Okay so on that ‘Danny’s obsession is protection & space’ thing. Y’all really gonna tell me an obsession of his is protection and he’s not going to get overprotective of those closest to him? Not in the ‘if you accidentally step on a crack in the road I WILL lose my sanity’ way but more of when a ghost attacks and they’re put in danger, he can and will go absolutely feral. Snarling, glowing, all but wrapped around the person, arched back and a look of murder in his eyes. The other ghosts learn who his favorites are and collectively decide “yeah ok try to leave those specific people alone unless you want to get your head bit off.” and even then, sometimes he just decides to get overly protective of seemingly random people or Amity in general depending on his mood or the severity.
And unfortunately for my boy Phantom, he can’t exactly control his obsession. That ain’t how this works chief. Which winds up being very awkward when he almost tears off every piece of Skulker’s armor when Vlad decided to hire him to try and capture/kill Jack (which also wound up putting Maddie in a whole lot of danger but still). And also when he looked ready to curb-stomp Johnny 13 into oblivion when he decides Valerie is gonna be his next target. That was...a fun time.

Part Three
For Phic Phight 2020. Prompt by @five-rivers--Jack and Maddie acquire the pieces of Freakshow’s staff.
Sam was worried. She was always worried when Danny fought, but when his parents showed up, it made her anxiety skyrocket. Tucker must have felt the same, because he started fidgeting when the snake slammed into the RV. After a few seconds, Sam got fed up. "Stop that," she said forcefully, glaring in his direction. He stopped and glared right back, but only for a second. "Sorry," He said, turning back to the fight. The snake slammed into the building and Sam looked around, trying to find Danny. She caught a quick glimpse of him hovering between them and the RV before he vanished. Turned invisible, she guessed. He was probably trying to find an inconspicuous place to transform back. Jack sucked the snake ghost into his thermos, and Sam thought they were going to leave, like they always had in the past. But then Maddie shouted. "Show yourself, Ghost!"
Sam gasped when Danny appeared not far in front of her, facing her. Why had he done that? Why had he dropped his invisibility? Then she saw his eyes. They were blood red, instead of toxic green like they should have been. Once she got over the shock, she realized that the Fentons had to have brought a shard with them. Her eyes went straight to Maddie, and she saw the shard hanging around her neck like an amulet.
Tucker's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Why'd he do that?" He asked Sam quietly. The Fentons still hadn't noticed the two of them watching the fight, and he didn't want to attract their attention. Sam locked eyes with Tucker. "They have a shard with them. We have to do something. Now." Tucker's eyes widened in shock. "What do we do?" Sam thought for a moment before answering. While she was thinking, the Fentons caught sight of Danny, who was just kind of hovering. "There you are, ghost boy," Maddie said menacingly as she took aim. Jack stood just behind her, fumbling with his own ectogun. He was facing away from them, so Sam was pretty sure they hadn't realized what had happened. They hadn't realized that Maddie could make Danny do whatever she wanted. They had to hurry. "Tucker, stay here. I'm going to try to get the necklace." Sam took off running before Tucker could respond. She ran straight for Maddie, putting herself between Danny and the gun. "Sam! What are you doing? Move!" Maddie shouted at her, but she didn't lower the gun. Sam ignored her and kept running. When she reached Maddie, she pushed the ectogun to the side. "What are you doing? He's going to get away!" Maddie protested, trying to wrestle the gun out of Sam's hands. "You can't shoot him, he's the good guy!" Sam said. She shoved the gun hard. While Maddie was knocked off balance, she reached out and grabbed the necklace. A hard yank, and it was in her hand. Maddie recovered and, now that Sam wasn't right in front of her, took a shot. The beam shot towards Danny. "Phantom, look out!" Sam yelled. Danny turned around and moved just in time to avoid the beam. His eyes were still red. He had moved though, and she had hold of the shard now. Before she could really think about it, she yelled, "Get out of here!" Danny instantly took off skyward and vanished. Sam sighed with relief. Maddie turned on her though, and she looked upset. Sam pocketed the shard before Maddie could see it. "Sam! What were you thinking? That ghost is dangerous." "No he's not! He's a hero, he helps people." Maddie sighed. "He's a ghost." She stalked off towards the RV. Sam rolled her eyes at the statement and walked back towards Tucker. She gestured for him to follow her. "Come on. We'd better go find Danny."
They found him a few blocks away. He was walking fast back towards the Nasty Burger, back in human form. He looked really worried. When Sam saw him, she ran toward him and hugged him. "Danny, are you okay?" She asked, pulling away. He looked a little confused. "Yeah, I think so. What happened? I don't remember much after my parents showed up." "Your parents had one of the shards with them," Tucker explained. "They got you with it." "What!?" "It's okay, Danny. Nothing happened." Sam said to calm him down. "I don't think they realized what they were doing. Besides," She pulled the shard from her pocket. "They don't have it now." Danny instinctively recoiled at the sight of the glowing red shard, though he knew it wasn't dangerous in Sam's hands. Sam didn't hesitate. She threw the shard at the pavement, and it shattered on impact. That must have done it, because the tiny pieces that were left turned to shimmering red light before completely vanishing. "That's a relief," Tucker said. Danny didn't feel too relieved though. His parents still had several shards left, sitting downstairs in the lab. And why had his mother been wearing this shard in the first place? Had they already figured out how to use the shards? Danny had seen them influencing that little blob ghost in the lab the night before. Maybe they had already decided to test the shards on other, more powerful ghosts. Maybe they had decided to test them on Phantom. On him. Sam's hand on his shoulder stopped his thoughts from spiraling any further. "Danny, don't worry about the other pieces. I'm sure Jazz will find them. For now," She smiled, "let's go to my place for a dead teacher marathon." Danny smiled back. Sam always knew how to take his mind off things. Besides, Jazz was going to look for the shards tonight. He had nothing to worry about.

Touch the Stars
Aunt Alicia, Stuck in the Fenton Thermos, Identity Reveal, Dual Obsession (Space) AU
Danny knew it was a mistake to go ghost while his family was visiting Aunt Alicia.  He knew this and yet here he was, stuck in the Fenton Thermos because he couldn't resist.  He couldn't resist when he saw how clear the night sky was, no light pollution in these backwoods and everyone should have been in bed.  Should have.  Apparently his mom had to use the rhubarb and she happened to notice the ghost kid floating transfixed.
Danny was jolted out of his thoughts when they stopped moving.  "Jack!  I've captured the ghost boy!", he heard his mother shout.
'Oh great, now it'll be even harder to get out of this.' he thought as he tried to roll over in the cramped thermos.
"The ghost kid? What's he doing way out here? We're hundreds of miles from Amity!" Apparently Dad is still awake.  Did no one actually go to bed when they said they would?
Danny's tail lashed in the confines of the thermos, pinprick stars lighting up and fading out along its length.  He wanted to be back up in the sky, the colors of the milky way are visible and he needed to be seeing them.
"Now what's all this ruckus about?" came the grouchy voice of his Aunt Alicia.  Apparently all the shouting had woke up one of the only people to actually go to bed.  Now if only Jazz was awake, she might be able to think of a way out of this mess.
"Alicia! I've caught a ghost!  It was just floating there near your property line!" Maddie exclaimed.
"A ghost? There ain't no such thing as ghosts.  Madeline are you sure you weren't just dreamin'?"
"I wasn't dreaming! I went out to take care of my business before going to bed.  I have in this thermos a genuine ghost!  One that seems to follow my family around," she muttered the last part more quietly.
Jack's voice boomed out, "The kids should be here for this!  We finally caught the ghost kid, I'll go wake them up!"
'Oh no, oh no, he's going to find out I'm not in bed, c'mon Jazz!' Danny was on the verge of panicking now.
"Don't bother Dad, I don't know how anybody could sleep with all the yelling going on around here." Jazz sounded annoyed, "Now what's this about Mom catching a ghost?"
"I caught Phantom while I was outside!  I think he's been following us," came his Mom's voice again.
"Well the only way find out what he's up to is to ask him, right? Maybe he's out here for a good reason?" Jazz tried to reason.
"I suppose the only way to find out for sure is to let him out of the thermos, but I don't have a containment unit with me right now!" his mom again.
"If you really have a ghost in there, you ain't lettin' it out inside my house!  Whatever you're about to do, do it outside!"  Aunt Alicia grumbled.
'Oh please let me out, I can go invisible and escape before they notice that Danny Fenton is missing!' Danny was starting to feel a glimmer of hope.
His hopes were dashed when someone started shaking the thermos.  Hard. "Now you listen here ghost!  There won't be any funny business when you come out, I've got my ectogun right here and if you so much as go invisible I'll shoot you right here!" his mom threatened.
Danny was still dazed and was feeling motion sick when he was suddenly released from the thermos back into night air.  He groaned pitifully and covered his mouth with his hand.  It would really suck to throw up in front of parents in ghost form.  He slowly looked up, 'Oh crud.'  His mom really was prepared to shoot, and her aim, unlike Dad's, is very accurate.
He vaguely heard a soft exclamation of, "What in tarnation!" from his aunt but he was too busy staring down the business end of an ectoweapon to focus on her.
"Well ghost?  Why are you following my family?" Maddie demanded.
"Mom! At least give him a chance to answer!  Danny-Phantom, you can tell us." Jazz seemed to be trying to encourage him.  Did she really want him to just reveal his secret like this?
He stared up at his mother, even floating slightly she was still taller than him.  Might as well try to get away with the minimum and save blowing his secret as a last resort.
"Uh, um, it's just...the stars?" he made an abortive motion towards the sky, trying not to seem threatening. "They're just so much brighter out here!  There's no light pollution away from the cities and you can see everything so clearly!"  His stars were twinkling again along his tail again and from the slight green glow he could see along the edge of his vision, his freckles were lighting up too.
His mom refused to be distracted, "That explains why you were in the sky, but not why you were in the sky out here.  Where my family happens to be. What do you have to say for yourself ghost?"
Aw geez, it looks like he'll have to blow his secret to get out of this one.  All because he couldn't keep his space obsession under control.
"Ah, well, you see..." he stuttered out before pausing and taking a deep breath.  "The truth is, I came here with you, I didn't follow you.  And I know this is gonna sound weird, but I swear it's true!  I'm not just a ghost, I'm your son." He took the opportunity of his mom's surprise to change back before she could decide to shoot him for his claim.
"Danny?!" His dad cried as he took in the sight of his son, in his NASA pajamas, standing barefoot in front of his sister-in-law's house.
"Yeah Dad, it's me, it's always been me.  I got ghost powers when I had the accident with the portal.  And I can explain the bad stuff you thought Phantom did!  There were reasons for all of those things!" Danny said in a rush.
"Oh Danny, my baby boy!  I could have shot you!" his mom was crying.  Oh no, his mom was crying.
"No Mom it's ok!  I wouldn't have let you shoot me, I definitely would have told you before it got to that!" 'Like right now' "And I was just afraid, not of you, but that you'd make me stop, and I'm making a real difference protecting people from ghosts at home" Danny said.
"I don't know what sort of tomfoolery is going on right now but it's way too late to be dealing with this right now." Aunt Alicia stated. "I think we all need to get our butts back to bed and whatever is going on can be dealt with in the mornin'."  She turned and tromped back into the house.
Maddie exchanged a glance with Jack before saying, "I suppose our questions can hold off until tomorrow, or considering what time it is, later in the morning."
Danny nodded happily at the reprieve, "That's fine, great even!  I'll just come in in a few minutes.  It's not often I get to see the night sky like this..." his freckles flashed green for a moment at the thought.
His mom sighed before giving a soft laugh, "You always did love the stars Danny, I suppose you can watch them for a little longer, just make sure to come to bed soon.  You have a lot of questions to answer in the morning Mister."
His dad patted him on the shoulder saying, "I'm proud of you Danno, my son, a ghost hunter!" before walking back into the house.
Jazz just gave him a gentle smile from her spot behind their mom, "I'm proud of you little bro," she whispered, knowing that he would hear.
Danny couldn't keep the grin off his face as he turned away from his mom back towards the sky.  It's not often he got to see the night sky like this. Blue light washed over his mom's face as he changed back into ghost form.  He did a flip as he leapt into the air, sparkles and light glimmering off of him as he focused back on the stars still brightly shining above him.  He reached out with his hands, up in the air the stars felt so close!  This was turning out to be a great night, for more reasons than he could have hoped.  His parents were accepting of him, even if they seemed concerned about the danger he was in, Jazz had his back, and even Aunt Alicia wasn't upset!  It really felt like he could touch the stars right now.
