Juliette was minding her own business by her locker when she heard someone talking about the Striking Vipers performance that was coming up. Her ears perked up and she turned to attention, “I love that band” said the girl, “I swear they are one of the best high school bands in the area. Them and Sunset Curve and oh yeah Negative Ghost Rider” she rambled on with an excited look on her face. She loved music, and she really loved seeing Stevie perform. But the local talent was unmatched, she had gone to a show a few towns over and it just didn’t have that same sparkle. @whitelakestart

March 9, 2021: Orpheus (1950) (Part One)
Greek mythology was my first mythological love.
Tumblr media
And yes, that is ironically a very cliché thing to say about Greek mythology, since it’s by FAR the most popular and well-known mythology in the Western world, but...what can I say, I’m a sucker for the classics.
When I was 6, my mom got me a copy of the Odyssey, followed by D’Aulaire’s Book of Greek Myths, and that book was my SHIIIIIIIIIIT. From the Titanomachy to the Trojan War, from Decaulion to Daedalus, from the Lernaean Hydra to Ladon, and from Zeus to Dionysus (my second favorite Olympian), I LOVE Greek mythology.
Tumblr media
There have been countless adaptations of these stories over the last century of so, some better and more faithful than others. We got Blood of Zeus (which I...genuinely dislike) on Netflix last year, Lore Olympus is a fantastic webcomic and modernized retelling of the universe of stories in general (fuck Apollo, that’s all I have to say), Hercules by Disney is fun (though extraordinarily inaccurate), and who doesn’t like some Percy Jackson (the books, not the movies)?
Today’s entry won’t be the first of the Greek mythology stories this month; after all, it’s DEFINITELY fantasy, so there were going to be a few entries in here. Some will come pretty close to each other later this month, but for this one, we’re jumping forward 10 years from The Thief of Bagdad to 1950. Let’s get back to France, shall we?
Tumblr media
Famous for his adaptation of Beauty and the Beast is Jean Cocteau, legendary French surrealist filmmaker. His stylings definitely capture a sort of practical magic, compounded with clever angles and fascinating visual and practical effects. It’s evident with the classic fairy tale, which I would’ve done this month had I not already seen it. So, instead, we’ll be looking at the middle film in a trilogy known as Cocteau’s Orphic trilogy. This is, apparently, the most important one. And that makes sense, since it’s focused upon...
Tumblr media
Is Hadestown good? I’m real tempted to find a way to watch it, and it sounds like it’s just up my alley. I’ll probably check it out one of these days.
Orpheus was (maybe) the son of Calliope, the muse of poetry, and Apollo, god of music. Maybe. Parentage differs based on the retelling. No matter the parents, he was renowned for his charm and grace, as well as his voice and music. He was loved by animals, nymphs, and maidens alike. He was invited to be the Bard of Jason’s DnD group (AKA the Argonauts), and used Bardic Performance to inspire his comrades (and also helped them overcome the sirens by singing EVEN LOUDER).
But the one whom he loved most was his wife, Eurydice. Unfortunately, a satyr (AKA horny horned half-goat man) chased her right into a viper’s nest, where she was bitten and died. Orpheus was CRUSHED, and his song was so depressing that even the gods cried. They said, “Dude, go to the Underworld, get back your lady from Hades, please!” And he did.
Tumblr media
Hades, the old romantic that he secretly is, agrees to let Eurydice’s soul, on one condition. That he doesn’t look back at her as she follows him out. Orpheus agrees, but the man can’t stop himself from looking back to make sure that she’s there. And she was...and then she wasn’t. So, our sad boi fucked up, and then...well, it’s spotty.
See, some people say that he stopped worshipping Dionysus (his previous patron), and the wine boi’s female followers tore Orpheus to pieces as punishment. Some say that these same women got a liiiiiiiiiittle too into the Bacchanalia (think orgies, but religious and violent), and ripped him apart in a frenzy. And some say that he only took male lover from then on, and women tore him to pieces for not paying attention to them (also, possible homophobia). You know, it varies. Still, we can agree on the ripped apart by women thing. His head could still sing, and as the women threw his body parts into a river, it sang a song so beautiful that the rocks and branches in the river refused to strike it. His instrument of choice, a lyre, was eventually interred amongst the stars as the constellation Lyra.
Tumblr media
The story of a pained artist searching for a lost love and losing her is all over the goddamn place, with the crazy-ass Moulin Rouge being a solid example of it.
But OK, let’s finally begin Orpheus, or Orphée to be more accurate. Gonna be a weird ride, I guarantee it. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Recap (1/2)
Tumblr media
The story starts with a recap of the original myth, and notes that it doesn’t need to be limited by time and place. This sort of story, after all, could happen anywhere and at any time. And in this case, that time and place are 1950s-era France, where we quickly meet famous poet Orpheus (Jean Marais).
At a café, he meets a friend, the Editor (Henri Crémieux), where they speak on Orpheus’ fame, which is not well-liked in a cafe frequented by poets. Also arriving there is a young drunken poet, Jacques Cégeste (Édouard Dermit), who is accompanied by his patron, known only as...the Princess (María Casares). Come on, guys, can we give our female characters names, please?
Tumblr media
Anyway, Jacques quickly gets into a drunken brawl with other patrons, which leads to the arrival of the police at the café. They forcefully arrest him, but before they can, he’s hit by a couple of motorcycles, and potentially killed. The police bring Jacques back to the Princess’ car, with the help of her driver Heurtebise (François Périer). For unknown reasons, she summons Orpheus to help them. He agrees, and goes with them to the hospital.
Tumblr media
Or he would be, if they were going there. Instead, as they drive off, Orpheus discovers that Jacques is dead already. They aren’t going to the hospital. Instead, they head to a mysterious mansion, as ominous and oblique poetry plays on the radio. They’re soon accompanied by the men on the motorcycles that killed Jacques, who work for the Princess. The plot fuckin’ THICKENS.
Tumblr media
Back at her mansion, they bring the body of Jacques upstairs, much to the confusion of Orpheus, whom the Princess keeps calling stupid whenever he asks questions. However, he’s not proving her wrong, as she immediately convinces him that she’s actually dreaming at the moment. Although...maybe he is?
She sits in front of a mirror, which breaks...somehow. Frustrated, she commands Orpheus to wait there for her to return, as she goes to check on Jacques and her men. Like me, Orpheus is confused. This gets worse for me, though, as the Princess goes to the other room and tells the dead Jacques to get up. AND HE DOES. Well, Jacques’ a zombie, I guess. He identifies the Princess as “his Death”, which she agrees to. She tells him to hold on to her coat, and then...
Tumblr media
...I got questions. I GOT QUESTIONS HERE.
They go through the mirror, and the Princess’ henchmen follow, just as Orpheus walks in. He also has questions, and he tries to go through the mirror, to no avail. Completely confused at this point, he passes out against the mirror, alone in the mansion. And then...he’s outside.
Tumblr media
Yeah, he’s just outside now, and waiting there is Heurtebise, the chauffeur! Orpheus is freakin’ out, and Heurtebise has no answers for him, but has been told to take him back to town once he...arrived. OK. Still questions.
Tumblr media
In town, the disappearance of Orpheus is being discussed by a police inspector, his wife Eurydice (Marie Déa), and her friend Aglaonice (Juliette Gréco). Aglaonice doesn’t seem to like Orpheus very much, as she’s trying to convince Eurydice that he’s cheating on her. And that’s hard to argue, since he was last seen with the Princess. However, just as there’s about to be a scandal reported by a spontaneously appearing journalist, Heurtebise and Orpheus arrive home.
After a rough encounter with the journalist, he arrives home to a relieved Eurydice, and an enraged Aglaonice, whom Orpheus also dislikes heavily. He’s apparently forbidden her from entering his house, and tells her off. The Inspector leaves too, and asks Orpheus to come to his office to discuss the matter of the missing Jacques.
Tumblr media
Eurydice reminds Orpheus that Aglaonice is dangerous, as she runs...the League of Women. Well...I think we know what role Aglaonice is going to play by the end of this. Her and her League of Bacchanalian Women, get me? Yikes. Anyway, the conversation turns into an argument, when the EXTREMELY ornery Orpheus basically just storms off, being a DICK to his poor wife. And when he goes upstairs to his room, he actually sneaks out of the window.
Meanwhile, Heurtebise comes into the house to offer an alibi to the pained Eurydice. While she doesn’t quite believe it, the two share some time together and seem to bond. However, when he smells gas from the stove, Heurtebise lets it slip that he committed suicide by using a gas stove. He covers it up before Eurydice notices the slip-up, but...OK. So, “the Princess” is death. Going by the traditional Greek myth, she’s some form of psychopomp, and the world beyond the mirror is the Underworld, I can only assume. OK...I can dig it.
Tumblr media
Orpheus, meanwhile, is at the car, listening to the strange radio poetry and writing it down. The, uh, “Princess” is busy as well. Like a ghost, she walks into the household and watches Orpheus as he sleeps. A narration refers to her as Orpheus’ death. Funny, I’m pretty sure that’s going to be Aglaonice’s role.
Two days later, Orpheus is increasingly obsessed with the poetry from the mysterious radio and its odd messages. While Eurydice seems to mock this obsession, Orpheus also seems to be far too enraptured in it. But, interestingly, the messages seem to be coming from nowhere known. However, it’s all beginning to affect their marriage greatly.
Tumblr media
On the phone, the Inspector comes calling, and Eurydice asks Heurtebise to answer the phone. He does so, and soon after, we see the phone float into place, as if placed there by a ghost. That’s confirmed as Heurtebise phases to the outside from nothing, where he meets Orpheus and informs him of the message. The two decide to head to the Inspector in his car, rather than the mysterious talking car.
While Orpheus goes through town, looking for the Princess rather than the Inspector, there’s something that I wanted to mention here. Call it an interpretation. Apparently, Heurtebise is often considered an angel by critics and interpreters. However, I’m gonna suggest that he’s actually supposed to be a representation of Hermes, the messenger god and a psychopomp who escorted souls to the Underworld. Not sure about the Princess yet, but Cocteau apparently never meant for her to be portrayed as actual death. Interesting.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, at the Inspector’s office, both Aglaonice and Orpheus’ poet friends (supposedly) are accusing Orpheus of being involved in Jacques’ disappearance. The Inspector turns them away, just as Heurtebise and Orpheus reconvene in town. While Orpheus didn’t find the Princess, Heurtebise says that she came by, saying that he could stay with the married couple for now.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the Princess, we see her at night, staring over Orpheus. And her eyes are...strange. They seem artificial, and it bothers the EVER-LOVING SHIT out of me. And the whole affair isn’t helping Eurydice either, as she’s tired of Orpheus’ obsession with the car, and is planning on going to Aglaonice for advice. Heurtebise tries to stop her from doing so, but she insists. But when she goes...the motorcyclists come for her. And she’s dead. As proven when the Princess arrives through the mirror.
Tumblr media
Alongside her comes Jacques, acting as the Princess’ servant. She notes to him that their work isn’t easy, and couldn’t be done if she were dressed in the way the humans portray her. So, she is seemingly Death, or at least an aspect of Death. Obviously, as we’re talking about the Greek story, we can assume that she’s meant to be Hades in particular. But, we’ll see. It’s also confirmed, by the way, that the mysterious messages are indeed Jacques’ poetry, recited by him on the radio waves from beyond the grave. Neat.
Heurtebise is clearly upset with what’s just happened to Eurydice. He asks if the Princess actually had orders to kill Eurydice. She avoids the question, and guesses correctly that Heurtebise has fallen in love with Eurydice. He confirms this, and counters with the fact that the Princess has seemingly fallen in love with ORPHEUS. The plot fucking THICKENS.
Tumblr media
Good place to pause, I think. Halfway mark and all. See you in Part Two!

Top 10 Greatest Johnny Depp Movies of All Time
Tumblr media
1. Pirates of the Caribbean
Tumblr media
Johnny Depp's character as Captain Jack Sparrow is probably the most famous of all. He nailed the role - the dark makeup, pirate attitude, rum lover, excellent gun and sword fighter, and a happy-go-lucky person. Isn't he the hottest pirate in movie history? Fun facts: Originally, he wanted Jack Sparrow to have no nose and be afraid of silly things like pepper and the common cold. However, Disney rejected his idea.He wore contact lenses which served as sunglasses so he wouldn't be squinting in the sun all the time.He also improvised Jack Sparrow's catch phrase, "Savvy?"Captain Jack is portrayed as having gold teeth in the film. The gold teeth were Depp's idea, but he predicted that executives would want fewer gold teeth, and told his dentist to implant more gold teeth as a bargaining tool. Sparrow's final number of gold teeth in the film was what Depp had envisioned all along. 2. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Tumblr media
It may be Captain Jack Sparrow who is our all-time favorite Johnny Depp character, but we couldn't deny the fact that he's a splendid killer in Sweeney Todd. In this movie, he's not just some Benjamin Barker who seeks revenge, but one who can sing while giving a nice shave. He really is a demon barber! Fun facts: There are some scenes in the movie where Sweeney opens his razor very quickly. It is actually a mechanical razor. There is already a button that he would press to have the razor open, which he hides with his finger. He personally requested the prop department to design this razor for him, as he had difficulty handling the real razors. In preparation for his role, he had recorded demo tapes of himself in West Hollywood, working with old friend and music producer Bruce Witkin to shape his own vocals without a voice coach. He also practiced singing the musical while filming Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007).The extra-large jacket costume he worn in the movie is a Belstaff dark leather trench, designed exclusively for him. 3. Edward Scissorhands
Tumblr media
Johnny Depp's character as Edward Scissorhands is just a proof that he's not always the cool or bad guy. He can also be a sweet, innocent gentleman who's not hard to love. We all want to give Ed a cuddle, right? Fun facts: Johnny Depp admitted that he "cried like a baby" when he first read the script. He convinced Winona Ryder to appear in this film, so she dropped out of The Godfather: Part III (1990).This is fascinating: Edward says only 169 words in the film. This film is the first collaboration between Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. 4. Sleepy Hollow
Tumblr media
Fun facts: According to history, Ichabod Crane was a very unattractive man. Johnny Depp offered to add prosthetics to his face to make himself look ugly, but Tim Burton wanted to base the character on Crane's more unattractive personality traits - more on his reported squeamishness and eccentricity. He initially found the idea of Christina Ricci being his love interest in the film to be rather odd, seeing as he's known her since she was nine years old. 5. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Tumblr media
The sweet world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is one of our childhood movies. Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka looks funny and vibrant, which is just visually appealing for children. Rolling Stone magazine wrote, Depp goes deeper to find the bruises on Wonka's secret heart than what Gene Wilder did. Fun facts: Johnny Depp was the only actor Director Burton considered for the role. signed on the role without reading the script under the intention of going with a completely different approach than what Gene Wilder did in the 1971 film adaptation.Depp and Burton derived Willy Wonka's character from children's television show hosts. As a child, Johnny Depp was allergic to chocolate. Quite ironic, right? This is Depp's second chocolate-based movie. 6. Finding Neverland
Tumblr media
Finding Neverland is a movie which shows that Johnny Depp can play a protagonist's role in a fantasy world without wearing colorful makeup. His role as J.M. Barrie, though understated, was a promising one. He brought just the right amount of grace and charm to the real-life story. Fun facts: Directly after filming those scenes, Johnny Depp told the director that they would end up deleting those scenes. Guess what, he's right! Johnny Depp was the first of the cast members to sign on to the film. Kate Winslet was next. During the formal dinner scene, Johnny Depp played a prank by placing a "fart machine" under Julie Christie's chair. He had a remote control that he used to trigger a fart sound from the device. The children are laughing so hard at that than from playing with the spoons. 7. What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Tumblr media
This is the kind of movie that shows how versatile Johnny Depp is. His role as Gilbert Grape is just so enchanting, it would make you feel emotional right away. In addition to his performance, young Leonardo DiCaprio is also astonishing. Variety magazine told that, "Depp manages to command center screen with a greatly affable, appealing characterization." Fun facts: Johnny Depp felt really bad about having to insult Darlene Cates' character, "Momma", and would often apologize to her after shooting. Depp said to Cates, "Man, I want you to know how much I hated having to say those things about you, or about your character."He also had the idea of playing Gilbert Grape as someone who seems constantly half asleep/half awake--someone numb to the peculiarities in his life. Juliette Lewis completely agreed with his interpretation of the character. Even still, he's worried he was boring by playing Gilbert so mildly. Lasse Hallström, however, agreed with Lewis, and thought that Depp nailed the part. In an interview, Depp said, "It was a hard time for me, that film, for some reason. He was always talking about these video games, you know? I told you it was kind of a dark period... 'No, I will not give you a drag of my cigarette while you hide from your mother again, Leo.'" Depp concluded, "I'd say the absolute truth is that I respect Leo a lot. He worked really hard on that film and spent a lot of time researching. He came to set and he was ready to work hard and all his ducks were in a row." 8. Donnie Brasco
Tumblr media
This rich, satisfying movie is adapted from Joseph Pistone's novel about his own experiences as an undercover FBI mole. Depp himself played Pistone and his alter-ego, the titular Donnie Brasco. Critics praised his performance especially: a Salon.com review hailed his performance as "sensational." New York Magazine called him "graceful" and found his acting highly believable: "We can believe that the mob might take him for a tough, ambitious young hood—he has the wariness and the self-confidence that creates an aura." Fun facts: In preparation for his role, Johnny Depp met with Joseph D. Pistone in person for a number of times. He also took shooting lessons from the FBI.He spent months together with the real Joseph D. Pistone before shooting. Most of the time they lifted weights together. One of the many reasons why Johnny Depp was chosen to cast as Brasco was because he looked kind of Italian. In reality, he says he's "One part Cherokee and the rest mutt."Al Pacino was originally going to play Brasco. However, when he switched to Lefty, he recommended Johnny Depp. 9. Ed Wood
Tumblr media
Another film directed by Tim Burton, the 1994 biopic stars Depp as cult filmmaker Ed Wood. It may not be as popular as some of the other Burton-Depp collaborations, but this movie proved that Depp is more than capable of handling different roles, even without all the flashy makeup and costumes. Though it is not a box-office hit, it earned several praises from other critics and audiences alike, and earned Depp a Golden Globe nomination. Fun facts: Johnny Depp has said that his characterization of Edward D. Wood Jr. was a mixture of "the blind optimism of Ronald Reagan, the enthusiasm of the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Casey Kasem."Ed Wood's Hollywood home overlooking his nightclub "The Viper Room" was previously owned by Bela Lugosi. This is Tim Burton's first R rated film. 10. Alice in Wonderland
Tumblr media
Another colorful role by Johnny Depp is being the Mad Hatter in the 2010 Alice in Wonderland movie. Mia Wasikowska, the actor for Alice, said that, "both (Alice and Mad Hatter) feel like outsiders and feel alone in their separate worlds, and have a special bond and friendship." Burton also explained that Depp "tried to find a grounding to the character ... as opposed to just being mad." Fun facts: This film marks the 7th time Johnny Depp has worked under the direction of Tim Burton.Johnny Depp admitted that he found the process of filming on a green screen "exhausting", and "befuddled by the end of the day". He also said that he prefers "an obstacle" while in filming.Tim Burton and Johnny Depp worked hard to give the Mad Hatter more depth and presence than in past portrayals. In fact, the pair swapped sketches and themes for the character prior to creating this new version.Johnny Depp watched the Scottish comedy show Rab C. Nesbitt (1988) to perfect his character's Glaswegian voice. Read the full article

Striking Vipers Show || Wren, Chanel, Gabrielle, Chase, Jesse, Jonah, Juliette, Stevie, Rose, Marina, Olivia
The gang hangs out at a venue in town for a Striking Vipers (Wren, Stevie, Rose) set.
@chrysolites @gabriellehale @jessekxller @kalidoscpe
Group at the Table
Wren: Wren was sitting with Chanel at the venue before their set, "I'm really glad you came" said Wren with a smile. He was so happy that she would come to see him preform, it made him feel like she was really his girlfriend. They were doing so much together these days, it felt like dating. She just didn't like him like that, and it hurt. But he was happy regardless because she was there.
Chanel: Chanel smiled at Wren, "Of course I came! I love seeing you perform." she said truthfully. She always came to practices and shows, but this was the first time she's gone to see him perform since their fight during homecoming. "Maybe one day you can teach me how to play." she wiggled her eyebrows. "Or I could be the Manny Santos of the band and just look pretty as I play a tambourine."
Gabrielle: Gabrielle held on to Chase's hand as they walked in. "So is this like a group thing?" She questioned as she was a bit nervous. She was proud of herself for going out in public for once.
Wren: Wren smiled, "I think you'd look pretty playing any instrument" he replied before they were interrupted by Chase and Gabrielle.
Chase: "Yeah of course it's a group thing babe" said Chase, "But I promise it'll just be us later" he added as they walked up to Chanel and Wren's table. "Hey guys" said Chase with a friendly smile. "Mind if we interrupt?" he asked, knowing that they were hopefully starting something. Gabrielle: "Well, i'd hope it would be just us later." She said giving him a nudge. Gabrielle held onto Chases are and angled her body to be mostly hidden behind hers. She just felt more protected by him. She offered a friendly smile to the others. Chanel: Chanel smiled as Wren spoke before jumping a bit as she heard Chase's voice. "Uh, nope. You're good." she looked at Chase and Gabrielle with a friendly smile, feeling pretty bad that she hadn't spoken to him for so long. "How are you?" she asked Chase. Stupid question, but she didn't know what else to say. Chase: Chase pulled up a chair for him and one for Gabrielle and pushed her chair in for her before sitting down and putting his hand on her knee, "I'm good" said Chase to his best friend, "Things are rough, but we're dealing. Wren said you two have been hanging a lot, so sorry I haven't called" Chase replied. Gabrielle: Gabrielle sat down in the chair, she knew there was a chance of seeing his friends, but she didn't expect Chanel to be there, let alone so close. Gabrielle looked over at chas and held his hand but didn't say anything
Jesse: Jesse showed up with Liv and engaged in a conversation that will be the result of a thread and then joined the group. "Hey guys! Whats up?"
Chanel: Chanel nodded at Chase, "Yeah, he's been the best. Sorry I haven't called you either." she said with a sad smile. She didn't even know what to say to Gabrielle, it just felt too awkward.
Jonah: Then Jonah came up with Juliette with a smile on his face, "Hey, can't wait to see you guys perform." he said to Wren and Stevie. Wren: "Thanks man" said Wren putting out his fist for a fist bump to Jonah, things had definitely been better recently but it was still a little awkward. "I'm gonna go get a pitcher" said the boy getting up to use his fake ID and get them some beer. The place was pretty relaxed, so it wasn't too hard. Wren returned with a stack of cups and two pitchers of beer with the help of a fellow high schooler who was working at the place.
Chase: Chase pulled Gabrielle into his lap to make room for all the people arriving, he also just wanted her in his lap. He put a hand on her lower back and continued making conversation with Chanel, "We can hangout soon, I want to hear about ... ya know" he said with a smirk, referring to Wren as the other boy appeared back with beer. Gabrielle: Gabrielle willing slid over into chases lap. She felt like she was asserting her dominice of belonging to chase. Gabrielle looked over at Wren when Chase suggested there was something going on. Gabrielle went to make a comment, but held back because she was trying to play nice Chanel: Chanel eyes widened when Chase spoke, hitting his arm slightly. "There's nothing to talk about." she said just cause she didn't want Wren think she was into him... even though she was... but ya know. "We'll talk later." she leaned towards Chase and whispered. "We can have a fun night together. I'll bring some wine." she said with a smile. Chase: "Just us and a double bottle of moscato baby" said Chase laughing quietly to Chanel, his hand still on Gabrielle's back as he leaned over to talk to Chanel. Gabrielle: GAbrielle raised her brows at Chanels words about having a wine night. "Sounds super fun." She said but as called her baby Gabrielle stood up. "I have to use the bathroom" She said picking up her purse and walking to the bathroom.
- click here for bathroom thread - Chanel: Chanel raised a brow at Gabrielle as the girl spoke. She looked over at Chase and frowned, "Sorry... Did I say something wrong?" she asked, leaning back in her seat. She really didn't want to have any kind of problems, this was Wren's night. But the moment she saw Juliette follow Gabrielle, she rolled her eyes. Chase: "That's on me. I think I can get away with shit because she was sitting in my lap. But she stays jealous" said Chase running his hand through his hair. How did he continuously fuck up like this.
Rose: "Hellooooo" said Rose as she arrived in her cute little outfit, "Have you guys seen Caleb yet?" she asked. Chanel: "Do you want me to like, apologize to her or whatever?" Chanel asked, but she really didn't want to go to the bathroom with both girls in there. "I don't want to give you guys any problems." Stevie looked around to see if Caleb was here, "I haven't seen him yet, he's probably on his way. I'll let you know if he's here." she tried to smile at Rose. Chase: "No, I think that might make things worse. I don't think it's our relationship. It's just her issues" said Chase, "We've been good recently. It's just ... she forgets how I am sometimes with the cheer girls until she sees it in person" he added. Chase felt guilty, but he had seen Juliette follow her, and assumed Juliette would help her chill out. Rose: Rose touched her necklace, "He has hockey practice, but he should be here soon. This is his first time coming and seeing me perform" said the girl nervously. It felt so good to be back with him, she was just blinded by how much she liked how Caleb made her feel, and how it felt to be with him. She was definitely going to give tonight her all. Chanel: Chanel didn't think it was about the cheer girls, she thought it was just her that was the problem but she didn't say it. "Right. I'm glad you two have been good recently though." she tried to smile. "I know how whipped you are for her. I think we all do." Wren: "Chase? Whipped?" said Wren with a laugh, "couldn't be me" he said even though he was whipped himself. Stevie: Stevie nodded her head slowly and looked over at Marina who came with Rose. The two girls gave each other a look. They were on the same wavelength. "Those practices can always run late. He'll be here." she said with a forced smile. "You're gonna do great."
Chanel: "Couldn't be you? You seem like you'd be a total simp." Chanel laughed, nudging Wren softly. "You were talking to some girl that was across the country." she said, a little bitterly. "I'd say that's pretty whipped. But maybe I'm just not good with long distance shit."
Rose: Rose touched her necklace and smiled at the people around her, "He's probably so excited and running over here right now" she replied, smiling down at the ground now. She thought about texting him, but she didn't want to be needy. Wren: "Fair enough" said Wren with a smile to Chanel, "but I told you, I'm not into her like that anymore" he clarified. "I've got my eye on someone else anyways" said Wren, hoping for his moment to tell Chanel, but this was not the place or time.
Stevie: "Yeeeeaaah." Stevie said slowly. Marina looked over at Rose before rolling her eyes. She had a feeling that boy needed another beatdown. "While you wait, you want something to drink?" Stevie asked. Chanel: "Right, I almost forgot." Chanel tried to act casual but she obviously did not forget, it's all she thought about. "You gonna make a move soon? I'm sure she's so into you, who wouldn't be? I'd love to meet her some day." she lied. Chanel wasn't sure how she'd act if she saw him with some other girl. Rose: "Oooh yeah" said Rose as she poured herself a glass of beer and one for Stevie and Marina. "He's taking me on a trip tomorrow, tres romantique" she said excitedly. She just couldn't shut the fuck up about him. Rose knew she was annoying people, but she couldn't help it. "Anywayyyyys, I am so stoked for this performance" she said as she took a sip of beer. Wren: Wren wanted to roll his eyes at that comment, because she didn't want to be with him. That's who. He hoped her seeing him perform would change her mind a little, but he knew it was a lost cause. "Soon enough" he said, trying to think of who at school he could possibly fake a crush on until it felt real. Stevie: Stevie and Marina grabbed their glasses and took a sip from it. "That's cool... I'm sure you'll both have a great time together." Stevie said, confused as to why he wasn't already here. Surely he would want to come to his girlfriend's show. This was all definitely sus.
Marina: "You're gonna do great, Rosie. I'm really excited for the first song, it was my favorite." Marina said with a big smile.
Gabrielle: Gabrielle nodded. "Right. Mark my territory. Be confident." She said "Okay, lets do this, lets go back out there." She said as she took her hand and led her too the table. She walked with power, gave a hair flip. She figured Chase would cave. She dropped her hand and took her spot back on chases lap. "Chanel, poor be a beer?"
Juliette: Juliette heard Gabrielle ask Chanel to pour her a beer a little too confidently, "I think I made a mistake" said Juliette in a whisper to Stevie.
Chanel: "Soon. Fun. Can't wait." Chanel was getting irritated with this conversation with Wren and it was starting to show. She narrowed her eyes at Gabrielle as she ask to pour her a beer. "Excuse me? You have arms, use them." she said with a little bit of attitude. Stevie: Stevie looked over at Juliette and back at the others at the table, "Is everything okay?" she whispered.
Juliette: "I think I caused this on accident" whispered Juliette back in reference to Chanel and Gabrielle. Gabrielle: Gabrielle smiled softly. She stood up and walked over and took the pitcher that was in front of the girl and poured a cup and sat back down. "Thanks for the reminder." Stevie: Stevie smiled at Juliette, "On accident? You sure?" she teased the girl. "You could be honest with me." Juliette: Juliette gave her a look, "... how dare you" said Juliette laughing quietly, "I thought she was just going to kiss him or send him a flirty text or something. I didn't think she was gonna come back here and demand Chanel be a wench" said the girl with a doe eyed look on her face. Stevie: Stevie started laughing at Juliette's choice of words, "If they break out into a fight, I guess we'll have to blame you for it." she said just to mess with the girl. "I didn't know you were like this, Hastings. A real eye opener." Juliette: "Wow Summers, I see you're a drama fiend" said Juliette squinting at the other girl. Chanel: Chanel was frustrated in every way possible at this point. If she popped off on Gabrielle, she'd ruin the night for everyone so she simply rolled her eyes and kept quiet. Gabrielle: Gabrielle took a drink from the beer, she always hated beer but it was what was provided. "So Chase" She said turning so she could look at him. "What kind of music do these play?" Stevie: "Hey, I'm just chillin." Stevie placed her hands behind her head while she leaned back in her seat. "Are you going to be a bad influence on me?" she looked around the table to make sure no one peeped before winking at Juliette. Chase: Chase smiled at Gabrielle, his head empty. He just kind of shut everything out when the girls did this. Same routine, new location. Was it his fault? Yes. Did he care? Not too much. Chase put his hand on her lower back, "It's kind of a mix" said the boy with a smile, "but it won't go too late. Then we can spend some one on one time together" he added in. He knew group settings weren't really her speed, but he knew that it was good for her to be with people even if she didn't like it. Gabrielle: Gabrielle nodded. "Interesting." She said with small smile. Though, she wasn't very interested in his, she didn't think it would be such a group activity. "I'd like that, hopefully its not to late." She wanted to be able to put gene to bed but knew the chances weren't likely. "What do you want to do later?" Chase: Chase put his hand on her outer thigh and went to whisper in her ear, "You" said Chase with a smirk on his face. Gabrielle: Gabrielle blushed a bit. She was a bit nervous but that was hot, it send shivers down her spin. "meet me in the bathroom in 2 minutes?" Chase: Chase's eyes widened and he just nodded quickly.
Juliette: Juliette saw the interaction, "Okay whew they're good. They're definitely leaving to go hook up" said the girl before turning back to Stevie. "Okay, if anyone is a bad influence it's you" teased Juliette biting her lip a little. Gabrielle: Gabrielle got up from his lap silently and walked over to the bathroom Chase: Chase followed quickly.
- click here for bathroom thread -
Jesse: Jesse looked up as they walked away. "So.... Do yall think they are fighting it out or fucking it out?" Stevie: Stevie sat back up and laughed, "Me? You're crazy. I'm an absolute angel." she said to Juliette with a big smile on her face. She looked over at Jesse and nodded her head, "Fucking it out, for sure. I think Chase might enjoy if they were fighting though."
Jesse: "I think Chase enjoys any attention she gives him." He said with a laugh. "I think they are fighting it out. Anyone want to put money on it?"
Wren: "She's turned him down recently" said Wren in reference to what they knew from the group chat, "So I say fighting" Rose: "Guys I just talked to the manager, we need to head backstage" said Rose coming back to the group. She looked around again for Caleb, but he would be here soon enough. Rosemary waved for the others to come join her and they headed backstage. - Rose, Stevie, and Wren leave - Jesse: Jesse smiled as ose said they had to go back stage. "Good luck guys!" Juliette: "Oooooh, they're gonna be on!" said Juliette to Olivia, she was so excited to see Stevie perform. It was painfully obvious how happy Juliette was to be here with Stevie, even though she thought she was being nonchalant about it all. Olivia: olivia looked at juliette, and honestly, she was so grateful that jesse had managed to get her to go. she was having fun, and she definitely needed that right now. the band was about to get on and she looked over at how excited juliette was. it was adorable "you are adorable, juliette. come on, let's try and get closer to the stage!" Juliette: "Do you want beer?" she asked, pouring herself a tiny little cup from the pitchers Wren had gotten. Juliette smiled at the other girl, trying to contain her excitement, "then we will totally go up!" she said smiling at her friend. Jesse: Jesse smiled, Olivia looked happy to be here which meant he did a good job. "Yeah, go up. I'll be here when you get back."
Olivia: olivia nodded and smiled, " i'd love something to drink, " she said and looked at jesse, but then realized that she was driving. " but i'm driving, so probably shouldn't. " she looked at juliette who smiled and seemed excited about getting closer to the stage. the blonde looked at jesse, who told her to go up an how he'd be there when she got back. " okay, come on, " olivia said, taking juliette's hand and pushing her way through the crowd of people. In the pit Juliette: Juliette laughed, "I can't drive well so no one here lets me drive" said Juliette, thankful that she didn't have to get behind the wheel. She really was the worst, because gays can't drive and that's just science. Juliette held Olivia's hand as they pushed through the crowd, "They're all so talented, I am so excited!!" said Juliette just beaming thinking about seeing Stevie on stage again. Olivia: olivia giggled excitedly and looked at juliette. " are you excited for some particular reason? " she asked curiously and smiled at the other girl. " because, i mean... there are some pretty faces up there, " she said and bit her bottom lip, before she wrapped an arm around juliette, squeezing it softly. " you look great, by the way. she's gonna die when sees you, " she spoke into juliette's ear. it was pretty obvious who she was excited to see. Juliette: Juliette went into a gay panic, "Ummmm" said Juliette thinking of ways to play it off. "She? I don't know what you're talking about" the girl added in. She was kind of done for, but her secret. How many people were going to figure it out? Olivia: " hey, you don't have to worry. i'm not going to tell anyone, " she said and smiled as she looked at juliette. " you're still the same sweet and amazing juliette. besides, " olivia turned to look at the stage, " i get where you coming from. she's hot, " she said and turned to look at juliette again with a wide grin on her lips. Juliette: Juliette was in shock for a second, "Am I that obvious? Because Stevie thought I was straight for like ... well always" said Juliette, swallowing hard for a second. "Don't I like ... seem straight?" she questioned. Juliette's mind was filling with questions.
Olivia: "well, the way you look at her, you know, it just kind of gives it away. that and i'm pretty good at seeing when someone likes another person," she said and shrugged. then when she asked if she didn't seem straight, olivia looked at her. "hey, there's nothing wrong with liking girls. fuck that. fuck people who say it is. love is love, you know.."
Juliette: "I mean I don't have any problem with .. it" said Juliette, she was still grappling with admitting it out loud. "My parents are ... well they're something. They care about town reputation like a little too much, and they're pretty catholic" she replied. "But who knows, Stevie is something different, just look at her play!" said Juliette fangirling a little as she watched the other girl play bass on stage. Olivia: nodding her head, olivia could understand where juliette was coming with. " i get that, but you know, your happiness is important here. not what they think or whatever. if stevie makes you happy, then i say go for it and fuck what your parents think or say." olivia looked at her as she fangirled over stevie who was on the stage, playing the bass perfectly. it was cute, the way she looked at the girl on the stage. Juliette: "I'm not trying make things difficult at home" said Juliette, she had a lot of things to think about. The affair was already making things hard enough, like being in the house. She just stared at Stevie and wondered how long she would be able to keep her around until it became too painful for Stevie to be quiet about it all.
Olivia: olivia looked at juliette, nodding her head. she felt bad for her friend, that her parents would make her feel that way. " i'm sorry to hear that. but, you shouldn't have to hide who you are. because, you're a beautiful person. "
Juliette: "I'm okay with it" said Juliette honestly, she didn't mind hiding it until she was out of the house. Whether or not Stevie would be okay with it was another whole deal. "I just hope she is" said the brunette, tucking her hair behind her ear as she stared up at the stage.
Olivia: "well," olivia said and looked at stevie, then over at juliette. "i'm sure is. you're worth waiting for," she said and nodded, giving her a quick wink before moving along with the song that was played on stage.
Juliette: Juliette started dancing with Olivia, just having a good time with the girlies. Gabrielle and Chase came to join them because they should be done by now.
Olivia: olivia giggled and smiled softly at juliette, before turning her head around and looking at gabrielle and chase who joined them. she kept jumping up and down excitedly as the music continues to play and she brushed her hair away from her face. breathing heavily, she leaned forward and spoke into juliette's ear. " i'm gonna get something to drink. do you want anything? " she asked before pulling her head back and looking at her friend.
Juliette: "totally, but small for me please" said Juliette, she didn't want to go crazy. Stevie had seen enough of her like that. She was having such a good time dancing and enjoying the music.
Olivia: olivia smiled softly and nodded as she looked over at gabrielle and chase, before starting to push her way through the crowd of people, heading for the bar where she could get them drinks. once she arrived at the bar, she leaned forward and ordered juliette something and asked for a coke for herself, as she had been the one who had been driving.
Olivia: Grabbing the drinks, Olivia made her way back over to where Juliette, chase and Gabrielle was. She handed her friend her drink and smiled, before focusing on the hand that was playing. In the corner of her eye, she had noticed Jesse sitting down with Jonah - and she hoped he was doing okay, after everything with Devyn. “Hey do you think Jonah is okay?” She asked out loudly, for either of the three to respond.
Gabrielle: Gabrielle looked over at Liv as she spoke and then at the table with the boys. "He looks fine to me? BUt I don't know him all that well."
Juliette: "I've been really wrapped up in everything" said Juliette looking to the ground, "I mean he seems fine enough at school?" she felt awful about how they would spend time together but never talk. They just liked sitting in the same room together.
Gabrielle: Gabrielle looked at Juliette, "Its just been a really crazy time. We have all been wrapped up in something." She pointed out. "I'm sure he is okay though, Jesse would have said if he wasn't right?"
Olivia: Olivia nodded and bit her bottom lip. “Yeah, I’m sure you guys are right. I just.. the whole situation was pretty messed up.”
Time passed, Olivia and Chase hungout outside and Caleb arrived during the set to see Rose perform.

spring break out || part 1
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍: washington // junior year.
𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: juliette x stevie (ft. montag).
𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒: true and unadulterated hapiness.
𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒: a cross country road trip for love.
Montag got out of his car and tossed the keys to Stevie who had gotten out of the van, "You wait here outside the gate, she'll be out here before you know it" he said passively. He was not showing it, but he was really excited to see his sister. Enough that he had come on this spring break trip with her friends just to get her out of school. "And you" he said to Wren through the window of the van, "are picking me up so we can get to the house and get stuff set up for one hell of a rager" he said as he pat the car. Wren nodded.
Montag headed into the school and showed his ID so he could go up to Juliette's room. He knocked on the door before walking in, "Hey dumbass" said Montag with a smirk that turned into a full smile. "Monty!!!!" Juliette said, shocked by his presence in her dorm room. She jumped off her bed and hugged him. "What are you doing here?! You didn't tell me!!" she said, squeezing him so tightly. "I wanted to surprise you, but I am breaking you out of here for a few days. We can go out to dinner and get you out of this stuffy place. Just you and me" he lied, "pack your things." He was going to think of a better lie, but he needed an excuse for her to dress well. Not that she wouldn't, but she had no idea what was to come. "Actually, go ahead and dress for dinner. I want to go sightseeing in Seattle first, and I know you'll be uncomfortable in the restaurant if you're not wearing one of your outfits" he said in the most blase way possible. Somewhere, in his deepest heart of hearts ... he was rooting for love today. And that team was going to win.
Juliette quickly packed her things, some of her best outfits and her toiletries. "I'm staying staying with you?" she clarified. "Yes, pack for three days" he replied as he sat down at her desk and put together her laptop and things. He turned around so she could get changed, and she got herself all ready. "Let me just put on a little makeup and I'll be ready, will you get my suitcase shut?" she asked with a soft smile. Juliette finished getting ready, and she looked great. She hadn't really gotten to see the city at all yet, and was more than excited to get out of the country side and to go in. Little did she know, she was hardly going to be going anywhere. Once he got her out of the dorm and she had said goodbye to Florence, Montag and Juliette walked out into the sun. Her bags in his hands, he smiled at her. "I parked off the property, sorry for the walk" he said. She was suspicious of the smile, "What are you smiling about? Did you bring Kiki with you?" she teased. "I brought something" he said as they stepped past the gate. That's when the other girl came into view, leaning on the car. Juliette dropped her backpack right then and there and started running.
Stevie kept wiping her hands on her pants, they were all clammy from the nerves. Good nerves, of course. This was the first time she was seeing Juliette in months, nothing was going ruin this moment for them. "Sounds good." she answered Montag with a single nod. "And thanks, seriously." she said with a genuine smile. She had no idea how she would repay everyone for what they were doing, but she'd find a way eventually. Times like these made her realize how incredible the people around her were. As she waited, Stevie leaned against the car and played with her little J necklace. Her heart was racing. It's like she was meeting perchancetodream in person all over again. Once Juliette was in sight, Stevie's smile couldn't get any wider. She opened her arms for Juliette as she ran up to her, wrapping her arms around the girl and swinging her around before giving her a deep kiss. Their first public kiss (minus twisted tuesdays, but that was different). To some people it wouldn't mean a lot, but to Stevie it did. She wanted the whole world to know that she was Juliette's girlfriend. "I've missed you so much, Hastings."
Montag smiled, "Go get her" he said before she started to run. Montag picked up the bags and got in the van and the lot headed off to the airbnb, Rose and Marina looking out the window to see the two embrace. Their collective awwwww filled the car fully. Before Juliette knew it, her feet were off the ground as she was spun around by her favorite person in the entire world. Their lips locked, and Juliette felt completely free. There was no harm to be done by them being seen, it was just for them without all the weight and baggage. "I've missed you!!" said Juliette enthusiastically as she put her hands on either side of Stevie's face. "I can't believe it, you're actually here!! I can't believe you all surprised me like this!!" she said as she gave Stevie a little kiss on the nose, completely on her tippy toes to get there. "I am the luckiest girl in the entire world, Stevie Summers" she said, the name flowing off her lips sweeter than honey. She couldn't even believe it, it all felt like a dream. Taking her hands off Stevie's face wasn't even something she could conceptualize, she was worried that the other girl would disappear.
The months they weren't together should have been easier. They had talked to each other on the internet for two years, but once Stevie had Juliette in person, how could she go back? It was harder than she expected, but they made it work, which wasn't a surprise to Stevie. She would do anything for Juliette, no hesitation. Plus, the wait just made this moment even sweeter. "Well I had to make our reunion a big deal. Besides, I couldn't wait any longer to see you. Speaking of seeing you, are you fucking kidding me? Talk about making an impression. This might be my favorite dress yet." Juliette was always sending her outfit pics, but to see her in person with this outfit. It hit different. Hearing her name come out of Juliette's mouth was something she'd never get over. "We got a whole thing planned out for the weekend, it's gonna be great." she nodded over to everyone in the cars. "But right now, you and I get some alone time. We got a lot of catching up to do."
Juliette blushed, and she was just ... beaming. She couldn't help but smile, and she did love a compliment. She did a little twirl for the girl and posed for a second before getting right back up into her personal space. She didn't want there to be more than an inch between them at all times. "I can't believe I thought I was wasting this outfit on Monty and a nice dinner" she said with a laugh. Juliette wiggled her eyebrows, "catching up? Is that what the kids are calling it these days?" she said as she waved to the cars. They all took that as a sign to hit the road, and they started driving away. "Did you bring a whole platoon with you? Is everybody here?" Juliette asked, her smile still shining bright. All the people she loved had come to see her, enough to fill more than one car. It was so amazing, Stevie was so amazing. "I am just so happy that you are here, don't tell the others ... but you're my favorite human of all time." Juliette moved in to hug her, putting her head on the other girl's chest, squeezing tightly to make sure it wasn't all a dream.
"If you were going wear this just to hang out with Thaddeus, I can't imagine what else you got up your sleeve." Stevie told the girl with a smile on her face. Juliette never missed a beat when it came to the clothes she wore. "Woah, Hastings. I just wanted to catch up over some lunch. What did you have in mind?" she teased her girlfriend. Stevie of course had some things up her sleeve later on in the night for Juliette, but for now, she wanted to talk. "Yep the band's all here. Plus Chase, Jonah, their girlfriends, and your brother's girlfriend and boyfriend... question mark? You know what I mean." she said with a chuckle. "We're also gonna give you a pretty sick performance, just for you." Stevie couldn't wait to perform for Juliette. Whenever they did gigs back home, Stevie would only see Juliette in the crowd. She was playing just for her. But this time it was special. She had a new song and of course wanted to perform Perchance to Dream. That was only for special occasions. Stevie took Juliette's hand and walked her over to the car, opening up the passenger door for her. "Don't tell them either, but I'm mostly here for you. They're fun and all, but you are my favorite."
"I have a few going out to eat outfits, but I am not prepared to see you at all! I thought I was going to be lounging around and eating all weekend!" said Juliette, thinking over what she had in her suitcase. She had packed for a little bit of everything, just because Montag really went with the flow of whatever mood he was in. She had a swim suit in there, and a heavier jacket, pretty much everything under the sun. "Summers!" she whined when Stevie teased her about how they were going to spend time together and Juliette shoved her girlfriend lightly. When Stevie mentioned Montag's situation she laughed, "just don't think about it too hard. I don't think they know what it is, only that they would have separation anxiety if he were to come without them." Juliette looked at Stevie when she was talking about how the band was going to perform, and Juliette let out a squeal. It was everything she had ever wanted. She spent so much time showing Florence videos of the Striking Vipers preforming, and to get to see it in person again? Oh it was just the best thing in the entire world. Stevie opened up the car door for her and Juliette gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, "are you sure you don't want me to drive?" she joked.
"You have the cutest outfits. Even your pajamas are cute." Stevie reassured Juliette even though she knew how her girlfriend was about the clothes she wore. "But we can always go shopping around the city. You could pick an outfit out for both of us, my treat." Stevie was pretty curious on what kind of outfit Juliette would pick out for her. Even though they both dressed very differently, she trusted her girlfriend's sense of style. "Damn boarding school really has changed you, huh?" she continued to tease Juliette. "But I'll see if I can squeeze in some more private time with you later on. Don't wanna leave you unsatisfied." Stevie would be lying if she said she wasn't excited to have her girlfriend all alone. She nodded as Juliette explained Montag's situation with Camilla and Kiran. She was pretty much used to it at this point. "You driving?" she asked after smiling from the kiss she received. "I love you so much, but I want to keep living." she joked before kissing her girlfriend's forehead and heading to the other side of the car. "So how's everything been here? How's Florence doing? No pretty girls I should be seeing as competition?" she asked with a grin as she began to drive them out into the city. Stevie and Juliette constantly talked over discord, so she knew a bit about what was going on here.
"Your treat? That's not how this works at all. In lieu of psychological damages on you and me, this treat will be falling purely on my parents" said Juliette looking up at her girlfriend, "and while we are at it, lunch too." Juliette was not going to take no for an answer on that front, she was sure of it. Jules scrunched her nose when Stevie continued to tease her about one on one time, "you tease me, but I'm going to be a very happy camper waking up next to you for the next few days." God, that really was the dream. They had had a few sleepovers, but they hadn't been able to be that close all the time. This was going to be the most amazing weekend ever, she could feel it. "That's a compelling argument" said Juliette as she got kissed on the forehead, "I would also like you to keep living." She got in and buckled her seat belt, "Flo is good, she's been great honestly" Juliette said with a kind smile, "and I have been blind the whole time I have been away from you. Only ugly people on this campus, except for Florence, but she knows I'm a taken woman." She had only physically talked to Florence anyways, and a few teachers, and one janitor who always started conversations. She kept her social interactions ... very very limited.
The moment Juliette mentioned her parents, Stevie raised a brow and pointed at the girl. "Ahh, I see you. How generous of them. So sweet." she joked, it was time Juliette's parents treated them for once. It wasn't going to make up for everything they did, but spending their money was good enough for her. It was well deserved. "I do miss our sleepovers." Stevie mentioned with a smile. It was only for a weekend, but she'd allow herself to pretend they were in their own little world, living with her girlfriend. Waking up to her by her side, cooking each other breakfast. It was perfect. Stevie smiled as Juliette mentioned that Florence was doing good. She was glad Juliette had found someone she connected with so much. Hopefully having Florence there made everything a little more easier for her. "Same here, completely blind. Girls? Haven't seen them in a while. I only know of Juliette Hastings." she chuckled under her breath, hoping Juliette didn't think she was flirting around while she was away. Her brain was constantly on Juliette mode. Once they got to a shopping center, Stevie parked the car and got out to open Juliette's door. "You might know this place better than I do. Lead the way, babe." Stevie held out her hand for Juliette to grab with a huge smile on her face.
Juliette smiled, but it was soft and a tinge melancholy. "Our sleepovers are the best" she replied, biting her lip a little out of nervousness. This weekend had a lot riding on it, it was going to have to tide them over again for a while. She just missed seeing Stevie in the hallways, drinking milkshakes at the diner and her dealing with the fact that Juliette ate her fries with a fork and knife, watching the band perform. She missed all of it. But she missed her the most, just being in a room with her. Juliette felt comforted that Stevie was truly and fully still off the market. Everything about Stevie was desirable, and she was a little worried about people knowing that they had been dating in secret. She had heard from Gabrielle that basically the whole school knew, so hopefully that marked the territory enough. She had complete trust in Stevie, especially knowing about how she had been cheated on before. Also, they were in the kind of love that was so all consuming that it hardly ever even dawned on Juliette. She was mostly jealous that other people got to look at the girl in the flesh on a daily basis. She was jealous of Wren for taking pictures with her, she was jealous of Gabrielle for getting to spend time with her, she was jealous of anyone who got to breath the air that she breathed. But she wasn't jealous of anyone trying to get close to Stevie the way Juliette was. No human beings had ever stood so close to another's soul as they had. "That's good to hear, but we both know the only person I'm jealous of is me" she teased, referencing back to how ridiculous Juliette had been. But don't worry, next time they talk about that she will have the ego of Chanel Hampton about it. Once they arrived, Stevie opened the door for her and put out her hand, god this woman was amazing. "I have seen stuff on tik tok about this area, but I haven't been here" she said as she held the other girl's hand and hugged on her arm. "I think thrifting is definitely for us" she said as they started to walk down the street. It felt so good to be holding onto her, like she couldn't float away. "So I'm picking out things for you, and you're picking out things for me? And don't make me look ridiculous, Summers. That's a warning. I know your thought process. If she hates it she'll want to take it off, but I want to look good for you" she said pouting a little to show that she was just being funny.
Stevie let out a drawn out sigh once Juliette mentioned being jealous of herself, followed by a small smile. It felt so long ago that all of that happened, but Stevie remembered it so vividly. Being around Juliette felt like being home, and she couldn't understand why. From their first in-person conversation, the day Juliette interviewed her, Stevie could tell the other girl was meant to be in her life. Of course at that time, she only thought their relationship would be platonic, but as time went on, she got more and more confused. Sometimes Stevie would feel so stupid for not figuring it all out sooner. Sometimes she questioned whether Juliette was perchancetodream, but then she'd shut it down pretty quickly. But the instant connection they had in person just solidified what Stevie had thought throughout the two years she talked to the nameless person on the internet. No matter how they met, no matter who she was, Stevie and her were always meant to cross paths. They were simply meant for each other. Nothing would change that. The moment Juliette hugged her arm, Stevie bent down a bit to kiss her girlfriend's cheek. She'd keep this moment with her forever. The two girls being able to show how unapologetically in love they were. Being silently in love with Juliette Hastings was perfectly fine. As long as she had Juliette, she was okay. But some people didn't understand the pure joy that came from a public display of affection when you had to hide your relationship. Juliette didn't deserve to be hidden. "I was thinking the same thing." Stevie nodded in agreement to the suggestion of thrifting. She was a little nervous to pick something out for Juliette. Sure, she knew her girlfriend's style, but she also knew her standards were high when it came to clothes. It's not like there was any pressure being put on Stevie, but she needed to make sure the outfit would hit the mark. "Look, I'll try my best not to make you look like a fool but I can't make any promises." she teased Juliette. "Besides, I don't see anything wrong with you taking some clothes off, as long as I'm in the dressing room with you. Or is dressing room hook ups just a little too scandalous for you, miss mayor's daughter?" she said softly in her girlfriend's ear.
When Stevie leaned down to kiss her on the cheek, Juliette looked up to her and smiled. Her eyes creasing a little in the corners as it happened, she was just radiating joy to be here with here. To be anywhere with her. "I know you'll pick something great" Juliette had absolute faith in Stevie. There had been a lot of focus on her outfits throughout their time together, Juliette always kicking things up a notch around her just to see that Stevie smile when she looked her best. That Stevie smile gassed her up like nothing else, and god the compliments were worth getting out of bed for, on their own. There was nothing more affirming than Stevie complimenting her. When Stevie suggested a dressing room hook up Juliette shoved her a little to be playful, "Stevieeee" she said, feigning shock. "I am not going to spend my first day with you in months getting a citation for public indecency" Juliette had to laugh at the whole thing. "If you wanted to get your hands on me, then you shouldn't have taken me out in public" the girl taunted, knowing that they had many many more hours to spend together. Sure, some of it would be around other people ... but they would find time. Plenty of time. "Plus, I want to see your face at the outfit reveal, and if you get to watch then there's no element of surprise" she was going to insist on having to see her face when she came out of the dressing room. She knew she would lock those memories up tight forever. The two girls headed into the thrift store that Juliette had heard a lot about and Juliette squeezed her hand before letting go, "I am gonna go to the men's section for a moment and see what it has to offer for you. So go and be free, wander around. See if there's anything that screams Hastings" she said with a wink.
Stevie let out a small laugh once Juliette nudged her. Though she would never turn down something like that, she wasn't completely serious about it either. She just wanted to get Juliette's reaction and it was exactly what she was expecting. Sweet, innocent Juliette Hastings. The hold she had on Stevie. "The first night we had ever spent together ended with you on beer bong table. If anything, this is way more private than that night." she continued to tease her as she brought up homecoming night. That night would always stick with her, especially the after party. "I just wanted everyone to see how gorgeous my girlfriend is. If anything, it's your fault for being so damn beautiful." she said before giving her a quick kiss on the lips. "But I do love a good reveal, so I promise to be on my best behavior." Stevie took a quick look around the thrift store before looking down at Juliette. She was excited to see what her girlfriend was going to pick out for her. She knew the girl wouldn't disappoint. "I'll do my best. I know you will." she saluted her before heading straight the the skirts. Juliette loved her skirts, everyone knew that, but then she noticed a nice, form fitting plaid dress and it just screamed Juliette. After a few minutes, she found a white turtleneck that seemed to go nice with the dress. As she walked back to Juliette, Stevie noticed an outfit that was more for herself, but why not throw it in and see if she could get her girlfriend to try it on. Sure it was jeans and a loose, button up shirt, but it was cute to Stevie. "Alright. I got a few options. You gotta try them all on though, even if you may or may not like them. Just trust me." she said as she flashed her teeth at the girl.
Juliette smiled at the mention of the beer pong table, that kiss lived in her mind completely rent free. She thought about it way more than even she was willing to admit. Then Stevie was calling her beautiful, this day could end now and she would be happy with what she had gotten out of it. Obviously, she wanted so much more. But it was the little things that just made today so fulfilling already. Juliette sauntered off to the men's section, but was dismayed at the lack of good floral shirts, so she made her way back to the girl's side of things and she saw a fun skirt. This could be fun, seeing her in a skirt even for a few minutes. She picked out a fun t-shirt to go with it, keeping things casual for Stevie's sake. Then she went over and found a cute top, something a little less out of Stevie's comfort zone but she knew it would be so flattering on her figure. Juliette picked up the things and held them in her arms, getting distracted by all the options. She went with her gut though, and found Stevie walking around the store. "I also have a few options for you" she replied, knowing that there'd be a funny option and a serious option. She hoped the girl would like the shirt though, "same to you, just trust the process" she said, beaming at her. The girls traded clothes, "I will see you in a minute." Juliette headed into the changing room and put on the jeans and top option, smiling at how they were trading places for a minute, "you're putting on the skirt one first, right?" Juliette called out between the two rooms, "ready?" she asked once she was fully changed.
Stevie was excited to see what Juliette had picked out for her, but after they gave each other the clothes they picked, she immediately noticed the skirt. She instantly smiled to herself and knew she had to try this on first. A treat from her girlfriend, but a treat for her girlfriend as well. It was nice to know that they came up with the same idea to bring one serious outfit and one ... not so serious. Stevie was down to experiment though, and she had to admit, the skirt Juliette picked out was cute. "Oh of course, and you're putting on the jeans right?" she asked as she put the outfit on. Once everything was on, she took one more look in the mirror and nodded to herself in approval. "Okay, ready." Stevie pulled away the dressing room curtains and walked out to see Juliette in the outfit, her smile couldn't get any wider. "Even in jeans you're still fucking gorgeous. Goddamn." she teased the girl and checked her out a bit. "I would say that outfit is a win." she stated with a proud smile. Stevie of course would approve of the outfit, it was pretty much something she'd wear herself. "Now how do I look? Not to toot my own horn, but I think my legs look kinda nice." Stevie did a small spin and chuckled under her breath, "Was that your plan all along, Hastings?"
Juliette laughed at her reflection before she stepped out of the dressing room, "I look so incredibly gay right now" she replied when Stevie said the outfit was a win, "not a bad thing, just very ... wow" said the girl. But she couldn't help but stare at Stevie's long legs, "my long legged ladyyy" said Juliette with a huge smile on her face as she checked out Stevie for a minute as she spun around, "spin again, I heard you wouldn't" said the girl, teasing her a little, "people have been talking, they said so." Juliette just wanted to see her spin again, she was so pretty. Beautiful, enchanting, her girlfriend. All words that could describe Stevie Summers. Juliette smiled as she headed back into the changing room and put on the next outfit, "hey can you come and zip me up?" she called out as she got the other outfit on. The zipper was a little finicky, and she would enjoy Stevie coming into her changing room with a good excuse for a second.
"Fuck yeah you do, babe." Stevie said with a relaxed smile on her face, trying to take in the sight before it was over. She loved Juliette in her skirts and dresses, but who knew when she'd ever see a tiny Stevie again? When Juliette said to spin again, she raised a brow and laughed, "People, huh? Guess I can't disappoint the fans." She did one more little spin for the girl before they both went back into their dressing rooms. Stevie was already finishing up when Juliette called out for her, a smirk forming on her face after hearing that the girl needed help zipping up her dress. "Of course." she spoke sweetly before leaving her dressing room and going into her girlfriend's, "Is this your way of telling me you had a change of heart?" she whisper in the girl's ear, referring to when Stevie joked about a dressing room hook up. She looked over at Juliette's reflection while she helped zip up the dress and smiled to herself. Her girlfriend was stunning. "You like it? I think you look incredible, and I think it fits your style."
Juliette giggled a little when she asked Stevie to spin again and she did it, "I really do have you whipped don't I?" she added, her smile still plastered on her face. When she was trying to get her dress zipped up and she asked Stevie to come in, her heart started to flutter a little. It was in full palpitation as her girlfriend whispered in her ear, looking at the two of them in the mirror together. Stevie always towered over her, but she felt closer to the girl than ever. "You know me so well" said the girl, taking Stevie's hands and wrapping them around her from behind. "You know me better than anyone" Juliette could feel herself about to cry from happiness. But she held it in, turning around in the girl's arms and giving her a soft kiss. "Also you look so amazing, and also also I am buying all four of these outfits. Whose to say I won't steal your style?" she teased with a smile. She pulled out the amex she was given and waved it around, "they can eat their hearts out, me and my girlfriend are going to be the best dressed of all time." Juliette was so happy to be here with Stevie, "will you unzip me before you head out?" she asked as she turned back around to look at their reflection again. She loved seeing them side by side, it just felt so good to be in the same space.
As Juliette took Stevie’s arms to wrap around her body, Stevie stepped a bit closer until her body was pressed up against the girl’s and nuzzled her face into the crook of her girlfriend's neck, placing a soft kiss on her skin. She missed having Juliette around here. There was a special kind of comfort whenever she was around her. Her gentle presence soothed Stevie. She was so used to a loud, almost hectic environment because of her parents, and though she loved them, she also appreciated taking a step back from it all to relax. Juliette was that breath of fresh air. Stevie smiled at her girlfriend in the mirror when she said she knew her so well. All Stevie wanted was to learn as much as possible about Juliette, ever since their time on the internet. She smiled against the girl's lips as they kissed, "And ditch the skirts? You would never." she teased. "But I was a fan, maybe I'll start wearing more skirts. Who knows. Maybe you'll start getting skirt pictures from me." Stevie laughed as the girl waved the card in the air, "Juliette Hastings, I didn't know you were such a rebel. What have those boarding school girls done to you?" She then nodded as a response and started to unzip the dress, leaving a small trail of kisses down her spine. Stevie was just a little too tall to make it so far down Juliette's body without bending over too much. "Alright, I'll see you in a sec." she winked at the girl as she exited the room and went into her own to get dressed into her clothes.
"I would die at a skirt picture, but I also love your style. You know that" said the girl, wanting to be affirming of her usual Stevie. Those outfits that made her heart race when she saw her. Things that were so obviously Stevie. The girl she loved so very much. Juliette laughed, "I'm a rebel with a cause." She just wanted to make sure they had the most fun physically possible this weekend, and she was more than happy to make sure her parents bankrolled their good time. The kisses down her spine made her shiver at the touch, she just felt so deeply seen by Stevie. That she was loved for all of her: mind, body, and soul. She blushed at the wink and quickly got changed back into her other outfit, ready to see Stevie again already. She folded up the clothes she was going to buy and headed out of the dressing room. They finished up and Juliette bought the clothes and a pair of fun sunglasses before they headed out with the bags, "Where to next?" she asked as she reached out and held the girl's hand again. "I will go absolutely anywhere with you." Juliette ran her thumb over the girl's hand as their fingers were intertwined. She really would go anywhere with her, spending time with her was the greatest gift of all time.
"Maybe if you're lucky enough, I'll slide you a picture after spring break. Who knows?" Stevie chuckled, though it was nice to hear that someone with such great style like Juliette liked Stevie's. "Can't believe I'm witnessing another segment of mayor's daughter goes wild. Not gonna lie, it's kinda hot." she teased her girlfriend. Anything Juliette did was attractive to Stevie, let's be real. Once they were out of the thrift store, she took her bag with one hand and held the girl's hand with the other. "I looked some places up and saw there was some nice art we could check out. But not before we get some food of course." If Stevie was already getting a little hungry, she couldn't imagine how Juliette was feeling. She was always snacking. "You in the mood for anything specific? Or we can always wing it. Go to the first spot we see."
Juliette's stomach had been growling for a little while now, but she had been so distracted by Stevie's presence that she honestly was not thinking about food. Her eyes sparkled at the mention of food, "I am always hungry" she said with a little laugh as she pulled up their held hands and gave Stevie's hand a small kiss, "whatever you'd like, or whatever we find is good by me. I will eat anything and everything." The two girls continued down the street a little before they passed a cute little american dining establishment, "here seems perfect" said the girl as she pulled the other girl in. "Our first public date" Juliette said quietly with a little squeal. It felt so good to be parading around town with her girlfriend. "Table for two please, by the window" she said to the hostess. She wanted to people watch, and she wanted people to watch her and Stevie. The two girls sat across from each other and Juliette quickly scanned the menu, "let's start with fried pickles for sure." Juliette looked across the table at Stevie, she was so beautiful. "Have I told you today just how pretty you are? Because you are the most beautiful person I have ever seen" she said as she reached across the table to hold her hand.
Stevie's smile couldn't possibly get any wider once Juliette brought up that this was their first public date. "It's really come full circle now." She was referring to the fact that their first time hanging out in person was at the diner back home. Where Juliette ate her fries with a fork and knife. It's was adorable. Once they were seated, Stevie opened up a menu for herself and nodded in agreement with her girlfriend, "Hell yeah." Juliette's compliments never got old, it was like she was hearing them for the first time. She squeezed the girl's hand gently and smiled, "Oh stop, you're gonna make me blush in front of all these people. How embarrassing." she said jokingly. "Besides, the real beauty is sitting right in front of me. I know I told you that you'd get even more beautiful before you came out here but you didn't have show off like this." she teased. "You're pretty much the whole package. Minus the driving skills, but that's where I come in. We make a pretty great duo, huh?"
Juliette herself blushed at Stevie saying she was going to blush, it was contagious. "My bet that you were going to be more gorgeous? No, I think I definitely won" said Juliette as she poured them both water. "I totally have driving skills, no one said they had to be good" she teased kindly. It felt so amazing to be seated across from her, it felt like it was never going to get old. Then she remembered that this was only for the weekend, and her heart hurt a little. But she decided to live in the moment, and the moment was good. "So what are our plans for tonight?" Juliette inquired. She knew Stevie couldn't help but whip up something good, and if not her ... then Wren, Kyle, and Rose most definitely did something for the two of them. They were good friends like that.
Stevie could feel the butterflies in her stomach when Juliette said she was more gorgeous now. Eventually the honeymoon phase fades away, but she felt like it never did when she was with Juliette. Being away from her for this long only made being with her right now even more special. Juliette could just look her in the eyes long enough, and she'd melt. "You know what? That is true. You do have the skill, serving out of lanes. That's something." she said with a laugh. "So we might have a performance for you. I mean it's for everyone, but let's be real, it's mainly for you. Just don't tell Chase or Jonah that. They might get all sulky." she whispered as if it were some kind of secret. "We got some drinks before leaving, so you could go as crazy as you want." Stevie always found it funny how much of a lightweight Juliette was. "But after, I have a surprise for you.
Juliette smiled, "I'm sure they will not be heartbroken that it's mostly for me. But you brought like a whole bus full of people. The place we're staying must be insane to house everyone and their everyones" said the girl, her face creasing around her eyes from smiling so hard. "I think I'll take it easy, I want to remember everything. One drink won't send me falling over. But to be fair, I haven't had any alcohol since I got here. So don't hold me to the not falling over thing". Hearing that Stevie had a surprise for her was very exciting, "A surprise? But you being here is the surprise! I don't have anything to give you except for time, and love, and affection. You should have warned me!" said the girl. She was happy that it had been a surprise, because she would have talked Florence into an early grave by never shutting up about Stevie coming. She also would have gotten so nervous she probably wouldn't have even been able to snack, which was a crime.
"You're gonna love it. Wren and Rose picked it out, and you know Rose, she's gonna get the best place possible. We all pitched in, but it did help that Gabrielle's family is fucking loaded." Everyone was pretty well off, so money was never an issue when it came to people in Hastings. Stevie let out a small laugh as Juliette mentioned that she hadn't drank the whole time she was in Washington. "Don't worry, I'll make sure we won't get as wasted as we did that one time at the club." she referred to, the one and only, Twisted Tuesday. "I'll also make sure to catch you if you fall over. Don't worry, babe, you're in good hands." she said with a relaxed smile. "Getting your time, love, and affection? That's a gift in itself. Who knew I was so lucky? But I think you'll enjoy this." Stevie had written Juliette a song while she was away and thankfully, she had finished it up right before this roadtrip was set up. "We could also finish what we started a while back." she spoke slowly, not trying to be too direct. Not only were they in public, but the memory of their almost-first time was ruined quite a bit. "If you want of course, no pressure. Seriously. I'm just glad I'm with you right now."
Juliette squealed quietly, she was just so excited that everyone was here. All of her people, "I cannot wait to see it, and I'm sure the view is amazing." She hoped Stevie didn't put much money into this trip, that would make her feel really bad. Juliette assumed that their friends had hopefully and respectfully taken care of everything. "I'm sure I'll think of some way to repay the gift. I have time and a credit card, and Gabrielle and Marina. I will have to spend time with them, and also Jonah" said the girl, selfishly she wanted to spend all of her time with Stevie. But she missed her friends too and she knew she would regret it. Juliette knew that her girlfriend wasn't trying to be direct, she was so cute and casual. But Juliette had been thinking about what they started nonstop since they were rudely interrupted and lives were destroyed, "Of course I want to finish what we started, or what didn't get started. Trust me, I am beyond ready. Not to be aggressive about it, but I am not interested in being timid. I am so in love with you, and if that means being assertive for the first time in my entire life. I am going to do it." Juliette's cheeks felt like they were on fire as she rambled. She had never been so clear, but this was very important.
"No need, you've been through a lot." Stevie shook her head. Yes, they were both dealing with the long distance, but Juliette truly got the short end of the stick here. She was glad her girlfriend had met a friend like Florence, but the idea of her being shipped off to a boarding school pained her every time she thought of it. "Besides, what more could I ask for? I have you, right here right now. Everything's perfect." she said, looking deeply into the other girl's eyes. "Oh forsure, they've all missed you like crazy. Jonah had mentioned how sitting in silence with other people just doesn't feel the same? Probably because there's no such thing as sitting in silence when he's around Chase all the time." she chuckled. "I'll chill with Wren and Rose, even though he'll probably be with Chanel most of the time." Stevie was just so glad they all got to hangout together as a big group. They usually did these kind of things pretty often, but it never felt right when Juliette wasn't there. Stevie smiled at her girlfriend, she of course didn't mind how this night would turn out, but she wanted Juliette so bad, especially after being so close beforehand. "No, be as aggressive as you want. I love when you try to give off top energy." she nodded. "All jokes aside though, I really love you. So much. I'll make sure the night is perfect."
Chase being quiet was a funny thing to think about, "I'm sure he intends to be quiet and then just starts talking out of nowhere" she said with a little laugh. She wasn't super excited that Chanel was here, but she knew that this trip was about her and Stevie. Wren would keep her occupied enough, and there were plenty of both of their friends here. Juliette had to laugh, "top energy? Don't be getting any ideas about how intense I'm being right now, I know I'll be back to my timid bottom energy the second we're behind closed doors and all thoughts of talking big game are going to be out the window." She smiled when Stevie said she loved her and wanted to make the night perfect, "There's no such thing as perfect, I'm just going to be happy to be there with you. Just remember that I love you and even though I don't know what I'm doing, I am still very very cute." The two ate their lunch and had a wonderful montage worthy time of laughing and smiling and complimenting. Everything you could want out of a first date, and Juliette paid before the two of them were off again. //TBC

clueless girls || juliette and chanel
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍: their dorm room // early march 2021.
𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: juliette x chanel.
𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒: none.
𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒: two heartbroken girls and one favorite movie.
After a day of thinking way too much, Juliette turned on the TV in their room while Chanel was out. She put on 1995's Clueless, one of her favorite comfort movies. Juliette sat on the edge of her bed in her match set pj's and plaited her hair into two small french braids before putting on a face mask. She did her best to focus on the movie, and pulled out a full sized carton of ice cream out of their shared mini fridge and freezer. She had just gotten fully comfortable when Chanel came in, she looked like she always looked to be back in the room ... mildly upset. Juliette figured she also didn't go to the Striking Viper's show. "Avoiding the show too?" she asked quietly, "you can watch clueless if you want, I don't mind restarting it." Juliette and Chanel had never really gotten along, but it was okay to call a truce from time to time.
If this was any other weekend, Chanel would be going out to some party and having the time of her life, but after her previous night with Wren, all she wanted to do was lay around in her room and do absolutely nothing. Being alone with Juliette was never a fun option, but she didn't care right now. She was too mentally drained to do anything. Once she opened the door, she heard the faint noise of Clueless playing from their tv. It was one of her favorite movies, probably number two to Snow Dogs. It always put her in a good mood. "Hm? Oh yeah, way too awkward to see them." she answered with a sad smile. Why were these two girls always stuck in the same situations? "I could never turn down Clueless, it's like one of my favorite movies." she said before quickly changing into some comfy clothes and hopping onto her bed. "Have you talked to her recently?" she asked, hoping it wasn't too sore of a subject. Chanel only knew what Wren had told her back when they were together.
She was surprisingly comfortable with Chanel in the room at this point. She didn't think they would ever get there. "It's a comfort movie of mine, along with the book it's based on" said Juliette as she tossed the closed face mask pot over onto Chanel's bed. "I have been pretending that I don't go here, so no ... I have not" said Juliette looking down a little. She put her hand on the back of her neck, "and she is seeing someone now. So it would be weird if I showed up. Not that I expect her to want to date me again ... but it would be hard to be just friends" the girl explained. When she was ready for it, having Stevie be in her life was the most important thing to her. They didn't need to date to maintain that strong bond between them. She just wanted to be able to be in the same room as her, "Have you talked to Wren?" she asked as she dug into her icecream.
"Emma, right? Laurie used to tell me about that before," Chanel paused, mentally curing herself for using the nickname. Not in front of other people, especially Juliette. "he loves anything Jane Austen." she continued on with a nod before grabbing the face mask pot and opening it up to apply some. Once she had the face mask on, she passed the pot back to Juliette and looked at her with narrowed eyes. Sometimes she wanted to hide away from Wren, but then her chaotic side would come out, and she wanted him to see how good she was doing ... even if she wasn't doing so great. He didn't have to know that though. "I get that, I guess I kinda feel the same way." she shrugged her shoulders, referring to the fact that it would be hard to just be friends with her ex. "You should get yourself out there, though. Maybe she'll see you and totally fall all over again." she said with a smile. "Yeah, once. Or twice technically, oh no three times." she shook her head. "Once because we totally got Parent Trapped, second time over text, third time just us in person. No parent trapping, but I definitely fucked up. Typical Chanel."
"Oh he's a Jane Austen fan? I would not have guessed that ... like at all" said Juliette, confused honestly. He was just so ... jockish. She enjoyed him, she thought he was funny and she knew that Stevie loved him. But she guessed she never really took the time to get to know him with all the secrecy involved in their relationship. "It's hard, existing" said Juliette awkwardly, "like in the same place" she added to make her statement a little less weird. "Yeah, I ran out of the room when I saw her. I definitely feel you on messing up. But I'm sure we can both bounce back from it, at least you will. You're Chanel Hampton" said the girl with a soft smile and a shrug. She meant it. Typical Chanel Hampton was having everything handed to you, at least that was Juliette's perspective. "Do you think you two are going to be friends? Or get back in the swing of things?" she asked, curious as to what her intentions were. If she had things her way, she would be intending to get back together with Stevie. That is if the two of them hadn't changed too much for each other. But that was not the reality. The reality was that she was not dating someone, but definitely thinking about it. The window was closing quickly, and she was way too much of a whimp to do anything about it.
"Oh yeah, I can't tell you how many times he's read Pride and Prejudice." Chanel thought about how cute Wren looked as he read. Just sitting there with his glasses on, so focussed in on the story. The sight itself relaxed her. She could definitely relate to Juliette's statement about existing in the same place as your ex, but existing in general? Maybe she could relate to that as well. Chanel would come off as some ungrateful bitch if she were to admit to that, she practically got everything she wanted. But she lived such a lonely life, it was numbing. She laughed under her breath once Juliette said how she was Chanel Hampton, because that was a good enough reason. It was to Chanel, at least. "And you're a Hastings. Seems like a lot of power to me." she said truthfully, matching the girl with a smile of her own. "I know I don't exactly know what happened between you two, but she seemed like she really cared about you." Chanel had been around the two when she was hanging out with Wren's band, and though she didn't see much, what she did see seemed sweet. "Uh, honestly? I don't know. I don't know if you ever like, heard what happened between us, but I wasn't exactly the most honest person to him. I don't think I can really recover from that." she admitted. It was weird to be this honest with Juliette, but something about their similar situations made Chanel feel comfortable enough to talk about it. "He always trusted me, no matter what. Even when I was a complete bitch, he saw.. me, you know? So to do something shitty enough to completely break his trust? To hurt him like that? I don't think I can come back from it."
Juliette thought it was sweet that he loved Jane Austen. There was probably a lot more to Wren than she knew, her time with Stevie and her friends had been cut dramatically short. She smiled when Chanel called her powerful, some days she forgot how similar they were underneath everything. Once you peeled back how they behaved in spite of their struggles ... there was a lot of emotion and circumstance that they shared. "I lied to Stevie before we got together, and she forgave me. I know it took time and a lot of love to do it, but being all in ... like me being all in, helped her see how honest I was being. Committed to change" said Juliette, even though she was caught in a tangle of lies again. These were lies of omission, but they were still lies. "I know what you mean about being seen. I felt like I was invisible until she saw me" said Juliette, taking another bite of icecream. She felt invisible here again, and she was hiding in the shadows. "I think he never stopped seeing you, I mean you fought his girlfriend like what, three times? and you two still got together" she reasoned.
"What did you lie about?" Chanel asked immediately, just to see if Juliette's lie was on the same level as hers. "Sorry, you totally don't have to tell me. I'm just being nosy, as usual." she shrugged her shoulders and went into their mini fridge to grab a snack. She thought about what Juliette said for a second, about being all in. Didn't Wren know she was all in? Wasn't Wren all in? It just seemed like the damage she caused was too severe. To know she hurt Wren that much, broke her inside. "Love sucks, and so does their band. They just had to be super sweet and super cute and musically talented too? Absolutely ridiculous." she said to keep the mood a little light. They were both stuck in shitty situations, but at least they were in it together...? Chanel laughed as she thought back on all the times she fought Valerie. "Three times." she repeated. "I should totally be mature about it now and say that it was something I deeply regret. But I still find it pretty funny. You ever been in a fight?" she asked with a smile, assuming the answer would be no.
"It's a really long story. But to sum it up ... we met on the internet and talked for two years, at first it was platonic and then it was not exactly platonic. Thing is it was all anonymous for a really long time, but at the end of it all I figured out who she was and told her I loved her online, and then proceeded to hook up with her in person -my identity still a secret- and subsequently got mad at her online for hooking up with someone else after I told her I loved her. Essentially I cat-fished her and accused her of two timing me with me" Juliette summated. It was a much deeper story than all of that, "It also happened around the time that Griffin passed, so I was pretty messed up in the head." Juliette had to laugh when Chanel said that the band sucked, because that was an obvious lie. She followed it up with the fact that they were super sweet, cute, and musically talented, "Yeah I don't know why the two of them have to be so perfect and then there's us. It's really inconsiderate" said Juliette, a smile cracking from behind the surface. She was happy that she had someone who understood everything and was in the same place. "I have not been in a fight, unless you count me versus nature. My parents made me live in the woods in the summers? They thought it would make me straighter? I don't really see how that works, but I do have mild survival skills now" said Juliette with a little shrug. The whole thing was ridiculous when she thought about it. It was best not to. "Imagine me in a fight though, someone could blow on me and I would be down for the count" she added as a laugh filled the room.
Chanel listened to Juliette's story with raised brows, it seemed like something straight out of a movie. She let out a laugh once the other girl brought up how she was mad that Stevie was two timing her with her. "I'm sorry, but that's pretty funny. Like if I was you, I would have made the biggest deal about it. But I'm just naturally a jealous, petty bitch. It can't be helped." she raised her shoulders. "I thought my story with Wren was like super cute, but yours is definitely one of a kind." It was a very interesting story, but also must have been pretty exciting. To have a place to go to where it was just the two of them, even if it was on the internet. The mention of Griffin did shock her a bit, but she tried to look unfazed. "Woah, are you saying we're not perfect? I'd say they're pretty lucky to have dated us. I mean, are they really gonna do any better than us? I like to tell myself that even if Wren is going off, hooking up with people, they're all basically downgrades from me. Makes me sleep better at night." she joked, or at least half-joked. Chanel wasn't sure how she'd do out in the woods. She would be able to wear cute outdoorsy clothes, but she'd also have to deal with bugs. Tragic. "Yeah, that really sucks what they did. You know, the whole boarding school thing, and sending you out in the woods. My dad threatened me with boarding school too once he ... found out." she said as she patted her stomach. "Like do boarding school have a no-gay, no-pregs force field over it? Hags are so weird." she shook her head as she ate her snack. "If someone threw a punch at you'd, I'd say you'd fly all the way back home. You're very light." she said with a smile.
"Right?? I felt crazy but totally right at the same time. Half of me wanted to make sure she liked the actual me without knowing that I was the girl online. The other half of me was really upset that she would even think about doing anything with me me when online me said I love you. It was a big personality split" she said with a laugh. Their story really was one of a kind. Juliette smiled when Chanel was complimenting herself and Juliette through that. "I wish I could say the same, but I did some social media recon with Chase earlier. I'm kind of screwed in that department. Major upgrade." Juliette shook her head. Even if she wanted to compete with Juniper, she couldn't. It just wasn't a fight she was going to win. She had heard about Chanel's pregnancy scare through keeping up with Gabrielle and Chase. Scandals just followed the two families around and never gave the Hastings or the Hamptons a break. Her comment about boarding school was funny though, "It was weird, I was way gayer at boarding school than I ever was at home. I think it was just getting me out of the public eye, Dad was doing his best to get re-elected and the elderly people don't care that he had an affair, but they would care if his kid is gay. Worst part is, of his gay children, I wasn't the one who was also a drug dealer and in a thruple. But that's just an opinion" said Juliette, laughing a little. Montag was a special one, and how he never got caught? That is a mystery. "Most definitely, they'll have to take me to the American Girl doll hospital if I'm ever in a fight" she said, laughing harder. She could hardly get the joke out.
"Oh my god, no. Your feelings? Super valid. I wasn't even dating Wren yet and got all super pissed about how he changed my name on his phone to 'Charlie H.' I think his ex felt threatened by me." she said with a proud smile. "But still, not cool. I hold grudges too. Like not super seriously, but I have thrown the Charlie H. thing in Wren's face randomly whenever we had stupid fights." she said with a laugh. She could never back down from a fight. She always needed to be right, or at least have the last word. "You can't think like that though. You just have to say she's a downgrade until you believe it. Like your outfits! You probably have a way better wardrobe than her." Chanel did appreciate Juliette's style, and if they were actually friends, she would for sure want to borrow some. The two girls seemed to have a lot in common, but one thing they definitely shared was pretty awful parents. But that was something they were very much aware of. "You meet anyone in boarding school? Any pretty girls caught your attention?" she asked as she wiggled her eyebrows. It was definitely new to hear Juliette mention the affair so casually. Chanel had brought it up to other people, mainly close friends whenever she felt like complaining, but to talk about it with another Hastings felt odd. She was relieved that it was something they could mention without there being too much tension. It's not like they were the ones that did anything wrong. They were just caught in the middle of it. "He clearly knows how to sneak around. Bless Lexi's heart, I don't know how she did it with those two. It seems like a fun time at least." she said with a smile. Chanel started to laugh again with Juliette once she made her last comment. "Maybe I could help you one day. I'm surprised Marina hasn't. She doesn't hold back."
Juliette and Chanel were laughing up a storm. This is probably the first good conversation they have ever had, and it was going ... surprisingly well. Obviously the days to follow were not all going to be this good, but this was a nice moment for them to share. Juliette pulled up the screenshots Chase had gotten for her on phone and got up out of her bed to show Chanel, "this is her, she seems ... cool. Something I utterly lack" said Juliette. She had no ill will towards the other girl, it just sucked that she had the one thing that Juliette wanted more than anything: time with Stevie. "I was in a tele-relationship for the rest of junior year, which was hard but awesome" said Juliette, "and then ... I spent the majority of the year turning people down because I wasn't ready." There had been options, though the pickings were slim, and none of them could compare at all. She just wasn't ready to let go and be with someone else, and it honestly made her prospects look even worse. "If I were the kind of person to get into things that would lead to fights, I'm pretty sure Marina would fight them for me" said Juliette with a smile. She did love her friend, she was always willing to defend her.
Chanel leaned over to the side, looking at the screenshots on Juliette's phone. There she was, the girl she had seen Stevie with. She definitely was pretty, but Chanel wouldn't bring that up now. What good would that do? "She's fine." she shrugged carelessly. "But you're super pretty, and I would not lie just to make you feel better." She couldn't imagine how difficult it must have been to do a long distance relationship. Chanel loved physical touch, it was her love language, but maybe she'd be able to do it. She didn't exactly want to find out though. "I don't know if it would make you feel any better, but Stevie never dated anyone senior year." Chanel noticed how sad Stevie became whenever she was hanging out with Wren's band. It's like she was a different person for a while. "I'd tell you to go find someone new, but I can't even take my own advice. The random hook ups barely help." she pouted. They helped in the moment, but once it was all over, Chanel was back to thinking about how much she missed Wren. "That is true. I like to do the fighting myself, but I am also the type to pick the fights."
Juliette knew the other girl was most definitely more than fine, but she wasn't going to push on that until Chanel told the whole truth. It was a kind thing to say to make her feel better. "Thanks" she said in reply to Chanel telling her that she was pretty. This really had been a good day for the two of them, actually getting along was nothing she ever imagined. "She didn't?" Juliette asked as she turned her head to the side. She assumed that she did and no one was going to tell her about it. "Someone new will find me when the time is right" Jules added with a shrug as she headed back to her own bed. Juliette turned her attention to the TV and laughed at one of her favorites scenes. Chanel laughed along too. Finally, the two had shared with one another and hadn't just completely hated the other out of circumstance. A growing pain for both of them, but most definitely worth it. //END

not an interrogation || wren and florence
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍: library // early march.
𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: wren x florence.
𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒: none.
𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒: wren meets florence for the first time, and the interrogation ensues.
Florence had about an hour before her next class, and since the Language Arts building was close to the library, she decided it was a good chance to check out a couple more books for the weekend. She had found out early in the semester that using this time to eat lunch made her more sluggish and sleepy by the time her French class started, so she quickly adjusted her schedule to have lunch after all her classes were finished around 2. Browsing through the children's literature section ( these books had some of the best plots and covered deep topics ), she stopped in front of the shelf with all the Newbery Medal winners, too engrossed in the titles to notice the person that had shown up next to her.
Wren was very fond of the library, it was nice and quiet. He also was in a developmental literature class and was working on a term paper, and to do that he needed many a book. Wren was making a beeline to The Snowy Day when he realized the blonde was in front of it. He knew he wanted to include it in his paper, it was one of his favorite books as a child, and one of the first children's book about a POC that won any kind of awards. Yes, it was written by a white person, but that could be ignored for the sake of the paper, and of course fond childhood memories. "Hey can I grab something real quick?" he said to the girl.
The sounds of someone’s voice startled Florence so much that she jumped, putting her hand over her heart. It was thumping so hard, she thought she might actually have to go to the nurse on campus. “Oh my God,” she said, looking over at the boy. She took a few deep breaths to calm down and stepped aside. “I’m so sorry. Yes, absolutely. What book are you getting?” she asked. She wondered if it was one she’d read before. “If you don’t mind me asking,” she quickly clarified.
"The Snowy Day I'm doing a term paper on it" said Wren as he crouched down to the caldecott winners and grabbed the book. "What are you doing in this section?" he asked with a kind smile. Wren self defined himself as very friendly, and he loved meeting new people. She seemed a little nervous from the way she was breathing, so he kept that warm smile on his face to make sure she was comfortable.
She tilted her head curiously. “Hmm. I haven’t read that one. What’s it about?” she asked. Maybe she would check it out when he was done with it. “Me? I’m here to find a new book or two to read. I go through at least one a week. These books are my favorite.” Her heart had settled back down by then, and she smiled back at him. He had a warm, friendly smile.
"Well it's not too entertaining for an older reader, it's a picture book" said Wren, "I'm focusing on young readers. But it's about a child in a red jacket on their snow day. The artwork is in quilting/patchwork style, and it's just really sweet" Wren picked it up off the shelf, "I applaud you on reading something new, I just reread pride and prejudice all the time or ready player one" that was if he was reading at all during the week. He usually just read for comfort when he needed to turn off all devices .
Florence chuckled. She hadn't realized it was a picture book. "That's an excellent point. It would probably take me all of five minutes to read. Sounds like a cute story, though. What class is it for?" she asked. She couldn't remember writing any papers about books like that, but if she had to guess, it was either an education class or literature of some sort. Florence had tested out of the required introduction literature class for English, so she hadn't had to take any last semester. She was just in composition now, but they didn't do any assignments like that. "Aren't those very different books? Quite the range. I also don't hear about many male Austen fans, so that's cool." She moved back to the shelf now that he had his book and scanned the remaining books with her finger before picking out Bud, Not Buddy. "I wouldn't say I read something new every time," she corrected him, holding up the book. "This is one of my favorites. I've already checked it out a couple times this year, and I read it in high school, too."
"It's a children's lit class, we're on early development right now" said the boy, "Education credit and english credit." Wren was a huge Austen fan, he watched pride and prejudice when he was an 8th grader and he fell in love with the enemies to lovers trope. He immediately read the book, not that he fully got it in the 8th grade. Since then, it's been a comfort read. "They are very different books, but I'm not really someone who branches out" said Wren, in every way possible, he was a comfort creature. "Oh yeah we read that in middle school, that's a good one for sure" said the boy with a friendly smile. He had enjoyed it, but required reading sometimes killed the vibe.
A children’s literature class sounded amazing. Now she wished she had taken it. “That sounds great. Do you like it? What have you read so far? What kind of range is it?” She laughed quietly at herself when she noticed she was rattling off questions. “Sorry, that was a lot.” She shrugged in response to his confession that he didn’t branch out. There was nothing wrong with that, and she told him exactly that. “We all have our comfort zones.” She just didn’t mention that hers was very much solid. She may branch out in the books she read, but everything else she did was routine and unchanging.
"It's still early in the semester" Wren explained, "so we're just on early childhood books and their impact and how to compose a children's book. So only picture books so far". He liked how excited she got about books, it was refreshing to see someone so into their school work and stuff that didn't even pertain to them. "You're good, I don't mind talking about my classes. Helps me get into them" he said, moving his hand to show it was no big deal. "I'm a big routine man myself, but my roommate is a spontaneous guy ... so we're growing and changing together" said Wren with a laugh, thinking about how little Jet stuck to a schedule in comparison to Wren.
"Good point. I'll try to ask again later in the semester if I see you again," Florence said. She wondered if she would see him again, or if this little library run-in was just a one time thing. The school was much larger than a high school, so it was certainly possible to not know people or see them once and then never again. She was enjoying talking about books with him, though. She brightened when he said he was into routines. "Really? I am, too. Well... a routine woman, but still," she rambled. "That's cool, though. You probably balance each other out. It's not quite the same thing, but my best friend is a little more flexible than I am, so she helps me get out more and meet new people."
"For sure, you can find me anytime, I'm Wren by the way" said the boy, realizing he had not introduced himself at all. They had just started making small talk. "My roommate is my best friend, so I feel that on a whole level" Wren replied, "It's good to find someone who gets you out of your comfort zone every once in a while. Helps me be a little bit less of a stick in the mud, personally." He didn't mean to cause any offense, but he got a lot of complaints from his friends back in California.
Florence winced. How had she forgotten to introduce herself? She mentally facepalmed. "I'm so sorry. I'm Florence," she said, holding out her hand. Was that too formal for this kind of introduction? It was kind of too late to withdraw her hand, though. That would make things weirder. "That's so cool that you're rooming with your best friend. Mine actually just transferred here, but we weren't able to room together, unfortunately. I don't really talk to my current roommate. Honestly, she's kind of intimidating." She wasn't sure why she was telling this stranger about it. Then the name clicked. "Wait... you said you're name's Wren?" she asked. There couldn't be that many Wrens walking around campus.
Wren smiled and shook her hand, he enjoyed the formality of it. He couldn't think of the last time anyone had shook his hand. Let alone another college student. "Well, I'm sure she will warm up to you eventually. There's a ... weird kind of intimacy when you share a room. At least that's what my Nana said about wanting me to sign up for a random roommate. But I didn't want to live with some asshole that I don't know. I'd rather live with an asshole that I do know" he replied with a laugh. He cocked his head to the side, "Yeah, Lawrence Bishop, Wren for short. I'm in a band, maybe that's where you've heard the name before" said the boy. He wondered how she had heard of him, maybe her intimidating roommate was Chanel.
She shrugged. She wasn't sure how to go about getting closer to her roommate, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to try. They were in a nice coexistence, so she was fine with that. "I understand that. I didn't know anyone here really, so I had to just wing it. Last semester was not my favorite, but I'm getting better. Plus, now I have my best friend with me again." She blinked. Yes, she was sure now that this was the same Wren that Juliette had told her about. As a good friend, maybe she should ask about Stevie. He really is the nice one, she thought. "Oh yeah. Are you in The Striking Vipers?"
Wren wondered for a minute who this friend was, he hadn't met anyone who had transferred in. But then again, it wasn't like he was going to know the girl. He didn't know Florence, so why would Wren know someone from her past? That didn't make any sense. "That's good to hear, I'm glad this semester is treating you right" he said kindly. "Striking Vipers, the one and only. Stevie is the mastermind behind it all, and Rosemary is our little star. I'm just there for moral support, and to keep the beat" said Wren humbly, "We wouldn't do anything if it wasn't for Stevie's passion for music, and Rose's ability to organize everything. She got me elected to student body president when I was a junior. That girl is ... terrifyingly organized" Wren explained.
"Yeah, same here," she agreed with a soft smile. "Hey, and now I can say that I've stepped out of my comfort zone and made a new friend. Well, if you're interested in a new friend." He was a nice guy, but he could just be acting polite and making conversation. "Yeah, I've heard about you guys. I haven't had a chance to see you perform yet, though. How do you all know each other? Stevie and Rosemary sound cool. You do, too, but I've got more firsthand experience there. So Rosemary is organized and the star, you keep the beat and were student body president... What about Stevie, other than being passionate for music? Sorry, I'm asking a lot again." She laughed awkwardly. She was rambling and trying to ask about Stevie without making it obvious that she just wanted to know about Stevie.
"Definitely new friends, you should bring your roommate around sometime. Everybody loves our shows" Wren replied, he liked this girl. She was nice and polite, and of course an avid reader. "Well, I went to Temple with Stevie as a kid. We've been friends ever since. Hebrew class really bonds people" said Wren, "and Rose has a great voice, so she had to be a part of it, but we went to school with her too." Wren heard her asking a lot about Stevie, but she seemed just as curious about everyone else. "Stevie is the backbone and the heart of it all. She's got this love for music that is unmatched by any other human walking on this earth. I know I'm talking her up a bunch, but she is sadly kind of off the market at the moment" said Wren, just covering all his bases. Sometimes when he talked Stevie up that much it had an effect on people, "But she might be one of the coolest people I have ever met. I am outrageously biased as one of her friends."
Florence grinned. She was glad to have a new friend. Hopefully Juliette wouldn't have a problem with that. From what she had heard, she still liked Wren but stayed away because of his connection to Stevie. Speaking of Juliette, her smile faltered just barely. "Oh, um, yeah, I'll ask her about it." She listened to Wren talk about his friendship with the two girls. She never would have guessed that he was Jewish, but it was sweet that he and Stevie had bonded over that so young. "Wow, that's a pretty deep passion. I don't even know if I'm that passionate about anything," she said, laughing a little. She had already heard all about Stevie's love of music and her talent for it from Juliette. Her eyes widened. "Oh! No, I'm not... I was just curious, that's all, but... what do you mean kind of? I thought someone was either on or off the market," she commented. "What about you? Now I've heard all about your friends, I'm curious about what you like, aside from books, as we've established."
"Well, they haven't ... shit there's a term for it. My lesbian vocabulary is kind of weak. It's like a thing where women move into relationships really fast, or move in together really fast? Something about a moving truck. This is going to bother me" said Wren as he pulled out his phone and looked it up, "U-haul! Yes, Stevie doesn't exactly U-haul, she fell in love in high school and doesn't exactly date anymore, well ... until now." There was more to that story, especially when Stevie got cheated on really badly by one of her ex girlfriends, or the girl she dumped for Juliette. But he didn't need to give the full report on Stevie's dating life. "So she's just taking things nice and slow, so I'm never sure if they're girlfriend/girlfriend" Wren explained. He smiled when she asked about him, most of the time he just talked about his friends. "Well ... I like Jane Austen, basketball, gaming, hanging out with my family -I'm a twin- aaaaand partying from time to time. What about you, what is Florence into?" he asked, curious to hear about her.
Eyebrows creased, Florence watched Wren with a look of amusement. She knew the term he was thinking of, but she couldn't find a spot to cut in. Then, when he stopped talking to look it up, she felt bad stopping him, so she just let him go. Her heart broke for her best friend when the boy explained Stevie's situation. It had been sweet that Stevie didn't really date anymore, but then he added "until now." Juliette wouldn't like that, but Florence felt obligated to tell her. Juliette was her best friend; she couldn't just keep something like that from her. "Oh, I see. I've never understood the U-haul thing, anyway," she commented. "But, yeah, I can see how that would be considered kind of off the market." She let the conversation drop there. It would definitely be too suspicious if she asked more questions. Smiling back at him, she listened to his answer, nodding along. "You're a twin? That's so cool! Identical or fraternal? Well, if I asked brother or sister, that would probably answer that. I have an older brother and a younger sister. I miss them an insane amount. Does your twin go to school here, too?" There she went again with the rambling questions. "Me? Um, well, I like children's literature..." She held up the book in her hand as proof. "...traveling, baking, board games and puzzles, and stuff like that. Not too exciting."
Wren honestly didn't notice anything: perks of being an oblivious male. He had just been through an entire Stevie interrogation and he didn't even know it. "Fraternal, I have a twin sister, and she goes to FIT in New York" said Wren, she was the shining star of their household. He had wanted to stay a little closer to Nana, he was a homebody for sure. "My friend from high school was really into board games and puzzles, he could talk about them all afternoon. Once you get into them, there is no going back" he replied, his kind smile just ever present on his face, "and I think those are exciting things. My ex-girlfriend bakes a ton, I know it can get very intense and exciting" he reassured her. It always came back to Chanel for him, he couldn't go one conversation without her name in his mouth. He hated himself for it, but he kept his smiling burning regardless.
“Wow! Does she like it there? My older brother is in school in Oregon, and my little sister is still home in Washington. She’s just finishing tenth grade,” she shared. Her parents had been shocked that Florence chose a school across the country, but she knew she had to make a drastic step if she ever wanted to travel the world. At least here, she knew Juliette had friends and family. She may not know them personally, but knowing of people had helped her make the leap. “Oh, really? That’s cool. Puzzles are very calming for me.” She chose not to continue the conversation about baking. She had her opinion of Chanel already formed because of Juliette, so she really didn’t want to talk about her with Wren. “What sort of games do you play?” she asked instead.
"My nana and I would do 1000 piece puzzles a lot. There's almost always one on the kitchen table" he replied when she said that puzzles were calming to her. "We try to do them as casually as possible, or we'd be there for hours at a time" he added. "Just fps with the boys mostly, and some other stuff from time to time. I went on an animal crossing binge this summer, I got really into it" said Wren, he had wasted pretty much the whole summer on his switch. It was a good way to fill his time, and him and Rory enjoyed visiting each other's islands.
She smiled at the thought of a teenage boy putting jigsaw puzzles together with his grandmother. “That’s so sweet. I bet she loves that time with you. I do jigsaws occasionally, but I’ve been really into logic puzzles lately, mostly sudoku.” She had a few apps on her phone of different puzzle games. When she wasn’t reading in her free time, she was likely playing one of those. “FPS?” Florence asked when he finished talking. The confusion was clear on her face. She was not a gamer, so she didn’t usually catch on to the acronyms people used for some of the games.
"I do love a good sudoku in the paper" said Wren, he spent Sunday mornings with Nana after they would come home from church. She would always hand him the comics and the puzzles, it was a nice routine. "First person shooters, nasty habit but they are fun" he replied, saying it out loud instead of the acronym made him feel kind of iffy about it. He was a soft boy, but they were fun with friends. "Well, I have to get back to my term paper. But I will see you around, Florence" said Wren with the kindest smile, he really did have to get his work done though.
“They keep the mind active.” Florence was happy to hear that he enjoyed them, too. A common interest or two was great to have for the beginning of a friendship. “Ohhh,” she responded, dragging the word out. “At least it’s just a game, right?” She couldn’t imagine playing one herself. She didn’t understand the point of shooting games. “Yeah, of course. Sorry for keeping you. It was nice to meet you, Wren.” She waves and flashed another smile, watching him go. Not wanting to say goodbye and immediately follow him out, she lagged behind and searched the shelf a little more to see if she wanted another book. Deciding against it a couple minutes later, she checked out Bud, Not Buddy and left the library, immediately texting Juliette. [ END ]

coffee and questions || rose and juniper
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍: the quad // february 2021.
𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: rose x juniper.
𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒: none.
𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒: rose takes it upon herself to vet juniper for her friend, stevie.
Rosemary was out getting coffee, and eyeing boys in the quad when she remembered that she shouldn't be doing that right now because she was not about to lose this bet with her sister. That's when she saw Juniper, the girl that Stevie had shown her the other day, and she had seen her a few times at Striking Viper's concerts. She wanted to get to know the other girl, especially because this was the first person Stevie had talked to ... like actually talked to since Juliette. That whole thing had been such a mess, and Rose had been present for a lot of it. "Hey, I've seen you at shows and stuff. You're Stevie's friend, right?" she said, keeping it vague like she hadn't heard too much from Stevie. She wasn't going to embarrass her friend, she was here to wingman. If Rose couldn't go after people, she was sure as hell going to play cupid.
Despite the cold weather, Juniper still liked to sit out in the quad to do homework. She grew up in similar conditions, so it was nothing new to her. The bite of the cold air could be refreshing, and it was also a great way to keep herself awake when trying to get through her algebra assignments. She had one headphone in, listening to a playlist that Stevie had made for her, but she looked up when she heard someone come up and talk to her. "Oh, hey," she greeted, pulling out her phone to press pause and removing the earpiece for good measure. It was only polite. She recognized the girl, especially after the mention of Stevie. "Yeah, I'm friends with Stevie. And you're... Rose? You've got a killer voice."
Rosemary smiled and sat down next to her, "Thank you! It's all everyone else, I'm just the icing on top" she said, doing her best to be humble in the face of a compliment. Being in a band with other talented people had definitely been a humbling experience, but she was focused on how together they were the best. It still counts even if it's a team effort. "You two been hanging out a lot?" Rose pried, "Stevie is maybe the most relaxed person I have ever met, I could sit around for hours just listening to music with her. And such a good listener, she'll hear me complain about boy drama for hours" Rose wanted to clarify that Stevie and her were strictly platonic, that way the other girl would be more likely to trust her. She knew that anytime someone talked to her about a potential romantic interest and they seemed too friendly, she was immediately threatened. But then again, that was just Rose.
“So modest. I like it,” she said, laughing. It was nice that a singer in a band truly gave credit to their bandmates. June’s expression became more curious when the girl started asking about her and Stevie. She was kind of amused by it. What was this all about? “You could say that. She’s pretty cool, yeah, and she has some great music taste.” She chose to ignore the mention of boy drama. She didn’t want to invite that kind of conversation right now, especially when she already had a math-induced headache.
Rose was doing her best to not be too obvious, but just obvious enough that the other girl felt validated in Stevie's affections. Rose nodded her head when Juniper said that she had some great music taste, "She really does, she picks out the majority of our sets" said the girl, her cheeks rosey from the cold air. Rose took a sip of her coffee and held it in her gloved hands to keep her warm. "So what are you into? Music wise? Hobbies? Academics? What kind of person is Juniper?" Rose asked, wanting to get to know the other more, "Since I'm sure I'll be seeing a lot more of you around." She hadn't been able to know Juliette that well since she and Stevie dated in secret, and this time she was going to be a better friend and be there from the ground floor.
Juniper nodded along, not surprised that Stevie had some sort of say in the set list. Judging from the playlist the girl made her alone, she would have been shocked if she didn’t make those decisions. The onslaught of questions that came from Rose next had June laughing. “Woah, slow down! Are you trying to get my whole life story in five minutes?” She scrunched her nose, her smile reaching her eyes. Stevie apparently had a really good friend who wanted to vet Juniper. Did that mean that Stevie told Rose they were hanging out? Dating? What were they? Shaking her head, she decided it didn’t matter right then. “How about I answer one question at a time, and you give me one, too?” she suggested. Getting to know Stevie’s friend wouldn’t be a bad idea. “I play soccer and softball, for starters, and I’m an art major. Your turn.” She thought about suggesting they go into the nearest building since the girl looked cold, but she wasn’t sure how long Rose planned to question her.
Rose let out a laugh, "You've never done a life in five before? Because those are intense, we did them at summer camp. You have to tell your whole life story in five minutes with a multitude of personal details from birth to the present" said Rosemary, "Obviously I will not be asking you to do that" she said as another giggle fell from her lips. When she heard the proposal, she nodded, "That sounds like a fair game, and a lot more tolerable than a life in five." It truly was a good arrangement, and a little less like a one sided interview. "I am a cheerleader and do debate, and I am undecided on my files but I will be a political science major once I find a advisor who can keep up with all this" said Rose, moving her hand around her head. Rose was a little chilly, "We can head inside if you want, well, I know I want" said the girl as she stood up, touching the other girl on the shoulder and waving for June to follow her.
"Wow, that does sound intense. What kind of summer camp did you go to?" June asked, intrigued. Telling someone your whole life story in that short amount of time was a crazy level of bonding. She couldn't begin to imagine what would require an exercise like that outside of a cult, maybe. She laughed at her gesture to her head. That certainly sounded like a lot on her plate, and she knew that advisors typically liked to encourage exploration in the first year rather than students claiming to have the entire college experience planned. At least, that was how her own advisor came across when Juniper told her that she knew she wanted to be an art major. "Yeah, we can go inside. It is kind of cold, huh?" She grabbed her bag and stood up, asking, "Anywhere in particular you had in mind?"
"It's the christian camp that my bio mom wanted me to go to. I only went once before freshman year of high school" said Rosemary, brushing it off. It was a weird task for sure. Definitely not something to do with someone new to her, and when she was just making sure she was good for Stevie. "Yeah this weather gets me sometimes. I usually can brave the cold but sometimes it's too much" said the girl as they headed inside, "There's some seats in here." Rose put her backpack down and crossed her legs as she took a sip of her coffee. "So, I think it's your turn to ask a question" said Rosemary with a smile growing across her face. She wasn't sure what to ask the other girl herself yet. She didn't want to pry too much about the Stevie stuff, well at least just yet.
A Christian camp. That made sense, she supposed. Juniper had never been to one, but she could imagine that they would be all about deep emotional connections. "Got it. Must have really stuck with you if you still remember that." Following Rose into one of the buildings nearby, June chose a seat and settled into it, dropping her bag to the ground beside her feet. "Alright, let's see," she said, bending to rest her arms on her knees. "What made you want to join a band?" she asked, looking at the other girl curiously.
Rose thought for a second, "Well I was in a duo thing, with a friend and when that fell through, Stevie suggested that I start playing with her and Wren and it kind of all went from there. Now we have Casey, and it's just been really nice" she explained, "I've always been drawn to music, I think it ... it just makes everything so much better. Walking, talking, working out, pretty much everything but homework but that's because I have to focus. I wish that life had background music like TV so that you could know more about how everything was going. It just adds so much to the moment." Rose loved music, so deeply. It was a huge part of her being. "How do you feel about music?" she asked.
"That's awesome. You guys are pretty good. I try to go to as many gigs as I can. Do you think you'll make something of it, or is it just for fun?" she asked. She realized that this follow-up question was technically not allowed yet, but she couldn't help herself from asking. She had never actually gotten around to asking Stevie that question; they always ended up distracted. "I'm with you there, except I do listen to music when I do homework. That or just like hectic background noise helps me focus, believe it or not. I mean, music has always been in my life, so I love it. Probably a strange mix, but my music library ranges from, like, Clairo, to Saweetie. Then, of course, I have a soft spot for some Disney music."
"It's just for fun right now, but if we keep going and things really pop off ... I mean we will have no other option than to be big" she said, as she laughed a little. Considering how much Rose commanded attention, she had no intention of ever being famous. But if the opportunity presented itself, how could she say no? Rose nodded in agreement when the girl talked about having a large range of music, "Me too, Clairo is definitely a favorite, but I listen to a lot of indie stuff in that genre. Relaxing music definitely calms me down when I'm being too much" Rose replied, "You can tell a lot about a person from whether they prefer show tunes or Disney music" the girl added. It was just something about the vibe, and not to mention there was a huge difference between people who liked disney channel music and disney movie music. It was a whole thing.
Juniper nodded and laughed along with the girl. "I would judge you if you didn't take the opportunity to go big if it came along." She liked that it was a 'just for fun' band; she imagined that made things less stressful than if they were trying to make it in the music industry. She had no doubt that Stevie would one day since she seemed to live and breathe music, but from what Rose had said about her desired major in political science, she assumed that Rose had her own separate dreams. Her taste in music wasn't bad from the vague answer she got, but June hadn't been much more specific. "And what can you tell?" she asked, curious. "Which one do you prefer?"
"Not putting too much weight on it means that we get to have a lot more fun. I know at least I'm a student first, Stevie just kinda goes with the flow with everything. I wish I could be like that, but I'm pretty sure my whole life would fall apart" Rosemary explained. She had to laugh when June asked more about how you can learn a lot from people based on what they prefer when it comes to Disney or show tunes, "Well it all comes down to the energy of the person when they talk about it. Both camps can have some really uppity people, or like people who are absolutely obsessed. Don't get me started on Disney adults, or my twin for that matter, she's constantly ready to fight any disney adult she sees anywhere" the girl added with a laugh. "But to answer your question, I do like Disney music, but I'm more of a Disney Channel listener? Like if I were to listen to disney music I would be popping in some Hannah Montana 2 / Meet Miley Cyrus type of girl."
Juniper laughed and sat back in her chair. “Yeah, I don’t know how she does it. I like that about her, though,” she admitted. It was nice to be around someone who was so flexible. She thought about what Rose was saying about Disney music. It made sense. June wasn’t obsessed herself, but she knew people who were. There was definitely an energy about them. “That’s cool. I watched Hannah Montana, but I was definitely a High School Musical girl. Was Hannah Montana your favorite Disney Channel show, or did you have another one?” She hadn’t talked about the Disney Channel like this since maybe the beginning of high school, but it was refreshing. With all the stress of college, it was nice to feel like a kid again.
The thing about Rose was that Stevie really balanced her out. She was the perfect amount of relaxed to deal with Rose's rigidity and future planning. She listened to what June had to say about Disney, and she shook her head, "Me and Marina were very tune in to suite life. Hannah Montana being a close second" said the girl, realizing how long it had been since she had been on this topic. It had to have been a few years at least. "But I totally feel you about High School Musical, the second one is my favorite though. First there's the iconic romance between Chad and Ryan, and secondly they did the most with their budget. Kenny Ortega basically invented camp as a concept, eat your heart out Met Gala 2019" the girl rambled, she got very into the conceptual idea of camp. She loved everything about it, it had so many rules but also none at all.
Juniper slapped her leg as the memory of the Disney show came to her. “Oh! Suite Life was amazing! Lincoln and I used to wish we lived in a hotel, like, all the time. That was my birthday wish, at least. I also was obsessed with Wizards of Waverly Place. Alex Russo still has a piece of my heart, I swear,” she gushed. This must have been the ice breaker they needed because June suddenly felt like she was talking to an old friend. “Right? The second one is great, and you cannot tell me that nothing happened between Chad and Ryan. I mean, come on, they switched outfits... platonically? I call bullshit.”
"No episodes of Wizards has my heart the way that the vampires/werewolves arc does with Juliette and Mason? That shit gets me every time. I thought I didn't believe in love any more when I was a kid, I was heartbroken for what felt like an eternity" Rose geeked out for a moment. That was around the time that she started to really go boy crazy. Thanks Mason. "If I was at an event and people left and came back wearing the other's clothes? Oh you know something went down" the girl added with a giggle. She was happy to be getting along with Juniper so well, not that she had any expectation that it would be hard. She loved Stevie, so any extension of her should be enjoyable.
Laughing, June nodded along. “I definitely get that. I was very invested in so many of those plots. I hope you believe in love now. Honestly, the part I loved most was the friendship between Harper and Alex. That’s goals.” Talking about the show made her want to rewatch it. Honestly, thinking back, she realized that she probably hadn’t watched it in a couple years. She grinned at Rose, eyebrows raised. “Facts. What other possible reason exists for that? I’ll tell you right now. There isn’t one.”
Rose took a sip of her coffee, her mind drifted to how hurt she had been in high school. Of course she still believed in love, she just didn't know if she could trust anyone to hold all of her love. It was too daunting of a task, but she did not need to talk about that with her new friend. They were definitely friends, this was good. "The Harper stuff was a little rough every once in a while, but I'm glad they didn't make too much fun of her. Like I get that she's quirky, but she was the butt of the joke a lot. Makes me sad, because she was always in Alex's corner." It was definitely time for a rewatch, she would put that on her list. "It's just such a director choice, I can't imagine having a fight with someone, making up, and then just switching clothes. I get the symbolism is that they can finally see from one another's point of view, but I think something definitely occurred in the locker room" she said with a slick smile on her face. She was surprised at how comfortable she was being weird around this girl already, usually she kept things very pristine around new people. Humor comes later, and especially children's niche character analysis.
"Ugh, yeah, don't remind me," Juniper mumbled, groaning. Harper was eccentric, yes, but she was sure of herself. That was something to admire, not make fun of. Unfortunately, she got that high school students did make fun of anything outside of the realm of normal, and she had been one of those stupid kids a couple times. She had never been truly mean, though, and she tended to befriend the "weird" kids in high school more often than the "popular" kids--they were more fun. "Aside from Alex, for obvious reasons, Harper was my favorite character. She's honestly so underappreciated." Juniper laughed at the comment about the locker room paired with the expression on her face. "I like you, Rose. You're funny. You've got great taste in Disney Channel shows, too," she pointed out. She wondered what else she and Rose might have in common. It had taken her a little by surprise when the girl approached her to get to know her, but now that they had talked for a few minutes, June was sure a great friendship was on the horizon.
She thought for a minute about who her favorite character was, "I think side character wise, it's definitely Zeke. He's adorkable. Main characters, Alex is the obvious choice. Justin was cute, but so deeply annoying and hyper-fixated" said Rosemary, as if the mirror wasn't up to her face right now as she described herself. "I would agree that we both have excellent taste" said the brunette with a laugh, "and I like you too, I have no idea how we got onto this conversation, but it's definitely worth it." She was thankful that she was going to get along with Stevie's new girl, as surprising as it was that she was thankfully and finally moving on.
Juniper nodded, appreciating the girl's answer. They were all great characters, so there really wasn't a bad answer for a favorite. "Justin isn't terrible, though. He had his moments when he was sweet or funny," she pointed out. "But yeah, I don't know how we got on this topic either. While we're here, though, what else do you like?" She leaned down to her backpack and grabbed her water bottle, which was covered in stickers. Several of them were related to pride, but she had some of Studio Ghibli films, Avatar: The Last Airbender, cats, among others.
"Well, why don't we let the waterbottles speak for themselves?" said Rosemary, pulling her hydroflask out from her backpack. It was also covered in stickers, about Star Wars, feminism, comic books, and her favorite songs. "I see we both fall victim to sharing too much of our personality on our belongings" the girl teased as she let out a little laugh. Her laptop was adorned the same way.
Raising her eyebrows in anticipation of what Rose was on about, June laughed when she pulled out her own sticker-clad bottle. “Amazing. I don’t know what you’re talking about, though. I have so much more personality than this,” she teased. Her water bottle was covered with essentially everything about her. Rose’s looked a lot more neat and manageable. She held her water bottle out and asked, “Want to trade and check them out?”
"Oh I bet you do" said Rose, chiding back. "I would love to trade" said the girl as she passed over the pink water bottle. "Studio Ghibli fan, I see" Rosemary observed out lout, "and pro-pun, that's always good". She scanned the water bottle for more things, it was funny seeing how they had the same idea but had executed it so differently.
Juniper took the pink water bottle in one hand while she passed her turquoise one to Rose. The first sticker she saw made her laugh. “I love this uterus one. It’s perfect,” she commented. “And yes, very pro-pun and big Ghibli fan. How could you tell?” She turned the bottle over in her hands, looking at the other stickers. “Avengers... nice. Spider-Man is my favorite. I love Cap, too.” She saw the wave sticker and stopped, looking up at Rose. “No way, you know this piece? I mean, I guess it’s not obscure. I’ve seen it on tapestries and posters in people’s dorms. I feel like I’m totally going to disappoint you by not recognizing the space thing in there. I mean, unless it’s NASA related, my guess is Star Wars?” She had been told many times that she should watch the movies, but she had never taken the time to do so. All she had seen were snippets of the first couple episodes.
"I am a huge cap girl, but my favorite is probably Wanda. I've been watching her new show religiously" said Rosemary, excited to be talking about the things that she loves. She smiled when the girl recognized the play on art, "Yeah it's The Great Wave off Kanagawa, one of my favorites. It depicts a large rogue wave, but yes also Star Wars ... another kind of rogue" she said with a smile. Sometimes she felt like a rogue wave, and it reminded her that you cannot control everything. It was one of her therapists tactics a while ago. It made her think really hard about how there was beauty in the uncontrollable. "Are you a Star Wars person? Because I will admit I have not seen any Studio Ghibli and paid attention, always getting distracted" Rose added. Maybe one day they could do a movie marathon, watch both of their things. But that was a lot to ask from someone she had just started to get to know, she just loved media content. Anything she could get into, she got into it a little too much.
Grimacing a little, June looked over at Rose, almost sheepish. "I haven't seen it yet. I really want to, though. Wanda is a badass, for sure." She quickly relaxed back into her seat, and the grin she'd been wearing appeared on her face again. She chuckled at the comparison of The Great Wave and Star Wars. "I love that, very clever." She had been unsure about how to answer about being a fan of Star Wars until Rose mentioned she hadn't really watched any of the Studio Ghibli movies. "I'm not, no. I mean, I know some of the plots and characters, even a few quotes, but I don't remember if I've ever actually seen any of the movies all the way through. My brother is always trying to get me to watch them."
"Wanda is 100% badass, the show is trippy though. It's fun watching youtubers work through their fan theories every week and comparing them to the comics" Rosemary replied, she had done her fair share of reddit postings, but she would say that there were plenty of people way more informed than her. "I'm kind of a media junkie sometimes" she said with a little laugh, "and a big star wars nerd, so obviously ... like the rest of America, I do recommend you give them a full watch." Rose took a small sip of her coffee, "But I guess it would only be fair if I watched some Studio Ghibli, so I will keep you updated!" Rose smiled at the other girl, this whole afternoon was very pleasant. Juniper was a good match for Stevie, and she could see the other girl getting along with her, Wren, and Casey anytime she came around.
She was intrigued by this girl’s passion for the topic. Tilting her head in curiosity, she asked, “Do you read the comics? For Wanda or any of them, really.” She wasn’t big into comics, herself, but she had read a few and enjoyed them. The art alone made her want to read more. There were so many styles in the comic world that she was surprised at herself for not being more into them. “Alright then, if you’re going to watch some Ghibli, it’d only be fair if I watched some Star Wars. I’ll let you know when I start that.”
She usually didn't talk about comics with people, but at home she had a temperature controlled space for her comics. It was a little more than an interest, it was a collection. "Yeah I read the comics from time to time" she said simply with a kind smile, "but there are a lot of people way more into it than me." She was excited at the idea of them leaning about what the other one liked, "Sounds like a plan to me, let me get you my number and you can text me whenever." Rosemary unlocked her phone and opened up a new contact before passing her phone to the girl.
"Hey, I don't think it matters if other people are more into it. Your interest is all that should matter, right?" Juniper said, lifting a shoulder in a casual shrug. "That's pretty cool, though. I've read some of the Spider-Man comics and then some from The Runaways. The art is stunning in that one. Have you read those?" Talking about it made her want to go back to reading them. She couldn't remember exactly why she had stopped--probably just distracted by something else. June hadn't planned on talking to this girl today, let alone getting her phone number, so the statement took her by surprise. Rose was interesting and apparently not the type to sit idly by and wait for things to happen. She'd have to mention to Stevie what she thought about her friend. She was pretty cool. "Alright, sure," she responded with a hint of laughter in her voice, pulling out her own phone to open a new contact. She traded phones with the girl and put her number in, saving the contact under june.
When it came to anything, Rose had a compulsion to just be the best or the most invested. When it came to fan culture it was overwhelming and too much to take in. "I have, I love Spiderman" said the brunette as she finished up her coffee. Rose smiled as her phone was passed back to her, "I have to go, my itinerary for the day is jammed" said the girl as she got her bag. "I will see you around, June." Rosemary headed out of the building and off to do her planned tasks of the day, but she had enjoyed taking an unplanned break to talk to Juniper. It had been a pleasant surprise, and she was glad to have a new friend. [END]

Reunited || Juliette and Stevie
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍: open mic night // late january.
𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: juliette x stevie.
𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒: none
𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒: juliette is wandering her new college campus and sees an open mic night sign, not knowing who also goes here.
Stevie was setting up everything with Wren and Rose at the open mic night in one of the restaurants on campus. Things were going good for their band, it wasn't like she really wanted to make it big, she just wanted to have a good time with her friends. But it was nice to get some recognition every now and then. Once it was their turn, the band got up on stage and greeted everyone. It was the first time Striking Vipers was performing here at Brindleton, so Stevie was a bit nervous. She tried to think back on all the times they performed back in their hometown as she held onto the neck of her bass guitar. It instantly reminded her of Juliette. Her ex girlfriend always went to her performances, and for a second, the thought of her calmed Stevie's nerves. But she quickly shoved the thought out of her head. She looked over at her bandmates and counted them off before they began to play Are You Bored Yet? by Wallows and Clairo
Juliette had been passing by a sign that said there were local performances. God, how she did love small bands. There was nothing better than hearing another band's take on one of her favorite songs. The gut wrenching feeling of one of your favorites sounding like the first time you heard it, but even better. Knowing that it could only come from live music, and that it would never be replicated again. She heard the opening to Are You Bored Yet? by Wallows and Clairo as she walked down the hallway, and she picked up the pace. Sapphic music? It called to her as she entered the room and got a seat at the back, and the sound of someone's voice brought her attention. It was Rosemary. Rosemary Hollingsworth. Then she saw him, Wren. And where there was Rosemary and Wren ... she was afraid to look. After a few moments, she pulled her eyes to see Stevie there, holding her bass. Juliette stared for a moment, before realizing that she was going to be seen. Her heart was pounding a mile a minute. She grabbed her purse and darted out of there, right to Florence's room. Maybe Stevie doesn't go here, just Wren or Rose does and the band had stayed together. Maybe she was just here for a minute. She hadn't seen the other girl in two years, and they hadn't talked in a long time. Stevie was blocked on everything, and Juliette was blocked on hers. How was she to know? //END

Striking Vipers Show (bathroom) || Juliette and Gabrielle
Juliette: Juliette took Gabrielle's lead and followed her to the bathroom, linking arms with her as she headed in that direction. "Hello, I see we are avoiding Chanel and I am here for it" said the girl with a smile. She was glad they had that in common at least.
Gabrielle: Gabrielle was happy that Juliette was the one to follow and not chase. "I just...needed a break." She said looking at the girl. "He knows that shit makes me uncomfortable. Why does he have to call her baby. While I'm sitting on his lap." Juliette: "Weird that he can punch a guy for hitting on you and turn around and do the same thing with Chanel" said Juliette, blinded by her hatred for Chanel. The only thing less than perfect about Stevie in her eyes was that she was as entangled with Chanel as the rest of the school.
Gabrielle: "Punch a guy for just talking to me. Didn't even give me the chance to deny him myself. I love shutting guys down. It's my favorite!" She said with a pout. "Its just taking a lot of energy to be here....  I'm really trying."
Juliette: "If you want to leave, I mean we could. I really want to see Stevie perform though" said Juliette with a shrug, "maybe just stay for me?" she asked. She knew she was being selfish, Gabrielle was going through a lot. "But if you want to we can, but maybe give him a chance to make it up to you?" she suggested, just wanting Gabrielle to stay.
Gabrielle: Gabrielle shook her head. "No, I can' leave. I think this was supposed to be our... date?" She said as she moved towards the mirror. "Do I look okay? I mean, Chanel is out here looking like that... and Oh god. I look horrible."
Juliette: "I mean, he is a boy?" said Juliette, her gayness showing. She had very little patience for men and their mistakes. "But just tell him, like be honest" Juliette encouraged. She looked her friend up and down, she looked great. "You look amazing" the girl complimented, "I'm surprised he can keep his hands off you" she added in.
Gabrielle: "A meat head boy." She said with a small laugh. "If I tell him I want to leave, he will. He annoyingly does every little thing I say. I don't want to ruin this. A night with his friends where he isn't cutting it short to worry about me."
Juliette: "Just go and mark your territory" said Juliette, encouraging the other girl. "Remind him that you're the hot girl who needs his attention". Juliette wasn't great at advice, "do whatever you feel like you need" she added in.
Gabrielle: Gabrielle nodded. "Right. Mark my territory. Be confident." She said "Okay, lets do this, lets go back out there."
