Cvijeta Job (1924-2013), ''Potjeh'' by Ivana Brlic-Mazuranic, 1975 ”The story is about a grandfather and his three grandchildren. They have to choose between good and evil where good represents the god Svarozic who is the son of the god Svarog. The evil represents the master of anger. His name was Bjesomar.  The purpose of these stories is to find the meaning of what one's heart desires.” Source

Subtitle Ivana Brlić Mažuranić, a Croatian authoress who wrote some of the most beautiful children’s fairy tales, spent a part of her life in Slavonski Brod. Every year, the citizens of this town celebrate her birthday and enjoy the opportunity to abandon themselves to exuberant imagination. For a full week, the entire town becomes a venue for children’s encounters and events such as literary, theatrical, art and photo workshops. This children’s gathering begins with a play taking place at Ivana Square, right in front of the house where their famous citizen used to live. It ends with the returning of the town keys to the mayor and a formal production in the Ivana Brlić Mažuranić Primary School, a school known as the “colourful school” in Croatia as it is painted with characters from Ivana’s fairy tales on the inside and the outside. Potjeh was a project I was developing for a concept art class held by prof Krzysztof Ostrowski, during my student exchange to Poland (Akademia Sztuk Pięknych im. Władysława Strzemińskiego w Łodzi). My task was to produce some concept art, character designs, background designs and a short storyboard. I never produced a ‘final version’, everything remained at the concept stage. However, I am quite satisfied with the design of the main character, Potjeh.
My template was the story Kako je Potjeh tražio istinu, by Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić (translated to English as How Quest Sought the Truth).

Character development for Potjeh, with the final design at the bottom. The style for this project was inspired by medieval Croatian stone reliefs.
