Hollyleaf.
[ ID: A digital drawing of Hollyleaf from Warrior Cats on a transparent background. She is a black cat with stylized spiky fur that is sectioned off into various shades, from an off-white on her face, paws, and tail, to a warm, dark grey. She has tall ears with spiky tufts on the ends. She has a long face with warm green eyes and a reddish, dark pink nose. She has a dark marking on her cheek that looks like a freckle or mole.
Hollyleaf is standing upright, body facing left but head turned and facing right. Her stance is courageous and action-ready, claws on her front paws extended. Her tail is raised with the tip slightly curving down. She has a serious expression and is looking at something off in the distance ahead of her. End ID ]

HEWO EVERYPONY
[ID: A detail of a sketchbook page showing three study drawings in marker, two of an Atlantic horseshoe crab and one of a Rufa red knot in breeding plumage
The crabs are flat, with a dome-like shell the shape of a horseshoe covering much of their head and abdomen. The thorax is slightly smaller with spikes to the sides, which then leads to the long, spine-like tail. Only one is colored, it is pale brown.
The red knot is a sandpiper-like bird; with a compact and almost mango-shaped body and a long, black beak. The dorsal feathers are a light gray peppered with a darker color, which then turn to bars at the wings. The inner face and belly of the bird are a pale, reddish brown. End description.]

Charlie’s Horseshoe Crab costume - 2018 Halloween Costume Contest - Kimberly, the 'Horseshoe Crab' costume creator writes: Charlie, 4 years old, loves ocean animals and decided she wanted to be a horseshoe crab for Halloween. Her Dad made the costume using EVA foam exercise mats (using a heat gun to mold/sculpt the right shape), contact cement, and a Plasti-dip base coast with a spray paint finish. Spandex was used for the joints between the segments, so she can get around pretty well. The costume is put on using a handmade vest with Velcro straps for easy on and off.

trick or treat !! I dont talk much here, but I think your v cool & funky and I always love seeing your funky things :DD
Thank you friend! I appreciate your kind words. :)
Tell you what. On May 8th, you sent me an ask about horseshoe crabs, and I wanted to make a little comic about them like I've done with Magnapinnas and some other sea friends. I did the research, I have the sources down, I even got to finishing all the sketches and some lineart! But, for some reason I lost motivation midway through, I just wasn't very happy with how my art looked in the comic so production slowly fizzled out. Here's an unfinished page with a distribution map for all the species of horseshoe crab! Done by hand by yours truly.
Tumblr media
Blue is Atlantic horseshoe crab Limulus polyphemus, orange/yellow is trispine horseshoe crab Tachypleus tridentatus, green is mangrove horseshoe crab Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda, and red is coastal horseshoe crab (called Indo-Pacific horseshoe crab here) Tachypleus gigas. Hope this suffices as a treat!

OSDD system (collective name is Limulus)
——————————————————
Hello hello, we are an artist/writer based in New England. We love character/story creation, warm tones, and vintage aesthetics.
We tag almost everything on this blog for our own sake, please tell me if there's something you need blacklisted! Also no DNI but I'm not afraid to block people that make us uncomfortable.
We as a whole are an OSDD-1b diagnosed system, and we are very open about this. We split *very* easily and we have a 100+ alter count. Because of this, memory isn't much of a strong suit, so please be patient. We're also very willing to educate if asked.
We also consider ourself objectumsexual/romantic and are also very open about this. If something that harmless bothers you, idk what to tell you. Just block.
Minors are allowed to follow as long as you are 16+ and please blacklist #nsfw. You will be blocked if I find you interacting with posts tagged as such.
That's about it! Ask box is always open and you are welcome to tag us in posts. Hope you have a good day
<3

you came out of nowhere and proceeded to give all us objectums a FULL COURSE MEAL? for FREE? thank you so much.... we are all thriving... also, your car characters are so pleasingly anthropomorphised... up until now i've never really seen a car anthropomorphised in a way I liked, but yours are sooooo charming and appealing!!
oh thank you! I have a bunch of art backlogged from the past few months of me drawing nothing but robots and general objectum stuff (still am) I'm really glad people like it so much! I avoided posting here because I was shy, and I didn't think it would get much attention initially so I am very grateful> As for the cars I can't take full credit for how they look I was greatly inspired by one of my best buds Limulus (@oddlyautumnal / @gayworldtradecenter) for how I draw cars, I've known him for years and it's always been drawing car guys since I've known it :) idk if he posts them on tumblr or not but go check him out anyway!!

Recent updated designs for a big wc rewrite au story we’re working on with @bytevamp and @planefood :-)
Left to right: Embershriek, Sunsetsky, Mousestep
More to come!
[ ID: three drawings of cartoon cats on varying colored backgrounds.
The first cat is large and blocky with complex, dark brown and orange calico markings that include stripes. He has a messy bobtail and extra toes on his paws. He has a light brown chin, chest, and belly. He has small, torn ears. He has a big chin and yellowed teeth with a snaggletooth. He is smiling with a sinister expression.
The second cat is tall and elegant. She has a fluffy mane and a long tail with drooping fur that curls behind her. Her main colors are varying tints of brownish-orange and cream, but her mane and a stripe down her back are a dark reddish-purple. She has big ears with tufts of fur on the top. She has a worried expression and is looking away from the viewer.
The third cat is a short and stout golden tabby with folded ears. They have cream fur on their chest, belly, legs, and tailtip. They also have a tuft of fur spread across their forehead that is the same color. They have swirling stripes on their sides. They have blue eyes that have visible glossy eyelids. Their nose is pink with splotches of black. They are looking away from the viewer, smiling, and holding a bundle of plants in their jaws, one of which is foxglove. End ID ]

Deep Blue Limulus - Limited Edition 1 of 1, Will Eskridge
The Deep Blue Waves series celebrates the stunning and often misunderstood creatures of the sea. With this series, I harness the power of the sun to create large cyanotype solargrams of sea creatures. Using only plant life from my backyard, I arrange leaves, twigs and vines to resemble various sea creatures. This piece is a cyanotype photogram on Stonehenge watercolor paper mounted on a handmade cradled wood panel. A thin layer of renaissance wax is applied for protection. Signed, wired and ready to hang!

Art is everywhere when you begin to see.
My book is almost done, and I begin to spread a little of its light into the world. The book is about creativity. I hold the theory that each of us is born with a creative core. Life is not going to be easy for the super-majority of us. It doessn’t take long for us to lose focus.
To quote Sherwood Anderson, “The thing, of course, is to make yourself alive. Most people remain all of their lives in a stupor. The point of being an artist is that you may live.”
How to remain the artist is where my book’s focus will be. Follow me here if you are interested in the final process. I choose the painting above for my first post as the tenacity of Delaware’s horseshoe crabs—Limulus Polyphemus to be exact—is legendary. For around two hundred million years, the Limulus has been around and comes to breed in the warmer waters of the Atlantic. Finding our bay each spring is a favorite spot for them to ride high tides to shore and lay their eggs. They prove when you are persistent, you get results that last.
Happy creative life. Enjoy. Taylor
