World's Saddest Breakfast Club: Fun Facts

The opening line is a result of me angsting to @batmoniker about how I couldn't figure out how to start my fic, and her jokingly being like "I got you, bro. Ready? 'It was a dark and stormy night'" and then me just being stubborn and committing to the bit.

The story started with a vague idea of "everyone in the kitchen at 3am for different reasons and Jason channeling his inner short order cook." All I knew going in was the order I wanted people to appear, what was wrong with them (sick, hurt, insomnia, etc) and what food Jason would be making for them. Everything else I made up as I went.

If I could go back and change one thing about this fic, I'd reduce how long Jason was kidnapped to like, 6-8 days, max. 16 days seemed funny when I wrote it, but in hindsight, I feel like he'd be a little more fucked up in the story if he were really escaping from that many days of captivity lmao

I headcanon Dick as the kind of person who straight-up forgets to eat when he's preoccupied, and Jason as the kind of person who cannot FATHOM this concept. Jason absolutely will miss a meal if the situation calls for it, don't get me wrong, but he's aware the entire time he's doing it and it makes him super antsy. (This once turned into A Thing™ when Jason was like, 13 years old and staying with Dick for the weekend for some brotherly bonding and Dick forgot about lunch and by 5pm, Jason maybe sorta kinda had a minor panic attack about it. Dick was a lot more mindful of that moving forward)

Bruce's favorite food being lobster thermidor is a reference to the Lego Batman movie

I wrote this whole fic with Julia Child's recipe pulled up in one tab and my google doc in the other

At some point I realized that since I started with fresh lobsters, I was going to have to write Jason killing them, and it derailed me so hard that the fic nearly became about meatloaf instead. (Never mind the fact that Jason canonically kills human beings — that's totally fine. I just draw the line at him killing lobsters 😰)

(in the end I just kinda glossed over it and made sure they were already cooked before Damian appeared so I wouldn't have to address it 😬)

Dick's reoccurring shoulder injury is a reference to the DCAU where I swear that man has dislocated his shoulder/injured his arm at least 4x

The line about Tim being allergic/throwing up when he eats eggs was inspired by a line in chap 11 of @goldkirk's fic Hymn, which I've reread about 37x

Jason is correct— grits are fucking delicious and definitely not baby food.

My favorite line is "Okay there’s self-sacrificial bullshit, and then there’s whatever the fresh hell that is."

The idea for Cass being a big meat-eater comes from a comic panel where Steph offers her a plate of rice and beans and Cass says she needs meat and starts mischievously eying Steph's hamster. Can't find the panel to save my life, but I promise it's out there.

EDIT: finally found it!

Steph's nickname of "Zombie Boy" for Jason is borrowed from @audreycritter's Cor Et Cerebrum series (which is a fucking masterpiece, btw)

This fic was gonna be called "Creatures of the Night" until batmoniker said Steph's line made for a better title

Several people have asked me whether Jason was really cooking Bruce's lobster to spite him, or if he was actually intending to make it for him all along. The answer is... both? Like Jason's kind of an unreliable narrator in that he's trying to convince himself that he's just doing what he's doing to be a little shithead when deep down it's all stemming from his need to take care of his family, you know? Like he'll never admit it, but that's where his heart is at.

To everyone who's asked for a part 2 where the family finds out Jason was kidnapped, I'm gonna be honest: the main reason I don't think I'm ever going to write that scene is because I can't come up with a good enough joke for him to make to accidentally out himself 💀

a BUNCH of Garu/Karu meta: fashion, H scenes, scars, trauma, who knows Karu, sexuality, part 1

Over the past couple days, i wrote like 398429347 garu/karu mini meta and i dont want to flood the tag each time, so here's a bunch of them! I have a feeling I'll have more brainrot about them.... so I'm making this a multipart series.

BIG disclaimer that i did not play every event nor unlocked every intimacy room, so I am probably lacking some major lore information. If anyone has opened more stories, or knows answers to my questions, or has correct information, or other thoughts in general, please let me know!

A) Karu's H scene character development:

After Eiden fucks Garu in Ch 7: hates it

Garu is very horny & submissive and really likes anal. 7 out of 8 scenes include penetrative anal sex, whether its fingering or Eiden's cock. Interestingly, neither of them have done the infamous missionary pose- its just some kind of riding or doggy. He doesn't seem to have any physical kinks yet (aside from anal), but he's into being submissive, serving his master, praise, and definitely likes sex- so I think he'd be into trying BDSM if eiden brought it up.

The 3 times we hear Karu talk/think about sex himself, aside from wanting to top & having a major ego... i mean praise kink- MG when he pushes Garu away saying he wants to feel good, EG when he vaguely says he wants to feel good, and BS where he thinks he'd like to be fucked but denies it when replying to Eiden. Karu is starting to trust Eiden now and accept that he (gasp!) might like being fucked. While this is, yay! character development!, i'm ever so miiiildly disappointed bc I thought Garu/Karu had perfect potential to be a switch. Karu would probably suck as a top, but Dante also sucked at sex in the beginning & he's gone through character development now. (Btw, I'd just like to say that Karu is a different kind of tsundere than Edmond is. Karu has explicitly stated he wants to top multiple times. Edmond is just wishywashy and uncertain about le horny.) However, in BS, there's also a vague conversation that Karu & Garu have- I'm not sure if the translation is just skirting around the specifics, but Garu assumes Karu doesn't like some of the "other things" about being a model and says "Don't you hate those things?" Those things either mean humans in general, specifically interacting with humans, or being sexy (or all 3). So while Karu wishes he could top, is starting to accept that he also likes being fucked, he is not as ridiculously horny as Garu is. Going as far as to say Karu might be somewhere on the ace spectrum is a bit far, but I can see someone making the case for it. (Asexual/ace spectrum people can still have sex for a variety of reasons).

C) Garu & Karu's Fashion

Of our yokai love insterests- kuya cares about his appearance, yakumo doesn't have strong preferences but seems to value modesty so he knows what he's comfortable with, (if quincy counts as yokai, he probably DGAF). and then we have garu/karu.

we don't know how they picked/got their SR/R/N clothing, but we can assume its something garu & his gramps slapped together in the Dead Zone (and for some reason Garu still wears it even after moving into Aster's mansion lol). (Btw Karu did prank people by stripping them, so i wonder if what's they're wearing could've also been stolen?) As for all his other SSR outfits- all of them are given by someone else and the Howling Cyclone "outfit" was some bandages, a coat, & a pumpkin hat that yakumo/eiden/garu found on the ground.

therefore i am very very curious that, if given the choice, what would garu & karu pick for themselves? cause i feel like they would have different fashion preferences.

and then i realized- growing up mostly isolated in the harsh Dead Zone- garu/karu's never had the time to even think about fashion, so neither of them probably care nor have any shame. what we can deduce though, is that they both have praise kinks and if someone compliments them in some way, then they definitely like it, regardless of what the outfit actually is. so i'm gonna try to figure out what their fashion preferences might be once they get more comfortable with clothing.

honestly, i think garu likes revealing clothing now. the only thing we know him to have picked out, the very revealing placements of the Howling Cyclone bandages and posssibly the jockstrap in Binary Star. (In room 4, Garu says that he & Karu(!) prepared "an ultimate skill for Master" and then the camera zooms in on his crotch. Like if thats not saying Garu picked his jockstrap, idk what it means.) I also think this was learned, because in Master's Gift, Garu was still kind of clueless on how sexy he looked and now he actively seeks out sexy garments. back to HC- garu strips everything to wear just the bandages & coat. He doesn't keep his underwear or look for pants or a shirt, which means he either wasn't socially aware, had no shame, or liked how revealing it was. Also, the jockstrap was a secret present for Eiden not for the public.

Karu is a bit harder since he seems to just go along with whatever (including whatever garu wants). and even in BS when karu is finally getting some spotlight on his preferences, he only cares about food & conquering/enchanting people. anyone got ideas?

D) Who knows that Karu exists?

I'm going through the Binary Starlight Garu rooms and i realized that Karu is interacting with random townspeople and no one seems to have any issue or confusion about that.

And then I realized, that after Garu meets everyone except Dante (and Rei) in ch8, he goes to Aster's mansion and has very little screen time until ch 13, and we don't really know who Garu is hanging out with besides Aster's maids and clan members. (We don't know when the side events are taking place in the timeline).

Nonhuman/yokai/wolf reactions to Karu's existence can possibly be excused, since they're probably used to unusual circumstances. i'm gonna excuse the clan members & aster's maids cause they have daily exposure to Garu&Karu. i'll assume that the clan members & aster caught up dante with who garu was off screen and, well, now we know Rei/Karu/Garu might have some HistoryTM.

but what about random townspeople? although garu can be hyper & extroverted, he usually introduces himself as just "Hi! I'm Garu!", not Hi! I'm Garu and sometimes I switch into Karu." In summer fest, garu/karu's just there as support so he's not really making himself known to a lot of people. And in Eerie escapade, i highly doubt he was having interpersonal conversations while battling monsters in the pampo village that they teleported to. But in the BS intimacy rooms, the modeling people/store owners are having actual conversations knowing Karu's name. In fact, at the end, it seems like Karu is doing most of the modeling but when its an aspect of modeling that Karu doesn't like, Garu takes over. Does this mean that garu is pretending to be Karu, or that everyone knows its the two of them? This will be interesting…. Bonus, for those who believe that Karu's eyes are actually blue and the yellow is only for the player, i think the store owners/fans/townspeople would point out if karu's eyes suddenly changed to blue!

E) Garu&Karu's sexualities

Ok so its hard to tell since klein (and saia!) doesn't have the same concept of sexuality that earth does.

that said, the yokai also have the bonus of not being human and them being based off some animal characteristics, of which foxes, snakes, & wolves also all display homosexual behaviors. so this will be interesting! i am not a scientist, this is just based off le googles.

Foxes- a lot of these species have sex and pair with male & female foxes.

Snakes- also a lot of homosexual partners/pairings and in fact some species can reproduce asexually

Wolves- alpha male wolves have 1 alpha female mate for life but may mate with other males if they're in heat, otherwise they live in a pack

So what about Garu & Karu? Consistently, Garu has said he only wants Eiden to fuck him. So we can assume that sexually, Garu is uh master-sexual, regardless of what gender that master is. However, because he is still a wolf yokai, I do believe that he views the clan members as his pack to still share both platonic and intimate experiences. So Garu would have no problems with Eiden telling him to seduce Edmond or something. In summary- Garu is unknown leaning towards whoever he considers his alpha wolf and thinks in pack mentality, aka poly. Also, he's 100% a sub.

Karu is, once again, more complicated. He said he doesn't only belong to Eiden and calls Kuya, Kuya-sama (translated to Master Kuya) sometimes. (In master's gift, he called Kuya "wily fox" lol. I think nowadays, Kuya and Yakumo are the only one he calls by their actual names, not something like "the knight" or "human" or "the priest" or "the vampire"). Karu also has the added issue where he is poorly socialized & traumatized as HECK and trauma sure messes up your perception of relationships. In my earlier mini-meta analyzing Garu/Karu's H scenes, I said someone could argue that Karu is aromantic or demiromantic or grey-ace.

Luckily, as an aromantic sexual person with trauma, i have some experience in this realm! Unfortunately, I'm not a writer and Karu isn't a real person- so a) I don't know the intentions so we don't know if his experiences are shaped by trauma or his actual sexuality and b) since he's not real, he can be open to interpretation! But let's assume Karu's base sexuality when not shaped by trauma. His horniness level is nowhere near Garu's overwhelming horniness, and while he's not shy to sex, he needs multiple experiences before gradually warming up to the idea of sex. Garu is also clearly attracted to Eiden as a person, whereas Karu is still in denial but also unwilling to commit himself to Eiden (but does want to hang on to Eiden- see the whole human slave thing). Garu seems knowledgeable in sexiness, but Karu just seems clueless about it. He also does not seem to know about human romantic attraction general. In summary.... I don't have a good conclusion for Karu at all. But someone can use these arguments to prove that Karu might be demisexual/demiromantic or on the aro/ace spectrum.

F) Garu's throat scar

(Quick note: Did Olivine say that essence can heal scars?)

So I noticed that even though Garu casually displays his other scars, he consistently covers up his throat scar in event + SR outfits. (We can only see it in Forgotten Fruit H scenes). Although Misty Vale implies that the scars could be from the Council experimentation, the other scars also make sense for Dead Zone injuries considering Garu has no armor or skin protection. He also doesn't seem concerned about covering them or healing them (if they can be healed? Someone correct me about the above statement), but his throat scar is consistently covered.

If the events seem to take place after the main gemstone storyline. The fact that none of his (old) scars are healed means:

-Garu probably didn't learn how to heal scars in the dead zone and got used to them & his Gramps was more survivalist- he either thought Garu would have a better chance surviving when looking tough & scarred up or just didn't care about appearances. And even if he learned now/after the Main Plot, in Misty Vale, Garu doesn't care seem to care about covering up all his body scars.

-Except Garu (or at least all his clothing givers lol) does want to cover up his throat scar though. Heck, garu even covered up his neck by himself when wrapping himself with bandages. If he wanted to hide it consistently, I'm sure Olivine has ways to heal it. However, this means that scar cannot be healed, so they cover it up instead.

Yeah that's all I got with this.

WARNING: This section talks about trauma. I am NOT a licensed psychiatrist or have personal experience with DID. This is only based off internet research, which may or may not be reliable.

X) Garu/Karu & Rei's Trauma

There's a lot of traumatized characters in nu carnival, but i think these 2 take the cake for the amount of physical violence and/or abuse done against them whilst lacking in power*. By that, i mean while the rest of the cast all have their traumas, they have had moments of empowerment in the past, currently have moments of empowerment, they had some empowerment during whatever caused their trauma (or were forced to cause other people's traumas therefore messing them up significantly too), or are literally in positions of power with ways to control their life circumstances on their own terms. For example, Blade, Kuya, Dante, Yakumo, and Aster had awful things happen to them or were horribly manipulated by others, but Blade, Kuya, and Dante are powerful fighters that have control over their autonomy present-day, meanwhile Yakumo & Aster are in a much healthier relationship with Eiden and have confidence in their new support network. (Blade and Kuya in particular also caused a LOT other people a lot of harm so that gets a bit complicated).

Rei & garu on the other hand, have had their bodies horrendously violated, are still actively dealing with it and, in my opinion, lack significant empowerment to control their autonomy. also, none of their traumas have actually been dealt with yet, heck we barely know exactly what happened.

and their trauma responses & coping mechanisms are completely different. garu does everything he can to protect himself (DID, amnesia, garu tries to be optimistic, karu is focused on self preservation). rei does everything he can to aggravate it (unhealthy coping mechanisms, everything is transactional & extremely goal oriented, kind of apathetic, and self destructive).

In rusted nation, rei definitely remembers what's happened to him, but it looks like he sugarcoated it amidst bickering with kuya, while Eiden & blade "escaped" so eiden didn't hear it. kuya is (overly) great at keeping secrets, so eiden will probably never find out from kuya what happened to rei. for rei's trauma, its kinda obvious that, that is what's going to be his character development.

as for garu, its harder to tell. i really want to know what'll happen when they get his memory back. based off misty vale & his EG rooms, Garu doesn't seem to be actively trying to recover his memories (heck his only reactions in ch 13 are fainting or switching to Karu). that said, i'd like to *think* that garu will accept his memories based off his optimistic response in EG. buuut i think his world might also fall apart. Karu seems to remember that humans "took advantage" of him somehow and he's on friendly terms with Rei, so it's possible Rei rescued/escaped with Karu. would Garu get mad at karu for not telling him or not protecting him enough? would Karu get mad at garu for being forced to front during all the experiments? if it turns out Rei was an active part of experimenting on Karu/Garu, Karu seems to understand him, but would Garu get pissed at them or scared of them?

also, i just wanna touch on something even darker. one of my theories a long time ago was that garu might've also been r*ped bc karu has SUCh a hangup about bottoming and being taken advantage of. In fact, Eiden calls Karu out on it during EB rooms, but Karu ignores the question. Anyways i thought, oh NU Carnival is such a cheerful game that it'll never go there. And then BOOM its confirmed in Rusted Nation that the devs are willing to go there. there's also the sex automaton in blade's memories. during that conversation, the researcher says Blade's design "does not have the functions for sex", which means he either didn't have a penis or it didn't function that way it does present-day. but because Blade can have sex now with a very human-like penis & cum, that makes me wonder if Blade was eventually upgraded (especially considering the noble that funded the research) and then tested out as a sexbot with the intentions of using sex to bait for assassinations.

Jockposting :) Lifting progress under the cut 💪

the tldr is that i a couple of months I put 20kg on my deadlift, 15kg on my squat, and I am SO close to benching 35kg for reps I can taste it. If I was in a frame of mind to optimise for recovery and nutrition I'd be unstoppable but as it is I'm just really feelin' myself

I'm on week 9 of GZCLP, a reddit-bro sorta program that's IME extremely effective. Once again, I maintain that reddit is phenomenal for solid fitness knowledge

It's a linear progression program, meaning that you increase the weight on the bar week by week, and it's ideal for novices who're still in the "beginner's gain" stage of weightlifting. It's also great if you're returning to structured programming lifting after a break (me!) but I probably won't keep at it after the first 12-week cycle is over, there's only so much linear increase I can aspire to.

Programming: GZCLP is 4x week, built around big compound lifts in the "strength" range (low reps, higher weights). They're complemented by a medium-rage amount of reps of a different compound lift than the one you're practising that day. So basically, you do big lifts twice a week, but at a different weight/range (called Tier 1 and Tier 2 to tell them apart). Every session also includes isolation exercises in the hypertrophy range, starting at 3x15+.

Jargon: that + symbol means that the last set is meant to be "as many reps as possible" or AMRAP. So if I'm doing 3x5+ squats, I'd do 5 reps for my first and second set, then try to aim for 6 or 7 in my last set.

Progression: You add weight every week to each compound lift; if you fail, the rep scheme changes keeping the volume the same.

T1 (main lifts) go from 3x5+ >>> 4x4+ >>> 5x3+

T2 (medium range reps for compound lifts) start at 3x10 >>> 3x8 >>> 3x6

T3 (back work and accessories) are 3x15+, only progressing when the AMRAP set gets to 25.

The T2 lifts especially are brutal. Because they go up every week but the amount of volume is A Lot. Doing sets of 10 reps with heavy-ish squats or deadlifts is extremely demanding.

Sessions! Basically, each week looks like this

Day 1: Squats (T1) + Bench press (T2) + Back work and leg accessories (T3)

Day 2: Overhead barbell press (T1) + Deadlift (T2) + Back work and upper body accessories (T3)

Day 3: Bench press (T1) + Squats (T2) + Back Work and upper body and core accessories (T3)

Day 4: Deadlift (T1) + Overhead bar press (T2) + Hip thrusts (T2) + Back work and core accessories (T3)

I start every session with dynamic stretching AND core engagement exercises (deadbug, planks, renegade row, suitcase carries) and usually end with an abs + kettlebell swing circuit. KB swings are SUPER FUN, btw. I do them every minute on the minute with a timer, starting with 5 swings then working my way up to 12-15 reps on the minute before I go up in weight. Currently I'm using a20kg (44 lbs) kettlebell.

The whole point of this post was to blather about my lifting numbers so here we go. I started 9 weeks ago a bit conservatively, which imo is better than starting too heavy and going up too fast. I've failed every lift except squats, and that's only because I'm not consistently breaking parallel like I want to — a goal for my next training cycle is to work on lower body flexibility, go lighter on squats and with better form. This cycle is mainly to get more weight on that bar.

Squat

T1: 37.5kg >>> 52.5kg (116 lbs) for 3 sets of 5 reps

T2: 32.5kg to 43.5kg (96lbs) for sets of 10 reps

Overhead press

I failed multiple times here! Why is it so hard to build stronk shoulders, I ask you

T1: 17kg to 22.5kg (50 lbs) for 4 sets of 4 reps

T2: 12kg to 18kg (40 lbs) for sets of 6 reps

Bench Press

Veeeery proud of how this one is going

T1: 25kg to 33.5kg (74 lbs) for 5 sets of 3 reps

T2: 20 kg to 30kg (66 lbs) for 3 sets of 8 reps. Veeery proud of my progress on this one.

Deadlift

Bit frustrated because DLs used to be my strongest lift and I feel like I should be further ahead but that posterior chain needs nurturing

T1: 43kg to 62.5 (134 lbs) for 5 sets of 3 reps

T2: 33kg to 53.5 (118) for 3 sets of 10 reps

What's next?

3 more weeks of GZCLP then we shall see! I'm thinking an intermediate bench program + less volume on lower-body lifts, especially since I'm going to get more serious about half marathon training next month.

OOC: I did! still am, as a matter of fact! I'm currently playing through refined gold, a romhack of heartgold which supposedly did not change much beyond allowing some pokemon (horsea, murkrow) to be acquired sooner but also I didn't read the documentation as closely as I should have and only discovered that it buffed major story trainers (gym leaders, silver, team rocket, pokemon league) once I got to falkner and he had a hoothoot.

I'm a bit of a pokemon veteran, or at least I'd like to think so... so a "minimal buffs" romhack was honestly a reasonable amount of challenge. I miss not having to deal with hms though. and tms being reusable. and the party-wide exp share. do you realize how much time I spent grinding in victory road and lance STILL clapped my ass.

anyway, let's see what I can dig up...

most recent screenshot: that fucking gyarados was the bane of my existence because I don't have any electric-type moves and SOMEONE had the bright idea to give it DRAGON DANCE. which it used. four times.

a choice scarf is not enough to outspeed a 4x dragon dance gyarados. in-character, maria won by the skin of her teeth. out of character, oh goD that took me like three tries because of the dragon dance incident. more like two because I got some really terrible rng on the second try and went "fuck this" like ten seconds in, but still.

anyway I unfortunately did not think to get a screenshot of the hall of fame and I am not fighting lance again specifically for that screenshot, sorry guys, I'm not fucking with that gyarados aGAIN

sassy lost child when did you play ace attorney. (I was. NOT PREPARED for the silver fight. it took me four solid tries to beat him. which was part of my motivation for going "y'know what he can have this win in the blog canon.")

I did, out of character, spend like a week playing voltorb flip to get an ice beam tm for evelyn. saw some REALLY weird rows such as this one with 5 voltorbs and no points, and several rows with a lot of points and no voltorbs. I think the highest I got was like... level 7/8. once. (technically could have cheated using savestates and gotten through it much faster but I feel like maria would be disappointed in me for that one.)

I spent a bunch of time in the pokeathlon to get a fire stone for molotov (since I couldn't find it in the kimono girls' closet ingame) and. y'all may not know this. but the pokeathlon SUCKS ASS to play on an emulator. in-character I think maria would be best at the skill course due to her bloodborne weapon scaling REALLY WELL with a stat called skill. out of character that was the worst one to do on an emulator by far, I eventually managed to eke out enough victories on the jump course to get that fire stone and I don't plan on going back.

(youngster joey's rat later got named gehrman because 1) I thought it would be hilarious 2) a bit of a nod to the rat that I wouldn't be able to beat the game without, because hms suck and I hate them.)

one of the QOL things that this particular romhack does is allow trade evos to evolve through different requirements. haunter's, for example, is learning shadow ball. which it does naturally at level 36.

I mean I live in London and visit Hampstead as my friends live close ish (Hendon) and one lives Finchley basically Hampstead so I meet them there almost 2/3 times a week. One has a job there in a cafe and none of us have ever met or seen Harry so I don’t know how some people claim to see him up to 4x a week… my friend has seen Lewis Capaldi there and that’s it for celebs even if a lot live there which they do. Hampstead is beautiful especially in warmer months like one of the nicest places to go (Im an anon from the other day that mentioned Lewis btw)

Copasetic Bodybuilding Open Letter?

We have to look at the three training types that I know-of.

We have size, strength, and stamina. The combinations exist, obviously. What I basically know is:

My bodybuilding is for working on size, or was anyway, my veins have come to the surface, and while that's not inherently strange to gym rats, it's time for my cardio... that for example is doing 12 reps at 20lbs, then 30, ...60, etc, when I reach that limit, I might do targeted/spot training, hitting 60lbs x12 till I'm toast. Where efficacy loses to diminishing returns or loses out to recovery time. Unless you're in your garage, at work. IDK. The powerlifter has worked his way up to incredible weight, ie 750 let's say, at 4x reps, but isn't going running for 2hrs. The runner isn't squatting 200lbs, but 20, but can do that all day. Google: Twitch fibers. And surely some combinations exist, again like training camp, work, etc.

So there's this chasing the pump, the mind-muscle connection each rep that starts at volume, but isn't exclusive, inherent to the muscle maturation. Legs of steel, pythons for arms. The hypertrophy effectively pumps water, blood, and sweat into muscles, but takes a lot of energy, and fuel/nutrients. At first, work on strength in small doses, it's the foundation of powerlifters, bodybuilders, and athletes. (Bodybuilding is a sport btw.) Muscle maturity, muscle memory, instinctual contraction/protraction (pull, push) comes later.

There it becomes another instinct to tame, the ego inflates, the vanity crushes self-confidence, these are the mentioned gym rats. And there's something beneficial to cardio and prolonging the heart's lifespan.

You, oneself even, like healthy people. That's not a vanity of youth, it's that flippant and whimsical singleing mindset that objects to varying types of health. You can track your diet with a calorie counter app, without skipping meals, and peel off the fat, to show your muscles. You can do progressive (weight increases each set) overload for hypertrophy, you can prog. ov. one heavy weight at fewer reps and increase the weight each week, or you can run a little farther than you did yesterday. Like you were playing a game, then adolesence came, and it was more like adult-essence, sitting around, learning shit in general education instead of focusing on your major/vocational training. What you put into your actions will determine the results, yeah?

Mr Olympia was pumping iron backstage, AT the competition, so I based my hypertrophy training on flexing, even without the phone camera. Mind = blown. Yet, if someone asks me to hit my 1RM, I have to warm up to it, visualisation and practice are ideal. (and I have to start cardio, endurance, patience, because reasons.) Get a job, get healthy, then see what you need for work.

Bodybuilders can lose waterweight, in a week. If they have a high protein diet, when their muscles look for energy and water, they'll undergo catabolism, consuming the muscles for protein for the rest of the muscles, essentially shrinking. But the ego will suffer if you think size is more important than health, and the mind will panick if you don't know muscle maturity/experience can build back quickly, with rest, nutrition, proper form/movements.

Let me be really mean - you don't want to be on the 600lb people tv show, and running to the gym to save your life. Calorie counter app diets, google/yt video instructions. Mind muscle connection: experience the rep, or remember the rep, the advice crossword is hazy af for now.

You're doing this because it's expected, and tbh the roles have balanced a little, everyone looks the same now.

POSING: Dudes, that selfie is better if you activate your abs first, you're young, simple as an arm curl is still 1 rep, pump up, then take your shots. Chicks, try dancing to some metal, I personally like Deftones (maybe Rx Queen), but it's your reflection.

I heard terror attack 3x babes. Not sure why the governor of NY is coming out to say otherwise.

Also, I don’t believe in coincidences. The US holiday is today (Happy Thanksgiving btw) and this “freak accident” just happened to occur one day before AND at the US and Canadian border? Black Friday is a HUGE shopping day where both Canadians and Americans buy tons of goods and if you’ve been to the Rainbow Bridge like I have frequently, you’ll know how many thousands of people cross on both holidays in the US and Canada. My family and I use to go back and forth to NYC at least 4x a year when our dollar was good 😂 this is the perfect spot for an attack to send a message to both our close countries.

Please, be honest with the people. We deserve the truth.

This to me would constitute an act of war. A war some so desperately want to have with us. And I applaud every effort to avoid hostilities and being dragged into a war based on envy on behalf of countries who will never prosper but do not mislead the people.

I do understand waiting for the truth to be revealed which will take time but these wicked people and nations are under the judgement of God. We are Canadians and you are Americans, we do not stand with or for evil. Stand up for what is right my loves.

Based on the dream, God told us there would be an attack IN NEW YORK.

Also, I keep hearing “Border Patrol Agent” and I also heard “Interference”.

Y'all I went on an emotional rollercoaster in .05 second while skimming the HEB grocery app.

Apparently rendered bacon grease a thing you can buy at the grocery store in Texas. Now, being born and raised in Texas, bacon fat is definitely taste and I grew up having bacon fat fried eggs and in things like say green beans. Which...to be fair to my mother does make them taste better.

But the way I reoiled in revulsion when I saw it on the app only to turn around half a second later like that chick in that one meme and go "Well that would probably make frying eggs up pretty tasty and I don't have to bother with the nastiness of dealing with bacon grease hanging around or worrying if it's gone rancid etc so this does take the guess work off out of it."

Then I wondered just what the hell kind of fat level would this have and nearly had a heart attack by proxy by the nutritional label. (Something BTW I rarely look at because I am bad at being a responsible adult)

THAT IS ABSOLUTE INSANITY.

Versus the I can't believe it's not butter which I also am looking at. It's the same serving side. 4x the calories and fat.

Even for my southern fried ass, that is too much. Though to be fair real butter is just as bad as this bacon grease save it’s half the calories at 60cal per 1tbsp serving. Still…holy shit

Espio turned invisible and snuck around to try to hit Chaos Gengar from the back, but Gengar saw through his invisibility and launched a Shadow Ball at him. Silver saw the ethereal projectile being thrown at their friend and tried to redirect it back to Gengar, but Gengar hit them with a surprise Shadow Ball to the chest.

They got flung back a few feet and ghostly cyan blood dripped from their mouth. They spat some blood out and tried to hold Chaos Gengar down with their psychokinesis, but Gengar used Hypnosis, which caused Silver to fall asleep.

"Silver, stay awake!" Espio tried to grab them, but they were incorporeal. He searched his arsenal of items and found a bit of salt. He sprinkled a bit onto the sleeping hedgehog, who woke up and yelped.

"Ow!" Silver got up and threw a psychic blade at Gengar, which made contact and was super effective. "Espio! Gengar's not a true ghost, only a Ghost-Type! Regular attacks can hit it!"

Espio threw his ninja stars at Chaos Gengar, which made contact and fell into the sewage. Gengar screamed and got angry. It aimed a Sludge Bomb at Espio, who dodged with ease– right into a Shadow Ball. He shrugged it off much easier than Silver, but he didn't have his stars. Luckily, Silver, who was a ghost and didn't have to worry about getting sick from the sewage, offered to get them. Meanwhile, he sliced at Gengar with his dagger.

Silver parted the sludge like Moses and spotted the ninja stars, but Chaos Gengar hit them with a Hex, which made them drop them and the sewage. Gengar laughed evilly at irs assumed victory. They quickly realized that Gengar, being a Poison-Type, had amplified the toxicity of the sludge as they felt it phase through them. They grabbed the stars, and after a minute, got out.

"Silver?" Espio called out. Said hedgehog emerged with a faint sickly purple hue on their ghostly body. They held the ninja stars in a corporeal hand.

"Here..." They coughed out. Espio took the stars and went invisible again.

Silver tried to hold Chaos Gengar, but their psychokinetic powers had noticeably weakened. "Great... I'm poisoned..."

Espio gasped. "Wait, really? I guess it makes sense, since Gengar's a Poison-Type. You can heal it, since you're a ghost, right?"

Silver felt their strength diminish a bit. "Don't think so... Maybe if we defeat Gengar it will go away." They launched a weaker psychic blade at Gengar, and Espio slashed it in rapid succession with his dagger.

"Whew, that's exhausting..." Silver muttered, sounding out of breath. They got hit by a Shadow Ball and coughed violently for a few seconds.

Espio looked at the hedgehog, then at Chaos Gengar. "It's now or never!" He threw a rapid fire of ninja stars again, then followed up with an invisible speed slice. Silver, a bit more weakened, used a psychic blade, and Gengar was defeated, but the hedgehog looked much worse.

"Ugh, that took a lot..." Silver groaned. They felt lightheaded and dizzy.

Espio noticed the Chaos Emerald floating in the center of the crossroads and grabbed it, then held it to Silver. "O Great Emerald, Please restore Silver." The Emerald started glowing, and Silver's sickly purple hue went away. They felt much more energetic and less lightheaded.

"Thanks, bud. I owe you a million."

"Now that that's dealt with, let's get some fresh air." Espio showed a small smile and the two went back to Sonic's.

trying to juggle my like phase-2 possible boyfriend (like not official but strong possibility of going in that direction), the first in in >4 years and as wordy, intense, diehard romantic a person as i am; my first shot at a relatively high-impact job (for the moment) (i still ain't shit) (also have not yet been officially hired); this call i just had where an ai researcher said it is like "plausible" (between possible and certain) that AI is going to be existentially, paradigm-altering-ly powerful in ~30 or so years and it's up to us now to like, direct it with policy (btw nobody even knows how AI works so if you want to do "high profile research" go dig through all that code); swim practice, which yesterday was 2 hours of jumping off diving board freestyle all-out to 1/2 mi run pushups (4x cycle); working part time at the restaurant while i work full time for other job pretending it's part time; nails and teeth the supposed love of my life is somewhere in there, doing some penelope-the-weaver waiting rn..;,;,,..it's giving panic attack... it's giving lose yourself by eminem.... i am lucky to have these opportunities and am just gonna take it bird by bird as they say

Cass stans hating Jason stans because of fanfic is ridiculous. As is Cass stans aren't equally bad of writing classists, ableist, mockeries of Jason in turn. Honestly each group is playing themselves the issue is never the characters its unimaginative writers and people being unwilling to allow characters to have arcs or change.

Look, I don't think you understand how much popular of a character Jason is at this point in time.

Now if you cross search for how many fics these two are in together, you get

Going based off the sheer numbers, I don't think these Cass fans are writing mockeries in return. And even if they were, Jason fans can go read the 36,440 stories about Jason that don't include Cass. Cass fans have 2,370 stories that exclude Jason - which is still big but also less than half of her stories.

Now another metric - if you filter by how many stories are solo stories (excluding all other batfam members you get the following results):

There are only 338 stories where Cass isn't attached to the batfamily. Of course her fans are going to be resentful. Especially if they see fics where Cass and Jason getting along as ooc for Cass. Why would they be busy writing mockeries of Jason when we already have so little Cass content 💀 that would be a waste of time and I've literally never seen it while reading fic. I have seen Cass show up in stories to go - "guys look how sad jason is" and then do nothing else the entire time multiple times - it's not just jason either and they literally did this in canon with Tim. I don't go out of my way looking for it.

Because there's not a ton of Cass fic (of the actually cool badass Batgirl 2000 Cass), yeah people are going to be resentful if they keep clicking into fics where their fave shows up as a human mood ring, despite that never being their canon characterization. And yeah, I'm sure good writers don't do that, but like 90% of the batfam fandom hasn't read her comic, so like what are they drawing off of to write her?

In happy land where Jason gave up killing and didn't commit any serial murders after coming back, sure they can get along. There's my imagination. Cass stans are just resentful that Cass's character is changed for her and Jason to get along in most of the fan works about the two - and that's completely reasonable imo (like wouldn't you be mad/resentful if Jason was a fluffy stuffed bunny hug monster in all fics about Cass), and is funny because it reminds me of a popular anti-Bruce rant where Jason stans were hating on Bruce because Jason always has to change for him. So like. Shouldn't be hard to see why Cass stans are upset.

Which is why I look at the discourse and I just laugh because hardcore Cass stans are probably never going to like Jason stans, or want to hear them out, so long as the version of Cass that's currently prevalent is the one showing up in fics/canon
