So I was finally able to watch Strange Way of Life, and if I were to describe it...

It was like watching the HBO version of Destiel condensed between season 14 episode 20 and season 15 episode 3, season 15 episode 9, with flashbacks reminiscent of season 5 episode 3, where everyone's a cowboy, and Jensen is playing Cas portraying Silva, and Misha is playing Dean portraying Sheriff Jake.

I will say that destiel and the 2021 supernatural fandom really influenced how I watch/analyze media in a very fun way, idk like the amount of discussion of micro expressions (jacting joices), how close people are standing, who gets cut to when someone else is talking, lighting choices, influence of individual episode writers, the idea of the Ghostfacers effect, layers of performative personality traits, etc etc really were good to hone lenses to analyze media with.

my highest level of clownery for tonight's ep is: we see cas again on screen (likely at the very last moment) and some insane jacting joices are made.

mid-level clownery: we hear cas's voice (a "hello dean") or cas narration (WHERE are those other voices you said we'd hear, jensen?? to be fair i think he said that back when they thought they'd have a full 20+ eps season)

basic clownery that i think could realistically happen: dean mentions a friend / buddy / 'my best friend' in his narration or when we see him in person. could be as simple as a quote from his friend in the narration or as insane as "i'm here looking for someone......my best friend."

low-low bar i am fairly positive they'll meet: SOME destiel parallel or symbolism or wardrobe choice or line. they've been doing it all season. hell the finale episode title alone already checks this box for me.

I've posted before about making my bf watch Supernatural for his first time, and we watched 4.10 Heaven and Hell last night.

Some notable things that brought me joy:

- he immediately clocked jealous Cas, and Cas being possessive and kinky lmao

- while we were talking about the episode while getting ready for bed and brushing our teeth, i talked about never being able to tell if Dean is calling Uriel "junkless" or "chuckles" and he was like, "holy shit yeah. Wtf is he saying? I know he called him junkless like a Ken doll but all the other times I thought he said chuckles! I bet it's a Jensen Ackles acting choice" cue me cackling and spitting toothpaste all over myself as I say "a jackles jacting joice?"

- he hated this Alastair at first, but by the end of the episode was enjoying that actor's performance a ton. Especially one of the best delivered lines in the entire show... "Think I'll take my chances!"... God I love it. So much. Such wonder campy scene chewing 🤌 I can't wait for bf to meet the next Alastair.

- speaking of camp... Bf isn't as into campy stuff as I am. I grew up on Xfiles, Xena, Buffy, Angel, Charmed, Supernatural... I love it all. So he gets annoyed by the goofiness of all of it, he doesn't love the mediocre acting from some of the actors (early seasons Jarpad makes him so angry lmao) but the man cannot ignore the talent/range of Jackles. That emotional end scene with Dean telling Sam about Hell... Bf was captivated and then said "well I can't deny Jensen Ackles is really fucking talented." Spitting facts.

- also we both HATE the car sex scene. Any sex scene in anything in cringe for me honestly but ugh. The music in that scene makes me die of secondhand embarrassment. So awk.
