A RANT ABOUT THE KING: ETERNAL MONARCH ENDING

I want to say that this is not a post to hate absolutely anything or anyone, I love the show, I would just like to discuss and expose the directions I wish the story had taken…

I don´t like Lee Gon with Tae-Eul

I think romance is cute? Okay, but their personalities are so different that it doesn't feel right for them to be together… Opposites attract, but I don't think they work out well in the long run, even with Tae Eul showing her more vulnerable side… They are drastically different. Don't complement each other at all… But I'm not a fan of Lee Gon x Jo Yeong either, i will talk more about this later...

After we saw Tae-eul and Sin-Jae's backstory, it honestly didn't improve my view of the Lee Gon x Tae Eul dynamic at all, but it did a lot for me to like the strange companionship between the detective and Captain Jo…

Tae-eul never seems to reflect well on the things that happen around her, she's just reacting or is being impressed constantly (correct me if I missed a scene) she doesn't reflect on Lee Gon's actions, she only cares if they will seeing herself again, but with a magic flute and a boyfriend from another dimension who claimed to 'know' her before she even knew he existed…she doesn't ask Gon any of the questions that we would expect someone in her position to ask. .. it could even be the simplest, things like "Do you really like me for me now? or are you still hoping I'll save you from that night?" "What if I'm not the one you're looking for, and it's someone from a third world? Would you like me any less if that were the case?" you know… the basics

Back to the king and his unbreakable sword, He and Captain Jo are the epitome of what you would call platonic soulmates, it's wonderful that he's the one who walks in beside Gon on the NIGHT OF HIS TRAUMA, AS HE'S THE ONE WHO'S BEEN BY HIS SIDE HIS WHOLE LIFE. They don't need to be romantically involved to want and do the best for each other. Does it have potential? yes, but I can't see it like that. Honestly, I'd rather have Captain Jo with Detective Kang than the King

I WON'T LIE TO YOU, I didn't realize it was Lee Gon himself who saved his younger version until I looked it up on YouTube, it filled me with excitement and joy! I genuinely cried of happiness, it was such a beautiful gesture of self-love that was soon crushed by the persistent idea of the series trying to making us believe that the romantic love he cultivated with Tae Eul was something "magnificent" to the point that after all is over, he used the flute that started all his troubles going after the version he met of her in one of the many universes he now has access to * rolls eyes *

I don't care about spoilers, so I didn't contain myself and did some research, and one of them was the scene of him telling the little boy, son of the now Minister, his name, and it gave me almost the same feeling as when I found out that he himself had been saved. ..

But then they used the magic flute to travel between dimensions and… Ugh, it was kind of cute to see the scene showing the aging of the two, but as it was developed, it didn't make much sense for them being together as a couple.

How would I REWRITE: the child would actually be the son of someone present at the meeting, I don't know, some former classmate of Lee Gon, family member of someone from the court, whatever his parent, who would later become the romantic partner in life of our king, this with the passage of time shown in the final scenes… And yes, Lee Gon would pass his throne to this boy, I think it would be a good way to to make a repair parallel to the great envy and feeling of rejection that Lee Lim felt… I see this child's parent as someone from the "liberal arts" as Lee Gon so often uses the term to describe many around him, I think he would benefit from being with someone like this, since we met him, we know that he has a very sensitive side despite leaning heavily on science... I think it would be a more balanced relationship than with a police officer, due to his affinity with Einstein's theories and the quality of artists to express themselves to walk through what is abstract;

About his relationship with Tae Eul: the portals would be closed forever, but he would always remember her as his first girlfriend, and the person who helped him discover romantic feelings, being a dream for a while, after getting to know her closely. Although in love, and ignoring the factor of living in separate worlds, he would know that in the long run they would not work out.

The ending would have a Lee Gon who has overcome his trauma by learning to see opportunities to be happy in the life he has.

jo yeong slipping out of formal speech

#i had to make this set because i feel extremely close to a mental breakdown when i think about it #like his speech is obviously highly skewed because he mostly talks to lee gon #but he's SO formal. he's a good polite boy. he speaks the way he wears his suits. #but the way he drops like three registers to be aggressively rude to tae-eul when he thinks she might've been hurting lee gon #it's so abrupt! it's unwarranted except for how jo yeong is insane about lee gon #it's the verbal equivalent of offering to shoot eun-sup for speaking informally to lee gon and i feel so. god. #i think really the only other time he's less than polite to anyone is when he's talking to eun-sup and that hardly counts #what's the register for talking to your parallel universe self #but the moment jo yeong thinks you might be a threat to lee gon he chooses to speak to you like he does with confirmed criminals #and honestly: hot. #duty's just another word for love

89. Joseon Attorney

This show was on my radar because of Woo Do-hwan. I am a huge fan. I don't particularly like period dramas or the law genre but I loved this show.

I knew the show would revolve around legal disputes during that time period but I was not prepared for the direction that the show took. It starts off with a kooky lawyer taking on and winning cases using his unorthodox methods and seems like the whole show would be a comedy but nope...have tissues ready. Apart from the cases Han-soo takes on there's also a *spoiler alert* revenge plot happening too. And it was done SO well. And of course they had to throw in the childhood connection. I loved the romance in this show, Han-soo and Yeon-joo were so adorable together 🥰🥰.

I don't normally like love triangles but this one didn't annoy me as I thought it would. I also liked the bromances 😂

The King: Eternal Monarch - Episode 7

One thing I can't blame this drama for is that the female lead isn't dumb. Her relationship to the main lead is totally weird and makes no sense to me, but still. She's somewhat smart and doesn't get on my nerves. As for Lee Gon... Well the actor's Lee Minho so unfortunately, he doesn't have a high chance of convincing me. Anyways. Let's try and be a little more positive. After all, the concept of the drama is original. And they went for big names for it, must not be easy to have Lee Minho on your casting.

Seriously, this drama is so hard to summarize. The jumps between the scenes are just so frequent, I have no idea what's important what's not... Anyways, Tae Eul's team is now working on a murder case. It was too early in the morning for such gruesome images to me. I'm pretty sensitive, you know. Anyways, for now, the suspect is the victim's boyfriend. But to me, the roommate seems a little suspicious, even more so now that Lee Rim was at that convenience store that is her alibi for the crime. There's something fishy here.

Tae Eul talks about parallel universes to Nari and wonders what she would do if she met someone who looked exactly like her. Nari says she'd kill that person because one of them is bound to die anyways, since there can't be two of the same things to keep balance.

Lee Gon escapes the palace again but is intercepted in the forest by Jo Young. He was actually anticipating it, so he prepared everything to bring him along with him to the other world. There he'll prove that Tae Eul and Luna are two different people, just sharing the same face. So he takes him to Tae Eul's place. She scolds him for taking that risk when Eun sup looks exactly the same. He argues that he wouldn't get caught that easily. And then just like that, they get caught. Right away. I forgot how good that guy's acting is. He's doing such a great job seriously. Things almost escalate to death, but Tae Eul deals with the crisis.

They go on a wannabe date and then she tells him about the recording she has. So he shows her the death certificate of his presumed uncle. They conclude that he's been living in this world ever since, since the body of that autopsy wasn't his. Tae Eul wants to know if she really doesn't exist in his world, but his silence tells that she does, even though he doesn't answer.

Lee Gon orders Jo Young to remain in the other world to find Lee Rim and kill him on sight, so they can protect both their place in their own world.

The forensic team of the kingdom of Corea found a match for Tae Eul's finger prints, but that person had been in prison for a long time and is about to be released. The Prime Minister also gets that information. So goes to meet with her when she gets out of prison.

And that is all. I'm not going to comment on the previews of the next episodes, it's getting me so confused. At least, the plot is somewhat interesting. The mystery part. Not the romance. Even though it sounds weird because I do watch a lot of romance dramas, I'm not really into romance anymore haha. I'm more interested in all the rest of the story.
