Glow up
2023 vision board. Visualize your dream 2023 and write down your goals!
Daily Hot girl walks. No excuses, babes; let's get moving!
Reflecting on 2022. Look back at what you've accomplished and what you could have done differently.
Make a Bucketlist. Write down places you want to visit and things you want to do.
Extended self-care. Take some time to yourself to recover from the stressful holidays and get back on track. <3
Buy a good SPF. Do some research and find something that works for you!
Start Investing in yourself. Money, time, and energy. Put yourself first!
Annual check-ups. Make a dentist appointment, go to the optometrist etc...
Buy a Silk pillowcase. Protect your skin and hair!
Set clear boundaries. And make sure that people respect them!
Less screen time. Self-explanatory.
Manicure, lash lift, haircut. High maintenance to be low maintenance! ;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wellness
Daily vitamins. Visit a doctor to discuss which ones you should be taking for the best results.
Morning stretches. Wake up your body and drink some water!
Skin/hair care. It's time to find products that actually work for you.
Reading more literature. Set yourself a daily reading goal.
Planned grocery lists. Make a grocery list that aligns with your dietary needs and goals to make shopping less stressful. <3
Less coffee. Especially if you struggle with anxiety!!
More greens and protein. Let's give our body what it needs.
Journaling. Truly helps with overthinking!!
8 hours of sleep. Beauty sleep. <3
Cooking for yourself. Such a cute form of daily self-care.
Yoga. Or just any low-impact exercises in general.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deep cleaning
Organizing your closet. Only keep things that make you feel beautiful.
Budgeting. Check your bank account and plan ahead.
Clean your hairbrushes. Trust me...
Donating clothes. Donate the items that you don't wear anymore.
Clean your make-up brushes. The first step to clear skin!!
Fresh sheets. Wash your pillows too.
Charge your electronics. IPad, Mac, Camera etc...
Get rid of expired make-up and skincare. Step 2 to clear skin, lol.
Declutter stationary. No need to keep dried-out pens.
Delete old emails. I currently have 1840...
Delete unnecessary apps. Anything you don't need.
Clean your camera roll. Making some space for new memories! :)
Cut out toxic people. <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mindset
Pretty, smart, kind, and prioritising myself.
Positive affirmations!!
Your daily habits play a huge role in your mood/life. Be mindful, and take care of yourself.
It's okay to outgrow people!!
Decide what kind of life you actually want and start saying no to everything that won't get you there.
"I'm attracting opportunities that align with my dream life."
A girl who will do big things can't let small things bother her.
Honestly, reinvent yourself over and over again until you are satisfied with who you are.
Do you want to be comfortable, or do you want to grow?
"Am I doing this for me, or am I performing for others?"
very high standards. VERY HIGH STANDARDS.
Be obsessed with yourself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2022 has been such a life-changing year for me, not only personally but also regarding my social media! As I already said on Twitter, I'm incredibly grateful for this little community that has formed this year, and I'm excited for all the things that lay ahead of us! I wish everyone a successful 2023 with many beautiful moments and lots of growth!!

The funniest thing for me personally, coming out of all the James Somerton shit, is the camera choises that he made. I've seen a couple of his more recent videos, there is nothing there that requires spending more than a couple of grand max on a complete camera rig. If what you do is sit in front of a stationary background in controlled lighting and talk at the camera, you can make that work with fucking 8-bit footage (I wouldn't for the sake of flexibility, but it's very doable), keeping in mind it's gonna compress down to a garbage-fire bitrate for streaming. And you go from a Ursa Mini Pro G2 to an FX6? When you're supposedly running out of money? Everything about an FX6 is more money. You need FF glass, you probably want AF lenses, probably mirrorless ones too (no sigma 18-35 1.8 for full frame), and for what, slightly better low light performance (not an issue on a professional set, most cine cams shoot at low EI values) and AF, which again isn't an issue shooting with cine lenses because they don't have fucking AF motors. "I wAnT tO sHoOt AnAmOrPhIc" buy a flare filter and crop your footage and spend the money you saved hiring people to do what actually needs to be done to make a good film, which doesn't involve blowing your budget on camera gear.

Since I have been praising Bocchi so much I will also lay down some criticism - its ‘concert’ scenes are not hitting the high water marks its slice-of-life scenes are. Bocchi has had two so far, the audition in episode 5 and the performance in the lates episode 8. Episode 5 is more of a straight shot, while Episode 8 has them sort-of botch their first song due to ~events, the same song you heard in Episode 5, before Bocchi moves to elevate them for the next two. These scenes are done ‘straight’, full camera lock on the band actually performing.
I won’t say Bocchi is “low budget” since I don’t know that; what I will say is that it very frequently keeps its motion, character linework, frame count, etc pretty simple. A lot of the crazy animation breaks are extremely energy intensive as like a creative lead; but taking say live action film reels of water flowing out of dams is not taxing the animation department. As such the limited animation is complemented by the style breaks, being the source of the creativity while giving the team time do the limited things it does well.
As the concerts scenes are played straight, they don’t have this technique to bail them out, and the seams start to show here. The band performance just have this, hm, stiffness to their motion, which I am finding very hard to showcase on tumblr with its limited gif size - you can see the whole sequence here on Sakugabooru. Essentially in these scenes there are times when the camera is stationary on a character, and times where their movement means they are “3D” and the angle of the body being displayed shifts; and in those latter parts their work on the movement isn’t quite up to task. Still good! But not amazing.
In the second concert of episode 8, as I mentioned they screw up the song we heard done well in episode 5, and this is communicated to the audience via the fact that the song itself is different and worse...but only like a little worse. I have heard some people say its really notable, but others say they literally could not hear the difference, and I was more in the latter camp. Meanwhile the animation for the sequence is pretty similar to the first one, they look less enthused and it has less dramatic cuts (they aren’t visual language amateurs after all), but its the same concept.
What I’m building to is that the scenes want to communicate A: badass music vibes, and B: a ‘bad performance’ and a ‘good performance’, but aren’t stellar at that. They don’t quite have the chops to make the super-amazing trad concert visuals, and the audio isn’t up to the job of communicating the bad performance. I get why the audio can’t do that job, its a more subtle art, but the visuals aren’t allowed to convey this gap either as they aren’t willing to get abstract here. Most of the work of the episode 8 scene is actually done via voiceover by Bocchi, which is tbh always the lazy man’s default answer to a conveyance problem.
Bocchi *should* be applying creative, abstract visual language to elevate these scenes, but its not due in my opinion to what a call the “God Knows” trope. In 2006 The Melanocholy of Haruhi Suzumiya aired its 12th episode, Live Alive, which featured a full on concert performance by Haruhi singing the song God Knows:
Tumblr media
And at the time it was like the best animated thing TV Anime had ever seen. Haruhi was that in a lot of ways, it was the show where KyoAni first ‘perfected’ their stylistic approach that would become the anime quality standard for the next decade, and God Knows was one of the peaks. After Haruhi, a lot of shows would copy this sequence, some more literally than others, but the way of doing a concert performance - this sort of ‘concert realism’ mimicking the camera angles of a live filmed concert - became the standard way to communicate rock.
But its not 2006 anymore- the amount of detail Haruhi has is great, amazing, but not special, and we have seen dozens of imitators. Dutch angle drum sequences don’t wow, and they especially don’t if you are Bocchi and your depiction of realistic motion is not your strong suit. This is however what the genre *expects*, the default, you know it will work even if it wont amaze. I think Bocchi fell into a trope trap - breaking the mold on the “God Knows” staple is just a bridge too far for them, even if I think they should have.

I did not have a Christmas cry. So I guess my low feelings today were just that. A coming down off a really nice day. But also I think I was just a little to social and my batteries were drained. It wasn't a horrible day. But it was hard to get through.
I didn't sleep amazing last night. James kept stretching in their sleep and hitting me in the head. And I got real upset getting woken up. They weren't hurting me but they were startling me. Not fun.
James woke me up for real around 930. And I felt alright. I told them not to make the bed and went to get dressed.
They got ready to go to the grocery store. I had sent them a little list last night of things I would like. And so they left and I had some time alone.
I shook out the bed and remade it. Put a few stuffed animals in the studio and tried to make the bed a little more cozy but not to cluttered.
The studio was a point of upset for me today. We had out basically everything in there that we didn't want to have out when we had family here. So it was very packed and horrible.
I would work on my knitting. And do a partial change of the frog tank's water. And as I was doing that James came home.
They were a little rattled by how expensive the store was. And so once everything was put away and we were eating lunch we sat down and talked through our budget. We are falling a little below our monthly expenses. A lot of that is because my monthly pay is always different. Like over the whole year it is fine but my monthly average makes us fall below our needs. Not great.
So James has decided they want to take on another job. I feel uncomfortable with this only because I don't want to ask so much from them. But they want to get back in a restaurant for a few hours a week. And maybe that will be good for them. Some more structure? I don't know. I just want them to feel happy but I also want us to be more secure? It is really hard. We will be okay but we will have to figure it out together.
I got a little bit of energy in the afternoon and while James set up their bike with the stationary attachment to ride on the living room, I started working on the studio.
James was also doing laundry. And I moved stuff around and moved my stuffed animal net up and put some shelves around them. The shelves are kind of shitty but it's something for now. I am thrilled with how much space I made though and while I'm still stressed about the closet at least I made a lot of progress and don't feel so sick over it anymore.
Me and James would spend a lot of time hanging out quietly today. I made some outfits for the next week or so. James played video games. I painted my nails and ate some astronaut ice cream. I also did my flat lay photo. Me and James talked about our favorite gifts. It was a good day even if I felt a little sad at times.
We cuddled for a bit. And I started my yearly post Christmas tradition of starting my birthday wishlist. James also said we can go to tj Maxx and Marshalls tomorrow to start looking at valentines say stuff!! I have been looking at people's finds on Instagram and I want to see something for myself. Just for fun. Valentines day is my birthday holiday so it always feels very special to me.
I practiced with my new darning tool. And James made us pizza and broccoli for dinner. Eventually I would take a bubble bath. And we have been in bed for a while now. I'm watching videos and James is reading. And I don't feel as horrible as I did.
Tomorrow we will go for a drive. And get lunch. And I hope its just a nice day. It's warming up and the sun is staying up longer and that's just really nice.
I hope you all take care of each other. Sleep well and be safe! Goodnight!!

Watching Through My Collection: Day 16/36
I Eat Your Skin (1964) aka Zombies aka Zombie Bloodbath aka Voodoo Blood Bath
Day 15 / Day 17
Now, not only does this movie have so many names, but the 1964 date on my copy is actually when it was filmed. It didn't get released until 1971. Even still, with all the names it got after release, it was filmed under the working title Caribbean Adventure to keep potential investors from catching on that it was a zombie film.
So, truly, it's a painful gem of low-budget horror.
It even made it big in an episode of Elvira's Movie Macabre that I might just watch after this on Tubi. (The plain movie itself is on Youtube too, but I'd rather watch it with Elvira)
Tumblr media
CW: 1960's sensibilities
While there were some enjoyable moments in this movie, it wasn't good and constantly felt like it wanted to be a different genre entirely. This is an adventure romance that just so happens to have zombies in it.
The main character is even an insufferable, womanizing erotica adventure novelist that we get introduced to absolutely surrounded by women beside a pool in Miami while he recites his own work to them.
Tumblr media
If you want me to believe this many women are that interested in what he's saying, at least let him say "throbbing cock" instead of "throbbing temples" when we all know that's what it's supposed to be.
There's some admittedly funny dialogue here and then some unfunny dialogue that tries too hard and had me thinking this might actually be some kind of horror comedy. But it isn't. It's just weird.
They fly to Zombie Island (yes, that's the actual real name they call the island) and their plane runs out of gas so, naturally, our protagonist must take over for the Hispanic pilot to land them on the beach because he's so sexy and cool and suave. So sexy and cool and suave that he gets absolutely soaked through swimming in a river, but can still use the revolver he had stuffed in his waistband against zombies.
Tumblr media
I'll give them credit for the makeup, though. It's fun.
The movie goes back and forth between poorly acted, dull scenes with our white ensemble and "voodoo" rituals that almost feel like they just told the extras to improvise and dance crazy for. Whatever sort of mysticism that does get built up in the movie gets immediately ruined when they decide that actually the thing that made all these not-actually-zombies-apparently was a doctor doing experiments with snake venom and radiation.
Because god forbid the zombies be actual voodoo or anything. Guess that would've been too much like White Zombie (1932).
Oh, also the doctor's daughter has no chemistry with the protagonist, but right after she almost gets kidnapped to be a virgin sacrifice they fuck so it's real love and she's ride or die for him.
I could probably go on all day about the nonsense this movie has happen.
The author, his publisher, and the publisher's wife are definitely swingers the way they all talk to each other.
The Hispanic pilot gets blown up in his stationary plane by a slow-walking zombie carrying explosives as if he couldn't have just gotten out of the plane.
The protagonist pulls a guy off a boat by his rifle, beats him in the water with it, and then tosses it off in the water instead of taking it himself! He has proven he can still use guns that have been submerged!
He then steals a flare gun off the boat because "it's better than nothing" as if he hadn't just had someone's rifle in his hands a minute ago.
The opening had an extended bit of him making out with a girl, getting caught by her husband and getting chased back to his publisher's car where they drive off laughing as the guy he cucked literally kicks his wife in the butt like some slapstick routine!
NO ONE'S SKIN GETS EATEN!
Tumblr media
Feel like doing this after watching this movie.

Once you pledge your accounts receivable to an element, you'll obtain an advance of up to 80% of the invoice in money. The factor we'll return the remaining balance much less charges and curiosity as the receivables are collected. How you receive your payments from the factoring company can influence your total costs, too. For instance, some companies don’t charge any fee if you select to be paid by examine, but they'll cost a small fee if you want to be paid by ACH. Choosing this method means your money is routinely deposited into your bank account and usually arrives within two business days. It tends to be slightly costlier than ACH because of the increased value of wiring funds. For cash-strapped contractors, invoice factoring may be one option to help solve cash circulate problems. Factoring Companies Canada may help you find and compare factoring companies that can not only provide the funding you want but in addition supply tailored services to fulfill your distinctive enterprise needs. So, it’s a great choice to contemplate in case you have poor credit and want faster funding than most bad credit business loans. Non-notification factoring means the factoring company doesn’t reveal its presence to an invoiced shopper. When speaking with a client, factoring companies might use stationary with no revealing info or use your logo or different branding. If you could have some clients who pay shortly and others who do not, spot factoring may be the best option. Additionally, smaller companies in their early phases commonly encounter surprising expenses and occasions that exceed their budgeted prices. Because this approach is often used along side lower rates or a reduction, minimums may solely be a deal-breaker for businesses that aren’t positive how typically or how a lot they’ll factor. However, it’s something to look at for as you connect with different companies. Fixed skylights are stationary and provide constant illumination, while ventilating skylights can be opened to allow fresh air into your home. Tubular skylights are ideal for small spaces and can funnel natural light into areas with limited roof space. Choose the type that best suits your needs and space constraints.
Materials and Energy Efficiency: Opt for skylights made from high-quality materials that are durable and energy-efficient. Look for features such as low-emissivity coatings, multiple glazing layers, and insulated frames to minimize heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. Energy-efficient skylights not only reduce your utility bills but also contribute to a more comfortable indoor environment year-round.
Size and Shape: The size and shape of the skylight should complement the scale and style of your home. Consider the proportions of the room and the amount of natural light required. Larger skylights can create a dramatic focal point and flood the space with sunlight, while smaller ones may be more suitable for cozy nooks or bathrooms.
Installation and Maintenance: Proper installation is crucial to ensure the skylight functions effectively and remains leak-free. Hire a reputable contractor with experience in skylight installation to avoid common issues such as water infiltration or structural damage. Additionally, choose skylights that are easy to clean and maintain to prolong their lifespan and preserve their clarity.
Budget and Aesthetics: Set a realistic budget for your skylight project, taking into account not only the cost of the skylight itself but also installation expenses and any necessary modifications to your roof or ceiling. Balance your budget with your aesthetic preferences, whether you prefer a sleek and modern design or a more traditional style that complements your home's architecture.
Choosing the right skylight involves careful consideration of various factors, from its purpose and placement to its energy efficiency and aesthetic appeal. By taking the time to assess your needs and research your options, you can bring the beauty of the outdoors into your home while enhancing its functionality and comfort. So, look up and let the sunshine in with the perfect skylight for your space!

Howl (2015)
A group of near strangers are trapped on a stationary train as they are attacked by werewolves.
Most of the action was fairly character based, victims became more likely as they leave the group or make choices which left room for development and opportunities to explore their backgrounds. The make-up wasn’t typical but it had an aesthetic which was effective enough, similarly there was a slight deviation from the lore.
They weren’t typical werewolves as shown by how most of the usual rules didn’t apply, however that begs the question why they needed to be werewolves at all since any wood-dwelling monster would have done well enough for their role, even the full moon didn’t turn out to be necessary so including it was just for the trope. Also, despite being lupine the creatures didn’t have very good tracking skills.
Though it seemed to be done on a low-ish budget, this made it more focused on the narrative and usually leads to more practical effects which are often more satisfying for a horror film like this. The setting varied just enough to stay isolated while giving the story momentum, though this was more effective when there was a realistic chance of escape.
The love interest turned out to be the character with the least explored history which didn’t make for a strong romance. There wasn’t always a clear focus on who the protagonist is and the engineering guy actually suited the role better because he was proactive, decent, and challenged the views of his archetype.
4/10 -It’s below average, but only just!-

Discover the Rowing Machine Workout That Sculpts Your Entire Body

The Different Types of Rowing Machines

Rowing machines have become a very popular home exercise option in recent years. However, many people aren't sure about the different types available or how they can help you get in shape. Let's break down the main rowing machine options and their benefits.

What is a Rowing Machine?

A rowing machine, also called an ergometer or indoor rower, is a stationary machine that simulates the movement of rowing in a boat on water. It allows you to get an effective full-body workout right at home. Indoor rowing competitions are now even an organized sport!

The Main Types

There are generally four main types of rowing machines to choose from:

Hydraulic - Uses fluid resistance for a smooth motion but limited adjustability.

Magnetic - Offers multiple resistance levels through magnetic braking and quiet operation.

Air - Provides a realistic feel through spinning fan blades but can be noisy. Resistance increases with effort.

Water - Most authentic simulation as resistance depends on how much virtual "water" is involved. Requires filling a water tank.

Full-Body Workout Benefits

Each stroke on a rowing machine engages your upper body, core, lower body, and back muscles simultaneously. It's an excellent total-body cardio exercise that can help burn calories and tone muscles all over. The low-impact nature makes it easy on your joints too.

Rowing has also been shown to improve cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility more efficiently than other forms of cardio like running or cycling. The sweeping motion stretches your muscles through their full range of motion as you row.

How to Choose the Right Machine

Consider your budget, available space, and fitness goals when selecting a machine. The magnetic and hydraulic styles offer good value for most home users. If authenticity is priority, look at water models. Remember - consistency is key to seeing results, so choose one you find most enjoyable!

With the various options available, rowing machines provide a challenging yet low-impact workout that can reshape your body from home. Start rowing today for a stronger, healthier you.
