Been there. Can you feel the cold urgency of “distract my brain from the terrible news”? Amazing job, The 1975!

Taylor Swift’s “this is me trying”, another masterpiece of hers. It’s an anthem to me these days. And to do her genius justice in a few words isn’t easy but this was me trying.

“You make the best of a bad deal / I just pretend it isn’t real”...In Taylor Swift’s “Soon You’ll Get Better” she sings about her fear, impotence & escapism in the face of a loved one’s illness. And yet by writing this song, she is facing the pain.
To be honest, I used to be afraid to even just listen to it because of the fears and emotional pain it stirred up in me. But sometimes we have to face our fears. Now that I’m over that, the song even helps me dealing with some difficult emotions.

Sometimes what truly matters is just this one person, this one sacred thing or place. It’s where you find comfort, always. And where you love to spend the happy days.
