Isidor loved Artemy more than himself, more than life itself even. he loved his son enough to let him go, entrusting that he would return to him eventually.

And yet even when Artemy didn't come back, even when his letters went unanswered for two weeks, Isidor never faulted Artemy and still thought of his beloved son.

"Why isn't my son by my side?" Was he asking the gods or himself? praying to the earth for an explanation? the same son he taught how to hold a spoon, how to walk and ride a bike, wiped his tears and gently treated his scrapped knees. Cradled in his arms when Artemy was just an infant crying for a mom he could never have.

The same one he desperately called for when he felt his time was coming to an end. his little boy, his beloved Artemy.

He had already lost an elder son, and his wife didn't survive the second birth. Yet not once did Isidor act like Artemy owed him anything, not once did he let overprotectivness from the despair of losing his family take over. He allowed Artemy the ultimate freedom to choose his own path and leave his own elderly father alone, without a speck of resentment. raw unconditional love.

Isidor leaving Rubin to be killed by worms for a crime that Isidor made Rubin help him with but lied to him about the nature of for GOD knows how long really puts everything else in a different perspective

Rubin thought he was collecting organs for medicine, visceral but necessary for the health of the town AND the kin, the laws outlawing this outdated and backwards and overly sentimental

But we KNOW Var was buying them off of Isidor. Rubin DIDN’T, the kin DIDN’T — but given that Var is ex-kin its not unlikely he was suspected.

And the kin doesn’t know that Rubin doesn’t know!!!!

Even in DEATH Isidor literally places his reputation above real lives.

Artemy is not Isidor's biological son.

Think about it.

Here's my arguments:

1. Look at him.

2. Isidor is gay.

3. It is canon that adopted children count in this whole menkhu thing.

4. It fits thematically. Sticky and Murky are also adopted, so what? It doesn't matter. Family is not actually about blood, it's legacy.

5. Kin rejects Artemy a lot. They constantly call him outsider and not one of us and all that. Yeah, it because he was attending med school but in the P2 he was away for only 5 years, he left when he was 23-25, a grown ass man.

6. If we count P2 canon, Isidor had another son at some point who died. And that son had more of a Steppe name. Artemy is a white russian boy name.

I admit I come to this with ASOIAF brain. And Pathologic developers most likely weren't thinking about any of that. But it fits! And makes the story more juicy in my opinion.

Day 26: Your Letters

stupid AUs I came up with

everything is a convoluted romcom plot

cw for burakhovsky

- everything starts with isidor thinking, hey my son is in that special age where he's supposed to get married and give me grandkids

- oh right he likes boys

- well I still want him settled down

- so isidor starts flipping through science and medicine magazines, treating them like a tinder gallery basically, looking for palpable bachelors

- he finds one, he looks a bit quirky with his funny coat and his obsession with death, but hey, no one is perfect

- he starts corresponding with this guy, pretending he's oh so interested in his Grand Thanatology Project

- The Plan Begins

- he offhandendly mentions that he knows an immortal dude, who so happens to live in his town, how convenient!

- in the meantime he sends a letter to artemy telling him that he needs to come back Right Fucking Now

- isidor goes to his most trusted collaborator, mark immortell, a big fan of big and convoluted things

- he tells him that they need to stage a huge catastrophic event so those two idiots are brought together by the nefarious circumstances and fall in love or something

- mark is Ecstatic

- he rounds up every woman, man and child in town

- the townsfolk are also fans of big scale performances (it's a town of theatre kids, basically)

- only the children need a bit of convincing, but he bribes them with a sack of nuts

- grief and his gang of bandits are really an unhinged group of improv actors

- clara also is a super enthusiastic theatre person who's a bit too into method acting

- so the two Victims arrive in town, and the play begins

- everyone has roles to play, georgiy for example, has to pretend he has an identical twin who was murdered just before the arrival of this so called bachelor of medicine, oh no! what a tragic coincidence!

- isidor also "disappears," but he's really helping mark from the backstage

- some guys are actually instructed to rough up artemy a little, for "realism's sake" (mark's words) but they leave fake weapons around for the healers to find and "use" (each person in town carries a patch of fake blood so the two feel good about killing them)

- time for the Big Plot Event

- mark and isidor instruct the people to pump up dust and ashes up their chimneys to simulate the plague, put red paint on the buildings, so on

- some people have to play the role of the infected, hey not everyone can have the big roles

- through the placebo effect and gaslighting, the Victims really believe there's a Plague Going On

- and lo and behold they meet

- oh daniil is dropping the two hands line

- oh he's already in love

- hm

- what now

- "the show must go on!" mark cries, he's not stepping down from the biggest and most beautiful project he's ever put on stage

- so they double down on the plague thing

- mark even calls over aglaya, an ex understudy of his, who then also calls block, who used to be in a production of Six Characters In Search Of An Author with her back in the capital. they pretend to be the big baddies from the government or something

- the twelfth day comes to an end and the Victims both think they've got a solution to the plague

- they're invited to the cathedral

- surprise!! it's a wedding!!

- daniil strangles isidor

- the end

New pathologic warrior cat stuff compilation

The Stamatins. Their names are really hard. I'm thinking like something to do with lizards and then it's -eye and -claw suffixes. Both of them being Lizard____ is kind of like unheard of. Like naming both your kids the same thing. Cats can't make an alcoholic beverage so I guess they'd just chew the herbs and get high which would be the substance Peter abuses. Peter of course has to keep his iconic greasy hair so I thought he would keep the psychodelic catnip in his fur always available for consumption. They have a shared leg scar from a certain shared experience of killing a certain guy

Nara/Herb bride concept. Warrior cats don't have the word "bride" or "wife" they just say mate. So herb mates I guess. I thought worms would be completely bald small cats with snub noses. So herb brides only keep the nose and the partial baldness on their feet which is kind of like being shoeless. The more experienced they get the balder they become. Their names would end in -dancer and for Nara I think it would be Willowdancer cause her whole story resembles p1 Willow's

Oyun concept. Has a chimera pattern because Artemy's looking for a minotaur. a half guy half bull. a chimera if you will. here it is. Extremely big cat so he gets to wear a whole ass bull skull. His name is Bullface
