-currently reading Capote's Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era by Laurence Leamer, which I've had for a while but am now reading because it is the basis for the new season of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans (series on FX) -Answered Prayers by Truman Capote is now one of the next books I want to buy -I read a couple articles pertaining to the book and surrounding figures, which then lead me to watching the documentary Always at the Carlyle (2018)

Hoffmann's and Alexandre Dumas' Nutcracker stories, and watching Frozen for the first time and then reading "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen -it was cemented with rewatching Donkey Skin (Peau d'ane) (1970) early in the month and then reading that fairytale ๐Ÿ’ -I've continued / am now I'm continuing to do that with other titles โ–ช "The Red Shoes" ๐Ÿ‘  โ–ช "12 Dancing Princesses" ๐Ÿฉฐ โ–ช Up Next: "The Little Mermaid" ๐Ÿงœ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ -specifically, watching (or rewatching) Czech and Soviet adaptations โ–ช ะกะฝะตะถะฝะฐั ะบะพั€ะพะปะตะฒะฐ (The Snow Queen) (1957) โ„๏ธ โ–ช Three Wishes for Cinderella (1973) ๐Ÿฆ‰ โ–ช Perinbaba (1985) ๐ŸŒจ โ–ช Up Next: ะ ัƒัะฐะปะพั‡ะบะฐ (1976) and Malรก moล™skรก vรญla (1976) (both are "The Little Mermaid") ๐Ÿงœ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ, and ะ”ะฒะตะฝะฐะดั†ะฐั‚ัŒ ะผะตััั†ะตะฒ (The Twelve Months) (1973) -and on my immediate tbr is The Magic Toyshop by Angela Carter ๐Ÿ“•

-this is the only way I can think of describing this mood/interest and it's not even a complete phrase, just adjectives of the aesthetic -I'm just listing movies and books that illustrate this to me โ–ช Currently Reading: Brutes by Dizz Tate โ–ช Currently Watching: Jean Rollin's vampire films: The Shiver of the Vampires (1971), Fascination (1979), The Living Dead Girl (1982), Two Orphan Vampires (1997) โšฐ โ–ช on my book wishlist is Mine-Haha: or On the Bodily Education of Young Girls by Frank Wedekind, which was adapted into the film Innocence (2004) ๐ŸŒณ โ–ช I swear I had other things to put here, but I can always do updates posts later -taken from one of my Letterboxd tags "ethereal femme horror" which I started/came up with when I first watched a couple Jean Rollin films late last summer
๐Ÿน [Also, Fairytale + Moody and Ethereal Femme = my "growing up in a land far far away" list on LB]

-in October I watched Haunted Summer (1988) and rewatched Gothic (1986) and in doing so I realized I haven't read much from Lord Byron. I then bought his Selected Poems and Don Juan ๐Ÿ“œ -reading his work is also likely to lead to finding a biography about him, and works by and about the other Lake Geneva attendees: Mary Wollstonecraft (Shelley), Percy Bysshe Shelley, Claire Clairmont, John Polidori (I have previously read Frankenstein and The Vampyre)
-at the beginning of January I really wanted to start reading Boy Parts by Eliza Clark, but soon afterwards I found out an internet booktube friend died suddenly, so I was a little out of it last month. Boy Parts was actually on her 2024 tbr, so I definitely want to get to it soon when the spur strikes again. ๐Ÿ“ท -honestly, since finding out about her death, though it has taken me some time, I'm even more determined to get to books and movies I've been wanting to read and to watch for years! things I've put off because of high expectations or whatever. things I think will be new all-time favs, 5/5 stars, etc. I'm going to read them! and one of those is A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ‡ -I'm now realizing, when you think about it, certain Jean Rollin films could probably be categorized here ๐Ÿง›๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

one thing about me is that iโ€™m a ballet girlyโ€ฆ do i dance? no but god i wish i did ๐Ÿ˜ญ but that moodboard got me thinking about how angel is probably a massive ballet enthusiast, adoring the classics like swan lake (BARBIE VERSION SLAY!!) and the nutcracker, and maybe even taking a few classes ๐Ÿฉฐ๐Ÿฆข with a pretty pink tutu and pastel leotards + light pink ballet shoes, and its such a graceful and stunning piece of art ๐Ÿ’– and sheโ€™d be like โ€œisnโ€™t it beautiful!!โ€ and aster would be like โ€œyes bb it reminds me of youโ€ OH!! AND MAYBE!! for her birthday or a christmas gift they go see a ballet and get all dressed up and have a fancy dinner to really add to the mood of the evening ๐ŸŒ™ i just really adore ballet its so mesmerizing and fits angelโ€™s vibe so well, very soft spoken and gentle, light movements ๐Ÿฆ‹
omg mood I love ballet and wish I had danced when I was younger at least its all just so....lovely:( idk if aster y/n would get so far into it that she would take classes but I think she def admires ballet and all the costumes and just the Idea of all the pastels and fluffy delicate but deliberate movements and all the confidence that a ballerina has and just its very pretty and lovely to her:( and h would totally indulge her sitting down and watching ballet movies and omg I can TOTALLY see them going out to the ballet around her birthday or christmas and its a special night her in her little "off duty ballerina" fit all pink and pretty and going out to dinner before going and seeing Giselle or the nutcracker or even omg the phantom of the opera ballet is fun but just something fun that makes her happy and she would be so bubbly on the way home or during the intermission like h!!!! what was your favorite part????? I loved the main girls tutu did you see the way it bounced when her partner held her like h its all so pretty!!!!! and hes just happy that shes happy:(
