man it’s wild how dragons rising introduced so many characters that just fit so well within the world of ninjago

I love Arin Sora and Riyu just as much as I love the rest of the main ninja + Pixal + Wu. Mr. Frohicky is such a fun addition to the cast. Beatrix, Lord Ras and Rapton are such fun villains. There’s so many side characters that are incredible that I fell for so fast, like Euphrasia and Arrakore and Percival and Jordana and Geo. Lobbo is so funny and a delight on-screen. Kreel feels very Ronin-esque in such a fun way. Even the BACKGROUND CHARACTERS make the realms and the Crossroads feel so alive.

I was so nervous when they announced there’d be a new ninjago series, I’m very resistant to change and didn’t want new characters to replace the old. But they haven’t replaced them, they’ve added to such a wonderful and expansive world. I love you Dragons Rising I love you DR cast

HOLY FUCK I KNOW I JUST POSTED BUT I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING!!

Ok I might seem crazy for thinking about this BUT it makes sense for me sooo

Ok when Zane is talking to the picture of Pixal, he obviously feels lonely because she’s not there and the ninja are out to get the energy cores. He talks to himself and is alone with only his thoughts. Now does that remind you of another point of his life… that would be when ever he was the Ice Emperor. He was alone with his thoughts with no one to talk to him EXCEPT for Vex.

But who would be Vex in this situation..? Mr. Frohicky (idk how to spell his name). He checks up on Zane when he’s alone and when Zane needs the part to the his device, Mr. Frohicky ADVISES that he should go with him to the scrapyard to find one, kinda like how Vex advises that he should have destroyed the Ninja.

Idk if this makes sense for people, I could just see a faint parallel from that but ye.

Talking about DR part 2: Episode 13 (spoilers)

Ohhhh boy this episode...

It's like 2 sides of the same coin, I'm really 50/50 on how it treats Zane with this whole "Zane Day" thing, and I'm... Sorta upset by how it's done?

When the Zane competition starts, it just doesn't make any sense as to why Chancellor Gulch wouldn't immediately give Zane the 10/10 score for AT LEAST the voice competition.

I get it's played for jokes here (and so are the other parts of the competition), but unlike those this one doesn't land, it feels hella forced which... I wouldn't really mind if it weren't for the rest of the episode.

Now, I do at the very least appreciate how this episode is a commentary on how the writers in the last few years have treated Zane's character (ie making him the smart context giving guy with nothing else to do)

But even when the whole thing is played for a joke it still feels sorta... weird.

Some of the land, some of them don't, the one about Zane seriously doubting if he's himself is probably one of the best ones because it actually at least shows us some character from him, it's funny but at the same time it shows us something Wildbrain era ninjago never even bothered doing.

Showing us that certain events, dangerous or not, HAVE an impact on Zane.

The biggest 3 examples I can think of are:

- The Ice Emperor

- Being used as a power conductor in S12

- And his Fakeout in Crystalized (ew)

In all of those events, Zane literally didn't have the slightest reaction and that's god damn infuriating to be honest.

But while I am generally mixed on this episode, I am SO GRATEFUL for it at least trying to give Zane some much needed attention.

And although the idea of Zane being really doubtful of his own self following his long hibernation after losing a competition about himself (in admittedly BS ways at times), it also sorta makes sense in it's own special Ninjago way.

Last Sidenote: the idea of Zane Day itself is actually so fucking sweet, afawk this might be something exlcusive to him, sure the city honored the other ninja as we saw in "Crossroads Carnavel", but we never see them celebrate one of the ninja specifically.

I like to think if it as... The City's way of thanking him for his Sacrifice in S3, besides the statue :)
