thinking about how far them there six idiots have come since their horrible histories days... the goofy sketches... the even goofier makeup and wigs... to doing bill the film and showing a hint of the emotional weight they could start to give things... yonderland what a fun romp i loved that martha leading lady it's what she DESERVES and then ghosts... beloved ghosts... so brilliant so fun so heartfelt so goofy and silly and so heartstring-tugging... can't wait to see what they do next may they stay writing and performing friends forever, absolute national treasures...

KYRIE: Al? ALPHANEI: There you are. I thought you’d never wake. KYRIE: Wake? No… I’m… I’m dreaming. You’re gone. ALPHANEI: So I am. And you’re losing faith. KYRIE: I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to help you. Everything feels so out of my control. ALPHANEI: I know. KYRIE: Tell me where you are. Tell me how to find you. ALPHANEI: Not this time, little brother. KYRIE: But— ALPHANEI: It’s like I always told you. The Moon watches over us, and only she knows the way. KYRIE: Don’t give me that nonsense. The Moon has never done anything for us. Even now, I can’t see a damn thing. If it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t be here. We’d be somewhere else, living normal lives, and you’d be safe. ALPHANEI: Is it really true that she gives us nothing? Do you think you’d be happier never knowing them? KYRIE: I… ALPHANEI: It’s not a perfect life, but it was ours. KYRIE: We deserved better. ALPHANEI: So many of us do. Do not forget what drives the Selenehelion, truly. All those wishes longing to be granted. I know you hear them, too. KYRIE: And all the pain? All the suffering it’s caused? ALPHANEI: Mm. Remember it, Kyrie. When the time is right, you will find your way to me.

What are some instances of retconning in animorphs that you have noticed? (aside from the first book)
Honestly, Animorphs is not bad. Compared to Sherlock Holmes or Percy Jackson, there's hardly any retconning at all. Compared to series like Dune or X-Men that built in-story retcon mechanisms because of the infinite overlapping retcons, Animorphs is practically airtight. Not Harry Potter or Mistborn airtight, sure, but better than any other multi-authored 20+ book series I know.
However, there are some. Ax's mention in #8 of occasional hork-bajir wars doesn't fit with Hork-Bajir Chronicles showing they have no concept of violence before andalites arrive. Cassie's line about "my niece" in #37 is not in line with her saying her parents are her only family in #49. Rachel suspects at times that Jordan's a controller (#12, #22) but in #49 Jordan's dismissed as even a potential threat.
And then there's the absolute clusterfuck of Tobias's parentage.
In #3, he says "my parents died." In #13, it's "both my folks left a long time ago." In Andalite Chronicles, when Elfangor asks about Loren: "She disappeared. When I was just little... I guess she died." In #23, he says "both my parents are dead." But also DeGroot says "Your father... who died? That may not have been your real father" implying a stepfather we never meet. After Elfangor's will it kinda falls into place, but even then...
Elfangor says he and Loren were ~14 mentally, ~18 physically, when they got to Earth, and that "when she was ready by human standards, I married her." He mentions getting multiple college degrees, but that it's only "three years later" that the Ellimist abducts him back to space. No one apparently notices he was gone — Ax has no idea Elfangor lived on Earth, and didn't notice him missing (#8), so... he time-traveled back and lived those three years twice? And no one noticed him being seven years older because... Ellimist fuckery? There's mention of Loren dating someone else after Al's "death", so at least the random step-dad is consistent. But Loren doesn't mention him in #49, so I guess she got remarried and rewidowed between Tobias's birth and his third birthday, and then she forgot him.
Anywhoo, it kind of lines up sorta if you squint, but I'm 99.9% sure that there was some degree of retcon somewhere in there.

Headcanon that Ryke sleeps in that dad pose. Like with his arms crossed over his chest and he actually looks super relaxed. Whether he's sleeping with one of his girls or one of his nieces/nephews or even by himself he's always sleeping like that.

I’m rereading How I Live Now because I just finished the book of the same name (fantastic titling, the depth of the allusion was lovely) and that brief exchange about time travel in chapter four took me out. This time Tom gets to cryptically reference absurd happenings and never explain it. Of course he just went home and didn’t mention that that happened, of course the Animorphs don’t know about it
1) How I Live Now is on my list of sci-fi books that are just... life-changingly, life-ruiningly good. I'm a huge sucker for the ant's-eye view of the apocalypse, when there are heroes off fighting the eldritch abominations but that has nothing to do with our protagonists who are just trying to survive. That story is epic and intimate at the same time, which is not easy to do. So if I induced anyone to read it by accidentally advertising it in a fic, then that's wonderful news.
2) The moment in How I Live Now the fic where Tom passingly alludes to having time traveled and offers no actual explanation was part of my broad headcanon about him, that he never bothers to make waves or draw attention when he doesn't need to. He didn't go rushing home after the events of Escape from L.A. and tell Jake all about it; he called the Matter Over Mind office's security team, added a layer of screening to their mail without bothering to explain why, and then stopped to get a pizza on his way home to take a nap. If it'd ever come up he'd have mentioned it, but otherwise, why bother?
Broadly, I headcanon Tom as coming off like the single blandest, most boring person in existence. He doesn't draw attention to himself, he rarely smiles, he rarely raises his voice, he has a bad habit of trailing off mid-sentence and never picking back up... You can be in the same room as him for half an hour before you even notice he's there, and then your first thought will be "is that guy still breathing?" People who don't know him that well mistake him for being dumb as a rock and emotionless to boot. People like Jake and Bonnie who are fluent in his quirks know that he's often sarcastic without sounding sarcastic, and can be highly competent at everything from jump shots to logistics planning. But Marco can be forgiven for dismissing Tom, or else overlooking him entirely.

I referred to sarah as my stepsister for the first time last night (with question marks and the caveat that our parents are not actually married, but simply bc it's easier than saying my dad's partner's daughter) and then I woke up today to the sound of my father proposing to betsy fjskjfjfd
