super interesting that in 2019 just before production started on Andor, diego luna visited the EZLN film festival in Chiapas. He's said before that their initial uprising in the 90s was defining moment for him so I would be super curios to know if that visit and that struggle had any impact on the direction of the show, since luna was also executive producer

i dont think the show is like secretly about that or anything but i do have a feeling it had some impact on the decision to change cassian's backstory to originating from a group of people who are clearly meant to be read as indigenous and suffering under extractive industries (that giant open pit mine from episode 3) instead of fest

Is there Diego Luna in relationship with someone? He’s still single ?
While I can’t say anything for certain, I do know that as recently as 2021 his partner was a Mexican actress named Marina de Tavira. Not sure if that’s still true, though!

lmao campaigning efforts don’t always work though. Look at Chris, who campaigned pretty hard during covid for Defending Jacob and didn’t get the Emmy nom. Also I remember a few years back when Adam Sandler campaigned super hard for uncut gems and failed to get the nom, as did Taron Egerton for Rocketman. Then sometimes certain actors get noms with zero campaigning behind them, like Tom Hardy for The Revenant, Marina de Tavira for Roma, Jonathan Pryce for The Two Popes, just to name a few. And then sometimes actors try to campaign for the win, like Sylvester Stallone for Creed and Glenn Close for The Wife, just to be upstaged by people like Mark Rylance for Bridge of Spies and Olivia Colman in The Favourite, who at the time did little to no campaigning for the win. It’s always interesting to see when the academy nominates an oddball or picks an unexpected win that seems like it came from nowhere.
I’m just here for the ride 😂🦎

Roma (2018)
Director: Alfonso Cuarón Starring: Yalitza Aparicio, Marina de Tavira, Diego Cortina Autrey A year in the life of a middle-class family’s maid in Mexico City in the early 1970s. It still baffles me why critics raved about ‘Roma’ as much as they did. The film broke several records, and received 10 Oscar nominations. Many critics regarded the film as the best of 2018 and one of the best of the…

Production design: Eugenio Caballero. Film editing: Alfonso Cuarón, Adam Gough. Alfonso Cuarón's Roma was released in the United States by Netflix, with only a short, Oscar-qualifying theatrical run before its appearance on the streaming service, a tactic that gave it a much wider audience than it might have gotten from a more traditional method of release. It deserved that audience: It's a satisfying, handsomely mounted story with some moments of intense action and genuine heartfelt drama. There are those who think it may be too handsomely mounted, too beautifully photographed, with its peak moments, such as the struggle in the surf, subtly sweetened by special effects, all of this at the expense of some spontaneity and heart. Richard Brody of the New Yorker argued that its point of view on the central character, Cleo, a woman of indigenous origins, is too external, too much informed by the "colonialist gaze" of Cuarón, who is admittedly basing the film on his memory of the woman who worked as nanny for his upper-class Mexico City household when he was a boy. She becomes the stereotypical strong, silent peasant, and the story becomes more about how Cuarón sees Cleo than about Cleo herself. I think perhaps Brody was guilty of something that critics so easily fall prey to: The desire to see another movie than the one that's on the screen. What's there is, setting aside any political or sociological matters, absorbing enough, and Yalitza Aparicio's performance gives us more of Cleo's inner life than Brody allows credit for. I would object to some of the conventional manipulation of the narrative, such as Cleo's encounter with Fermin in the chaotic midst of the Corpus Christi massacre, upon which she goes into labor with their stillborn child. That's taking coincidence to the breaking point while imbuing it with symbolic significance. But Roma takes me someplace I've never been before in the movies, and gives me much in both technique and story to appreciate. It won Oscars for Cuarón's one-man-band performance as director and cinematographer but lost the best picture award to Peter Farrelly's Green Book. I think it's much better than the winner but not as good as some other contenders like Yorgos Lanthimos's The Favorite or Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman.

Vila Galé adere às ‘magic boxes’ da Too Good To Go
Tumblr media
O sucesso desta iniciativa motivou o grupo a alargar a parceria com a Too Good to Go a mais unidades em todo o país. Para comprar as magic boxes, basta fazer o download grátis da app da Too Good to Go, através da qual se processa também o pagamento.
