also.. one employee in the security control room is "harmony s" (in "d&r" aka "disposal and recollection"). my theory is that harmony cobel used to be a severed employee, and eventually was moved up to management, where severance no longer activated in her brain. (the security room very likely has the ability to do this.) she got severed because it was an objective of her cult- the quote "to heal, one must be cut" hangs upon her wall.

i think she is actually mrs. selvig as well. how? her late husband's last name was selvig, so before, she went by harmony selvig. harmony s. a while after his passing, she went back to her maiden name, harmony cobel. she sympathizes with outie mark because he, too, lost his spouse and was so heartbroken that he elected to be severed.

Ok, new theory/idea. So on the severed floor of Lumon you're not allowed to sleep/nap because it taps into your subconscious and the severance chip can't control that. So sleeping can tap into your outie's life when you're an innie and that's why Irving sees the black goo/paint when napping. BUT that would work two ways, therefore as an outie you could subconsciously tap into your innie's thoughts/memories while sleeping. This could be another downside to the severance chip, frequent nightmares about things you never remember seeing, long white hallways, endless fields of numbers, etc.

I feel like I don't fully understand severance but like I don't want to fully understand it, there's many theories and I don't want them confirmed because I don't want to limit the possibilities, I want to remain ignorant of certain aspects of lumon industries
