~
“baby,” you whine, pushing your arms together a bit to accentuate your tits. “don’t you wanna touch? you love touching my tits.”
the sheer, black lingerie set you were saving for a special occasion is hugging every curve of your body perfectly as you straddle your boyfriend. a garter belt squeezing around your right thigh, you know you’re irresistible to anyone with a pulse.
but apparently your boyfriend has passed away since he sat down on the couch with a huff twenty minutes ago. he’s still warm though and that’s permission enough for you to let him have it.
“oh my god,” you groan; smacking your hand on the leather armrest like a frustrated child. “woongie! want you to touch me so bad.”
“well, you should’ve thought of that before you let another man put his hands all over you,” jiwoong answers-- head turning to the side in the ultimate display of pettiness.
you sigh exasperatedly. “it was a massage, woongie. a professional one that you paid for!”
“so?” he asks with a pout. “are you suggesting i’m a cuckold by my own doing?”
“you are the only one suggesting that actually,” you reply, running your hands down his clothed chest. “the only thing i’m suggesting is that you fuck me. and i’m strongly suggesting it.”
“oh yeah?” jiwoong responds, one eyebrow raised in interest. “are you sure those words aren’t actually meant for pierre: the unnecessarily handsome french masseuse?”
“you literally gave me a gift certificate for my birthday!” you exclaim, hitting his chest lightly in frustration. “baby, i tried to request an ugly massage therapist. the woman at the desk looked at me like i was being rude. and i was! for you.”
jiwoong’s eyes go straight to your barely-covered core and you think for a second he’s finally about to give in. “you asked for an ugly masseuse and she gave you a former louis vuitton runway model? i should’ve just given you tickets to magic mike live!”
“kim jiwoong-ah, if you don’t fck me right now, i swear to god,” you threaten emptily, sinking down on one of his grey sweatpant-adorned thighs. “i’m just gonna use you however i want.”
jiwoong folds his arms across his chest in a final act of defiance, attention returning to the tv screen. “knock yourself out.”
it takes everything in you not to whine like a little spoiled brat, but you manage to suppress it. instead, you grind a little harder down onto jiwoong’s thigh. his legs are lazily spread apart in the most enticing way. you could reach right down his pants and grab him in your hands (a tried and true method that jiwoong loves), but you have something to prove too.
so you repeat the grinding motion, your heat connecting again with the toned flesh of your boyfriend’s perfect thighs. at first it’s just for show-- you need his attention and you’ll do anything you have to to get it back.
but after a few moments, a soft moan escapes your throat. jiwoong’s breath audibly hitches; his body stiffening a bit at the sound of your pleasure. despite this, his eyes stay fixed on the screen.
as a familiar knot grows just below your stomach, you almost start to forget about your goal. maybe it’s desperation speaking, but riding your boyfriend’s thigh is actually a lot more stimulating than you thought it’d be.
“fuck,” you whine, increasing your pace involuntarily. your hands are gripping the back of the couch, eyes closing as you rapidly approach your high.
suddenly, jiwoong’s thigh grows harder-- a sturdier surface for you to grind on. he’s flexing his muscles for you, helping you reach your climax like the perfect boyfriend he is.
“gonna cum all over my thigh, baby?” jiwoong asks, voice already noticeably fucked out. it’s not a mystery who won this game. “gonna make a mess all over my pants like a fucking angel?”
“i--... oh my god, i--...” you cry, strong hands finding your hips and guiding them down for you onto his thigh. you place your hand gently at the base of jiwoong’s neck, pulling at the collar of his shirt and toying with his collarbone. “i--... ‘m cumming...”
pleasure taking over, you reach your high as jiwoong continues to guide your hips for you. “woongie, love you. love you so much.”
your eyes flutter open to see jiwoong’s cheeks flushed, his eyes locked on your core. you look down to find that you have made a pretty little mess, honey dripping from you and soaking his grey sweatpants. he lifts you ever so slightly up and back down, watching as your juices seep through your sheer panties and onto him.
jiwoong meets your gaze for less than a second before you’re wrestled off the couch and onto your back on the carpeted floor below. carpet aside, it’s not a painless fall and as your boyfriend is hungrily ripping his pants off and burying his cock inside you, you decide it’s a good time to start playing again.
“oh my god, woongie,” you complain, knowing that your back’s gonna hurt even worse in the morning. “are you trying to make me need another massage?”
“no. more. massages,” jiwoong growls, punctuating each word with a deep thrust. “unless i’m the one giving them.”
“fuck,” you whine, pulling him even deeper inside you as you wrap your legs around him. trapping him. holding him hostage exactly where his possessive ass wants to be. “surely you don’t think you’re as skilled as a professional masseuse?”
“i’ll get certified,” he manages to grunt, grabbing hold of your thighs and pushing them up to your chest in a mating press. “or would you prefer pierre’s cock inside you instead?”
“that’s not fair,” you reply, absolutely relishing in your reinstated role of bratty sub. “how can i choose if i’ve never seen both options?”
“you’re trying to kill me, aren’t you?” jiwoong asks, kneading your thighs mercilessly-- striking his palm across the side with a gorgeous smack. “you’re gonna kill me so you can fuck pierre and then kill him too.”
“i’ll let you live a little longer if you cum inside me,” you promise, running your hand through his hair as he stares at you helplessly. “please, woongie. need you to fill me up.”
you can see it in his eyes: he’ll give you anything you want. he’d even let you fuck pierre if you really wanted to. but you don’t. not even a little bit. you just want jiwoong.
“fuck, i love you so much, baby,” he pants as his thrusts grow shallower and more sporadic. “gonna fill up this perfect... little...”
his hips finally spasm; a sweet moan swallowed down as you feel him spill into you. you sigh contentedly at the warmth inside of you, your boyfriend laying his head on your chest-- letting go of your legs from where he’d been pinning them and collapsing on top of you in exhaustion.
you wrap your thighs around jiwoong’s waist, making sure he can’t escape (he doesn’t want to).
jiwoong’s jealousy issues weren’t really harmful. he knew you’d never actually leave him for another man; what he always seemed to forget is that you’d never even dream of it. and besides, whatever misunderstanding arose always ended in fiery, passionate sex like this.
so could anyone really blame you for making up sexy french massage therapists just to make your boyfriend jealous from time to time? not to worry... you’ll give jiwoong a couple months to recover from pierre before you drop your next fabrication on him: dante, the sensual italian chef.

JACOBIN FICTION CONVENTION MEETING 37: CHÉVALIER (2022)
Tumblr media
1. The Introduction
Well, hello there, Citizens! I’m back and I hope you missed me! Sorry for the multiple delays and all, but luckily I’m back at it now!!!
Okay, so this movie has been on my radar ever since it got announced. A story featuring a real Black man who lived during Frev? Sign me up! This has excellent potential and also, to my knowledge, at least a partially Black crew so we get more representation of marginalized groups in crews and on the screen!
At least, those were my thoughts before I actually watched the movie, but we’ll get to whether it was a good media piece later.
I found the movie on Russian language streaming websites, but it’s available on Amazon Prime and Disney Plus for those who would like to watch the original English version.
This review is dedicated to @idieonthishill , @vivelareine (who has a review that unpacks the movie from a historical pov and is welcome to add to the review 😊), @theravenclawrevolutionary , @sansculottides , @citizentaleo , @saintjustitude , @avergehistoryenjoyer , @lanterne and @jenxiez .
Okay, let the Jacobin Fiction Convention reopen!
2. The Summary
The movie tells a story of a real man, Joseph Bologne aka Chévalier de Saint-Georges. Recognized son of a white French nobleman and an enslaved black woman, Bologne must navigate the cutthroat world of the Parisian high society, dealing with racism and trying to reconcile his “white” upbringing with his African roots.
Sounds interesting, but let’s see how the premise was handled.
3. The Story
The Introduction scene - a musical duel between Mozart and Bologne, was actually quite good in my opinion. So were the other beginning scenes of kid Bologne growing up in France as an aristocrat and being bullied by his white peers, plus his father telling him not to let society break him.
These scenes establish quite well that Bologne has to carve out a place for himself among French nobility and make a lot of effort to get even a hint of acceptance. Sounds like a nice setup, right? Well, unfortunately at times Bologne in the movie doesn’t seem to have much agency at all.
For example, his title is granted to him by Marie-Antoinette basically on a whim, handed to him on a silver platter because the queen was impressed by his fencing skills, which in my opinion isn’t enough to show a character who has to work hard to be accepted. I think it would’ve been better if Bologne had at least several impressive fencing performances to prove himself and show more of his skills.
On the flip side, there are characters who have a bit too much agency. For example, in the story it’s Marie Antoinette who is calling all the shots and giving all the orders in France, even though Louis is alive and well. It’s definitely jarring to see how people say “by the order of the queen” when the king should be the one mentioned instead.
I didn’t care much for the love triangle storyline, but it’s my own personal preference and also the fact that it, like many parts of the story, isn’t all that nuanced. So yeah, very bland and boring.
Yes, Citizens, unfortunately nuance has officially left the chat, especially when it comes to the main character. See, at first Bologne doesn’t give a shit about poverty and famine plaguing France. He is enjoying his cushy life and his friendship with the queen of France instead. However, you know what makes him join the Jacobins? A fucking PERSONAL FALLING OUT WITH THE QUEEN. Not promises of abolishing slavery or granting rights to black people, not his own ideals… Just fucking pettiness!
It would have been much better if he didn’t have a falling out with Marie Antoinette and signed up for fighting with the Republicans because he genuinely wanted to do what was right, not due to personal beef. Especially since that was why he joined Frev in reality – the real Bologne made a choice to do the right thing simply because it seemed to be the right thing to him. Not out of petty desire to get back at the queen.
Also, the conflict between Bologne and his mother about how he is acting “too white”… eeeehh. To me it felt very anachronistic but maybe I’m wrong and there is more nuance missing because EVERYONE at court had to carry themselves in a certain way to make it. If you couldn’t do it, you were socially FUCKED. Besides, Nanon (the mother) and her friends crack really mean jokes about Bologne being “too white”, which is… well, an INTERESTING way to endear him to his mother’s culture…
The movie is juggling admittedly anachronistic theme about black culture, anti-slavery message, court drama and love triangles… and the juggling is done quite sloppily too, I’m afraid.
Also, just to illustrate how inaccurate this movie is, the events of 1789 are shown happening in 1776 for some reason, which shows just how much the creators didn’t give a shit about research.
Moving on.
4. The Characters
I really didn’t care for Bologne to be honest. He shows selfishness and pettiness, doesn’t have enough agency in the story and is also very inconsistent. After falling out with Marie Antoinette, he claims he defended her, which… he didn’t! At least it’s not shown in the movie! What the fuck happened to “show, don’t tell”?! Also, his incredible talents aren’t really shown in the way they could’ve been, more on that in the soundtrack section. A missed opportunity, really.
Nanon, Bologne’s mother, is a real embodiment of the themes of slavery and trauma present in the the movie. She merely exists to push him to embrace his African heritage and to remind him that he will never be truly accepted by other nobles. I honestly wish there was more to her character, because she ends up being little more than a walking theme embodiment.
Marie Antoinette here is a capricious, fair weather friend. She CLAIMS to support Bologne, but does it in indirect ways out of fear that nobles wouldn’t appreciate her openly backing a black man. Even though she is an absolute monarch so she can afford to show her support more openly. Actions speak louder than words, and she is clearly not a true ally of Bologne.
Marie Joséphe, Bologne’s love interest, is a woman trapped in a miserable marriage and yearning to act in Bologne’s operas. While I do sympathize with her, I believe that there really isn’t much depth to her either. We just don’t learn much about her. This is becoming a common theme…
Also, just as a side note while we’re talking about characters, many white characters in the movie are shown as mere flat caricatures. I can understand why, but, again, this doesn’t show nuance as in reality, while Bologne definitely had to deal with racism, he was not only accepted, but adored as a celebrity, but we don’t see that reflected in the attitudes of other people towards him. Because apparently the brains of the spectators will implode when they see nuance in a modern movie, it seems.
5. The Setting
Personally I wasn’t that impressed by the costumes or the settings. I’ve seen much better ones. Nothing bad, but nothing outstanding either.
6. The Soundtrack
Where the fuck is actual music from that time period?! Where is music by Bologne himself?! It’s a fucking missed opportunity and I don’t know what prevented the creators from including the music written by the MAIN DAMN CHARACTER into a biopic about him. A shame that they missed yet another opportunity.
7. The Conclusion
Honestly… I can’t say much when it comes to what this movie is fucking about. The story is bland, lacks nuance, doesn’t follow basic historical facts and is pulled in a million directions.
For a movie about an obscure figure, it doesn’t show much of the things Bologne was known for and at times even strips him of agency. We need to have better POC representation, because this is just not it.
The movie is mediocre, bland and forgettable. Don’t waste your time on it.
With that, I declare today’s meeting of the Jacobin Fiction Convention to be over. Thank you for your patience and support during this hiatus of mine.
Stay tuned and stay safe!
Love,
Citizen Green Pixel

sending this well after you've probably gone to bed HOWEVER i am always ready to report for louis/armand/lestat duty so HERE GOES:
Every time they get in a petty fight, someone rearranges the vinyl collection at Trinity Gate. Louis organizes alphabetically by artist, Armand organizes by genre, and Lestat organizes chronologically. The music room is a goddamn war zone.
When Lestat is an Extra Extra Good Boy (or just in need of some tlc in general) Louis and Armand make the best mani-pedi team. Louis takes a foot and Armand takes a hand, then they switch for the opposite side.
Somehow Armand gets ahold of the tattered old TVL band shirt that Louis used to sleep in. He lounges around the house in it and has both Lestat and Louis drooling in SECONDS (bonus smut points if Louis and Lestat both take turns fucking him in it)
Also this is just Louis/Armand but listen i've been thinking a lot lately of how strong Armand is!!! Like I know the fun thing about his character is that he's got the craziest mental tenacity for someone trapped in a small/young body, but I do think people sleep on how physically strong he is as well. Anyway, all I'm saying is: I want to see him hoist Louis up against a wall and fuck him <3 I want Louis to get overpowered and dicked down by someone half a foot shorter than him LOL it would be good for him!!!!!!
ASHLEYYYYY OH MY GOD I LOVE ALL THESE SO MUCH YOU ALWAYS HIT ME WHERE I LIVE!!! 😭😭😭
i love thinking about what their domestic life would look like LMAO canon or human AU because all three of them complement and contrast each other so fucking well, i'm all over that all day every day!!!! asksfkdsgj rip the music room 💀 i hope to god nobody gets petty enough to fuck with the library and louis's meticulously thought out system of displaying his books that only he knows (lestat gets petty enough, armand knows better -- tbh idk if he actually ever gets mad at louis? as easily as lestat sets him off, louis has the opposite effect. but for argument's sake, i think if louis did piss armand off, armand would react by pretending he's fine but he would immediately start being infantilizing and weird. really, really emphasizing the "sweet, dusty louis" every other sentence like he's marius talking to a wain victorian orphan).
NO BUT THIS IS SO SWEET!!! not to get too serious but for canon fic i think about court era!lestat a lot and like how he comes right out and says to marius "you don't want a prince in me, you want a figurehead, you would be the ruler here" and really just all the times he sounds so Tired & Done™️ in general with everything. lestat getting some TLC from his consort and madame de pompadour on the regular is harm reduction at its finest lbr. i wanna see armand and louis giving him a perfumed bath a la QotD but without the trauma (and like in Air Catcher too now that i've triggered the memory, i love your brain so much DO YOU KNOW HOW OFTEN I REREAD THAT FIC 🥹)
OH MY GOD STOP PLEASE!!! i wanna know like was armand intentional about wearing louis's lestat shirt? in his mind, is this The Next Logical Step in their threesome relationship? was he expecting a reaction or was he just looking to self-soothe and instead of going for one of louis's baggy sweaters that would hit the thigh on armand, he just grabbed the shirt? regardless, i hope they dped him 🫶🏼 (i totally need this to happen both in canon verse and in teen au future verse)
NO ASHLEY YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND LMAO NOBODY KNOWS BECAUSE I HAVE TOO MUCH GOING ON TO ACTUALLY WRITE BUT THE SMUT MACHINE NEVER STOPS AND LATELY I JUST WANT ARMAND TO TOP EVERYONE!!!! i wanna see the short king bend back those long legs and go to town on these catholic boys! 🤧 armand is the ultimate switch and he is, in his own words, NOT A WAIF. he can lift that bag of bones easily!!! ❤️ and i remember we talked about like top/bottom dynamics with lestat and louis--either physically or just energy wise--and how it would probably take a considerable amount of time and effort for louis to heal enough to relinquish that control to lestat again following the RR years and all that went down... i'm thinking like if i wanted squish armand in there and I DO, it would be a good step in that direction for louis to practice being open (get it? i'll see myself out) with armand first (literally expanding on PL canon here just adding the sex LMAO). tl;dr: it would be good for both of them if armand fucked that sad, wet man (as a treat) ALSO ALSO SEE MY FAVE "ARMAND FUCKS LOUIS" FICLET THAT IS WAY TOO FUCKING SHORT

Hey sea! Can you please give me the interpretations on each song from FITF?
Hi there!
I was looking at the FITF tracklist again, and something struck me that other people have mentioned but which didn’t really crystallize in my mind before. But this post made me realize that something really snapped in Louis’ mind during the pandemic.
In Louis’ Alt Press interview, he said, “I wondered if this was going to be my narrative for the rest of my life, where I'm just constantly frustrated that life wasn't dealing me the hand that I wanted.”
Louis talked about a few factors motivating him, and once he got started with writing Faith In The Future, things went really quickly. He got most of the songs done within 3-4 months of writing. The factors were:
1. Being able to sell 160k livestream tickets: he realized that he could “do this at a high fucking level.”
2. The influence of John Frusciante and Red Hot Chili Peppers, whose Live at Slane Castle documentary Louis watched FIVE times. Frusciante had left RHCP during a period of personal struggle, only to return to the band while making solo albums over 32 years. 5x is an obsession.
3. Moving away from the heavy, confessional balladry of Walls toward the lighter, more dynamic stage-driven Faith In The Future. Louis not only felt that he could do it (“Self-doubt, worry and a lack of confidence have, at times, plagued Tomlinson”), but that he DESERVES it. Louis feels his worth. The boosted confidence injects wry humor into much of FITF: despite the heavy themes, the album is ticklish with laughter.
So, just keeping this in mind, I realized that the songs on FITF generally had a theme of Louis’ saying, “You can’t have me anymore.”
In Walls, Louis was writing about going through a breakup, feeling forlorn and lonely (Only The Brave), wishing for reconciliation (Always You) and begging for love (Defenceless). Being alone was something he was afraid of, something that made him feel darkness and insecurity. Even when Louis was reconciled to being alone and trying to be brave about it (Walls, Fearless, Copy of a Copy of a Copy), there was still a feeling that he was responsible. Maybe he was not worthy of love. He woke alone with the same “problems under the sheets.” He had been Too Young. He was addicted to a Habit that had long ago stopped giving him happiness. Louis’ reaction to the pain: Kill My Mind.
In a way, he was working through the stages of grief (many types), but hadn’t really made it through depression.
In FITF, Louis’ attitude has flipped a switch. He is no longer scared or insecure. Louis has become aware that he’s amongst The Greatest. He knows that his journey is worthwhile; he can build his life for his own happiness, and he will no longer beg ex-lovers or any lovers. Whoever wants to come along with him is Lucky to be on this trip. There’s a feeling of light, wind, openness, amplitude, a hope for Paradise, the relief that he can look at any thoughts of suicide in the rearview mirror with gratitude for having survived, a grace and delicacy to his spirit, a distancing from personal anguish. On this album, Louis is nonchalant, effortlessly cool, calm, mature, sexy. It’s what makes him irresistible in every recent photo, and what gives his Instagram selfies an elegant, feline quality. Louis has defined success and peace on his terms, and love seems both sadder but also more attainable, calmer, warmer, because Louis loves himself more.
For Louis’ Track By Track explanations, you can read them here. These are my interpretations.
The Greatest: I’m never going to be in the cold again. We will never see the setbacks we saw in the past. No one will make us disappear again.
Written All Over Your Face: these petty fights are stupid. Whenever you feel like it, you can find me on the other side waiting. And by the way, both your anger and your desire for me are written on your face.
Bigger Than Me: I needed a bigger perspective. Time gave me a chance to rethink.
Lucky Again: there’s no use wishing things were different. Fate has other plans for me. I’m worthy of love; I will find it again.
Face The Music: forget consequences and anxiety. Live in the moment. Your instinct will tell you what’s right.
Chicago: our breakup hurt me incredibly deeply. No matter how much time has passed, it feels just like yesterday. But I learned from it, and I can rise above it.
All This Time: no matter how hard I try, part of me will never be “normal.” But what stays won’t be reminders of the pain of trying to fit in. It will be the love. Pleasure is pain. But pain is a lesson, hard won.
Out Of My System: A wall is a wall but sometimes it feels fucking good to smash it down.
Headline: you thought you could judge me and pin me like an insect, but you were wrong. We could have had a love like a poem; instead, you treated our love like the fucking tabloids. If you had tried to understand me, we could have made our own forever. Now I’m free; I have flown.
Saturdays: my heart might be broken and I’m a grade-A sap tbh, but my hometown is my secret weapon. Whenever I feel lost, I will always find myself there: “there” being the metaphor of Home that I carry inside. My childhood memories will always tell me who I am.
Silver Tongues: I’m a 90’s kid. I guess I’m a 90’s man now. Part of me still lives there. And I want to tell the kid in 2004 and all his friends, you’re gonna be alright. Hang on. Be good. Things will work out.
She Is Beauty We Are World Class: a brilliant night out
Common People: Doncaster is my touchstone. It grounds me and makes me who I am, reminds me what’s real.
Angels Fly: sometimes you have to table your grief and share a drink or ten with a friend.
Holding Onto Heartache: sometimes hearts don’t heal. Life feels like death. Every day feels worse than the previous day. Bad things pile up. What can we do? I am an artist, and I can write a grand, magnificent bridge to scream it all out, and it feels pretty goddamn cathartic! And maybe, maybe I can help others feeling the same way. My high is higher than most, and my lows are darker, but we can resist the pull of darkness together.
That’s The Way Love Goes: it’s their loss 🫡
You can see that many of these songs have the theme of recovering from loss, from heartache, but with an ebullient lightness that was missing from Walls. Most of all, Louis is also stepping back from sadness and self-blame, and giving himself some value. He knows he’s put in the work and he deserves good things, and he’s willing to wait for the payoff.
Forgot to add these photos of Louis looking thirty, flirty, and fucking hot.

FAITH IN THE FUTURE - LYRIC ANALYSIS
This is about to be the longest thing I’ve ever posted, so buckle up and prepare yourselves cause I’ve been typing this out for three hours.
Disclaimer for any who need it - these are my personal thoughts and opinions as someone who has been in the fandom for 12 years, has listened to the album 10+ times in the last three days, and got to experience some of the new songs live. You don’t have to agree with me. You don’t have to like what I have to say. But you do have to remain respectful, and if I see any nonsense you’ll just get blocked cause I don’t have time to deal with childishness in my inbox.
Below are my thoughts on each of the 16 songs on Faith in The Future. Please enjoy my ramblings 💙💙
The Greatest:
This song has two very clear meanings to me, and I believe them both in equal measure, which is unusual for me, because usually one of the concepts that I see in a song is a bit of a reach, but hear me out. This song is both about his relationship with his fans and how, when apart, it's not special, but together they are far more powerful than they are apart (alone we're only / just as good as the rest / together we're the greatest). In that respect and with that concept, it's the perfect album opener (can personally attest to it being PHENOMENAL as a show opener - the drums beat right in your chest, it's amazing). The other concept is, of course, a relationship, one that they were comfortable in until they had to hide it away (said I had a plan for us / time it came and changed it all / we had to disappear). But even though they did that, how they feel about each other still shows (the way you know something / your face reminded me / of a love you cannot hide / but don't need to tell me why) and reminiscing on the old times, being able to just exist in them in the present when they're together, making up for the time they spend apart when they're together again and the opportunities they missed because of the life they lead and getting to experience those things in their own way (back dancin' in the dark / back to the very start / finding pieces that can fit / making up for what we missed). It ends with the last line of the chorus (Life for us is never over) and it's such a powerful message - that no matter what or when or how, together they're better than they are apart and they will never give up on that.
Written All Over Your Face:
This is truly just Louis writing about Harry being the dramatic aquarius that he is. It's sexy, it's edgy, it's got that really super catchy guitar riff to start it off, and the lyrics just speak of an experience that Louis is very well accustomed to and has dealt with on many occasions (when you don't want coffee in the morning / I know I'm in a hole). That line isn't metaphorical, it's specific. The entirety of the second verse is just pure gold - he's said these things before, he doesn't know why they keep happening, but he knows that when it's over, they'll have the best sex they've ever had. Then, of course, you have the last line of the chorus (So when you find out what we're fighting for / I'll be ready to talk) which again speaks to experience, knowing that he has to wait until Harry figures out what the petty thing is that's bothering him, and then he'll be there waiting to talk it out.
Bigger Than Me:
I've talked about this one at length so I will try to keep it short, but this song is just so powerful in its use of metaphors while also being direct as fuck. It also has a double meaning - one rooted in his experience in the industry, and one rooted in the concept of being queer. The lines that stand out most to me with the first analysis are those at the end of each verse (all of these voices, all of these choices / I don't hear them anymore). So many people have tried to tell him what to do, where to go, who to date, how to do this or that, and he's made mistakes along the way, but now that he's here, comfortable in what he's doing and who he is as an artist and a person, he doesn't hear those voices anymore. When people in his life told him that the music industry would change him, he would just smile and nod, but there was an innate fear that he would lose himself in that process (When somebody told me I would change / I used to hide behind a smile / When somebody told me I would change / I was afraid I don't know why). But he came to the conclusion through all of his experiences that it's okay to change, it's okay to adapt, because the whole thing, the world and his career and the relationships he made along the way were way bigger than just him.
In the concept of the lyrics standing for the journey of queerness, again we come back to the beginning of the chorus. As he grew, matured, figured out what and who he wanted, people always had an opinion on it, would always be giving their two cents to him, and of course he was scared of who he would become because the reactions would be so varied, could take away everything he'd worked for. The longer he kept the secret, the harder it would be to tell the truth. People would say he lied to them, that he changed, but people do that. They change, they grow, they learn, and it's okay to do those things as long as you're staying true to yourself. And he probably felt isolated in his experience. Even knowing that other artists had been through this before, it's hard to look at it that way when it's happening to you, but he finally realized that it's bigger than just him. It's a whole industry, a whole world, of people just like him who are struggling, who are learning, who are going to change, and that thought was a comfort.
Lucky Again:
I've had much longer to think on this one than some of the others, since I've had the leaked version for quite some time (shh don't tell). It took me a while to figure this one out in my own brain, because it didn't quite seem to fit into one solid storyline or concept at first, but thinking about it after having heard Harry's House (and we'll get into the parallels between this album and that one later cause DAMN) and after seeing the Sushi video, I had a few ideas, though still not a solid storyline. I feel like this song is more of a letter to H, especially in the first verse and pre-chorus - talking about how Louis has watched him work really hard to be himself, to be able to express that while still in an industry that isn't open like it should be, and how he gives so much of himself, his kindness, to other people that don't necessarily care about him unless he's making them money, and that he could maybe slow it down a little. But I think it could be conceptually about H possibly being so taken with the idea of wanting to be good, to be enough, to make something of his life, and knowing that Jeff could give it to him. The pre-chorus leans into that idea heavily (if you believe that guy is Superman / they're selling tickets at the cinema) - Jeff being Superman, of course. Louis doesn't trust Jeff, but he trusts Harry to do what's right for himself. But if that life and those things are what helps H get through darker times, then he has to do it, but be careful and hold on tight as he does. The chorus can really relate to Louis - it really says to me that at one point Louis was lost, he didn't know where to go in his solo career, but he figured it out. They had such luck being in 1D, and Harry already has it, and Louis fully believes that he could find that luck again on his own.
Face The Music:
Gay gay gay gay GAY.
Those were my thoughts when I heard it the first time. That first verse is so potent - society tells you what's right and wrong, what's good and bad, what's love and what's hate, and all of that depends on the reality that you live or are taught, but in the end it's all subjective. But Louis knows what he's experienced, and he wants to stay there (I just wanna stay in this moment the rest of my life). He knows what society expects of someone in his position, and he doesn't want to face that reality, so he's choosing to stay with the person he loves, to dance with them, to keep buying them time even when they shouldn't. when it could ruin both of their careers. He doesn't care, because those people are wrong in their outdated expectations. He reminds that person that it's going to be okay, they just need to breathe, take their time, that those luxuries they have aren't as important as what they themselves have with each other, and Louis is okay with forgetting about them (close your eyes and count to ten / if your standing on the edge of falling / open up and looking down / everything that matters is forgotten). It's basically saying "fuck them, I choose you". Beautiful.
Chicago:
When we were told by a radio interviewer that we would know exactly who this song was about, I was so confused when I then read the lyrics because in my mind I'm going "none of his exes, real or fake, have both a brother and a baby so what the fuck". And then it hit me - Zouis. Of course. Because Zayn and Louis were best friends, and much more in tune with their emotions than most men. They would have talked about everything and anything - including what they would name their future kids. Zayn would have been like a brother to Louis, so in turn any of Zayn's friends would be like brothers to Zayn - I think he could be referencing the Naughty Boy incident here (And is your brother doing ok / is he still getting out of fights). The pre-chorus just punches you because Louis probably hated that Zayn was leaving the band but supported him because he knew that's what he needed to do, even if it fucked everything up for everyone else, and then their friendship just kind of blew up and they're both stubborn as fuck and refuse to talk about it. So Louis would be sitting here after all these years wondering if the bitter end to their friendship would turn sweet, if it had been long enough for Zayn to forgive Louis for the things he said and did. While the song has some lines that can allude to this being about a romantic relationship, I think that it's more geared toward a really close friendship that he lost. And I'm also aware that Zayn doesn't live in Chicago, but saying "and if you're lonely in Mechanicsburg" doesn't quite have the same ring to it. This song ended up being one of my absolute favorites.
All This Time:
I also get extreme GAY vibes from this one, and it touches on the theme of wasted time (It's not how you spend the time, it's if you waste it) which Harry has now engrained into my brain, so thanks for that, Harold.
I think it's something unique to the queer experience where you figure out that you're not like everyone else, that there's something that makes you different, and you hold that close to your chest for a long time (I'm tryna find the words to say for ages). You know who you are and sometimes it scares you, sometimes it excites you, and sometimes it can just be downright confusing and demoralizing. Even when you come to a time where you are comfortable with who you are and that maybe other people will be okay with that version of you, and you know where you want your life to go, you can get into a place of doubt (but the truth is I still doubt that what I do can get me home). Even when you find someone that understands your journey, that might have gone on a similar journey of their own, even when you have everything with this person, it's still scary. But in the end, it's been true and real the whole time and it's worth it. Everything is worth it for that person to be in your life, for you to get the chance to love them.
Out of My System:
Honestly, the allegory to queerness and that journey on this album is insane, and this song I think perfectly captures the concept of figuring out you're queer and not wanting it. It was something I encountered in books and movies, actually, the concept of "oh I'll just do it once, get it out of my system, and I'll be normal again", and that's what this song says to me. He talks about moving quickly towards disaster, like he knows deep down that this won't be a one time thing, that it won't fix the problem, but he's ignoring that. The chorus basically says "I've lived my life with this dirty little secret, but I need to get through the rest of my life without this stalking me so I'll do it once". The demons imagery in the second verse reminds me of the same type of imagery in Kill My Mind, which is just a nice callback. BUT these lines are interesting because they can be interpreted one of two ways - either that the demos are the voices of people telling him that his feelings are wrong and he's shoving them away so he can feel alive by being with the person he wants to be with just once, or the demons are the queerness itself, and shoving it away will somehow make him feel more alive. Either way, super powerful. Also, the punk rockness of this song makes me so happy, and it's also a banger live. The energy is unmatched.
Headline:
This one was pretty clear - it's about a relationship that went badly because the person only saw Louis as what he was in the papers, who the papers thought him to be, not as an actual person with feelings. They were quick to believe any story they saw, no matter what information they had to the contrary, and that's why they're no longer in Louis' life. I could see this as something more abstract, where it's not necessarily about Louis personally but as a famous person trying to be with someone who isn't famous/is easily swept up in the tabloid drama. Pretty straightforward, definitely a jam.
Saturdays:
This. Fucking. Song. Wow.
Like ... Louis always has such a way with words, but this one really blew me away.
Stay with me - this one is also about Zayn. Now I can get where people would see it as a romantic song, but I feel like sometimes losing a best friend - not to death or anything but to fued or disagreement - holds a different kind of pain, a more visceral kind, and that's how this song strikes me. Louis and Zayn did everything together those last few years of 1D. They went out, they smoked, they got drunk, they partied, they were ride-or-dies. And Louis himself has said that, in years past, he has not been in a mature enough position to contact Zayn or to talk to him about what happened between them, but lately he has been far more open to the idea. But that doesn't mean that he hasn't been thinking about him (I've been wondering about what you're up to / not for the first time / not for the last time) or remembering the good times they had (and I've been thinking 'bout the things we used to do / not for the first time / not for the last time). There has always been many sayings about drowning your sorrows in drinks, drinking to forget, going out on a Friday/Saturday night, and Louis really leans into that here with a simple yet devastating lyric (We always used to say / "Saturdays take the pain away") and I think Louis thought he would always have that with Zayn, that connection of two people who understood each other on such a deep level, and he never expected it to change. But it did. And now he no longer has that person in his life.
Then you get to the next verse where he talks about how he thinks he sees this person, or he sees two people who remind him of how he once was with his friend, and he freezes cause he has no idea what he would do if it was actually them, or if he had to face what he'd lost, and then he pushes it away (A shadow of you sticks me to the carpet / try to ignore it). But he has to keep reminding himself that some things change, and yeah it sucks, and yeah, his heart might be broken at the loss of his friendship, but he refuses to let it destroy his life (My heart might be broken / but I won't be broken down). And then how all the instrumentals and backing vocals just drop out for the final lines of the chorus, it's almost like as he reaches the end of the song, he actually believes what he's been telling himself this whole time, and it resembles starting to let go of the pain and resentment and moving forward. One of, if not THE, best songs on the album, don't come for me. (Also I truly can't BELIEVE he ended his set like this on Friday, I left depressed as fuck haha)
Silver Tongues:
Before I go into this one, I just have to say that the transition from Saturdays to Silver Tongues is absolute genius. That is all.
Now. When I heard this for the first time, it was like blue and green alarm lights were going off in my brain, not gonna lie. While I do think that this song has an overarching theme of found family and having the best time of your life with people who understand you and never wanting to go home after being with those people, I just ... see it as a song about being in love with your best friend. The pre-chorus and chorus really say it all - there is one person who understands Louis like no other, who makes him the happiest he's ever been, who he shares inside jokes with and has written songs with and only the two of them can understand what it's like. And we both know that Harry would be the one to call it a night on a night out and Louis would be the one who would want just one more drink, so there's that for you. And then you go into the second verse which is so fucking domestic and adorable, because even when Louis is like you're such a hypocrite, you say I can't like weed cause it's bad but you can drink vodka and it's fine, he's still like I love you, I get you. (You said grass was a dirty drug / you like to preach with my vodka in your mug / I love all the things you know). Then we hit PEAK VOCALS (so far) with that next part, where he admits that they can both be stubborn, they can both say stupid shit, but in the end, they love each other, they have a plan, everything is better when they're together and they'll keep making it work because neither of them want anyone else (you and me until the end / waking up to start again / there's no where else that I would rather be).
I could also see the argument of this being about Louis' time in 1D and this song being nostalgic, looking back at the good times, knowing that no one will ever understand him like his boys do, but no matter what you believe, this song is just happy, bouncy, amazing all around. (And would be a great show ender in the encore cause we are all so much happier at concerts and we never wanna go home - it’s amazing to scream that with Louis).
She Is Beauty, We Are World Class:
I had to listen to this one several times before it grew on me - the lines were short and coming right after Silver Tongues, I don't think my brain was ready for it (which is exactly how I felt when I heard Sushi for the first time). But I think this one is about the music industry. Someone did an in depth analysis of this concept already, so I won't repeat what they said, but each line refers to a different aspect of the music industry - knowing what to say and when (Conversation is currency), dealing with paps (Finding faces in the trees), not knowing whether you're your own person or a brand or both (Are we one or are we two? / Are we me or are we you?), and constantly being in the spotlight with every single step you make (surrounded by light). It's a really innovative way to talk about the reality of the industry without calling anyone or anything out directly.
Common People:
This song brought up so many pictures in my mind - Louis as a kid growing up surrounded by such a good parental figure in Jay and being part of a big family (I came from a good home / a house full of terrace dreams) and being okay with living that life because that's all he knew (that was enough for me), but knowing others who didn't grow up that way wouldn't understand (you know, you had to see it to believe). He talks about Doncaster with such reverence, such nostalgia, and you can tell that his heart will always consider that home. He was one of the common people, and at his core, he will always see himself that way, even when his fame becomes apparent to him through others (common people, nothing's changes / you'll hear strangers singing your name). The first line of the second verse (I took her to the local) made me immediately think of him taking Bebe there to film the video for Back To You, and how she asked for sushi and he was like HA no, we don't have sushi here. Just introducing someone who didn't live that life to the intricacies and excitement of something simple in a place that you love can be a really grounding experience.
Angels Fly:
This one was a really hard one for me, because I had an immediate thought and then I was like ... IDK if I wanna talk about that one, it seems tooooooo personal (if you had the same thought as me you'll know exactly what I mean). I think it can be a comforting song - there are definitely good lyrics for that in there (You'll be okay, we can talk tomorrow .../...I wanna hear all that, but right now / you know it's not where we're going). But it also almost feels like a song you would write in retrospect after losing someone. There's a theme running through here of saying "it's alright, I know you're hurting or you have something to say, but there's always tomorrow, we can wait, take your time" when we all know that there isn't always tomorrow. Shit happens. We lose people. And when I think of that, the last bit of the chorus makes a kind of haunting sense (If every star is an eye in the sky / you'll see angels fly) - it makes me think of telling a dying child that they're going to heaven, trying to make things seem beautiful when they're terrifying and horrible. Either way, this song rips me apart in both the best way of someone actually caring to come and take care of me when I feel like shit, and in the worst way of losing someone and not having the time you thought you had with them.
Holding on to Heartache:
This song is 100% about One Direction and how Louis felt lost and resentful after the band went on hiatus. I truly can't hear it any other way, and unless I'm crazy, he pulled off some pretty clever lyrics that lead me to this very point. The whole first verse is very much a person looking back, seeing something for what it was instead of what it felt like in the moment (we knew that all would change / creates the strangest feeling / just slowly waiting for the end). He still thinks about it often, how they lived every moment thinking it couldn't get bigger, better, but they also knew there was a time limit on it, something they ignored steadfastly until they couldn't anymore (The moments as they came .../... because we faded into darkness .../... I can still hear a clock that's ticking). Louis has said himself that he was finally finding his place, his confidence in the band, and then they were on a break and it wasn't something he wanted or was ready for, and I think, in holding onto that pain, he stopped himself from embarking on his solo journey for a long time. He didn't understand, he wanted answers (the questions that I'd ask you / "where did it all go wrong?"). Then the bridge - the glorious bridge that I can't wait to scream on tour with him - hits, and you can feel what he felt - the sensation of suddenly being on his own (you know the party's over / when you're standing in an empty space alone), the realization that he would need time to recover (And time can always heal you / if you let it make its way into your bones), the raw honesty towards himself (Nothing's ever easy / to be honest, I'm not easy on myself) and towards the others' careers (The second that I see you / the space between us just comes flooding back). As he fades out the last chorus, in comes again the realization that he might need to let go of any lingering resentment, because in the end, this was what was always going to happen with the circumstances they were surrounded with.
And it was at this moment on my tenth listen that I realized that some of the lyrics were referencing (in my opinion) One Direction songs - "It's gonna drag me down"; "the moments as they came"; "the nights, they change in seasons"; "the space between us just comes flooding back". These could be coincidences, of course, but I think Louis is clever with his writing, and that this might have been intentional.
That's The Way Love Goes:
This song surprised me with how much I liked it, and I think it's all down to the fact that this is not at all your typical love song, but rather the opposite. He's consoling a friend who broke up with their girlfriend, trying to pull them out of the funk they've been in since the relationship ended with a little tough love (Here are some words I know that you don't wanna hear / "I think she's moved on, mate, it's almost been a year") and just explaining to them that they aren't the only one to experience this, that it's a universal experience (that's the way, that's the way love goes). Then there's a beautiful callback to Miss You (Remember when you told me I should give it time?) and kind of a nudge to get a move on, put your shoes back on and rejoin society, it will all be okay in the end. And the brutal honesty in explaining that the level of pain felt directly correlates to how much you loved that person (When it cuts you, when you bleed / that's when you're feeling it the most). It's a beautiful song of reassurance in the classic Louis way, and a great way to end an album - on a sense of hope for a better, brighter future.
There was this one other point that I wanted to make about Louis as a lyricist - Louis does this thing where he changes the lyrics from the first to second verse/pre-chorus (See Bigger Than Me - All of these/those voices; All This Time - I/you still doubt that what i/you do can get me home; Out of My System - Gotta get it off of my chest/out of my head; Saturdays - the ones that you wore when you walked out the door/but you're not here anymore) that I love because it's such a small thing but words have such impact, such power, and a small switch can hint at a large change in perspective.
This album is no skips, absolute perfection, and perfectly encapsulates who Louis is as a person, the things that he's experienced, and his ability to craft relatable stories through his words, be they personal or abstract. His voice was clearly made for this genre, and I can't wait to hear even more when he tours next year and when LT3 starts cooking.

it's probably not a generalization to say that we all want to be forgiven. there's something that all of us has done in our lives that we ache for forgiveness for, that we regret, that wakes us in the middle of the night as we think, god if i could just do that again, i'd make better choices this time -
i know this place. i think most of us know this place. so i *understand* why stede ran, when he got all his traumas hit, and he felt like a fraud and a failure, and monster, i get it.
but my god does it also make me want to wring his little neck. it's the way that self-hatred makes you *selfish*. the way it makes you render others petty and small in your mind. the way it lets you discount them, dismiss them, disown them.
because when stede makes the choice (and let's be clear, he very much did make a choice, he *decided* to go back to Barbados and his wife and his family) to leave ed waiting for him on that dock, he does it entirely consumed with himself, and his fears, his doubts, his trauma, his utter self-hatred, and it makes him selfish, because that's what self-hatred does. it makes people selfish and in a way, even arrogant. stede doesn't think about what ed told him, what ed shared, how ed feels - that ed is glad to be figuring himself out, that ed is happy with stede, that ed doesn't want to be blackbeard.
what stede thinks is "i ruined him". he dismisses ed's ability to know himself, to think for himself, to make decisions for himself. because stede is so consumed with his own self-hatred, his own conviction that he ruins everything that he completely runs roughshod over other people's feelings in the process of living in that hatred. he decides that he knows better than ed how ed feels. he decides that he knows better than ed what ed needs.
after all, stede hates himself, stede is useless, stede is pathetic, so ed can't really MEAN any of that, right? ed must be humoring him, or he must be tricked, or something. he can't possibly impact the people around him. they won't hurt in his absence. ed won't be hurt for being abandoned, the crew won't be sad for being ditched with izzy. he's just stede.
and in the meanwhile, there's that family, the family stede abandoned but thought would somehow exist in a stasis, in a pause, available for him to come back to - it's clear he thought mary, alma, and louis would still be as he remembered them, that it was like, in his mind, he could put a pause on the relationship and come back if needed to, without change, without growth, without *anger*...
and now that he's learned his lesson about that, i'm really, really hoping that the stede we see in season 2, the stede who's grown and seen how he impacts the people around him, is a stede prepared for how absolutely fucking pissed the love of his life is about to be.

ep of 4 of interview with a vampire was beautifully heartbreaking.
SPOILERS AHEAD —>
let’s start with one thing…. we have an unreliable narrator.
louis’s recollection is something that needs is one separate analysis so bare with me.
let’s talk about the gist of this episode:
lestat’s promiscuity is a retaliation to louis’ moral compass. louis goes — “enjoy yourself. it’s the purpose of living,” after lestat begins to fool around the with singer. we should also consider how reminiscent louis’ words are to lestat who implied the same thing at the start of the episode “i made you so you could enjoy yourself.” but here, louis isnt enjoying himself (but we also know lestat isn’t either). they can never meet in the middle these two. of course, lestat was not going to be a hundred percent forthcoming to louis’ abstinence of human blood but louis at least was under the assumption that lestat would somewhat accept his wishes because lestat loves him. but we know lestat and we know that was never going to work.
we watch and we know that these despite their love, louis and lestat are polar opposites and each choice they make upsets the other. in response to these choices, they lash out and loathe each other but they also pine for each other, hence why they keep coming back for more.
moving in, it’s ridiculous the way louis and lestat make each other jealous.
they know they belong to one another but once again, we see every time they are about act on something terrible that they know will hurt the other, they always look at each other. i think what really makes their relationship is that sense of rebellion between them which goes back to these conflicting differences they have. for example, lestat, in fewer words, implied he liked pussy and in turn, told louis as i long as he got some, louis could do what he pleases with other males. louis takes him on this offer and yet, they both become angry with each other. they have this obsession to piss each other off as if when they reunite again, they’re relationship will become stronger.
ALSO, LESTAT IS SO JEALOUS, IT’S HILARIOUS.
he saw that louis had a little fun with an old flame, an old lover, and immediately his response is that he’s done with the singer and that what transpired between her and him meant nothing, his word, “tedious”. it’s as if he doesn’t want anybody to have louis which kinda goes back to that sense of ownership he has over him. lestat made louis and he believes louis belongs to him, his promiscuity belongs to him, his heart, his lust, everything. to watch louis give away that worship that he promised lestat in that church, that companionship, that devotion, is crushing. it hurts him even though he allowed it to be. he pines for louis and his differences, though annoying, he’d rather it and him than nothing at all; that’s why he follows him into the woods and listens to louis fornicate with jonah.
lestat also does not like being on the back burner when it comes to his lover. lestat loves to be the center of attention whether it be good or bad. we see this when asks louis to have a night out to which louis responds that he’s going to see his family. the camera pans for split second on lestat’s face and the subtle shift of his jaw right before he grits softly, “fine.” we know lestat is envious, ANGRY that he’s not being worshipped, not in the way he was in episode 1. and lestat pretends everything is fine only to retaliate and bring a bunch of army boys so louis can fuck since he has a type. we see lestat’s jealousy and his pettiness. most importantly, we see his regretfulness. and instead of apologizing, he antagonizes louis. he projects his problems negatively though he claims louis and him have such “good communication”.
by the end of the ep, their relationship is failing miserably.
it’s not sustainable.
……enter claudia.

What theories do you got for the end of season 2?
hii 🫶🏾
sorry i’m so late with this. i haven't been online too much lately. So theories??? man i’m not really engaging with much speculation as far as S2 goes. mainly bc i don’t think i have the ideas that will happen how my mind is formulating them. also bc they would be based off of nothing but what ive seen said about the books and vibes i got from S1 lmao. i’m so sorry if i disappoint you my ideas. here’s what i hope…
S2 will focus on loumand in the past and in the present maybe Armand might get to contribute to the telling of things. I’m very fucking excited for loumand. Idk how to not lose my mind about this! it’ll be interesting to me if there’s points of contention between how louis remembers something and how he does. what happened to Claudia and how coming out in this contention would be really fun to watch. “the love of my life” seems to be something that’s gonna come undone next season. seeing how they came together. seeing what makes their relationship tick. seeing the cracks in what their dynamic is now. seeing how Daniel’s tendency to be provocative and rude when he feels endangered will impact things or how it will shift now that he knows Rashid is actually Armand—now that he realizes he’s been talking to an even stronger vampire crazy out the side of his neck. and he’s greatly out numbered rn. i want to see if Daniel tries to run and leave and how they might convince him to stay or if he decides to stay what lends to that decision. the book? answers that he wants? im sure it’ll be many things.
I wonder if they will put off the hows of how Lestat finds his way to Paris since no one but him would really have all that information. I think with seeing Sam and Assad hanging out off set there will be some Armand/Lestat scene to look forward too. they’re gonna fight and its gonna be nasty and full of tension and armand longing for lestat while lestat longs for louis and he’s [lestat] gonna get that look in his eye were he agrees to something he know damn well he shouldnt in the name of saving louis. its gonna be delicious. Im excited to see that.
I hope we only really get hints of the devil’s minion stuff and i hope a good chunk of most of it happens in the modern day so they can have lots to fill coming seasons with. i want S2 to be more about loumand anyways. THO i do want them to put the fear of the devil into that man. I want him to really come to terms with what the fuck situation he’s in and I want Louis and Armand to make him feel it for real. I want the cracks in his dynamic with them and his supposed superior morality to start to show.
I think the situation with Louis might make Claudia desperate for another connection by the time it’s clear Louis is stuck in the past and longing for Lestat. Her hatred for him i think is soemthing we’ll see develop in it’s fullness. i hope she’s just as petty as she’s been. there wa a post about her playing piano and playing bach even tho she knows it torment him. i love that post. i wish i had it in me to find it. that post is genius. but yeah so i think she’d even accept the mother like way Madeleine treats her even tho she’s been looking to be treated like an equal bc anything is better than where they find themselves in terms of being stuck together after all thats happened and the spector of him choking her and lestat being spared because of him always looming over them. i think that adds to the sheer sadness of her situation. the living truth that yeah lestat is alive and louis would have him even now. and then the realization that he would also have armand who wants her dead clearly. i think someone who seems to “see her” would be preferable. but bc i know this is the painshow i cant say that they’re dynamic won’t be hard to watch. i think it will. I think madeleine will be working out her own trauma in losing her family on Claudia and it’ll be really clear that Claudia will always be choosing the lesser of an evil. i think they’ll play with our minds and hearts about what they could be, but ultimately they’re doomed and she’ll still wind up dead. and apparently so does madeleine even after being turned soo.. yeah i’m about to be heart shattered behind claudia.
sorry if these are disappointing. but yeah that’s as far as i’ve got. tho i’m sure i’ll think of something else and make a post about it. but i havent really wanted to speculate too much on S2 beyond being horny about loumand. maybe we’ll see their dungeon!

alright, i need to ramble about something incredibly niche and specific to me that it probably won‘t bother anybody else. but.
being online too much, specifically being in this fandom too much, seriously fucks with my head sometimes. i already have a really hard time trusting my own head because during bad weeks, eighty percent of it is filled with intrusive thoughts that aren‘t true anyways. i‘m slowly learning how to not believe them, how to recognise them and anchor my trust in other things. but i‘ve only started on this process and i have twenty-two years of habits to unlearn, so it‘s gonna be another while before i‘m at a good place i think.
in the mean time, i‘m still going to struggle with my own perception of the world. most times, i don‘t know how to correctly judge a situation or completely misjudge something. my confidence in myself is completely shattered because i can‘t trust my own thoughts, and so i‘m very careful about making quick and harsh judgements about others, especially in online spaces where all i know about the person are a profile picture and a display name. i screenshot a lot of things and send them to my friends to ask for their opinion, to ask for reassurance and test out where my current thoughts lay and how much i can rely on them. and i don‘t ever call someone a term unless i thought it over at least 150 times.
others, as i‘m starting to see, don‘t think things over 150 times. they don‘t seem to think it over once, and sometimes they straight up lie about it or purposefully use a term that they know is not correct. to put this abstract statement into context: i just saw someone on twitter compile a list of „haters“ (their words) because these „haters“ expressed that louis is not on top of the priority list for going on tour and if they had to choose, they would choose someone else over louis. apparently, that is enough to warrant the term „haters“ and statement sentences like „they are louis haters as they choose others over louis.“
now, i‘ve seen plenty of others calling this person out and telling them that they‘re being ridiculous. which might also be the only logical thing to do, but it definitely wasn‘t my first reaction. my first reaction was to think „shit am *i* secretly a louis hater? have i just made it all up in my mind? am i a horrible person?“ (you get the picture) which might also seem ridiculous to you, fair enough, but if i hadn‘t seen those other people calling them out and explaining how that is not a fair conclusion to make, i think i would have spiraled a lot further and maybe even ended up convinced that i actually was a horrible person and i‘m just manipulating everyone into thinking i love louis. now think about what would happen if this was about something more serious than petty fandom fights.
i‘m fully aware that this is a me problem, and as stated above, i am working on it. i also have a wonderful support system with my friends and i know when to take some time away from being online. but still, i‘m sitting here, wondering, if it really is necessary for others to be so quick in calling names? because you can‘t tell me making a list of people and purposefully calling them „haters“ (when they probably knew fully well how it‘s not the truth) wasn‘t intentional? why do people feel compelled to lie so much? do they seriously not know that lying about these things can seriously fuck someone up and just don‘t care, or have they never taken a second to think about the power and range of their own words? because some people who were on that list were able to laugh it off, but if i had been on that list? yeah, no, i don‘t even want to think about the spiral that would have started. or what would have been at the end of that spiral for me.
i can‘t even remember anymore where i was going with this, but just. ocd and intrusive thoughts suck so much, and they affect fractions of your life and your self that you can‘t even begin to imagine until you actively live it yourself. i just wish that the one thing that has brought me so much joy over the years, a community that praises itself on being a loving and accepting community, would actually be nicer to each other and treat each other with respect. not everyone is equipped to brush things off, so many people are a lot more vulnerable to manipulation and gaslighting, and i wished that at least fandom could be a bit more gentle with it. i guess not though.

I feel like I am at war, yet again, to establish my closeted self in this community, as I read these horrible headlines. It feels so invalidating, insulting..
I cannot come out. It’s a criminal offense and just two weeks ago several people got arrested here (I cannot name my home place for safety reasons) for it. And I feel so angry on Harry’s behalf, so angry that it makes me burst into instant tears…it’s like, my maximum anger. Screaming yelling all that is below my angry tears this is so fucking infuriating I wanna physically hurt all the nasty people I am so serious…it sent me to a depression episode yesterday:(
I just hope Harry is in a better mental headspace. The best. That he is loved (by The Louis Tomlinson), rich, happy and healthy and thriving. THAT is the best revenge, truly. Because no other mode of retaliation will satisfy my closeted petty angry self but to stay above all the scum, living the life they all wish they had. You go my baby (and my other baby too)!!!!
I am sorry I ranted, I wrote this crying, so thank you for listening, I feel better a little💖
Oh darling I hear you, I truly do. And it’s infuriating. I'm not gonna lie I was expecting a little of backlash and disgusting headlines, because this is a queer movie after all so there was no way this was going to pass without people vomiting homophobic "opinions". And I think the fact that Harry - a closeted person - in a movie that discusses exactly that is such a HUGE statement. The entire situation is just so emblematic, the irony of life imitating art. The fact he's doing that is so very brave of him, it shows how much closeted people are valid.
It doesn't make it less infuriating though and I'm so so so sorry you're going through this and feeling like that. You're valid and loved and I'm very proud of you. Please take care, sending you big hugs ❤️

"but then I made a joke in a chat about The Dancer being one of their threesome buddies and it just felt right" it does feel extremely right. That was one of their "we saw you from across the bar and really dig your vibe" moments right there, with some actual interest behind it for a change. IA, Daniel needed a buddy. Even in an all-consuming, obsessive, deranged asf relationsthip like theirs, people need a buddy to confide in. During their NYC era in partic, it feels right. The Miami/Night Island era was a whole different beast tho lmao rip
"Fucked me up then and fucks me up now" I go back to that one from time to time just to fuck myself up tbh!!
Also I couldn't help but notice THIS from another reply of yours: "I've been daydreaming/outlining an AU OT3 prompt response with rockstar!Lestat" YES??? as in rockstar!Lestat has his two boyfriends teaching him a lesson??? I mean on one hand I feel like Armand is somewhat canonically Lestat's (wannabe) groupie yk so this would be a dream come true for his thirsty ass BUT him and Louis going apeshit over Lestat fucking an actual groupie would also work splendidly. I'll definitely be thinking about this one quite a bit 💭💭💭🤔 xoxo DA
That was one of their "we saw you from across the bar and really dig your vibe" moments right there, with some actual interest behind it for a change.
Exactly! I always headcanon that they met The Dance at a performance and apparently Armand (or Daniel???) was entering his Marius-era of patronage. Which honestly just raises more questions such as: this is pre-Night Island era — and I know cost of living isn't what it used to be (😭) but still — were Armand, Daniel, and The Dancer whose bills they paid all through school just living off Daniel's IWTV checks and Armand's petty theft? I gotta know and I never will and it kills me.
During their NYC era in partic, it feels right. The Miami/Night Island era was a whole different beast tho lmao rip
I agree, the tone definitely changed in NI! I don't think Daniel mentions anyone outside of their staff on Night Island, certainly not like he does in the early years with the people at the parties they attended and The Dancer.
I mean on one hand I feel like Armand is somewhat canonically Lestat's (wannabe) groupie yk so this would be a dream come true for his thirsty ass BUT him and Louis going apeshit over Lestat fucking an actual groupie would also work splendidly.
Armand is 100% Lestat's canonical groupie, Lestat activates his yandere brain like nothing else, RIP (to both of them and everyone who suffered along the way). But yeah, I hope you'll like it, it's the sequel to Exposed which was my lil' gift fic for you... six months ago (jfc I can't believe we've been at this over six months already 🥹). I know more or less what I'm going to have them to do to Lestat but as always, if there's anything in particular you want to see, just let me know and I'll make it work! 💖

hi! so, i just wanted to say i really appreciated your meta about stede and mary's relationship. i feel like it approached them with a sort of nuance i don't usually see applied to mary's character; i think sometimes people act as though ep10 absolves her of any wrongdoing whatsoever in regards to their relationship, but imo i feel like that is patently not true. i've always regarded mary and stede as being parallels, and more alike than not. she can be petty and cruel in the same ways he is; stede fucked up royally by leaving the way he did, but i don't think her rushing to remove all traces of him from their lives was necessarily the right decision either, not in regards to the children or their development. painting him out of the portrait was something she did for herself and herself alone, not for alma or louis. especially if she told them he was dead. it serves no purpose to anyone but her, and it seems cruel to do to a little girl who thinks her father has died (and even if she knows he disappeared! i could understand taking the painting down, but there's no consideration for whether the kids might want it later in life).
another thing is that they also both enjoy the trappings of wealth, and while i've often seen criticisms leveled at stede bc of his class privilege, i rarely see the same directed at mary. imo, they are both similar in that their class largely afforded them entry and some sense of notoriety into a world that poorer people need to fight their way into (painting/piracy). granted mary isn't the same kind of clown about it all that stede is, and yes, the painting and piracy within the show are more meant to be simply allegorical than anything else, but why is stede deserving of class criticism and not mary? just because stede's boastful? they're both two extremely privileged people with power dynamics between them that are constantly shifting (mary being a woman; stede being a queer man). i think some of the disconnect here comes from the fact that their story in particular is almost entirely modern and anachronistic; the only real connection to the 1700s they have is the arranged marriage, so i understand where people are coming from, in a sense, when they place all blame almost entirely on stede (barbados as it is portrayed in this show might as well be a random east coast suburb in the 1980s), but some of the stuff she does is still weird and bonkers from a modern context (like trying to erase him from their lives entirely, and slot doug into his place), just like stede is weird and bonkers too.
and while i would say he's definitely the guiltier party in ep10, they're both openly hostile to each other. stede tries to ask her about doug and mary immediately gets defensive. even before stede left, neither of them gave a shit about each other, and it really was an equal opportunity sort of thing. he didn't listen when she spoke about painting, she didn't care about anything he had to say about the sea. 'we just can't seem to stop hurting each other' is a statement of fact, and i feel as though people often forget the 'we' in this context. i honestly hadn't even thought of how that conversation, where she's sort of attempting to extend an olive branch to him, would appear to stede. another way they seem similar to me is that at this point in their lives they're both probably repressed in the same way, with similar childhood trauma (by way of their parents, the homophobic bullying probably did not happen to mary), and this stunts their ability to have meaningful conversations with each other. mary is not all knowing as i feel like people sometimes treat her, and coming to the conclusion that she was in love with doug was likely the same sort of uphill battle stede experienced while realizing he was attracted to men.
anyway, um, i hope it was okay i just blurted this out all over your ask box lol. i just don't often see people in this fandom who have a similar read on mary as me (i feel like attitudes regarding her tend to be either visceral dislike or blatant apologia, neither of which i'm interested in honestly) so i wanted to let you know i agree and appreciate you sharing your thoughts!
Absolutely it's okay that you blurted that all out all over my ask box! Both because I spent a lot of time on that meta and was starting to get down on myself for the lackluster response, and because I too get frustrated by the pronounced tendency in fandom to treat Mary like she was a saint in their relationship.
That's a great point about how removing Stede from that painting was unfair to Alma and Louis! I had never considered it from that angle before, but you're right, that was selfish of her.
With regards to class, I assume people mostly aren't bringing it up because it's not really a factor in her story line, aside from in resulting in an arranged marriage. The only person she interacts with that's (possibly) of a lower class than her is Doug, and that doesn't seem to have particularly impacted their relationship. I think you're right in that any class based criticism that can be leveled at Stede are probably also true of Mary to some greater or lesser degree, but I can see why people wouldn't be bringing her up in that context all that often.
For me I consider both Mary & Stede to be equally at fault with regards to their marriage in the backstory. There is a part of me that wants to put slightly more of the blame on Mary, but I'm also aware that I have some personal experiences that make me biased, so I leave it at equal fault. Then Stede abandons his family, making him the one who is significantly more in the wrong. While I wouldn't generally categorize his behavior in episode 10 hostile, and from what I recall he only really pushes back against Mary with regards to things that reasonably fall under his purview, he isn't really as apologetic as he should be considering. And Mary is hostile, but she also has a right to feel that way. Up until the point she tries to murder Stede, at which point she becomes the guiltier party, but they end up resolving things soon afterward and it becomes moot anyway.
