The wolf's fangs are like knives. They are made for killing, but their kills are utilitarian. To the wolf, killing is surviving. Killing is its nature. The wolf's fangs are utensils first and weapons second.
The bison has no pragmatic excuse for its horns. The bison doesn't kill to survive. Killing is not in its nature. The bison's horns are like swords, only there to hurt others in the name of self-defense, or to spar in the name of pride.
Humans fear the wolf's fangs because they understand the effectiveness of a pragmatic utensil. But humans are not the prey of wolves.
Humans should fear the bison's prideful defensiveness, for when your only protection is a sword, your only defense is a swift and ruthless offense.

Watching Wednesday and it got me thinking that what if we had a school for therians??? Like, everyone was allowed to display their theriotype wether it be wearing a tail or ears to walking on all fours etc etc like, i’d love to go to a school for therians where the teachers are also therians like it’d be so fun

I would like to offer this resource for therians, an extensive list of all of Sir David Attenborough’s nature documentaries that are available on soap2day, and a full list of what species* they each (notably, prominently) feature the natural behaviors of, separated by episode, and omitting species that were only shown dead, juvenile or being predated on. This took me a while (I have been working on it since Prehistoric Planet’s release) because I did in fact have to watch every single series in full in order to list all the species and the episodes are around 50 minutes long, but enjoy.
Long post ahead:
Most of these shows have closed captioning, which is why I’ve picked soap2day. Planet Earth is the only one that doesn’t. I did not include Dynasties and Dynasties II because each episode only features one species.
Thank you to Birch (@ambiguousmutt) for his help (he watched about half of the episodes) so I didn’t have to do it individually. Credit goes to him as well.
*Sometimes Attenborough doesn’t say the specific species and I was too busy trying to get through the episodes to identify it. In those cases I just put the most specific name I could.

kin/therian/inhuman advice/help suggestions - focused on more animalistic types
please note that this is largely based on our experience and may not help all who have the same cravings/urges/ect.
blood cravings: find clamato juice or something similar. clam tomato juice. not sure if it is sold in the USA. might sound gross but its thick, red, salty, and high in iron. it satiates our cravings very well. alternatively, see if local butchers will sell animal blood. you can claim for it to be for things such as blood pancakes.
raw meat cravings: buy fatty, thinly sliced meat from a deli. once again it is very salty, and it feels good to tear. you can safely eat raw beef; sear the outside to rid bacteria on the outside. slice it off and you can eat the still raw meat inside. you can also do this with fondue beef to just cook the outside of the small cube. never eat raw minced meat; bacteria is all through it already and must be fully cooked.
be careful to not eat too much raw meat; it can be unhealthy for your vessel.
more normal food cravings: for us, this is birdbrain related. indulge these cravings. learn what they are so you can keep these things on hand. we keep seeds and nuts in stock and it's not a bad idea to keep things such as fish frozen in a freezer as a clutch for intense fish cravings. if you have cravings for non-traditional meat for your area [ie game animals such as duck, deer, moose, or mutton if NA / beef if EUR from what i understand ] make an effort to look for stores or butchers who carry it.
phantom limbs/differences-
digitigrade: minimize wearing shoes/socks. if you need to learn how to walk on the balls of your feet in your vessel, get some heels. learn quadrobics. try to make yourself fake legs, look into how furries and satyr cosplayers make theirs.
wings: open-back clothes can feel more comfortable. when laying down on your front, put a slightly warm heating pad across your back to simulate weight. watch your posture. make fake wings to wear.
tails and paws: once again look into how furries make theirs.
Neffertity is a fursuit maker who's posted tutorials on youtube. they have a video on making ears, paws, claws, wings, digitigrade paws, and super motion tails.
clothing tips: if furred, find clothing that resembles the texture of your fur. learning sewing can make it easy to accomidate your ahumanity.
find community. take part in art. if possible, engage in VR responsibly.

Therians or animalkin or furries or anyone who wants to fill out a poll, I have a question
also please read the bullets below the poll for clarification!
some clarification:
Humanoid animal basically is just an animal that is physically anthropomorphic enough to look somewhat human. It doesn’t have to be super humanoid, just has to have some physical things showing it is humanoid. This can range from having a humanoid (but still scaly, furry, feathery, etc.) body, to just standing upright.
The “able to do animal things” option does not make any physical changes. For example, you could choose to have the sense of smell of a dog, or the bite force of a shark, but you would not get a dog nose or shark teeth.
The “animal but mentally human” option would not change anything but the mind of said animal. Basically, the animal in question has human intelligence/sentience, but it would not walk on two legs or anything.
The “some animal qualities” option includes internal organs or other not outwardly visible body parts (like second jaws of a moray eel or the liver of a wood frog).
The “stay human but live like/with animal” can range from meaning “mentally and physically human but with animal lifestyle”, to “mentally animal, but physically human”
The “stay human, but have human traits related to that animal” option is kinda confusing in retrospect, so here’s a somewhat (but not that much) better explanation. It would be gaining a human quality that you tie or equate to a certain animal. For example, if the animal in question is a moose, someone may choose to have dark brown hair. If the animal is a bullfrog, someone may choose to have a raspier/deeper voice. If the animal in question is a cheetah, the person may choose to have freckles. Things like that. Does that make sense?
If you want, please reblog with the specific thing you want and/or why! It’s cool to see other peoples ideas on this.

i went on a northwest trek jeep tour yesterday and saw elk CLOSE UP!!! (since it was feeding time lolol and we did a bit of offroading) it felt so amazing to be there, i felt so connected and i even got a upclose shot of bison fur! (lolol his name was meadow and hearin him graze was so satisfying) tbh i absolutely love that place and i def reccomend to any cerivdae, bison or moose therians!! they also have a sorta zoo place that dosent require an appointment filled with all sorts of animals from the north and it was nice to explore! (prob dont guarantee seeing all of those animals tho since they are in enclosures with certain viewing areas) i also got a buncha other photos but decided it aint worth it since most were blurry, doubles or just werent good XD
also points to the elk matriarch cuz she was starin at us like an owl and protectin her fellow ladies like she should >:D more cool things but not in a rant way!: - our driver found a shed antler and it was so heavy T_T -got plenty of nature pics -saw a bighorn sheep which were sorta a rare sight according to our driver! -the elk ran across the water cuz they were sorta scared of the jeep at first and it sounded like a waterfall but way better -driver was so nice and informative! they knew like every single one of the animals names- -i now want a pet sassy goat, a bison with a bowlcut, 3 moose who act like siblings but come from different places and to kidnap my local swan
pics comin in!! had to put em last cuz theres just so many T_T

okay so, I know there are alterhumans who are into petplay - and the two are (pretty much) wholly separate from one another. A moose therian who's into puplay, for instance. Being a moose is who they are but being a dog is sexually gratifying (forgive my oversimplification).
I've been questioning my alterhumanity for a long time and have been on the fence on whether or not I'm more draconic or feline. Recently (I am about to overshare about my sex life, fyi) I've actually tried petplay and really like being a cat in the sexual sense but also feel a feeling similar to species euphoria - I'm not sure how to know if the two are linked or not?
Maybe I was just a dragon and now, as a "human" so to speak, I like being feline? Maybe I lucked out and I'm a cat who gets off on being a cat?? Very much crying into the void right now.
