‘Your hair’s getting kinda long,’ Miku observes. She leans forward on the couch to peer down at Meiko, who’s sitting on the floor before her with a magazine in her lap. ‘Especially your bangs.’

‘Speak for yourself,’ Meiko quips, reaching up to twirl a small section of teal hair around her finger. When Miku laughs and swats her away, she continues, ‘But yeah, I keep forgetting to get a haircut – y’know, busy with work and all. It’s been a while.’

Miku hums, running a gentle hand through Meiko’s hair. It’s soft, really soft, the tips barely reaching the slopes of her shoulders, and faintly Miku can catch whiffs of mint shampoo here and there.

‘Huh. Have you been using my shampoo again?’

‘… No.’

‘You hesitated.’

Meiko scoots back until she’s close enough to bump her head against Miku’s knees. ‘It smells good and it smells like you,’ she says seriously, only cracking a smile when Miku snorts. ‘Shut up. I was trying to be romantic, dammit.’

Miku drops a kiss on her forehead. ‘Just don’t burn dinner later – that’ll be romantic enough.’

What are your top Meiko ships and why do you like them?

Lately I’ve been partial to MeiMiku. They’re the first 2 female Japanese Vocaloids so I just kind of see them as very supportive and stable. MEIKO supports Miku by being her strength when she’s tired from all the stress and by beating up whoever picks on her. And Miku supports MEIKO by using her influence to make sure she is included and feels appreciated. They look out for each other even when many people seem intent on pitting them against each other.

Another one I really enjoy is LolaMei. They’d be like the lesbian power couple no one has the guts to mess with. The oldest Vocaloid and the oldest Japanese Vocaloid together. Nice.

MeiClara is another one that I really like. That’d be another couple that no one wants to mess with. Lots of vulgar words and raunchy jokes between these 2. They laugh a lot together and make each other happy as well as commiserate over their popularity in comparison to the cuter, fresher face of their company. They hold no ill will for said face of their company, however. I ain’t about that life. I’m all about women supporting women.

I’ve always had a soft spot for MeiVy2 just because I love both of them and I like how they sound together. VY2 probably gets easily flustered dealing with a woman quite a bit older than him and MEIKO just finds it cute.

Special mention to KaiMei and MeiLuka because I also really like those two in certain circumstances as well. I’m down to ship MEIKO with anyone at this point really but I don’t really like her with any men save for KAITO, VY2, or WIL. Ppossssibly LEON.
