Places Adore and Bianca Were Nearly Caught Having Sex (3/?) (Biadore) - Miss Alyssa Secret
Anon request from AQ - Roy goes into a lingerie store to buy thongs for Danny. Bonus he grabs a whip while at the counter for good measure.
All of the above with a Miss Alyssa twist ;)
A/N: Recognize the title? Anon, I finished writing this before seeing your airport request. Next time! -MAS
******** Victor’s Secret
The mall should be used as a torture device, Roy decided. The gaggles of teenagers (all genders, sexualities, and sizes) on their phones and generally causing mayhem were bad enough. Add to it people with what felt like dozens of misbehaving kids, and even his patience gave out.
It was incredibly tempting to go shop as Bianca if only to be able to yell, “Get the fuck outta the way!”. On second and third thought, getting into drag on a day off wasn’t terribly appealing, and if he did that there was no way he’d be able to get any actual shopping done at all.
Also? He wasn’t particularly interested in the legions of Drag Race fans knowing which socks he bought.
He kept a polite smile plastered on his face as he was jostled by the crowd, intent on getting out of there as fast as possible. There was gridlock on one of the pedestrian bridges, and he rolled his eyes. Roy was just about to attempt a detour when a very pink advertisement caught his eye.
Pivoting, he made his way into the store. His senses were immediately assaulted by the cloying smell of multiple perfumes in a small space and the music turned up to painful levels. He forged onwards, past the racks of overpriced negligees and robes. The corsets received a snort of professional disdain - the showy D-rings and ribbons would never hold up to actual wear, and most women he knew weren’t proportioned like anime characters.
At last, he reached a quieter area, ignoring the side eye he was getting from the teenage girls. Danny had an amazing ass, one he happily showcased with his collection of underwear. Roy considered and discarded the notion that he would consider receiving women’s lingerie an insult. His sometimes lover was secure enough in his self and sexuality that he’d probably be intrigued if presented with a bundle of lace and bows.
With that in mind, he surveyed the table whose sign proclaimed “6 for $32!”. He bought Bianca’s black panties online to avoid the hassle, and idly wondered if he ought to pick her up a couple of pairs.
The lacy boy shorts had some promise, as did the cheeky panties. Roy waited until a young couple moved out of the way (with the level of disinterest from the guy, he hoped she moved on to better prospects), and crouched to dig through the drawers of thongs. There were animal prints that Danny would likely love, and silky ones with tiny gold hearts. He held up a pair, trying to determine if it was the right size. Unfortunately, even the XLs probably didn’t have enough fabric left to contain a dick and balls, and he sighed in disappointment.
”Is there anything I can help you with, sir?”
Roy turned to find a black-clad twenty-something smiling cheerfully down at him.
“Oh, those are really cute!” She nodded at the panties he already held.
“Uhhh, thanks,” he muttered, thanking small mercies that she wasn’t a Drag Race fan.
”I’m sure she’ll love them,” she continued. “Any occasion you’re shopping for?”
If only she knew.
”Well, ummm, I just wanted to see if…”
Roy cringed internally, hoping he didn’t sound like a creepy straight guy.
”That’s totally fine. We have guys in here all the time shopping for their girlfriends.” She handed him a basket with a wink.
Telling her, “I’m trying to see if the thong would fit my drag queen unlabeled-but-important-relationship-person/lover,” probably wasn’t going to get her to go away any faster than lying.
“Errr, thank you. I think I’m just going to look at a few more…”
”Of course. My name’s Tina if you need any help.”
He breathed out a hefty sigh of relief, waited until she was busy with another customer, and put all of the panties he was holding back before making his escape.
********
As predicted, Danny was vastly amused when he described his adventure into Victoria’s Secret. He’d accompanied a few female friends in the past, but going solo was something else.
”You know,” Danny grinned and wiped a stray bit of cum off Roy’s lower lip, “I wouldn’t say no to going underwear shopping together.”
His attempt to answer was lost as Danny tugged him to his feet, pushed him onto the bed, and climbed on top. Roy forgot exactly what he’d been trying to say when a clever hand closed around his cock and started jerking him off with perfectly timed strokes.
There was something to be said about fucking your best friend, he mused as they laid together while the sweat cooled.
********
Roy thought he could be forgiven for not remembering their conversation a couple of weeks later. When he mentioned going to the toy store for more lube and condoms, Danny’s eyes lit up.
“Oh! Hey, what about going to one that sells underwear?”
”Underwear?”
”Yeah, you could help me pick some out.”
He concentrated on not spitting wine onto the couch, taking in Danny’s enthusiastic expression and his own arousal at the thought.
”Fine, but if I’m paying I get to decide if they’re worth it.”
The wineglass was removed from his hand, and he suddenly had a lapful of Danny.
”Cool. Can I suck your dick before we go?”
********
He had long since stopped being embarrassed or self-conscious about shopping for intimate items, but Danny brought an entirely new dimension to it. Whereas alone or with other friends it was a humorous and fun process, the filthy things Danny was whispering in his ear were making it increasingly difficult to conceal his growing erection.
They were standing in front of the wall of lube, and had been for the last several minutes while Danny described in graphic detail what they could do with each.
”…and then I’ll make you lick my ass, and-“
Roy squeezed his thighs together in a vain attempt to quell the throbbing in his balls.
”Angel,” he muttered through gritted teeth, “pick one and let’s go before I drag you into the fitting room and fuck you.”
In hindsight, he should have realized that it was the exact opposite of a threat, but he blamed it on most of the blood in his brain rapidly heading south.
“Okay!” Danny chirped happily, dropping three different bottles into the basket and pulling Roy by the hand towards the lingerie.
By the time they’d agreed on a half dozen thongs and jockstraps (“Do you ever think we’re a little too stereotypically gay?” “Fuck all the way off.”), Roy had managed to get his raging hard on mostly under control. He wasn’t paying enough attention, however, to realize that Danny wasn’t heading towards the register until a bored staff member reminded them that all lingerie must be tried on over existing undergarments.
He opened his mouth to protest, but Danny was already pulling him into one of the fitting rooms and sliding the curtain shut, pushing Roy down onto the single chair inside.
”Why are you trying them on? We could just head home and-“
Roy’s mouth fell open as Danny dropped his pants to reveal the skimpiest thong he’d ever seen before.
“You said you wanted to make sure you liked them before you paid,” he grinned wickedly, tongue peeking out from between his teeth.
Danny stepped into one of the jockstraps, pulling the bright purple elastic into place over his hips. He made a show of adjusting his package cupped by the fabric in front, then turned around and shook his ass.
He gave Roy an expectant look, eyes narrowing at the crossed arms and weak glare.
”Gonna tell me what you think?”
”Angel, if you don’t hurry up I’m going to get us kicked out of here for public indecency.”
He crossed his legs as well, refusing to give Danny the satisfaction of watching him nudge the renewed erection into a more comfortable position in his pants.
Instead of arguing, Danny surprised him by poking his head out past the curtain.
”Excuse me?” He was using his Adore voice, slightly breathy and flirty. Roy shifted the basket onto his lap as the tattooed clerk approached, shaking her neon dyed hair and generally giving the air of can’t be bothered.
”Yeah?” She sounded even less interested than she looked, which was impressive.
”I need an opinion and my friend is being dumb,” Danny shot a glance at Roy who gave them a tight smile. “Does this make my ass look good?”
The young woman took one look at Roy, taking in the way he was sitting and his expression of long-suffering frustration, and abruptly broke into a fit of giggles.
”Oh I bet he’s dumb right now. Yeah,” she snapped her gum and gave Danny’s ass a quick once-over, “I’d say you should buy those.”
”Thank you.” Danny was laying it on even thicker, and she shook her head before walking away still laughing.
”Hmmm…”
Danny prowled across the small space, pushing the basket aside to straddle his lap and rubbing the substantial bulge against Roy’s chest. The tip of his cock stretched the fabric upwards, nudging his chin, and Roy closed his eyes for a moment. He could smell Danny’s arousal, and it was rapidly degrading his sense of control.
Giving in, he met Danny’s challenging state before slipping one hand inside both layers of fabric and tugging out his half-hard cock. Still watching, he leaned forward and closed his lips around the head, giving it a few good sucks before letting it pop free.
”Fuck…”
Roy licked up the underside with teasing flicks of his tongue before dipping into the slit.
”…yeah…”
”You two still doing okay in there?”
They both froze as the clerk’s voice came from the other side of the curtain.
“Uhh, yeah, thanks!” Roy hoped he didn’t sound too panicked.
”Shit,” Danny muttered as her footsteps receded.
”Come on.” Roy pushed him back gently and stood, grabbing the basket. “Get dressed and lets get out of here.”
”Don’t you want to see the rest of them?”
He tossed the jockstrap in with the rest, and Roy stopped to stare at the thong stretched tight over Danny’s erection.
”I’m buying them all.”
At the register, the clerk gave them both a knowing and far too amused look before ringing them up. Danny squirmed against Roy’s side as he eyed the display of riding crops.
“No.”
”B…”
Accepting his card back, Roy shoved the bag into Danny’s hands and smiled at the clerk. She bid them a cheerful day, and turned to help someone else.
”If you behave,” Roy hissed into Danny’s ear, “I already have one at home.”
Danny practically dragged them out of the store.
”Party!”

10 Best Automatic Pool Cleaners - Prime Reviews 2019
What are the best automatic pool cleaners on the market today? What are the best automatic pool cleaners for inground pools, above ground pools, concrete pools and vinyl? Which pool cleaners are work for diving pools, and which models are ideal for the home owner who wants to minimize the work load?
Top Automatic Pool Cleaners For In Ground Pools
We’ll look at the best automatic pool cleaners, giving the pros and cons of each and identify the right users for the model.
Dolphin Nautilus Robotic Pool Cleaner, Model 99996323
The Dolphin Nautilus 99996323 robotic pool cleaner has a long, sixty foot cord that lets it reach the far points of many pools larger than the standard 20’x40’ in ground pool. Its small compact design lets it clean both the walls and floor of the pool, even getting the coves that some other pool cleaners miss. It sometimes has issues with curved walls and steps. It is lightweight, easy to pull out of the pool for replacing tire treads and cleaning out the filter.
One of the minor drawbacks is the fact that the tires can leave black marks on the bottom of the pool, when the housing rubs against the pool walls. Finding replacement motors and gears can be a challenge. If your local pool supply dealer can’t get parts, you have to pay fifty dollars or more to ship the unit back.
This automatic pool cleaner is one of the best choices for those with unusually shaped pools and larger pools that can be reached with the cord, especially those that don’t want to have to rely on water pressure to propel the pool cleaner.
Baracuda G3 W03000 Advanced Suction Side Cleaner
The Baracuda G3 W03000 pool vacuum is designed to clean the sides of your pool. It works its way around steps, ladders, corners and other surfaces with ease on its own. It will remove the dirt collecting on the sides of the pools and leaves stuck there. It can adjust its performance to suit the water flow, so it can work with low power water pumps.
The Baracuda G3 W03000’s filter is straightforward to access and easy to clean. It can double as a pool skimmer but doesn’t do as well as dedicated skimmers getting leaves and floating debris. One benefit of this model is the fact that it won’t scuff the pool the way some four wheel drive pool cleaners will.
This is a good choice for those with deep pools or a lot of pool walls, steps and so forth that many bottom cleaners just can’t get. It is a fair accompaniment to an existing skimmer that can’t do the pool walls, as long as they don’t have to rely on the same water lines to run. One of the benefits of this model is that it can connect to a dedicated suction line or even the skimmer you already have in the pool.
Polaris Vac-Sweep 280 Pressure Side Pool Cleaner
The Polaris Vac-Sweep 280 works in any in ground pool, cleaning everything from the floor to the walls to the steps.
The high price tag is offset by the need to buy a Polaris booster pump, if the pool does not already have one. The cost is not bad when you realize it comes with thirty feet of feed hose, something some other pool cleaners make you buy.
If the hose breaks or other parts wear out, repairs are expensive. The filter gets the fine particles well, but this can cause the small screen in the line to get clogged, so that needs to be cleaned along with the filter bag every so often.
The filter bag of the Polaris Vac-Sweep 280 captures the fine dirt along with leaves, twigs, seeds and other debris that some other pool cleaners miss. This is the best pool cleaner for those who have a problem with dirt or finely chopped leaves filling the pool.
This is one of the few pool sweepers on the market available in black, making it the best choice for those with dark bottom pool that don’t want a pool cleaner that literally stands out like a sore thumb.
Hayward TigerShark Swimming Pool Robotic Cleaner, Model QC RC9990GR
This model has a long 55 foot cord that lets it get the bottom of 20’ by 40’ pools with a diving end. It can make its way up inclines, steps and walls. One of the strengths of the Hayward TigerShark pool cleaner, model QC RC9990GR, is the easy to clean filter. You pop it out and rinse it off with a garden hose. It gets almost everything except algae.
Like a programmable robot vacuum, it can map out the bottom of the pool and try to design a more efficient route. This can result in a faster pool cleaning process, assuming it doesn’t decide to miss a spot. Yet you can save energy when it finds a faster, better way to clean the pool. And this electric pool cleaner won’t sap energy from the pool pump or require the addition of a booster pump. It is almost plug and play, assuming you have the strength to move the forty pound pool cleaner to the pool.
One of the cons of the Hayward TigerShark QC RC9990GR is the price. You will find the price similar to some of the more expensive pool cleaners on this list.
This pool cleaner has a lot of steel screws prone to rusting in a salt water pool, making maintenance a hassle. This pool cleaner is best for fresh water / chlorinated pools. If you want a thorough cleaning of a traditional pool without relying on water flow to run, and you can afford this model, it is a great choice.
The Poolcleaner 896584000020 4X Suction Pool Cleaner for Concrete Pools
This pool cleaner is one of the most affordable ones on the list.
The Poolcleaner brand pool cleaner (now owned by Hayward) works on pools that don’t have a dedicated suction line. There’s no need to install a booster pump to get it to work.
This model has four wheel drive, allowing it to handle nearly all types of pool shapes. If you have a very large pool, it may need extra hoses. It handles minor obstacles well like grooves to improve traction in the shallow end of the pool but may get stuck on a raised safety drain.
The four wheel drive model is better than the two wheel drive for larger or deeper pools.
You have to be careful of the RPM settings if you want it to climb the walls. If it climbs the walls, it may not come down correctly on the wheels and resume cleaning the pool. Be careful of the tires on it, because the tires it is shipped with don’t work well in vinyl pools, only concrete ones. Vinyl pool wheels cost around forty dollars.
Pentair Model GW7900 Automatic Pool Cleaner
The Pentair model GW7900 pool cleaner gets points for price; depending on where you get it.
It is designed for in ground swimming pools. It follows a specific pattern, so it avoids the random dirty spots of some other pool cleaners. It operates in concrete, vinyl, gunite and fiberglass pools.
At thirteen inches square, it can fit in and around obstacles like modern safety drains. It gets mid-sized debris, having trouble with large oak leaves and fine dirt, though it picks up small leaves, twigs and dead bugs with no problems. Rocks in the pool cause it to get confused. Suction depends on the filter, so regularly cleaning the filter is necessary to keep it capable of picking anything up. However, it is one of the few pool cleaners that does a good job scrubbing off and collecting algae.
One benefit of the Pentair design is that it doesn’t need wheels replaced periodically. In fact, this pool cleaner is very low maintenance except for cleaning the filter regularly.
Hayward RC9740 SharkVac Robotic Pool Cleaner
The Hayward model RC9740 SharkVac pool cleaner is middle of the pack on price. You can get this pool cleaner with or without a caddy. Buying the larger “XL” size means it gets the job done faster, but that adds another hundred and hundred and fifty dollars to the purchase price.
This pool cleaner does a good job with small and fine debris like dirt and pulverized leaves. It doesn’t do as well with large leaves. Its greatest weakness is the risk of much of the debris it was sucking up landing back in the pool when you try to take it out to get it out of the water so you can change the filter.
This pool cleaner doesn’t climb pool walls. Either scrub the walls yourself, hire help to do that once in a while or buy a secondary pool cleaner just for the pool walls. It typically misses pool steps. If the pool has a steep drop off for the deep end, it will migrate to the deep end and fail to get back to the shallow end.
This is a decent pool cleaner if you don’t have a tree shedding leaves directly into the pool. It is an affordable option if you are careful pulling it out of the water and have a pool with a basic slope, no drop-offs nor a lot of steps.
Zodiac Model F5B Polaris Vac-Sweep 280 Black Max Pressure Side Pool Cleaner
This pool cleaner is at the low cost end of the spectrum. It does require a Polaris booster pump. If you need a booster pump, that will, of course, increase the cost. It comes with thirty feet of hose, eliminating that cost unless you have a large pool and need even more hose length. Fortunately, this model’s hose rarely tangles.
It works in any in ground pool, vinyl, gunite, fiberglass or concrete. One of the strengths of this pool sweeper is how well it cleans the sides of the pool. It does clean the bottom of the pool, too.
One minor annoyance with this model is the occasional water jets this pool cleaner can spurt out.
This is an affordable, durable and reliable pool cleaner, sufficient to do the job unless you have a lot of fine debris or lack a booster pump.
Polaris Model F9450 Sport Robotic In-Ground Robotic Pool Cleaner
This vacuum cleaner is powerful, getting almost all debris of any size. It has a large canister, so it doesn’t need to be cleaned very often unless your pool gets a lot of debris like a molting tree leaning over it. The filter is easy to remove and empty, then rinse it out and replace.
The Polaris model F9450 pool cleaner can cover pools up to fifty feet long. The power cord rarely tangles, and because of the cord, it doesn’t rely on a booster pump or water pressure to operate. It does an excellent job cleaning the bottom of a pool. Some pool designs cause it to flip when it tries to climb the walls; you can turn off that mode if necessary. If it has no problems climbing the sides of your pool, you’ll love the brushes that scrub off dirt and even algae.
You can program the cleaning cycle so it can be set up to only run late at night or early in the morning.
This pool cleaner is towards the expensive end of the price spectrum. However, you get both a caddy and high quality filter with the unit.
Pentair Model 360032 Kreepy Krauly Prowler 830 Robotic Inground Pool Cleaner
This pool cleaner is heavy, 45 pounds, but it is heavy duty. It has a 19” by 19” footprint, so it cleans large pools surprisingly fast. It scrubs, vacuums and filters the water, scrubbing debris like dirt off the floor and bottom of the pool while removing almost all of the debris from the water. The filter is easy to access and clean, a necessity given how often it needs to be cleaned.
You can schedule cleanings so that it doesn’t run while kids are in the pool, and you can control it like a modern Roomba, directing it return to particular spots or get spots it missed. It is smart enough to reverse itself if it gets caught on a modern safety drain. It typically misses steps.
This pool cleaner comes with both deluxe features and a premium price. The pool cleaner comes with a caddy and extra filter.
Finding someone to service this model can be challenging. While it has the Pentair label, service is done by Dolphin. They prefer to repair things instead of replacing defective models, a serious negative if you get a defective unit.
The unit itself is easy to set up and put in the pool. Assembly of the caddy takes more time than setting up the pool cleaner itself; simply get the brushes wet before you ease the pool cleaner into the water. There’s no need to mess with water hoses and pressure pumps. The unit is relatively quiet.
This is one of the best automatic pool cleaners if you want to ensure that the pool is as spotless as your living room floor.

Looking for winter gloves that keep your hands warm and dry and are made with quality to last for years? As a professional gear reviewer who gets cold hands easily and spends many days outside in winter, from skiing in all of its forms to bike commuting, trail running, and working outside, I’ve used many types of gloves. I’ve learned a lot over the years about how to select gloves and which models perform best for specific uses. This review covers the best gloves I’ve found for winter, in several styles and degrees of warmth, for outdoor recreation as well as doing any kind of work outside. I’m confident you’ll find a pair here that meet your needs.
I tested the gloves reviewed below in a wide range of temperatures from the high 30s Fahrenheit to below-zero wind chills, and in snowstorms, cold rain, graupel, and most other forms of frozen water that fall from the sky, as well as the liquid kind. I used these gloves on numerous days of backcountry skiing, skate skiing, ski touring, and resort skiing, on multi-day, backcountry yurt trips, and spring mountaineering in the mountains of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and California.
I’ve also, of course, used many of these gloves shoveling snow and doing outdoor chores in winter, and biking around town in cold temps.
Scroll down past the tips on how to choose gloves if you want to jump directly into the product reviews.
Besides coming in a range of prices and styles, the gloves reviewed below have different strengths and weaknesses, making each better for varying activities and circumstances, which I specify in each review. I’d love to see your observations about any of these glove models, or others you like; please make them in the comments section at the bottom of this review.

I’ve divided the reviews below into two categories:
1.    Under-the-cuff gloves, which have shorter, closer-fitting gauntlets designed to be worn under a jacket cuff. They vary in degree of warmth and dexterity, but (with just a couple of exceptions among those reviewed here) are usually less warm and expensive and more dexterous than over-the-cuff gloves. They are typically used for high-intensity activities like classic Nordic or skate skiing on groomed trails, but depending on your needs and typical temperatures encountered, can be used for winter hiking, climbing, ski touring, and snowshoeing in “moderate” winter temperatures from the 20s to 30s Fahrenheit.
2.    Over-the-cuff gloves, which have longer, adjustable gauntlets designed to be worn over a jacket cuff. They have more insulation and often better water resistance than under-the-cuff gloves—or are fully waterproof—making them appropriate for temps in the 20s Fahrenheit and lower, and they usually cost more. I chose only two-piece gloves, with removable liners, for versatility in activities like backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, ski touring, climbing, or winter hiking and backpacking, where temperatures and your exertion level vary.
Suit up smartly. See my review of “The Best Clothing Layers for Winter in the Backcountry.”

How to Choose Winter Gloves
How do you choose between under- and over-the-cuff gloves? While either style can be worn for most of the activities I’ve mentioned, consider these factors:
•    Your activity. •    Your usual range of weather conditions and temperatures. •    How easily your fingers get cold. •    Thicker, warmer gloves are overkill for high-intensity activities like skate skiing and winter running. •    Under-the-cuff gloves are usually best for outings of a few hours or less. •    Over-the-cuff gloves are usually best for multi-hour, all-day, or multi-day activities, especially when your hands are repeatedly in snow (such as when backcountry skiing or snowshoeing).
I’ve listed the products below in ascending order by price within the two categories, and pointed out the pros and cons of each and what they’re best for.
  Under-the-Cuff Gloves
  Black Diamond Mont Blanc Gloves.
Black Diamond Mont Blanc Gloves $25, 2 oz. (medium) Sizes: unisex XS-XL moosejaw.com
Pros: Lightweight, very breathable, excellent dexterity, touchscreen fingertips. Cons: Minimal weather resistance, unisex sizing. Best For: Being active in temps from around freezing into the 40s.
No matter how easily your hands get cold, you will encounter conditions at any time of year (not just winter) when you need a light glove. Whether for high-exertion activities like running or Nordic skiing in temps around freezing to well above, hiking in cool weather, or long ultra-runs and hikes—BD designed this model with the ultra-race of the Tour du Mont Blanc in mind—these featherweight gloves are a good pick. With my typically cold fingers, I found them perfect for hiking and trail running in temps in the 30s and 40s, but not warm enough for high-speed skate-skiing in temps in the 30s, because you create your own wind; but my wife, whose fingers don’t get cold easily, found them ideal for skate-skiing in those temps.
A weather-resistant shell fabric on the back of the hand and digits sheds light precipitation and blocks some wind, while the stretch palm and cuff release perspiration and dry quickly; and the cuff seals snugly around the wrist. A silicone grip pattern covers the entire palm and grabbing side of the digits, for easily holding onto poles and bottles. And the thumb and forefinger tips have excellent touchscreen sensitivity. Sizing is average, with a skin-tight fit that doesn’t feel too tight because of the stretch, which also helps accommodate different hand types.

The North Face Runners 2 Etip Gloves.
The North Face Runners 2 Etip Gloves $30, 1.5 oz. (medium) Sizes: unisex XXS-XL moosejaw.com
Pros: Lightweight, very breathable, excellent dexterity, touchscreen fingertips. Cons: Minimal weather resistance, unisex sizing. Best For: Running and hiking in temps in the 30s and 40s.
Like BD’s Mont Blanc Gloves, the Runners 2 Etip is made for high exertion in cool temps, but leans more toward maximum breathability—best for running and cool-weather hiking. The lightweight fleece fabric stretches and breathes very well, delivering just enough warmth for temps around the mid-30s to the 40s, and light rain rolls off the soft-shell fabric on the back of the hand and fingers, which blocks some wind.
The back of the forefinger and thumb sport a nose wipe of soft, brushed fleece. A minimal amount of silicone grip pattern covers parts of the palm and three fingers. The close fit permits good dexterity, and the touchscreen sensitivity in the forefinger and thumb is good. The sizing runs slightly large, but there’s a wider range of sizes than with other models.

Outdoor Research PL 400 Sensor Gloves
Outdoor Research PL 400 Sensor Gloves $40, 2 oz. (men’s medium) Sizes: men’s S-XL, women’s S-L moosejaw.com
Pros: Lightweight, warm liner, excellent dexterity, touchscreen fingertips, men’s and women’s sizes. Cons: Not weatherproof, dry slower than other light gloves. Best For: When dexterity is needed in cold temperatures, or when active in temps from just below to just above freezing.
For the dexterity and warmth they offer, these double-layer gloves stayed on my hands much of the time on a four-day, April climb of the Mountaineers Route on California’s 14,505-foot Mount Whitney—at times alone, often under a shell glove. Made of stretchy, 300-weight fleece with a 100-weight fleece liner, they strike a balance between more warmth than most liner gloves—which are lighter—and optimal dexterity for delicate tasks like firing up a stove.
They extend slightly beyond the wrist for better warmth. The fabric breathes really well, wicks sweat, and dries quickly, and fingertips and palms have an no-slip, silicone print. The forefinger and thumb tips are reliably touchscreen compatible, though you have to tap a little more deliberately than with bare hands. There is a quick clip for mating the gloves. They’re ideal as a single glove in temperatures from the 20s to the 30s Fahrenheit (depending on your activity and how easily your fingers get cold), or as a liner under a shell glove or mitten in colder temps. One the downside, once wet, do not dry as quickly as lighter gloves.

Keep your noggin warm, too. See my “Review: The Best Winter Hats.”
Seirus Soundtouch Xtreme All Weather Gloves.
Seirus Soundtouch Xtreme All Weather Gloves $55, 3.5 oz. (men’s medium) Sizes: men’s and women’s S-XXL ems.com
Pros: Lightweight, waterproof-breathable, warm, excellent dexterity, touchscreen fingertips, and great value. Cons: Too warm for some users for high-intensity activities in temps above freezing. Best For: High-intensity activities in cold temps, or moderate activity in temperatures above freezing.
Through waves of heavy rain and thunderstorms in chilly temperatures on a mid-September backpacking trip in Wyoming’s Wind River Range, these lightweight gloves kept my hands warm and absolutely dry. They also proved plenty warm enough for a morning near freezing while backpacking in May in Utah’s Dark Canyon Wilderness, as well as on frosty days cycling and hiking at home.
With a light fleece lining and a stretchy cuff that extends about two inches behind the wrist bones, these gloves felt quite warm in temps in the low 40s Fahrenheit; even with my cold fingers, I could wear them in temps down into the 20s, so they’re as warm as some bulkier fleece gloves. But unless you get cold fingers easily, they’re too warm for hiking in temps in the 40s or running in temps much above freezing. A waterproof-breathable Pro-Fit insert kept my hands dry through heavy rain during thunderstorms in the Winds, and even when I ran tap water over them; they’ll certainly repel snow. The soft-shell outer fabric’s four-way stretch affords a close fit with excellent dexterity. Soundtouch sensitivity in the thumb and forefinger allowed me to easily tap out text messages and select icons on a phone screen, and PVC in the palm adds durability.

  Marmot XT Glove
Marmot XT Glove $75, 4 oz. (men’s medium) Sizes: men’s XS-XL moosejaw.com
Pros: Water-resistant, lightweight, good fit and dexterity, palm pad. Cons: No women’s sizes or touchscreen sensor. Best For: High-intensity activities in any weather, or any activity in moderate temperatures.
I wore the XT Gloves for numerous one- and two-hour, skate-skiing workouts from the Harriman Trail in Idaho’s Wood River Valley to my local Nordic trails above Boise, and for cold-weather biking around town. Even in temps in the low 20s and some wind on a sunny, two-hour ski tour in the Boise Mountains, and a four-mile dayhike in the Boise Foothills on a 15° F morning, my chronically cold fingers stayed warm.
The proprietary, water-resistant, breathable MemBrain stretch fabric on the backs of the hands repels snow and light rain, while the DriClime lining wicks sweat. Falcon Grip articulation and Pittards leather in the palms and undersides of the fingers deliver good dexterity, fit, and easy gripping for manipulating pack buckles and zipper pulls; that leather makes the palms more durable than nylon, too. A small palm pad cushions the ulnar nerve, especially useful when using poles. The hoop-and-loop wrist closure seals out cold air. There is a quick clip for mating the gloves, but no touchscreen sensor.

  Smartwool Ridgeway Glove.
Smartwool Ridgeway Glove $80, 5.5 oz. (medium) Sizes: Unisex XS-XL moosejaw.com
Pros: Very durable, water-resistant, lightweight, good dexterity. Cons: No women’s sizes or touchscreen sensor. Best For: Everything from high- and moderate-intensity activities in temps below and above freezing to all-around, everyday use, including working outside.
For high-speed Nordic skate-skiing in temps down to the mid-20s as well as biking around town, these gloves kept my chronically cold fingers happy, thanks to the warm and soft, Merino wool and nylon lining. And yet they’re low bulk, fitting easily in pole straps and offering good dexterity. With goat leather everywhere but on the back of the hand (to make that area more breathable and the glove more flexible), and a double layer of leather reinforcing the thumb and forefinger, the Ridgeway is an excellent all-around winter glove for everything from cross-country skiing and snowshoeing to bike commuting and working in the yard and elsewhere.
The cuff lacks a closure strap or elasticity, leaving it slightly open, but fits easily under any jacket cuff to keep snow and cold out. They’re not warm enough for downhill skiing, except on sunny, warm early-spring days. Sizing runs slightly small, probably to accommodate women’s hands (since these are unisex); men on the cusp between sizes will probably need to size up. But I almost always wear men’s medium, and the medium Ridgeway fit my hands well.

  Black Diamond Legend Gloves
Black Diamond Legend Gloves $150, 8 oz. (medium) Sizes: men’s S-XL, women’s XS-L moosejaw.com
Pros: Waterproof, all leather, padded, very warm. Cons: Too warm for moderate temps, minimal dexterity for under-the-cuff gloves. Best For: Deep cold while backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, ice climbing, and mountaineering, or working outside.
BD’s Legend Glove achieves a successful marriage of the warmth of a three-in-one, over-the-cuff glove with the fit of an under-the-cuff glove. With 170g of PrimaLoft Gold insulation on the backs of the hands and 133g of PrimaLoft Gold Eco in the palms, these are the warmest under-the-cuff gloves I’ve ever used—and they come loaded with high-end features. Shoveling out our tent after a night of wet, heavy snowfall, and taking the tent down later—with my hands repeatedly in heavy, sloppy snow—I found the Gore-Tex-lined Legend Gloves lived up to their fully waterproof claim. Ditto when I shoveled about a half ton of wet snow off the deck of a backcountry yurt in Idaho’s Boise Mountains. They’re built for hard use, with goat leather construction, Kevlar stitching, and compression-molded EVA padding on the backs of the hands. The soft suede nose wipe on the thumbs and a neoprene cuff with hook-and-loop closure close out a rich feature set.
Not surprisingly, I also found these gloves too warm for highly aerobic skate skiing in temps around freezing. They’re best for moderate-exertion, cold-temperature activities like ice climbing, resort skiing, skiing downhill in the backcountry (or skinning uphill in very cold temperatures), or hiking, snowshoeing and ski touring in temperatures well below freezing.

  Over-the-Cuff Gloves and Mittens
  Outdoor Reseach Phosphor Mitts
Outdoor Research Phosphor Mitts $90, 5 oz. (men’s medium) Sizes: men’s and women’s XS-XL moosejaw.com
Pros: Very warm, windproof and water-resistant, good price for the quality. Cons: Too warm for moderate temps, very minimal dexterity. Best For: Backcountry and resort skiing, snowshoeing, ice and alpine climbing, winter hiking and backpacking.
For bone-chilling days of skiing, climbing, snowshoeing, fitness walking, or other outdoor activities, few models match the deep warmth of the Phosphor Mitts. They kept my chronically cold digits warm on windy, frosty days of resort skiing, even when the temp started dropping fast toward sunset and other gloves weren’t warm enough. (They’ve become a favorite of my teenage son for skiing because he prefers the warmth of mittens.)
Stuffed with 650-fill power goose down, these mitts keep digits toasty in wind and temps from the low 20s to below zero Fahrenheit—they’re actually too warm for temps in the mid-20s or higher. The Gore Windstopper membrane and water-resistant and tough, synthetic suede palm shed snow and other forms of frozen water—and you don’t need waterproof mitts in the temps you’ll wear these. The polyester tricot lining feels soft enough and doesn’t cling to damp skin. The big pull loop on the gauntlet helps you easily yank them on, even when gripping it with the other mitt, and they clip together.
The fit is true to size—and while they come in men’s and women’s sizes, with bulky mitts like these, there’s little difference in fit between genders (because they don’t have fingers); women could use men’s mitts in their size. The downside of super warm mittens, of course, is very minimal dexterity.

The North Face Triclimate Etip Glove
The North Face Triclimate Etip Glove $90, 9 oz. (medium) Sizes: men’s XS-XL moosejaw.com
Pros: Waterproof, warm, elasticized wristband on leash, touchscreen compatible, relatively affordable. Cons: Slightly large fit may compromise touchscreen compatibility; some skiers will consider the wristband inconvenient. Best For: Backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, ice and alpine climbing, winter hiking and backpacking.
On a full day of resort skiing in wind chills below zero, I was surprised that my hands never felt cold in these gloves—except once, when we stopped for a short break and cooled down. I wore them on multiple days of backcountry skiing with similar results, thanks to 200g of insulation on the backs of the hands and 100g in the palms. I also wore the fleece- and tricot-lined shell glove alone when I didn’t need the full system, such as when skinning uphill in relatively cold temps. The removable liner glove is made with a thin, light, wicking fabric for skinning uphill or touring in relatively warm temps.
The proprietary, waterproof-breathable Hyvent lining and extended gauntlet with a one-hand adjustment drawcord kept my hands dry when digging and working in a snow pit to evaluate avalanche hazard. Synthetic leather in the palms and undersides of the fingers provide good grip and durability, while nylon fabric throughout the rest of the shell repels moisture. The shell glove’s fingers are curved, keeping your hands in a natural position when resting.
Fit is slightly large: The liner glove fingers on the medium were slightly long for my fingers, which was only a problem when using a touchscreen, because the extra fingertip fabric would get in the way of swiping or tapping, rendering the gloves’ touchscreen compatibility inconsistent for me—although it works perfectly well. The shell glove has a wide, elasticized wrist band at the end of its leash, to guarantee you won’t lose the glove in extreme situations, like ice climbing or ski mountaineering, when dropping a glove could really mean losing it forever. But the wristband, which you have to slide over your hand whenever taking the gloves off or putting them on, is overkill for most skiers and somewhat inconvenient.

  Outdoor Research Luminary Sensor Gloves
Outdoor Research Luminary Sensor Gloves $135, 8 oz. (men’s medium) Sizes: men’s S-XL, women’s S-L moosejaw.com
Pros: Warm, versatile, fully featured, excellent touchscreen compatibility. Cons: Not the best choice for relatively mild temps or spring skiing. Best For: Backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, ice and alpine climbing, winter hiking and backpacking.
In temperatures ranging from the single digits and sub-zero wind chills to around freezing, and skies from bluebird to snowing, these three-in-one system gloves became my go-to hand wear for backcountry skiing. My hands typically get cold during the first 30 minutes of skiing—even when I’m skinning uphill the entire time—but that didn’t happen in these gloves, which seem warmer than many in this category. That’s due to the combination of the removable, wool-blend inner glove, which delivers significant warmth, and the water-resistant Gore-Tex Windstopper soft-shell outer glove, which blocks the chilling effects of wind.
This system places its insulation in the liner rather than in the shell glove, which translates to a specific strategy for hand-temperature management: You wear the outer glove when you’re working hard (e.g., skinning uphill), and add the liner when you need more warmth, such as when digging a snow pit or skiing downhill. That means you still have wind and weather protection without making your hands sweaty, and it also makes this glove better for cold temps, or for people who get cold hands easily, than a system glove with a thin, removable liner (which is better for milder temps, like spring skiing)—although you could always supplement this system with inexpensive liner gloves for spring.
The Luminary also sports high-end features like water-resistant, tricot-bonded, goat leather palms for grip, plus leather overlays on the palm for added durability, and tricot lining in the shell glove. The touchscreen compatibility in the thumb and index finger works well even while wearing the full system (inner and outer glove). A one-hand drawcord closure on the extended gauntlet keeps out snow and it has a removable and adjustable leash. And I like the big nylon loop for pulling the glove on, and the loop on the shell glove’s middle finger for clipping them to a harness fingers-up (to keep snow out).

Outdoor Research Mt. Baker Modular Mitts
Outdoor Research Mt. Baker Modular Mitts $145, 9.5 oz. (medium) Sizes: men’s S-XL moosejaw.com
Pros: Super warm and waterproof, two-piece system, glove dexterity with mitten warmth. Cons: Too warm except in temps well below freezing, no women’s sizes. Best For: Deep cold and expeditions.
Skiing in a wind chill around zero at times during a four-day, January trip to a backcountry yurt in Idaho’s Boise Mountains, my fingers—which get cold very easily—stayed toasty in this two-piece system of removable, insulated gloves inside a Gore-Tex shell mitten.
The warmth comes from 170g PrimaLoft One synthetic insulation in the glove insert, which has a soft, fleece lining. The Gore-Tex mitten shell kept moisture out and is made with the same 70-denier taslan ripstop polyester used in OR’s tough gaiters. Dexterity in the gloves is good enough to fuss with pack straps, boot buckles, and the like.
The mitts have smart details, like the one-hand gauntlet cinch on the shell mitten that’s manipulated easily with a gloved hand; adjustable straps at the wrist on both the mittens and gloves; and the carabiner loop on the mittens for clipping them to a harness or pack wrist-down, to prevent precipitation from getting inside them. AlpenGrip pads on the thumb and fingertips help you hold onto things. Note: With so much insulation, they’re made for temps in the teens and colder Fahrenheit. However, because the mittens have no insulation, they can double as three-season rain shells.

One of my friends asked me on Facebook to elaborate on the strengths and weaknesses of some smartphones.
Challenge fucking accepted.
You asked for it! Here's a comparison of 9 fairly current high-end smartphones (not at all exhaustive, there's also Moto/excellent Chinese phone companies/excellent previous-gen stuff/etc, but cmon).
Display Size
4.7": Apple iPhone 7 5.0": Google Pixel 5.2" + vertical stretch = 5.8": Samsung GS8, LG G6 5.5": HTC U11, Google Pixel XL, Apple iPhone 7 Plus, OnePlus 3T 5.5" + vertical stretch = 6.2": Samsung GS8+
The LG and Samsung phones this generation have taller screens than usual. This makes them have large sizes when measured by the diagonal but about the same width as the previous generation. I've quoted their equivalent size (the size their width would normally indicate) as well as their actual diagonal.
Display Quality (besides colors)
All are very good. High-end phones no longer have poor displays (thank god). The OnePlus has a bit lower resolution than the others; the rest are in "too high to notice" territory.
The Samsung, Google, and Oneplus displays are OLED. The HTC, LG, and Apple are LCD. Both panel types have their strengths and weaknesses (different color shift, potential for burn-in, etc) but honestly most people can't tell the difference.
(Samsung does a weird thing with their panel that annoys the nerd in me but don't worry about all that)
Display Color Accuracy
Some devices make colors more colorful than they actually are (like many TVs). This makes their displays look better when side by side in a store but some people dislike it (i.e. me).
The Apple devices ship with extremely accurate colors.
The Samsung, Google, and OnePlus devices ship with inaccurate, overblown colors but have settings to change that if desired.
The LG G6, as far as I can tell, is stuck with inaccurate, overblown colors.
No idea about the HTC U11 yet.
Performance
The Apple devices are far and away the fastest smartphones you can buy.
I'd give the HTC U11 a small edge in performance from what I've read but all of the Android devices mentioned are fairly similar in speed. (They all use similar Qualcomm Kryo CPU cores, for one, with the HTC and Samsung having one generation newer processors.)
Software
LG and Samsung add a lot of software over stock Android. A lot of it is not worth using and I prefer to have as little extra stuff on my phone as possible. The others are all quite good.
Google and Apple have the edge in timely software and security updates, of course.
Camera Quality
You can compare reviews and test images. Like the display quality thing, high-end phones no longer have poor cameras. Megapixels don't matter at all.
Some of these have really high-end features like RAW capture if you're a serious photographer.
Camera Gimmicks
The iPhone 7 Plus can zoom in really well. The LG G6 can zoom out very well. Both are because of having 2 cameras.
Battery
I can't find a site that comparatively reviewed many of these, so I dunno. (Different sites' numbers cannot be compared with each other.)
You can compare battery capacities, but engineering dictates power efficiency, so they won't translate to battery performance.
MicroSD Storage Expansion
Yes: HTC, Samsung, LG No: Google, Apple, OnePlus
3.5mm Headphone Jacks
Yes: Samsung, LG, Google, OnePlus No: Apple, HTC
They all come with compatible headphones in the box, of course, and USBC/Lightning headphones are slowly becoming available, but only phones with a 3.5mm jack will be compatible with the headphones you already have.
Internal Speakers
The HTC U11 specifically advertises its built-in speaker quality, a traditional HTC strength. I didn't look up specific comparisons.
Wireless Charging
Yes: Samsung, LG No: HTC, Google, Apple, OnePlus
Fingerprint Sensors
All of them have fingerprint sensors. I didn't compare reviews to find the most reliable/fastest.
Water Resistance
Yes: HTC, Samsung, Apple, LG No: Google, OnePlus
Don't go swimming with any of these, obviously, but the IP67/IP68 rated devices should be splashproof and even survive a dunk in water just fine.
Design/Aesthetics
Ah, this is the important one. Let's be honest: None of that above stuff really matters since they're all fine. The phone for you is the one you like to hold and use.
The Google, Apple, and OnePlus devices are aluminum-backed, while the HTC, Samsung, and LG devices have glass backs. But each is really quite different in shape and appearance.
The LG G6 has rounded screen edges. This is kinda cool, but kinda strange too. (I've heard it's a bit ragged-edged on close inspection.)
The Samsung devices have even more rounded edges, as well as curved screens. This is kinda cool, but kinda strange too. They look stunning but I personally dislike the corners.
Most of these devices have flat backs; HTC has stuck to their curved back design. You'd have to hold them in a store to be sure which felt best, I think.
Some of these are smaller than you'd expect based on their display sizes, especially the Samsung and LG devices.
Price (approx)
440 OnePlus 3T
650 Apple iPhone 7 650 Google Pixel
700 HTC U11 700 LG G6
750 Samsung GS8
770 Google Pixel XL 770 Apple iPhone 7 Plus
850 Samsung GS8+
---
If I were to get a new phone, I would personally choose... none of these, and buy a previous-generation HTC 10. I like the curved back but don't want a glass-backed phone.

8. Finalize A Location
The next step is to search for a suitable location. These tools will help you know the areas of your city from where and what kind of food items are ordered or searched. This might not be necessary for you if you are getting the brand registered on an application like Swiggy or Zomato but do not forget to find out the keywords if you are dependent on getting orders on your website. This will decrease the cost a lot. If the destination is far away from the cloud kitchen, then it will be time-taking and the consumers can’t enjoy hot and fresh meals.
9. Perform Interior Decoration
The next step is to design the interior of the kitchen. Think out of the box without inculcating huge costs because customers will not see it. However, it should be beautiful and clean. A beautifully designed place is full of energy and this energy is transferred to the people working there. These are high-quality ethics to start a cloud kitchen that takes birth only to succeed. Make a place for everything including the storage area, washing area, electricity arrangements, gas stove, drainage, exhaust, customized equipment, seating area, etc. The best technical plan for kitchen design can be availed by an expert and you will have no complaints at the end of the day.
10. Start Kitchen Planning
Start kitchen planning according to the menu since the kitchen will have all the equipment and everything to prepare dishes finalized in the menu. Utilizing the space is the key. You should plan different sections for different dishes, if you have plans to operate in multi-brand kitchen. Choose the right consultant before you start a cloud kitchen for applying the most accurate civil and electrical engineering skills for storage, drainage, exhaust and ventilation planning. Select safe kitchen equipment with best quality steel.
11. Plan Hygiene Maintenance
In cloud kitchen business, the biggest challenge is maintaining hygiene after starting a cloud kitchen. There must be dedicated staff to continuously clean the platform, the floor, utensils, and everything. Cleaning the platform must be done every 15 minutes in peak season or time while getting orders continually. It would be helpful in avoiding diseases to the staff and the customers and prevent mismanagement. It will also give rise to good vibes to the people working there. Therefore, their productivity will be better. Make up your mind and be determined for hygiene before you start a cloud kitchen because this is the biggest challenge in cloud kitchen business.
12. Ask about Wastage Management
Many restaurants and hotels are not able to manage food wastage and they tend to serve stale food using cold storage. This is a very unhealthy practice that you must try your best to avoid. The solution lies in procurement & liaisoning. Arrange for raw material according to the demand. Define the needs accurately, formulate strategy, choose right suppliers who give competitive rates after negotiation, and implement CRM. If you want to serve fresh food to your customers, learn negotiation skills before you start a cloud kitchen.
13. Develop a Website
If you want to take your cloud kitchen business go long then you must invest in developing a website for your brand. Provide all the details related to the company, the food items, the address, the licenses, the mission, the vision, and everything related to the brand before starting a cloud kitchen. Connect a payment gateway to the website to help the customers who want to order online directly from your website. Arrange every convenience for your customers and they will be all yours.
14. Create a Marketing Plan
A marketing plan can be the key to success if it is created properly. Use the pictures of food items made by you. The principle of ‘‘whatever is seen, is sold’’ in the retail industry can work in cloud kitchen business as an added advantage. If people will be attracted to the pictures of food items then there are possibilities that they would be tempted to consume them also. Therefore, the marketing campaign must have a sufficient number of pictures with appropriate taglines. When you start a cloud kitchen, use different ways of positioning your brand, for example, dry snacks can be advertised to be consumed at all times of the day. This would increase their consumption and thereby profit levels.
15. Establish Business Tie-Ups
Once you are ready with the entire business plan for cloud kitchen concept, then you must establish tie-ups with service providers like Zomato and Swiggy. With the help of these channels, it will be easier for you to earn money. These are the set platforms where people often visit to order food online. The necessary formalities are having a food license if it is a home kitchen and GST Number if you have commercial space separately. It is one of the mandatory steps to get success in the cloud kitchen setup.

Do remember your customers’ importance after you start a cloud kitchen and become a market leader.
20. Continue Marketing
Every business needs digital marketing tactics to survive. There is a lot of competition. Another fact associated with marketing is that it is an ongoing process. It is a simple activity to keep telling the consumers about the product you offer otherwise the competitors will take over the market in no time. The food industry has immense scope of innovation. Keep doing it and keep marketing it to fulfill your dreams. Food can, not only give us nourishment but also scads of money especially in the cloud kitchen business.
Conclusion

The Best Trickle Chargers For Cars And Motorcycles – 2020 Buyer’s Guide With Reviews
Whether you are a car enthusiast or not you know that the list of tools your cars need is often endless, especially if you take care of it yourself. One surprisingly affordable yet crucial gadget that every garage needs is a trickle charger. These devices prevent your battery from fully depleting and effectively shortening its lifespan. That is done through a continuous flow of low-amperage charge flow to the battery that matches its self-discharge rate. Browsing through the best trickle chargers can be tricky, however, as most modern models are very similar in terms of their features and performance.
In this guide, we will set the standard for what a good trickle charger should be able to do and give you a few extra tips on how to use one. Below are some of the top models for 2020 with their strongest (and weakest) features…

BLACK+DECKER BM3B Fully Automatic Battery Charger/Maintainer
Our Rating: (5/5)
The Black+Decker BM3B is one of the best trickle chargers out there for one good reason – it is a great all-rounder. Even with its budget price tag, it easily outperforms other more expensive models. The charger comes in a compact shockproof shell that is very practical and convenient.
It works semi-automatically, meaning you have to select whether the output is 6 or 12 Volts, according to your battery type. Then, it will charge it with its 1.5Amp outgoing current. It works with AGM, Wet, and Gel batteries. I a sense, this is more of a battery maintainer since it will cut off once the battery reaches 100%. When the battery drops below a certain percentage, it will kick back in and re-charge it back to the top again. That “float mode” is what makes it a desirable budget charger suitable for any garage and most battery sizes.
It comes with a mounting bracket on the back, as well as an extension cord and two clamps for the terminals. One downside is that it isn’t waterproof, especially since the other models from Black+Decker’s line of chargers are. Unlike some other models it also isn’t quite suitable for charging a battery, so if your battery is too low, it will take quite some time before it tops it off.
Pros
Great price to value ratio
Works perfectly for all battery types and sizes
Comes with a wall-mounting bracket and well-built clamps
Can be switched between 6 and 12 volts
Shockproof
Practical and convenient design
Cons
Not suitable for charging dead batteries
Not officially waterproof

NOCO Genius G750 Battery Charger and Maintainer
Our Rating: (4.5/5)
NOCO has been the go-to brand for portable jumpstarters, car batteries, and trickle chargers for the past decade. Nowadays, they are still one of the premium brands in this category. The NOCO Genius G750 is a compact battery maintainer that uses a super weak current to keep your battery fully charger throughout its offseason. Whether you have an RV, truck, motorcycle, lawnmower, car, or anything else that you aren’t using for the full 12 months of the year, this is the best way to keep it in shape.
The G750 has an output of both 12 and 6 Volts making it quite universal when it comes to battery types. It works on a “thin” current of 0.75 Amps. While that is ideal to keep smaller batteries at 100%, it won’t be good enough to charge bigger ones if they are depleted. If you own a big truck that has an equally big battery to power it, you will need a stronger current to keep it fully charged. Still, the weaker the current the better for the battery’s long-term health, and that is why some brands double-down on 0.75 Amp trickle chargers. It can fully charge batteries only up to 30 Ah in less than a day. Anything above 30Ah, the G750 will only maintain.
Despite its slightly steep price tag, the NOCO Genius G750 comes with a plethora of accessories and is backed by a full 5-year warranty. In the package, you are getting a 12V Male plug, SAE Adapter, XL Eyelets, a 10ft Extension, and two clamps. This trickle charger is also one of the few in the class backed by an official IP rating, making it dustproof and splashproof.

Schumacher SC1300 Automatic Battery Maintainer
Our Rating: (4.5/5)
The Schumacher SC1300 Automatic battery maintainer has been a user-favorite for quite some time now. Even today, it still is competitive and arguably better than most other maintainers out there. It is relatively cheap, well-built, and very flexible when it comes to powering different types of batteries.
The output here is at 1.5 Amps which is almost at charging territory. This means that while it can trickle charge batteries of all types and sizes, it can also charge up smaller batteries (up to 30Ah) relatively fast. It works for both 6 and 12V batteries. The impressive part of this battery maintainer is that it has a smart processor on the inside. That processor is responsible for its automatic charging functions. There is a multi-stage charging here which adds precision to your charging levels and can control the flow that goes to the battery based on the battery status. The fully-automated system also detects the voltage of your battery and switches it accordingly.
In terms of safety, there is a reverse hook-up protection which prevents any damage in case you hook up the clamps in reverse order. The downside here is that you don’t get clamps and the charger isn’t easily mountable to your wall unless you use double-sided adhesive.
Pros
Great price to value ratio
Convenient and versatile
Automatically detects the battery voltage and changes accordingly
Works with all types of batteries
Has a multi-stage charging processor
Has reverse hook-up protection
Cons
Not easily mountable on your wall

CTEK (40-206) MXS 5.0 Battery Charger and Maintainer
Our Rating: (4.5/5)
The CTEK 40-206 MXS 5.0 Battery Charger is one of the more expensive models out there. While it is a little pricey, it more than makes up for that with its 4.3 Amp outgoing current. That makes it ideal for both maintaining large batteries (up to 160Ah) and charging rarely large ones (up to 110Ah). Most other compact maintainers cannot handle batteries bigger than 30-40Ah, but this one can easily trickle charge most truck batteries out there.
To top that, this particular bundle comes with a ton of accessories. In the package, you are getting 2 chargers, 4 indicator accessories, 2 12V car-plugs, and 2 extension cables. Basically, if you are taking care of more than one vehicle during their off-seasons, this bundle is the best deal out there. The MXS 5.0 is also one of the more durable chargers out there since it is dust and shockproof. It also has spark-proof and reserve-polarity protections making is super safe to use. Lastly, the charger is fully automatic, meaning it can double as a maintainer shutting off every time it detects that the battery is at 100%.
One of the biggest downsides of this potent charger, however, is that it cannot charge 6V batteries. As a whole, this charger is one feature away from being the go-to universal trickle charger even despite its price.
Pros
This bundle comes with a lot of accessories
Can fully charge batteries up to 110Ah
Can trickle charge batteries up to 160Ah
Shock and dustproof
Has spark-proof and reverse-polarity protection
Compact design
Cons

BikeMaster Battery Charger
Our Rating: (4.5/5)
The BikeMaster Battery Charger isn’t the most powerful on this list but it is good at its intended job – trickle charging smaller batteries. If you have a motorcycle that you winterize or any other small vehicle or tool that uses a smaller lithium-ion battery, this is one of the best and most practical choices for you.
The charger itself is good enough for batteries up to 60Ah in terms of charging but it can handle trickle charging much bigger batteries up to 120Ah. It works at 2 Amps and 12 Volts giving it a decent amount of range, although it won’t be any good for 6 Volt batteries. While the construction isn’t water or dustproof, there is a circuit-protection guard adding to the safety of the charger.
The major downside, as the name suggests, is that this works on Lithium-ion batteries. While it is good that it is targeted at a specific group of batteries, there are cheaper models out there that are much universal. One example of that is the much cheaper Black+Decker BM3B. Still, the BikeMaster charger comes with an extension cord and two decent clamps. It also has wall-attachment ears mounted to its body frame, making it easier to put on the wall in your garage.
Pros
Powerful enough to fully charge bigger batteries
Has a smart trickle charging function
Comes with a circuit-protector
Small and convenient design
Perfect for lithium-ion batteries
Cons
Not a good value for your money
Doesn’t charge batteries other than Lithium-ion
Cannot charge 6V batteries

BLACK+DECKER BC2WBD Battery Charger/Maintainer
Our Rating: (4/5)
Having the first and last position to a Black+Decker product just proves that a company can make both the best and the not-so-good products out there. The fully-automatic Black+Decker BC2BDW is a robust charger that works at 2 amps and 12V. It is capable of powering up most of the batteries out there and can do it relatively fast. It works with AGM, Wet, and Gel batteries and can charge ones that are up to 30-40Ah relatively quick. For anything bigger, however, it will only act as a trickle charger.
On the downside, this charger won’t work with 6 Volt batteries and also won’t be good enough to charge larger batteries, as it will only be able to trickle charge them. Still, it has the usual Black+Decker safety features such as an official IP rating, a reverse-polarity protection mechanism, and is ETL/CEC Compliant. Also, while the material quality is generally good all-around, the clamps aren’t as rigid as the rest of the charger. Some users report the waterproofing not being good enough as well.
Pros
Works well with all kinds of batteries
Fairly priced
Rigid construction
Has AC low-voltage compensation
Has Reverse-polairty protections
Cons
Doesn’t work with 6 Volt batteries
Waterproofing isn’t perfect
Clamps are of poor quality

Trickle Chargers Buyer’s Guide
Trickle chargers have been used for quite a lot of decades now. A while back, they were bulky and hard-to-carry devices that usually stayed in the garages of state-owned vehicles that were used for seasonal work. That meant that the vehicle had to stay put for close to half the year which lead to issues with the battery depleting itself and not having enough charge to start the vehicle right back up when the time is due.
Modern families often have summer cars that spend the winter in the garage, waiting for the warmer days. Even then, though, the car uses a small amount of power on a constant basis that can fully deplete a battery in a matter of weeks if you don’t start up or drive the car to regenerate the battery back to its full state. That creates a problem – a fully depleted battery is of no use once you need it and allowing it to fully deplete also significantly shortens its life span. This is where modern trickle chargers come into play. Let’s now take a closer look at how exactly they work and why they are a must-have for any car owner!
How Do Trickle Chargers Work
As I mentioned earlier, every battery discharges slowly as time goes by. If you don’t meet that self-discharge rate with an equally big charging rate, you risk the battery slowly depleting itself. That is the whole point around a trickle charger – it supplies a low-amperage electricity flow to the battery that matches its discharge rate precisely, keeping it fully charged and healthy.
Some more expensive trickle chargers have smart functions that allow them to turn themselves off when they sense the battery is fully charged or the option to regulate their amperage and voltage according to the battery’s needs. These are often called “battery maintainers” instead of trickle chargers as their goal is to maintain the battery’s power at 100%.
There are also trickle chargers that can up their amperage to around 7-10 Amps in order to charge the battery faster, essentially turning them into 2-in-1 battery chargers. Now, let’s take a look at the benefits a trickle charger has over not having one…
Benefits Of Trickle Chargers
There are a number of benefits that you get from having a trickle charger in your garage. Some of the most notable ones are:
It prolongs your battery’s life
Trickle charging your battery improves its long-term performance
Prevents your battery from going dead when your car is parked for the season
Makes sure you have a fully-charged battery at all times in case of an emergency
Most models can adjust their amperage according to the battery’s needs improving the longevity of lead-acid batteries
It is an inexpensive way of reducing the running costs of your car
With every product there are features that you need to look out for, however. With the abundance of models out there, it can be confusing when you’re shopping for your first trickle charger. This next chapter is dedicated to all the important features that you should take into consideration when making your final choice.
Features To Look For
Trickle chargers are often defined by their stats and metrics. However, stats don’t always tell the full story and we must also learn how they help shape the device’s performance compared to its competitors. This is what we will do now by going through the following features:
Type
Amperage & Voltage
Capacity & Compatibility
Material quality
Additional features
Price
Type
There are two main types of trickle chargers – automatic and manual. They are sometimes referred to as “smart” and “dumb” respectively. The main difference is that the automatic trickle chargers can detect various stats of your battery and act accordingly, while manual trickle chargers are more primitive and only do what you tell them, hence the name “dumb”. Automatic models also regulate their amperage according to the battery’s needs and even shut off when the battery is fully charged. That is called “Float mode” and I will touch on it a bit further down.
There is also a third kind of trickle chargers that is basically an all-in-one charger that can fully charge your battery fast but also has a trickle function. Those are typically a bit bulkier and way more expensive. Still, if you want one tool instead of two, these are worth the consideration.
Amperage & Voltage
While the topic of amperage and voltage can seem complicated at first, it can easily be boiled down to a few simple factors. First off, make sure your trickle charger charges at the right Voltage (V). That can be either 6 or 12 depending on the Voltage of your battery. There are some models that can switch between 6 and 12 volts making them more universal and convenient.
With Amperage (A), you just need to look for models that have a low amount of Amps. The lower the Amps, the slower it will charge the battery which is better for its long-term health. Higher Amperages like 4-8 Amps will charge the battery very fast and are basically considered battery chargers at that point. The maximum you should go to be able to trickle charge the battery is 2 Amps. Ideally, look for models that have 1 or lower Amps, such as 0.75A.
Capacity & Compatibility
When you choose your trickle charger, you should do so according to your vehicle’s engine. The bigger the engine, the bigger the battery will be and, therefore, you’ll need a more powerful trickle charger. 1 Amp trickle chargers are typically suitable for smaller engines and motorcycles, while 2-amp models can handle bigger batteries without much issue. If they are automatic, they will also be able to regulate their amperage to fit the needs of a smaller battery as well.
You should also make sure that the trickle charger you’ve chosen works with all types of lead-acid batteries (6 and 12-volt ones). There are also other types of batteries that should be compatible such as Gel, AGM, Wet, or other automotive or marine deep-cycle ones.
Material quality
While material quality shouldn’t be your first priority, you should always keep an eye for the well-built models that are wrapped in quality materials. One other part that is often overlooked are the trickle charger clamps. On the budget models, they are often poorly built and flimsy. Make sure you get a charger with sturdy clamps and thick durable cables. A rubberized body is another way to make sure that the charger won’t break if you accidentally drop it.
Additional features
One of the most important additional features a trickle charger can have is the Float mode. This mode allows the trickle charger to keep the battery charged at 100% at all times but also will prevent overcharging and overheating of the battery. To put it simply, once the battery reaches 100%, the trickle charger will cut off and will only start charging when the battery depletes a little bit again.
Temperature sensing modes are also a great additional feature. They are primarily a safety feature of any charger and are a must if you want to prevent your battery from accidentally overheating.
Lastly, look for models that are waterproof. Even if there won’t be any water in your garage, there can be moisture which is very damaging to any electrical device that is constantly plugged into the grid.
Price
When shopping for various car-care items for the offseason, you can easily go overboard with the budget. Lifts, tire bags, trickle chargers, car covers, and various cosmetics can quickly add up to a price that won’t be ideal if you just want to keep your car healthy. Make sure you define the parameters of the trickle charger beforehand and pick one according to your needs instead of going for the highest-end model.
Now, let’s go through some common questions regarding this topic…
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a battery charger and a trickle charger?
Battery chargersare typically far more powerful. While some trickle chargers can go up to 6 Amps and effectively charge up smaller batteries, chargers are better at what they are meant for and charge fully depleted batteries much faster.
Should I charge my battery at 2 or 10 amps?
If you have the time to spare and your battery isn’t too big, charging at a lower Amperage is better for its long-term health. If you are in a hurry, charging at higher Amps is also okay.
What happens if you leave the trickle charger on for too long?
Nothing will happen if you leave the trickle charger running, that is its sole purpose – to keep running for long periods without stopping. It will keep your battery at 100% and prevent depletions.
Final Words
If you have a car that spends its off-season in the garage, then choosing some of the best trickle chargers for it is essential to its battery’s life. Of course, there are other maintenance tips that you need to consider in order to keep it fully prepared for the spring but nothing feels worse than having a dead battery on the first summer day when you want to take your car out! Pay attention to features such as the amperage, voltage regulation, and the capacity of the trickle charger when you browse for one.

Dog Ramp for Car
Dogs are energetic and can’t just sit or lie down, they need to jump, get to certain heights that are at times not physically possible. When a dog is hurt or gets older, it becomes weak and less energetic. This makes it difficult for it to do some movements or be active as it was before. For instance, it becomes challenging to leap into the back of the car. You can find an easier way to assist them by purchasing a dog ramp to make those difficult movements possible. A dog ramp for car offers an easy way for dogs to go up and down your car.
What is a dog ramp?
A dog ramp is a flat piece of plastic, metal or wood that extends from a lower surface to a higher surface to help your dog reach a higher place without lifting him, jumping or climbing. It ensures that the dog doesn’t struggle when getting to higher grounds. A suitable dog ramp is one that can comfortably hold your dog’s weight and can be carried around easily.
How to Gap a Spark Plug
When Is A Dog Ramp Necessary?
Dog ramps play a crucial role in the following groups of dogs;
  Arthritic dogs
Dogs suffering from arthritis may find it hard to hop up and down as this may cause pain, increase joint damage, and slow down the healing process.
  Senior dogs
An elderly dog is often worn out and may have experienced a lot of tears and wear throughout the years. This makes it weak and may need some assistance when getting into a car.
  Puppies
The bones and joints of puppies haven’t developed fully, thus exposing them to a hard landing, frequent jumping or awkward leaps may lead to injuries. A dog ramp can help reduce the occurrence of such injuries.
  Small breed dogs
These dogs love jumping on and off regularly. You can minimize the frequent leaps to avoid injuries or problems in future by using a dog ramp.
  A recovering dog
Dogs recovering from a surgery or injury are weak and need some assistance as they get into the car. A car ramp will help them navigate easily, and ensure that the dog is comfortable when using it.
Injuries That Can Be Avoided or Minimized When A Dog Ramp Is Used
Footpad injuries
Spinal injuries
Broken toenails
Sprains to the shoulders, wrists, and legs
Slipped knee caps
Are Stairs or A Ramp Better for Dogs?
This highly depends on the reason for using stairs or ramp. They both work well to offer assistance to dogs, but this highly depends on the situation. We will consider the groups discussed above.
For arthritic dogs, a ramp could be better than stairs. This is because the dog will not strain a lot as it makes good use of it.
For puppies, stairs would be better than a ramp since they are more energetic. It can be interesting for them to take stairs up to the car as compared to when using a ramp
For senior dogs, a ramp could be better. As previously mentioned, these dogs are weak, thus a ramp would be easier for them than stairs.
Small breed dogs would be more comfortable using stairs. This is because they like making leaps regularly, stairs would enhance this while still protecting it from injuries.
For a dog that is recovering from a surgical procedure or an injury, a dog ramp is a better option to select. This is because they are easier to navigate than stairs. This would prevent more injury and make it easier for your dog as it gets into the car.

It weighs 10.4 pounds and offers a maximum weight capacity of 200lbs. A safety lock mechanism ensures that the ramp is placed securely on your vehicle thus eliminating risks of falls and injuries.
Key Features to Consider when Selecting a Dog Ramp
  It’s weight capacity
As previously mentioned, it’s crucial to select a dog ramp that can hold your dog’s weight comfortably. Even after checking the weight capacity, there are a few aspects to consider for safety and comfort of your dog. An instance is when you have a very enthusiastic or anxious dog. In this case, you will need a dog ramp with a big buffer to efficiently support it without wobbling.
Does it utilize telescoping or folding?
For a dog ramp to be portable, it needs to have a mechanism that will make it smaller to fit in your car. You can minimize its size by folding it or use telescoping. Most of the portable dog ramps fold into half lessening their length significantly. Contrary, when telescoping, ramps slide over each other.
Apart from folding and telescoping, the ramp should have a lock to securely put it place when extending it for use. This will provide safety and comfort to your dog.
  It’s non-slip
This is a crucial feature to consider since a slippery ramp will make it difficult for your dog to navigate through it as it gets on top or moves downwards. The risk of your dog slipping is reduced meaningfully when the ramp is non-slip.
There are ramps design and texture good enough to provide a good grip to the pet. Contrary, some need additional non-slip stickers for more efficiency. You may be provided with the stickers as you make a purchase, but you may be required to buy your own when the manufacturer fails to provide.
  Its weight
A dog ramp for a car needs to be lightweight as you’ll need to carry it around frequently. The weight that you can’t physically handle is thus not suitable for you. Although huge dogs need ramps with a higher capacity, there are ramps designed to hold the heavyweight comfortably, but materials used during construction are lightweight.
  Friendly on paws
The surface of a dog ramp doesn’t have to be necessarily rough for it to be non-slip. Having a sandpaper surface would provide a good grip, but would end up hurting the dog’s paws. You should always check the surface texture to ensure that it’s easy on paws. If you find the surface of your dog ramp slippery, you can consider purchasing non-slip stickers that are less rough and will make your dog more comfortable.
  Pet needs
You should always put your dog’s needs first when purchasing a ramp. After all, it’s meant to be used by the dog. Consider the category of your dog from those provided above depending on their needs.  For instance, a senior dog, one that is ailing or recovering from a surgical procedure are weak hence, a ramp with a gentler incline is suitable. Heavier dogs will require a stronger ramp to support their weight comfortably and effectively.
How Long Should A Dog Ramp Be?
Ramps that are meant for humans are at least 12 inches long for every 1 inch in height. This shouldn’t be the case for dogs since they are quadrupeds and have a lower center of gravity. This makes them better climbers naturally enhancing their ability to handle a steeper incline. Moreover, longer ramps can be climbed easily by dogs.
This is however not the case when a dog has an injury, is ailing or has aged. These groups of dogs will need a less inclined ramp for more safety and comfort. Generally, a dog ramp for a car with a height of 24 to 30 inches, should be 5 to 6 feet long.
Nevertheless, your pet’s size determines the best width for your ramp. Narrow ramps are effective for the narrow and toy breeds, while wide ramps are effective for medium to large breeds. The best width is one that is larger than the biggest measurement of your dog’s hips or shoulder.
How Do I Get My Dog Used to A Ramp?
Not all dogs resist using a dog ramp, some need a little coaching for them to understand the concept of climbing onto it. For those who resist using it, you should train them progressively and patiently to help them adjust easily. This will be a suitable way that you can get your dog used to a ramp. Follow the steps below to train your dog on using a ramp.
Lay the dog ramp flat on the ground and place an enticing item across it. The item will encourage your dog to cross it. You could repeat this step several times to ensure that the dog is used to the ramp’s texture.
You can also use your hand to signal and encourage your dog to walk across the ramp
After noting that your dog has grasped the concept of crossing the ramp when laid flat, you should repeat the same step but without an enticing item or a hand signal.
You can now gradually raise the dog ramp. This should happen for quite some time to ensure that your dog is adjusting to the new heights easily and comfortably.
After much patience and persistence, your dog will get used to the ramp and utilize it accordingly with less or no struggle.
Final Thought
With the above information, selecting, purchasing and using a dog ramp isn’t a difficult task. If you’re pet lover, you will enjoy the process of making your dog more comfortable using car ramps. Once you’re aware of your dog’s needs, your needs, and features that will satisfy those needs, then you can comfortably make a wise selection. You can check for more customer reviews to know their level of satisfaction with the product.

Knipex Plier-Wrench Review
My last tool review, infrequent as they are, was also on a Knipex product (Cobra pliers) and was posted at the end of last year.
Cobra pliers are fantastic for gripping all sorts of objects, except for those items where we do not wish to mar the surface, like nut and bolt heads, flats on spindles and other shafts, etc..
For loosening nuts and bolts, there are a variety of situations and a variety of tools which can do the job, for better or worse. If one has complete access to the fastener head, then a socket and ratchet/breaker bar are undoubtedly the best choice.
If the space just isn’t there to place the ratchet and socket, or the threaded portion of the bolt is so long you can’t use a socket, then the next tool of choice would be the ring end of a spanner.
Sometimes though, a ring end spanner cannot be placed as there is inadequate space above the nut to slip it into position, and one can only slip a tool in laterally, so one has to use the open end of the spanner.
This works fine, however if the fastener is in really tight, and/or has any previous damage, then the open end spanner can lead to unfortunate outcomes. When heavily loaded, the strain on the metal of the wrench end is enough to cause it to stretch open, weakening the purchase on the fastener, leading to rounding the nut corners.
There is of course the option of using an adjustable wrench, like any one of these I have in my set:
Adjustables are a slightly worse choice then the open end spanner, being a fatter tool and less able to get into tight spaces, and as they are even more prone to undergoing slight jaw openings, especially as a result of being placed under load and then taken off load in a cycle, however they offer the benefit of versatility which makes them a common choice in many people’s tool boxes.
An adjustable wrench is a go-to choice when you don’t have the capacity to take along a full socket set or wrench set, and for those times you come across fasteners with odd dimensions which do not correspond to your wrenches and sockets (like Whitworth for instance, or encountering Japanese JIS metric head standards when your tools are set up around DIN standards (for example, for an 8mm bolt, the bolt head is 13mm in DIN, and 12mm in JIS), then an adjustable wrench is certainly handy.
Adjustable wrenches are likely among the first tools many folks would buy, and are a likely tool to be found in the barebones toolboxes of folks that rarely if ever use tools, but have a few around for household use.
One lesser-known aspect to adjustable wrenches is that they are directional: the rotation of the tool is meant to be applied so that loads go into the fixed jaw of the tool, not the adjustable jaw, as this Japanese Nepros wrench makes clear with an etching on the tool handle:
But, as noted, for fasteners which are very tight, rusted in place, etc., the adjustable wrench tends to produce nut rounding, given that there is some play in the system and so, for those with options, is not typically the first tool one reaches for when faced with a recalcitrant fastener, and indeed, are hardly suited for the role of ‘last resort’ either.
The Knipex pliers wrench is an improvement upon an adjustable wrench, as it incorporates the function of pliers, i.e., the ability to apply squeezing force to the fastener head, it does not therefore suffer from the same weakness as the adjustable wrench.
youtube
I obtained my first pliers wrench last, the ‘XL’ or 400mm version with standard grip, for Christmas last year. Then, not too long afterward, through my connection with KC Tool, obtained a set of two, based on an arrangement whereby I would test them out for an extended period and then write a review on this blog. Full disclosure: if you buy a Knipex plier wrench through one of the links provided on this page, any other German hand tool via the KC Tool banner on the right of the page, I will receive a modest percentage of the sale. Any proceeds in my direction will be plowed back into other purchases of KC Tools. It’s a closed loop.
So, that’s been 8 months now or thereabouts since I have had the plier wrenches on hand, and I have had ample opportunities to use the various sizes of pliers wrench for a myriad of tasks. These tools have earned a permanent place in my tool set, and my adjustable wrenches are now in the discard pile.
I have found the pliers wrench useful in a variety of situations, from removing water meters, crimping small areas of sheet metal, to daily use a wrench on my milling machine to place and remove hold-downs and other fixtures. I have not done any tile work with them (they would be great for snapping off small portions of tile), so I have something to look forward to in that regard.
Here, I’m using the 250mm size plier-wrench to install a threaded stud in to the Wadkin table saw sliding table support beam:
Like an adjustable wrench, the plier wrench has a direction of operation, and it is the same, putting the laid into the upper fixed jaw. with the pliers-wrench, this is also the direction to load the wrench so that the self-locking aspect comes into play. Once set, as you can see in the above picture, the wrench handle no longer need to be squeezed and can be operated, if you choose, with only a pulling grip.
To loosen, such as when I take the locknuts off of the installed stud, the wrench is flipped over, and again, once set, a clench-hold on the handles is not required:
I like the way the wrench operates, and, as the video shows above, one can repeatedly tighten or loosen a nut without having to slide the wrench off of the fastener.
Also, the plier function is great for all sorts of things, like delicately gripping small wooden parts to remove them from fixtures:
I’ve also used the wrench jaws on occasion to apply a little judicious ki-goroshi or grain pre-compressing, to some joinery, like lap joints.
The only aspect which takes a bit of practice to learn is that of setting the wrench opening, however this is really the same issue as with any slip-jaw sliding adjustable plier. you want to set the jaw opening so that the handles come together with about an inch (2.5cm) opening so that the self-locking function can work properly.
Overall, these tools are well made, beautiful to look at, built to last and offer advantages over conventional adjustable wrenches. Like the Knipex cobra wrench, the only wearing parts really are those associated to the push-button mechanism, and a repair kit is available for that. If you are one of those folks who has few tools, or needs to keep the number of tools in a go-to-site tool bag to a minimum, the plier-wrench is a great choice given its versatility. One plier wrench and one cobra wrench covers a lot of ground as it were.
For instance, my friend Matt, doing some maintenance work on the gate at the MFA in Boston, found the small plier wrench the tool which made it possible to open the garden water spigot, which otherwise requires a square female key:
The Knipex plier-wrench is a super versatile tool, and I highly recommend it. It’s just a matter of picking the right size for your application(s). I would imagine the most ‘all-around’ size is likely to be the 250mm model or the 180mm model. Having three size in the tool box works for my needs, though I am tempted to add the smallest size, the 125mm model, as I think that will also prove useful at times. For those that would like a cushioned grip, there are cushion grip versions of all the models as far as I know, and for those that anticipate working on electrical devices with these wrenches, there are also models with 1000v. rated insulating grips. grips are even available with a choice between tethered and untethered. There’s even a version of the plier wrench in the 250mm size with a 15˚ bend in the handles to facilitate working on a fastener which is flat onto a surface. I think I will also be adding one of those to the set in the near-future as well.
Competitors to this product are out there, and I have not explored those alternatives. I imagine if the tool is German made, you will get a quality item that lasts for years, so I can mention a few alternates in the ‘all-around’ size that might be worth a look at:
NWS 250mm PowerMax pliers
Gedore 250mm JC Plier Wrench
Stahlwille PowerGRIP 253mm pliers wrench
Wiha Soft Grip Plier Wrench
You can save some money with the Wiha product, however note that it is manufactured in Vietnam, not Germany.

Can Scrapping the Iran Deal Be Priced In?
Stock futures and crude oil have both dropped in the past couple hours, in an opposite move with the dollar, while Iran’s rial is reportedly getting hammered ahead of Trump’s decision on the nuclear accord (what he’s previously called “the worst deal ever”) at 2pm.
The market had a puzzling response to Trump’s tweet on Monday about the timing of his decision on Iran, which swept the rug under the rally in crude, energy stocks and the overall tape. It’s not exactly clear how the knowledge of when this announcement will come to light implied that Trump was persuaded to come to some sort of an agreement, as the market’s reaction suggests. An announcement was expected this week anyway, given the deadline is just days away.
Evercore ISI’s Tom Cape said last night that based on their talks with contacts in Washington, the EU aimed to put together a “last minute deal” for Boris Johnson to present to Trump, but the tweet signals Trump and Bolton’s “intent to cut them off — hence the early announcement tomorrow.” In other words, crude and the market went the wrong way in the afternoon.
Perhaps it was just a classic sell-the-news reaction that was pushed forward by a few days. Regardless, energy traders are on watch until 2pm as things could get quite whippy with each incremental headline, report and tweet on whether this is a hard exit, a soft exit, or an exit at all.
Tech Leadership and Caterpillar’s Moment
Tech has resumed its market leadership ever since Apple’s better-than-feared report last week, with S5INFT up over 3% and NYFANG up more than 4% in that time frame vs the S&P 500 up small. Next big catalyst is Nvidia earnings on Thursday, which could spark a relief rally in the beaten-down semis space (SOX down >11% from its March peak), but the stock has already had a pretty sizable run up — two cautious sell-side notes out today from MKM and Susquehanna with the stock soaring ~10% in three days — plus any negative headline over China trade, especially in regards to antitrust regulation (Mofcom etc), would likely offset any sympathy move.
Industrials have been a weak link in this tape ever since Caterpillar waved the “high water mark” warning flag two weeks ago, where some sell-siders said the comment was misinterpreted as suggestive of a peak in the cycle. Emerson tried to throw cold water on that in their earnings call, but the damage was done — not to mention CAT’s market cap is more than double the size of EMR and it has a wider global reach. Regardless, every industrial portfolio manager will probably be listening carefully to CAT’s presentation at the Wells Fargo Industrials Conference at 1:55pm to see if their IR team aims to do any damage control, which could help the space get out of its rut.
Consumer staples have been a consistent underperformer since the beginning of earnings season, and yesterday was no different as the group was the weakest of all S&P groups (although SYY and TSN ended in the green post-results, interestingly enough). Both Dean Foods and US Foods reported beats this morning, but the big catalyst today will likely be Goldman Sachs Global Staples Forum with names ranging from Coca-Cola and Clorox to Estee Lauder and General Mills.
Notes From the Sell Side
The biggest calls so far…
Aside from the cautious calls ahead of Nvidia earnings mentioned above, there are some positive notes on Blue Apron after analysts toured the Linden facility (shares are up >20% in three days); RBC downgraded XL Group (very odd move in yesterday’s session along with another reinsurance deal stock, Validus), and Goldman made a bunch of changes to its conviction list, adding Northrop Grumman and Harris Corp. while removing Leidos and AGCO.
Goldman, in a Global Opportunity Asset Locator (GOAL) note, upgraded cash to overweight over the next three months to “reduce risk,” though remains pro-risk with bullish view on equities and commodities.

BlackBerry's latest smartphone will satisfy workaholics and BlackBerry fans, but no one else
The BlackBerry Motion is the latest device from TCL, the Chinese electronics giant that creates the products and then uses BlackBerry's brand to market them.
BlackBerry phones have historically had a hardware keyboard, which has remained a constant even in the era of all-touchscreen smartphones; recent BlackBerry phones included the Priv and the KeyONE.
The BlackBerry Motion is a great device for business people with productivity in mind, but just an okay phone for everyone else.
BlackBerry isn't a top player in the smartphone landscape anymore, and it hasn't been for quite some time.
However, unlike Nokia, it hasn't completely disappeared; it just maintained a retrenched, low-key profile, and kept making devices that some people chose either for security reasons, their need for a productivity-oriented device, the presence of a physical keyboard, or a combination of the above.
However, the most recent BlackBerry Motion rejects that, at least in part, as this is the company's first high-end Android device that doesn't feature a hardware keyboard at all. (It's not even hidden as it was in the Priv).
It's a phone that tries to earn its place in 2017's increasingly crowded sea of devices, focusing on what BlackBerry does best and improving features such as battery life and software customisability instead of trying to offer top-notch performance or gorgeous-looking, borderless displays.
Making the Motion a full-touchscreen device is a way of streamlining the product along the lines of virtually any other smartphone, but this is not a phone that wants to compete with the iPhones, Pixels, and Galaxys of the world. It still wants to be a BlackBerry, front and center — and if anyone knows that that's what they are going to find, chances are they will be happy with their purchase.
Nailing down the basics that matter (to BlackBerry users)...
The BlackBerry Motion is a no-frills handset that gets most of the basics just right, but overwhelmingly focuses on productivity and features that might be of interest to a business user, or a busy person in general.
I can say that just by pinpointing its absolute best feature: An astonishingly big, tablet-size battery (4000mAh), which was basically impossible for me to kill in one day.
An iPhone X or last year's Pixel XL, by comparison, always required to be topped up by the time I went to bed, unless I wanted my phone to die on me some time during the morning after.
Battery life on the Motion is so good that I simply forgot about it; and this is especially useful for those who plan to use the device extensively, travel, write loads of documents and the likes. The Motion is the kind of device you'd want to use for a lot of time; or at least feel comfortable doing so.
The other good things this phone has to offer are in certain details: The excellent keyboard with its smart predictions, the widgets incorporated into icons via a simple, nifty swipe, the numerous quick accesses to functions inside the calendar, email, and notes apps, and even outstanding call quality (the voice from the other end is almost unexpectedly clear and rich).
There is also a smart "convenience key" button, which lets you remap it to a number of customisable options for immediate, one-click access. I found it useful to take screenshots to quickly crop or scribble on, but the button's placement is terrible, as it sits right below the sleep/wake button and even after a week of use I kept confusing them.
Even worse is the fact that the convenience key has a special texture on it, which is usually reserved to distinguish the power button from the volume rocker, and that didn't help my muscle memory to adapt.
BlackBerry's universal search is also fantastic, as it scans through every angle of the phone to look for what you're trying to find; and I also love the idea of its centralised hub, where BlackBerry manages to keep everything organised in one place: Email, text messages, phone calls, calendar events, and even tweets are all under one roof.
And not just that: You have features such as rich text formatting, snoozing of notifications, and even a nice "conversation view" to display multiple messages more clearly, all inside the BlackBerry Hub.
The software overall has a somewhat steep learning curve because of its profound flexibility and customisation options, but this also brings an unmatched level of solidity for users that do master it. It's powerful, useful for the kind of users it aims to serve, and can indeed be smart, helpful, and rewarding.
As far as productivity goes, the BlackBerry Motion gets very little wrong.
...but failing to meaningfully please anyone else
The Motion clearly aims at this one particular audience: Those who need to have some sort of work computer inside their pocket. Or, well, current BlackBerry users, if you will. And, in my experience, the Motion's software is built to serve them well. But if I had to purchase the BlackBerry Motion for anything outside of that, its various shortcomings would inevitably make me look elsewhere.
Starting from its design, the BlackBerry Motion is as generic a phone as you can possibly get.
There's nothing exciting about it: It looks like yet another black slab with some metal here and there, and even its carbon fiber-like back doesn't impress, as it fails the in-hands feel test beyond the plastic it's actually made of.
The one good thing is that, at least, the phone is rated IP67 for water and dust resistance, so it should be more durable than average, but that's a kind of design element you can only appreciate in specific situations, not day-to-day use.
The bezels are just outright enormous, too; alongside the boxy shape, they contribute to make the phone feel gigantic, especially on the chin, where the home button and capacitive keys reside.
The button itself hides a fingerprint reader, but it is, annoyingly, a little too wonky, especially compared to the stiffer keys on the sides.
The capacitive keys are terrible as well; more often than not a slightly dirty, wet, or sweaty thumb wouldn't be recognised, and even when it did the vibration is weak and unpleasant. The front's coating is also particularly bothersome, as for some reason cleaning the screen was harder than usual, in my experience.
The 5.5-inch, 1080p display itself is fine, with good viewing angles and okay colors, but it falls a little flat when compared to anything higher-end smartphones offer — when using it side by side with an iPhone 8 Plus (which has the same size, resolution, and display technology), it's just unfair how much better Apple's smartphone is.
The camera is also acceptable at best; perfectly lit conditions will produce good results, but in most situations the Motion's rear sensor struggles to get past anything a high-end smartphone camera from two years ago would've handled just fine, with low-light being the predictably sorest spot.
Photos aren't bad, but the camera is far from the Motion's strongest asset. The best feature it has is probably the built-in scanner, which ties in with its productivity-oriented software.
The front-facing selfie shooter, on the other hand, does its job well, and the camera also offers slow-motion videos, up to 4K resolution at 30fps (frames-per-second).
Performance is also nothing to cheer for — the Snapdragon 625 processor handles BlackBerry's software without lag or hiccups, and the phone never froze or rebooted in my testing, but the Motion never feels like it's running the otherwise stock Android 7.1.2 like a true champ either.
In short: There's nothing necessarily bad about the BlackBerry Motion, whose overall experience outside hardcore productivity is okay — but so many other phones do the vast majority of things better, and, even if they're more expensive, still offer more value for their money.
This is the perfect phone for former BlackBerry users tired of dealing with a physical keyboard
The BlackBerry Motion is not a phone for everyone, and it's not even a good choice if your budget is the £399 TCL — The Chinese company behind the newer BlackBerry-branded devices — asks for.
The BlackBerry Motion's strengths all lie within its insanely good battery life, as well as the numerous little software tweaks that make productivity task-completing much more powerful than on an average smartphone, and usefully customisable to one's preferences.
If you were happy with the company's previous devices, like the KeyONE, chances are you'll like the Motion, too, so long as you don't have a problem with a pane of glass taking the place of BlackBerry's marquee physical keyboard.
For all other users, just £50 more can get a OnePlus 5T in your hands, and you can rest assured that the overall experience will be much, much better.
