WEDDING IMPOSSIBLE
GENRES: Comedy, Romance
SUMMARY: An actress plans to fake-marry her best friend but ends up going from enemies-to-lovers with his brother.
THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Lonely house dogs, lazy workdays, day trips to Busan, bus trips to undefined countrysides, acting contracts, bratty step siblings, thumb drives full of secrets, and a lot of running while holding hands.
HOT TAKE: This show could have taken a really earnest look at how people come to terms with their identity, their future, and how that intertwines with family expectations. Instead, it was a masterclass in vapid, stubborn chaebol power struggles, a vacuum of romantic chemistry, and never getting to the fucking point.
I kind of hate every character in this show? There was no real personal development for anyone, so they just came off as not really acting for their own benefit OR the benefit of others. The main plot's pacing was all over the place, there were too many unappealing sub-plots, and everything got conveniently tied up in an unsatisfying bow during the last 15 minutes of the series.

Wedding Impossible
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Wedding Impossible (2024, South Korea)
Director: Kwon Young Il
Writers: Oh Hye Won & Park Seul Ki (based on the webtoon by Song Jung Won)
Mini-review:
Well, this drama was entertaining, but nothing more. It was especially funny at the beginning, thanks to that sort of 'rivalry' between the leads. However, once they solved that and started moving into purely romantic territory, the story began to lose steam quickly. Tbh, I kept watching to the very end because of the sizzling chemistry between Jeon Jong Seo and Moon Sang Min. And I guess I wanted to see how in the world they were gonna clear up the mess created by the characters, which was pretty fascinating. I feel like the show would have been better if the director had put more thought into its style, cause the whole thing looked pretty cheap and bland. But still, Wedding Impossible is fun enough, and I can see fans of classic romcoms enjoying it a lot.

hi ya’ll ! i’m bloom , and i’m super excited to be here ! i’m twenty five , reside in the eastern tz , and as for my pronouns i use both she / her and they / them , so please feel free to use either or both interchangeably . yeonghwa is a muse that i have on my indie but i think putting him into a group setting would be fun ( because he’s honestly a mess in a half ) . i’m starting this intro at literally midnight fifty so i might not get to khai’s until tomorrow , but i’m looking forward to plotting with everyone !
kim mingyu . he / him . cis man . spotted at the met steps , yeonghwa park , most likely listening to somebody by keshi with their airpods pro . the twenty seven year old gained quite a reputation , known to be -bellicose yet +alluring to anyone who knows them . you’ll easily spot them when you hear about a blacked out motorcade coming to pick you up from private airport tarmac , never staying long enough for you to learn his name , a perfectly whitened cheshire grin taking over your features as you get what you want , and late nights and early mornings in the city searching for something to keep you going followed by bitter peach by tom ford . latest nepoupdates article talks about finally moving on ? yeonghwa park uses alleged love affair to mourn the end of his relationship , but i guess any repiuation is good reputation .
the story of the park family dates back generations , but there’s not enough time to talk about everyone . the park family is the kind of family that most would assume don’t exist outside of the fantasy of film and television , but they’re very real . led by his grandfather , chan - woo is the founder of hyunsung , one of the largest conglomerates in south korea . under hyunsung comes a number of subsidiaries in the industries of food , automotives , real estate , construction , and more . chan - woo and his wife , bo - eum , had four children together . by luck , one of those children was yeonghwa’s father .
yo - han was the third child of four , with one sister and two brothers making up the rest of the park children . with a father like chan - woo , each of the children were expected to be nothing but the best . they had to attend the best school , bring home the highest grade— they had to be on top , always . yo - han learned from a young age that he had to appease their father in the best way he knew how , so while his siblings constantly butted heads with their father , yo - han kept his head down . he eventually went on to join the law department at the prestigious seoul national university , which is also where he met his future wife , min - ju .
it’s a brand new world to be married into the park family , but min - ju is able to hold her own . after a multi - million dollar wedding and luxurious honeymoon , the couple begin to work for hyunsung . yo - han’s father tasked him with leading the real estate development sector of the company , and he did well . during that time , the couple began to have children of their own : their first son kwang - ho , a daughter named sol - ji , their second son named jin - gyu , their second daughter named yu - ri , and their last son yeong - hwa . much like his father , yo - han expected for his children to well and to be the best .
for yeonghwa , he always managed to butt heads with his father . being the youngest , most expected for him to be spoiled treated differently than his siblings , but that was never the case . yeonghwa was always the son who had something snarky to say , who rolled his eyes when his father came up with some new rule , but surprisingly he had a close relationship with his grandfather . yeonghwa’s family moved to new york with the extension of the real estate division when he was nine , and went on to attend the best schools in new york .
yeonghwa went on to attend columbia university , where he double majored in financial economics and political science . yeonghwa , who had the expectation to someday work for the family company , never would have guessed he’d manage to go viral on instagram when he was spotted in the background of a video while attending a party in a classic ‘ help me find this guy ’ scenario . to learn that he was a part of such a wealthy family aided in the sudden rise of his popularity , which also pushed him into the world of paparazzi , fame , and socialites .
headcanons.
yeonghwa unfortunately knows that he’s attractive and idk if that’s a good thing MJCXHVBCX . he’s not an asshole about it but he’s just a handful .
he still butts heads with his dad , especially since his father wants him to work for hyunsung . he does want to , but he also wants to be able to enjoy his twenties unlike his father . somehow , his grandfather is supportive of yeonghwa’s choices , despite putting the same pressures on yeonghwa’s father .
he doesn’t live with the family anymore , instead he moved out and lives comfortably in a fancy condo in manhattan . yeonghwa can drive but he doesn’t want to , so he’s often driven around new york in a blacked out bentley bentayga .
i have more but my brain isn’t working right now MKVCNXC .
wanted connections.
i will burst into flames for the relationship that relates back into his headline ! he was in a committed relationship with his ex - boyfriend , and it was one that lasted for a couple of years . they could have attended columbia together or they met at literally any point , but there’s no real malice between them after their break up ( except that yeonghwa may still have feelings for him ) .
a best friend ! and they’re quite literally the best of friends , where they’re super close and have a lot of fun together .
give me enemies or give me death ! just two people who do not get along at all and spend most of their time around each other arguing . there could literally be any reason for them to dislike each other i just want HATE .
hook ups hehe . after the end of his relationship ( which he took very hard ) yeonghwa kind of fills the void by hooking up with anyone . he never stays the night and he most likely won’t even give you his name , but he’s down to have some fun .
a publicity partner ? not so much a pr relationship , but just someone that knows this chaotic world and whenever they’re together it gets the press talking . they will attend events together , and sometimes they’ll have fun with it by faking public arguments or fueling romance rumors .
i’m down to have yeonghwa fill any plots you’d like to do as well , but tysm for reading this monstrosity of an intro and i look forward to plotting with everyone !

The Uncanny Counter (2020)
All you really need are noodles and comic books. And this show has both!
This show was the break I needed from super serious drama-land. It's got pretty good action, some nice urban fantasy vibes, and a cast that seemed to be having alot of fun with their roles. The premise is a little bonkers, but that's fine too.
What Worked
The cast really made this work. The leads were fun and all had great chemistry together and the villains were just scary, both the human and the supernatural ones. In fact, I think the writing for the villains was better than the heroes, and what kept me hooked on the show.
What Didn't Work
There weren't any real issues with the show, it succeeded at making the kind of show it set out to be, but the writing felt extremely comic book. And not always in a good way. We had a literal Joseph Campbell "hero" arc in the first two episodes. There was a character who was almost, but not quite, fridged in a series with multiple fakeout deaths. There were about 4-5 episodes where you could tell they were filling out time and ran out of story arc.
I'm pointing this out because overall I really enjoyed the show. I just wish it could have been a little bit better. But they're planning on making a second series, and hopefully that will go somewhere good!
The Performances
Jo Byung-gyu as So Mun. Pretty much the title hero of this comic book show, he did an amazing job of selling both the young high school arc and the supernatural / super hero stuff. I can't complain about the acting, though I do have some quibbles with the "chosen one" writing arc. There are very few scenes that are weak, it's just the overall direction they took the character that felt a little cliche.
Yoo Jun-sang as Ga Mo-tak. He plays a former detective who had amnesia after a ten story fall. Seven years later, he's coming back from the dead to seek vengeance on the criminals who stole his life away.
What I'm saying is this role could easily have turned super campy, but the actor made it work really well. I liked his arc better than the main story for the most part (except for the stupid not-quite-fridging).
Kim Se-jeong as Do Ha-na. I've only seen her in Business Proposal and I liked her much better in this role. She had pretty good comic timing in Business Proposal and she plays it almost completely straight here, and again does a good job with a character that has some potential campiness.
Yeom Hye-ran as Choo Mae-ok. I loved this character, but then I play a healer in most of the RPGs I run, so it makes sense. I liked her role in When the Camilla Blooms but it's nice to see her play someone a little less grumpy. (**spoiler**) Her character was a victim of a number of fakeout deaths, which I didn't like, but I think I would have rioted if they killed her, so it's kind of a tough call.
Choi Yoon-young as Kim Jeong-yeong. The actor did a good job making a side character interesting and she had great chemistry with Yoo Jun-sang. They could have done so much more with this character, but (**spoilers**) they killed her off instead. It kind of annoyed me, though they didn't treat the character like a cheap action movie death, which is something.
Ahn Suk Hwan as Chairman Choi. I had fun watching this character and you could tell the actor did too. Not particularly deep or interesting, but very colorful and the show was better when he showed up.
Lee Hong-nae as Ji Chung-sin. This guy played an amazing creepy villain. The writing put the character right on the edge of the line of campy horror, but he kept it from getting ridiculous, and I got literal chills a few times.
Ok Ja-yeon as Baek Hyang-hui. This character was meant to be a little campy, entertaining at times, but campy. And the actress did a good job following the brief. I can't say I enjoyed watching her, but I never got bored.
Choi Kwang-il as Shin Myung-hwi. He starts out as a kind of cardboard villain, but did a good job leaning into the horror elements at the end of the show.
The High School Kids. This is one of the things that the show got really right, tone-wise. The way the bullies took over the school was completely bonkers, and there were no adults anywhere pretty much, but that's kind of how the world feels when you're a teenager. All of the relationships and rivalries feel like these world changing events, and all of the grownups feel a bit like the adults in a Charlie Brown cartoon. The actors all did a great job with this.
The Street Thugs. I liked the rivalries here with Mo-tak. They were campy when they needed to be and scary when they were supposed to be (especially at the start of the series). Mostly they're just mooks, but they're entertaining mooks.
TL; DR:
This show is fun, and scary, and sad when it needs to be, but it's impossible to take seriously, which is why I enjoyed it!

winter inspiration — headcanon, playlist & aesthetic
summary — inspiration falls differently with each season, except this winter seems like the longest one yet. gyujeong’s been writing less music despite having a surge of inspiration. inspiration comes from different parts of his day to day life, and where he draws the most is where he tends to continue pursuing. lately, it consists of writing, anime and son yejin.
playlist summary — though he’s only really influenced by drake’s albums, sometimes gyujeong finds himself in a predicament when he listens to the same track on and on again. these songs give him some sort of inspiration of the music he’d want to create. yet, it becomes thwarted by the reminder that when given the musical freedom, he’s only left to make shitty ultraviolet edm beats. despite this, he continues to curate playlists for the sake of getting to it later, using it as fuel for himself to someday make better music than his current situation. this playlist is a mixed bag of genre as gyujeong’s been here and there with what inspires him.
wc — 552
1. drake — best i ever had
2. drake — hours in silence
3. bach — air on the g string
4. beethoven — romance no. 2 in f major
5. chopin — waltz op 69 no 2
6. 성우정아 — 상상 / sungwoojunga — beyond my dreams
7. polaris — dynamite
8. 원티드 — 외로운 사람들을 위한 노래 / wanted — heal me
9. 김광석 — 너무 깊이 생각하지마 / kim kwang seok — don’t think too deeply
10. shwayze — corona and lime
yeah, gyu’s a bit weird in what inspires him this winter — nothing is really coherent. and that’s the gist of his inspiration — incoherencies, and that’s what he’s just drawn to
classical music — gyujeong has a background in classical music because he used to go to piano hakwon everyday as a child. his mother thought it was mandatory that all her children learn how to play the piano, and turns out, gyujeong was quite good at it. he was the best out of his siblings, and he learned pretty quickly. now, after being in the industry for so long, he strayed away from it but somehow he landed on the weird side of youtube at 3am where it led him to a few bach and beethoven pieces, so that’s now what plays as his background music instead of his guilty pleasure (600 lbs life).
drake — everyone can shit on drake all they want, but gyujeong will defend drake till the very end. he doesn’t know why he vibes with drake so much (well, probably because he’s a lonely loser that doesn’t know anything), but he does. drake releases a new album? gyujeong streams it along with streaming old drake songs. the old love songs that made drake a meme? those are gyujeong’s favorite and he’s having fun with the meme-factor of it
dynamite — he thinks this song is hilarious. from the lyrics to how it was marketed, he thinks it’s funny. feels bad for polaris, but also finds it intriguing how a song can elicit so much laughter from him. because of that, it’s his inspiration to write beyond sad songs and start to write comical humor
the other songs are just classics that give him a taste of nostalgia for an era he never lived in. they’re more superficial inspirations? so, he doesn’t put that much thought beyond that the sounds were so raw back then, the mastering wasn’t as pristine, yet they stay true to the test of time. longevity — he wants that.
anime — he’s always inspired by anime, but lately it’s been a lot of makoto shinkai movies. he hasn’t been watching series, but been watching straight up romance anime movies because it makes him cry, and he enjoys living vicariously within a fictional world. it swallows him whole and he considers it a profound experience everyone should try
writing — he’s never been a journaler because he finds the concept annoying. writing feels like a chore, but he finds that when he scribbles down one or two thoughts he had in the day or what he did that day, it pieces together a familiarity for when he goes back. plus, writing one or two thoughts doesn’t consist of a page and fits his lazy ass <3
son yejin — in addition to makoto shinkai movies, gyujeong’s been watching a lot of old son yejin movies and dramas. he’s named her his ideal type once or twice, with the explanation: he hasn’t seen anyone more beautiful when they cry and he likes dog faces more than cat faces. he likes to pretend he’s the co-star in whatever she’s starring in, and try to write songs that paint a picture to her tears. this is SO lame, i know. but since he’s been in a sadder mood lately, he writes break up songs about son yejin instead of thinking about his ex : )
