Went to the Megaplex furcon yesterday and I saw so many people "breaking the magic". People were poodling, taking off their heads in the hallways, generally doing what was comfortable without giving a fuck. And the best part was that no one seemed to care. No one complained or made a fuss. Glad to see people can be normal and well adjusted about dressing up as big, colorful animals.

Oh boy this is...quite an ask. Especially bc fanfic recs are so personal? What I think is a good fic will be vastly different from other people. I have a really high angst tolerance, so please double check tags with these. Also keep in mind that I mainly read donnie-centric fics.

Proud to say I was here for this fic since chapter 1 bc that NEVER happens with me

Donnie slowly gets more and more sick post rise movie and the rest of the characters must find out what’s wrong and find a cure. THIS ONE’S FOR YOU, MEDICAL NERDS. Author has done research and any inaccuracies have gone over this EMT’s head. I reread this one every chapter update and every time I’m haunted by “the blueberry french toast paragraph” No I will not explain further, go read it.

MY TOP FIC RECOMMENDATION

Spider's Web with Strings Attached by CurlySwirly | 125,661 [ON-GOING]

Donnie and Leo get kidnapped and are forced to fight in the battle nexus. This is my pick for the most well written fanfic and most in canon characterization with ALL the characters. You will HEAR the characters not just through the dialogue but also through the writing itself. As the reader, you will be beaten down and have your heart crushed mercilessly which makes the pay off the most rewarding, satisfying experience that I've personally ever felt with a fanfic. This fic lives in my head rent free and I think about it at least once a day. It is my all time favorite rise fic and I highly recommend it.

i feel it's so fucking stupid and ungrateful but it still hurts a little when someone gifts me something i just don't like. i don't know. i know it's dumb and inaccurate to astrain that much meaning to a simple gift, but it feels kinda like they don't know me. i guess it feels like people don't see me, like a reminder that the person i reflect and the person i feel like are incredibly different.

waking up from.a frightening dream at 4am in which a scary book was central which in the dream (could sort of tell I was dreaming on one level) I thoroughly believed was a real book that had been brought up the other day irl & that my dreaming mind was riffing off of bc I had not read yet. but having woken up. I'm not entirely convinced this is the case. and now I'm kind of scared to look it up tbh bc what's worse that it doesn't exist but I've dreamed about it several different nights & it's broken down my dream/reality conscious barrier (& I might dream it again??? this does happen to me) or that it does & I have to live in a world where it exists & I could read it.

i submitted to a lit mag where you enter your story & then comment on other submissions and vote on which ones you like best and like... some of these stories are truly Just Stories. i’m not trying to be mean (i also feel like my stories are Just Stories lol) but like... it makes it so impossible to comment on them lol. like. all i can say is that you did write a story. it is very story. nice work. 

#i did try to find comments for all of them on what worked for me & what i think could help in revision #but it was MUCH MUCH easier for some stories than other lol #i'm also doing a poetry submission which is even harder lol #i feel much less qualified to comment on poetry and poetry's just also a lot harder to critique for me #i sweated through every round of that one #i dont think my story will do any numbers in this contest i mostly just wanted feedback on the one i'm working on right now #mostly just proud i finished all my comments i tried doing this last year and couldn't keep up so i had to drop out

in primary school I used to pick cicada shells off of trees n put them on my shirt. cause the lil legs were good at sticking onto things + my shirts usually had pretty good grip. one time I collected a whole bunch n stored them behind a tree. but then I forgot where the tree was. sad

at this point what hope is there for any form of trans solidarity. I'm closeted and targeted just for existing every single day. I come on here and see people talking about how transmascs are "part of the problem". And yeah, I KNOW that the opinion of some assholes online shouldn't matter. But online is the only community I have! I'm a rural closeted trans guy who has to live at home with his parents! The only space in which I can try to negotiate who the fuck I am is one in which I'm considered logarithmically more harmful to trans women than if I were a cis woman. I mean, at this point it would be more merciful if you came to the village where all the teenagers who want to kill me live and armed them.
