finally, all of parker's things had been packed up; her entire life there, at ogden, neatly folded and tetris-cubed into three suitcases and a duffle bag. well, neatly enough.

she'd joked about it before, on numerous occasions—the lengthy walk from the alcott dorm building to, well, quite literally anywhere. each year, when the end-of-semester move out was upon them, it was only exacerbated by lugging luggage. a yearly tradition, of sorts, that used to make her laugh. bring less? if ogden wanted us to pack less, maybe they wouldn't plan such extravagant parties!

this year, however, it wasn't nearly as enjoyable. maybe it was because she was taking the trek alone. or, you know, maybe it was due to all of the suffering and tragedy that'd occurred last night, last semester, this past year.

still, when parker noticed a familiar figure some fifteen feet off, her mouth managed a grin. a melancholic one, sure, but one all the same. "i know, i can't get out of here fast enough, huh?" she called in leaky's direction, referring to her things. where her tone usually would've been buoyant and jesting, it held a baseline of kind, but hardly-amused.

     link had been waiting by his phone all night, waiting for confirmation from ollie that he’d done whatever the fuck he needed to do, to make sure that they can get in and out of that office and building without really being identified through any cameras. though, he did inform them that they had only a brief window of time. that was when he texted leaky, asking him to meet him on where they agreed on being — and he waited outside, quite anxiously, tapping his foot against the pavement, pacing back and forth... link was nervous. he wasn’t nervous about breaking into the dean’s office, per se, since he was confident in his skills. he was more nervous about his partner, who seemed panicky about the situation enough.

My air conditioner is leaky, so I had to put a small Tupperware container under it to catch the water, and now my cat thinks it’s her personal water fountain. Like, no bitch!!! I’m trying to stop the walls from rotting! Stop it! You’re gonna give yourself tetanus or something.

“quick!” parker had been at the edge of the pool, mostly full drink in hand, its contents lulling from side to side as she stole a glance down at her phone. she knew it was unbefitting to be looking at your phone during a party—especially so close to the water, practically begging for a mishap—but the sudden notification had stolen her attention. one palm meeting the ground, she pushed herself to stand and took the few steps over to the lifeguard stand. “hey—mind if i steal your seat for, i don’t know, thirty seconds?” it sounded odd, she was aware, but the perspective the higher angle would give was a silly request worth pursuing.

     link’s eyes begin to flutter awake, as the early morning light hits his eyes. as first instinct, link reaches for his phone to see the time — around 6 am. after the initial relief that came with i have time to sleep in, the second much better wave of sleep in for what ? it’s finally a break came in, knowing that he didn’t have to get to class at 8 am. he was still drowsy from the high of last night, and as he begins to remember it all, everything else from last night began to come back to him in his haze. link turns around, looking at leaky’s sleeping body next to them — then their eyes catch the piles of clothes all around the room. they begin to grin to themselves just a little at the events of last night, and how link has been waiting for it ever since they almost kissed at that pool party. as they begin to sit up, leaky stirs awake. “ — shit, sorry, didn’t mean to wake you now. it’s, uh.... early. ”
