Which Disgaea Character Would Join the Phantom Thieves?

((Hee ho dood! Prinnyfrost reporting for duty! Ever since I made that post about Joker from P5 telling Rozalin he'll help rescue fake Zenon's heart got me thinking. Which character from the Disgaea serious would be decent members of the Phantom Thieves of Heart from Persona? For this, I'll be looking at almost the major characters from the series so far, including both Disgaea RPG and Disgaea 7 (meaning this is likely going to be a multiparter). To determine this I will look at how valuable of a member they would be to the team, whether or not they're willing to join, and how much they would be able to get along with the other members.

Up first is the original main character himself, Laharl. And despite the fact that he shares the same voice actor as an in game Phantom Thieves fan (Shinya Oda), I'm going to have to say no. Laharl is powerful, but he has a bad habit of trying to take charge and doing his own thing, which is going to rub some of the members the wrong way. In fact, I'd say it's only a matter of time before he picks a fight with Ryuji and Morgana and those two right with each other enough on their own.

Next up is Etna. She's not as bad as Laharl and she is certainly powerful, but I'm not too certain that she would join the group unless if she gets something out of it, like a cut of the cash or some sweets. Plus her mistreatment of the prinnies might end up making her a target of the Phantom Thieves in the long run.

Flonne is an interesting case. She would certainly want to join the Phantom Thieves and I'm confident they would get along with her pretty well. She's a very good healer and she makes friends with just about anybody. Hell, in her case, making friends with Futaba would be a breeze since they're both sentai fans. Unfortunately, there are two things that are holding her back here. First, she's a bit clumsy compared to the other characters from time to time. Not horribly so, but she does have moments. Second and more importantly, she's not all that good when it comes to keeping a secret. Yeah, she kept Laharl's birthday party hidden from him, but let's not forget how she revealed Artina's identity to the Hade's party in Disgaea 4 or how she outright told Laharl that she was an assassin when she first met him.

Sicily on the other hand, I'm more confident in joining. She's about as friendly as Flonne so I can see them getting along well, though probably not as swimmingly in comparison. She might be hesitant at first being a thief, but if she understands what they're doing is to help others, then she'll be more willing.

Gordon, Jennifer, and Thursday are all pretty much in the same boat as Sicily. They'll be hesitant since they're thieves, but once they realize they're helping others, they'd be more willing to join. And thanks to Disgaea RPG, we know that all of them would be HIGHLY valued members of the team. Keep in mind, this is the same group that managed to stop a giant mass of malicious souls forming a prinny bomb, one that might have been powerful enough to wipe out countless Netherworlds, to calm down and find inner peace by talking to each and every one of them. That type of talent is going to help make clearing through palaces a breeze.

Now Kurtis would fall under that same boat, but he wouldn't be as willing to join compared to the trio. He's mainly a lone wolf that likes to do his own thing, though he would lend a hand every now and then if they need it, as evidenced in Disgaea 2.

Same goes for Xenolith. He's not opposed to working in groups, but he is more used to being on his own and lending a hand if needed. That being said, if Etna wants him to join the Phantom Thieves for whatever reason, he'd do it in a heartbeat.

Barbara's an interesting case here. Usually, I would put her as a "maybe" because she lacks a sense of free will and might only join if they order her to do so and whatnot. However, there is one person that can convince Barbara to join the Phantom Thieves and stay in the group as long they need her to... Morgana. Barbara is a cat fanatic and will do anything for them without hesitation. The moment she sees him, she'll force herself in the group claiming that Morgana told her to join and will do just about any thing he asks, so as long as Morgana's around, getting Barbara to join is a shoe in.

Now as much as I like the idea of Adell being one of the Phantom Thieves, I'm going to have to put mah boi in the unlikely category. Yeah, he would be useful as one of the muscle members of the group, but remember, Adell is an honest guy who's not a fan of lies. While he won't flat out rat on the Phantom Thieves, any time some random person brings up the topic, he might struggle to keep silent which might make him look a little sus. Then again, as Prism Black, Futaba might want an autograph from him at least.

Rozalin on the other hand, is more likely to join but still no guarantee. Her marksman shift and being so light on her feet would make her a good member and Rozalin could definitely use some more friends. She may be haughty, but I can see her getting along well with the other members, especially Haru. I say she's not guaranteed to join is because remember, she's not a fan of fighting. She'll do it if she has to, but it's clear she doesn't enjoy it.

Tink is definitely a no. The only reason he would want to join is to try to get with the female members and it's only going to be a matter of time before either Ann, Ryuji, Morgana, or Makoto would get sick of shouting "drack-tink-mahalock" before they kick him out.

Taro is not as bad as Tink but I don't see him getting along with the Phantom Thieves too well compared to the other characters. Plus at least one of them is going to question where all his milk is coming from.

As for Hanako it depends on which version. Kid Hanako would be a solid member with her buffs and ability to summon other people. She might annoy some of the members from time to time, but probably not to the point where they feel to need to kick her out. Demon Lord Hanako on the other hand wouldn't join the group at all. She's more than likely to challenge the Phantom Thieves to a fight for the hell of it. Keep in mind, this version of Hanako is strong enough to handle both Pram and Gig on her own WITH help. She'd give them hell.

Axel simply can not be trusted. Granted, he's not that bad of a guy, but he can be coerced to giving away their secrets, so it'd be better if he stays away.

Now as a kunoichi, Yukimaru would be a great fit for the team, and she would get along great with the other members given her politeness. That being said, like Rozalin, she's not too big of a fan of fighting unless she has to, so not a guaranteed spot.

Fubuki's not guaranteed as well but for different reasons. He's not as bad of a lone wolf compared to Kurtis, but there's still a chance he would take off on his own. Not to mention, his ruthless and reckless moments might rub some of the members the wrong way.

Mao is a no. Granted with the existence of the heart bank in Evil Academy, practically any character in Disgaea 3 would have the experience needed to be a member of the Phantom Thieves, but like with Tink, he would only join the group for the wrong reasons which might end up resulting in them fighting each other.

Raspberyl on the other hand would definitely join, especially if it means helping others with their hearts. She would consider this part of her volunteer work and her interacting with Ryuji and Makoto would be interesting since she's classified as a delinquent. I can also see her helping Sumire with her acrobatics.

And where Beryl is, Kyoko and Asuka are sure to follow. While they both have their envious moments from time to time, they are good people and will gladly help wherever needed. Not to mention with Kyoko also being a kunoichi, she's arguably the best candidate on the list so far.

Like with Adell, Almaz probably isn't that comfortable with the lies and the stealing, but he's less hesitant in this category by comparison, so he'd join. Plus he'd definitely be geeking out with Futaba.

Sapphire would also join, especially if Almaz and Beryl are in. Only downside is her constant hugging of Futaba and Morgana might be a problem.

Mr. Champloo would more than likely be on the sidelines trying to guide the Phantom Thieves from a distance rather than become an actual member. Same goes for other characters like Vyers and Goldion.

Master Bigstar joining is a maybe. He would join if he has to, but I'm not entirely sure if he would fully want to. That being said, I can totally see him trying to convince Yusuke to paint him.

Artists United Against Apartheid - Sun City (Alternate Video)

In 1985, Steven Van Zandt, along with Arthur Baker, Hart Perry, and Danny Schechter, formed Artists United Against Apartheid and Van Zandt would write “Sun City,” an anthemic Rock/Hip Hop/R&B song protesting the Apartheid system symbolized by the South African resort, Sun City. Over 50 artists including Gil Scott-Heron, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen,  Bono, Grandmaster Melle Mel, George Clinton, Run DMC, Jimmy Cliff, Ruben Blades, Pat Benatar, Herbie Hancock, Lou Reed, Joey Ramone, Peter Gabriel, Bob Geldof, Clarence Clemons, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Darlene Love, Bobby Womack, Afrika Bambaataa, Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Jackson Browne, Peter Wolf, Bonnie Raitt, Hall & Oates, Big Youth, Michael Monroe, Stiv Bators, Peter Garrett, Ron Carter, Ray Barretto, Nona Hendryx, and Miles Davis, performed on the track which spawned a conscious raising album of the same name.
