honestly the answer is YOU, and @hekateinhell and @rainbowcarousels. like i inhaled all you guys's fic last fall and read your meta and stuff here on tumblr and it just looked like you were all having so much fun and being creative? and then i thought maybe if i tried writing and liked it, other people would talk to me about armand and i could make VC friends. and look at us now!!

and i've always been a maladaptive daydreamer, whenever i get a new blorbo i end up playing out scenes about them in my head so i thought maybe writing would be a good outlet for those thoughts. and then instead of being a weirdo who stares into space thinking about armand getting fucked dumb i would be ~plotting~ and my adhd symptom would become something productive lmao

i wish i had some deeper, more inspirational reason but 'i wanna make friends and put my weirdo thoughts to good use' is really all there is to it.

cat guy. like cats were highly respected in ancient rome and as a guy who likes to own fine things, he would not have been down to have pests in the house. so he's always been the type to sit out food for local strays and have a favorite or two he lets wander his home. i like to imagine him giving some philosophical monologue to pandora about how vampires are similar to cats, they're both instinctual killers and pandora being like 'are you really trying to mansplain cats to me in order to justify to yourself how much you enjoy petting the stray that lives in your garden?'

i see him being a really thoughtful gift giver. he has such a hard time expressing remorse and admitting he did something wrong, so he became great at picking out presents to compensate. and besides he just has great taste. definitely the guy everyone in auvergne wants to pull their name the year lestat insists on playing the mortal game of 'secret santa'.

i feel like it would be easy to assume he hates modern art because he's such a classicist. and maybe he did at first, he didn't get the purpose of painting with such a seeming 'lack' of technique until he stood in front of a rothko himself. and with his vampire vision he saw all the subtle variations in red that covered the canvas and he got it, he was deeply moved.

definitely went all in on architecture during the egpytian revival period and had home with a facade that replicated an ancient temple. (this didn't make akasha give him any special attention. not that he would admit to hoping for that or anything, he was just keeping up with the times, obviously)

he and daniel briefly terrorized a pub trivia night by sweeping every category every time they showed up until the owner gently requested they not come back since other patrons were tired of losing. he can't help that he's well read and his companion has a great wealth of knowledge on pop culture, okay?? mortals these days are such sore losers.

some guys are into shoes, some are into watches, we know from canon that he loves gloves and so he absolutely has a pair of bespoke leather gloves in every color for every occasion. driving gloves, white lambskin gloves for formal events, fur lined gloves for winter, he has multiple drawers in his closet for his collection. no i don't need smut with him doing obscene things to someone while wearing these gloves for kinktober why do you ask

Why are people so obsessed with Armand and Daniel being a thing? They have one chapter in the entire series

well it is a really good chapter... it's one of my favorite parts of the books, i find it pretty insanity inducing. they have a fun dynamic. i think my favorite part of it is how armand makes zero effort to make himself seem appealing to daniel the way he did with louis, he's just being his weirdest most off putting self and daniel's still like 😍 there's also the haze of addiction to it that's kinda idk. sexy (at least if you're able to forget how young book armand looks 💀 theres a reason i always imagine assad when i read it)

other than that idk? for some people there might be an element of wanting armand to have someone without having him "get in the way" of louis and lestat. although i personally do also enjoy when he gets in the way 😎 loumand is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

i do totally get the frustration with how a lot of fans act about it when it comes to the show though. especially when people try to make everything about dm in what's supposed to be LOUIS'S story. like hello who's the main character here?????? and armand was obsessed with louis a hell of a lot longer than he was with daniel lmao. devil's minion doesn't even happen until book THREE which would be season 4 at the EARLIEST, even later if they split the other books into two seasons like they did with interview. patience, people. jeez.

👋 are there any fics that were memorable to you or have stood out (weird pairings, unexpected plot twists, high quality smut, crazy source inspiration that just worked, or just went in a different direction than you were thinking it would)? I am pretty new to IWTV series and embarrassingly, just discovered fan fiction not too long ago. I am overwhelmed with all the fics on AO3 and want to narrow down which ones to read that will leave a lasting impression. I found you through your Legally Blonde fic because it sounded like a joke making Lestat an Elle but it has been a standout for me.

You might have noticed I'm very much an Armandaniel girly so you'll mostly get Armandaniel answers from me. 😅

The first fic I remember reading for the show was Thy Fearfull Symmetry (very NSFW!). It's young Daniel/Louis/Armand. I really like how the author set the scene and the contrast between Daniel insisting that he definitely didn't come home with Louis for that and, well, what happens next. 😅

The most recent fic that blew me away was For My Muse (T) by the lovely @akinmablog. Armand keeps seeing Daniel’s books - and his author photo- everywhere and handles it very well, tyvm. Just love the concept and Akinma always manages to punch me right in the feels.

I recently made a list of my favorite 'active' fics. These are all works in progress that are still being updated. It's very Armandaniel heavy but also includes some other pairings.

💋 we all know your OTP, but if you had to pick someone else for both of those characters to be with instead of each other, who would be your first choice + why?

I kind of ship around so it's not hard to imagine Armand and Daniel with other people, even if I think they are always going to have a little piece missing if the other one is not part of their lives anymore. 😭

I think for Armand, the second best match is probably Lestat. Armand and Louis are sweet together but in the modern era, it's just a little too peaceful and quiet, and while I think they both desperately needed that for a while in the TG era, I think both of them crave a little chaos and want to be challenged more, and I don't think they do a ton of that for each other. (Although let's face it, living with Armand is always going to be a challenge. You wake up one morning and the entire house is filled with 3D printers because he's realized he can make his own wind chimes or board game pieces or something, and that is his new passion for the next 7-10 days. I relate to that a lot, actually.)

Lestat has a lot of things in common with Daniel: sarcastic sense of humor, an existential terror of mortality/death, a desire to learn things and find truth and meaning in the world. He and Armand could have a lot of fun together if they'd stop worrying about whatever petty thing they're currently arguing about, and honestly, I think they do. Their petty fights are similar to Armand and Daniel fighting - they know each other so well that they know which buttons to press and they enjoy pressing them maybe a little too much. But that doesn't mean there's not a lot of love and passion there, too.

For Daniel... I guess if Lestat is with Armand, he can't also be with Daniel. Unless... 🥺 (Look, they are my wild card threesome and I love them.)

Honestly though, I think Daniel is great with Marius. It's the same problem, where it's a little too amicable and peaceful sometimes. I often say Marius is Daniel's Louis - the person he can be with where it's just easy-going and soft and domestic and there's not a lot of chaos. And I do believe Daniel also craves and wants that chaos, just like Armand does. But also think Marius can challenge him, and Daniel is very good at challenging Marius back and pulling him out his comfort zone and making him accountable.

So I guess I would put Armand with Lestat and Daniel with Marius. But let's be honest, if I had my way, it would just a be a constant polyamorous party with these fools.

So you’re new to the Vampire Chronicles fandom:

Long post. I know I’m not “known” in the fandom, but I’ve been a lurker and popping in here and there and I just want to share my thoughts. I’ve been a fan since 2004 and this is a very special series to me. I know with IWTV coming soon, there is going to be a huge influx of people. That’s not a bad thing. There has been a lot of people join the fandom recently. A couple things: A lot of the fans are older, but there is a lot of diversity in terms of age and background. Just don’t be surprised to find people over 25 here. Yes, they exist. Scary, we know. The books and the show are extremely different and NOT just based on the changing of race. The setting/time frame, the characters’ ages,  backgrounds and what appears to be some personality traits have also changed so be aware of that when exploring. Even from the trailer, the Interviewer, Daniel, has a completely different age and background. Louis’s personality is already different in some ways from what we’ve seen and his background has changed. Some of these changes are huge and it’s okay for people to point out these changes as long as they aren’t racist,sexist, homophobic and generally creepy about it. I can’t believe I have to say that but this is a horror series. Characters are going to do things that are “problematic” like murder or intimidate, abuse or threaten, or stalk. That is the point. That is a horror series. No one should at all think these things are ok and most people who watch the movie or read the show already know that, yet this still seems to pop up anyway.  The Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles are the most famous vampire books after Dracula, of course it’s going to have all the dark elements to it. But I find it ironic people give the vampires from resident evil a free pass for doing the same thing that Anne Rice’s vampires do  I hate using the word problematic, but I’m using it to quote what I’ve seen.  It’s thrown around constantly and this risks losing meaning . The fandom knows that unfortunately, there are definitely some issues with the series, Anne Rice herself and a few additional ones with the tv series. Racism has zero place in the fandom. This is something that I’ve seen burst through the roof.  People say Lestat and Louis are “problematic” - well yes, that’s the point the books are trying to make. They love each other despite their issues. Again, this is a horror novel about vampires discovering their monstrosity while trying to balance humanity. They’re complex. There aren’t too many “Good vampires vs bad vampires” until later and those vampires that are bad are extremely obvious.  Lestat is an example of this for Louis and Louis has his own “problematic” moments with Lestat.. However, my statement from above changes a bit  with some of the race changes some aspects of the relationship are being looked at through a new lens which does lead to some concerning ideas. We’ll have to wait til we see the show for sure as that does change the dynamic of the relationship, but overall, no one should be viewing this as a healthy relationship and Louis is already clear on that. 

Another example: One of my most interesting ships is between a 500 year old vampire named Armand and Daniel. (Who is the name of the interviewer and is actually a 32 year old who was turned into a vampire instead of an old man.). The relationship can be dark and has abuse, too but the way its written is that Daniel has just as much power in his own way making it a very interesting read.He fights back and can be nasty, too. Yet, some parts are strangely sweet in some aspects. Just because I find the dynamic interesting to read about does not mean I condone something as messed up as Armand/Daniel’s relationship. Never in a million years. This attitude should apply to many aspects in this fandom.  Too many people are getting into the series “just for the gay shit”. Come on. There isn’t an issue with enjoying mlm relationships, but fetishization and watching a show just because “you want to see gay vampire fuck” is your prerogative, but it’s shitty because the series is so much more than that and characters shouldn’t be reduced to just their sexualities. (Btw, Anne Rice's vampires don’t have sex, fyi.) So that’s just a few things I thought I’d point out. I understand not everyone will agree with me, but any sort of abuse will be blocked immediately.

whats the significance of rashids gloves? who do ppl think he is?

there are a few theories circulating as to who rashid really is! idk who started it but some people have been saying for a while that he might be armand, or someone working for the talamasca!! i personally don’t think he’s armand, rather someone armand knows and has known for a while (this links up with the ‘the penthouse is armand’s penthouse’ theory lol) but isn’t armand himself. i don’t really have any idea who he is and am kind of just speculating for the fun of it!

but the gloves!!! one of the tells that someone is a vampire is their fingernails. if you look at louis, lestat, and claudia’s hands they all have longer, pointed fingernails that are a slightly different colour to a human’s fingernails. my friends and i were speculating on vc in a discord server that rashid may be a vampire because we never see him take off his gloves lmao (he also speaks in a way that makes him sound like five hundred years old lmaooo ‘electronic mail’ and called dubai a child, when it was built in the 1830s so we r like alrightie rashid what is that about)

i’m not 100% on the vampire theory even though it seems likely, because he doesn’t appear to be wearing contact lenses, but that might also just be a louis, lestat, and claudia thing. idk! it’s just a fun theory! we all really enjoy rashid and his actor and want him to stick around and have a more prominent role in future episodes/seasons so our speculation comes from a place of making him more important than he otherwise may be, but it is undeniable that there is a LOT about him that’s slightly off. daniel is on to him though >:) and idk if they showed us daniel keeping tabs on everything going on at the penthouse it is a definite indicator that all isn’t as it seems.

What are some of your headcanons about Trinity Gate as a place of healing for Armand, Louis, Daniel, et al?

So I like this idea that Trinity Gate was initially set up as a place for Armand to deal with his shit at the same time as keeping Benji and Sybelle safe. It just happened that Louis had his Merrick-era meltdown and Lestat left not that long into it all happening, so Armand flew out and picked up Louis and it ended up becoming a place for all four of them to deal with some pretty big changes. Benji and Sybelle were newborn vampires, it’s a process that can be difficult especially for people prone to obsession like Sybelle is and Armand always prioritises safe spaces for loved ones first. 

As such, I think Trinity Gate has been a place for healing from design to current day. I think that when he found out about Daniel, he wanted to bring him there but didn’t want to make things worse for him so there has been a place for him for years. The same is true for Lestat, they were often worried about him and wanted him to come home, so there was always a place for him too.

In terms of specifics:

Louis spent most of the first time he was there in the libraries, but he branched out into the gardens as time went on. Armand invested in chairs for him to read in most of the communal rooms including the music room so he can listen to Sybelle play. There’s a lot of time spent without words when it comes to Louis, they understand each other well enough without it and as their romance blooms again, they start taking the steps forward together.

The garden has been Louis’ domain for a while; there is something about investing in helping something grow and the feeling of being part of the earth that helps ground him. I think he struggles with isolation when left to his own devices, so Armand begins dragging him out into the world before long and he begins to feel more like a person than someone who haunts the house. 

Armand for his part doesn’t think of himself as healing there, but he does – he finds his reasons to go on in his children, in falling in love again, and from there, begins to work backwards in dealing with his feelings about himself and his own autonomy. Trinity Gate and NY in general are his bubble in those years and he has the time to really settle down and consider himself, to confront things he hasn’t and admit things to himself that he has had trouble doing before. 

I think Armand finds himself thawing from a numbness he’s struggled with on and off since he was mortal in his little family era here. It makes him more comfortable when people begin to show up in Prince Lestat, it makes it easier for him to be open to what Gregory says and to know he doesn’t want to be the core. He’s learning about his own voice, his own autonomy and in some ways, this is something that he never gets to keep – the eras of Daniel and Louis are the closest, but he was catering more to their lives than his own, not ready to face it. His autonomy has been repeatedly lost ever since he was down in the caves, since the kidnapping, even to a degree in the erasure of his past identities both in Venice and under Santino and even though it was necessary, through Lestat. Getting time to be himself, feel his own emotions whether they’re good or bad, has been good for him. He’s learning.

Daniel at Trinity Gate is a case of learning to trust himself and his instincts. I think as much as he tried as a baby vampire, he struggled with being overwhelmed and this is the era where he starts to explore and really enjoy what it means to be an immortal. He floats from one thing to another, just trying to see what he wants and experience things as a vampire or experience things he has no history of like modern smart phones or VR. Armand helps him a lot with that and the humour of the role reversal isn’t lost on them. 

For Daniel, Trinity Gate is the place where he doesn’t so much fall in love again as feel ready to address it as a whole person when he’s been feeling fractured for so long. It’s a time for reunions – they go on dates, they’ll skip off to Miami or Tokyo for a week, they’ll spend nights curled up catching up on streamed television shows as Netflix becomes more of a thing. It’s an era of Daniel learning to feel comfortable in himself and his place, knowing he isn’t reliant on someone but instead is choosing to be there. I think that in my headcanon for their relationship, this is the turning point for it being a little more ot3 than otp because he and Louis come to their own understanding of their dynamic.

Lestat’s time at Trinity Gate is on and off, not unlike his relationship with Armand. He doesn’t know where he stands at Trinity Gate, he is The Prince, he is Louis’ maker and he and Armand have their on again/off again thing. I think the important part is when he stops looking at himself as his roles and starts figuring out how to just be who he is, not the roles he tries on like clothes and he gets scared to interact like that for any specific amount of time. It’s hard for him to shed that armour and not worry he’ll be abandoned or ridiculed – so he doesn’t really know what to do when he’s accepted into the Armand Bed Pile without question. Okay, maybe one question and it’s ‘can you get your hair out of my face’.

I think it helps him open himself up more - this makes their relationship less of a dalliance and more something they’re actively pursuing for both Armand and Louis. Daniel’s just along for the ride, it’s Lestat, but they do bond over the more difficult moments and build forts downstairs. They like to listen to music on shared headphones/pods and Lestat loves an audience that will listen to him ramble on and Daniel is a good, engaged listener. For Daniel’s part, Lestat’s happy to show him how to do a few more ‘tricks’ and help him gain confidence with what he has. Lestat had to figure his shit out alone, so having another chance to help someone else is good for him too – especially when it’s Armand’s only fledgling. It feels like coming full circle from Nicki.

On a similar vein, I think Antoine’s time here gives him a level of support he didn’t really get due to the circumstances in which he was made. He has a kindred spirit in Sybelle for music, and though he does follow Lestat to France, I think there had to be a small period of reconnection for them here. 

I want to believe Bianca stayed here for a while after losing her fledgling. Not right away, but perhaps a couple of years later when she’s trying to rebuild. I like to think at first, it was like having a sleepover, Bianca and Armand getting some time to reconnect with older parts of themselves, then Armand dragging her out to see the world she’s not familiar with. I want to believe Riccardo came along for the ride and for a couple of months, the three of them are thick as thieves. Playing games, running around in the world to bars and clubs and private establishments – it’s a time for them to reconnect as people.

It gives them all a chance to finally talk through their losses and experiences – Bianca leaving in Paris, Riccardo having been unable to corporealise but wanting to stay with him as much as he could but being unable to communicate and Armand talking about losing himself. They start their mourning process together, for their lives, for the boys, for what they lost along the way, but also learn to celebrate some that they’re here together. It makes all three a little more childish and silly, there’s multiple chases throughout the house and mucking around and it’s good for them to just feel young and free for a while. It’s a side Armand’s partners so rarely see of him and they love it, especially when Armand loses races down the stairs because Riccardo can teleport his way there by going incorporeal. (Armand insists it’s cheating, but his sulking just leads to more silly stories about his teenage years.)

There are others who come and go – Marius is there sometimes and not others, but he isn’t really ready to heal completely. He is learning more about flowers from Louis and spends more time around Daniel there than anyone else, but it’s a foot in the door when he’s ready. They have Pandora there for a bit when she needs time away, giving her the space she needs from the world while still keeping her in it until she’s ready to move on. Even Mael has crashed there, talking quietly about his experiences with going into the sun with Armand before retreating but seeming a little lighter for it. Jesse spends some of her grief there, talks about how the family that used to feel like it spanned the world feels like it’s dwindling and leaves feeling renewed by the way people make their own families in their world.

The tl;dr of this being that Trinity Gate is the Vampire Chronicles equivalent of going on a life changing adventure with Zuko.

Lestat & Louis, specifically. They're end game in every sense of the word. I happen to love the dynamic , the drama & the passion that comes with Louis & Lestat's relationship. Despite the fact that they are, in fact, both complete drama queens. I absolutely can not get enough of Lestart & Armand either -- as they are my second favorite dynamic for the prince's character, & to add a little bit of spice let's just throw in Daniel in there too. Maybe even a little bit of David & Rowan.

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE.

Age gaps are part of something that comes with being with a vampire. Obviously I will not tolerate Lestat shipping with a minor who is under 18 years. Physical or otherwise too. Ah ah ! Don't even mention the book canon because I don't want to hear it. I know, okay? EVERYBODY knows. As long as there is mutual respect, consent & everyone is comfortable, dive right in.

FAVOURITE PARTS OF THE IWTV SHOW SO FAR, IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER:

- "He ain't white, he French." (Oh, Louis, do I have news for you) - "I had planned to make a new life for myself in St. Louis. That was to be my destiny. And now I know I was right. But it turns out that the saint is not a city but a handsome man with a most agreeable disposition." *screams* - Lestat using his mind powers to help Louis, his crush and a black man, win a game of poker against a table of racist white bitches - Lestat, being his usual dumbass self, forgets to tell Louis that vampires are burnt by sunlight, so Louis decides to walk home in the daytime and proceeds to get burnt. The first thing he does is pour a bottle of milk all over himself and then he runs back to Lestat. Lestat bridal-carries him up the stairs and strips before getting in his coffin. "It's okay. You can be on top." - Louis crying and Lestat wiping away his tears with a handkerchief like that was so tender and gentle and sweet and I am sobbing - Cut back to the present day/framing device, right as Louis is contemplating biting his newborn nephew. "Anyway, I haven't killed anyone since Y2K." "Did you eat the baby?" "I don't kill people because - " "Did you eat the baby?" "I find alternatives to killing - " "DID YOU FUCKIN EAT THE BABY OR NOT LOUIS" - Louis ruining Daniel's dinner by unapologetically slurping a man's blood right in front of him. The man is staring Daniel down and telling him to go to Dubai's Kite Beach. This show is a comedy. - Louis says "fuck you" to Lestat and Lestat says "well fuck you too!" BUT IN FRENCH BECAUSE HE'S A FRENCH BITCH - Louis literally dying and having a mental breakdown and Lestat's just shoving a dead priest in a random crypt and telling Louis "omg mon cher you're so cute <3" - LOUIS INITIATING THE KISSES because Lestat is the bottom in this relationship you can't convince me otherwise - Louis's gay panic is so bad he doesn't even question that Lestat bit him (hey fellas is it gay to drink each other's blood?) - Lestat telling Louis that he is a "library of confusion" - Lestat saying he can tell Louis is skipping meals and being a supportive bf like "please take care of yourself babe" <3 - Anyway I'm sure there's more and there will be more when the later episodes come out but like there are definitely things I don't like about this show but the things I do like about it far outweigh them I am so enjoying watching this

The Doppelganger idea from Vampire Diaries would make so much mess between Viktor, Lestat, and Louis. Elena-Viktor and Kathrine-Lestat fighting over their claim on Stefan-Louis, Lestat getting blamed for setting the precedent with Nicki #396, Damon-Santh/Armand/Daniel enjoying the drama from the side, Marius supporting Vik/Louis because 'father-son-holy spirit' love triangle exists in his coven as well, Viktor proclaiming that Lestat might be his first but he "intend to be his last".

Oh my goodness, doppelgängers in VC would be INSANE! Especially if Viktor is a doppelgänger of Lestat and not technically his clone. Tho your ask has me wanting fem!Lestat and fem!Viktor fighting over fem!Louis. Lestat would probably win a lot of fights in a Lestat vs Viktor verse, but I think people would gravitate towards Viktor more because he's not so intense which would drive Lestat crazy! It's like how Katherine is so insane so of course Damon and Stefan prefer Elena because she's just way more chill. Damon is def Armand in this parallel, causing trouble but in the end getting the girl (Elena or Viktor in this very weird but perfect case).

I am such a Klaroline shipper it's not even funny. I did kind of like Steroline back in season 2 of TVD, but by the time they got married I hated them together. At first I thought you meant a Viktor/Lestat ship which I'm not against. I have a google doc for that clonecest ship that I will write one day. As well as a Rose/Lestat fic I need to finish to round out Lioncourt incest of course.

Viktor/Louis has some outstanding potential, but I don't think I can write it myself. So I shall leave these ideas for the wind to take and for the inspiration to hit someone else. I look forward to reading further Viktor/Louis for sure.

I have written this chapter of Love Bites for @wicked-felina who wanted a Modern AU or Coffee Shop AU. Unfortunately, I do not post VC Fanart online. So, it will have to be a fan fiction story. I can say I am honored to write for her as I love her and @i-want-my-iwtv’s Signature Blend. This story will be a work in progress. I hope to add to it throughout the year, but only if there is interest in continuing this AU. I apologize that you are only getting one chapter as a gift, but I do not know where this will take me, yet. This chapter is for her VC Christmas gift and it is also dedicated to her.

I did not want to try and duplicate her fabulous work and add to it because coffee is not my forte. I also know I could not do that AU as exquisitely as they have, and anything less would be a shame. So, I took a different tact and came up with a wacky mismatched Modern AU which is vastly divergent from some canon. This is written in the spirit of switching it up. It is crack!fanon. I have chosen to keep certain aspects of canon for this story (so do not worry). I hope you enjoy it @wicked-felina.

This information is not necessarily important to this chapter but will be later.

Background: Louis’ brother died when he was a Senior in High School. He loved his brother, but they had never seen eye to eye because of his brother’s love of the Catholic Church. Paul, his brother, was on the path to join the Priesthood when he graduated from their Catholic School. Louis hated his brother’s choices which caused conflict as Louis was hurt at a young age by the same church that his brother endorsed and loved. Another bone of contention between them was Louis is gay. The night he finally came out his brother and mother did not accept this lifestyle choice. They had a horrible argument. Louis wished Paul dead. His mother overheard the argument. Shortly after his brother was hit by a drunk driver as he was on his way to pray for his brother’s soul. Louis has not been the same since. His mother has disowned him. He has not been disinherited because his fathers will does not allow it. He is set to take over the family business when he finishes college. To that end Louis keeps changing majors to avoid graduating.

Things you need to know about this AU and it’s cast of characters:

 Louis is a wealthy student who is drifting from one major to another due to his chronic indecisiveness and rebellion of not wanting to take over the family business that his father left him. He is not an alcoholic, but he is a binge drinker.

Armand is Louis’ ex-boyfriend who is on again and off again. They go from friend to lover randomly because they are convenient to each other. They have similar interests and habits. They love each other but are not in love. They have an understanding.

Daniel is Louis’ roommate and drinking buddy. He has been Louis’ best friend since elementary school. He is secretly in love with Armand but has never told anyone. Louis does not realize it.

Lestat is a music major with a minor in drama. He has the determination of hitting it big in Paris then the world. His family is from old money which his father squandered. His mother has been slowly selling off her large Jewelry collection from her family. She uses it to fund their family and to keep up appearances. In this AU Lestat has only his older brother Augustin.

Nicolas is in pre-law but takes violin on the side. The violin has been his passion since he was in his Middle School Orchestra, but his family does not approve of it as a profession. He is expected to join the family law firm.

Nicolas and Lestat have a convenient relationship. They go from being lovers to hating one another it is all dependent on their moods. They have been this way since childhood. They have always dreamed of going to Paris to make it big. 

David is a foreign exchange student from Great Briton who is older because he is in his late 20’s. David is doing graduate work. He studies the occult. He has become Lestat’s best friend and roommate.

Other vampires will appear in the series as well.

Chapter One

Dating Blindly

Louis is sipping a glass of wine at a karaoke dive bar waiting for his blind date to arrive. There is a red rose sitting in front of him at the table he had chosen. He has been texting back and forth with Armand who set him up on what he was sure to be a fiasco of a blind date. Everyone knew blind dates never went well. Why would this one be any different, he thought.

[Text Ginger Snap] You will text me in an hour to give me an out if I do not like him, right?

[Text Ginger Snap] You owe me for this if I knew it was a Karaoke Bar you would not have gotten me here.

[Text Envy] Yes, I know now relax. Have fun. You don’t get out enough.

[Text Envy] He is good looking and moody like you. You should get along well together. Give it a chance.

[Text Ginger Snap] So you say. Blind dates never work. I am not really that hard up.

[Text Envy] You have not been out since we started seeing other people. Have a good time.

“Louis?” Louis looked up from him phone seeing a man who was handsome looking at him holding a red rose. He had chocolatey brown brooding eyes. Louis was attracted to him somewhat. Armand did have good taste he thought to himself.

“Yes?” Louis answered slipping his phone in his back pocket. “You must be Nicolas.” He stood up and offered his hand.

“I am.” He said shaking it and giving it a warm squeeze. “May I join you?”

Louis nodded, “Yes, please have a seat.” He sat down motioning Nicolas to do the same.

“Thank you.” Nicolas said picking up the menu. “Well, how did you end up here tonight? You do not look like the type who needs a blind date.”

Louis frowned at the blunt question as he gazed at the drink menu, “I do not know, really. Armand kept threatening to set me up if I did not get out of my apartment to meet someone. He convinced me to come out tonight. How did you end up here?”

Nicolas grinned replying with bluntness that was charming in which he had perfected over the years, “Ahh, he told me that his ex-boyfriend needed a date. He said he was beautiful, and I should meet him. Plus, I have seen you both together and I was curious about you.”

Louis rolled his eyes into the menu, “How do you know one another?”

Nicolas smirked, “A question for a question?” Louis nodded his ascent. “I met him during orchestra practice a couple years ago. He was directing a musical and I was in the orchestra for that musical. We hit it off you could say.”

The server came as Louis was about to comment. They ordered a bottle of wine and an appetizer.

“So, you have a lot in common. Why did you two never date?” He asked as the server left to see to their order.

“Who says that we have not dated?” Nicolas replied. “Besides that, is two questions you owe me. I think I will keep them in reserve for now.”

Lestat asked as the server, Bianca, came in the kitchen, “Well, did you get a good look at him?”

Bianca laughed, “Yes, Lestat I did. It was no hardship to switch tables with you. My god they are both easy on the eyes. Why did you let him go?”

“Is he better looking than me?”

“One of them is, Lestat. Which one is Nicolas?”

Lestat looked out the corner, “The one who had the rose. You know this I told you.”

“They both had roses, Lestat.”

Lestat sighed impatiently, “Nicki has eyes dark like milk chocolate.”

“Oh well you should see his date’s eyes. They are to die for.”

Lestat said, “Really? I have to see him.” Lestat grabbed the drinks for the table near theirs and went to see for himself.

Bianca laughed shaking her head.

As Lestat delivered the drinks to the table he had to lean forward to get a good look at Nicolas’ date. In that moment a lady put her purse down causing Lestat to trip and the beers crashed to the floor. Luckily Lestat did not. He cursed as he saw Nicki and Louis turn their heads and look at him. In that brief moment he had seen the most beautiful emerald eyes and face. He looked away and got up.

“Shit, shit, shit.” He cursed under his breath picking up the broken glass and apologizing. He quickly got the pieces up and everything sorted out. He went back to the bar. Bianca was still laughing she had seen it all.

“Lestat, are you okay?” She asked once she finished laughing.

“Yes, you are right he is beautiful, and Nicki saw me they both probably think I am an idiot.”

“Accidents happen. I am sure they realize that.”

Lestat nodded and reordered the beers for the customers.

Bianca gathered the wine and went to deliver it to the table.

“Here you go gentleman,” she said putting down wineglasses. She then poured the wine for them. She set it down. “Your appetizer should be ready soon. Would you like to order anything else?”

Louis shook his head, “Not right now, thank you.”

Nicolas agreed, “I will be right back. Excuse me a moment please?”

Louis said, “of course,” to Nicolas as Bianca left back to her station. He picked up his glass and took a drink. Listening to a couple patrons sing off key.

Nicolas caught Lestat by the arm as Lestat was walking back from delivering the beer, successfully this time. “What are you doing? Are you stalking me again? I told you this was over. For good this time, remember?”

Lestat pulled away, “No I am not stalking you! Some of us must work for a living. I have worked here all week! I have no desire to ever go back to you again.” He turned his back on him and stalked off into the kitchen. “Bastard.”

Nicolas went back to the table and sat down. He picked up the wine and downed it.

“Everything okay?”

Putting the glass down, “More wine?”

Louis nodded, “Yes please.” He watched as Nicolas poured him a glass.

“Louis, I hate to do this, but I need to go. I will be in touch with you. I would like to get to know you, but I just got some bad news.”

Louis nodded relieved, “Yes, I understand.”

“You owe me two more answers. I intend to collect. Please accept my apology.” He grabbed his wallet and put a $50 on the table. “Please stay and have another drink on me.” He got up and left angry.

Louis was confused because he saw the exchange between the two. He was sure everyone had seen it. He shrugged thinking at least he was not the one making excuses this time. It was best to let that one go, if he got angry over a clumsy waiter, he thought to himself.

He picked up his glass and sipped his wine.

Lestat calmed himself down and grabbed the appetizers for their table. He would get even with Nicki, he thought. He spit in the spinach artichoke dip when no one was looking. He took the spinach artichoke dip to the table, but Nicki was not there. He looked at the food, then into the eyes of the most beautiful man he had ever seen. He dropped the appetizer it fell to the floor. He froze. “I…”

Bianca came up, “Sorry he is having a bad day. I will get you a new one.” She cleaned it up as best as she could. She pinched Lestat’s side before she left whispering, “Snap out of it.”

“Thanks.” Louis said and smiled at Lestat. “We all have bad days. Don’t feel bad. I am sorry about whatever my date said to you. Please I am sure he did not mean it.”

“Thank you.” Lestat said flashing his trademark smile.

Louis nodded. His phone rang. He picked up his phone noticing it was Armand. “Yes, Armand I actually did not need you to call Nicolas left.” He forgot about Lestat as he told Armand what had happened.

Lestat went back to the bar humming to himself.

“Lestat get it together or you will get into trouble.” Bianca said annoyed. “That was not even your table.”

“Sorry, but I have to have him.”

“Do you really think that is a good idea?”

“Yes, I do.” He looked at his watch. “Time for my break.”

Lestat strolled out to the stage as he saw no one was currently singing. He went up to the machine and selected his song. Lestat had a weakness for 80’s hair bands and ballads. He had most of the songs from that time memorized. He smiled seeing just the right song Love Bites, by Def Leppard. Perfect, he thought. He knew this song very well. He knew he could sing it like he had written it himself. He was here to show Louis that he was not some halfwit clumsy server.

He strutted onto the stage picked up the mic and began to sing it as if he owned it. He crooned into the microphone. Louis was watching him interested he could tell. He smiled at him. Then turn his back shaking his behind a bit. Lestat felt his pulse race as he showed off. He turned back around and moved like the rock star he knew he would be. He finished the song and ended it by winking at Louis. He saw him blush. Lestat smirked. Got him hooked, he thought. Lestat was satisfied with his performance for Louis. Now to reel him in, he thought to himself.

When he got off the stage the manager was waiting for him. They had words. After all that was said and done tonight Lestat still had a job. Only because he had persuaded him that he could pick up an extra shift. By the time he could make it to Louis’ table, he was gone. Lestat sighed and shook his head thinking, “I just can’t win.”

Louis was half drunk when he left the club. He had finished off the wine and declined the appetizer that Bianca had brought back out to him. He did pay for it and left her a generous tip. As he took an uber home he had decided to bring Armand back to that club. That blond waiter may not know how to be a decent server, but he did look and sing like an angel. Louis smiled. Yes, he would go back. He was intrigued. He closed his eyes as the driver drove him home.

Basics

What name does your character go by? Any nicknames? Just Everard, His Twitter handle is happy_ever_ard and certainly there are nicknames being used with and without his knowledge. He mingles in a lot of scenes and stands out.

What does your character study?: He followed some of his brothers and Rhoshamandes into Business School. He had to redo a year and he recently dropped out all together.

Where does your character live? Roommates? Off campus or on campus?: He has his own, small apartment in town, but just about close enough to walk to school, but he usually just took an Uber.

Campus Life

Do they function well in a campus setting?: He does. He’s the love-or-hate-him kind of guy with no grey area, so either people invite him to every party or they make fun of him behind his back. He does not have many real friends apart from Rhosh and does not care much for it either, because even without friends he still gets to be pretty much involved in everything he wants.

What are their favorite subjects?: Mostly extracurricular stuff. He loves to join debates and argue for the sake of riling people up. Playing devil’s advocate is his favourite pass time during these gatherings.

Do they work on the side?: No, his family makes enough money to pay for everything.

How do they get on with their professors/other students?: Again, love or hate him. Some teachers can be swayed by his persuasive, outgoing nature and comedic streak, others don’t take that shit and can’t stand him. The same goes for the students.

Do they have extracurricular activities they participate in?: Yes, as described before, he enjoys the Debate Associations and keeping up to date with what’s going on in the world. 

Are they doing well or failing?: He always teetered on the brink of failing. It’s the reason he had to redo that first year and is giving up on it all together now. The business path was the only logical way to go for him, as he is expected from home to be successful like the rest of the family, but Everard is not business material. He just does not realise that his expertise lies in Entertainment. ‘Entertainment doesn’t make money’. Not being interested, combined with his lifestyle and his emotional issues at the moment, made it quite impossible for him to keep up. 

How do they handle the pressure of their education load?: Not at all. Yes, he parties a lot and does not sleep nearly enough and often skipped classes, so a part of it all is his own fault, but he also has major concentration issues and the lack of interest in the subjects can get overwhelming, making him procrastinate. He really needs Rhoshamandes’ help on focusing long enough to finish his assignments, but now Rhosh is off the radar, he just can not keep up anymore.

Relationships

Who did your character date or have a crush on?: Everard never actively dated. He does hook up quite a lot over the weekends, but they never were or never are relationship material. In all honesty, I think he’s not relationship material either.

Who does your character date or have a crush on?: He only recently realised he’s in love with Rhoshamandes, who is now unavailable, even for the friends-with-benefits part of their friendship and he’s handling it veeeery badly.

Who are your character’s friends?: I think he only considers Rhoshamandes a real friend, but he gets along very well with Daniel. He’s also been on and off good grounds with Bianca and recently he’s been warming up a bit to Armand. Who’d have thought.

Who does your character not get along with?: Lestat. They are club rivals. Don’t steal my shine, bitch. I also don’t think he’d get along with farm boy Mael and he’s had some obligatory issues with Professor No-Bullshit-Talbot.
