Explicit mentions of Laurent's hair in the books where we can guess at the length (I haven't done all of them!):

In Captive Prince, Ch 3:

Damen poured water over his shoulders and back. This suggests that his hair is long enough to just perhaps brush his shoulders, or for the splash of water there to reach the ends.

Ch 8:

“No jewellery except for a fine gold circlet on his brow that was mostly hidden by the fall of his golden hair.”

His hair is long enough to hide his circlet, which makes me feel he has a middle part and the two sides fall across his face. Bangs? Layers?

Ch 10

“Damen’s eyes lifted to the white column of his throat, and above that the golden hair, parting around the shell cup of an unjewelled ear.”

Hmm. Ambiguous, as to length. Suggests it's cut above the neck/throat though.

Ch 11:

“His body language was calm and respectful; the fall of his golden hair hid his expression.”

Again, long enough or layered so as to fall about his face.

So definitely trimmed shorter at the back by KR? I'm beginning to think Laurent took the time to get regular haircuts lol. Actually, considering they trimmed Damen's hair before Laurent released him, there are barbers on hand.

Okay, putting this all together...

Here's what I think Laurent's hair potentially looks like!

So after a haircut I think a combo of these two on the left. The length of the left would fit the 'soft short hair' at the back of his neck referenced in KR. But the two on the right also give a good feel for the the way his hair can fall infront of his face I think.

And here's a few more on what it could look like when it's grown out a little more. i'm especially fond of the top left, as I think that's the right texture for Laurent's hair, and a bit closer to his hair colour, but combined with the structure/layers of the others.

I think this length would hold true to Damen having to sweep his hair away a little from his nape or back of his neck to access his high necked clothing, while retaining the sense of layers. So probably this is what it looks like while they are their way to the border and have weeks where Laurent may not have had time or cared to have had regular trims?

It could also look like this when it grows out. Which is dreamy! And hopefully a little luscious?

So, he's the persona/OC for this blog's aesthetic, header and alias; Atlas.

This is the current most up to date art I have of him that's not low effort like the response I had earlier today to that other thing i think you may have also sent?

He's what I've classed as a 'tech demon' (which is how I categorise Vox as well). Tech demons as i define them are sinners which are either robotic or AI in physical nature, and they usually have a particular affinity to do with technology, machinery, electricity, metals, etc. His main ability is Ferrokinesis (metal manipulation), however he does also have a particular affinity with technology as well.

As the art says, he's known as The Dealbreaking Demon/The Dealbreaker. This is because he essentially contacts seemingly random people out of the blue - some of them being fairly famous people - and then works with them to break their soul contracts.

Dealbreakers aren't unheard of in hell, but their reputations are always bad as they are usually trying to exploit their clients in some way or the other, and the ones with good intentions who actually deliver get taken out. This doesn't happen with Atlas however, as he doesn't physically go see his clients and is relatively anonymous.

He gets exposed however as he begins to take on the clients of current overlords, and they obviously begin investigating closer then others.

Due to this, his way of contacting people (online through targeted popups) is discovered even with all his efforts to hide the evidence, and he quickly becomes notable and seen as a fairly big threat to the control of many overlords as he's suddenly showing up and is very skilfully breaking contracts of souls they have owned for centuries in a few weeks or even as little as a few hours.

Atlas also doesn't use his powers for bad, per se, however he does use them to be a menace and is essentially a giant troll to people who he believes deserves it.

He's very vexing to many overlords as his intentions are so unclear, it's greatly troubling for several as it doesn't really seem that he's trying to gain power and rather wants to genuinely help people which is foreign.

He especially gains the attention of Vox as he's of course the one most effected by online trolling from another demon who can connect in with technology, and Atlas very quickly falls in love with making Vox's day worse and just being an asshole to him because his reactions are always so funny and over the top. (I am totally not enemies to lovers trash about them at all down the line no not at all 🙏)

I FINALLY REMEMBERED IT

There were two versions of the White Star brain rot. One with the reader, and the other with an Oc(because pretty sure no one's gonna take this man). It honestly started as a joke, like "Imagine if White Star had a therapist friend. Lmao." And then my friend just looked at each other and went "fuck it". And made White Star a therapist friend.

Reader version, I think, is basically God of Death fucked up and accidentally brought a random soul into the world but saw that they knew about the future so tried to get them in a suitable body. Buuut they ended up sharing a body with White Star so GoD gives them a blessing to protect them from his curse because OH BOY HE DONE MESSED UP. Reader realizes, "oh shit, I'm in the white radish's body" but White Star isn't aware because they're just a tiny mortal and he's a reincarnatior that's been alive for centuries. They can only speak to him every so often, so they sort of become his conscious and start secretly pitting him against the Sealed God. As he gets more aware of them, they start gaining more power and create a little mind space where they can project their body. A little safe space away from the very concerning thoughts that swarm his head. However, it's a double-edged sword as White Star quickly realizes his conscious(that he thought he lost a long time ago) was just this random person who distracted him from his goals.

After realizing there's nothing he can do about them, they explain TBOAH and TCF and making him realize all his plans are in vain as even if he does succeed, time will get rewinded and he'll have to deal with the menace that is Cale Henituse. So they make a deal, they get to live in this weird limbo state but will eventually get a body, and he finds a way to permanently deal with the SG as well as all the information they have. All of this takes place centuries ahead of the TCF and TBOAH Timelines. By the time KRS arrives, White Star has gotten... Attached to the little mortal living in his head and all his "villainous" acts are for show so the SG doesn't suspect anything. SG is aware of them, but thinks that they can't do anything. He is wrong. Thanks to them, White Star fakes his death and the SG is permanently taken care of. Reader gets to finally take over his body, as he had to sacrifice a bit of his soul to deal with SG so now he's the one in the mind space they made. And now both of them just wander around, going their best to avoid Cale and his group because that is not something they want to deal with. They also teach him memes.

with the death part though... hmm i personally think that'll be difficult. since cale got the answer of how to kill white star from the world tree (i mean world tree can lie but lets be real, that poor guy is too scared of cheap stake fire to do that) and it's hard to escape jour's ancient power. so i can see them striking a deal with cale with the help of god of death. then after sg is sealed off they just go away to try and live their own life and avoid cale.

hi, do u know why some ppl in the fandom think laurent and damens first time was r*pe? i get that damianos was selfish but i just can’t see it as *that*

I went back to read chapter 19 of Captive Prince just to make sure of my stance on the chapter. I honestly can’t tell you exactly why people think that, but I have my theories.

If you were going to superficially read this scene in that way, I would have thought people would question the master/slave dynamic Laurent has over Damen, more than the other way round.

It could very well seem like it’s Laurent who pushes Damen into it to begin with:

Damen says “I-don’t-“ and Laurent speaks for him. Laurent acts as if Damen is a slave and has no choice.

Now, to be clear, Laurent doesn’t rape Damen either. But if you read this bit in isolation, you might get concerned about consent. That’s why it’s important to read the chapter in its entirety (syncing it up with the bonus chapter 19 and a half) and making sure you contextualise it within the wider plot of the novel. They’re both still pretending in this scene, and that pretence is what allows them license to sleep with each other. Enemy princes, one of whom killed the other’s brother, cannot lie together. But a Prince can lie with his bed slave. So they both keep up this pretence to be able to have this.

Look at the pain it causes Damen, who is someone who is aching desperately for physical intimacy with Laurent, to try and clear his head and stop. It saddens him so much that Laurent might be trying to reward him with sex:

Pacat had difficult choices to make in this scene. She wanted it to be almost unbearably private and intimate. It needed to stay true to the characters and their arcs and the world she had created. Sex isn’t always an easy cheerful tumble as Damen has experienced it to be. This is intensely personal as it’s also about two people falling in love, and who in this moment cannot see a way as to how they could possibly be together.

The scene progresses in such a way which shows the two communicating- as much as one can, when one is lying about his identity, and the other is feigning ignorance. When one is sexually liberated and experienced and the other, hugely traumatised and repressed. In a novel whose invented world is modelled on societies from centuries ago.

Damen stops and checks for what Laurent wants:

Damen literally asks Laurent to tell him his own pleasure, because he wouldn’t just roll him over and mount i.e he literally would never rape him.

He lets Laurent control what he wants at numerous points, such as kissing and double checks that he’s okay with actual penetrative sex:

I really don’t know what person imagines that Laurent, a victim of sexual abuse, who as a consequence was probably unable to feel any kind of sexual feeling in himself until Damen and might even be enormously terrified of sex, could just casually open up verbally about what he wants. Pacat makes it clear multiple times that Laurent gets turned on by Damen and has no idea how to deal with that vulnerability, when sex is tangled up in his mind with all that happened to him.

Damen literally double and triple checks as to what Laurent once and Laurent directly asks him for sex:

I just can’t see where people are getting this idea from.

I have also read that Damen ‘fantasises about Laurent as a slave’ as part of this but…he doesn’t.

In CP he acknowledges Laurent would fetch a fortune at a slave auction, which is a material reality in his culture.

Later in KR, he wishes Laurent’s body didn’t have to be extensively prepared each time and was more like a slave or a pet, because they have no oil as lubricant (he smashes an oil lamp to solve the issue). In PG he thinks about the fact that if he turned Laurent over to the nearest Akielon army, it would lead to Laurent being given not to Nikamdros but to him. However there is no elaboration at all on what that may entail. It’s very much a hmm that would change our power dynamic, and I actually think Damen is a little turned on by the thought that Laurent could be in that role but its made very clear in the text that Damen is not a rapist.

In this scene in particular, Damen sees his first time with Laurent as incredibly meaningful:

A moment he wishes to be “worthy of”. It’s an expression of love not violence.

So why do people think this then?

Damen doesn’t pick up on Laurent’s psychological state because he doesn’t know that Laurent knows he is Damianos the man who killed Auguste. He is being selfish by sleeping with him and taking what Laurent is giving him, yes, but he really does think this is his last night with Laurent and isn’t strong enough to resist his yearning for him.

Which still is all categorically not rape.

So again, where does this come from?

Well…I do think a lot of people read a little carelessly? I’ve done it sometimes, though maybe more rarely as someone with a background in literary study. Not everyone reads closely, not everyone remembers everything that happens in a book and they form some half-baked theories due to this.

But why misread this scene to that extent, where I’d go as far as to say that it stands in direct opposition to what Pacat intended and how the scene actually reads?

If you want my theory on it, I think many white readers (and non-white) have unconscious prejudices. The darker, muscular character evokes highly racist stereotypes of rape and assault; the fair, blond characters are the idealised objects of beauty and desire (who clearly need saving from dark men and their brutish sexuality 🙄).

I do think some people must surely be mapping these prejudices onto this scene and making it fit. It’s the only plausible reason I can think of.

I sometimes wonder whether some of the Auguste/Laurent shippers are people who want the fantasy of two blonds together. Like *ugh get that dark man away from Laurent*. I am not one to morally police the fiction people write and consume, I’m just saying the personal is the political and I can’t help but feel there might be some who think that…

So yeah that’s what I think! Hope that helps.
