The Ihlara Valley is an incredible gorge with a stunning river running right down the heart of the valley for 16km within the volcanic rock. It is near the province of Aksaray but still considered part of the southern Cappadocia region. It’s a great spot for a relatively easy walk amidst some peaceful, leafy nature as well as being a hub for cave churches, of which you will find many along the trail. City of Safranbolu The City of Safranbolu is a typical Ottoman city, with typical buildings and streets, and played a key role in the caravan trade over many centuries. Boraboy Lake Nature Park is located in Taşova district of Amasya province. Nature Park is 62 kilometers from Amasya city center and access to the area is provided by an asphalt road. The distance to Taşova district center is 22 kilometers. The distance from Amasya Merzifon Airport to the Nature Park is 91 kilometers. The area is suitable for visitors to do activities such as picnics, trekking, lake-pedalo, photographing, plant and wildlife observation. There is a country restaurant for daily use, walking paths, masjid, children's playgrounds, picnic tables, buffet, fountain and parking lot in the Nature Park. There are also cottages suitable for families to stay in the area. On the northern slopes of the Boraboy Lake Nature Park, there are mainly Eastern Beech, Black Pine, Scotch Pine and Oak trees, while there are Scotch Pine, Larch and mixed bush communities on the southern slopes of the area. It is an artificially built lake 13 kilometers south of Bolu city center. The surface of the lake, which has an altitude of 1217 meters, is 4.5 hectares and its circumference is approximately 1300 meters. The lake, surrounded by pine, fir, beech, hornbeam and mixed species of trees, has a magnificent view in all seasons. On the edge of the lake, which is covered with the extraordinary beauty of nature, there is a cute building, which is the "State Guest House" of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Apart from this facility, there is a restaurant, a country restaurant, a cafeteria, a buffet, masjid and bungalow type accommodation facilities around the lake. The lake and its surroundings have been taken under protection by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as a "Nature Park". This lake, which is very cute and small, is not accessible by vehicle. Under the gaze of the mighty Mount Hasan, Aksaray is still waiting for visitors to discover its beautiful landscape dotted with historic ruins. Close to Cappadocia, Aksaray has remnants of Early Bronze settlements, ancient Roman and Byzantine ruins, and ancient churches with stunning frescoes. Check out what to see when you discover Aksaray. Ihlara Valley Located near the town of Güzelyurt in the Aksaray province, the Ihlara Valley is composed of striking gorges cut into volcanic rock that stretches for 16 kilometers (9.9 miles). The landscape took on such a unique shape due to several eruptions of Mount Erciyes, while the Melendiz Stream runs undisturbed through it. However, what makes this particular valley so unique is the 105 churches (16 of which are open to visitors) that are set within the caves. The Ağaçaltı Kilise (Church Under the Trees) has stunning frescoes depicting angels, while the Kokar Kilise (Odorous Church) has beautiful frescoes that celebrate biblical stories. The whole valley is also full of honeycombed underground dwellings and churches that were cut right into the rock by the Cappadocian Greeks who once inhabited the area during the Byzantine era.
