I know I have been gone for some time now, but this absence was because something really bad has happened in my family to the point that my family will need therapy and the law involved.

Tolkien Blog Recs: Follow the Rebloggers!

I've been asked for Tolkien blog recs a few times now (in my short Tumblr life), and I would like to explain my personal strategy for getting the best and most comprehensive Tolkien content on my blogs:

FIND, FOLLOW, and BEFRIEND FANDOM REBLOGGERS.

Tolkien artists/writers/creators are amazing of course, and you should follow and support your favorites. However, Rebloggers are fandom connoisseurs that essentially do the important work of finding and gathering the content you want from various creators. They keep posts alive and circulating! I believe they are a crucial part of the fandom that remains underappreciated. (Many of them are or used to be creators themselves, but are just more active as rebloggers now.)

Rebloggers are often also great at supporting and engaging with other bloggers, so they are wonderful to have as Mutuals.

Listen, I get it, accepting you have been fed lies by your nation is hard. You think I was born disgusted with America? Fuck you think I made it to 10 grade not loving the shit out of my perfect country? You think I didn't get sick satisfaction from my government killing civilians because I was so deep in the "us v them" propaganda that I didn't care? I knew it was bad and treated it like I would a joke.

You are not a bad person because your country is Your country doesn't have to be you As long as you act in defiance, even in the smallest way, they don't represent you. But if you are okay with what they are doing, or are horrified but won't speak up, it DOES represent you. You can see my blog, repeatedly I talk about how I could do nothing and be golden. White Male Southern Adult I won the genetic lottery. But it's not just about me. It's not just about you. It's about them. All of them. Helping all of them. Loving all of them. And that includes you.

But you can't put others pain to the side because the alternative makes you feel better. You help them when they hurt. You mend them and nurture them. What the US has done, and is doing, is awful. And I genuinely believe that the US should not exist as an entity. I say this, again, as someone who has the world as my oyster as far as current laws and actions go. It's time you recognize Israel did too.

Criticizing your country when it does bad things is not bad. Not criticizing them when they do bad things is.

We can all be free and happy, but not without admitting our failings and working to get better, together.

Hi. I'm glad I discovered Your blog. Is this maybe possible for You to recommend some safe egl blogs that are 100% free of misstagged content with the"old men" stuff or some other scary things? Because i just boil when I think wow a nice pastel blog and the boom untagged triggering stuff thank you for mentioning importance of not spam tagging unrelated content because it's the first time I see someone talk openly about this and it makes me happy because I'm terrified to look through" lolita themed "blogs recommended by Tumblr algorithm.

thank you!! i think it's crucial to talk about, and i appreciate that you see the importance. the EGL community struggles deeply with bad associations, assumptions, misinformation and all. drawing the line and keeping NSFW and other harmful content out not only serves to upkeep the image of the fashion itself, but protects people who genuinely take interest in it for its intended purpose.. and of course, those who actually wear it. i discovered lolita online at around 10 years old and fell down awful rabbit holes due to fetishizers and people who involve kink with a fashion that has nothing to do with sexualization. i do my absolute best to keep my blog clean for those reasons, it means a lot to me personally.

with that being said, i absolutely have recommendations for blogs with lolita content! i'm not sure what constitutes as scary, so i suggest you stick with what's comfortable for you specifically content-wise! but these are my personal favorite blogs that don't fetishize lolita.. in no particular order:
