You don't meet Matsson until a lot later than everyone else. Not that they were actively keeping you away from him or him away from you, it just sort of happened like that. You hear a lot of conflicting things, though. At first your brothers kinda like him. They like him because your father likes him. Shiv, on the other hand, knows there's something wrong with him. She can feel it. You don't make your decisions based on theirs, they're a bit of a mess

When your family goes to Norway, that's when you meet. From the moment he sees you, he's fallen for you. You're perfect. Suddenly he's losing track of what he's saying, he can't finish his thoughts or even focus. Your siblings are all business, but he doesn't want that now, he doesn't care. What he wants is you

You're not all that interested in the business side of things, so while your siblings mingle and talk money you find a strong drink and somewhere far enough from everyone to relax. You don't really care what anyone thinks, as far as you're concerned this is an escape, a vacation away from real life, from life and death and everything

"Enjoying yourself?"

You jump, not realizing he was there or how long he'd been there. Lukas sips at his own drink, all smiles. You thank him for inviting you, but he knows that's all bullshit. If it wasn't here, you would have taken the jet somewhere else. Still, he was glad you showed up. He's glad he finally got to meet you

Away from everyone, Lukas feels like a real person. You don't mean to, but you two get talking. You talk about your fathers, your childhoods, your likes and dislikes. He's actually quite funny, too. You don't even notice all the time that's passed until you're shaking in your heavy coat, the sun setting. He walks you back to your room and promises you'll talk like this again

Kendall and Rome are too wrapped in their drama to notice, but Shiv never takes her eyes off you. She sees the way he lights up around you, the way he laughs. She doesn't like it one bit

"What did Matsson want?"

"Shiv, it's three in the morning."

"What did he want?"

Nothing, really. There didn't seem to be any ulterior motive, you were just hanging out. Wasn't that the whole point of Norway, was to meet one another's teams? Get to know one another? You roll your eyes and go back to bed. You would never tell her, or any of them, but you liked Lukas. He was funny and thoughtful and he made you smile. When he listened, he really listened. You were excited to see him again, very excited

When he's not in meetings with your family, he's by your side. You spend those few days attached at the hip. You can't remember the last time you laughed so hard. Your mind is completely taken off everything having to do with your dad. He makes sure of it. He doesn't want you to be alone with your grief

Somehow, he gets your number and calls and texts you whenever he can, especially on the plane ride back when he pills that stunt with your brothers. He asks you to send a picture of their faces and you two laugh about it together

Lukas makes a point to visit you often, almost every day after. He clears his whole schedule for you. Your family doesn't know that of course. He never takes their calls, or anyone else's, when he's around you. You're his whole world when it's you and him

It doesn't take long before you're a couple. Your relationship moves quite fast. You choose not to tell anyone, wanting it to be between you. Besides, you know how it'll go down. They'' forbid you from seeing him like you're a child. You'd rather not listen to it

Through the election party and election you see one another in secret. Lukas can't take his eyes or hands off you. He hates keeping you a secret

He's so quick to say I love you, and you're quick to say it, too

You've never been in a relationship like this. Things move both fast and so painfully slow. When he has to go back to Sweden you miss him more than anything. Kendall can tell you're not acting like yourself, but he has no idea what's wrong

"Are you feeling okay?"

"Why are you asking?"

"No reason, never mind."

You're the best thing to happen to him. You make him a happier person. He's still got his jokes, and he's always making fun of Greg, but other than that he's far nicer. You make him happy. Oskar and Ebba suspect it has something to do with you, but they don't say anything

You don't see him in person again until the funeral. There you can't hide it anymore. You go to him, already crying. He holds you and kisses your head, promising you one day it won't hurt this much

All of your siblings take note of this, as well as Gerri, Karl, and Frank. None say a thing, not today, but they all look at one another, knowing it will be discussed at a later date

And it is. They watch as Lukas comforts you the whole day, through the reception. He genuinely seems to love you, Gerri thinks, but knows better than to say that

It only takes a few days for them to "invite" you to dinner. More like an intervention, you think, the gour of them waiting for you

"What do you think you're doing?" Shiv asks, furious. She can't believe you're wirh him. Lukas, of all people. She knows things you don't, but you don't care. It won't change the way you see him, love him

"Are you happy? I just want you to he happy." Connor takes your hand, all smiles and warm gestures. Really, after everything, he just wants you to be happy. You like Lukas then he does, too

"I think you need to breakup, y/n." Kendall is very straightforward with his words. He doesn't like this one bit. You shouldn't be dating anyone period let alone the guy with the faulty numbers trying to take your fathers company

"Is it true he sacrifices babies to keep his skin so soft?" Roman is on another planet. He's the only one who realizes that whatever they're trying to do, it won't work. It'll only push you closer to him

"You're all ridiculous." You say before leaving and calling Lukas. He thinks it's funny, the way your family thinks they can work through things but actually makes it worse

"Shut up, it's not funny!"

"Family insanity is always funny, min kärlek."

He's always giving you cute Swedish nicknames and teaching you Swedish swears and phrases if you don't already know

You don't care what they have to say, you love him and he loves you. For the first time you feel loved by someone who isn't your brother or sister. He doesn't love you for your name, or your wealth, or whatever. He loves you for you

When the Gojo feal goes through, you can't be happier for him. With the way they're acting and have berm, you thought none of them earned their place as CEO. You're glad the company went to him. If your relationship weren't enough, your happiness about the deal pushes them over the edge, Kendall specifically. You know it'll be a long time before you can talk again, before your relationship is healed. If it will ever heal

You can't help it, you're happy for him. He deserves it. He's worked hard. And now he has you by his side, his CEO. Together, you're a power couple

That little brood of tiny vikings are gonna be taking over NYC with their happily married parents. Their birthday parties are going to be epic! You know the Easter day egg hunt at the Matsson-Roy household is going to be the most lavish event of the season. Lukas, so would hide some actual gold eggs...the parents would be ecstatic, but the kids would be like, "Where is the chocolate?"

idk where i got this from but i kinda headcanon that lukas hates nyc? i feel like he thinks it's too loud and dirty and american.

but anyways yes all their events are so hardcore. he would hire professional decorators for every holiday and hold huge family/close friend gatherings. also loves that he gets to invite the other roy siblings just so he can provoke them by showing off how happy and functional his family is. like i got your company, i got your sister, and i got the family you want.

the golden eggs thing is so. good. just another way to casually flex his status over everyone else attending. also also also, i feel like he would get so involved in the kids games?! like he's that one parent that fully participates in all the activities meant mostly for kids. i can just picture him laughing maniacally as he does the potato sack race with his kids, letting them win at the last second, and putting the winner up on his shoulders as he takes them around for a victory lap.

- Lukas Mattson can't believe it when he's forced to accompany an aging Logan Roy to hospital after he collapses at another one their supposedly gentle business strolls. He's never liked being in a hospital, always associating them with the worst days of a person's life, but his mind very quickly changed on that when you appeared as Logan's emergency department nurse. Your calm professional demeanour, mixed in with a few dark jokes at Logan's expense would have him falling for you hook line and sinker, considering pushing Logan over more often so he'd have an excuse to come back and see you.

- Instead he decides to ask for your number, offering you to take you out to a small local concert with a very famous band that only a few very rich people in the know get to attend. You'd spend the night swapping stories over beers in between sets, and jumping along to songs you know, a huge smile plastered on Lukas's face from the second he picks you up to the moment he returns you safely to your front door, calling it a good night with a kiss on the cheek rather than risk overstepping.

- It would become tradition that whenever Lukas was in town he'd take you out; dinner, shows, aquariums, museums, galleries. Half the time he'll hire out the whole place so he doesn't have to share you with anyone else, making the most of the precious moments you get to spend together.

- He'll miss you more and more in the time he has to spend away, asking you to make him playlists that are the full length of his journey home to you so knows when he hears the final song that you're almost back in his arms. As you get more comfortable together, he starts to fly back into town more and more, growing to really appreciate the quiet nights in too, laughing maniacally at your sarcastic commentary of horror films, enjoying the way you fit perfectly leaning against his chest because of your height difference.

- One day he simply cannot bring himself to get on his flight away from you, and that's the day he decides he has to propose, to do something to cement your relationship so even when he's away you know he's only thinking of you.

- The next time he's back in town he takes you out to one of your favourite museums as usual, but for once you realise that you're not the only people there. As you walk through the main entrance you bump into a friend from the hospital there on a date too. And then across the foyer you see one of your family members you swear you haven't seen in years. Just as you start to think this is just the absolute strangest coincidence, Lukas leads you in the main exhibition hall and the breath in your lungs stills as dark flowers fill every space, candles lining an aisle on the floor, at the end of which is all the close friends and family you could imagine. As you turn to Lukas to ask what the hell is going on, you realise he's dropped to one knee, presenting you with the most intricate diamond ring you've ever seen. His eyes tear up in front of everyone as he tells you how you've become his home, and he can't imagine being away from you for a second longer.

- The wedding is surprisingly traditional for two less than traditional romantics - an enormous church with almost floor to ceiling stained glass windows, covered in the same flowers and candles as your proposal. Lukas in a classic Tuxedo, waiting down the aisle as you float down in your stunning white dress, his hands trembling as he carefully lifts your veil to seal your union with a kiss in front of all your friends and family.

- The party is held at a five star hotel Lukas has rented for all your guests, the wait staff bring drink after drink of the finest wine as you eat a delicious meal that your guests will be dreaming of for years to come. When the dance floor finally filters out to just you and Lukas, he'll make a big show of carrying you bridal-style to the lift, a penthouse honeymoon suite awaiting the two happy newly weds.

You are Roman’s favorite, he’s the only one who visits you every year, so since you’re back in New York, you usually hang out at Roman’s place.

When you’re free of meeting, you will fly to Sweden. You and Lukas have developed a serious relationship. ‘What if I buy your dad’s company?’ He asks. ‘There is a cheaper way to impress me Lukas’ ‘No I’m serious’ ‘Then you should buy ATN too’ ‘Wouldn’t that destroy him?’ ‘That’s my point’

You were at Connor's side when you heard the news. That Logan is dead while he's on the plane to meet Lukas. You felt empty, just blank, not any hint of sadness. You saw Kendall, Roman, and Shiv were crying and saying I love you Dad at the phone. They're devastated at the news and couldn't do the interview, so it was you to do it.

Your sibling didn't have time to mourn Logan's death that much since Lukas invited them and the company to Norway.

You were excited, you and Lukas agreed to make your relationship official at the retreat.

Everyone was so shocked except Roman, he saw it coming since the first day. Kendall totally couldn't accept it, he refused to talk to you all day. Shiv just looked at you in disbelief but didn't say anything.

You love this retreat, you always ask Greg to be your photographer for your Instagram. Lukas hates how you are always with Greg when you should be next to him.

So he asks Greg who he is and insulted him in Swedish in front of his friends. You get mad at him for talking about your family like that. You and Lukas have a fight and you ended up leaving the retreat that afternoon and flying back to New York to help Connor with the funeral.

You haven't heard from him until the funeral day. You saw him with Shiv and that totally sums up everything for you. You ignore him all morning just to end up being pulled away into the dark corner of the church, him kissing you passionately and saying he's sorry and how much he's missed you.

So that week he stayed with you at your penthouse and he proposed to you.

He has you by his side while taking a group photo as GoJo successfully bought Waystar and ATN. You showing your new engagement ring as your new chapter of life is about to start as a wife and an American CEO of Waystar.

Connor is as far from the Gojo deal as possible. He quite literally don't give a fuck who Lukas is which makes him perfect for you. You meet at the election party, pretty far into his campaign. He doesn't notice that you came in with your brothers crew, only that your glass is empty and it needs refilling. At the party Connor tells you all about his presidential campaign and what he's trying to represent. In turn, you tell him about this silly tech conglomerate company you work for. He just adores when you speak Swedish, telling him the best swears and phrases. From there you two text and call a lot, all behind your families backs. None of them even know you've begun seeing one another seriously until Lukas is signed as CEO and you're standing there, beside him, holding Connors hand. His family is furious, as is your brother, but neither of you care. Connor is funny and sweet and a bit oblivious, but what child of a billionaire isn't?

Kendall meets you after your brother invites them to Norway. You stay hidden, not really part of the deal, but he notices you anyways. Kendall claims it was love at first sight for him. He wanders, hoping to bump into you. When he does he's quick to start the conversation. You being related to Lukas, let alone his baby sibling, doesn't even begin to cross his mind, not until Lukas finds you out in the dark together, under the stars, huddled close. He makes it known he doesn't like what's going on and orders you inside. You do as you're told, not before you slip Kendall a paper with your number on it. He calls you the second he can and your relationship develops from there. After the deal goes through, you know your relationship will never be the same. He's hurt. Deeply. Pretending it didn't happen or ignoring it won't do any good. It definitely puts a strain on your relationship unfortunately.

Shiv is infatuated with you. From the moment she sees you standing by Lukas' side, she knows she has to talk to you. You make it pretty easy, seeking her out as well. You're not sure how it happened, only that it did and there's nothing your brother can do about it. You see one another a lot now that she's helping your brother. You joke that she's only doing this to see you which Lukas doesn't like at all. Especially since he's considering dropping Shiv, he knows it won't end well. In the end you're signed as CEO and Shiv puts on the facade that she couldn't be happier. You feared she would leave you, that your relationship would be ruined, but she's all smiles. Underneath she's furious. She hates Lukas. She can't hate you, she loves you, but she definitely isn't happy about this switch. You tried to tell her, warn her before she got her hopes up. He wanted to keep it in the family. Surely Shiv would know a thing or two about that.

Roman he's so handsome you and Roman are like two weird, off-putting peas in a pod. Based on these ideas which I love, Baby Matsson isn't at all like their brother. They're strange and weird and a teensy bit scary. He knew from the moment he saw you he wanted to be with you. You scared Frank and Karl and that made you deeply interesting. Your relationship isn't like a normal relationship. There's biting and play-fighting and saying things that only make him laugh. Lukas doesn't love that his baby sibling is with Roman of all people, but at least he knows you're his problem now while he figures out the Gojo deal. You're two strange, deeply faulted people who found one another in a stressful time in your lives. When he's not yelling at your brother in Norway he's sneaking off to be with you in the woods where you take away the stress, the nerves, the hurt. You're his rock through the funeral and even after the deal goes through, you sit with him at the bar and make him laugh with all the ways your brother could end up dead.

Bonus! Lukas fucking hates anyone being interested in you, but a Roy? Are you dumb? Are you blind? You could do a hell of a lot better than one of them, no matter how strange or off-putting you might be. He's got important work to do and you're getting in the way of that. Even before he died Logan wasn't too fond of the relationships you made with his child, but at the end of the day he couldn't stop you. He thought feelings got in the way of good business. So does Lukas. The difference between them is he can lock you away where they can't find you, Logan doesn't have that power. You're smarter than that though, telling him only after things are serious. You're an adult, you remind him, you can do whatever you like, including being with them. He can go fuck himself, a phrase that sounds too Roy-like.

It just hit me! Lukas is so sure about the reader's love and unconditional love for him that he thinks he can get away with talking to Shiv on the side. That dummy thinks that since Ebba keeps working for him despite the blood bricks and all his antics, he can get away with anything *facepalm*. Like, my brother in christ, she's a billionaire, and she's probably fed up with all of the backstabbing going on in her family. Loyalty was your one thing!

this is such a good take! lukas is so so cocky, i could absolutely see him doing this. also he's so weird in social situations... he probably wouldn't even think it's as big of a deal as it really is. like if your flirting with her sister she's gonna be mad, no matter how charming you can be or how good the sex is.

and he's been literally pushing reader to get out of her comfort zone and take less bullshit from her family. that would absolutely backfire on him if he cheated on her, cause she wouldn't stand for it like she might have in the past!!

I need you to know it was complete hell picking what to ask for, but on the basis that this seems least likely to have anyone else ask for it, give me some YKWniverse Mencken & Matsson headcanons, please and thank you. If you don't have any worth mentioning, I will take YKWniverse Mencken in general.

YKWniverse Mencken & Matsson headcanons (this is fair to ask for, because Roman doesn't see a lot of it):

1) Jeryd thinks Lukas is hilarious, and they text a lot. Jeryd's always delighted to get his texts. They're very different than Roman and Lukas's. Very.

2) Lukas initially was standoffish from Jeryd specifically because of the racism, and it did have a little to do with him trying to pry Roman away, though he had absolutely no desire to admit it (awkward and horrible stuff). Once things lightened up and he admitted what he did, Lukas trusted him - mostly because Roman vouched for him. Again: they text, and Lukas finds Jeryd's weird sincerity and naivete kind of cute, actually.

A/N: These relationships are based on this particular fic/headcanon set. They're my favorite Baby Roy, and I think it really complicates some of these relationships! I know this was more of a question rather than a request, but I just couldn't get it out of my head!!! Feedback is always appreciated 💜💜💜

Tom doesn't like you. You don't like Tom. The feelings are mutual. Not only do you think he isn't good enough for Shiv, which he's not, but you two have a lot of unspoken tension and hostility that's there just because you're you. Tom thinks you're a fuck-up. You're an addict and an alcoholic. You have been since you were a kid. With all the money and opportunities you and all your siblings have had, and yet you turn out like that? Rehab after rehab. Overdose after overdose. Not even your own father could stand you in those later years. He understands why he locked you in your room for days at a time, why he hired nanny after nanny so he wouldn't have to deal with you. Even your own mother doesn't love you. Tom thinks you shouldn't have any power in the company that you shouldn't have any say. Not after the stunts you've pulled. He still can't believe your brothers and sister still ask your thoughts and genuinely listen to you. You've shown him that you're not a Roy. You're not ready to hold that title. If anyone is, it's him. Not you. But he has to put up with you. You both resort to the silent treatment and talk behind one another backs. It's just easier this way.

Greg likes you, at least as much as he likes your siblings. He's kinda afraid of you. He's intimidated by you, to say the least. You're an all or nothing person. Growing up, you were in the thralls of your addiction and often got him involved. Could he go into your room and get you a white circle pill from the prescription bottle in your nightstand? Could he get you another drink? Don't tell Logan. Greg wasn't sure what to do. He couldn't say no to you. He was definitely scared of you, so often he did as he was told. Now that you're sober, he's grateful you can have some type of normal relationship. Kinda. Normal for him, at least. Like your siblings, you order him around a lot. He's in the way or just around too much. Who invited Greg? You don't see him as one of your equals. He's just there, Tom's assistant, basically. When it's just you and him, you're capable of having a relationship, but as soon as Tom invited himself, you're immediately turned off. To you, he's an extension of Tom. He's the puppet to his master. You don't have a lot of respect for him either. He does as he's told. There's no fight, there's no push back. When Tom destroyed his office he just let it happen. You have your issues, but you're not a pushover.

Marcia wants to act like your mother. She knows your mother is pretty absent and doesn't want to deal with you, contributing to your issues. She hopes that if she steps up, you'll confide in her, and you'll get your act together. She and Logan talk about your issues long before your siblings ever know. But he's not concerned. He sees no problem with it. You've gotten your temper under control. Secretly, Marcia worries, but without Logan behind her, she can do nothing. You don't like her. She's not your mother, and she never will be. Maybe she genuinely cares, maybe not. It doesn't matter to you. Years she spent watching you hurt yourself, and she did nothing. You come and go as you please. When you are home, she fears she'll have to call an ambulance every time. You and Shiv make jokes at her expense and laugh along with your brothers when they have something to say. She was an accomplice all those years, and you can't forgive her for that. She's just another one of his wives. That's it.

Gerri is a lot like your mother figure. She has the relationship that Marcia wants. She's the one you go to when you have no one else, when your father has iced you out. She's always had a soft spot for you. You're the baby, after all. She's there for your first drink, and hopefully, your last. She watched you grow up. She watched you spiral. She knew everything Logan knew. And he knew everything. It was Gerri on the phone with you after a hospital visit, telling you that she was sorry but your father was very busy, too busy to talk to you. She was the one who called, angry, fearing the worst, while in Norway. She sat in the emergency room while you got your stomach pumped. She was there through it all. Not Logan, certainly not your own mother. She gives Roman the cold shoulder, but she can't bear to let you go. You're like one of her own. She still emails, asking how you're doing. You tell her you're still sober. You definitely go to her for all your mothering needs and approval. When she's around you understand what it would have been like had your mother actually been caring and attentive.

Lukas likes you a lot. When you called them during their getaway to Norway, when you overdosed again and they came running to your rescue, he didn't see weakness like everyone else had. He saw power. He saw someone who had a shitty childhood and did something about it. Granted, it maybe wasn't the best thing, but you did something about it. It was a major middle finger to your father and everyone involved in the company. That takes guts. Far more guts than the rest of your family has, he thinks. You wouldn't meet until he signed the Gojo deal. It's there that he expresses interest in you. You aren't like your siblings. Look at you. You're barely clinging on. You're real. You're a real person with real faults and a hell of a history. He'd like to order you a water and hear all about it. Your siblings make sure you stay far away from him. He's screwed them over now. He is not to be trusted, especially around the baby of the family. Not now, not ever. You don't think you like him. He chose Tom for Christ's sake. Tom, of all people. His judgment must be piss poor if he chose Tom. He's not as smart as everyone thinks. That was a bad move for the future of the company.

Stewy is actually a good friend of yours. You've known him as long as he's known Kendall. You grew up before his eyes. You guys aren't that close outside of clubs and bars. He's a bit of partier himself. Like he says, he likes bad drugs. You two would find one another at a club and spend a few hours together. This was before your family knew about your late nights. Stewy was impressed by your tolerance, forgetting you were still just a teenager. He was too messed up to remember to care. You'd get high and dance, and at the end of the night, you'd throw however much you owed him at him. Money was never an issue. He made the mistake of bringing it up to Kendall shortly after they figured out what was going on. Kendall banned Stewy from seeing you from getting near you. How could he? You partied at all the same places. You'd assured him that Kendall was just being dramatic when he said that. Stewy wasn't your only dealer, but he was the smartest. You didn't get anything laced with him. Now you're not as close. He still says hi, but he still goes out, gets fucked up. As much as you want to, you can't.

Uncle Ewan has similar feelings towards you as Tom. He's called you a "junkie" more times than you can count. He doesn't let you defend yourself and doesn't care what your siblings have to say about it either. He doesn't see you as Logan's child or even as a Roy. As far as he's concerned, you don't exist. You don't matter. When you do see him, he always rubs your sobriety in your face. After Logan passes and you self-destruct at a club, he feels the need to ask you how much you've had to drink that day. Even at the funeral, he says he can smell an entire bar on your breath. If you weren't so afraid it would kill him, you'd punch him. Your brothers have to hold you back after a comment like that. He wasn't ever sure why Logan even had another kid. You weren't anything special to begin with. He didn't even like your mother. He knew, from the beginning, you'd be a disappointment. To Ewan, you have always been and always will be a disappointment.

But just cause your gonna get it only from reader’s perspective, I’ll tell you generally what goes on. It’s kinda out of the blue because they’ve been able to keep it secret, like nobody saw it coming. And it’s kind of confusing because reader had such a spotless reputation and Lukas has the most controversial takes on the internet. It goes crazy on Twitter and Instagram, all the media accounts like Popcrave are posting it. They can’t go anywhere for a while without a crowd of paparazzis finding them.

Honestly it kind of boosts Lukas’s public perception. He was seen as this kind of rich douchbag playboy, but him showing commitment and being tied to such a well liked person makes the commentary switch up. Also Lukas would absolutely put like “[reader]’s boyfriend” in his Twitter bio and post the cutest couple pictures of them cause he’s obsessed with reader like that.

honestly the best of both worlds! i feel like if lukas got married he would be such a “wife guy ™.” where his entire world revolves around his wife and he’s constantly worshipping her. like you literally don’t see him in public without her, and everyone’s constantly wondering how tf he got her because he’s so awkward and she’s sooo gorgeous. but then you see the way he treats her like she’s an actual god and it makes sense! ♡

I do think that even if reader left Lukas and moved on from him he would still forever live off of knowing he was the man she gave herself to first (and so intimately!). In his weird little obsessive mind, she is his forever and he “has” her in a way no one else can

i agree. that man is fucked in the head (in a good way), he would jerk off to the memory of their first time for years after they broke up. honestly feel like he would go as far as messaging her actual husband/partner to remind them that he was her first.
