Well, I can imagine that one of the plans was to put Mordo on the same path as Kaecilius, and they might meet in the dark dimension!

Looking at 838 Christine's scans of both Stephens' injuries, 838 Stephen's car accident happened on January 3rd 2012, way before MCU 616 Stephen's. It makes sense he'd be a more accomplished sorcerer and that he'd become Sorcerer Supreme. Also, according to MCU 616's scan, it's currently 2021 on earth 838. So much fanon fuel! Does that mean Stephen was a student while Kaecilius was a Master? Did Kaecilius even exist on earth 838? All those happy years 838 Strordo must've spent together TwT

Having Kaecilius around while Stephen was still a student would have been pretty amazing to see. And I’m throwing that out there just so I can say that Stephen stole his job and his boo 🤣😉

There’s also the possibility that Kaecilius is still alive in this universe running around with his zealots. We honestly know very little about 838 and that gives us a HUGE playground to explore. Whatever he’s actually a pretty good guy in 838? What if he’s still a Master in Kamar Taj? What if in this verse, Mordo eventually moves on with Kae? 🥺😭

remember how kaecilius tried to straight up murder stephen multiple times and actually did murder wong? and then there's karl — all he did was ask his minions to restrain karl so that he wouldn't get in the way. not to mention, karl sounded visibly pained when telling stephen about kaecilius' betrayal but he was also quick to blame the ancient one for it when he learned she was using dark magic.

i am not saying they were jilted ex-lovers who tragically broke up because of their differing ideologies but i totally am saying it.

I'm rewatching Doctor Strange with my mom and wow Kaecilius is ruthless. When he's about to stab Stephen in the Mirror Dimension, one of the zealots has Mordo in a chokehold and is forcing him to watch Stephen's death. Watching this movie, it's really hard not to interpret Mordo as a gay man utterly in love with Stephen, but also Kaecilius comes across as a bitter exboyfriend. Kinda sexy ngl whew!

I’m such a huge fan of Kaecilius being the terrible ex sweet Nonny! It’s been a staple of strordo for me. Gotta have that side dish of Kaerdo there, it just sweetens and deepens the wonderful dish of our otp hehehehe 😁

I know it wasn’t intended, but Mordo really does come across to me like someone who’s in love with Stephen. Full blown shipping goggles on my friends. Mordo’s got a big ole crush on the disgraced doctor. That’s my truth and I’m sticking to it.

Ooh, 838 Kaerdo after 838 Strordo? Interesting! Kaecilius as an Average Joe, maybe he's not even a sorcerer, and now he's dating the Sorcerer Supreme. I don't think 838 Mordo would fall for cult leader Kaecilius. He had a loving upbringing and he isn't as starving for a Daddy's love as much as 616 Mordo is. Evil Kae would have no chance with 838 Mordo. I see a sweet, melancholy courtship with Kae knowing he will never replace Stephen in Mordo's heart, just wanting to make Mordo happy.

I really enjoy the idea of Kae being this sweet, non-murderous man in earth 838. Go on red right? ❤️ It makes me wonder how he and Karl would have met and developed their romance. I imagine Karl would have a difficult time realizing he’s opening up his heart again. After all he’s still grieving with the added stress of being Supreme. It’s just so much for him that I think adding a new love would make him rethink things. Mordo wants to be happy again, but I’m sure there’s guilt there too because he’s still in love with Stephen.

I see this Kae being very patient with him, and being mature enough to understand that Stephen and Karl’s relationship was a different level from most. It’s not a competition and he knows it. Yet he’s still there for Karl, not demanding instant reciprocation. I can see him having so much respect for Stephen as well. And instead of trying to get Karl to move on and forget him (which is impossible), he encourages Karl to talk about him and honor his memory.

Hmmm…..I guess earth 838 Mordo is gonna be the lucky one in terms of having people who genuinely love him 🥺

It's been what? Seven years now since the first film? It's been almost a decade and I still think about Mordo crying as Stephen leaves him to fight Dormammu and Kaecilius taunts him because he KNOWS Mordo is in love with Stephen and is about to have a complete breakdown thanks to Stephen's "betrayal" thank you for being mentally unwell about this ship with me for so many years. I feel like we anons share a lot about ourselves, our headcanons and all that stuff, but we don't hear enough from you. So, take this as an opportunity to share your headcanons, opinions, etc. Controversial, spicy, comfort headcanons, anything you want! Hehehhee truth be told Nonny, my headcanons have changed quite a bit over the years thanks to all the nonnies who shared theirs! You guys have such great headcanons and after awhile it just feels more canon than canon, ya know?

Also, I wrote all this on an 11hour flight, after getting off a 9hour flight. So bare with me. This is LONG and I’m super hoping my writing is getting my thoughts down right.

So…..

I really love this head canon that Karl’s great at the violin. It just makes sense to me. Krowler probably put poor baby Karl through endless lessons of everything under the sun, and maybe the violin lessons were the only ones he actually really looked forward to thanks to a kind, patient teacher who spoke gently.

Stephen I think learned piano from his mother. It was one of the few things he could bond with her over. Stephen seems to be the black sheep of his family, being more out there and wild than his conservative family. But the piano is where they find a common interest. Maybe he promised his mom a fancy grand piano once he makes it big as a surgeon, but he never got to fulfill that since she died. He got the piano in memory of that promise, and it was one of the very last things to go when he had to sell his belongings to pay for that ticket to Nepal.

For spicy headcanons, both Stephen and Mordo went buck wild after they left their childhood homes. Especially Stephen. Just trying nearly every kink at least once. Mordo would be more selective though. He’s a man of class after all.

Also Mordo enjoys lingerie 👀 Like a lot. Play your cards right and he might let you know.

And I also headcanon that Kaecilius was the Master of the New York Sanctum before Drumm replaced him. This is entirely due to the lines exchanged between them in DS.

“I see they made you master of the sanctum?”

“You know what that means right?”

I can’t recall exactly but it was along those lines. When I heard it I was like oh….that sounds a bit passive aggressive 🤣 And then later on with Kaecilius mentioning that Stephen doesn’t know how the relics work. And that Kae got out of that bondage contraption easily. And that he was just manipulating the fuck out of the Sanctum like he knew it by heart. I just like thinking that was Kae’s turf. He probably used it for his rebel cult meetings for some time 😬

Controversial headcanons hmmm 🧐 Okay, here’s one that people probably won’t like. I headcanon that for kaerdo, they actually really did love each other genuinely for a long time. However that started to fall apart when Kaecilius became more frustrated that TAO wasn’t teaching them really powerful magic.

And perhaps Kaecilius fell out of love with Karl once Karl….out grew him? Like I can see Kaecilius enjoying a young, love starved Karl and wanting to make something with him. There was a post a long time ago showing that there was a pretty sizable age difference between Kaecilius and Karl. And with Karl being so young at the time, he was still trying to find himself, and like he said he was a very different person before.

Perhaps as Karl grew older and more sure of himself as a person Kaecilius no longer saw those traits that attracted him to Karl to begin with. I think Kaecilius prefers his lovers to be followers, just going along with whatever he wants. But Karl clearly has a mind if his own. And maybe after questioning Kae’s decisions too many times it just soured the relationship. And I’m not even talking about decisions in the bed room, but decisions about how they’re gonna use their magic, and how they treat others. In the prequel comics Kaecilius was really needlessly mean to Wong, which Karl disagreed with. And he was being really cruel to the students, which Karl also called him out on. I think those were just two examples of many of their relationship falling apart. I also imagine Kaecilius tried to recruit Karl to the zealots, and that sealed the end of their long relationship when Karl stood his ground and refused.

Also Karl standing his ground means a lot to me. It’s like…a real showcase of his growth. If he grew up under constant rules by Krowler and having every thing planned out for him, what better way to say fuck you to the past than deciding your own fate? Without being tied to anyone else’s? Even if you love them?

I just think that leaving Krowler, Kaecilius, and ultimately Stephen and Kamar Taj, shows that Karl isn’t afraid of being alone anymore. He has his own way of thinking, his own priciples, and he doesn’t need anyone telling him how to live his life. Also, I can just hear Krowler and Kaecilius echoing the same sentiment to Karl, that he can’t live without them. I headcanon Krowler would tell baby Karl that there’s no one else in the world he can trust, that no one else could love him like his own blood, that no else will accept him. He tells Karl all that to make sure he stays and doesn’t find companionship nywhere else, making Karl a prisoner. Until of course Karl finally gets the fuck out of there.

And then Kaecilius doing the same thing, and feeding on Karl’s fears of being alone….of not having a home or people who love him.

Even Strange has left you

Ahhh that line pretty much spawned that headcanon above, that Karl’s scared of being truly alone.

However…the fact that he does leave Kaecilius, and then Kamar Taj entirely, shows that he’s grown beyond that fear. He’s not willing to stay just for that love anymore. There’s something more important than love or even home.

And that’s himself.

He choses himself. He choses to value his own principles and ideas of right and wrong over someone else’s acceptance of him. I love it so because it shows that he loves himself enough now to honor himself, even at the expense of losing people he deeply loves, of abandoning his home for half his life.

And that’s it for now :) There’s more for sure. Perhaps I’ll make another post. After I get some sleep and more sense 🤣

Just find somewhere nice and quiet, somewhere they can live happily in peace without magic or drama. And then of course…dying together when Dr.Armani fucks it up 🥲 Imagine if you will Kae staring at Karl’s face because that’s the last thing he wants to see 😭 And Karl saying that leaving KT was worth their time together.

What If!Kaerdo not being on that episode because they’re together and married and happy. Hi Nonny! And YES! When I heard it the first person I thought of was our sweet baron boy 🥺😍 And then to Kaerdo. I love how that pairing is pretty much completely created from fanon. I absolutely, truly love it. It just works okay! At least for me and handful of others 🥰 I adore all those potential scenarios Nonny. The idea that they’re both happily living their lives together is just so…..comforting.

I’m such an absolute sucker for Karl being happy in any way, shape, or form. So even if that happiness comes from being with Kaecilius so be it! Watched the What If episode today and all I’m getting from it is “What if Stephen lost the woman he loved… and didn’t meet the man who showed him how to love again?” because Mordo seems to be deliberately missing from this. I guess the Strordo vibes from Doctor Strange (2016) are too gay for “LGBT ally” Disney lol. Homo/biphobia aside, this ep didn’t have Kaecilius, either? So I’m guessing Mordo and Kae eloped in this universe ;p

This is absolutely on point for me Nonny. And I agree, it seemed intentional to leave Mordo and Kaecillius out. Though now that sparks a lot of questions. Like who killed TAO? Unless she wasn’t killed and just died cause it was her time :( Much like Christine. The TAO’s death is probably an absolute point in time too. No matter what, she’s gonna clock out.

But yeah, Mordo being gone there was no one there with Stephen to defeat Dormmamu so….how was he handling that? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wanna see more. I want answers Disney!!! 🤣

It’s also pretty interesting to think that in the prime mcu verse, it was Kaecillius’ inability to move on from his family’s deaths that made him summon Dormmamu and potentially destroy their world. And now in the What If verse it’s Stephen’s inability to move on from Christine’s death that successfully causes the end. It just reminds how they’d say Stephen was incredibly similar to Kaecillius. Maybe every universe is just destined to have a catastrophic event because a sorcerer refused to accept fate 😭

And yes Nonny, I’m gonna headcanon that Kae and Karl eloped here hehehe. Kae moved on and healed with Karl. They enjoyed beautiful years together before dying in each other’s arms thanks to Stephen 😭

what did you think about the what if episode?

Hello lovely Nonny! I wanted to wait until a week after the DS episode passed, mainly to give folks some time to see it and to prevent spoilers.

But now that a week has passed…

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 4

I actually really, really, really enjoyed it. Clearly it’s in a different verse since Stephen actually gave a fuck about Christine 😭 Like did you guys how much nicer Stephen started off in this episode? He was so nice! So kind and considerate to Christine. Way more pleasant and gentle than the Stephen we got in the movie.

And for some reason that’s really terrifying. Like if someone that kind can end up resorting to evil measures, how about the rest of us? How about our movie-verse Stephen? It’s really scary seeing someone like that fall. Especially when we don’t see the terrible traits that would make him unpleasant, like his arrogance and ego. It really wasn’t there. He just wanted to live a happy life with his love 😭

I read a theory that regardless of the universe, Stephen’s absolute point that leads him to becoming a sorcerer will always involve the loss of what he loves most. In the movie-verse he loved his hands the most, and in the What If episode he loved Christine 🥺 It’s just so tragic.

Also…..this whole episode just reminded me of Kaecilius’ story. Like this is exactly what happened to Kae. He lost his wife and son, and then lost the will to live until he came to Kamar Taj and worked his way up. And then he found something promising him a way to get his family back and he went full blown villain only to have to backfire on him.

They really gave Kae’s story to Stephen here. Which is interesting cause Kae and Mordo are both no where to be seen in this episode. They didn’t even cast satellite voice actors to impersonate them so I’m thinking the exclusion was intentional. Does this mean that Stephen took Kae’s role here in this universe? I’m guessing so 🥲

I’m gonna just happily fantasize that Kae moved on in this verse, and found love again with Karl. They had many happy years together before the world collapsed around them 😭 Oh goodness that episode. So good.
