Technically a Linked Spirit au backstory moment but I mean. It was just easier to ID it this way lol... but if it's unclear: deku mask magic started to affect the kiddo and he was *not* excited.

Having just reread all of First and Lunar Shadows, I have a question about LS's last chapter - more specifically, Nitocris. She says to Hakuno when they all think she's about to sacrifice herself that “I was scared too. That day, and I was sure nothing was waiting for me, but I’m sure someone will be there for you. The Great Ozymandias would be sure of it as well.” does that mean she knew Gilgamesh would save Hakuno, or that she thought Hakuno was going to end up in the Throne of Heroes for everything she'd done? Or is she talking about the Ancient Egyptian Afterlife? I really like the idea that Nitocris thought Hakuno would end up in the Throne after dying, cause let's be real she probably will!
It's a bit of a mix honestly. Nito was...pretty sure Gil was going to at least go in there with her, but she does think that Hakuno will probably be engraved after making the wish she did. Essentially she restarted a dying timeline and gave them the hope to continue. Even if only one person remembers that, and knows that it happened, it did happen, and it did matter.
So while she was pretty sure that Gil wasn't going to let things end that miserably, she was also sure that if she does die, her spirit will be engraved.
Thanks for asking!

Off-White x Nike Shoes to return
Certain classic colorways, like the Bred or Black Cement will pop back up for an All-Star release and still sell out decades after their debut. Varied textures like soft french terry on the hoodie and heavy cotton on the graphic T-shirt make every garment an unexpected experience - and an unexpected pairing within the larger collection. Embarking on a new decade in 2020, the Air Max 90 is recrafted including the panel scale, toe box height and heel panel and will release in multiple colorways inspired by the shoe's original color blockings. Internal renovations to the silhouette include the shoe's original ultra-plush linings and constructions, with the sockliner featuring a hidden Easter egg - an Air Max 1 outsole on the bottom.
The momentum continued as the shoe hit 15, 20, 25 and carries on now at its 30th anniversary. The 2021 Be True collection is inspired by the idea that sport can be the setting for radical inclusivity. Throughout 2021, NIKE, Inc. seems poised Off-White x Nike Shoes to return the sneaker to 1985-form without relying on collaborations. The change was also meant to resemble an infinity symbol - you can trace the pattern across the midsole and never pick up your finger. The design still creates a functional kinetic system in the same way that Jordan Brand's Flight Plate and Eclipse Plate did.
The Jordan 4 did not return to stores again until 1999, roughly one year after Michael Jordan's retirement from the Bulls. It returned in the two original White Cement and Black Cement, while introducing two LS or Lifestyle models that boasted a Jumpman logo at the heel and leather panels in place of the netting. Coupled with Black and Varsity Red, the aforementioned orange tone helped introduce non-Chicago-Bulls-inspired styles to #23's seventh signature sneaker, which debuted in 1992. Pitch-dark colored nubuck set the stage for a Nike Off White mix of boldly-accented branding and midsole detailing, as well as the uncommon contrasting Citrus stitching found across all of the upper's overlays.
After leaving the league, all three worked tirelessly to help break down barriers for future generations. Clifton remains tied to the New York Knicks community and today, the Sweetwater Clifton 'City Spirit' Award pays tribute to local New York heroes who have made a significant difference to the lives of others. Today's weather - in New York City, at Nike x Off-White least - was one of the earliest signs of Spring, as the temperature finally reached just under 70 degrees. And it's safe to say everyone is getting prepared for the season, including Jordan Brand.

Fortune Lover Superheroes DLC
Fun Fact: This was almost a Hero School DLC, but I wasn't sure if that was the intent, so I went with full-on superheroes.
Welcome to the City of Sorcier, Home to the Superhero Team The Guardians!
Meet Maria Campbell! Recently moved to Sorcier, she is secretly the detective superheroine, Miss Flashbang! What she lacks in superpowers, she more than makes up for in ingenuity, kindness, and more gadgets than you'd expect someone her height to be able to carry on their person!
Join her as she meets the local superheroes who make up The Guardians:
Flame Prince: Geordo Stuart - The leader of The Guardians, he wields control over flames, utilizing specialized gloves to generate the spark he needs with ease. Ruthless on the battlefield, is there more than meets the eye behind that flame-styled mask?
Iceheart: Alan Stuart - Geordo's twin brother and his partner before the founding of the Guardians, he can generate ice for various purposes using the water in the air. A cool professional, can any warmth be found in his heart?
The Duke: Keith Claes - Cocky, flirtatious, and somewhat arrogant, he has such control over the earth that he can create "dirt dolls" of any size from any form of stone or earth. Always looking for the next fling, can such a wild spirit be tamed?
Windbreaker: Nicol Ascart - A skilled master of the wind, he is not usually one to leap into action without prompting, and often acts as Everywhere's voice when interacting with others.
Sirius: Raphael Walt - Formerly the host of Miss Flashbang's archnemesis, the villainous ghost "Dark Mage," he has dedicated himself to protecting people from magical threats using a talisman he received from his mysterious benefactor "LS" ever since the foul villain was finally exorcised from the mortal realm. Can he be saved from the shadows of his past?
Lady Garden: Mary Hunt - A refined gentlewoman who can control plant life, she is the definition of grace and poise, even as she strikes down her foes with enchanted vines. Can she be taught to let loose?
Everywhere: Sophia Ascart - Formerly Winter Wind, she had to retire from fighting when she realized she lacked the durability for sustained combat, but refuses to let that stop her from helping save the day! The coordinator and researcher, she is the best at what she does and what she does is vital. Can anyone crack the code to her heart?
And, of course, what sort of superhero story is complete without villains, or in this case villainesses! Meet the four major players of the opposition:
The Villainess: Katarina Claes - The undisputed center of a criminal empire despite having no superpowers of her own, she might look odd in her medieval-styled dress, but it is vital to never mistake eccentricity for foolishness, as she single-handedly conquered all of the criminal organizations in Sorcier by the age of 7 and is always looking for a new hero to turn her attentions to.
Anne: Anne Shelley - Katarina's loyal servant, she is her undisputed right hand woman. Dressed in formal maid attire, if there is something that her employer asks of her, it will be done.
The Network: Sienna Nelson - Formerly the heroine Whisper, she was considered a twelfth stringer in the superhero community with her power to use the wind to have her voice project any distance at any volume. Where hero groups saw little value, Katarina saw potential and made her into her spymaster. Can her pure heart be mended?
The Modern Villainess: Noelia Flores - The only person who calls herself by her villainous title, Noelia views herself as a better Katarina due to having a modern aesthetic while failing to have Katarina's level of control or menace. Hiring thugs from out of town, she is a frequent opponent in the game's combat mechanic, in contrast to the other three.
And then, of course, there's our brand new content!
Combat and Stealth!
Investigation Mode!
New Romance Targets Among The Original Cast!
New Romance Flags!
Go Up, Up, And Away in Fortune Lover's Super Romance DLC!
Addendum: Admittedly, we should have expected for there to be an interest in romancing a supervillainess version of Katarina when there was the Sienna route available. You can find the Katarina Route patch on our website to download it for free!

The conclusion to the VA/BL reread with Silver Shadows and Ruby Circle (here’s the post on FH, here’s the post on the VA closers SB and LS)
I think I forgot to emphasize this in the last post: it is bullshit that Adrian still had the Alchemist-paid-for apartment after the events of “TFH” and only becomes more unbelievable that Trey has it still in “SS”... I do not get it
Like with SB and LS, I would make a lot of plot changes in the adaptation.
Silver Shadows
Fun fact: her golden lily on this book cover actually flashes a little gold in the right lighting, and I love that
This one, especially the majority of Sydney’s stuff in the first half or so of the book, was much better than I remembered.
Adrian’s stuff had me far less forgiving. I realize he’s struggling with a fictionalized elevated form of bipolar disorder and he developed addictions in trying to self-medicate over most of his adolescence/early adulthood so far, but as far as his actions go... the part where he blackouts for something like three weeks while in Sydney’s chapters she’s so certain he’s going to rescue her... it really frustrates me. Especially because Richelle writes him as self-flagellating over it, but Sydney immediately reassures him “oh, no, I just got the gas turned off, you couldn’t have really done anything...” as if those three or so days weren’t a big deal with the way the time crunch worked out later... it’s one of those heavy-handed things where I don’t feel like Richelle ever actually makes Adrian own up to his errors in the same way the rest of the main characters have to. Including: Wesley Drozdov and his motley crew show up again, and Adrian plays big hero and outs their dabbling attempt on Sydney, and then with Keith later on thinks to himself “at least I’d taken no for an answer from girls” as if he hadn’t insistently pursued both Rose and Sydney (including the scene at Alicia’s Victorian inn in IS) and been revealed to have dabbled at least once. Like, good that he’s trying to make up for past behavior, but again and again it comes off to me as glib or insincere (in the way it’s written- that he’s some model that is exempt from causing harm). This especially pisses me off in the way he treats his mom for sticking in a loveless marriage to his dad (did Adrian forget about his mom’s affair with Ambrose btw?) for financial security, and even with the hypocrisy being pointed out to him and him begrudgingly admitting it in his mind, or he drags Nina to Sonya’s to try and get her compensated for her work and she’s all googly eyes at him, but his acts of chivalry feel empty. And this extends to Marcus, too, to a lesser extent. Look, I love Carly (all the Sage sisters mean the world to me) and I’m glad that she became an advocate for fellow survivors and I get what Richelle was trying to do in empowering survivors with Carly’s character, but Marcus’ star-struck admiration of her (being made speechless by her strength) felt weird and make me uncomfortable.
On to Sydney’s stuff, holy hell her side of the story is dark. And this conversion therapy nonsense in it is part of why I desperately want canon queer leads in the adaptation (preferably Sydney herself, which would yes mean Adrian and probably Rose... that’s my prerogative). Is that potentially triggering? YES. But Richelle took that step when she laid it on so thick with the allegory. In the meantime, I love the supporting characters that Richelle drew up to be in the center with Sydney. Emma, Duncan, and the rest (the fellow detainees- not Sheridan... she can burn) and I want more of them (seriously, Richelle made some great underexplored groups with the Unpromised, the Keepers, the Merry Men, and then these additional Rebelchemists). There is a weird mention of Sydney having arranged some supply closets on one of the floors, despite whatever scene she did that in seemingly having been cut (there was also a line Rose ascribed to Victor at the end of Last Sacrifice about sending Jill away, so it’s not unheard of). When I first read the book (with a long break before), the degree to which Sydney was using magic in there felt illogical, but rereading directly from the other books, it is more justifiable. I think the Detainment, and Sydney’s struggles there, is some of the best writing Richelle managed in the books, and I don’t have any changes to that part.
But the escape... is actively worse than I remember it. There are glimmers of some great stuff in there- I mentioned in the last post how much I love when Sydney wakes up Hopper and sobs over him, and that still is powerful. But omfg Sydney (and Adrian) hold up the stupid stick so many times in these chapters. To be clear, first-off: Adrian should have gotten blood before they ever went into the desert. In the worst case, he and Eddie (the night before the infiltration) should have gone off to the side and done a feeding (doesn’t have to be Eddie, since I imagine he actually has a bad reaction to them since FB, but it does have to be someone willing). Eddie would have enough time to recover, especially with adequate food. Setting that aside, the actual events of the escape work for me. So I guess it’s more the after. Sydney and Adrian should have driven straight to Las Vegas (if they wanted to stop in the other town and change clothes and switch cars that’s fine with me- I even like the senior citizen tour they were on; p.s. we never learn if the Ivashkinator was shipped back to Palm Springs or anything, which is very surprising to me). Their decision to stay in a hotel overnight, even as much as Sydney did deserve that kind of relaxation, was stupid beyond belief. I would have preferred they got to Vegas, were spotted by Alchemists but made it to the Witching Hour without issue, and then Adrian got them a room, and that was the point where Sydney relaxed and slept. Consolidate some of that. Let Sydney have her luxury bath, and a haircut from Adrian, and other stuff there. Let her mention to him that the first photo she saw of him was taken near there, and hey, did he know Rose had bought a car in Russia that Sydney loved. And when Adrian goes down to make some money to further their escape, that’s when he realizes they’re being watched- there are too many yellow and orange auras. Let them have a less exorbitant wedding than in the book- no ridiculous mermaid dress that Sydney can’t expect to move in and that is ridiculously expensive (she can still have a beautiful stunning white dress). Let her start with the blue sneakers. Let Adrian find a place to get the ring made, if that’s necessary (or just use the dang cufflinks as are for the time being and pin them to the fancy attire). And Jill sends the chopper directly to the Firenze for an “Italian” wedding. They can still have the showdown with Sheridan on the roof- just simplify everything.
And then when they get to Court- let Sydney do more of the talking. Let her (righteously) call out the conditions in the reconditioning- the torture because she showed empathy to Renee who couldn’t even eat on her own, the torture they inflicted on Emma to break her- she didn’t betray her own kind, the Alchemists are repeatedly betraying their own kind, pushing them into the darkness of an empty hole. Oh, and this necklace around her neck, that Sheridan took for her own before Sydney reclaimed it, the morning glories were painted by the man she loves. And she rejects the Alcehmists having any authority on her. She’s a witch of the Stelle coven; she’s Sydney Sage Ivaskhov damnit. And when her dad tells her that if she doesn’t come with them, these will be the last words she ever gets to say to him? She gets to ask him if he knew what happened to Carly, if he let it happen under his own roof because he wanted a son like Keith more than the daughters he was blessed with. I want Sydney arguing her case, having her real communion. I said the same for Rose and Spirit Bound, and Sydney deserves the same here.
p.s. there are a lot of structural parallels between this book and BP/early SB- Sydney’s reeducation being like Rose’s time in Novosibirsk, the Tasarov escape from SB (which Eddie directly mentions) immediately followed up with a Vegas trip
Ruby Circle
Dang it. Look, I no longer hate the idea of Sydney and Adrian raising a kid. Their ending in RC was a lot better built-up (and a lot less bitter for Sydney) than I thought the first time. But the road to get there...
I hate the Jill being kidnapped by Alicia part (and I don’t buy the Warriors working with her). Honestly, just let them deal with Alicia during the events of Fiery Heart (when next to nothing else is going on). Like, Adrian and Sydney come off really badly in my head for “causing” her kidnapping because of a personal vendetta against them, when they came there to protect her in the first place (I realize the actual fault was with Alicia, but the feeling stands). Also the pointless scavenger hunt leading them from Pennsylvania (so conveniently, even though Alicia would have had to go there to set her traps after abducting Jill in the first place?) a month after the fact to whatever castle (then to Michigan) then to Palm Springs and the infiltrating the Warriors mission... it’s all too much (also I refuse to believe Sydney cast those stinging demons... that’s so dangerous I can’t even). Given the introduction of the Stelle in FH, and the unnecessary Malachi stuff, it works better to do that all then anyways. (I still want Jackie involved somehow of course) Instead of sidelining Angeline at Amberwood, she should get to be involved in the hunt for Jill (same as Eddie was for Sydney).
In other parts... Wesley Drozdov was never a good character. I really didn’t need even a mention of him in this book. I also... don’t buy how stigmatized Adrian was for marrying Sydney. I can see it being a scandal, or a laughingstock, the source of snarky asides and derision, but Richelle never built it in VA or the earlier BL books to being as heinous as she then tried to make it (so that Adrian could feel suffocated by Court, just like Sydney). I would have been much more interested in trying to see Sydney blend in, and take a stand in the Moroi world (and seeing her try to ally with nonroyal Moroi, but that also still not going super smoothly because they don’t like being on the same level as a human), and maybe her trying out her magic with the Moroi fighters that Mia and Christian had formed (that beautiful, blessed little moment), and then if it integrating there didn’t work admitting that it just... wasn’t going to. Rather than not even trying.
I understand that Richelle was building up with Adrian’s fears of completely losing it with Nina, but she just got screwed over in both of these books. (We’re acknowledging that it was wrong of her to kiss him in SS when he wasn’t even conscious, and moving on). And then Olive got screwed. And Neil got screwed. I said before that I don’t mind Sydney and Adrian raising a kid. But I mind a whole heck of a lot that Richelle killed (essentially) Nina and Olive both (in bullshit, tragic ways) and then wrote Neil off so that Sydney and Adrian would have to raise a baby. Let Sydney be pregnant. Let her be recovering from the most traumatic event of her life, she and Adrian forewent protection on their hectic honeymoon/escape, she’s going to be a mom to a Dhamphir and wow that’s going to be weird for her... and meanwhile this allows her to get through to Olive. To promise Olive and Neil that Sonya and everyone else will not use their baby as a test tube. Nina can still go up to the brink (maybe she passes it and the spirit trio of Lissa, Sonya, and Adrian have to heal her), there can still be a Strigoi attack at the Refuge in northern Michigan, but ffs cut the crap treatment of those three to pass on a readymade kid to Sydrian. It is a trope that I loathe. I also dislike the “ohmigod” fangirl characterization of Mallory, and while the Rand stuff was better than I remembered (that is to say, he is terrible and everyone acknowledges that and no one makes light of it the way I misremembered), I could do without it (especially since I’d prefer that if they keep Dimitri and Adrian cousins, they addres it much earlier).
Honestly, I would do the following:
the start of the season for RC (which doesn’t match its name??) has Sydney and Adrian locked down at Court and they can’t help like they want to, so they try to adapt and do what they can there, including Adrian trying to get Nina to calm down; their friends from Palm Springs and Marcus team up altogether and get an infiltration squad with the Warriors of Light; Eddie gets to participate; they rescue Jill, and get some of the data on the Alchemist/ Warrior collaboration
the Moroi Court finally gets into action on the age and family laws in earnest; meanwhile, Sydney is helping carve out a niche for the rebel Alchemists to work with the Moroi, especially for Strigoi hunting groups like what Mia and Christian wanted to organize; Jill and Sydney are helping each other emotionally recover from their respective hostage ordeals; Sydney realizes she’s pregnant, which helps Adrian realize in a dream with Olive that she’s pregnant, and finally sees her location marker
it’s “rescuing” Olive time; Neil gets to go too- with his presence, things don’t all go to shit; there is a Strigoi attack in retaliation for the new hunting groups, but heroes persevere and protect the commune; the data on the Alchemist/Warrior collaboration, and the Rebelchemists work with the Moroi, gives the perfect leverage now to get the Rebelchemists their freedom and establish Sydrian’s future together
SO, after rereading Bloodlines
I dislike Sydrian less than I did, though I still think Adrian could be vastly improved if adapted as a woman
the second half gave Eddie more to do, but still not enough emotional focus on him
man Amberwood and its supporting characters disappeared; I get that Adrian isn’t likely to settle in California long term, but can I please get more resolution to those characters, whether it comes from more focus in IS, or a graduation ceremony or something?
Abe also disappeared which is strange
man, Sydrian have a lot of daddy issues. because their dads are both abusive jerks. but why oh why did Jared end up collaborating with the Warriors for tattoos? was it because of anger over ‘losing’ Sydney or just greed? I’m glad that Zoe and Sydney at least started to heal things, and that Zoe is ok where she is
we still never got answers on who restored Lee... Clarence only showed up for deus ex machina money and shelter and I guess blood (did Marcus ever get to speak to him again?)
minor grievance: Richelle described the Warrior recruits as being almost evenly distributed between men and women, with a slide toward men, before two pages later saying there were 30 potential guys and 13 potential ladies, and remembering that, oh, yeah, the Warriors didn’t really use women on the front line; I don’t want any of that subplot adapted I just... editing?

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
May 1, 2021
Heather Cox Richardson
In honor of this year's Kentucky Derby (won today by Medina Spirit), I'm posting a piece my friend Michael S. Green and I wrote together a number of years ago on Ten Famous American Horses. It has no deep meaning... it's just fun. It remains one of my favorite things I had a hand in writing, and I'm pleased to have an excuse to share it.
I'll be back on the usual beat tomorrow.
1) Traveller
General Robert E. Lee rode Traveller (spelled with two Ls, in the British style) from February 1862 until the general’s death in 1870. Traveller was a grey American Saddlebred of 16 hands. He had great endurance for long marches, and was generally unflappable in battle, although he once broke both of General Lee’s hands when he shied at enemy movements. Lee brought Traveller with him when he assumed the presidency of Washington and Lee University. Traveller died of tetanus in 1871. He is buried on campus, where the safe ride program still uses his name.
2) Comanche
Comanche was attached to General Custer’s detachment of the 7th Cavalry when it engaged the Lakota in 1876 at the Battle of Little Bighorn. The troops in the detachment were all killed in the engagement, but soldiers found Comanche, badly wounded, two days later. They nursed him back to health, and he became the 7th Cavalry’s mascot. The commanding officer decreed that the horse would never again be ridden, and that he would always be paraded, draped in black, in all military ceremonies involving the 7th Cavalry. When Comanche died of colic in 1891, he was given a full military funeral (the only other horse so honored was Black Jack, who served in more than a thousand military funerals in the 1950s and 1960s). Comanche’s taxidermied body is preserved in the Natural History Museum at the University Of Kansas.
3) Beautiful Jim Key
Beautiful Jim Key was a performing horse trained by formerly enslaved veterinarian Dr. William Key. Key demonstrated how Beautiful Jim could read, write, do math, tell time, spell, sort mail, and recite the Bible. Beautiful Jim performed from 1897 to 1906 and became a legend. An estimated ten million Americans saw him perform, and others collected his memorabilia – buttons, photos, and postcards – or danced the Beautiful Jim Key two-step. Dr. Key insisted that he had taught Beautiful Jim using only kindness, and Beautiful Jim Key’s popularity was important in preventing cruelty to animals in America, with more than 2 million children signing the Jim Key Band of Mercy, in which they pledged: “I promise always to be kind to animals.”
4) Man o’ War
Named for his owner, August Belmont, Jr., who was overseas in WWI, Man o’ War is widely regarded as the top Thoroughbred racehorse of all time. He won 20 of his 21 races and almost a quarter of a million dollars in the early twentieth century. His one loss – to “Upset” – came after a bad start. Man o’ War sired many of America’s famous racehorses, including Hard Tack, which in turn sired Seabiscuit, the small horse that came to symbolize hope during the Great Depression.
5) Trigger
Entertainer Roy Rogers chose the palomino Trigger from five rented horses to be his mount in a Western film in the 1930s, changing his name from Golden Cloud to Trigger because of his quick mind and feet. Rogers rode Trigger in his 1950s television series, making the horse a household name. When Trigger died, Rogers had his skin draped over a Styrofoam mold and displayed it in the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum in California. He also had a 24-foot statue of Trigger made from steel and fiberglass. One other copy of that mold was also made: it is “Bucky the Bronco,” which rears above the Denver Broncos stadium south scoreboard.
6) Sergeant Reckless
American Marines in Korea bought a mare in October 1952 from a Korean stable boy who needed the money to buy an artificial leg for his sister, who had stepped on a land mine. The marines named her Reckless after their unit’s nickname, the Reckless Rifles. They made a pet of her, and trained her to carry supplies and to evacuate wounded. She learned to travel supply routes without a guide: on one notable day she made 51 solo trips. Wounded twice, she was given a battlefield rank of corporal in 1953 and promoted to sergeant after the war, when she was also awarded two Purple Hearts and a Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
7) Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed was a talking palomino in a 1960s television show by the same name. At a time when Westerns dominated American television, Mr. Ed was the anti-Western, with the main human character a klutzy architect and the hero a horse that was fond of his meals and his comfortable life, and spoke with the voice of Allan “Rocky” Lane, who made dozens of “B” westerns. But the show was a five-year hit as it married the past to the future. Mr. Ed offered a gentle homely wisdom that enabled him to straighten out the troubles of the humans around him. The startling special effects that made it appear that the horse was talking melded modern technology with the comforting traditional community depicted in the show.
8) Black Jack
Black Jack, named for John J. “Black Jack” Pershing, was the riderless black horse in the funerals of John F. Kennedy, Herbert Hoover, Lyndon Johnson, and Douglas MacArthur, as well as more than a thousand other funerals with full military honors. A riderless horse, with boots reversed in the stirrups, symbolized a fallen leader, while Black Jack’s brands – a US brand and an army serial number – recalled the army’s history. Black Jack himself was buried with full military honors; the only other horse honored with a military funeral was Comanche.
9) Khartoum
Khartoum was the prize stud horse of Jack Woltz, the fictional Hollywood mogul in Mario Puzo’s The Godfather. In one of the film version’s most famous scenes, after Woltz refuses requests from Don Vito Corleone to cast singer Johnny Fontane in a movie, Woltz wakes up to find Khartoum’s head in bed with him… and agrees to use Fontane in the film. In the novel, Fontane wins the Academy Award for his performance. According to old Hollywood rumor, the story referred to real events. The rumor was that mobsters persuaded Columbia Pictures executive Harry Cohn to cast Frank Sinatra in From Here to Eternity. As Maggio, Sinatra revived his sagging film career and won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
10) Secretariat
Secretariat was an American Thoroughbred that in 1973 became the first U.S. Triple Crown winner in 25 years. His records in the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes still stand. After Secretariat was stricken with a painful infection and euthanized in 1989, an autopsy revealed that he had an unusually big heart. Sportswriter Red Smith once asked his trainer how Secretariat had run one morning; Charlie Hatton replied, “The trees swayed.”

The differences between some heroes were very small, but ultimately some heroes were never picked simply because the choice was always to go for the best hero – but heroes like Centaur, Dusa, PL, Oracle can only be picked by 1 player, which makes it unfair for other players. We think that LoD should be mostly about your spell choices and less about your hero choice. This update to Hero Classes should satisfy most of the concerns players had with the initial approach. Additionally, we think that after you picked your spells, you should quickly get into the action and not have to compare 5 different heroes only for someone else to be faster and snatch a hero you wanted – especially with the newly introduced double-rune mechanics, the bounty runes and the popular fast neutrals mode. Ideally, you should be able to think about your Hero Class while you complete your skill build. Download: DotA v6.82 LoD v6b Beta 3.w3x
File: DotA 6.88 Ai Author: unknown Date: July 4th, 2016 Size: 8.03 MB. Filename: DotA 6.88 AI English.w3x language: English
Dota 6.88 ai is the latest dota ai map created by a Chinese member and translated to english language. This map is a beta version based on DotA 6.85k, and includes various bug fixes as well as synchronization some items to the 6.88 for RGC.
DotA 6.88 AI
This Dota AI (Artificial Intelligence) version allows you to play against heroes managed by the computer (Bots), these bots can be configured to be enemies or allies in a match, you have the option to choose against which heroes to play (read commands), as well as select its level of difficulty in the game. This AI map also allows allows you to create games in “Single Player” or create offline games on LAN (“Local Area Network”), to play with your friends at cybercafe or LAN Center.
Dota 6.88 Ai includes the following new items: Dragon Lance, Faerie Fire, Solar Crest, Octarine Core, Book of Knowledge, Blight Stone and others and others improvements.
Requirements
If you want to play DotA 6.88 Ai, you need the following requirements…
– Warcraft III The Frozen Throne version 1.27b (1.27.1.7085) or latter version (+1.28)
* This dota ai map doesn’t work with the patches 1.27a, 1.26a or before.
frequent errors and solutions
I.- ERROR:
Tumblr media
“The map file is too big. Please choose a different map.” (when trying to play on LAN). Well, only 1.27b supports maps whitn more than 8mb in size. You can play this map in single mode with 1.26a or 1.27a patch (Join to “Single” -> “Custom Game” -> and in “Select game setting” select the dota ai map and play), but you can’t play on LAN. If you have patch 1.26a or 1.27a and you want to play DOTA AI on LAN with your friends, you have these solutions:
* Solution 1: update your Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne to 1.27b version * Solution 2: Use Warcraft Version Switcher to upgrade or downgrade your Warcraft version to 1.27b <-> 1.26a. * Solution 3: use the game.dll file of your 1.26a patch: “game.dll for LAN” (unzip and copy game.dll file in your warcraft folder, but first make a backup of your current game.dll file). * Solution 4: use the patch fixer: “Warcraft III bypass map file size limit” (Just unzip and copy the forcefixsizelimit and GameDll_fix_mapsize_limit.mix files in your warcraft folder). * All players need the same game.dll file/patch to play on LAN. Only use these dll/bypass in offline mode (LAN), never to play online, some servers detect it as a hack map / cheats, and you can be banned.
II.- Some Items and abilities/attribute bonus doesn’t work. Unfortunately at this moment there is no solution, this is a test map, we just have to wait for the next update. You can see more dota ai maps here.

Dream M!A: Experience a dream specific to any or all days of the week:
Tender Tuesday
Using her small stature to her advantage, the tiny orange femme shoves her way through a large crowd of Autobots who had flooded the streets, trying to get the attention of an important mech being escorted off his ship. Squeezing between a set of two large treaded pedes, LS stumbles out to the front of the crowd, seeing a familiar white and lime green mech waving to the audience as he is directed to the stadium by his track team. LS stares in awe, gazing at her idol up close for the first time, gawking at his chiselled jaw and charming smile.
A slight shove from an eager fan, and LS is knocked over the barrier and into the road, security bots all zoning in on her as she lands in the direct path of the athlete they were suppose to be protecting from crazed fans.
“You OK there, Ranger?” Instead of being hauled off by some angry looking guards, a white and lime green servo gently takes Lickety’s own petite, orange and cream one, and helps her back to her wheels. “Nothing broken I hope?”
The annoyingly talkative femme was left speechless for the first time in her short life-cycle, staring up at the face of her hero with utter disbelief as he still holds her servo.
“I want to become a speedster like you when I graduate from the Academy!” She finally blurts out, cheeks flushing magenta.
Instead of looking overly concerned or worried, Lightyear only smiles brighter. He lets go of her servo and instead ruffles her helm in an the affectionate gesture.
“Then I look forward to seeing you on the track someday where we can race together.” He nods and allows himself to be directed away.
The crowd of cheering sport fanatics follow the Galactic Champion into the stadium, while LS remains frozen on her pedes, clutching her servo tightly where she could still feel the warmth of his digits on her palm.
He noticed her.
Tumblr media
The first rays of rising sun trickling into her sleeping quarters, LS wakes up with a smile on her faceplate. Stretching across the berth, she yawns and turns to her beside cabinet, where a signed autograph of Lightyear proudly rests on the table, surrounded by the rest of her Lightyear themed memorabilia decorating her quarters.
She wishes the portrait good morning and goes about her daily routine, bright in spirits and ready for another day of intense training. One day she was going to become a real athlete and face off against Lightyear in a real Grand Prix circuit, then he’ll finally notice her as an equal and rival.

So intense was the terror of deprogramming inside the cult that some Moonie leaders passed out razor blades

A story from Bay Area Unification Church of the 1970s – part 3
By Bill Keller    The Pittsburgh Press, page 11   Friday, June 3, 1977
Tucson, Arizona – Deprogramming, the psychological antidote to alleged brainwashing by exotic religious cults, has become almost as controversial as the cults themselves.     It is such a chilly, 1984-ish word even those who practice it would rather call it something else.    To a member of Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s Unification Church, the word conjures up kidnaping, confinement, torture, loss of friends, loss of God, loss of hope.    Barbara Underwood, who was deprogrammed a few weeks ago, now calls the experience “sensitive and compassionate,” and says she may want to try it herself on those still in the church.    But while she was in the Moon movement she was warned that deprogramming tactics might include cursing, beating, humiliation, seduction or even rape.    A few months ago she was secretly spirited out of California to avoid deprogramming. Another time she went, armed with chemical mace and a deafening noisemaker, to stake out a house in Ohio where a Moonie was undergoing deprogramming and, if possible, aid in an escape.    So intense was the terror of deprogramming inside the cult, she said, that some Moonie leaders passed out razor blades, with instructions that captured Moonies should attack their deprogrammers or hurt themselves so they would have to be taken to a hospital.    The horror stories of deprogramming, ex-Moonies claim, are largely church propaganda, fed by reports from disciples who have been partway through the process and escaped back to the church. Ex-Moonies say the escapees embellish their stories to enlarge their hero-status within the cult.    One recent escapee from deprogramming has claimed his captors poured water up his nose; witnesses who were present say one of the deprogrammers sprinkled water in his face in an effort to break his trance-like state. Another Moonie says she was beaten with pillows; witnesses say an ex-Moonie gently tossed a pillow at her to get her attention.    Ex-Moonies don’t deny that occasionally a cultist has been slapped or sworn at, or that it has sometimes taken considerable force to hold a deprogrammee — especially in cases where the youngsters have been snatched without the authority of a court order. But they maintain such instances are exceptional.
Berkeley psychologist Dr. Margaret Singer, who has studied more than 100 former members of the Unification Church, said she knows of “nothing untoward” about the deprogrammings of any of Moonies.    Dr. Singer says that almost all the ex-cultists she studied continued to be deeply religious, either returning to the faith of their childhood or developing “a basic religious belief of a kind they say is really theirs.” Barbara said she has kept a deep faith in God, without feeling attached to any particular religion.    But concern about deprogramming is not limited to Moonies, nor based entirely on exaggerated stories of brutality.    Ralph Baker, attorney for the Unification Church, said he believes the pillow-beating and water-up-the-nose stories but feels even nonviolent deprogramming “is kind of alien to our American way.”    Baker says deprogrammers often charge “$15,000 to $25,000 a head,” and are simply profiteers taking advantage of gullible parents.    Deprogramming is expensive, though less so than Baker claims. The Freedom of Thought Foundation in Tucson, which wrestled Barbara from the Moonies says it charges parents a $10,000 retainer for legal work, travel, motels and the actual deprogramming. The foundation also provides several weeks of “rehabilitation” in a bungalow on the outskirts of Tucson, paid for by a Detroit philanthropist whose daughter left a cult.    Ann and Adrian Greek, a Portland, Oregon couple whose son, Phil, was pulled from the Unification Church under an Oregon court order and deprogrammed in the state, said it cost them about $4,000. Neither family complained of the cost.    According to Barbara and several other former Moonies, the deprogramming process consists of two basic elements: confinement and conversion.    After the “pick-up” of a Moonie, sometimes a forceful kidnaping but now more commonly under a court-ordered conservatorship, the cult member is confined in a motel room, at least until he or she seems unlikely to attempt escape.    The deprogramming period, usually a matter of days, often includes walks and trips to restaurants. In the case of Barbara who responded rapidly, the first few days included a picnic, horse-back riding and a tour of a California winery.    All of those interviewed said the cultists are given three meals a day and at least 8 hours of sleep a day. Under the conditions of Barbara’s court order, she was allowed to talk to her church attorney, to have any reading material she wanted and to practice her religion.    “I’d rather talk to you well rested, well fed and with all your faculties,” said Joe Alexander, a veteran deprogrammer with the Freedom of Thought Foundation. “You can accept what I have to say much better.”    Alexander, a high-school-educated former Ohioan who used to run a chrome and nickel plating shop in Akron, got into deprogramming six years ago when he helped pull his nephew out of a small cult called The Christian Foundation.    He claims a 90 per cent success rate, working with hundreds of young people in more than 30 cults. The Moonies, Children of God, the Hare Krishnas, Divine Light Mission, Scientology, The Christ Family, The Way International – “All of the groups are carbon copies of each other,” he said.    The key figures in a deprogramming are not usually the professionals like Alexander, however, but ex-members of the cult who are fluent in the church jargon and can reassure the “client” that they’ve been through it themselves.    The goal ls to get the cultist to listen.    “Eventually each person deprograms himself,” Barbara said. “Eventually a person talks out all the defenses until they’re tired of talking out their defenses, and then they begun to listen.”    The process was easier for Barbara than for most.    She says her faith in the church had already been rattled when her two closest friends – Eve Eden and Jeff Scales – were taken and deprogrammed last December. Both now practice deprogramming.    Then during the 12-day courtroom fight for her custody, Barbara said, the give and take aroused her curiosity. Why, she puzzled in her journal, had her attorneys not tried to convince the court of the alleged abuses that take place in deprogramming? And if all those charges were true, she wondered, why would her parents be willing to put her through it?    When the judge awarded her parents a 30-day conservatorship, Barbara and four Moonie co-defendants were driven to the Travelodge near San Francisco Airport, where they were met by a large team of deprogrammers and ex-Moonies.    The families split up into smaller groups, Barbara with her parents, her old friends Jeff and Eve, and Gary Scharff, once the top East Coast lecturer for Moon, now an official of the Freedom of Thought Foundation.    Many cultists resist for days, chanting to themselves, praying, pacing the room. Eve Eden said she “tried to fake it” for four days; pretending the talk was sinking in but actually chanting inside and concentrating on the possibility of escape. Barbara, however, had decided from the start to give it a try.    “I really had confidence that if I talked, it wouldn’t shake my beliefs,” she said. “I’d spent four years believing it and I’d sacrificed my whole life for it, 20 hours a day working for it and four hours dreaming about it.    “I just couldn’t conceive of anything short of brutality and torture that would get me to change my mind.”    For the past several weeks, Barbara has been relaxing in Tucson with other ex-Moonies; swimming and hiking, reading and studying, “trying to reclaim my past.”    Her future plans are uncertain, which is not unusual. Dr. Singer says it takes most Moonies eight months to a year to return to a “normal” way of life.    “Once you’re deprogrammed, that’s one thing,” says Eve Eden. “Then you’ve got to face yourself.”    In New York recently to be interviewed for a television talk show, Barbara worried for a long time whether to wear her long brown hair down, a style considered “satanic” in the church. Concerned about the Moonies who might be watching, she wore it up.    But despite such emotional tugs she feels she is free of the Unification Church, and glad of it.    “I can’t express the amount of relief I feel about being rescued,” she said. “And I really feel it was a rescue, because I know that I never would have left on my own. It would have been absolutely impossible. It’s so hard for anybody outside of the experience to understand the depth of that.”

This Grand National ‘Coulda Had a V8…And Got One
“I can’t believe you chopped it up!” That’s a common cry overheard when standing near, oh say a 1953 Corvette, Tri-Power GTO, or matching-numbers Mustang Cobra Jet that’s been radically modified by its owner. Though these cars are a significant part of American automotive history, the fact is; car owners are free to restore or modify as they see fit.
When it comes to the Buick Regal Grand National, Turbo T, T-Type, WE4 Turbo Regal and GNX, anybody over the age of 30 certainly remembers them as the most potent Detroit muscle offerings of the ‘80s. And while Buick’s Flint, Michigan assembly plant cranked out over 50,000 of these growling, bent-six powered stormers between 1982 and 1987, today they’re much more than fun used cars. In fact, low mile 1987 GNX’s (the epitome of Buick’s shenanigans with these last-gasp rear wheel drive machines) now command over $100K on the collector car auction scene.
So when we heard that the guys at NextGen Performance, a leading go-to LS conversion shop in Spencer, Massachusetts (774/745-0405) were putting a clean, low-mile 1982 Regal Grand National under the knife, we had to document the process. After all, the 1982 Grand National was the very first of the breed and is by far, the most rare. But does rarity equate to desirability and value? For some perspective, lets review annual Regal muscle car output, working backwards from 1987 to 1982.
In 1987, the turbo 3.8 Regal’s final year, 20,194 GN’s, 8,547 T-Types, and 547 ultra-potent GNX’s were built. Working back a year, in 1986 the totals were 5,512 GN’s and 2,384 T-Types. Going further back, in 1985, the GN and T-Type lacked the intercooler and SEFI (sequential electronic fuel injection) of the ’86 and ’87 but 5,512 GN’s and 2,100 T-Types still found homes. Before that, 1984 saw production of 2,000 GN’s and 3,401 T-Types, which added some color and flair to the GN’s blackout attire.
Going back to 1983, while Ford’s Mustang GT grew a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and Chevrolet whipped up the aero-enhanced Z65 Monte Carlo SS, exactly zero Regal Grand Nationals were built. Instead, Buick unveiled the Regal T-Type. With its AiResearch turbo blowing through a 4-barrel carb, new 4-speed overdrive automatic and 3.42 axle ratio, 15 second quarter mile times were possible for the first time since the last GS455 of the previous decade. Eager customers bought 3,732 of them.
Which brings us all the way back to 1982. Buick was kicking butt on the NASCAR race circuit as Richard Petty (1981) and Cale Yarborough (1982) cinched Manufacturers’ Cups for Buick. Prior to this, the only Buicks associated with NASCAR were found on the sleepy side of the grand stands- in the parking lot.
To celebrate the massive performance turn around, Buick whipped up the 1982 Grand National, a special version of the two door Regal named in honor of the superspeedway race series. Unlike the NASCAR-themed Chevy Monte Carlo SS (of 1983) and Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 (of 1986), which relied exclusively on Chevy 305 V8 power, Buick went with V6’s all the way through the GN’s production run. About that V6- it first appeared in 1961 aboard Buick’s senior compact, the Special and Skylark. At 198 and 225 cubes, it saw duty as Buick’s base engine offering through 1967. An odd-fire unit, the buzzy nature of the beast bucked Buick’s upscale vibe, so in 1967 GM sold the V6 engine program – including the assembly and machine lines – to Kaiser-Jeep. After shipping the V6 factory by rail from Buick’s Flint, MI home to Kaiser’s digs in Toledo, Ohio, the ex-Buick V6 became optional in the CJ and Jeepster for many years. In 1969, American Motors (AMC) bought Kaiser-Jeep, and with its line of 199-, 232- and 258-inch inline six cylinder engines, Jeep had no further need for the raspy, odd-fire V6. After 1972, AMC retired the V6 and put its’ manufacturing line in mothballs. Meanwhile, back at Buick, the mid-seventies OPEC gas crisis found its 350 and 455 V8’s too thirsty and too big for the downsized models being planned, so in a bizarre twist, GM President Ed Cole authorized the re-purchase of the slumbering V6 engine program from AMC in 1974.
By 1975, the V6 production lines had been transferred back to Flint, MI and Buick’s second V6 era began. At first, the obsolete, odd-fire crankshaft was employed, but by 1978, a smoother even-fire unit took its place. 1978 also brought the first turbocharged V6, laying the groundwork for the Grand National / T-Type / Turbo T dynasty to follow. Utilizing a single AiResearch turbo and blow-through plumbing, two distinct turbo engines were offered for 1978. The first utilized a Rochester 2-barrel carburetor and single exhaust with 6.9 to 7.9-psi boost that delivered 150 hp. Only available in 1978, Regals with this engine carry engine code G in fifth spot of VIN. The second turbo V6 offering employed a Rochester Quadrajet and had dual tailpipes (yet with a single catalytic converter). With 7.9 to 8.8-psi boost, it delivered 165 hp and carried engine code 3 in the fifth spot of VIN. To spread the V6 gospel, Buick even offered the turbo-boosted V6 in full size rear wheel drive offerings like the LeSabre but, unfortunately, never aboard the small Monza-based Skyhawk hatchback where it would have been a performance sensation.
Getting back to our feature car, the very first Regal Grand National was unveiled on February 10, 1982 as the official pace car for the Daytona 500. As usual, a limited run of street-going Pace Car commemorative editions were built. At first, 100 cars were planned, but strong demand stretched that number to 215 units. To handle this limited run of non-standard cars, Buick contracted with Cars & Concepts in Auburn Hills, MI where the special two-tone Silver Mist-on-Charcoal Gray paint scheme was applied along with unique leather covered Lear Siegler seats and special interior markings.
Under the hoods of those 215 Grand Nationals, one might expect to see turbocharged V6’s, right? Not so fast. For reasons yet unknown, the vast majority of these cars were naturally aspirated. According to turbobuicks.com, which keeps a registry of all things related to these mighty Buicks, only 35 debut-year GN’s were powered by the LC8 turbocharged 231 V6. Oddly, the rest were naturally aspirated. Quick identifiers were domed hoods on turbos and flat skins for naturally aspirated cars. Also, the eighth character of the VIN read 4 for non-turbos and 3 for boosted heroes. But all was not lost. Instead of the ho-hum 3.8 liter (231 cube) V6, Buick gave the naturally aspirated GN the “big” 4.1 liter (252 cube) V6 from its full size passenger cars. Okay, so it wasn’t quite like putting a 455 in the place of a 350, but the idea was there. The extra cubes delivered 125 horsepower and 205-lb/ft of torque. Interestingly, this bigger V6 was never offered with a turbo, and it never got an external fender emblem denoting its 4.1 liters in Regal applications. And get this: the 252’s Rochester Q-Jet rode atop a cast aluminum intake manifold. This makes the 1982 GN a special car in our book, even without the turbo. The 1982 GN is also the only member of the Grand National family without overdrive. Its old school TH350 automatic was strictly 1:1 in top gear, though 1982 did bring a fuel saving lock-up torque converter to all Regals. Out back, the 1982 GN carried the standard, light-duty 10-bolt rear axle with its puny 7.50-inch ring gear. At least 3.08 gears replaced the mid-two series cogs usually installed. The stronger 8.5-inch 10-bolt and 3.42 limited slip rear end that came in later GN’s and T’s was still a year away.
Okay, so what would you do with a well-preserved, debut-year Grand National? Since this is Car Craft magazine and not Muscle Car Review, you know what’s coming. When car owner Buck Anderson approached NextGen Performance, he told NextGen’s Josh and Eric Buzzell he was tired of getting pushed around by soccer moms in mini vans, and despite the decent stock 11-inch front disc brakes, the 9.5-inch rear drum brakes just didn’t inspire confidence under extreme conditions. Action was necessary.
So the fix was in. After an intense eight week transformation, the super scarce GN emerged with a full mechanical makeover. An all-aluminum, 400 horsepower LS2 replaced the 125 horsepower 4.1 “big block” six popper, a 4L65E 4-speed automatic – with overdrive – replaced the Turbo 350 and out back, a beefy Ford 9-inch puts the torque to the tarmac. Sure, the purists may say the world has lost another rarity, but since NextGen made sure to retain the GN’s unique exterior graphics and interior, the car’s true identity hasn’t been lost. Heck, the guys even retained the specific GN wheels and fourteen-inch tires. Visually, the car retains its spirit and character. But thanks to the Gen III heart transplant, there will be no more embarrassment at stoplights. Better still, with the 4L65E’s overdrive top gear, 20-plus m.p.g. is possible…as long as car owner Buck Anderson can keep his right foot off the carpet.
Tech Notes
Who: Buck Anderson What: 1982 Buick Regal Grand National Where: Rutland, MA
Engine: A stock 6.0 liter LS2 was pulled from a lightly wrecked 2008 Pontic G8 GT and refreshed with an LS3 cam and LS6 valve springs. The stock variable valve timing and active fuel management functions have been eliminated. Hooker cast iron exhaust manifolds (PN 8501) feed a Hooker Black Heart G-body dual exhaust system (PN 70501363) with an X-merge. Holley also supplied the cast aluminum LS-to-G-body retrofit oil pan (PN 302-2). The LS-to-1978-1988 G-body engine mount brackets are from Hooker (PN 12643).
Transmission: Though Tasca Ford is known for its legendary Ford SS, FX, Funny Car and modern day Factory Stock Cobra Jet Mustang exploits, Rhode Island’s Tasca family also owns a Chevrolet franchise in Woonsocket. Who knew? That’s where the Chevrolet Performance 4L65E automatic transmission and Supermatic 2,000 rpm stall converter came from. A Hooker 4L60 transmission cross member (PN 12644) nails it down.
Rearend: A complete G-body Ford 9-inch from Quick Performance houses a clutch-type Traction Lock differential and 3.70 gears. Ford-sourced disc brakes replace the puny 9.5 inch rear drums. The Driveshaft Shop built the custom 3 inch diameter steel linking the 9 inch and 4L65E transmission.
Suspension: Thanks to the LS2’s mostly aluminum construction, nose weight is unchanged and there was no need to bolster the coil springs. Stock replacement Dorman front control arms, QA1 coil springs and KYB gas shocks deliver a stock ride height. Out back, the stock control arms were boxed using weld-in web braces from Bear Metal. A QA1 rear sway bar, SPC Performance Pro Coil springs and KYB gas shocks yield improved handling without compromising ride height.
Wheels/Tires: Though tempted to deviate, the final choice was made to retain the 14×6 cast aluminum wheels that were one of the first GN’s key identifiers. They mount to 215/70R-14 Radial T/A skins from BF Goodrich.
Paint/Body: A New England car, minor floor pan rust was fixed with Sherman and Associates patch panels. Goodmark Industries reproduction chrome bumpers and bumper gap fill plugs from Highway Stars help hide the federally mandated 5-mph bumpers. A Glasstek fiberglass power dome hood shaved 20 pounds off the nose. Randy Beaudroin at Drag Graphix (N. Brookfield, MA 508/867-0490) applied the GN’s 1982-only two-tone paint scheme and shadowed Buick quarter panel logo.
Interior: The refreshed stock interior retains the GN-specific leather seats, plus dove gray carpeting from ACC. A used 1985GN console shift lever and quadrant indicator window suit the overdrive transmission. As a reminder of how very far we’ve come, the original government-mandated 85 mph speedometer is retained.
Performance: Car owner Buck Anderson hasn’t been to the strip yet, but on the SMG Motoring DynoJet chassis dyno the mildly modified 6.0 made 369 hp @ 5500 rpm and 376.4-lb/ft of torque at 4600 rpm. On slicks, mid-thirteens are expected. Despite the tires’ smallish contact patch braking is much improved over stock.
Though non-turbo GN’s were built with the standard flat-skin Regal hood, NextGen couldn’t resist the temptation to add a Glasstech fiberglass replica.
The 3-piece trunk spoiler arrived in 1982 and became a familiar sight to drivers of stock Mustang 5.0’s and Tuned Port F-Bodies – especially after the 1986 arrival of intercoolers.
Emulating the Plymouth, Dodge, and Ford quarter panel graphics pioneered by NASCAR racers in the sixties, the GN appearance package included huge Buick logos. They were expertly applied in paint by Randy Beaudroin of Drag Graphix. Buick abandoned them when the GN went mainstream in 1984.
A response to the exotic Recaro seats used in certain Ford sporty cars, the GN’s Lear Siegler bucket seats have adjustable bolsters, which are controlled by the black twist knobs. In 1984, Buick added Lear Siegler buckets to the Regal option sheet for $600. By contrast, the basic GM front bucket seats cost $195.
All 1982 GN’s were supposed to feature a unique Grand National decoration in the right hand instrument pod. But a small number – including our feature – received an analog clock instead. These GN’s are unique for having two clocks facing the driver. The second one is located in the digital cassette stereo at the head of the center console.
Part of Cars and Concepts GN rework included extra plush leather and velour rear seats – even in the back.
Though surprisingly solid for a New England car, chronic wet carpets triggered floor pan rust that was cured with patch panels.
The last Buick drop-out style (Hotchkis) rear axles vanished with the 1965 Riviera. But thanks to its weld-on upper control arm mounting ears, a Ford 9-inch from Quick Performance works with the Regal’s four link rear suspension. The 3.70 ratio is tamed by the 4L65E’s 0.70:1 overdrive ratio, which behaves like a 2.59:1 cog in fourth.
New replacement rear control arms are bolstered by laser-cut insert braces from Bear Metal and welded in place by Eric Buzzell.
Inside the 4L65E transmission, a Chevrolet Performance converter combines a 2,800 rpm stall speed and lock-up feature for hard launches and efficient highway cruising.
The 6.0 liter LS2’s variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation features were eliminated. A stock LS3 cam and LS6 valve springs work with Hooker cast iron headers to deliver about 430 horsepower (369 at the tires). To read how NextGen eliminated the cylinder deactivation system, see the story in the July 2017 issue of Car Craft (Full Displacement Demand, pps. 16-22).
A high capacity aluminum / plastic radiator and Derale electric fan cools the LS2. GM pioneered the cross flow radiator on U.S. cars in the mid-sixties. Chrysler and Ford retained taller, less efficient top-tank radiators for several years after.
After toying with modern mega hoops and rubber band tire sidewalls, the guys eventually opted to keep the stock 14-inch rims and modern-retro Radial T/A’s. They’re excellent for the intended purpose of fun street cruising and even clear the disc brake upgrades.
New in 1981, the Regal’s aerodynamic waterfall grille helped Buick emerge as a major NASCAR player. Its dominance triggered the 1983 Monte Carlo SS to help Chevrolet racers keep up.
Josh and Eric Buzzel (L / R) started NextGen Performance in 2012 to specialize in Gen III engine swaps and other late model performance vehicle upgrades. Though they also welcome old school points-and-carburetor customer projects, on the day of the shoot a Porsche 911 arrived for an LS7 engine swap. These guys can handle it all.
Look close at the upper left hand corner of the factory emissions certification sticker for the nifty 4.1-liter marking. Usually reserved for full size models, it gave the naturally aspirated GN a little extra go. The 4.1 (252 cubic inch) V6 shared its 3.4 inch stroke with the more common 3.8 (231 cubic inch) unit, but its 3.965-inch bore was a full 0.165-inch larger than the 3.8’s 3.80 inch diameter.
Fully aware of this launch-edition GN’s rarity, NextGen carefully stored the stock 4.1 V6 and related parts. Dig the aluminum intake manifold. Rated 125 hp at 4,000 rpm and 205 lb-ft. of torque at 2,000 rpm, 0-60 came in 11 seconds, the quarter mile in 17.8. For contrast, a fresh Turbo Regal tested in the Feb. 1982 issue of Motor Trend got to 60 mph in 9.6 seconds and ran the quarter in 17.3 seconds.
The stock 7.5-inch rear axle was also packed away for a mechanical restoration that will probably never happen. Though Buick offered 3.23 cogs at no extra charge, this cruiser packed the standard GN 3.08 ratio and open differential. The G80 limited slip unit cost an extra $80.
A year before the 1982 Grand National’s arrival, Buick paced the 1981 Indy 500 with this one-off creation. Surprisingly it’s 4.1 liter V6 wasn’t turbocharged. Instead, Buick teamed with Baker Engineering (Grand Rapids, MI) on its carbureted 281 horsepower V6. Oddly, Buick didn’t follow up with the usual limited production run of street-spec replicas.

Pitch:
I want this song to relate to my main character. I want this to happen so that the audience will create the tension of being on top of the world and not having to be ashamed

The song Tell the World by Lecrae acts as an anthem to proclaim the world of God to all the people of the world. Lecrae relishes his purpose driven in to his creation of music by being inspired by ‘catalyzer’. The meaning of ‘catalyzer’ is going from artist to architect (designer). Lecare announce “I sought influences and collaborators I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to work with. The patient growth process was born out of ‘gumbo’ of more than 50 songs, some to just get off my chest. I don’t know if they were all meant ti be heard but I know they were meant to be written”.
Lyrics of chosen song:
The passage that has been Highlighted in Yellow, I understand that in this hook Mali is talking about to tell the good news for everybody, like Jesus said in the Bible;
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
Mark 16:15;
When we find Jesus, He makes us completely new and everybody needs to know that. Our mission is shared and this big blessing we received and make other people know and accept him to be brand new.
God new we would face discouragement. He provided for those times by giving us verses like this. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13). The word motivates us to keep moving forward when our situations seem hopeless. In this verse from the Bible in Romans 15:13 if I relate it to my music video it talks about how the 5 year old boy who will never lose hope and the connection to his dreams from happening in reality.
Joseph knew one day the dream God gave him would become reality. But first, he needed to trust God with no minor detail – he needed to get out of jail. The chief cup-bearer Joseph spoke to in this verse may have forgotten Joseph, but God hadn’t. In His timing, the Lord released Joseph from jail and established him in a place of honor. To connect this to my character shall that will never come true. It means that he will not lose sight of the coming future and the support that he will receive from his parents and his friends.
[Hook – Mali Music:]
Now, I'm a tell the world, tell 'em
I'm a tell it everywhere I go
Tell the world, tell 'em
Yeah, I'm a billboard
Tell the world, tell 'em
And I'm broadcastin' like a radio
Tell the world
You ought to know, I'm brand new
 [Verse 1 – Lecrae:]
I know one thing's true: I don't even really deserve to know you
But I-I'm a witness that you did this, and I'm brand new
So, I-I'm read' to go, and I'm a tell the world what they need to know
A slave to myself, but you let me go, I tried getting high but it left me low
You did what they could never do
You cleaned up my soul and
Gave me life – I'm so brand new
And that's all that matters
I-I ain't love you first but, you first loved me
In my heart I cursed you, but you set me free
I gave you no reason to give me new seasons, to give new life, new breathing
But you hung there bleedin', and ya' died for my lies and my cheatin', my lust and my greed and (Lord!)
What is a man that you mindful of him?
And what do I have to deserve this lovin'?
 [Hook – Mali Music:]
Tryna make the moments last
Holdin' on to the past
But, like a hero in a dream
Christ came, and he rescued me
Now, I'm a tell the world,
Tell the world, tell 'em
I'm a tell it everywhere I go
Tell the world, tell 'em
Yeah, I'm a billboard
Tell the world, tell 'em
And I'm broadcastin' like a radio
Tell the world
You ought to know, I'm brand new
 [Verse 2 – Lecrae:]
I can't offer you nothin', but your care and kindness keep comin'
And your love is so unconditional, I get butterflies in my stomach
I got the old me in the rearview
Now the new me got a clear view
And I was so dead, I couldn't hear you
Too deep in sin to come near you
But you drew me in, you cleaned me up, so take me home, beam me up
Before you do, just let me tell the truth, and let these folks know that I done seen ya' love
And it's everlasting, infinite, it goes on and on, you can't measure it
Can't quench ya' love, they can't separate us from the love of God, there's no estimate
My face look the same, my frame ain't rearranged, but I'm changed; I promise I ain't the same
Your love's so deep you suffered and took pain, you died on the cross to give me a new name
Ain't nothing like I've seen before, I got a beaming glow
I was low, down, and dirty, but you cleaned me, Lord
You adopted me, you keep rocking me
I'm a tell the world, and ain't nobody stopping me!
 [Hook:]
Tryna make the moments last
Holdin' on to the past
But, like a hero in a dream
Christ came, and he rescued me
Now, I'm a tell the world,
Tell the world, tell 'em
I'm a tell it everywhere I go
Tell the world, tell 'em
Yeah, I'm a billboard
Tell the world, tell 'em
And I'm broadcastin' like a radio
Tell the world
You ought to know, I'm brand new
 [2 Corinthians 5:17 – Lecrae:]
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
He is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Yea, I'm brand new
Now, I'm a tell the world,
Tell the world, tell 'em
I'm a tell it everywhere I go
Tell the world, tell 'em
Yeah, I'm a billboard
Tell the world, tell 'em
And I'm broadcastin' like a radio
Tell the world
You ought to know, I'm brand new
Technical Elements and production visual:
Focus: In times where a character is in deep thought I’ll use the effect of a natural vignette to show a feeling of relaxation and independence. Video camera, Go-Pro (so that we can capture a point of view shot). For my Camera Shots I will include CU (close up), MS (Mid-shot), LS (longshot) etc. through the production I will want to add in a few more camera shots but may be shot that I will not consider using a lot of times during filming hours. By some reason I will want to add some more shots to my music video and if I do I will have to record it in my blog.
“Film shots are an essential aspects of a movies where angles, transitions and cuts are used to further express emotion, ideas and movement. The term “shot” can refer to two different parts of the filmmaking process; In production, a shot is the moment that the camera starts rolling until the moment it stops.”
Tumblr media
 Angles:
Wide Angle Shot
Tumblr media
This is a get out of jail free card. The subject takes up the full  frame.
Extreme Close Up
Tumblr media
The Extreme Close UP gets right in and shows extreme details.
Close Up
Tumblr media
A certain feature or part of the subject takes up the whole frame.
Long Shot
Tumblr media
When referring to a person, a long shot means they take up almost the  full frame height.
Lighting:
The music video will be shot in black and white in the beginning and also towards the end and then colour will be added in. I will mostly use natural lighting. The reason for this is because using natural lighting will make the shots mush more better, even using flashlights to copy the natural light won’t make a different but it will be easier to use.
Contrast- the film will start off with a relatively well ignited setting in order to show the audience that there is a basic equilibrium (meaning: shows normality and comfort/inciting incidents which will lead to the second phase of the music video) in the beginning. As the equilibrium progress then the lighting dims to present a natural lighting of the surrounding of the main character. Lighting is the connection to the genre of a sporty/ adventure as the black and white fades into colour showing the older version of the main character at the age of five. The lighting will be conventional for a school setting: we are able to dim and brighten the lighting while streaming into the rooms by using natural lighting. As the film is set in some different areas, the idea of day/night is not extract.
 Soundtrack:
In the presence of a Sport/ adventure genre, the music increases the speed I want the audience to have that intention of the music taking with on an adventure. The music adds emotions to a scene and this element changes the environment from a dream fail to an event that will be create from the 5 year olds needs. Music can contribute mood and pace. This is useful when targeting the audience as it gives them Hopes and Support for those in need. My music video will have a well-known Gospel music to young adult and older adults (target audience) a fast base rhythm that beats into your mind to create the intention of the audience putting themselves in the music video.
