I finally got around to watching the Kamen Rider Juuga VS Kamen Rider Orteca webisode thingy. I'm a huge George Karizaki fan so of course, I enjoyed it. Though I never seem to find Orteca remotely compelling so that detracted from it somewhat. Like, I get that Orteca is the last remaining villain from the Kamen Rider Revice storyline so it's logical but he's just not very interesting. I'm usually really charitable toward actors, assuming they did their best with what they had to work with and so forth, but I think that Orteca guy may just not be very good. He definitely has almost zero chemistry with Noritaka Hamao, who we know can give off massive Heated Drama Between Men vibes with the right person (i.e. Hiromi from Revice). Still, it had lots of George doing George things. For example, exclaiming a lot, usually in English.

And sometimes, dramatic poses. For when you want to get your point across without exclamations.

I can't get over this outfit, by the way. The buttondown that suddenly turns out to be sleeveless is, of course, the pièce de résistance. When the promo images first came out and I saw the one below (pulled from Noritaka Hamao's twitter) I was immediately sold on this businesslike-yet-slutty ensemble.

And his usual trademarks are there. Specifically, the amber-colored Hunter S. Thompson sunglasses (attached with an old lady-style chain) and excessive white bobby pins that made me say "who the heck is that" from the first time I saw him. Then there's the duffel coat that seems like it was designed for a more fashionable version of Doc Brown from Back to the Future. But what I wasn't prepared for was the faux fur slides with intensely patterned socks.

He outdid himself this time.

I do think they kind of tried to get some Heated Drama going. Like when Orteca tried to run away and George grabbed him in a remarkably hug-like fashion.

If that was the idea, it didn't work. But at least it made Orteca uncomfortable at a point where I was feeling quite annoyed at him for being so boring.
