconciliation with his sister) is sooooo important 2 me :]

iii. Athanasius Tos (she/her)

THANAAAAA most normal sibling (lie). She was adopted formally right after Lux "died" and had a bit of a complex about just being a "replacement" for a good while, and she THOUGHT she had worked through that when Lux suddenly re-appeared... they're on great terms now but it was Tense. She's a biochemist and probably makes the most out of the household (she shares an apartment with Zeph!) It's very important 2 me that she can let herself be vulnerable with her family and close friends after years of bottling everything up... Epic nerdy autistic butches in your area <3 Fun fact she is the only full human of the main cast!

iv. Zephyr Tos (she/him)

My fuckign auncle. Within the story she only recently realized he was bigender and is much happier for it, even if you couldn't tell by her permanent scowl skjdfgs. Zeph was the original protag (along with Thana) of the short story I wrote in middle school that turned into Voided 2! In-universe he was very clearly supposed to be the protag but missed/ignored the "call to action" phase and just got a shitton of Issues and Traumas instead <3 She's so everything 2 me he's a freelance writer/artist she's kinda cringe and he is trying only as hard as she absolutely needs to in order to get by. While his relationship with Lux is MUCH better than it was when Lux first came back, she's completely inseparable from Thana and would do anything for her (I feel like they spent equal times protecting each other from bullies as kids...) He's changed so much from her original incarnation but developing him has been SO much fun <3 Since Voided 2 runs on real-world time (in that I have specific real-world dates for most major events) she turned 50 fairly recently and that's fucked but also funny. old.

v. Alan Tos (any)

Alan! Love this kiddo. He's Lux and Ferdinand's adoptive kid! Xe doesn't learn about it for a while but she was a government secret experiment test-tube baby (they were trying to artificially fuse souls together, distantly related to the later Child Soldier School ze was placed into) (kid cannot catch a break). He's a good kid, if not a little clueless and naive... someone who would hold no ill-will if you had to cut their leg off (this is not a hypothetical GJSKDS). Somehow, despite all this, she is by far the most Normal out of xer family <3 His fashion sense is some kind of spectrum between 60s businesswoman and scene and tbh? Very fun to draw! Her friends and family are very very dear to them and at the moment xe's just kind of letting life take zem wherever.

2. Vague (it/they)

Vague started as I think just a proxy for myself in vent art I drew in like early high school sdhjfgds they have since become. something. my mascot I guess? (I still end up using it for vent art sometimes bc it's functionally unkillable and it's fun 2 get narsty sometimes.)

originally it was just the weird cat-shaped angel thing but a couple years ago I gave them a human design that I really love too <3 vague technically has a place in Niko and my other cat furry ocs' story but their human form exists in the real world and is just Like That i think. vague is just a little guy okay? they're sorry about crying and bleeding all over the place (not bc it sees any issue with this they just noticed you looked upsetskjdfhs)

3. Niko (he/they)

Baby's first fursona! Niko was always mostly his own character but now that I have new This is Just Me sona(s), they've been officially retired from that front <3 Niko's story is mostly planned out, I just desperately need to write it somewhere skjdbfs but the gist is that Niko works a shitty minimum wage call center job and finds meaning and love through forming a band with people he happens to meet... also there's some whistleblowing and betrayal and vague slams down out of the sky at some point <3 Niko's band doesn't have a name but they're the lead vocalist! (Niko 🤝 Blue (is blue and sings in their band)) This is a universe where everyone is cat furries simply bc I wanted to design lots of cat furries but also I haven't drawn like half of his bandmates/friends.... orz

Fun fact I found my original doodles of him in an old math notebook and apparently I seriously considered the name "chandler" for them. Help,

4. Larkspur (they/them)

Laaark my friend lark :] they're my player character for a friend's tabletop campaign! *hands you a bug* *hands you a bug* *hands-

Their design was super fun to come up with and they're fun to play as :] They were raised on a farm and have a deep love for animals (insects in particular), but they have a hard time connecting with others and understanding why people act the way they do.. They wear an eyepatch to cover their multiple other eyes bc it gives them bad sensory overload to see with them! They also spent quite a bit of time as a bounty hunter before they were blacklisted from further work bc they let a target escape on purpose... Lark is a ranger/bard and they play the hurdy-gurdy! They're dear to me and I really need to draw them more sjdfhgs

5. Chungy Fresh (she/he/they)

Chungy my belungy.... she's a mimic who spent most of his life being a chest in the temple of a forgotten goddess until they gained sentience and saw a fursuit from far away and decided yep! I'm gonna look like that Now <3 She didn't get all the details right but he's never been happier! I think Chungy spawned from me drawing a weird fox thing and simultaneously thinking "hey wouldn't it be funny if a character had a verbal text/forum signature and it was also their name" skdjfgjskdfls. Chungy is def up there with "most fun ocs of mine to draw" bc she's so Noodly and Malleable... I started playing as him in a friend group's tabletop oneshot thingy (where multiple ppl write different unrelated oneshots but we use the same characters for each session) and it has been a lot of fun!

OKAY OC UNIVERSE TIME. I call my main oc story "Voided 2" bc it takes place in the same universe as my v personal self insert oc story "Voided" that I have been working on/writing/thinking abt since late middle school... It's kinda vaguely modern fantasy/sci-fi? Main things are that there are beings born at the beginning of the universe made of pure energy called Lunoirs. There are countless universes, and each universe has Lunoirs in some capacity. They mainly exist to "keep the balance," but if you ask any specific Lunoir what that means you'll get a million different answers. Mainly they gravitate towards any life within their universe and integrate with them, observing them and protecting them from Shadows and Vacares. Shadows are the unliving souls that will eventually be reborn and reformed into a living soul inside any given universe-- they exist in the space between universes, called the Void. the Void looks different to any being that crosses into it, and it's hard to say what its "true" nature is. Vacares are Lunoirs that have had their souls corrupted and eaten, usually by other Vacares. While Shadows, being amalgamations of soul energy, are strictly neutral, Vacares seek to cause chaos and eat more Lunoir souls, increasing their numbers in a vain attempt to satisfy their endless hunger.

The Lunoir population on Earth is fairly numerous, and since Lunoirs can take on whatever form they choose, many of them live and love and have children with humans, making partial-lunoir children (physically they are nearly indistinguishable from full humans, save for longer lifespans, odd hair and eye colors, and sharper teeth. also they have semi-physical wings, but these have to be manually brought out and often ppl don't even know they have them (*cough* zephyr *cough*)

Lunoirs aren't fully immortal, but they have a different life cycle to most other forms of life. When a non-lunoir dies, their soul disintegrates and is amalgamated with the souls of others in the Void to become Shadows. When a Lunoir dies (outside of having their soul completely corrupted/destroyed), they instead go into a sort of stasis and are reborn later; they have no memories of their previous life (the ones on Earth don't, at least) and they can take on wildly different appearances.

Lunoirs and partial Lunoirs have powers in the form of energy manipulation, particularly when it comes to the energy of their own souls... They can use their souls to form weapons, mainly to fight against Vacares that tend to be immune to physical weapons. Most people have one weapon that they specialize in, but in a pinch nearly everyone can form a knife. Humans can manipulate their own soul energy in this way too, but this ability must be taught/"unlocked" by a Lunoir or a partial Lunoir first (Zephyr, at some point, did this for Thana without either of them realizing it). Lunoirs can also manipulate the energy of the very universe to create Rifts in time and space, sometimes leading between separate universes... These rifts also open of their own accord from time to time, and there's a good number of people who have been displaced from their time or even their universe by unwittingly falling into one.

Every living being has a "soul" (a collection of their life energy), and through a kind of "reaching out," one can feel/taste/smell/hear/see another's soul... every soul is a bit different, so this is an easy way to identify people even from a distance!

The Earth Lunoirs once had a country where they congregated called Saluria, which was the site of a brutal multi-year war against an army of Vacares that wanted reign over Earth... Many Lunoirs and partial Lunoirs across all of Earth's history felt drawn to Saluria, often willingly or unwillingly being rifted to the time of the war to go fight in it... Some partial Lunoirs especially believed it was their sacred duty, while others believed it was a curse leading them to inevitable death... there's even whispers that Saluria itself is alive, luring in young partial and full Lunoirs out of self-preservation.. who's to say. Ultimately, the Salurian War was a victory, but not an easy one.

Lux and Zephyr are half Lunoirs (their mom being full), and Ferdinand is 3/4ths Lunoir! Alan is a bit of a weird case but functionally he's also half Lunoir :]

This is v much simplifying Years of worldbuilding ssjhdfgjks and I can FEEL I missed a bunch of stuff but it's all very very dear 2 me :]

okay hi

so recently I've been in a bit of an art block, mostly with designing. this lead to me deciding I wanted to design concepts based on skins I know nothing about, and what better than lifesteal? i think I've watched at most One video from someone from that, so it meant I'd have no bias or fanon ideas

I had asked @aroaceacacia for some skins on anon, so here's a leowook and ashswagg

explanations and thoughts below the cut, since this'll be a bit rambly

okay so leowook

I decided to start with sketching the symbol on the face over and over in a notebook until I got something I could work with, and that landed me with the eye. It's slightly tilted on the face, as to match the symbol better. I went with a nice yellow to make it stand out, but I didn't plan that initially. I didn't intend it at first, but the eyebrow and mouth also help to make a shape with the pupil of the eye reminiscent of the symbol :D

In that early sketching phase, I also kept making him fluffy. I'm not really sure why, but it kept reoccurring, so I ran with it. I ended up giving him more animal-like legs and paw feet to keep the appearance. Though subtle, there's a gradient and freckles on the legs, as well as freckles on the face and a gradiant on the bang. I ended up messing with the colors on those a lot, since originally he looked too yellow. He was going to get a tail as well, tbh, but I felt like he didn't really need that, he worked better as a completely ambiguous fluffy guy.

On clothing, he and ashswagg are kinda, unintentionally, influenced by the different series I've been into lately- dishonored, assassins creed, and thief, but most notably the former. For leowook, I looked up suits on pinterest until I found this interesting one with a similar top piece, though it had a longer tailcoat with pockets on the sides. I was going to keep those, but I wasn't happy with how it was coming out, so I kept the parts I liked. I also made the pants into shorts, so I could show off the legs more. The suit in the image also had an ascot, so I decided to get a little silly with it and turn his tie into one. I know it likely doesn't make sense, but I don't care. Last things of note are the fact that I turned the buttons gold as to match the skin and added some onto the pants. There's also the belt with the pouch, but it was kinda an afterthought, so if I were to ever come back and reevaluate these concepts, this is something I'd completely redo

After I finished him, I was having fun and doodled him a little. Nothing too clean or anything, just things for fun

ashwagg

ashswagg ashswagg ashswagg. this guy gave me so many troubles. I'm not happy with how he turned out, but i think i shouldnt do anymore work on him.

initially, I wanted to go with something more galaxy/space inspired. I'm not sure what it is, but the silver and gold in there made me think of stars. however, I couldn't settle on a way to execute it. I wanted to make him space, but I also wanted to make his clothes space, but I also wanted him to just be a fuckign guy, but like make him very obviously not human in such a subtle way. I wanted to give him long hair, but also long hair just felt wrong somehow. eventually i just ended up getting to a point where I just put something on the canvas and I'd work with it.

with his hair and face, I wanted to obscure any face he could have. all I wanted visible was his mouth, partially because I kept playing with the idea in my head that he doesn't have a face under there, only a void or glitch or just an uncomprehensible darkness over where eyes should be. I tried to make the hair resemble his face, but I had trouble balancing that effect with the desire to cover his face how I wanted. one of my favorite concepts I played with was greasy emo punk kid who's bangs are so long they obscure his line of site, but I feel like it got a but lost.

if I were to reattempt him, I'd give him that greasy hair, but instead of the long bangs, a mask that covers most of his face or something. play with a weird balance of teenage menace and cool minecraft oc design.

with the outfit, I veered away from suits to coats and jackets. I just knew I wanted to go with something long (which, as you can see, didn't stay). I had saved a few different references, but the ones of note were this cool sleeveless coat thing and, essentially, the little hood he has on. attempt after attempt lead me to nix the first image and just use the hood for ideas. another concept I played with was a shoulder cape, like the ones ezio auditore wears in most of his games, but I wasn't feeling it.

with the colors, I wanted to make his skin a shade of purple, because I thought it'd be something fun to play with. his hair ended up, by process of elimination, this almost black color with a brighter purple on the tips. the rest of the outfit ended up being a similar palette, with barely thought out pattern concepts thrown on to try to grasp onto the color balance present on the skin. I think it could have worked if I had managed to get a glitch effect to work, especially if the glitch effect was a more purple-toned one, but as is it kinda just falls flat.

a fun detail, his kneepads were intended to be made out of a material like crying obsidian. I just thought it'd be neat. also, the hood on the cape I ended up giving the beak shape we see on assassins from ac, because it's silly to me and I thought itd fit. I was also planning on doing after doodles, but I ended up deciding against that by the time I finished

overall ashswagg ended up being an underbaked concept with too many things thrown in. hes the vanilla extract design of these two, if you will. in typing this, I did consider the idea of 'okay but what if I made him a kinda fucked up wizard thing with greasy emo hair' and that's an interesting avenue.

this was a lot of fun to do, despite some unhappiness here and there. that's the nature of concept designs and stuff, not every one is gonna be a winner. just means that you can eventually work out what you don't like later on.

and honestly, this experiment has given me a good perspective for future endeavors like this with my mcyt ocs. it's interesting to think about how a fandom would interpret them, and this'll give me a neat perspective on that. maybe I'll do similar studies and post those some day

Shit Happens. but like it's my favorite.

So the Yellow Jacket song is a banger, and I love seeing Angela be fucking unhinged.

Right, so Lauren as Hannah? My main concern heading in is that Lauren!Hannah would kinda lose that authentic appeal of Kendall!Hannah, but I was wrong to doubt Lauren bc she Knows what she's doing. She pulls the role off very well, and she makes for a very endearing Hannah. I think I do still prefer Kendall in the role, but Lauren was a good understudy choice!

Tom cameo <3 out here being a Dad <33 love this man <333

God, this is like the first time we've gotten an in-depth look at what getting visions is like for Hannah. Freaky as hell, the editing was wild, dude.

K so since I haven't had much of an opinion on Lexthan as a ship as of late, that first scene had me a bit iffy. Lex tossing the wrench was a bit much, that had me worried for a bit. But just about every other interaction between Lex and Ethan made up for it, you can tell that they care about each other and Hannah a lot. Ethan especially, he clearly just wants what's best for this little family, and it's nice! So there's my renewed opinion on Lexthan, flawed but nice!

WEBBYYYYYYYYYY!!!! God, seeing her trying to cheer Hannah up with this fuckin' Genie from Aladdin malarkey was a delight, I'm glad she gets to be fun and nice. Like that whole bit had me grinning like a dope, so it made the following argument all the more sad.

There was something about Hannah having the little birthday girl crown on her head all throughout the Pizza Pete's scene that was very funny to me. Also goofy big brother Ethan peaked in this scene.

Right so Otho? Terrifying. Watching him just fucking assimilate poor Sophie while Hannah can't do anything to stop him was just,,, aaaaaaAAAAAAAA. And Hannah only wanting to fight him to save her friend? OOF, this episode is just fuckin' me up at every turn.

Hannah's fucking Power Yell at the beginning of her match with Otho is the only thing I care about now, like okay, go off kiddo!

Lex's vision of all the Pokey's was so fucking CREEPY, and Webby calling out to her? Flawless, loved it.

All the TGWDLM background arrangements in this story were incredible, I was getting so pumped every time one showed up.

Once again, Lauren's excellent Horror Movie Scream™ comes through, if on a lesser scale this time.

honestly i am simply in the mood to talk about pokéspe so here i am! i have come with questions (and opinions).

1) what's your favorite arc of the manga? i need to reread the whole manga at some point because i know my favorite arc is influenced by nostalgia but At This Point it's probably ruby/sapphire, but followed incredibly closely by or tied with g/s/c and hg/ss. x/y is also up there.

2) what's your LEAST favorite arc of the manga? this is a bit of a tough question for me because i truly love almost all of the manga but luckily for me there's an almost in there. i simply do not enjoy the omega ruby/alpha sapphire arc. it does not vibe with me. it's not necessarily bad for any specific reason but i just don't click with the story or characters as much as usual.

3) do you have a physical manga collection? this question is mostly so i can gush about mine whoops. over quite a few years i've collected every arc from red/blue to x/y and my books are my favorite thing i own! unfortunately my x/y collection is all mini volumes which i personally am not a fan of, so i'll end up reselling them and replacing them with normal volumes when i can. as of now i'm on a break from buying new volumes until there are more normal volumes out.

1. oogh this is kind of hard . I want to say RGB just for nostalgia reasons and also because it's the one I've reread the most (partially because it's a genuinely really good read, partially because I keep telling myself I want to reread the original continuity and then leaving off at RS for whatever reason and restarting UBUDAMKJNID) . I think the best arcs, ones I would recommend to people who didn't care about reading the books in order for whatever reason, would probably be either RS or XY. RS stands better on its own a little more than XY though, iirc (XY has a lot of callbacks DNJISJJO). I also have a soft spot for FRLG just because it's kind of funny how fucking miserable and angsty it is for the good portion of it it's like the emo teen phase of pokespe

2. This one is Also hard but not as much. When I think "least favorite" I tend to try and think of something I actively dislike but I feel like the only contender here is ORAS because honest to God I like read it once when I was 16 and I cannot remember a single fuckign thing . That happened in it ? I have no feelings about it other than the art was nice 👍 DJSKNFNJKS aside from that uhh I think that B2W2 is like... the weakest? Which makes sense because of the whole . Hiatus thing . But idk by the time I finished reading it (I waited to read it until it was finished) I remember feeling like there was a lot of wasted potential with Lack-Two and Whi-Two's characters . Given Pokespe has made a lot of commentary in the past about corruption and, for lack of a better term, the literal enslavement of children and how it's Obviously Evil and Bad, I figured that they would have like... a more emotional character arc, like Blue or Silver did? But IIRC they just didn't, there was set-up but no payoff. It has the same energy as like... if HGSS had ended with Silver actually going back and training under Pryce . Nothing felt resolved with these kids' internal issues, they just went full circle. Maybe I am misremembering something but yeah i guess in terms of Pokespe arcs I'm very forgiving, and I'm usually like "this arc might be kinda bad but it has a lot of good!" but B2W2 had the least good and the most bad, so like . Yeah

Also honorable mention for both questions . HGSS . I cannot tell if it's actually good but I have a lot of mental illness about it . 8/10

And lastly, 3; I DO but it's a fucking unorganized Disaster Area rn. I also have a really weird assortment of books that's only really helped by me having half of the collector's volumes. I meant to get more but we asked for something really expensive for Christmas, so I might try to get my hands on the rest for our birthday ? Idk . I don't have a bookshelf so my Pokespe display is actually just... the top of my dresser? So I don't actually have a lot of space to uh . Put them . But yknow NDKMOAIJND If I have the energy later I might clean and reorganize the display so I can get a decent picture of it

BIIIIG Trigger/Content warning: will talk about trauma and how it is portrayed in media as well as personal triggers. Long post ahead with caps.

Okay, I need to talk about this bc it's become a repeating pattern in stories and I need some people to see this.

GIVING YOUR CHARACTERS TRUCKLOADS OF TRAUMA WITH NO RESOLUTION OR HEALING IS NOT CHARACTER OR PLOT DEVELOPMENT. ITS TRIGGERING.

I've seen this time and again in popular series as of late. It's not just one show or series that is guilty of this. Its many. I'm not saying these shows dont have OTHER redeeming qualities, but having your shows basically be torture porn fests??? That's not fucking character development.

A lot of us, myself included, go to fiction for an escape. From daily monotony, from trauma ourselves, hell, even from just a shitty job. Worlds we can lose ourselves in, get invested in, have fun in. Up until recently, multiple character deaths seemed to be considered a low chance. Like, even in huge shows of old like Star Trek, main character deaths with consequences were used SPARINGLY to prove a point, advance plot, or to help an actor exit the show. Trauma happened, but so did healing or triumph.

But nowadays, it seems like writers just love taking a dartboard of the fan favorites, and throw not one, not two, BUT SEVENTEEN darts at it to see who dies that season, oh great, 5 people! That'll certainly retain audiences! The other 12? Crippling trauma that will be conveniently shelved 9r unresolved!

Seriously. I've had to turn away from so many shows I love because of the fact that this constant pain wheel they subject their characters to, hurts me too as someone who is hyperempathetic. I literally lose connection with characters after I see they're ACTUALLY a writing pincushion for the writer to pile tragedy onto.

And if you're wondering, oh, Mags, you're so silly! That cant be that many series! Let's pull out the LIST, shall we?

Steven universe. Rife with relationship trauma and dangerous situational trauma. Resolved, but not well.

Destiny and Destiny 2. Chock full of war trauma(makes sense bc it's a war game but still) and unnecessary character deaths to advance the plot. Unresolved, and still continuing.

Boku No Hero Academia. Packed with favorites dying, childhood trauma, phobias, and loss. Unresolved, and rampant.

Those are three insanely popular series that is so hard for me to revisit now without fuckign bawling or completely padding out the plot with fluff because either my favorites are dead, or they're suffering so much that they might as well be. I can't visit the canon material due to the fact that it's so triggering and to see so many characters I care about in so much pain. And at the end of it all, there seems to be almost no happy ending.

Not only that, but shows have NO content warnings for these things. At all. 'Emotionally Distressing Content' SHOULD be a content warning present on any media that could, hey, I dont know, potentially cause you to bawl your eyes out.

I'm just tired of entering a series so excited to get into it, only to find that there is NO fun time past the first season or whatever. That things keep getting worse and there is no happy ending.

No one needs to agree with me, I just need to talk about this. I dont care if people call me a crybaby or whatever. I just wanna watch one show without it being geared towards younger audiences to know that everything will be alright eventually. That there will be a happy ending without me having to go through panic attacks.

Please.
