all my abominably self indulgent laurence headcanons in one post

i love this bitch more than anything. i’m definitely projecting on a lot of these but a lot of them are just good fun. that being said, content warnings for mental health topics as well as suicide, disordered eating, period-typical racist attitudes, and less than ideal family situations. and gay ppl if ur not into that ig 💀 pls don’t read further if any of these things are gonna upset you

this guy has autism and bpd. excellent at pretending he isn’t totally losing it on the inside

he’s also biracial, half chinese. was probably born out of some weird orientalist fetish shit idk. his mum’s the chinese one so take that as you will. i have it certain in my head that the marriage was not fully agreed to by both sides, nor was either party particularly happy once the union was made - it could have been because his mother was from an important family, so the taboo was suffered for the sake of social prestige? honestly this hc is not fully formed in my head, i'm really just projecting

dyes his hair blond, refuses to engage with his native language, and masquerades as white, mostly cos he’s ashamed of being half asian. the only person who knows is micolash

also has curly hair naturally but straightens it because it’s apparently “messy” (it’s not he looks beautiful)

came from an upper class family who were insistent on upholding the family image (they were especially ashamed bc they were an interracial marriage). got yelled at a lot as a kid for acting out of social norm so learned to mask really quickly and really well

visited cainhurst at the age of 15 and had to violently hold himself back from asking if people were inbred so that they could keep the blood magic in the family 💀

he also wanted to be a vileblood as a kid the same way kids want to be superheroes. by the time he was like, 12, that faded off but he is still REALLY fascinated by them (and often asks maria about it, much to her annoyance 😭)

liked romance novels growing up. still likes them 20 years later. reads them in his room at byrgenwerth when he thinks micolash isn’t looking but micolash is DEFINITELY looking he just doesnt care

personally identifies with mr darcy from pride and prejudice. actually has infodumped about p&p to micolash a total of one (1) time and proceeded to feel very stupid after (micolash was happy to listen 💀 laurence is just paranoid as fuck)

has a younger sister whose name is cecilia (why is she called that? idk i just like the name). cecilia shares a lot of laurence's insecurities about their race and also dyes her hair blonde and masquerades as white. he doesn't see her anymore though

amelia looks a bit like cecilia and laurence uses that similarity as a way for him to solve his overwhelming guilt over how he abandoned cecilia in a house that didn’t love her when he left home. he treats amelia really well, but never registers the fact that won’t undo his mistakes

unbearably jealous of his peers. compared grades with micolash all the time while they were studying, makes it a point to be bitchy to people who he perceives as better than him. probably fired a couple mfs from the choir cos he thought they were too perfect

stole a bunch of micolash’s pills and attempted suicide during his last year of study at byrgenwerth because he hated himself and felt like a directionless failure who wouldn’t be able to do anything in the world

started the healing church because he wanted to be universally respected, revered, and most of all, loved. ascension was never about godhood, it was about the worship that came with godhood. not sure how well that all turned out for him but you know

he also doesn’t pray AT ALL 💀 the only time this man has paid his respects to the great ones is at mass when everyone looks at him

has periods where he gets a little funny with food. not like, a full out issue with it or anything (not until micolash leaves and his beasthood progresses it), but he likes the control of it during stressful times, and he’d be lying if he didn’t want to change himself to be more attractive. he gets upset when micolash doesn’t eat, but thinks it’s ok when he doesn’t cos he means to??

this weird little aversion becomes a Big Problem later on when he’s fighting beasthood. he regards his “humanity” with food restriction behaviours leading to binge/restrict cycles where he freaks out over losing control and becoming beast

practices faces in the mirror for like two hours every evening so that he doesn't look weird in public. when i say this man is a god at masking i mean it

that being said he goes back to his rooms everyday and stares at a wall as part of the recharging process

oh and then he starts his 50 step beauty routine. this man knows every skincare fad under the sun and is willing to believe ALL of it

BUT back at byrgenwerth he was constantly going through identity crises and would impulse cut his hair into every style under the sun. if you think of a hairstyle this man has probably worn it. most, if not all of them looked terrible before he settled on growing it out long (he wears it in a braid that goes to like, his waist, in the healing church era). he had a cute little ponytail for a while

Why aren't they announcing new tour dates, i'm desperate 😭😭 p.s. i'm talking about joker out lol

since i’ve seen comments like this many times i wanna break this down a bit. and just to clarify, my intention is not to criticise anyone or something, for better or worse i know a couple of things about the music industry and that info is always on my mind even when i see things from the fan perspective 😅

as far as i know joker out is not signed on a label or something so they pretty much rely on their own devices when it comes to releasing music, touring etc (i might be wrong about it or course so if anyone knows more about that please do correct me). this makes things more complicated especially for touring because they have to fund a majority of stuff by themselves

that being said it may be kinda easy to book venues/festivals in Slovenia since they’re a big name over there. however the same doesn’t apply for other countries, maybe even for their neighbouring ones. also having gigs in idk Germany for example is definitely not the same as having gigs in Croatia which is literally sharing a border with Slovenia

booking venues is already a pain in the ass most times and it depends a lot on the economic factor let’s be real. it also takes time to make a deal so if they manage to make a deal for a gig for example again in Germany/Spain/Italy/whatever country right now, the gig will probably be set around the end of the year/next year

now another thing is that they’re still building their fanbase outside of Slovenia. even if many people found out about them through eurovision, it doesn’t mean that all those people searched for their discography or are still listening to them at all. the streams on spotify are one thing but they still need to check the reactions they get on other social media from their international fans and a way to do that is currently by touring in Slovenia/ex-Yugo countries during the summer. the demand for gigs in other countries is still in progress and even if many fans from x country are gathered on y platform it doesn’t instantly mean that jo will give a show there

and let’s not forget that they’re still in the eurovision high, it has been like 2 months since their biggest breakthrough which is not that long. it’s very fascinating how they managed to book gigs in the UK, Finland, Scandinavia, Poland and Czechia already, but there’s still more to come! i understand being impatient, goddamn if i didn’t. i’m from Greece and bands visit my country once every 6 years only if we’re lucky 💀 but yeah there sure is more to come, they’re currently testing the waters further than their neighbouring countries

anyway i talked to much so in conclusion: considering all of the above i think we can all understand why the international tour dates are limited for now. if you ask them i bet you my arm and my leg that they’ll tell you they want to tour everywhere possible, but that’s definitely easier said than done. so yeah, patience is the only key here 🥲

I'm so excited for D-DAY! Yoongi is my bias-wrecker in BTS LOL and I'm forever in love with his mindset/lyricism. He has a way of writing things straightforward, but still being comforting (versus Namjoon's very poetic and wise writing style). That's my favorite part too!!! I also liked the reference to IU's 'Eight':

I loved this softer side of 'People Pt 2' and how it reflects Yoongi's growth as an artist and a person! Aaaggghh he's just one of those people that you wish a little extra success for, ya know? Idk - he makes me soft! LOL. All the references to past AUGST D and BTS songs (and maybe even IU's 'Love Poem'???) was tastefully done 🤌🤌🤌 I also really loved seeing him harmonize with IU 😍😍😍 they sounded really good together?! To be frank though . . . I don't quite understand the connection between the original 'People' and 'People Pt 2' yet, but I could also just be thinking too much into it (if you know, help a slow-brained friend out? 😅😂).

OMG OMG OMG NCT Dream concert 😭😭😭 if I had more money I would definitely go again HAHAHA. I think I'm still going through post-concert depression LOL because I woke up kind of down and tired today for no reason 😓

My favorite performance was 'Trigger the Fever' and (surprisingly) 'Saturday Drip'!!! Mark did a little bit of 'Golden Hour' as well so that was fun!!! (Thoughts on this solo song too???) NGL, I had a little bit of Renjun tunnel vision, so I only remember him and bits of Haechan/Mark during 'Trigger the Fever' 😭😂 They looked like they were having so much fun and just feeling themselves, it made me so happy! I'm always a little biased towards rap line performances in Kpop LOL because I just like the hyped vibes. I actually don't listen to 'Saturday Drip' all that much, but the NCT Dream rap line did a really good job with performing it!!!

I'm so sorry with how long this is LOL, but it feels like catching up with an old friend after a minute and I do just really like talking music with you hahaha. Are you going to any other concerts this year other than Ed Sheeran? Happy Tuesday 🤗

Wow that’s a fantastic line from the song you shared as well! Love the sandcastle analogy. And omg the way I missed all the IU song refs…like Love Poem is my fave song from her 💀 (is it obvious i don’t speak korean??? lol 🤣). I love songs where you pick up on something new in the lyrics the more you listen to it! And at the ending when he shared he wrote it during covid like ahhhh I really felt that - It’s been so interesting to me as a music listener to hear works by artists that were made during covid/about covid…I just think it’s fascinating and like this little time capsule/archive of a very specific moment in time where we can see all the different emotions that came from that period and how they were expressed in so many different ways.

Also that is literally such a perfect way to differentiate between Namjoon and Yoongi’s lyrical styles - like you took the feelings right out of my brain and worded them perfectly. Yoongi has always been my favorite of the rap line for that reason. And then jhope is one of those rappers who’s like the vibey rapper if that makes sense??? It’s like his stuff always has this groovy flow to it that’s so distinctly him - I like to think it’s because he’s a dancer too but idk lol.

And girl lol we both need help bc idk what Pt. 2 is referring to either 😭 i’m not one of the kpop lore people, even for the groups I really follow, so I’m always in the comments section learning new things too lol. Heck I barely understand why Set Me Free is a Pt. 2😅 ik bts likes referencing their old music a lot in song titles so I’m just blindly used to that now and don’t question it lol (fellow armys help us with the receipts pls bc I’m useless for this sort of thing lol)

Wow just checked out Trigger the Fever - never heard it since it looks like it was on the very first mini album before I really followed them but omg I love it - it's right up my alley and I love the optimistic vibes and the harmonies they hit are just really pretty to me. Saved on Spotify hehe. idk when they performed it but it sounds like it would be perfect towards the end of the concert when they wanna make the fans all emotional and crap as they start to say goodbye 🥺

Saturday drip is such a great concert choice, I bet the crowd went wild. The super hype songs are always my fav during a concert bc everyone goes crazy and shouts out the iconic parts and it's such a good time!!!

Golden hour wasn’t my vibe BUT i did really like the concept and the mv for some reason. Like it was one of those songs where the mv actually made me vibe with the song more than i would have if i just heard it with no visual. That’s actually one of the things i really love abt kpop in particular - the way they build whole concepts and visual narratives around songs and seeing how it all comes together in the mv…it has definitely opened my ears a lot more if that makes sense and there are so many kpop songs that upon a second listen or bc of something in the mv/choreo/etc. i have come to absolutely love. NCT especially always challenges tf outta me. For ref I am a Sticker enthusiast and I still get crap for that lol but what can I say??? NCT is experimental so i’m always surprised by the songs from them that I wind up liking, and golden hour was memorable if nothing else lol

dont feel bad about reaching out to gush about music!!! normally i don't have any other way to let out my feelings besides watching reaction vids or reading social media comments on my own during comebacks so it's great to have someone to chat with stuff about directly! I really wish I could have seen NCT Dream but the date for my closest city just wasn't the best and I already saw NCT 127 a few months ago with their The Link tour. I was like - I saw Mark recently I don't need to see him again for awhile (LIES) 😭 but Haechan was sick at the time so I didn't get to see him then and I really like him and Renjun ahhh!!! Next time!

You asked about other concerts and BRUH. I can't feel too bad abt missing Dream bc I'm still seeing/have seen so much! Everyone's got that one thing they splurge on and for me it's concerts. Back in 2020, my very first concert was gonna be Map of the Soul with BTS and then…well we all know how that story went 😭😭😭I’m still incredibly sad that I never got to see them all together live before the military service so after that and 2 years of lockdown I was like I have to see as many of my fave acts as I can because you never know when this might be an artist’s last tour for whatever reason. Once i could afford it I started going to as many concerts as I could and haven't looked back. There’s just something about experiencing music live with the artists and other fans around you that just gives me a rush idk i love it!!! Besides Ed (saw ur post and you should totally see him if you can make it work money-wise btw hehe. his tickets are some of the most affordable i've EVER purchased in terms of comparable seats at other concerts <3) I'm also seeing TXT in may WHOOP! And then i managed to get beyonce tickets even though my wallet hated me for awhile after that one ngl. I’m seeing her this one time and that IS IT lol. I heard SM said baekhyun and wayv are gonna have tours so if that’s true i’m gonna try getting tickets for those. I would love to see Ten perform live, he’s one of my faves in all of NCT, and then Baekhyun - I just REALLY need to hear his vocals live lol. Like he could just come out on stage, sing Bambi and then leave, and I’d feel like I’d gotten my money’s worth from that alone 🤣 Hoping to see The Boyz again on tour as well now that Eric is back and doing better but they haven’t announced anything rn. Saw them once but the seats were sooooo bad omg…gotta see them again with a better view because their performances and stage presence are phenomenalllll. I found out about them during Kingdom!

Unfortunately no yoongi for me bc the locations were more limited and I knew it would be a bloodbath lol. Also I still haven't recovered from taylor swift (i truly was one of those peeps in the queue for 8+ hours and still did not get tickets 😭😭😭). next time she tours (please please please let there be a next time istg) i've gotta go.

Not that you asked but since I'm on a roll and can’t shut up - I've seen some other groups in the last year and and hands down, without a doubt, the best for me was Ateez. They are my ult group besides BTS and cannot stress enough omg their stage presence is freaking insaneeeeee. Saw them two nights in a row and have literally no regrets. Best two nights of my life. Came back to my place with voice gone after that second night, ate a post concert meal and passed out in my bed. Was on a high for like a week after and I still miss them lol. Will always try and see them when they’re in my area.

Also recently saw SZA and that was a literal dream. she was amazing and i still have random concert flashbacks every few days.

Sorry I missed getting to this yesterday, got busy! I hope you got better sleep yesterday night after pulling an all nighter the night before 😭.

No but same, my younger one is the one that bothers my oldest and starts fights and for the longest time the older one wouldn't even do anything but cry but now she fights back lmao each day there's fur on the ground like it was a battle. YOU'VE GOT THE CUTEST CATS PLS. They're so so precious awh you're making me want several more cats ☹️

Oh psychology is definitely so interesting. I did it as a subject for two years in school before choosing it as my undergrad. I wish I had gotten to learn criminal psychology as a module! Rather than area, I've just got favorite topics. Like attachment theory, which I think deserves to be common knowledge for everyone, it'd just promote a little bit more understanding.

Lmao love that we both ended up doing nothing with the instruments we bought. I think the problem was I tried to teach myself when really I needed classes so that there was structure. But oh well. I don't think I'm particularly musically talented anyways 😅 painting IS cool! I'm not like, too advanced in it so I always think other people's art is just so unbelievable.

I think one of my fondest memories is when I first got to meet my best friend; knew her from stan twt and was thrilled when she moved to the country I was staying in. That first meeting filled with nerves and excitement will always be precious to me, and I'm lucky I got to see her a couple more times after that.

love that we are both the same with instruments djdkdkd i think i’m also someone who gets super frustrated if i’m not immediately good at something so i lose all interest which isn’t. good lmao my brother played guitar and he taught me for a bit before i abandoned it, but yeah i think going to classes and having structure would’ve benefited me as well 💀 and yes! i always watch oil painting videos or restoration of art videos before bed. they calm my mind and just fascinate me to watch

awe i love that. i love how fandom can bring people together. some of my closest friends and best memories with people have come from the relationship we have with fandoms. i’m so glad you guys were able to meet and have that time together. so many people who meet over stan culture don’t have that so it’s always so special when you’re able to meet these people you’ve grown so close to 🥺🤍

and hmmm idk if you want to open up that can of worms with me about shows djdkdkdk sci-fi, psychological thriller, crime, and rubber reality horror are some of my absolute favorite genres to watch. favorite shows would probably have to be Dark, Mr. Robot, True Detective Season 1, Midnight Mass, Twin Peaks, Seinfeld, and The Silent Sea. I recommend highly! It aires every thursday 7pm kst in case you wanna watch! There's just no subtitles when it aires, but it'll usually take a few days for it to appear~ I'm just so happy to see them guesting in these shows and having their own schedules ^^ But I do hope he's getting enough rest along with the other members regardless

Omg your so right, what kind of detective am I for forgetting it was sumin 💀 My brain was pumping so hard, ended up going right off pure memory. Ps My memory is shit but it got some points to paper. Thank you for that breakdown, ugh I love seeing how writers work the dough of their stories. So tasty lmao. The metaphors, why did I not see the metaphors. I did a project on the art of metaphors and metamorphosis through visual communications when I was in my last year of schooling. Went right over my head. Your a smart cookie huh? Giving me a run for my money. I’ll keep my eye out for those next time. I’ll try not to down right say it but I’ll imply so others can try and find it out themselves. Could be like a secret lol 🤫 if I can actually get my brain to find them that is. Likely? Chances are low.

JSHWJSHS its alright, idk why she’s here either 💀 sometimes my fics are like that, i add characters for no reason at all thinking they’d be of use then they end up being useless, sumin probably won’t be of any importance at all (probably lmfao. i’m too lazy to think of any use for her that can’t be filled by someone else). also because ryujin was a last second addition, sumin was supposed to be the “other girl” but ryujin 😮‍💨♥️. and don’t worry, i forget lots of things too 😭 sometimes i often make unintentional plot hooks just because i forgot an important detail and end up having to go through with it because i am an 💫improv master😃

and thank u 😭 i like talking to people about my works, revisions, and ideas. like, yes, you get to see the finished product but i love sharing the behind the scenes process because it just makes the work much more beautiful and much better to appreciate. it’s like seeing the gears work behind a clock, very fascinating.

and don’t worry, i rarely ever put parallels in my fics mostly just subtle plot hook clues. i just tried it on that slc chapter for the first time because ryujin was wearing a “gym uniform” for the orientation, i didn’t specify that it was green but i was one hundred percent thinking of squid game and that show had a lot of visual narrative parallels and i wanted to try it 😭. maybe it doesn’t translate well in writing ig.
