Cosmetic Jar of Tutankhamun with lion on lid

This cosmetic alabaster jar of Tutankhamun used as an unguent or perfume container, is a masterpiece of unusual form and design. The lid is adorned with the figure of a small recumbent lion, its mouth open and an ivory tongue sticking out.

Around the jar are scenes of lions and dogs hunting bulls and gazelles, incised and stained with red, green, and blue paint. The two columns on either side have lotus capitals supporting the head of the protector god, Bes. The jar rests on crossed bars ending in the heads of the traditional foes of Egypt.

Oh my god I just read this random article from a few years ago

It talks about the "upcoming movie adaptation" for TBITB, mentioning the initial plans to have Kenneth Branagh direct it, and guys there's a list of the actors they were considering casting

"... Chris Hemsworth cast as Joe Rantz, Daniel Radcliffe as coxswain, and other team members to be portrayed by Bradley Cooper, Armie Hammer, Hayden Christensen, Taylor Kitsch, Garrett Hedlund, Michael DiSanto and Rob Munn."

No shade to any of these guys but JESUS CHRIST I am SO relieved they went in a different direction in the end?

(Also this might fully have been a bluff on the article's writer's part, maybe he just shared his dream cast, idk? Still pretty surreal.)

Historical:

The Recruit by Monica McCarty: Mary watches Kenneth have sex with another woman in the stables after wandering in thinking a horse was in distress. Kenneth notices her and puts on a bit of a show.

Her Wanton Wager by Grace Callaway: Percy watches couples getting off through a peephole in Hunt's club, and when Hunt catches her she's sadly contemplating that she'll never be a good girl, but Hunt is like "HELL YEAH YOU AREN'T" and goes to town on her. Truly an affirming scene.

The Duke Who Knew Too Much by Grace Callaway: Ft. some unwitting as well as witting(?) voyeurism; the unwitting bit is when Emma accidentally happens upon some light CNC between the hero Alaric and his mistress at the time; the more purposeful voyeurism is when Alaric kidnaps Emma and takes her to a sex club to observe BDSM scenes to make her understand what he was doing with his mistress and then they make out.

The Prince of Broadway by Joanna Shupe: We love a good peephole scene; this one takes place during a police raid and Clay and Florence are in a tunnel and happen upon a couple having sex through a partition. Flo makes Clay turn around and they both masturbate to it.

The Bride Goes Rogue by Joanna Shupe: Katherine watches Preston masturbate in the French Ball scene, and later on, he watches her masturbate in front of him in a carriage.

His Countess by S.M. LaViolette: Gideon brings two prostitutes to his new estate and the widow of the last earl, Alys, watches them go at it (with snacks) for multiple nights and he is very aware of this and puts on a show.

You'll find voyeurism in most of the books in LaViolette's Victorian Decadence series, but this is the one that stood out to me.

Contemporary:

Praise by Sara Cate: There's a great scene during the opening of the kink club where Charlie and Emerson are in a dark room watching a couple having sex through the window and he fingers her while they watch.

Eyes on Me by Sara Cate: This book is allll about voyeurism; from what I remember, Garrett hasn't had sex in a decade but he has done plenty of watching. The heroine, his stepsister Mia, is a cam girl on not!OnlyFans and he's a regular viewer. Later on, there's plenty of great exhibitionism scenes as well set in the club.

Give Me More by Sara Cate: Hunter's original fantasy is to watch Drake with his wife Isabel, and this does happen a few times initially (in a kink club, and during a "there was only one bed" hotel room sitch).

When Heroes Fall by Giana Darling: There's this really hot scene where Elena watches Dante jerk off through a crack in his bedroom door, and he calls her name out when he orgasms.

The Professional by Kresley Cole: When Sevastyan first breaks into Natalie's home to kidnap her, he watches her masturbate in the bathtub before he drags her out of there lol. Later on when they're in Paris, he routinely watches her masturbate on security cameras and storms home while she's calmly giving a show.

Only For A Night by Naima Simone: Another sex club voyeurism scene; Rion gets Harper off in the voyeurism room in his aphrodisiac club while they watch another couple through the glass.

Neon Gods by Katee Robert: One of the earlier sex scenes involves Hades and Persephone in a shadowy corner of his in-house kink club and getting off while they watch another couple perform a scene.

A Worthy Opponent by Katee Robert also has some voyeurism stuff from what I remember since it's based around the kink club Hades and Meg run.

Tech and innovation Tuesdays

Today I drew Mamie Phipps Clark. She was born on 18th October in 1917. In Hot Springs,Arkansas. She attended very racially segregated schools including a Catholic elementary school, Mamie described her elementary school and secondary school as deficient in substantive areas. Her extended family shaped her career satisfaction later in life. She graduated from Langston High school even though it was rare for a black student to do so, she received 2 offers and scholarships from black prestigious universities like Fisk university and Howard University, she enrolled in Howard University in 1934. And unfortunately Great Depression hit, her dad did send her money so she wouldn't struggle, she majored in math and minored in physics. At Howard she met her future husband Kenneth Clark who was a master's degree student in psychology and he urged her to pursue psychology because it would allow her to explore her interest in working with children (ever since she was kid she had interest in working with children) and they eloped during her senior year in 1937. And in 1938. She graduated magna cum laude (meaning with great honor) from Howard University and she immediately enrolled in Howard University's psychology graduate program. For her Master's thesis, she studied when black children became aware of themselves as having their distinct "self" and when they became aware of belonging to a particular racial group. She defined race consciousness as the perception of self belonging to a specific group, which is differentiated from othe groups by physical characteristics. Her conclusion about African American children became the foundation and the guiding premise for the famous doll studies to which her husband and she would be very well known for. Imagine this: African American children sit down and they have two dolls in front of them on the table, one doll was white and the other was black. And the questions were this:

'Which doll is white?'

'Which doll is black?'

'Which doll is ugly?'

'Which doll is pretty?'

'Which doll is bad?'

'Which doll is good?'

'Why is that doll ugly?'

'Why is that doll bad?'

And finally 'Which doll looks like you?'

And unfortunately African American children always chose the black doll for 'Which doll is ugly' and 'Which doll is bad' and their reasoning was 'because they're black' and they knew that they themselves were Black which is saddening to hear that a child would think that... that's how much the segregation affected the children of any color...and the parenting of white parents as well... kids look up to parents/legal guardians as a role model on how the society works and how they should act as an adult...and at that period of life, kids's brains are like a sponge that absorb the info about the world around them...

Mamie confessed that it was not until the end of her undergraduate years that she finally became confident about creating solutions for segregation and racial oppression. After she graduated she started working as a secretary in the law office of Charles Houston, who was a prominent lawyer and leading civil rights figure at a time when segregation cases were taken up by the national Association for the Advancement Colored People legal defense fund. There she witnessed the work of William Hastie, Thurgood Marshall and others in preparation for the court challenges that would lead to the landmark 1954 decision Brown v. Board of Education and this had an influence on her master's thesis 'The Development of Consciousness of Self in Black Pre-school Children' which would be responsible for the research and experiments which influenced Supreme Court Case, Brown v. Board of Education. She was the first black woman to earn her Ph.D. in experimental psychology, which she did in 1943. From Columbia University and she returned to student life, her dissertation advisor was Henry E. Garrett,later president of the American Psychological Association who was an open racist. Later in life she was asked to testify in the Prince Edward County, Virginia, desegregation case in order to rebut his testimony offered in that court in support of inherent racial differences. Unfortunately after her graduation she experienced a lot of frustration in her career because she was a Black woman in a field dominated by white males. One instrumental role was a job in 1945. Conducting psychological testing for homeless black girls for the Riverdale Home for Children. She created and carried out psychological tests as well as counseling homeless African Americans and other black children in New York City she stated 'I think Riverdale had profound effect on me, because I was never aware that there were that many children who were just turned out,you know, or whose parents had just left them,so to speak' and this made her desire to open the Northside Child Development center.. she also conducted many other studies and there was another test that was given to African American 3-5 year olds where they were given line drawings of black and white people along with the line drawings of different animals. In February 1946. She founded the Northside Testing and Consultation Center in the basement of the Paul Lawrence Dunbar apartments where her family had lived. In 1948 it became Northside Center for Child Development, it was the first center to provide therapy for children in Harlem, and providing support to families who were homeless. By developing the center,Mamie was able to draw so much attention to the psychology of children of color and form an understanding of the social and the psychological effects of racism. The center was providing 64 children with psychiatric care and 45 children with remedial schoolwork support. The center expanded its services to include psychological consultations for behavior problems, vocational guidance, education in child training for Black parents, and various psychological testing. It just continued to expand more. In 1962. She collaborated with her husband on a project called Harlem Youth Opportunities Unlimited project that provided corrective/remedial education for impoverished youth that were falling behind in school,provided job opportunities for Black Youth and taught residents how to work with government agencies to obtain funds and services, the project merged with Associated Community Teams but it was short lived because of political conflict. In 1979. Clark retired as a director of Northside. She received Candace Award for Humanitarianism from the national Coalition of 100 Black women in 1983. Her work was an important contribution to the field of developmental psychology and psychology of race. She even worked for the United States Armed Forces Institute and the Public Health Association. She died of cancer on August 11th in 1983.

I hope she rests in peace knowing she made a very huge contribution to the branches of psychology

I doubt anyone is interested, but idc so here-

Headcanons I have for my Darlin' oc Kenneth Maria Rose Mackery :)

Kenny owns 4 motorcycles and is also one of those people who names his bikes, but feels a little embarrassed that he does. The only people who know his bikes all have names are Sam, Asher, Baabe, and Angel.

The first bike was one he fixed. It was a pretty simple dirt bike that he built back from shambles and it ran like a rancid pre-chewed Burger King hamburger that was spat out on an Arizona sidewalk and set on fire. He decided to name it 'David' out of spite. (He hasn't given it away to a scrapper because even though it's a shitshow that nearly got him killed first time he tested it, it was still his first shot at sort of making something.)

His next bike was bought and was an '82 Harley FXB Sturgis he named 'Missy'.

Then a Cafe Racer he named 'Betty'

The fourth, final, and honestly his favorite given that it's the one he rides way more often than the others, was a bike he made himself. Undecided between an American Bobber and a Cruiser, he chose to combine certain components of both models and created a Frankenstein he named 'Rodney'.

Kenny was/is a street racer (and was/is in a crew)

(First of all, I know it's Darlin's parents back up in WA, but I'm going to kindly ignore that piece of information and stick with my hc of it being Darlin's aunt and uncle because I've grown far too attached to Chrita and Miles Shern, okay?? Just let me have this- let me keep them :(

With that outta the way- Kenny picked up street racing when he went back to Washington to stay with Miles and Chrita. Since he didn't drive nor own a car of his own, he wound up stealing borrowing his uncle's old Firebird (that Miles himself used to race with) and taking it down to a meet-up.

Couple weeks into racing, he was approached by two other racers, Cassandra Deets—a Freelancer—and Kevin Grant, who invited him to a party with them and some friends. It was there he met Bryan, Manny, Ian, Jackie and Scott, Garrett, and Dakota Keerey. The party included a sort of "initiation" for Kenny to join their crew called Dominus, and he passed. They all became very good friends and yes, these are the same people from the Knifecup story. (Knifecup idea came post Dominus idea.) A fairly long while after Kenny joined Dominus, Miles found out about the Firebird and majorly scolded him for driving it because it's so discreetly busted that it's become a deathtrap. Kenny told him it was just until he could afford his own car. Getting an idea, he and Chrita decided to get one for him as a birthday present.

Name Predictions for Caldwell-Duggar #4 - Boy

In case you missed it, Joe and Kendra were spotted out to dinner last week with a brand new baby in tow. This baby was wrapped in a green blanket and didn’t have a bow on its head so it is suspected to be a boy, but that is not confirmed. While they have yet to publicly confirm this new addition to the family, it doesn’t really make sense to belong to anyone else. Jed and Katey were not present so it likely isn’t Truett, and the baby appeared too young to be Josiah and Lauren’s, who are rumored to have welcomed a new addition in March 2022. As of the time of writing this, Joe and Kendra have remained radio silent, so I figure I should go ahead and make my predictions now in case they announce soon. This post will contain only boys’ names, but I may make a follow up with girls’ names soon.

Previous Naming Information

Joe and Kendra have three known children, not including this rumored baby: a son, Garrett David (b. 2018), and two daughters, Addison Renee (b. 2019) and Brooklyn Praise (b. 2021). Their oldest two children share one name with their parents. Garrett’s first name is his father’s middle name, and Addison’s middle name of Renee is the same as Kendra’s middle name. Brooklyn shares her name with the middle name of Joe’s youngest sister Josie, but I think that is only a coincidence.

Joe and Kendra seem to have different naming styles for their boys vs. their girls. Their son has a mix of a family name with a classic Biblical name, while their daughters have what I am not-so-affectionately referring to as “trendy in 2013″ names. And in fact, Addison peaked in popularity in 2010, and Brooklyn similarly peaked in 2014. There has also been speculation that Joe and Kendra have a double-letter name theme, but I'm not sure if I believe that. To me, it just seems that they picked a family name for their son and two girls names that paired well together (Addison and Brooklyn are about the most similar style they possibly could have picked IMO). Since Brooklyn did not have a family middle name, I am not going to predict that they use any more for girls, but it is possible that they still will for boys.

I will begin as I usually do picking out names in the Social Security Administration’s top 500 baby names that contain double letters, excluding names they have already used and names of other GrandDuggars (and Muhammad, can safely say that’s out). Of these, a few stand out that I think could fit really well for Joe and Kendra. My favorites for them include William, Wyatt, Isaac, Cooper, Everett, Bennett, Connor, Harrison, Beckett, Gunner and Reed. And another double letter first name pick I'll throw in is Caldwell, Kendra’s maiden name.

And what if they’re not doing a double letter theme for this baby? Some names I think fit with Garrett, Addison, and Brooklyn in popularity pattern, length (sometimes), and overall vibe are Christian, Dylan, Caleb, Ryan, Wesley, Tucker, Timothy, Preston, Caiden, and Nicholas.

Since Garrett’s middle name is from Joe’s side of the family, I am expecting this baby’s middle name to be after Kendra’s father: either Paul or Gene, probably Paul. James or Robert are always dark horses in this family though.

My Final Predictions

I don’t know if they’ll ever confirm this baby publicly, so who knows if we’ll find out if my guesses are right or wrong. Oh well, this is just for fun (and mostly for me anyway). I don’t know if they would ever use this name, but I really love Bennett for Joe and Kendra. Both of the girls have names ending in “-n,” so perhaps they’d pick a boy name ending in “-t” to match Garrett. Everett and Beckett could also be close contenders.

If the name doesn’t contain double letters, I have to go with Tucker or Wesley. I couldn’t really tell you why other than that I think they fit well with Garrett, Addison, and Brooklyn. Or maybe it’s because Garrett reminds me of a Tucker and Wesley I know in real life. (Nevermind, just said Tucker Duggar out loud and I hate it. Quick substitution for Christian).

My top choice for middle name is Paul over Gene, just because that is the name that Paul Caldwell goes by in real life. If the middle name is for Joe’s side of the family rather than Kendra’s it’ll be James.

The wooden throne of Princess Sitamun is an example of the subtlety and elegance of Egyptian woodwork in the 18th Dynasty. The throne is made from red wood, covered in parts by a 4 mm thick veneer of red wood.

The legs are shaped like lion’s paws. These paws sit atop high bases which are divided by ridges. The legs were originally covered in silver plate – some remains of which survive.

Sitamun is usually thought to have been the daughter-wife of Amenhotep III. She is said to be the daughter of Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye in some inscriptions. Some have speculated that Sitamun was actually the daughter of Thutmose IV and Queen Iaret, but there does not seem to be any firm evidence for this.
