Let’s take a moment to appreciate the body language in this scene: the rest of the team (minus Rossi) has an upright posture and their hands are placed on the desk in front of them. JJ, Emily and Hotch use a hand clasp gesture while Penelope and Derek opt for the ‘one hand over the other’ variation. These gestures generally display an attempt at self-restraint of some sort - mainly a reaction to frustration, anger or anxiety, and also indicate the intention of putting more distance between oneself and the other person(s) involved. Rossi uses what is known as the ‘steeple hands’ pose, an indication that he has a confident attitude or is very confident about the outcome of the situation and may also try to convey a feeling of superiority; the lowered steeple is usually observed when the steepler is listening, rather than speaking. But what about Spencer? His expression is defiant, he’s leaning back on his chair and he’s sitting in a ‘figure four leg lock’ stance... which, according to experts, is one of the most dominant positions someone can assume without manifesting openly aggressive intentions, since it also indicates that the subject feels both argumentative and defensive at the same time.
My man is basically throwing a tantrum during a Senate Committee hearing.

You know, I really wonder about how what happened with Maligula affected things for the adult psychics we see throughout Psychonauts and Psychonauts 2 back when they were growing up.
Maligula "died" 20 years ago, her being this huge threat because of what happened in Grulovia was only 20 years ago in the world of the game. That'd be like talking right now about something that happened back in 2004 (which is wild in itself to think about).
So how did this affect the lives of the adults we know? What did this mean for characters like Sasha, Milla, Hollis, Truman, everyone else?
I've especially been wondering about this for Sasha and Milla (since they're always on my brain while I replay the first game). I know we don't have canon ages for them, but I think they're probably around 30 years old or so. Old enough to join the Psychonauts, develop their skills, and become the duo we see in present day for the games.
So say they're 30. That would mean that everything that happened surrounding Maligula, her wiping out so many people, her "dying", the Psychonauts organization becoming a thing, etc., that all would have happened when they were around 10, around Raz's age. Now I don't know if Milla had her abilities back then or not (personally I think she didn't discover she was psychic until later in life when she heard the children screaming telepathically during the orphanage fire) but we know that Sasha has had his abilities since he was a kid, we see it in his memory vault when he reads his dad's mind.
So just, imagine being a 10 year old kid and seeing all these news stories about a dangerous psychic, seeing how everyone around you where you live reacts to that, all the while knowing you're a psychic too.
I can't even describe what that could have been like for people in the Psychonauts world.

Something that seems really obvious to me, but what I haven’t seen very much is that Milla has a really good second reason for wanting to change how her name is said. In PN2 she says that her full name is Camilla, but when she started working with the Psychonauts Sasha mispronounced it and she didn’t have the heart to correct him. So she’s been going by “Me-yah” ever since. It’s a cute story. But it also makes sense that since her nightmares call her “Me-Lah” from her memories of reaching out to her children with telepathy, that she’d want to distance herself from that name. I mean it would probably trigger her to be called that name. Since she (wrongfully) blames herself for not being to help, she probably feels that “Me-Lah” was the failed mother who couldn’t protect her children.
So she starts her new job with the Psychonauts, protecting the world and exploring the human mind. She’s going to be a cool spy now, but ever since the accident whenever someone calls out to her she is filled with guilt and the feeling that she can’t protect anyone. Then she meets her new field partner, he’s cute, she thinks. And then he gets her name wrong, maybe out of ignorance or nervousness, but it doesn’t matter. “Me-yah.” And she didn’t get that feeling of dread. There wasn’t that doubt or guilt, just…her. Just “Me-yah.” She knew that she should probably correct him, it would be rude to just let him get it wrong, but she just….doesn’t have the heart.
Then she starts introducing herself to others as “Me-yah” and they say it back to her. And she feels fine, happy even. Sure, it doesn’t erase all the bad feelings about the accident, it’s still effecting her a lot. But for this tiny little thing, it’s easier for her.
And as she pulls off mission after mission, she feels less like that failed mother. She wasn’t “Me-Lah,” the woman who could only tearfully plead that everything she loved stopped burning. She was “Me-yah,” the Psychonaut.

Could you maybe tell us what future Raz and Lilis relationship is like now?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*vibrating with excitement*
Putting this under a read more because it might be really long hemngh
So I'd decided to study their characters and how they interact a little more (mostly from the second game, but a little bit of the first too) and think about how their relationship would develop as they got older.
I came to the conclusion that I want to portray them as two people who have some level of affection for the other, but don't have time to focus on being sappy "boyfriend and girlfriend" because of work. The "fun" part their relationship ended waaaay back when they were 18-ish and went from Junior Agents to Official Psychonauts. It ain't exactly easy to go on dates and save the world at the same time y'know, and both of them have a lot of personal stuff going on.
Raz is almost always busy. Constantly filling out paperwork, running around in Sasha's lab, doing agent stuff, Circus stuff, the WHOLE shebang. Lili, is still trying to get over her dad's retirement, as the while thing still feels very surreal to her. Not to mention Hollis and her dad trying to push her to become the next Grand Head, much to her dismay. It's not very easy to have a social life with that much going on to be 100% honest.
Theres also taking their very different personalities into account. Lili's "Fuck around and find out" and Raz's sticking to a solid plan type of methods tend to clash quite often, and many newcomers have a hard time telling whether or not they're dating or competing with eachother.
Lili is probably the most complicated woman Raz has ever worked with, and while he finds it endearing he also finds it incredibly exhausting. Sometimes, It feels like she'll do the exact opposite of what he tells her just to get a reaction out of him, out of spite. But it's not like she can help it. She absolutely hates being told what to do, and one of her least favorite things about Raz is when he decides to become "Mr. Boss man" and order everyone around during missions. Despite all of- that- however, they do end up having very successful missions!... Most of the time.
There's also the pressure to keep up professional appearances for their fellow agents and new interns. One thing the both of them can agree on, is that they'll avoid showing any PDA in front of their coworkers. They still cringe thinking about how a little too comfortable they were as kids, and how almost EVERYONE in the Motherlobe knew about it. Luckily, most of those people are retired, quit or fired, and gives the two a better chance to be a little more professional with their relationship in front of the newcomers, because if they have to hear, "You guys are like the next Sasha and Milla!" One more time...
This isn't to say that things are always rough and gloomy for them. They still have a very special connection, and after knowing eachother for half of their lives, it's not like they're going to get rid of the other anytime soon. So might as well make the most of it, eh? She'll never admit it out loud, but there's really no other person Lili would rather be tied up and dangling over a pool of pyrokenetic sharks with than Raz (which has actually happened before btw) There's no way you won't catch them holding hands or sneaking a quick kiss at least once.
Anyways, to sum all of this shishkabable up best I can: They're WAY too close to be considered "just coworkers", but they also have way too much going on to focus on a serious relationship at this time.
Good on you if you managed to read my nonsensical ramblings all the way through! Take a prize from the prize bin you deserve it 👏 👏👏

Y'all I've had a revelation
Do you think Sasha would like Legos
Like
I feel like that'd be the perfect thing to help him with reclaiming part of that childhood he lost upon leaving his home
Could be that Razputin gets introduced to Legos at the Motherlobe and little man is in love and maybe Sasha sees him playing and listens to him ramble and then Raz gets him to open up a little by asking if he'd like to help him
Just
Sasha finding a love for Legos and him bonding with Raz over it

Hi! I hope its not odd to ask, baw your oc Milla and my question isn't excatly about her but about Nolan - what's his fairytale (i know i can just google but eh lol) because i havent heard of iron stove prince before and why excatly did u chose that tale for Milla's oc?
No it’s not odd! Feel free to ask me any questions, I love answering them!
So basically Nolan’s destiny is this :
Tumblr media
And the princess goes through trials to get back to him and all that stuff but the ending is that they marry!
Nolan isn’t in love with his destined princess, she’s nice but not the one he believes he shares true love with (he’s and avid hopeless romantic)
And Mila is the millers daughter because 1. The eah wiki does state that’s what her story could be that
And 2. I feel like her aesthetic just fits that role much better then other stories!
Thanks for the ask!

Yet more Psychonauts babble:
I was just thinking about Morris Martinez, since of all the Interns he probably receives the least amount of attention. Much like Sam he's often relegated to the status of comic relief because of his celebrity ego and questionable ideas on what 'pirate radio' means, which is fine! But when you think about it, a lot of signs point to there being some inner angst going on with him, same as all the others. :V
Consider that his specialty is Levitation - indeed, he Levitates constantly since he's paraplegic. It's never stated if he was born paraplegic or something happened to him - I personally think he had an accident, and it was directly tied to his use of Levitation.
IIRC, Milla says that in order to Levitate, you need to let your thoughts lift you up. Consider the theory that the reason Levitation was nerfed between the first and second games was because of all the stress and unprocessed trauma Raz was experiencing, his heavy thoughts literally weighing him down.
Therefore, Morris has a pretty big incentive to shut any sources of potential distress down so he can stay afloat constantly, hence his apparent self-confidence and bravado in the face of danger. Notably, he's the only Intern who doesn't scream or look visibly frightened when Maligula attacks them during the final boss fight; he just asks Raz for an interview and resigns himself to his imminent water-snake-mauling.
I find it unlikely he got to that point without some missteps and accidents along the way, since it's demonstrated that inexperienced psychics often have accidents (such as Dogen and Compton's head-exploding record, Phoebe's pyrokinetic attacks, and Maligula's whole existence), and it's often those accidents that motivate them to seek out guidance.
Morris is also shown achieving some insane heights both with Levitation and his unspecified platform-summoning power - which I'm assuming is somehow derived from Levitation - and even proudly says 'up is more my thing!'
So we've established that Morris likes going up, he's adept at shutting out sources of distress so they won't weigh him down, and to get to that point he probably experienced the consequences of not doing so. Put them all together and the implication is clear, but that's not all.
Consider also the fact that, despite all the issues Raz is dealing with, he's still able to Levitate fairly consistently. So imagine the kind of distress that's bad enough to make Levitation fail completely.
Finally, consider that Morris' assigned mentor is Milla Vodello - not only an expert in Levitation, but also probably the series' best example of someone who's experienced great trauma, come to terms with it and moved on with their lives without burying the trauma completely. Sounds like the best teacher for a deeply traumatized boy in desperate need of Levitation instruction.
What kind of trauma did he suffer, exactly? That I don't know, but I will say it probably makes his non-reaction to getting mauled by a water-snake (even if he was just in someone's mind) a lot more concerning in hindsight.

Sorry for being a bit inactive, lately. Health update under the cut, with mentions of allergies and some med talk.
I'm currently waiting to be tested for my allergies (don't even get me started on the time it took me to book the appointment, thanks to my GP being a dumbass) so I'm not allowed to take any meds that could interfere with the test itself… which means I'm experiencing allergy-induced asthma attacks throughout the day. Since I've never been diagnosed with allergic asthma I don't have a prescription for an inhaler and I can only use a nebulizer machine - better than nothing, for sure, but very time-consuming. Hopefully the tests will find out what is causing these reactions, fingers crossed 🤞

Thinking about Sasha's mind and just how different it is to the other minds we see in both Psychonauts and Psychonauts 2.
There's a wide variety of worlds in both games, but from what I remember, they all have different areas that are connected to each other and you travel between. Milla has the different areas of her dance party, Bob has the different islands, Cassie different areas of the library, etc.
However, Sasha's is the only one that, even though you're inside his mind, you're not really in it. You're on the outside of the cube. There's nothing you can access, no memory vaults, no emotional baggage, no hints about his past, nothing, unless he lets you in (there's the different levels that appear in his shooting gallery but he admits to setting that up after Raz beats the course).
The potential implications of this are wild to think about, because you have to wonder just when exactly his mind became that cube, and how he managed to compartmentalize and lock everything away so thoroughly.
Personally, I like the idea that his mind was like that before he met the Psychonauts and joined the organization. We already know that his father wasn't emotionally available throughout Sasha's life, and as far as we know, Sasha didn't have anyone else growing up. That could have led to him just locking everything away, because what's the point of being open when the only family member in your life isn't truly even there? It could also be a little bit of Sasha taking after his father since his father seemed fairly stoic.
Then if he already had everything under lock and key (which is possible, remember, Raz also has high mental defenses and he's only 10 with no training at the beginning), then it could make for some interesting headcanons/ideas about his early days with the Psychonauts, especially if he already showed promise with PSI blasts or could already use them. Like they come across this young psychic who they can't learn anything about, even inside his mind, and he has a knack for PSI blasts which literally turn negative emotions into firepower? You could have some fun with a story like that.

Sashamilla version of Rewrite the Stars.
This is my thought today. (Actually not really I’ve had it for months, today is the day I finally write it down.)
However, Milla is in Zac Efron’s role and Sasha’s is in Zendaya’s. It just fits their personalities and worldviews way better. Milla is the idealistic dreamer who’s accomplished and overcome so much she’s convinced she can do pretty much everything. Because she can but that’s besides the point. She’s also in tune with her own and other’s emotions to be able to actually call out the present feelings(“you know I want you / it’s not a secret I try to hide / I know you want me”).
Meanwhile Sasha is the more negative centered side of the argument voiced by Zendaya. Both the negativity charged powers and literally being down to earth compared to Milla play into it. Also crucially is that this is the side of the argument that fate is real and cannot be changed(“no one can rewrite the stars / how can you say that you’ll be mine?”). While there’s no definitive proof in the games that Sasha thinks fate is absolute, he does have a line in RoR that might believe in destiny, but also would not actively attempt to change it, “Who am I to stand in the way of our destiny, even if that destiny is our destruction?” Plus there’s the stars/galaxy/space/aliens special interest so yeah Stars. Sasha stands pretty firmly on the side of order to the point that chaos is hard to function for him so the idea of rewriting the stars/constellations, even if possible, could also get some derision from him.
And then there’s the idea of the song to begin with, that our leads are separated by something insurmountable. The in text scenario from the musical can apply to sashamilla since they’re also an interracial couple. But racism is depressing, so there’s some alternative factors that can be used. There’s the idea that because they’re opposites that they’re simply too different from each other. They’re “doomed to break” if you will. Or a more psychological reason could be played that the reason they can’t be together is because their past trauma of suddenly losing a loved one prevents them from truly loving another person again. Of course with this context, it would mean that Milla is ready to try to love someone else again, and Sasha isn’t, which is believable. I personally think that although romantic relationships shouldn’t really define characters, I do think that Sasha/Milla is the other’s happy ending by being able to love another person again especially when they’re both in such a dangerous field. They’re both likely to die suddenly, but they both decide that love/being loved is worth the possible reoccurring pain and that’s their happy ending by choosing to be happy with each other.
Additionally the verses “because we’re able to be / just you and me within these walls / but when we go outside / you’re gonna wake up and see / that it was hopeless after all” can be whatever you interpreted above. “Within these walls” can refer to their own minds/privacy where they can be fine by themselves but not in public aka “outside.” Or it can refer to the Psychonauts as a sanctuary that they can be psychics or basically share parts that can’t be comfortably shown to the rest of the world “outside.” I really like these verses in relation to the ship, good opportunity for storytelling.
Now if this was an animatic, I’d suggest that the visuals take place inside their minds. With Milla’s levitation a similar thing can be done with the trapeze art(?) from the original musical. But the entire time it’s abundantly clear visually how the other sticks out in the opposing mind. I think it would be cool if they were chasing each other. So it starts out in Milla’s mind, and she’s just singing her heart out but she’s just too good at levitating and Sasha cannot keep up with her. They both have points of just barely being close enough but momentum is just a bit stronger, fate’s just a little bit stronger.
And then during the transition where it would be Sasha’s turn to sing, he’s given up on trying to keep up and just leaves back to his own mind. Milla obviously follows after, she’s chasing now. But despite his mind being a large cube with tons of empty space the entire time it’s unfolding and refolding back as both for Sasha to move around and Milla to stumble over her own obstacles. I also want the idea of the appearing/disappearing trapdoor from PN1 to be an element during where Sasha keeps suddenly disappearing through spaces that you wouldn’t immediately identify as doors. It would also coincide with the verse “and there are some doors that we can’t walk through” emphasis on the we specifically(because I like literalism). Milla’s good with levitation but with what’s effectively teleportation she’s struggling to keep up.
Of course the repeated line of “(what if we/no one can) rewrite the stars” is accompanied but different but similar visuals depending on the mind. Milla’s has spinning lights from the disco balls, and the geometric/math like designs in the sky in Sasha’s that I interpreted as constellations is of course, the stars.
Also the line “I want to fly with you / I want to fall with you.” I have no thoughts. It’s just them, I don’t really have to explain that. I’m just pointing it out.
The final part of the song where both voices come in for an overlapping duet would be cool if the aesthetics of both of their minds somehow combined. I don’t know how. It might even be a nightmare to design, but it would be interesting and like a blending of their ideas and persons into this new destiny they’ve created. But nonetheless it should look beautiful. They’re finally in sync, being able to fly and fall together.
I just think the song fits them and their personalities. And there’s the irony that I’m pretty sure they were, in reality, designed for each other. That they “were the one they were might to find” so, cute, obviously. So, yeah, my thoughts on a song and a ship.
