Acrylic paintings I did on recycled canvases (and by recycled I mean I dug them out of a recycle bin and cleaned ranch dressing off of them) with varying degrees of texture to fight with. The original paintings were very thickly layered and even with an attempt to sand them down I had a lot to go over.

John Goblikon has sold to a happy buyer, but the top two paintings are still available! I'm tidying the studio and want to sell some paintings to make more space. All traces of ranch dressing has been removed.

😂 okay yes so that is John Goblikon. A goblin who is part of the melodic death metal band Nekrogoblikon. Like literally this is their about me:

It’s amazing. At the end of the video “This Is It”when John Goblikon accidentally kills the band and staff helping him film the bands music video he tells the survivors that they need to keep a secret because they are all part of this now.

This band understands my humor 😂

I have 2 weeks of college left, and am feeling super sentimental so I thought it would be nice to share some of the songs that helped me through school aka prevented me from dropping out! "Music is the strongest form of magic" 🧡

#2) 𝔾𝕠𝕓𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕤

You know when you're sitting, watching the sunset, listening to music & you know everything's gonna be all right? Well that's this song.

It came up on recommended when I was checking out the band during color timing class, and I was instantly hooked. It was spring quarter (2018), and it was the longest time (6 months) that I'd ever gone without seeing my parents & bffs, since it was my first year of college. Because of my credits transfer (going from semester to quarter) I was taking 5 classes (20 units) at the time, one of them being a 4-hour math class from 7-11pm haha! It was intense.

I was also doing the scariest thing I'd ever done at the time: organize, write/direct/produce a professional-level short film for fun. I really wanted to make my own project and step out of my comfort zone, making a film using everything I had learned that year at CCH.

There was 20 different times where I was like: "ok if I just scrap this short film it'll be so much less work. Everyone will appreciate it if I just drop them from the film, and we'll all have less to do." (I didn't, and it ended up being one of the coolest things I've ever made and won an award at the CCH film fest!)

This song, with its driving-forward beat & lyrics helped me every time. "It's a new day, time for reconstruction" - hours and hours of constructing this film, not sleeping from stress of hoping it'd go well and planning out every little detail.

There was just also a lot of times I didn't feel well at all that quarter. So much work, so much stress, and none of my family/bffs around. "I still believe in goblins, I still believe in me". At first it started as just singing along with it... But then I started to believe what I sang: I STILL BELIEVE IN ME!

I can't even begin to elaborate on the amount of comfort this song brought me. It was unlike anything I'd ever heard or felt before; this was better than any drug you could try. It WAS like a drug, I listened to it EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Until one day, I didn't have to anymore. I didn't need it as a crutch, and I could survive without it. Now when I play it, it reminds of victory, it reminds me of my very first short film (one of the coolest days ever!!) and taking 7-10 mile walks (I wish I still had that much free time) and listening to music, sipping boba/eating a pizza pretzel & watching the sunset. And that fact that I finished strong: four A's, one B and one very dope short film!

This song will be forever one of my faves. I'm so glad it came at a time I really needed it, it always seems to work out like that <3
